Hey folks, Harry here... Johnny Wad just dropped me a link that literally has me being the happest schoolboy in town today! War films have gotten stale... So the Japanese invents CAT SHIT ONE... A film about quite fluffy bunnies fighting evil Camels in a desert with full on assault rifles, RPG, along with other lethal death shit! This has been known to horrify some, to the delight of many others. However, the main reason I'm posting this is that... well... I desperately need to know more about this! It really is the greatest thing I've seen today!

I'm a huge anime and manga fan. I love the Japanese. Yet while they create a lot of great stuff, they also do crap like this. They seem to experiment a lot, and each time they get something weird and stupid like this, a lot of idiots hurry to sing their praises to the taboos being broken and so on.

Replacing the different factions with animals is not a new idea. If any of you have read "Maus", a graphic novel (and true story) of the holocaust as told by his grandfather. He illustrated the book as if the jews were mice, the nazis cats, the americans were dogs... etc...
This looks like its going to take a daring subject material and soften the look by using cute animals. But in reality they are going to display the horrors of war, and the toll it takes. This will be a very interesting series, and is now on my radar. please god, don't prove me wrong by making it about dick jokes and schoolgirls and all that other radical crazy shit the japanese tend to get into with their animation. -

Yeah I read Maus. The cat and mouse switch makes sense. A fucking rabbit and camel? Those two animals have no relation. I don't see a single reason why these couldn't be humans, why replacing humans with animals does anything here other "shock". And with a totally ridiculous title (that never happens in Japanese animation does it?) it seems more like it's supposed to be for laughs for something.

A quick google would've told you it's the next chapter of a comicbook that's been released under "Apocalypse Meaow". It's not a movie, it's a series, and it'll be 12 episodes long. Still in production.

Seriously, I'm digging this. I myself have referred to Islamo-Fascists as "camel-fuckers" so this toon really speaks to me. We should have more caricaturing of those assholes who use their make-believe religion to butcher and oppress others. Sure, Judaism and Christianity have had passages like that, but they've evolved past it while factions of Islam are still wallowing in it (note blatant pig reference here; eat bacon, Taliban). I hope this toon's a huge hit.

Maus is, without a doubt, the best comic I have ever read. I can't imagine that story told in any other medium. Making a movie of it would only be an insult. Cat Shit One, on the other hand, I can't wait to watch. Sniper bunnies as entertainment is a basic human right.

The original Manga was about the Vietnam war, and the Vietnamese were cats. This anime is an update, replacing the Vietnam War with one of the wars in the Middle East. But they kept the title. Bc its so damn catchy.

Camels come from the area. Unfortunately, racist people sometimes call Arabs "camel-fuckers". So making Middle-Easterners camels is more a commentary on the most prominent animal in their region (like snow monkeys in Japan) then a play on racist nicknames- which the Japanese are probably blissfully unaware of.

Since I do not understand Japanese, who knows if my interpretation is correct. That being said, the racism of the camels vs. the bunnies is the WHOLE POINT. It's satire. The Americans are the good-looking, healthy, and always-in-the-right bunnies and the arabs are the ugly, smelly, probably-diseased camels. The idea is that it's what the rest of the world thinks the Americans think of themselves!
Now, if the British are portrayed as rats and the French are portrayed as pigs, that pretty well blows my interpretation right out of the water. "Old Europe" should be portrayed as once-proud animals that are no longer really that important in the modern world. Like, maybe horses. They still look really majestic and powerful, but we no longer depend on them in our daily lives.
Emerging nations that are becoming more important in the world, like maybe China or Israel, would be portrayed as some trendy animal that's cute but also a little frightening. Ferrets, perhaps? You could also go with cats, but that's way too obvious a cliché that would be interpreted as meaning "untrustworthy".
Former European colonies like Australia and Canada should be portrayed as useful and hard-working, but uncelebrated animals. These are the nations that "carry a lot of the water" in international affairs, without being too flashy about it. Since they're descended from Europe, they could be the more work-oriented breeds of horses like Clydesdales, while their former masters in Europe are more like show horses.
"New Europe" are nations that want to play a bigger role on the world stage, but are still struggling to emerge from under their Soviet past. I'm having trouble thinking of an animal that would make a good analogy. Maybe Pitbulls or Rottweilers, because they're animals that people are afraid of that are actually perfectly friendly if they're treated properly?
Other nations that are involved in world affairs but tend to play a smaller role, like maybe Scandinavia, could be portrayed as work-breed dogs.
Anyhoo, I hope they turn this into a feature film and release it in North America with English subtitles. Dubbing it with English actors would weaken the satire, I think. Letting an American studio remake it from scratch would destroy the satire completely. -

camel = rakuda (Iraq?)
pig = buta (well, the French use a lot of butter in their cooking, I suppose...)
rat = ratto (no help there)
dog = inu (ditto)
bear = kuma (this is starting to get old)
monkey = saru (by now, I think we can safely assume that the word-play is pretty well limited to the rabbits)

That is how I saw it. Of course, you could argue that the Rabbits are the Americans, and this is an Anime version of the US invasion of Iraq. Whatever it is, this is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. I just don't know why it is called Cat-Shit-One, but that may be the name of the military operation. If you will recall, the US loves to name things...like Operation: Desert Storm or Operation: Desert Freedom or whatever. The Japanese love doing this kind of shit.
