Conservative Fox News & 24 Vet Joel Surnow To Pen Miniseries About THE KENNEDYS!!
I am – Hercules!!
So here’s something I suspect will never see the light of American airwaves.
Right-wing writer-producer Joel Surnow, co-creator of Fox News’ “Half-Hour Comedy Hour” (pitched as the conservative answer to “The Daily Show”) and Fox’s “24,” is shopping a 10-hour miniseries about the liberal Kennedy political family.
Variety describes the premise:
"The Kennedys" will explore "the soiled and crooked steps" the family took to get to the White House.
I think Surnow's "The Kennedys" will get a greenlight about ten minutes after Lifetime greenlights "Mother Theresa: What A Whore!"
They should hire Surnow for one of those hilarious "You think this is wrong?" cell-phone commercials. (If anyone has a YouTube link to the one with the pigs savoring the flavors of a fallen friend, kindly post it in talkback.)
Find all of Variety’s story on the matter here.

Even guys who go from liberal to conservative automatically lose any comedic skills. Dennis Miller and David Zucker, I'm looking at you.
-
they are considered the establishment, whether or not they actually are in power, and it's just not funny if they rage against themselves.
Also this will not get picked up because no has the balls to piss off 98% of Hollywood and alienate potential collaborators. -
Joe Kennedy was a criminal and a bootlegger.Joe then used the mob and the corrupt Daly Administration in Chicago to steal the 1960 Presidential Election from Nixon. That's right, all you socialist fucks want to talk about Bush stealing an election, well the Kennedy's did it first. Then we got Ted Kennedy's drunk ass driving off a bridge and killing a woman because he ran away while she drowned, and yet, he escaped vehicular manslaughter charges. Hmmm... wonder how his drunk ass got off???You people want to blow the Kennedy's and ignore their criminal history... go right ahead.
-
Everything about them is funny in a tragic freak show kind of way. If this movie comes out then i'm going ahead with my oft delayed 10 part mini-series masterpiece - Ronald Reagan: Portrait of a Cocksucking Traitor. (File footage of Ronnie giving up and comer Rush Limbaugh a hummer will be included.) Hey conservatives - your leader was George W. Bush war criminal! Now go hide your heads in shame losers.
-
Like hell it does.
-
Drew Carey cracked a joke that he could tell his girlfriend was a closet democrat, as all she did was sit in the passengers seat and bitch. Kinda funny.
-
Remember how it was originally going to include parts that might make the former president not look like an infallible saint? And then remember how conservatives completely lost it, and DEMANDED that the network showing it remove the offending scenes? And then remember how the network caved and cancelled the show, moving it to Showtime where it would be seen by less people? Ah yes, the famous "liberal media." Good thing they won't think twice about showing a yellow Kennedy bopic.
-
is not to be taken seriously.
-
Look, I'm a HUGE fan of what John F. Kennedy did in the White House. But if liberals can champion non-fiction pieces with negative slants, why shouldn't conservatives be allowed the same thing if they are true? Even if it were a great president. If there's a story to be told and someone is willing to greenlight it, then so be it! How hypocritical...

and the reason anyone under 40 should care about the Kennedys is
by jccalhoun
I just don't get why the media have such a boner for the Kennedy family. Every time one of them sneezes it is all over the news. Who cares? They haven't done anything since I was born in the early 70s.
-
We're anonymous posters on a lame movie site, none of us should be taken seriously.
-
Because "The Party of Tolerance" can't handle dissenting thought.
-
The media loves the Kennedys because every time something happens to one of them they get to trot out all their stock footage and fill a lot of time with very little effort.
-
doesn't mean we should all aim for the lowest common denominator.

They haven't done anything since I was born in the early 70s.
Are you implying that you are Ted Kennedy's love child?
-
I guarantee the Kennedy series will be greenlit, but a slightly un-hagiographic look at Ronald Reagan was all but blacklisted when it came out. Please, drop this "liberal media bias" bullshit. It's pure fantasy. That includes you too, Herc. You know damn well there won't be half the outcry should this be produced that the Reagan thing generated.
-
I think it will likely run into the same problems the Reagan TV movie did, but if they want to make it and get the funds - nobody can stop them.
-
Yeah, that's bullshit and a shame. But it shouldn't affect future exploits, I think.
-
Dwell on the negatives like you always do!! Both parties have skeletons in their respective closets, but Jesus Christ on a bicycle, what fucking good will this do? "Oh wow. The Kennedys were fucked up!! I never realized. I'll just forget all the good things and focus on the negatives." It's time to fucking pull the huge blue rods that are up your asses out, and learn to enjoy life a little. Fuck, what an angry, bitter bunch of shit stains you guys must be.
-
...slapping starlets' asses from Boston to DC.
This sounds like an easy series to sell because the subject matter is pretty interesting. Imagine a ROME-style story made for adults and broadcast on HBO or SHOWTIME. Totally suitable. -

So Conservative Fox News must mean Liberal Everthing Else.
by hermestrismestigus
Ya know I've seen 50 Nixon movies about what a paranoid asshole he is, A Reagan movie made by Barbra Streisand, Not too mention ruining my 80's action films like lethal weapon with shit like dolphin safe tuna and stop the NRA slogans while they blow up half the planet. Don't know how many Canadian 911 conspiracy videos/Bush Illuminati,my che guevara wearing friends make me sit through and Brian Depalma one of my faves making redacted the worse movie, other than Black Dahlia that I've seen in a while. So I figure I would like to see a Kennedy movie where he's shooting up, fucking Bob Hoskins as Edgar J Hoover along with joe pesci and tommy lee jones in Victorian drag, and they secretly get married in Black & white but shot digitally. Marilyn Monroe was a man! I love it when the poster deliberately creates controversy.

I hope they blow the lid off of Teddy's insideous soul!
by bob cryptonight
That fucker should be in prison...but at the very least he should have been run out of politics after fleeing the scene of his Chappaquiddick (drunken) car accident and then lying about trying to save the woman--and then not calling for help (since she was alive inside of the overturned car for at least an hour). Nice job, Ted. Head hurt much lately?
-
..is/was a Republican.
-
After Ted abandoned her in the underwater car, Mary Jo lived for several hours in an air pocket. Her claw marks were found inside the car.
She did not drown, but died from
asphyxiation when the air supply in the car was exhausted several hours later. A horrible way to die.
Even if Ted was too drunk or too much of a coward to save her, had he reported the incident at that time she could have been saved.
Instead, Ted Kennedy went back to the hotel, didn't say a word about the incident to anyone, and tried to establish an alabi for himself by calling down to the front desk of the hotel to complain about noise from a party. Cold indeed.
Why did Ted Kennedy let Mary Jo Kopechne die? Just because he didn't want it discovered that he was driving drunk (and need a few hours to sleep the booze off)? And he let her die for that?
His behavior after the accident shows him to be an evil and calculating individual.
It is equally terrible that the public's love affair with the name of Kennedy allowed Ted's bootlegging father to get Ted off with a two month suspended sentence for letting that poor girl die a terrible death. It is a disgrace that law enforcement could be that corrupt to turn the other way.
This story needs to be told. 10 hours may not be long enough to tell of all of the corruption.

Explain to me what Kennedy did in the White House, except the Cuban Missile Crisis. Explain.
-
Are they ever introduced as "Left Wing director Oliver Stone to direct movie about Bush" or "Left Wing producer Aaron Sorkin to produce drama called The West Wing"?That's because to Left Wingers, leftist means mainstream. Moderate means Conservative, and Conservative means right wing wacko.

His policies would look very republican: he was anti-commie, he cut taxes, and he was for a strong military. Oh, and his wife was a hottie.

I really do dig the lack of an edit capacity at AICN.

i find PJ O'Rourke quoteable and funny...but I find Jon Stewart Funny as well...and you know what Limbaugh usually has some good bits on his show. comedy is about making fun of the people in power, it's harder to mock those in power when you agree with them on some if not all issues. SNL had a fun time with W, Palin, Regan, Bush Sr.,Perot, Ford...some Clinton bits were funny some less so, same with Obama right now. Now granted you may not find Limbaugh's bit humours or O'Rourkes because they are mocking your politics, just like conservetives get upset by people making fun of theirs, that's just the way it is. Making a blanket statement that "conservetives aren't funny" is just stupid. Red Eye on Fox News is another example of some funny stuff right now, in a nontraditional way, but it's usually got some good stuff

The Christian side of me doesn't want to wish ill on anyone. That same side also wants to be forgiving at times, and certainly on a basic human level you want to show compassion to someone who is literally dying and on their last legs. I can also look at some of the legislative work that Kennedy has done and appreciate his so-called "contribution" to society -- though given the side of the political aisle he falls on, there are also many issues or occasions where he's taken a stance that I strongly disagreed with as well.On the other hand, I'm sorry, but Ted Kennedy dying a slow and painful death warrants little sympathy from me and almost seems like poetic justice finally catching up with him because of Mary Jo and Chappaquiddick. Frankly, I equate Kennedy with OJ as someone who evaded the law and who literally got away with murder. Period. As others have already pointed out in this thread, Mary Jo was ALIVE when Teddy boy abandoned her and she was ALIVE for nearly an hour afterwards. That's been PROVEN by subsequent forensic testing. And that poor woman would be ALIVE now if Ted wasn't MORE concerned about saving his own ass and his own lucrative political life than saving an ACTUAL life.In fact, I take it back. In his own way, Ted is actually a bigger fucker than OJ since at least OJ did have a day in court where there was at least a chance he would be made to pay for his crime. On the flip side, Ted pimped his name and his family's power to pull political strings and did Heaven knows what else behind the scenes and thus he avoided even having to face that. When Kennedy dies, perhaps there's a slight chance I'll mourn the loss of a historical figure given his role in government over the years, but you can bet I'll also smile and feel that some sort of justice was finally served upon someone who avoided true justice all of his life.
-
And heeeeeeeere weeeeee go!
-
You're not a Christian, so don't preface a blood-thirsty rant with that "the Christian in me" bullshit.
-
Fox News is an abomination. They damage democracy and hurt freedom with shamelessly trying to make people believe what they say is 'news' in a 'fair and balanced' way.
Fox News - The Evil Network. -
But, it can ONLY be shown on HBO! If you do a miniseries about the Kennedys, its got to have nudity and sex! Also, the Kennedys ARE pretty crooked. Do some research, you'll see.
-
Just not one from a right wing loon who will probably make the Kennedys look like the Sopranos, most likely including a "Bobby kills Marilyn" plot. Plus, no Kennedy series from anyone like Surnow who probably uses the Zapruder film as jerk off material. Get someone who will approach the series rom a purely historical, non-biased aspect. There's lots of controversy and greatness to be drawn from this type of material without going extreme on either point.
-
A fan of PMSNBC I see.
And yeah, Herc is a douchebag with his "right wing" bullshit. Anino hit it right on the head. Leftists consider their ridiculous views to be mainstream. I for one hope they make this, but make it factually correct. The Kennedys span almost the whole of 20th century history and as such it could be very interesting. Obviously Joe Kennedy made a deal with the devil, which is why JFK, RFK, and John Jr. died way before their time, why Teddy Kennedy is fat old drunk clown singing spanish songs and having hilarious seizures that make him look pathetic. And I love how the Libs say that bullshit Reagan movie was *slightly* unhagiographic. There was NOTHING in that film that made Reagan out to be a saint or anything close to it. Brolin played him as an utter buffoon. Should the network have caved? Of course not. But to say that was an even handed portrayal of who Reagan was is insanity. But as we know, Liberalism is a mental disorder. And I think Ollie Stone was quite fair to Nixon, it was a good movie. Larry Hagman is the truth in that. W sucked cause Stone sucks now. Nixon was good cause Stone still had talent back then. Pretty easy to figure this all out. And Stone's JFK is one of the best movies of all time. -
On what basis are people saying this? Cause he is not a lock step Liberal moron, he must be a right wing nutcase?
-
You're looking for the word "cue". There is another word that sounds the same and means a line, but that's "queue". "Que" is Spanish for "what".
-
I'm sorry, a "blood thirsty rant"? I think I balanced my reasoning fairly well and I'd bet its the same mixed feelings most people will have with Kennedy does finally die, except for the most rapid of Leftists who will feel their political patron saint has passed on. But other than diehard Leftists, most people will feel awkward about giving Kennedy sainthood when he passes on BECAUSE of what he did that fateful day -- least rational people will. And for the record, I am a Christian, but that doesn't mean I similarly DON'T believe in justice being served upon someone who was ACTUALLY responsible firsthand and without question for the literal death of a fellow human being. Worse, Kennedy allowed Mary Jo to die in a prolonged and painful way, and Kennedy did it in the most cowardly of ways, too, for no other reason than to save his own ass. So, to that end, he is an utter living fuck underserving of mine or anyone else's sympathy.Oh wait - is this the point where you'll now shower us with your moral standards and tell us how much higher a plane of standards you live on? Is this where you'll all tell us what a saint Kennedy is? And how Mary Jo's death and the lifetime of lies that sprung from Chappaquiddick are of no consequence at all, and should simply be swept under the carpet? As I said, fucking bite me.
-
You see, your so-called "balance" in the first post came completely unraveled with this one. I'm not a self righteous idiot like you so I won't preach. I'm only pointing out that I hate it when so-called Christians preface a comment like "I'll smile when this person or that person dies" with "the Christian part of me". It's utter fucking bullshit. Don't call yourself a Christian to justify wanting another human being dead. Just say you want that person dead. Don't think saying you're a Christian will make your blood lust any less disturbing. And by the way, Kennedy is by no means a saint, but he's spent half a century devoting his life to public service. You, on the other hand, are posting in a talkback and throwing feigned, self righteous indignation around like it's going out of style.

or Half Hour News Hour. This project will be botched. Of course you can write a 10 hour series about how corrupt the Kennedys were, but why get the guy responsible for one of the worst TV shows ever attempted.
-
do I have to come on here and explain things and strighten things out...Fox News and MSNBC both when generally reporting the news are doing just that, reporting news, however their choice in COMMENTATORS couldn't be more different. Commentary is what people like O'Reilly, Olbermann, Maddow, hannity, Scarbourgouh, Beck, Van Susteran, Matthews do. These are shows that may talk about the news, that may report stories but ultimately are COMMENTARY shows. That means they are OPINION. Has anyone ever watched Fox News or MSNBC in the morning/afternoon...THEY JUST REPORT THE NEWS. Calling one "an abomination" or "The Evil Network" or another "PMSNBC" is ridiclous and disparages good healthy political debate
-
called himself that. a right wing nutcase.
-
america was a much more innocent place. I saw a terrific documentary about bobby kennedy. in a nutshell. He wouldnt listen to anyone. not even members of his own staff. Who warned him that he should tighten up his security. but Bobby kennedy didnt listen. The kennedys were hated by a lot of powerful people. Even when john Kennedy came to the ancestral home in Ireland. The Gardai recieved a death threat. and they didnt reveal that untill a couple of years ago. While my mother was dying my brother got her the tapes of Letters from america, one of the most fascinating stories was of a man who tried to kill John Kennedy after he came out of church with Jackie and his family. This man who was locked away in a mental institution try to blow up kennedy. that predated John Kennedys assisination by a decade. the bomb didnt go off and the police raided this mans house and the plans they found were very detailed. it was around that time that john and jackie lost thier child.
-
This rises above the issue of being Christian or not, so that's a silly point to focus on or to squabble about. This goes to a universal sense of justice we can all feel in our gut whether you're religious or not. Kennedy killed a woman and he got away with it. So when he passes on, it's only natural that many people will feel that justice caught up with him. He killed someone, now his life is over, so a balance has been struck. I don't see that as being blood thirsty per se. That's just a basic human reaction of wanting to see things evened out somehow. So I gotta go with Big Ape in saying I won't shed many tears over Kennedy given what he did and got away with.Personally, what pisses me off about Kennedy is he got a woman killed by being a drunken slob and he continued to be a drunken slob for pretty much the rest of his life. The stupid ass killed a woman and he never bothered to change his ways. It just feels like he laughed his way out of it. When he dies it will be interesting to see how the media even addresses Chappaquiddick in their funeral coverage. I'm betting Fox will ram it home and piss off the Left. Meanwhile MSNBC won't even mention it and piss off the Right. So once again politics will be played out by our joke of a media and today's corrupt and incredibly biased news organizations.
-
Who try blow up kennedy. Went to a lot of trouble had security people he knew follow the kennedys. He took very detailed notes of the kennedys movements. even down to where he went to church. The plan was to kill the kenneddys outside the church where john and the family were regular attendees. This guy knew where Kennedys parked there car. the plan was to park the car bomb close to the kennedys car and detonate it when the kennedys had left the church and had gotten into thier car to go home.
-
PURE TRASH!
-
You can't ignore that Joseph Kennedy (the father, not the son that died in WWII) was a complete asshat. Focus on him, and the miniseries is a possibility. Trying to slander JFK (RFK would be minor if it ends in 1960 like it sounds like it will) won't work in selling this, so I would recommend sticking to the asshat father, and paint all the corruption in the 1960 election as something done outside of JFK's purview.
-
Let's see. Bootlegging, sexual depravity, political back stabbing, the mob, the threat of nuclear war? What is there not to like. A scene with Teddy and Chris Dodd making a cocktail waitress sandwhich would be worth the price of admission.
-
Everyone seems to forget that
-
He wasn't a saint (nothing like an assassination to boost the ol' approval ratings), but outside of flip-flopping on the Bay of Pigs his administration was pretty solid. Definitely light years ahead of the current Pelosi/Reid administration.

I like how Joel Surnow is a "right-wing" producer and whatnot
by neomyers
So, does that mean that EVERY single other person that makes something in Hollywood is a "left-wing, liberal" producer, writer, etc? Probably not... because, see, it's all about controlling language. By labeling conservatives, republicans, what have you and not labeling democrats and liberals, it creates the perception that libs and dems are the norm, whereas cons and repubs need a modifier to understand who they are. Or, more importantly, to point out their biases to the public.
-
What the fuck are you talking about? Seriously. A pretty big chunk of the middle east is Islamic (or did you somehow forget that?), Asia is dominated by various forms of ancestor worship and Africa is still full of many, made shades of Shamanism. The world has not "worked out" that religion is "bullshit," you ignorant dick. Pick up a fucking book sometime.
-
Like I said, left wingers rarely refer to themselves as left wing because they see themselves as main stream, as the norm. If you're NOT left wing, then to them, you're obviously a right winger. And based on what left-wingers write about right wingers, it's also obvious they don't really understand what right-wingers are about. So they go on to define a group that they're not a part of, by perpetuating stereotypes: right wingers are racist, they're homophobes, they're xenophobes, and they're all religious nuts. After defining what they think constitutes a right winger, they believe the caricature they created, and use it as a launching pad for attack. When you disparage a group you aren't a part of, and that you don't understand, that's bigotry.
-
Let's see. Liberals get ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, Wash Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune and the vast majority of other major newspapers. What do Conservatives get??? Fox News and talk radio.
-
I can't understand why Liberals just don't admit the advantage they have in news and entertainment coverage.
-
Starring Tonya Harding as the Thrilla from Wasila?
BTW it's been 5 months since the election and she's still bitching about the Liberal media. Get over it. Same goes for y'all. -
I love how some of you folks know, KNOW, that Kopechne was alive for hours after the car went into the water.
The only reason that story is around is because the guy who found the car says she was in a position where an air pocket could have been, if there were an air pock. Well guess what? If that is where an air pocket would have formed, it is also where anything in the car that floated would have moved to.
And how do you folks have all this forensic evidence you claim if there was never a proper autopsy? What did you do rob the grave and take Khandi Alexander with you? -
"Bitching?" It matters as far as news goes because the press is supposed to be an independent watchdog on government, crime, education, etc. The press should report on everyone the same because it serves the public to be informed as completely as possible. I tolerate right-leaning FoxNews because if it wasn't there, who would report on critical aspects of the Obama administration as well as societal topics that other networks don't (ie: increase in fatal Islamic domestic violence in US, PC run amok, etc.). Similarly, the overwhelming majority of liberals in entertainment media matters for two reasons: one, they produce products rife with liberal ideology and messaging--which is fine, by the way, free speech and all that. But there is rarely an alternative presented and when it is, it's heavily criticized (ie: 24, when it did its islamic terrorism season and Kiefer had to give a disclaimer before the episodes). Which brings me to point #2, because just about all the big wigs are left-leaning they hire like-minds, which only perpetuates the problem. So, in the end, while fairness is a big issue on this topic, it is more about the disservice this bias does to viewers and society at large.
-
Do I insult your beliefs? Do I equate your atheism with stupidity? Frankly, I don't care what you believe. I'm no bible-thumping, church-going Christian either--I believe in God, yes, but for a reason. You see, I also read and comprehend science--like evolution, astronomy, etc. And from those sciences that explain how infinitesimal the odds are that life could have formed on our planet--or any planet--and that humans would have evolved into not only very biologically complex organisms, but also intelligent, self-reflective thinkers--I believe that there is a higher power, some intelligent design in our creation. And you're the proof, my friend; the fact you can string together two slightly comprehensible sentences is quite miraculous.
-
...got our current President elected. That and the naive youth vote. And look how well that's working out...
-
How is your obvious militancy towards Christian and/or conservatives and different then Jerry Fallwells towards those he didn't agree with. I abhor your mindset. Also, I guess your smarter then... Bernard d'Espagnat, Michał Heller, John D. Barrow and many others. But hey, good luck to you. You can be as bigoted as you want in the good 'ol USA. Leave nuance to the adults.
-
Compare the platforms of the Democrats and Republicans. Next, look at some polls. If you do that you will find that 70% of Americans agree with the Democrats. Only about 30% of Americans side with the Republicans. The GOP can shine up their shit as much as they want, but it's still the same old shit. The only way they can get the Presidency and Congress back is if they either a) change their views or b) demonize the Democrats by making Americans afraid of them. It all hinges on the economy. So far the big, bad, Socialistic Obama plan is working. The stock markets are up. Sales of homes are up. It turns out that businesses love it when the government actually gives a damn.
-
Uh, no it's not. February home sales wouldn't have been effected by anything congress did. And the stock market still hasn't recovered to 1/20/09 levels.
Does that mean it won't work? Of course not. But please dial back your talking points to conform to reality. -
They're all crooked. Each side wants to believe in the righteousness of their own. All of history is filled with liars, cheats and crooks. Nice, honest people don't rise to power. I don't see anything wrong with a historical drama based on the Kennedys, Reagans, Bushes or whoever. They've all got their dirt, and any of you that think their shit doesn't stink are just plain ignoring reality. When you play "king of the mountain" you don't *ask* to be on top.
-
You're portraying caricature, a joke, really. I guess I presupposed intelligence. My fault, since I'm an "arbiter of assholism", guess I'll see you in the editorial cartoons. You know, some day you'll have to recognize the humanity in those you disagree with. I hope that day is sooner rather then later.
-
(admittedly in a tea cup). an artist painted three oil paintings of our current leader. in the nude. without his permission and hung in the national gallery and RHA(Royal Hibernian Academy) they were both spotted and taken down. One painting showed him holding up a pair of underwear. another one was of him urinating(that one will never see the light of day) and one of him sitting on the toilet. The paintings displayed were the ones with Cowan holding showing the underwear and the one of him sitting on the toilet. it was a news item on the news. 24hrs later RTE apologised for showing the item and for any hurt to mr cowans family. We also know that The offices of Today fm were visited by the Gardai. Who told the producers to hand over the email that was sent to them by the artists. if they didnt they get a warrant and get it. The artist was questioned by the gardai and had to hand over 5 paintings. RHA and the national musuem naver gave permission for the paintings to hung up. Somebody somwehwere told RTE to apologise. RTE is independent when it comes to the broadcast of news. So why did they apologise. Oliver Callans nob nation is constantly portraying the leader as a drunken buffon and RTE has done the same thing. Fianna fail are very sensitive about these things. Nob nation repeatedly calls the irish govt the Drinks cabinet. Brian Cowan likes a drink.

I don't consider someones voting record when considering if they're a socio-path. And yeah, I "faith God", I'm sorry you don't think I have value as a human because of that. I'm a seriously fucked up human, as ALL humans are. I just want to be shown the respect that I show others. That doesn't happen when you call others "passive aggressive assholes", "stick you finger up your ass again and see what comes out-- oh, just the same old shit? thought so.....", "Republicans + Christians =
Fucking idiots on the planet! You assholes believe in a dead talking guy guiding your lives from a mansion in the clouds-why should anyone care what you think-- about anything?". I'm just sick of it, and this is the last I'm posting about it. I hope someday you become a real boy. -
I thought I heard HBO wanted to take a crack at makinga series out of this. It's fictional but it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't some truth in the behavior when it comes to the Kennedy's, Hoover, and Hoffa. Great book, would have made a great miniseries
-
as other have said, Joe Kennedy was a legitimately awful human being. He was a Nazi sympathizer and heavily tied into organized crime.
RFK was a big part of the McCarthy era. Worked with Ray Cohen and the House Un-American Activities Committee. Sure, he ran as a liberal in '68, and was a lot better than his father and JFK when it came to some things, but he was no saint.
And Teddy did kill a woman and get away with it. I'm sorry, but he did. He didn't mean to, but by his actions he might as well have been holding her head underwater.
I say take the "American Tabloid" approach as well. America was never innocent.
Also, "The Reagans" made the mistake of making up stories out of whole cloth to fit their narrative. There's so much verifiable and creepy stuff about the Kennedy's that been verified over the years that I doubt Surnow would have to make up anything. As long as he makes the characters human, I say lets see them in all their tarnished glory. -
If somebody wants to do an honest look at the Kennedy family, good or bad, that's a worthwhile effort. There's a lot of material there and it could be an excellent historical work. Something on the Bush family would be equally fascinating. The issue here is that this is being shopped by Surnow, who hasn't ever shown any interest in honest and even-handed writing and who took "24" from being "24" to being a parody of "24" to being a parody of a parody of an absurd fantasy-world "24" in only about five seasons. So no thanks.

Great Timing. I wonder how the big tough conservatives would have handled a Reagan smear piece while he was dying of Alzheimers? Conservatives are liars and hypocrites. You can't be 'conservative' in this day and age without subscribing to double think: "Pro-life"-pro-gun-pro-death-penalty-prowar, "christian" moralists who support aggressive wars and hate poor people, 'fiscal conservatives' who double the debt and enlarge the government and enshrine corporate socialism, 'pro-military' but they cut veterans benefits and ruin the military, 'america firsters' who outsource jobs and encourage work visas... Any time conservatives joke it just seems like a bunch of crooked assholes laughing about how they screwed the American people, THAT's why they have a hard time being funny, and the fact that you have to live in Republican-doublethink-bizarro world to understand the jokes, and most Americans live mostly in the real world. That said, I could care less if they smear the Kennedys. But if they get to have an ultra-conservative smear piece on the Kennedys (while Teddy is dying, ferchrissakes) then we get to make a straight up factual piece about the class warfare of the Reagan-Bush crime syndicate, showing how the jingoistic and greedy ultra-right presidents have ruined America and destroyed her superpower status without any of your pathetic, mascara smearing tantrums. Jeeze, I just love it when conservatives call liberals the whiny ones. You guys are like third-grade bullies: you talk tough and call names but run screaming and sobbing the first time you get insulted back. Buncha bitches.
-
Maybe the thrilling conclusion to hour 6 will be JFK hacking off RFK's arm with a fire ax to get the tracker for the Cuban nukes and stuff it down Khruschev's throat just as the nukes are launched. He'll say: "THERE'S NO TIME BOBBY! DAMNIT!" Hour 4 can end with RFK hacking off a mob guy's head so he can go undercover with the Giancana family.
-
PJ O'Rourke used to be a very funny conservative, in a libertarian bent. He's kind of lost his edge though; I think the 8-year Bush Abomination really did a number on him.
-
There are over 300 breeds of dog in the world. I can't wait for the show to reveal Teddy's decision process in ultimately choosing a Portuguese Waterdog and naming it Splash. That's hellish irony, folks. Roll it around in your head for a bit, like a fine merlot.
-
Your entire monologue could have been lifted from any given episode of The Daily Show. "Yep, conservatives are hypocrites because they support gun rights AND are pro-life." DURR! If we were to oppose things on the grounds that "they kill" we wouldn't drive cars anymore. Auto accidents kill far more people than guns do. But then again... guns don't have sentience. Neither do cars. PEOPLE have been killing people since long before guns came into the picture. Just more political red-herring from an ideology whose solution to every problem is: have the government deal with it. Also, I'm interested to see this "real world" that you live in. And one last thing, republicans doubled the debt and spent us into oblivion with a lot of help from democrats. Conservatives did not. There IS a difference.
-
from a liberal like myself, thank you, sir for the mediation :)
bipartisanship, folks!

that the american state killed the kennedys and brought an end to Teddy Kennedys presidential ambitions. Rumours have it that somebody put a poltical gun to Ted kennedys head on the day he was to be endorse as the democrats pres candidate. Here is the weird thing about the whold incident. The evidence which was heard at kennedys grand jury trial, even today reamins classified. it was permanently sealed. He was questioned at some length by the police. Kennedy thought that the police transcripts would remains in the hands of the police. and that is what he thought. yet something very odd happened. instead of announcing his candidacy. Teddy kennedy announcend that his dreams for the presidency were over. rumours have abounded for years that a gun was put to his head that if he continued the police transcripts would be released and that he would have been destroyed. So kennedy quit the race. elements of the cia who were reportedly abandoned by john kennedy after they were given orders to kill castro swore revenge on the entire Kennedy family.
-
your all some sandy vaginas... simmer down :D
-
Probably because most people don't wear tinfoil hats trying to keep the CIA from controlling our brains with their satellite waves.
(That said, I wear a tinfoil hat -- but only because I'm trying to avoid being possessed by the Hilton Cabal. The CIA doesn't scare me as much as Paris does) -
It sounds like from the description that Ted wouldn't be a major character -- it sounds like it would end when JFK gains the White House in 1960. I could be wrong, and it may go up until 1980 (with a detour through 1968), but let's face it: the story becomes a lot less compelling after the elder Kennedy strokes out in '61.
-
I try to be rational and pragmatic and honest; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
-
It is feasible that the housing sales increase in February can be attributed to the Pelosi/Reid Stimulus Package; I was incorrect to cry 'too soon'. However, I would state that one has to be careful with using one data point to indicate a trend.
-
The family is in a lot of pain right now, what with Ted's health as bad as it is, and it reminds me of a similar situation where CBS pulled that Reagan movie. I'm glad they did because it was just cruel to put such a smear job on the air when the man himself was still alive.
-
So the Kennedys are like Mother Theresa? I have a hard time imagining even the most brain-dead lefty making that comparison with a straight face. Especially given Papa Joe's Nazi sympathies, JFK's known drug use and womanizing (including turning AF1 into a brothel), Teddy's boozing and womanizing leading to vehicular manslaughter and cover-up. And that's just what jumps to mind right off the bat...
-
You sir are the epitome of proof that Liberalism is a mental disorder. Either that or you're a parody troll trying to make Liberals look bad. You support abortion right? Man I wish your whore of a mother did. That way we wouldn't have to listen to such nonsense. Next thing you know this asshole will want to exhume Washington's corpse and try him for war crimes. Those stupid fuckin' forefathers with their guns and religion, what a bunch of fuckin' assholes!
Hey McGoo, you do realize you're living on stolen land founded by religious wackos who loved guns and owning slaves right? That's YOUR country idiot, live with it. Now go back to reciting talking points from MoveOn or Huffington Post or whatever bullshit news outlet you get your "facts" from. -
is taking it slow and easy, because internal tearing of the bowel can lead to sepsis.
-
You need to re familiarize yourself with your forefathers, son. The people who founded your country were far from religious wackos, infact a good many of them had nothing good at all to say about YOUR religion. Jefferson: ""I have examined all the known superstitions of the world and I do not find
in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature."
John Adams: "The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for
absurdity."
Thomas Paine: "I would not dare to so dishonor my Creator God by attaching His name to
that book."
James Madison: "Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty
have found in the clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government,
instituted to secure and perpetuate liberty, does not need the clergy."
Yeah, it kind of sounds like those guys shit on your retarded religion back then just as much as we do now. -

With Ted so sick and all.
I'd like to see this eventually, but why bring up a bunch of re-hashed Kennedy dirt at this time. -
I mean, did you see the alternatives? But I also voted Democrat for Governor during both of those elections, and I'm also didn't vote for Bush in the 2000 primary (I don't understand why all the people who accused Obama on the experience front didn't do the same to W)
As for Thomas Paine, while I appreciate his contributions to the American cause, he was pretty far out there with his belief system relative to the time (iirc, he sided with Robespierre in the mid-1790s) and really isn't considered one of the forefathers. -
Because this is to notify you that any answer you give may be a violation of the Americans With Humor Impairment Act and subject you to fines of not less than $100,000 and imprisonment of up to 5 years, or both.
-
more boring than a Kennedy mini series is this godawful talkback. "Conservatives are idiots!" "Liberals are douchebags!" I'm so fucking bored with the tiny-brained, self-obsessed shitbirds who can't actually use their minds with even the teeniest bit of subtlety or charity. Go the fuck away. All of you. Or at the very least try to conjure up one fucking atom of humility and keep your vacant bullshit from invading the world. Fucking useless children...
-
So, then... Who gave us our rights?Hint: It's in the Constitution.
-
"he will only get spittle on your conciliatory face from laughing so hard at you for such a suggestion"Did this guy pay any attention last year? Maybe he's from Bizarro world where everything is backward.
-
Ted Kennedy looks to have eaten plenty of lions in his day. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up it was a lion's gall bladder stuck in his cranium from not having chewed and swallowed properly.
-
it's no different than Hollywood making movies about the tobacco industry, big oil, big pharma, etc. They always make big industry out to be the bad guy, usually part of some cabal bent on world domination.
And of course there's always some guy who is the poor schmuck that is trying to spill the beans or turn the tables on these evil corporations, and his family is always victimized... well, you know the story. Constant Gardner or The Insider, or Civil Action or any of a hundred other movies where the bad guys are evil greedy Capitalist Pigs.
I am going to bet that Fox's version of the Kennedy family will probably be more complimentary to the Kennedys than they deserve. I bet this Kennedy miniseries treats that family a lot more fairly than they deserve. Especially that fat, alcoholic son of a bitch Ted. -
Gosh, I wonder what her next documentary is going t be about?
-
The assisination of Robert Kennedy. paved the way for Bush and cheney. Indeed if you look at the 1960s. it is more than a little coincidental that all of the major political campaigners from the John and Robert Kenneddy to Malcolm X to Medger Evers to Martin luther king were all killed from 1963 onwards. almost like a hitlist.
-
David Palmer would be a kickass President.
-
and to the die hard republicans they were socilaists. Kennedy and company wanted to heal america's division. help the poor. and end americas racial problems. that was a threat to some. The kenneddys had also made very powerful enemies in the military.
-
Hey, you know something? Both my grandparents on my mother's side died of cancer. I've lost two cousins and an uncle to cancer too. My wife has lost and aunt and two uncles to cancer as well as her great-grandmother.Has to be a conspiracy. I blame Jon Osterman, of course.
-
Teddy Kennedy was in a car crash? A drunken car crash? And somebody died? Well shucks, way to bring this to my attention, conservative AICN talkback posters.
And part of the reason conservative humour isn't funny is because it's so goddamned mean-spirited. Pour exemple, Limbaugh thinks making fun of a guy with Parkinson's (for having Parkinson's!) is a laugh and a half. If Jon Stewart started ragging on Thalidamide babies, I'd have a tough time thinking anything else he had to say was particularly clever or funny. -
"Limbaugh thinks making fun of a guy with Parkinson's (for having Parkinson's!) is a laugh and a half"Our president thinks making fun of a guy in the Special Olympics (for being in the Special Olympics!) is a laugh and a half.Fuck Limbaugh.
-
I always thought Logan never got a fair shake. We have no idea what his economic policy was. You get focused on one little act of treason and suddenly the guy loses his whole legacy.
-
I wasn't old enough to vote for him the first time. In the big picture, I still stand by that vote because I think his stance on the War on Terror and islamo-fascism is the proper approach to islamic fundamentalist terrorists. But as far as economically and socially, Bush ISN'T a conservative. He's a republican and a moderate one at that. And what am I deflecting? Ask me something and I'll answer it. And as for this liberal myth that only liberals are funny (a convenient belief FOR liberals), especially MiketheSpike's example, I can think of several HILARIOUS South Parks that did very similar things and were, as stated before, very funny. The one where Kenny died and Cartman was peddling dead baby fetuses is similarly obscene, but damned funny. And YES, a conservative who found humor in something abortion related. OH GOD! Now McGooCain can't paint me into his little box of what conservatives are supposed to be like.
-
But we already have an actor in the white house.
-
and the cover up? or old man Kennedy's using the mob to fix the election for Jack?
-
That's Mary Jo not Mary Anne. she was killed in pond not on Gilligan's Island.
-
Hey, I'm not gonna pretend I was particularly pleased with Obama saying that, but if we're going to compare the two there are a few distinctions:
- Obama apologized before the show even made it to air, and has shown contrition. By contrast, Limbaugh still thinks he's gotten a good one over on a Parkinson's sufferer (and one I'd assume genre fans might have some affection for).
- Obama is just the president. Limbaugh's an entertainer, and seems to think he's quite a funny one at that. He's a face on the conservative political humour scene (witness his witless appearances on the 1/2 Hour News Hour), and I think most people would agree he's a pretty repugnant guy, politics aside. -

by bravogolfhotel
Who's buying TEN-HOUR historical miniseries these days? I mean, I'd love to see more historical drama, but it's a very big a$k in the modern Balkanized TV landscape, even when there isn't a recession on; even HBO doesn't commit those kind of resources without Tom Hanks being involved. Good luck to Mr. Surnow.

"Mitch catches a good wave. Mitch wipes out. Mitch wipes out Cissy. Cissy shows Butchie how to do that. Cissy wipes Butchie out. Butchie hurts Barry's head. Mister Rollins comes in Barry's face. My Father runs the Mega-Millions. I don't know Butchie instead.

Conservative media owners? Has your dumbass never heard of Ted Turner?
-
still idiots.
-
who can dump out without leaving a stink.
-
Fox can do a tv series on the Kennedys. And, in both cases, three people will watch. Yawn.
-
smackfu - MY religion? First of all I'm a Jew, second of all I don't believe in God, or at the very least have big questions about whether such an entity exists. But I love revisionist Liberal bullshit trying to prove that the majority of founders were in fact atheists. Even if that were true, which it so isn't, what about them stealing land from Indians, killing Indians, owning slaves, loving guns. What about that stuff? How do the Liberal revisionists explain that shit away? And have you ever looked at the back of the one dollar bill? Yeah, real atheistic imagery there.
emeraldboy - it is proven fact that most assassins of US figures are actually left wing lunatics. Oswald was a Commie, SirHan Sirhan was a Leftist, Wilkes Booth was an actor. It is Leftists who think assassination is the way to go you fact deficient clod.
Has Teddy had any seizures lately? I need a good laugh. It's hilarious when evil people suffer. -
That motherfucker knew how to take care of business. Wish more Democrats took after him. At least he knew the necessity of torture as an interrogation technique. Long live David Palmer! Hell I'll even take Wayne Palmer at this point.
-
is stupid and arrogant. Not because he rails against "leftists", but because he lacks humility and pollutes our civilization, in his very small way, with hate. Be bigger and better than that.
-
Not just a slogan, but a punchline! Papa Joe wasn't a saint by any stretch, but we'll be lucky if he's not drawn as Nazi vampire transvestite.
-
nothing worse than a jew who doesnt believe in god and is still a neocon fascist fuck no libs try and paint the founders as athiests...they were mostly deists believing in god, but they all went out of their way to keep the church from having too much influence in government...that is why we have a constitutionsirhan sirhan was a pali you stupid fuck...palestinians are leftists...they are fucking wingnuts, like you oh, and it was right wing nuts that blew up the ok fed building...its right wing nuts that run around as crazed militia as for torture...you have never served...have you...why dont you speak to john mccain on why we should not and cannot torture prisoners as for the asshat who wants to make the kennedy's look like shit....it will end up on fox...and no one will watch it as for the distortions in regards to kennedy stealing the 60 election because of chicago, i suggest everyone take a look at the electoral college vote...the popular vote was close, but even losing illinois, and kennedy wins handily
-
I've read Six Crises (what? shoot me, it's a very fascinating read), and wasn't simply Illinois. There was one other state that could've gone Nixon -- I can't remember which one -- that would've delivered the election for him. Illinois has been corrupt politically for about a century now, so it's kind of the default conspiracy argument. But 1960 was more than just Illinois.
Good call on Logan. For all we know he had one killer civil rights plan that got shot to shit due to his paranoid schizophrenic wife and an agent who can't follow the rules. Free Charles Logan! -
the makers of southpark are not funny and bush is neither a conservative on foreign nor domestic issues a true conservative doesnt start a war where we were not attacked by that country no, bush is a neocon...the neocon belief is to spend the government into oblivion so that there can never be another new deal policy, and the united states becomes one huge third world country and he may have succeeded
-
Tell me exactly how I am a neocon. What view do I hold that makes me not conservative, but that twisted liberal you guys like to call neocons? Or is that just some buzzword you like to throw around. Tell me my friend, how can I be a neocon if I opposed the Iraq War? How can I be a neocon if I support cutting off all foreign aid to Israel, whatever form it takes? And how can I be a neocon if I oppose the use of our troops unless American security is endangered, which it was not in Iraq OR Afghanistan? But fuck that, why let the truth get in the way?
Re: the founders - does it say God anywhere in the documents they created? How can we trust a document created by people who believe a magic man lives in the sky? I'm asking you, how?
And thanks, I know Palestinians are Leftists, like Sirhan Sirhan was. Thanks for proving my point you non-proof reading ignoramus. Nothing to say on Oswald I see, or are you a conspiracy nut? Right wingers blew up the Oklahoma fed building? And? I never said the right was innocent, I said they don't try to assassinate US leaders, Leftists do.
Why would I talk to that dope John McCain? He's all shell shocked and shit, and the torture worked on him cause he folded like a little bitch. And speaking of the founders, if something like a 9/11 happened on their watch I am SURE they would be against torturing the perpetrators or their allies. How fucking stupid are you Leftists? Oh and I see you keep ignoring the whole guns and slaves issue. Why? No talking points on MoveOn for you to cut and paste?
As for the Kennedys, no apostrophe you idiot, one doesn't need to want to make them look like shit. They do a fine job themselves.
And Kennedy wins handily? I don't even give a fuck about the stolen election or what even happened, but to say he wins handily is being willfully obtuse. It was a close election no matter how you slice it. Stolen or not. And every election is stolen. Votes are bought and paid for. Bush stole his win, Obama stole his, the next guy will steal theirs. It's the way of the world unless your name is David Palmer.
And what a right wing loon Surnow is!! Making a black guy president???? Crazy fucking conservatives!! They'll do anything!! -
if you could support bush's faux war on terror, which has done absolutely nothing to lessen either terror or the rise of al quiada and you stupid fuck, palestinians are not leftists...islam by its very being cannot be leftist...even the secular muslims arent leftists, or have you not read the reports of gay arabs running to israel for protection from their loving brethren and kennedy won 303 electoral votes...shoulda been more, but the crackers in the south cast electoral votes for some racist dem i wont even go back to the torture question...you are dead wrong you are in fact, a dead wrong, heathen bastard
-
I'll be sure to bring your concerns to our next group meeting.
-
Bush spent like there is no tomorrow, and Obama will outspend him. Both want to attack the middle east until every brown person is dead. They have the same economic advisers who are failures. Bush created Homeland Security. Obama wants to create a Civilian National Security Force. If this country is to survive, people need to learn about the elite players who control both parties.
-
Your Jefferson quote is bogus, according to Monticello:
http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/Superstition_of_Christianity
Your Adams quote is spurious, per Wikiquote:
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/John_Adams
Your Madison quote seems to have originated from the same source that created the Adams quote, so I suspect it's fake as well.
I didn't bother to look up the Paine quote. Although it's probably fake as well, it's not beyond what Paine (the only actual atheist among the FFs) would have thought. -
The other state was Texas, which, of course, was LBJ's home state. If challenges to the vote occured in both Illinois and Texas and Nixon ended up winning those two states, he would've had the exact 270 electoral votes he needed to win the election.
-
and kennedy won texas with close to 50k votes challenge if you want, but thats alot of votes to swing anyway, nixon was a fucking crook, from all the way back when he was a senator people didnt like him, they only didnt want to vote for kennedy, because he was a catholic
-
but it corresponds with what I remember from Six Crises. And yes, 46K would've been tough to challenge. But perception is perception. That Nixon should've won the 1960 election is as much of a "truth" as Gore should've won the 2000 election. (But if you'll recall I've already defended JFK)
-
in 2000, the question was about one state...not 2...and it wasnt 46000 votes and in fact, there were challenges after the 1960 election, and unlike in 2000, when repugs sent operatives to try and stop the recount, that was not done in 60 nixon took the high ground, but he had operatives attempt to change the results and does it matter? was nixon not a crook?
-
Kennedy didn't win Texas, LBJ won Texas.
-
2000, in my mind, isn't*: 9/11 still would've happened, Afghanistan still would've happened, Iraq would've been likely to happen (I think it would've been delayed until the UN finally caved ... and hopefully it would've been managed better), Gore wins reelection in 2004, and the economy still collapses in 2008.
But 1960? Wow. Would Nixon have helped in the Bay of Pigs? Oh yeah. Would it have worked? Unknown, but if it does, no Cuban Missile Crisis. Vietnam? Impossible to say. Ditto the 1964 election, Civil Rights, well everything. It was a very critical election.
Was Nixon a crook? Probably no more than any other politician back then (LBJ sure as heck wasn't a saint). But Watergate happens because of the losses Nixon suffers in the 60s -- it feeds his arrogance and paranoia (which is why Six Crises is such a fascinating read). I strongly suspect a 1960 President Nixon would've been a lot less likely to go down that path than the 1972 President Nixon did.
*As we get further removed from 2000, the various permutations and possibilities make it more interesting. Does Kerry win the 2008 Democratic Nomination? Does anyone outside of Chicago ever even hear of Barack Obama? Etc. -
Wiki is a fine source. Just try and change a page as I have on many a Saturday night and not have some total loser fix it within five minutes. Seriously, you anti-Wikians are just going to have to accept that it's as reliable as anything else.

Does Lieberman win the 2008 nomination, is the question.
-
about the Bush dynasty, and Prescott Bush's ties to the Business Plot and the Union Banking Corp. There, now both sides can indulge in hyperbolic speculation. It's sad when people treat political parties like football teams one must swear allegiance to and defend at all costs. Someone who constantly throws around terms like leftists or fascists (depending on one's imagined enemies) as if these labels have any meaning in regards to your average person, is clearly a paranoid loon. Someone can wake up one day and say, "hey, I'm a Republican...no, no, I'm a Libertarian...no, wait, I'm for the Green Party." Whatever.
-
As for bacci40, well, the less said the better. Per our President, retards are not to be made fun of. Guy doesn't even know what a neocon is, just thinks everyone on the right is a neocon cause that is what Jon Stewart told him.
-
Don't forget Bush's ties to Nazis. I think the Bush family is ripe for a fact based historical drama. Both the father and son were royal fuck ups, and if only Jeb had won his first shot at gov, we never would have heard of W. Oh, to dream.
-
You have to admit that JKF was one lucky SOB that the internet wasn't around during his Presidency.
-
Lieberman has too many knocks against him, even in an alternate timeline when he was VP. I doubt he'd pull enough support from the Democratic faithful to win the nom in 2008. 2012 is a possibility depending on whether a Republican won in 2008 (probably likely after 16 years of one party) and whether a 'hawk' is necessary.
-
Bush lied and soldiers died!!
Obama won, wingbuts bought guns!!!

up to and including his death. He brought the troops home and ended the vietman war. But he kept his hatred for Robert Kennedy very quiet.
-
That was Nixon (and well, Ford, since Saigon was evac'd in 1975), not LBJ.
-
whether he is in good health or not is totally irrelevant. The man is murderous scum, soon to get his reward.
-
but of course, it's the Republicans who are the racists, no?

will not facilitate an economic recovery by giving millions to the scum in ACORN. The economy WILL survive the ignorant asshole currently residing in the White House thanks to those you fucktards snidely call "the rich" (see, us grownups refer to them as "employers".). Now you may resume your lonely masturbation sessions, jacking your tiny sausages to your Chomsky on tape selections...
-
Instead of responding to people that disagree with them, they simply cuss, name call, and tell them to go away? Is that because it's such an effective way to validate that they're right? Whatever happened to civilized debate? Is it SO offensive to a lot of lefties that there are actually other people that don't think the same way they do? When they're faced with an argument or fact that DOESN'T confirm their deep rooted dogma, instead of considering the merits of it, they automatically foam at the mouth, blame Bush, Halliburton, the neocons, the war in Iraq. It's really sad. Besides--Obama won the White House. Reid controls the Senate. Pelosi controls congress. Dems have every reason to be happy...but they always sound so dissatisfied and angry, still. It's so deranged. Be happy for once. Why are they such bitter, sore winners?

...are allowed to control a state. South Dakota is the most Conservative state in America, and it is also the poorest. In fact, if you Rightwings idiots (Maverick68) would check to see the 10 poorest states in America, most of them are "Red" states. They consistantly vote Republican, and they are consistantly poor. Also, these poor, red states take more federal dollars for things like welfare than they contribute in tax dollars. The liberal Blue states, like New York, are forced to support states like South Dakota. Its interesting that New York, which has been a consistant "Blue" state, is also one of the richest. I would like to add that California, while very much Blue, has also had a string of bad Republican governors, including the late, great Ronald Wilson Reagon (666).

Republicans used Affirmative Action to elect Steele...
by leafar the lost
It truly amazes me when Rightwingers claim to not be racists when they oppose Affirmative Action. According to their doctrine, the best people will rise to the top of any profession, and the color of their skin does not matter. That sounds good, but its kind of funny that the best people always end up being white guys. I think that the election of Michael Steele as the head of the RNC is a prime example of affirmative action. What exactly are his qualifications besides being a black guy? Its also kind of funny that Steele is currently being ignored by the party that is supposed to be in charge of. Rush Limbaugh is the true leader of the Republicans, and I hope they all follow him into Hell...

Steele gave a kick ass speech at the RNC in 2004 after serving at the higher level of Maryland state government. So his qualifications are pretty equivalent to Barack Obamas. Plus he's got a kick ass 'stach.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jindal has a vagina.

Michael Steele does not.

Good point on Workfare. It's fine if the work is in your area, but if not, the program ends up destabilizing the families it's supposed to help. American's are so afraid of socialism -- except of course the spendy-McSpend Spend policies of GWB.

Did you even read what the point of the vigil was? While I agree it's probably in poor taste so soon after the killing of the officers, the poitn of the vigil is to bring light to the fact that the supposed rehabilitation efforts of our prison systems have utterly failed, and that only spending money on actual economic development and education, rather than more prisons and police, might just be the solution to the problem. They aren't doing it to spit in the face of the police, they are doing it to bring attention to the plight of poor working-class blacks that have been neglected by society. The ywant and end to the violence as much as anyone. Did you grow up dirt poor and black with little or no opportunities? I didn't think so. wh ydon't you listen to wha tthese peopel have to say instead of prejudging them based on your skewed ideology?

I have seen it, Iahve seen the water there- there is no doubt in my mind that he killed her. You would have to strap a rocket engine to the limo they were in and sent it shooting 200 mph to land in water deep enough for her ot just drown naturally. The limo was locked, there were scratches in the roof.
She was pregnant with his child, he killed her. That's it. The entire family is a bunch of crooked, drunk, womanizing jerk-offs. -

Lets critize obama for not fixing in 100 days a mess that the previous president took 8 years to completely create.
Gotta love people who think that the crisis this country is in can be corrected in a matter of days or weeks or even months... It demonstrates a truly impressive amount of ignorance.
I don't see your people coming up with any sort of budget, Wizard... Oh wait, you say, but Republicans have a plan! They can fix it! Ok, well I'm open minded, lets check out your budget, guys!
"Here it is, Mr. President" Says John Boner says, waving the report dramatically (yes, he pronounces Boehner "Bayner" but who the fuck is he kidding).
...Wait, Mr. Boner... is this it? But... There's no numbers in this plan... Oh, we'll get numbers when? In a few WEEKS? Well, why is it only 18 pages long...
And why are there pictures? Isn't this supposed to be a document that's going to save our country from the worse economic crisis in 80 years? This isn't a fucking resort brochure. The broadness and blanket statements are an insult to the intelligence of everyone who reads it.
Typical republicans... All criticism with not a single suggestion or new idea to back it up. I fucking love how they're imploding lately and we don't even have to lift a finger. -
country is facing not being easily corrected is EXACTLY what got Obama elected. People seeing him as a saviour that was going to magically fix their troubles.
Let's not forget: our banking troubles are in a great part due to Dem Congressmen and their hacks working for ACORN threatening the lenders for not passing out loans to those who were unqualified to ever pay them back. -
Lefties wish death on someone with a different world view. Righties start wars and kill people with different world views by the boatload. And don't tell em iraq had anything to do with 9/11 because history has proven that it didn't.

We can all be glad that Dick Nixon wasn't in the White House. If he went along with the Bay of Pigs plan (and he would have), he would have had to commit U.S. forces. The Soviets could have seen this as an opportunity to move on Berlin, then you get NATO involved, people start firing their missiles and there goes the whole ballgame. As for the Kennedys, I admire the family and I think they're ripe for a fair portrayal, but I'm not sure if this will be it. And when I say I admire them, I don't mean that I deify them or anything, I admire them for their virtues and their vices. They're a quintessentially American story, which includes all of the bad with the good. Rowdy, the founders didn't believe in torture. They issued strict orders not to torture enemy combatants during the revolution, for fuck's sake. Those are some pretty heavy stakes there, A LOT heavier than 9/11, because anyone and everyone who fought for the revolution, if it failed, would be executed as traitors. I think that would make up a far larger portion of the population than 3,000 is to ours today. Most of the founding fathers were deists, and I don't know what point you're trying to make by saying they "loved guns" (debatable) and "they owned slaves" (very true). Times change. They stuck with slavery mostly for economic reasons, it was a deal with the devil, so to speak, to ensure economic prosperity for the young nation. So they weren't all that liberal by modern-day standards? Well, taking into account how they railed against religion and large corporate power, I would say they were, to an extent. The slavery issue is, of course, America's so-called "original sin" and it's a deeply regrettable one. But I would say of the major figures in the founding fathers, you might be able to say Hamilton was something of a conservative (he had monarchist leanings, to an extent), but most of the other major figures were either moderate or mostly liberal, I would say.

The problem with going by exactly what the founders believed in is that it's a slippery slope. Times change and the talk of nationalization is TEMPORARY nationalization, which can and should be carried out to prevent a collapse.

Speaking of politics, don't forget tomorrow is EARTH HOUR!!!
by big dumb ape
You know, because its not as if we don't have enough bullshit politically correct media stunts to make people feel good or to convince the truly stupid in the world that they're "saving the planet."Me, I plan to leave my lights ON for the hour as well as run a few other appliances during that 60 minutes. I have some clothes that need washing and some dirty dishes stacked up that I can run in the washer during that special 60 minutes. Plus, I'm gonna go out and fire up the grill and cook some meat just to add a nice smokey smell to the atmosphere, which is like a bonus since that will allow me to send a giant "fuck you" to PETA at the same time.
-
I respect you, yet you go too far.You and I know that the most voluminous greenhouse gas is water vapor. And "climate change" is measured in carbon dioxide. This equates to Al Gore claiming that the planet is being killed by plant food. Please let's remain on (scientifically justified) topic without resorting to the stereotypes afforded us by the "community organized" sheeple.
-
Earth Hour doesn't really do anything, but, like a bumper sticker, it's a good gesture. Because when SOMETHING needs to be done, it doesn't matter if that something actually works, as long as you DO SOMETHING. You don't like the war in Iraq? Put a bumper sticker on your car. Because everyone knows that bumper stickers protect innocent Iraqis from Al-qaeda suicide bombers. But it's symbolic, and that matters.
-
It's no time for jokes! Bush's illegal war got us into this economic mess! (foam at the mouth) bla bla bla Halliburton bla bla bla fuck you neocons!
-
Applause all around!
-
Very good point. Liberals only care about good intentions (unless it is a Republican with good intentions. Much as I loathe people like Bush, he had god intentions in my mind, he's just a foolish moderate). Doesn't matter if those intentions lead to ruin, their heart was in the right place, and that's what matters most to them! Same with their dream of Utopia on Earth, as evidenced by their love of almost every single totalitarian regime that has ever existed, with the Soviets being the latest and greatest to their mind. They don't care if you kill 60 million people as long as Utopia is your goal. Because think about it, if the perfect world is your goal, what lie won't you tell? What crime won't you commit to bring about that Utopia? Liberals deny the basic nature of man. Religious people think Utopia exists after death. Secular Leftists believe in Utopia on Earth. In my mind both are fantasies of somewhat deluded minds. But at least the religious people wait until they're dead. No such luck with Leftist scum.

Here's some cheerful news for ya, fella:
ShamWow pitchman Vince Shlomi was arrested on felony battery charges in Miami last month following a violent encounter with a hooker, according to The Smoking Gun:
Shlomi told cops he paid [Sasha] Harris about $1000 in cash after she "propositioned him for straight sex." Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue. The affidavit...notes that during the 4 AM fight Harris sustained facial fractures and lacerations all over her face.... After freeing his tongue, a bleeding Shlomi ran to the [hotel] lobby, where security summoned cops. Harris refused to cooperate with officers, who recovered $930 from her purse.

Tax cuts work. Maybe the Kennedy movie will show that--he cut taxes and revenue went up. Reagan cut taxes and revenue went up. W cut taxes and revenues actually went up.In fact, tax cuts work SO well that even Obama promised a tax cut for 95% of the voters. Remember? But now, it looks like even THAT is off the table now. Oops. So, the lesson here is, historically, tax cuts work. Tax hikes historically have never raised revenue. And tax cuts work as campaign promises.
-
and in conjunction with a spending freeze. Neither party will do that.

"Reagan cut taxes and revenue went up. W cut taxes and revenues actually went up."
Bullshit. Reagan cut some taxes, raised others. Bush cut taxes, and generated immediate deficits after Clinton's surpluses. -
Quin the Eskimo, to pick up what you said above, back during the election season BSB stood his ground quite well. Coming from the other side of the aisle, I may not agree with him on political things, but I will echo your post and say that BSB is a fair debater and he will call out Leftist bullshit when its in full force and in full view as much as he will the Right. So unlike others arguing politics here, BSB does deserve a lot of props for being upfront and honest that way.Of course speaking of Leftist bullshit, did you hear the latest and greatest by Keith Olbermann? What a buffoon. He found out someone was using a TWITTER account with his name and the moron actually accused -- on the air no less -- of it being a conspiracy against him by Fox News! The man sees subversive shadows everywhere! The laughable truth that's now come to light: some guy that was actually a fan of his had secured the Twitter ID and he then actually turned the Twitter account over to...yes, wait for it...MSNBC ages ago! So it now turns out that doofus Olbermann's own network and his own people have been Twittering all along for months now using his name, as a promotional sort of thing, so of course Keith (AKA moron who hears voices in his head) decided to blame it on a conspiracy originated by Fox News. The man is brilliant, I say! Brilliant! And a raving lunatic to boot!

Good to see you. What's this BS about Reagan cut some taxes raised others? You need to qualify your statement and put it in context. It's like saying you cut your personal budget in half but raised your kids allowance by 10 cents. What you have to acknowledge is the SIZE of the tax cut under Reagan. Reagan cut the TOP marginal rate from 78% to 39%. That's HUGE! Whatever little taxes he raised are negligible compared to that top rate cut. As for Bush cutting taxes--remember these took effect in 2004, and revenues STILL went up. The tax cuts DIDN'T generate deficits--what generates deficits are increases in spending. Congress gets this crazy notion that when revenues go up they have more money to spend--whether republican or democrat led congresses. That's just business as usual in DC. Had Bush not cut taxes AT ALL, the deficits would have been more significant. Notice how largely the deficit grew after 2007 when Pelosi took over congress and no new tax cuts were inacted.Context is everything my friend.

I need to see some evidence of that, sorry. What side is no-BS BSB on in regard to a now surfacing trend of war injured troops being forced by the Obama Administration to pay for their surgeries? http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/03/26/wounded.warrior/index.htmlIs bipartisan BSB willing to admit that "Barack Obama doesn't care about (typical) white people?" http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/27/dhs-obama-stay-away-flood-areas/Is the moderate BSB happy that Obama appointed one of the AIG board of directors to a Tax Reform task force? http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/27/aig.taskforce/index.htmlDoes even-keeled BSB honestly believe that taxing charity contributions is the way to go and won't result in fewer such charitable contributions in the future? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/25/AR2009032503103.html?hpid=topnewsDoes BSB, fair debater, agree with closing Gitmo given the mounting evidence that former detainees are only freed to continue waging their jihad against the very soldiers to whom BSB and other liberals profess their admiration and yearn for their safety? http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/27/world/asia/27taliban.html?_r=1&ref=politicsI could carry on, but I already know how this is gonna shake out.

As I suspected, you've been living under a rock. McCain has daddy issues, always wanted to please his old man who was a hardass and never gave McCain the approval he seeked. That's why McCain re-upped. Also, his father never forgave him for bending and saying whatever unAmerican shit the VietCong wanted him to. And where did I use the word coward? I said he was a little bitch and he was, never said he was a coward. No one who flies jets in battle is a coward, but they can be a little bitch.
Hey BSB, I see no one picked up on your not so subtle anti-Semitism of trying to turn my screen name into a Jewish name by adding berg or stein at the end. GO. FUCK. YOURSELF. YOU. ARE. JEW. HATING. NAZI. SCUM. All you assholes who praise this piece of shit may as well agree with him when it comes to Jew hating and wanting to see Jews die. I am sure BSB thinks Jews control all the money and that they carry diamonds around with them in briefcases. He obviously had a "Jew boss" or some "Jew landlord" that pissed him off. Or maybe his cunt of a mother fucked some "Jew" and neglected little ol' BSB the Nazi. Whatever it is, it is obvious that BSB is wildly jealous of Jews and what they've been able to accomplish as a decided minority in the world. BSB thinks if Jews disappeared the world would be at peace. -
Punk Nazi Jew hating bitch! At least one person in here, Immortal_Fish, sees BSB for the disingenuous piece of bullshitting flotsam he really is.
-
Never once bring up the fact I hate Palin? Notice how they ignore everything I say that might destroy their little view of me? I fuckin' love it cause it is so transparent.
-
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-
Of course, it will.
-
"I appreciate every soldier who has fought for this country, but if they pussed out I'm going to say that as well." That's fair. If all those soldiers were to point out that you "pussed out" far more than any of them by choosing not to serve at all, that would be fair as well.
-
The guy who persistently invokes Obama's middle name, and claims innocence of bigotry and racism, is accusing me of the same. No wonder the real Conservatives around here despise you. You are not only an embarassment to world Jewry and to your family, but an embarassment to Conservatives, too.
The fact that you feel you have "enemies" here on a message board, just shows how frighteningly unhinged you are. You are a sick person no one likes, but I'm glad that Anino finds you a friend he can intellectually engage. Enjoy each other!!!! -
so, you lose on that one, asswipe!!
-
Gov. Palin views represent a small minority of Americans, since she is against abortion for any reason, and she would gladly remove any kind of reasonable gun laws, so you can have a loaded bazooka at home if you want. Only in Alaska could a person like her get elected Governor. It makes the majority of Alaskans seem like complete idiots. The idiot Rightwingers on this Talkback can all go to Hell. Their time has come and gone. I pray to God that Sarah Palin is the GOP presidential nominee in 2012, because it will make the reelection of Obama that much easier. I may even send her a donation.
-
To mention Obama's ACTUAL middle name. Oooookay. It's not a nickname thought up by the right wing conspiracy, it's his ACTUAL middle name. Is it also bigoted to say Dubya, even if it's his nickname? How about calling everyone that DOESN'T agree with you a bigot--is that not bigoted? This is what a bigot is: A bigot is someone that disparages someone from another group, that THEY are not a part of...especially if they don't fully understand that other group. Oh, they THINK they understand what that other group is all about...they fill in the gaps of their ignorance with caricatures, and believe their own mischaracterizations.
-
learn to read! I said HATING Sarah Palin was populist. as in, RowdyRoddyDickhead doesn't deserve any credit for that.thank you!
-
BSB - please pay attention and try to keep up. If you would kindly point me to the place where I have EVER used Obama's middle name, I'd like to see it. Seems you Jew hating Nazis get confused very easily. Of course you'll ignore this, just like you ignored the fact you thought Persians were Arab. You are a complete dunce, a Jew hating dunce, and a Nazi dunce. If I am an embarrassment to Jewry you are an embarrassment to humanity. Long live JTF, fucker!
FastEddie - I never argued that fact. I will be the first to admit I'd fold like a bitch. I am not a tough guy, I am not a fighter. I like to debate and use words, not fists. And I never said anything to the contrary.
I am the Terminator - first of all, what a fucking stupid screen name. Second, I don't think I've ever seen you before. Maybe you don't know that I am considered by the Leftists on this board to be a Palin supporter. They all think I'm into god and against abortion and gay marriage, but I ain't, at all. The fucking morons here, of which you seem to be a part of, ALWAYS ignore any view of mine that doesn't conform to their idea of what a conservative is. They call me a neocon even though I oppose most foreign wars, including both Iraq wars, and support cutting off aid to Israel. I don't pray, I think drugs should be legal, I think prostitution should be legal, I think the Patriot Act is an abomination. But no, the Leftists here ignore all of this and just latch onto the right wing views I have and paint me as an extreme right winger because they are incapable of complex thinking. As I am sure you will do the same after this post. And no, I don't hate Palin cause she is not extreme enough as some here would have you believe, but rather because she represents the worst aspects of the party I used to love, the Republicans. She is everything wrong with the current GOP. That's why I support a guy like Ron Paul, someone who truly understands the concept of federalism, and the concept of freedom. Palin is a dunce, and I blame McCain that old fucking bitch. And I blame the primary voters for installing McCain as the nominee. I loathe the fact the party has been taken over by religious wackos and everything is about gay marriage, abortion, and invading other countries. But yeah, I'm an extreme right wing neocon, right guys? I don't believe the propaganda on anthropogenic global warming, I must be a right wing extremist. I believe law abiding people should be able to own a gun, even though I myself have never and will never own one, I must be a right wing extremist right? I believe terrorists should be punished brutally, I'm such an extremist!! All of you can fuck off. The main reason most conservatives treat me as a pariah here is because of my non-conservative views! But the Leftists here won't tell you that. They'll tell you it's cause I am such an extremist. And you'll believe it, cause you're a sheep. -
Before McCain selected Palin, he was in double digits behind Obama. Then when he selected her, the base of the republican party got behind McCain and narrowed the gap between McCain and Obama to roughly 7 points.A lot of people that hate Palin hate her because of how she was mischaracterized (attributing Tina Fey quotes to Palin herself). She still polls very highly among conservatives. People really do underestimate her. In fact, lefty feminist Obama-supporter Camille Paglia of Salon.com recognizes what a political force Palin can be, and how she is actually intelligent in a way that the manhattan elite will never understand. The fact is that Palin was the only candidate with executive experience, that managed a multi-billion dollar budget, ran a business successfully, knows more about natural resources and energy than any of the other candidates. Her state, under her governorship, is one of the few states today that are actually running a budget surplus. You can't ignore that fact.
-
i really hope that palin becomes a true force in the repug party...will prove how much of a joke that party truly is what biz did she run successfully? wasnt all that hard to run the alaskan budget when she was sticking it to the oil companies (and in turn, sticking it to the rest of america) the fund that allowed her to pass out monies to the people (taking from the rich oil companies...sounds like socialism to me) has lost billions since the crash she has done little to nothing for rural alaskans most of the fey quotes were taken verbatem from palin speeches oh, and if she does end up in the repug elite, it will prove how much that family values bullshit is just that...bullshit and camille paglia aint no leftist and palin's intelligence is not understood by anyone...cuz it doesnt exist i suggest you watch the alaskan gubentorial debate, which is online but god...i hope she is the next repug nominee....death knell to the repukes
-
I agree with a lot of your points. But you invalidate yourself when you repeat certain misconceptions about the GOP. The GOP has NOT been overtaken by 'religious wackos and everything is about gay marriage and abortion". Sure, there's a religious component to the GOP, but if they truly were in charge, McCain would not have been the candidate--it would have been Huckabee. As for gay marriage, which party keeps bringing it up? It's not the GOP, if you've noticed. The states that have legalized gay marriage are democratic states (Vermont, Massachussets, Hawaii). To MOST conservatives, gay marriage is not an important issue--but they respond TO it when the DNC brings it up. You have it the other way around: the DNC is all about gay marriage because they bring the issue to the table every chance they get.The same goes with abortion. Abortion has not been a front line issue with republicans. Abortion is the law of the land...yet, for the DNC, it's not enough that it's legal--it has to be funded by every tax payer. Again, it's the DNC that brings this issue to the table by taking away as many restrictions on it.Here's a difference you need to understand when it comes to the GOP and the DNC in regards to abortion: most republicans agree that abortion is wrong...but not all republicans believe it should be outlawed. Most republicans believe that the abortion debate should take place in each state, each state determining the legality of abortion, and to what extent it should be regulated. The DNC on the other hand, is the other way around. Most democrats will agree that abortion SHOULD be legal in every instance. However, not every democrat believes that abortion is morally right. Democrats tend to say, "well, abortion should be as rare as possible, and of course its a tough decision"...they tend to debate whether abortion is wrong or not. Basically the GOP sees abortion is wrong, but debate the legality of it. The DNC sees abortion as always legal, but debate the morality of it.
-
Camille Paglia is a leftist. As for what Palin has done for Alaskans, with the state budget, for jobs...hmmm...compare that to what Obama was able to do for the people of his congressional district in Illinois. How big a budget did he manage again? How successful was his business? OH, that's right...he's never managed as much as hotdog stand. No wonder the stock market dips everytime he talks about his budget proposals. And if you think Tina Fey's Palin quotes were taken verbatim, you need to see the original transcripts...or you need your ears cleaned. You should check out "How Obama Got Elected", a documentary coming out, parts of which are available on youtube--it shows side by side the quotes by Palin, compared to Tina Fey's versions. Of course, most unthinking zombie voters never took the time to distinguish between the two, and elected the most inexperienced empty suit in history to become president.Oh, and it's 'verbatim', not 'verbatem'. You almost sounded smart there. But hey, calling us 'repugs' is VERY mature of you, it truly adds to that image of liberals being so civilized and intelligent. Here's a question for you: what EXACTLY did Obama do before he got elected, to make him qualified to run the world's largest economy? Or Biden for that matter?
-
I can see once again I am too late to the inevitably derailment of the topic at hand, a history of the Kennedys rise to power. John F. Kennedy was a "do-nothing Senator from MA" who repeated the mantra "be can do bettah" and won the Democratic primaries and eventually the White House, creating what was largely a media invented myth "Camelot". And what a myth it was! Camelot had everything: glamour, sex (the illicit kind), ambition, greed, death, grief, in short all the good elements necessary for an epic miniseries, preferably on Shotime or HBO a la Rome or the Tudors. The trouble is the Kennedys are American royalty. In the imagination of conventional Democratic thinking, they are simply unassailable...or rather the myth is. To humanize them would be too much. They must forever remain the star-studded pseudo celebs they are in those old black and white newsreels. To give us Kennedy the Cold Warrior, who campaigned on a phony missile gap, whose administration "never let a crisis" go to waste" to quote someone I know. Give us that series and I'd see it in a heartbeat. Sadly though, any television series involving this family will deal more in overarching, extreme stereotypes, rather than the brass tacks of (sometimes tedious) policy.
-
I think Americans should have guns if they want but have reasonable controls against having assault weapons; I think Abortion is a personal issue, but I don't want tax dollars supporting it-if you need one, you should have to pay, but I cannot legislate that you cannot have one; I believe it is amoral to kill unless you have to do it in order to defend your life; I think Drugs should be legalized and the money used to pay for healthcare, prisons and treatment centers-Prohibition has never worked and never will; I believe that each person should be free to have or not have a relationship with God, but that it should never be taught in schools unless we teach every possible conception out there; I believe that in 50 years meat will be grown in labs and that the majority of Americans will be vegitarians; and last, I think we should remove all fitness practices from prisons, give them full access to all the latest video games, and that they should feed prisoners high-carb diets-doughnuts for breakfast. I want em comming out fat, out of shape and weak. There. Thats some food for thought.
-
I think every american aged 18 should have to serve in the military for 2-4 years. Once out, their entire college tuition should be paid for in full. Everybody serves, and everybody gets a college education should they want it.

Stop whining you moron. Sorry I got you confused with Coughlins Law. You are both shrill and stupid, so it's an understandable case of mistaken ID. Why are you so ashamed of your heritage? Why do you feel the need to embrace the radical fringe of Jewish culture instead of embracing the richness of its mainstream? What make you think I've ever had bad experiences with Jewish people - other than yourself and MorbidObesity? Because I don't hold you on a pedestal? Get over yourself!!!!
-
What makes Sarah Palin qualified to be President? She had it easy when oil prices were high, but Alaska's budget is in such jeopardy that she went begging in Washington for hundreds of millions in earmarks. So, what makes her more qualified to run the USA over, say, the former CEO of Circuit City?
-
I'm not surprised those inbred loons are your heroes, Rowdy. If they had any trace of cohones, they'd take those stupid shades off and show their faces. Nothing but cowards - inbreeding cowards. I'll bet you're related to them, who knows what your mother is doing upstairs!
-
... and what they've been able to accomplish"
That sentence says more about you than it will ever say about me, Rowdy. Are you inferring that my conflict with YOU means I have a conflict with an entire race of people? That might be the way you operate, but that's not how I roll, chump. Are you taking credit for the accomplishments of other Jews? Seriously? You think you are on par with them? Do you think if Albert Einstein read your posts here (including the ones about sniffing Drew), that he would be proud of you?
You are so deranged!!! -
why do you think this no chance of getting greenlit??? Didn't you ever see "Winter Kills" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080139/)? I saw it years ago and as I recall it was not very flattering (although thinly veiled as 'fictional') towards the Kennedys. Also, I don't remember 'Primary Colors' as a love letter to the Clintons either, so why not? Besides, I don't think Judith Light is available for the Lifetime "Mother Teresa: Portrait of a Whore" biopic.
-
You know you're well and truly fucked.
-
What makes Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Well, let's do a side by side qualification comparison with Palin and the current occupant of the White House, Mr Obama.Sarah Palin governed a State, Mr Obama didn't govern a state. So as far as government EXECUTIVE decision making, Sarah outqualifies Obama.Sarah Palin managed a state that produces nearly 20% of the nations natural energy resources. Obama hasn't managed anything that's produced a single drop of biofuel.Sarah Palin managed a state budget worth billions of dollars. Obama hasn't managed anything close to that.Sarah Palin was the chief executive of a state in charge of thousands of state employees. Obama never managed anything close to that either.Sarah Palin as governor made executive decisions that involved peoples paychecks, and even peoples safety and lives as commander-in-chief of Alaska's national guard. Obama, as legislator has never made any executive decisions--as a legislator he only needs to place a vote concerning legislation. He usually voted "present".IN FACT there really is nothing in Obama's resume that tell us HOW or WHY he is qualified to managed any sort of economy, any kind of budget. He doesn't even have the experience to manage a town budget, a city budget--LET ALONE the budget of the world's largest economy. Why is it that HIS OWN budget director Peter Orszag thinks Obama's budget is unsustainable? Now we're learning, sadly, that we've put someone in charge that doesn't know what he's doing. Taking an inherited deficit, and doubling down by promising to spend even more with no real plan to generate revenue.Let me throw the question back at you: What makes OBAMA qualified? I don't think the people that elected him really know what makes him qualified. Sure, they FEEL he's qualified. But when pressed, they can't even name a single law he enacted as Senator, or any bill he authored or sponsored. They just "feel" he should be president.Well, here we are. Why are the top economists in the country giving him failing grades so far? Why are his own apologists at the New York Times saying he's out of his league?
-
Based on Obama's economic decision making so far, Palin's babysitter probably has more experience than this community organizer from Chicago.
-
Sarah Palin is an idiot.
-
Obama is SO addicted to his teleprompter, that at a St Patrick's day event, he read the lines that were intended for the guest of honor! Obama thanked HIMSELF. Wow, I'm glad we FINALLY elected an intellectual. Now the world won't laugh at us anymore. Imagine if that was Palin reading a telemprompter, thanking herself. Tina Fey would be ALL over that. Hmmm, why haven't we heard of that Obama gaffe? It's called a double standard, friends.
-
Wow, you've really convinced me.
-
The question was: What makes Sarah Palin qualified to be President? It wasn't "What makes Sarah Palin more qualified than Barack Obama to be President?" One is asking for the qualifications of a specific individual, the other is asking for a comparison. Which isn't what you were asked. But that is what you answered. Because, like most people who love to throw around the words "community organizer", your agenda is clearly more devoted to ragging on Barack Obama than it is to making a salient point.
-
Would you call someone an idiot if they said they've visited 57 of our states and had two more to visit?
-
Wow, you've really convinced me.
-
As long as we're playing "bait the fellow talkbacker", would YOU call someone an idiot if they were asked what magazines and newspapers they read and their answer is "All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years."? You're tiresome, as are most of your ilk. You wanna maybe bring your bullshit back around to the subject at hand: the potential Kennedy TV show?
-
Do you know how to read? Not only did I list Palin's qualifications, I contrasted them to Obama. Sometimes you can answer a question more effectively when using comparisons, it also clarifies the context and spirit of the question asked. It ALSO exposes the HYPOCRISY of the original question. If one is to ask why Palin is qualified, yet she ISN'T the president, then an even MORE pertinent question would be to ask how Obama is qualified, who actually IS the president. And you can dance around semantics all you want. As for my 'agenda of ragging on Obama"--his utter lack of qualifications more than BEG to be 'ragged on'. I admire him as a politician, and he is a pretty well spoken guy. I don't think he's evil, or stupid, and I don't call him names (the way Palin haters call her everything in the book). I just don't think he's qualified to be president right now. And his approach to the economy so far has confirmed that...not just confirmed that to crazy right wingers like me--but even his cheerleaders in the media, like Paul Krugman, Paul Begala and Maureen Dowd. They pushed hard for Obama during the election, they bashed Bush (and still do)--but they are VERY disappointed with Obama's take on the economy, his approach to the budget. Even THEY are saying he is in WAY over his head. That's not a good sign is it?
-
I'd say that Palin did poorly in her interviews. As for the comment about the newspapers, she explained that in a Matt Lauer interview weeks later. In context she was saying that Katie Couric probably expected her to say she read the same papers that the Manhattan elite would read, which she didn't. And Necgray, it's telling when you resort to terms like "your ilk" and "you're tiresome"--which is typical of the left. They would rather personally insult those that disagree with them instead of actually addressing their points.
-
I have yet to hear anyone explain why or how Obama is qualified to be president. I really don't expect to get any decent answer. I'm probably going to hear the usual "go away" or "fuck you neocon" or "bush's illegal war" or "you're an idiot"...which of course are such articulate, well thought out answers. Still, it would be refreshing to hear something resembling an actual answer. I guess it's too much to expect more than just creative profanity and personal attacks.
-
Still won't cop to the fact that you thought Persians were Arab huh? Why? Embarrassed at how stupid you are? And dude, really, your anti-semitism has been well documented in many talkbacks. Your hatred for Jews goes way back and has nothing to do with anyone posting here. And of course you love so called "mainstream" Jews, the same ones who call for a Palestinian homeland and the ones who follow in the great tradition of self-destructiveness that Jews almost invented. Jews marched with blacks for civil rights. What do they think of Jews? Mainstream Jews say we have to give back land that we acquired after the ARABS ATTACKED THEM!! So of course you love mainstream Jews, you both want to bend over backward to appease piece of shit terrorist Nazi scum. Long live JTF, fucker!
And Chaim Ben Pesach has not worn sunglasses for quite some time. Try to keep up dude!! In one thread you say not even Coughlin's Law would side with me, in the next breath you say we are exactly alike. You're just a loony Nazi Leftist who lobs bombs at everyone else regardless of facts.
Wanna go over how Persians are Arab? Can you explain to me how that is the case? -
is some of the most idiotic criticism I've ever heard. Somebody pulled that out of their ass.
He's not the first president to use a teleprompter and won't be the last.
Would those who are up in arms about it feel better if he read from paper instead? Most likely not. People have got to nitpick stupid things, you know. -
You make so much sense!!!
My hatred for Jews is well-documented, except for the self-hating Jews whom I love!!!
Great brain twister, which in your case comes naturally! Stop inbreeding, but then again who outside your local clan would breed with you?! That's quite a dilemma! -
Amen!!!
-
worships Chaim Ben Pesach - WHO WAS CONVICTED OF BOMBINGS IN AMERICA. Go fuck yourself, instead of your sister!!! Who else is your hero, Josef Fritzl? Stop talking to me, you need intervention via a wired battery!!!!

or something like that. I think that's the point he was making. If you side with the people you are oppressing and commiting democide against, you must be self-destructive.
Kids, this is your brain on inbreeding. Don't inbreed. -
I never said he would side with you. I said mainstream, self-hating Conservatives like Big Dumb Ape and Quin the Eskimo would not side with you. Your only friend is Anino!! Cherish and enjoy him well!!! Freak!

he wasnt bush. People were tired of bush. The people who ran bush campaign in 2000 are the same people who ran the campaign in 2008. Shoe was on the other foot . Let me explain. These people who purged the top of the party. used all of thier fire power to destroy John Mccain the first time around and he was running against bush for the ticket of the Republican Presidential nominee ticket. The people who sit atop McCain party foisted him with vp choice that was not his own. and spun it that McCain's team knew all about Palin. Which team McCain said they didnt. team McCain wisely locked her out of the campaign. nobody liked her not least McCains people who said they werent given a say. They complained audibly about how obama was given a free ride. On this side of the atlantic we all followed the campaign. one night on the channel 4 news in the UK Sheri Jacobsen exploded when James Ruben called McCain a bitter angry old man. Jacbsson went ballistic and said that she found the term insulting. and said that when republicans tried to attack obama they were called racists. republican she said preferred the term fiery. hmmm. here are three things about McCain. one. he is old. two he is angry(read the time magazine issue they dedicated to McCain on the 2008 campaign. the interviewer discovered McCains wrath) the more probing the questions became the more pissed of McCain got. but McCain is a fighter and for that he endeared himself to many. But in the end Obama won because his campaign was all about constructed ambiguity. oh and McCain over sold his war record.

It's pretty simple. Take any of the gaffes of Obama or Biden. Then imagine they were done by Bush or Palin. Would you react the same way? Here's an example: take Obama's line, "I've been to...57 states now?" and pretend Palin said it. How would the left react to that? Obama got a pass on that one, the media hid that one pretty well.Example two: Joe Biden asks a state senator at a rally to stand up and be recognized. Turns out that senator is in a wheelchair and can't stand up. Imagine if that had been Bush saying that. How would the left and the media cover that?Example 3: Obama's Treasury secretary gets confirmed even after being exposed as a tax cheat, becomes the head of the IRS. What if Bush or Cheney did that? Would you be all up in arms about it?I ask myself this too, I've criticized Bush on his handling of Iraq, his expansion of the government, and that stupid TARP bill he kept pushing (which Obama and McCain both voted for). Every time an issue comes up and I have a knee jerk reaction, I ask myself: what if the shoe were on the other foot? What if a democrat did this instead of a republican, or vice versa? For fair political discourse every issue needs to go through the hypocrisy test. If not, everything is just partisan emotionalism, and loses credibility.
-
Of course it's safe to say Sarah Palin is a pig. It's a free country, you have every right to make ad hominem attacks on people you disagree with. You don't like Palin, you don't like Bush, you don't like republicans. That's hardly a surprise. However, I think it would refreshing if you could make your case for Obama in a coherent and factual way without resorting to cussing out people you disagree with. It really does nothing to validate your statements. But it does expose a deep seated emotional immaturity, and an odd notion you have that name calling is the same as political discourse. It isn't. But it says more about your personality. It actually is a disservice to your political side too...it perpetuates the stereotype that liberals are all emotion with no brain, that the DNC is the feel good party, but a party of airheads that THINK they're intellectual. I'm not calling YOU an airhead, but your posts add to that stereotype.I've criticized republicans in the past, I still do...in fact I think that counter-budget stunt the GOP leadership pulled this week was pretty freakin lame. I would have criticized the DNC had they been the minority and pulled something similar. I will criticize POLICIES and bad decisions they make. Bush shouldn't have pushed for the TARP bill, Bush should have enacted the surge MUCH sooner in the Iraq campaign and shouldn't have dismantled the Iraqi army only to rebuild it from scratch. Bush's expansion of government and his spending was more typical of liberal. I will criticize Obama for his poor decisions--have you ever seen a president who has this many cabinet appointees backing out for tax problems or ethics problems (Daschle, Richardson, and about a dozen others)? I'll criticize his economic approach, urging the entire country to tighten its belt, while proposing to increase spending more than any president in history, and to do it DURING a deepening recession. That should be fair criticism. It's a free country, and you can read that criticism sanely and think about it, or you can gloss over it and call me names. It would do nothing to advance your political ideas, but it would confirm what a lot of thinking people believe about the DNC being the party that have hearts, but no brains.
-
Just a few things before I get chewed out:
1. Are we going to put a producer's political beliefs as a preface to every story now? Liberal Wayans brothers make "White Bitches 2!" Conservative Michael Bay makes "Slo-Mo Helicopter Rotors!"
2. Why is it perfectly acceptable to make 900 films about Nixon and Watergate, yet the Kennedys are untouchable?
3. Don't we all love movies here? Shouldn't that be something that ties us together, even if our political views differ?
4. Why the hell are we still talking about Sarah Palin? -
Producers' political beliefs are usually only put on as a title if they are conservative, especially if the subject matter of whatever project is political. Seems fair, but it's not done on the other side (like when Clooney produces Syriana, or when Oliver Stone does W). SO why are we still talking about Palin? Because the topic of this thread attracts political junkies and it's only natural that the conversation will gravitate toward the most passionately held talking points in politics today. It's just how political discussions naturally play out. Sure we stray WAY off the original topic, on the one hand--but on the other hand it keeps a thread alive--from a website standpoint, don't we want more traffic? Aren't reactions and counter reactions the life blood of talkbacks? At the heart of this topic is an underlying feud between the left and the right, which is still very much raging today. There are movie buffs that feel very strongly on either side. We feel that bringing up any political hot button issue is relevant to the spirit of the topic, because the WORDING of the topic displays this underlying double standard when it comes to labelling producers of political movies--and the deeper issue there is the political divide, the double standard with how the left portrays the right in this country.

1. Welcome to Ain't It Liberal News.2. Transparent bias.3. It's a shame that isn't the case, isn't it?4. Because liberals fear her.

Indeed. Half the country, perhaps even more, milked a week's worth of laughter out of Bush having choked on a pretzel. Yet Obama hitting his head on a helicopter is unmentionable.Bush is still being laughed at for referring to the internet in plurality. Yet we forget that Joe Biden is still looking for the number of a website.Bush joked about not finding WMD at the 60th annual dinner of the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association; this was unconscionable. Obama joking about the Special Olympics on the Tonight Show and laughing about the state of the economy on 60 Minutes is perfectly acceptable.Bush mispronouncing nuclear for the bajillionth time, GOOOD!! Obama using a teleprompter for the bajillionth time, BAAD!!Yeah, I agree with you. People do nitpick about the darnedest things. Funny how there's a shelf life on only half of it, if ever mentioned at all.

And decades long CBS newsman Bernie Goldberg documents this very exhaustively AND in a very funny and entertaining way in his new book "Slobbering Love Affair". It's about how he knew the media was always biased toward the left, but this last year with covering Obama they've gone from left-leaning ex-media watchdog to total whores-that-work-for-free when it came to covering Obama, Biden, and the DNC.

"...your only friend is Anino." Hmm, are you trying to say that your only friends in life are people on line, on this website? I don't go here for friendships, I go here to voice opinions. I have friendships in the real world, so I don't go here for friendship validation, I'm sure Roddy doesn't either.
-
It's called partisanship. Somehow the party of tolerance, the party that is so careful to tiptoe around every minority group so as not to offend them, that zealously preaches against hate speech, that proclaims themselves to be intellectual progressives, have no qualms about descending into the very behavior and mindset they so rail against when it comes to disparaging political opposition.
-
Anino - I don't know how long you've been here, but BSB is really not worth having a real discussion with, which is why I answer him in the most puerile way, cause it's the only thing he may vaguely understand. And you are quite right, a lot of the Liberals here seem to think this is a place to find friends instead of a place to voice one's opinion. Just be warned, they will crucify you if you say you agree with anything I say, even if I say the Earth is round, and you say "Roddy, you're right, the Earth IS round!" they'll say you must be a piece of shit like me. I appreciated your response upthread, and you are right to a certain extent. McCain got nominated cause Democrats are allowed to vote in Republican primaries. If they weren't we might well have been stuck with Huckabee, which could have been even worse than McCain. The Republicans are in thrall to the religious wing of the party, just as Democrats are in thrall to the commie wing of their party. Doesn't mean they nominate people those factions want, but they are still scared of them. Obama is scared of MoveOn, The Daily Show, etc., and the Repubs are scared of the religious wackos, which is why they attend right to life seminars and all that other crap that is meaningless. If Republicans had any ideals then Ron Paul would hve made more headway. He is the only candidate that ran that had any semblance of what a real Republican is supposed to look like, one not beholden to religious people and corporations, but beholden to the American people and the Constitution of the United States of America!
BSB - first, what about Persians being Arab? Why are you so scared to try and defend this point? You said Persians are Arab, got called on it, then won't address it, just like the little Jew hating Nazi child you are. Second, obviously you're not a Jew, because you have no understanding of the historical self-destructiveness of the Jewish people and how they love those that hate them. And Schindler? Leave it to a self hating Jew like Spielberg to finally make a movie about the Holocaust and MAKE THE HERO A FUCKING NAZI!!! Again though, a child like you can't understand such things.
As for Chaim Ben Pesach, he was bombing SOVIET property and SOVIET scumbags in America. And he went to jail for it and didn't cry about it! He knew what he was doing right morally but wrong legally and he took responsibility! Imagine that? Imagine a Jew who actually wants his homeland to survive? Imagine a Jew who was responsible for freeing millions of Jews from the Soviet Union? You are so uneducated about so many things it is alarming. But please, keep responding to these facts by turning my name into an anti-Semitic stereotype. Can you imagine how fast someone would be banned if they said the same things about black people, or Spanish people? But no, it's okay when it's directed at Jews cause those fuckin' Jews control all the money, so fuck them, right? I don't know BSB, maybe you like some "Jew borad" with big tits in junior high and she told your gentile ass to fuck off. Your deep hatred for Jews comes from somewhere. -
That was a great post. Defending domestic terrorism. What a delight you are! I'm sure you give equal defense to Bill Ayers!!!
Please, please prove that I have a "deep hatred for Jews". And please, please tell me where I said "Persians are Arabs". You are so dysfunctional, it's difficult to debate you. At most you are an amusing oddity. Please continue posting!!! -
Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center is not Soviet property.
The members of the Moscow State Symphony, who were due to perform the day that Victor Vancier (aka Chaim Ben Pesach) firebombed the building were not "SOVIET scumbags" - they were professional musicians. Judge Glassner correctly described them as "innocent people".
During sentencing, Vancier was a whining little pussy who said "'I have no justification for what I did'' He asked for a new chance to build a constructive life. Of course, he said these things when he was previously convicted of racketeering.
His own lawyer said: 'It's fair to say he's a little bit nuts.''
He, like you, is a Kahanist nut-case. Your incredibly bizarre right-wing views - which lead you to condone terrorists like Vancier and war criminals like Slobodan Milosevic -are products of your hatred of ordinary people who commit the unforgivable crime of disagreeing with you.
His court-appointed lawyer, Thomas Concannon, described his client as ''a tragic figure'' and ''an empty vessel but for his J.D.L. life.'' -
You make many fair and accurate points - excepting those regarding Palin. I respect that. I wish you were around during the election talkbacks. We would've had some fine, engaging debates. Alas, I'm not in the mood for drawn out debates. I'm just here to fuck with Rowdy's head.
-
Could not have been better said! Even the loony ADL and Simon Wiesenthal Center have condemned that domestic terrorist.
-
It's no secret that we differ politically. And of course I admire your passion on your views. I don't consider you as one of the knee-jerk foam-at-the-mouth liberals. I still think you're wrong, but you're not an angry lib. That being said I hope you take my verbal jabs in stride, the way duelists used to parry and thrust. It shouldn't be personal, which is why I disdain the profanity and childish name-calling that surfaces in political debate. However, wouldn't it be more entertaining if congress and the senate debated the way these talkbacks play out, with Pelosi calling John Boehner a cocksucker, or Senator Demint telling Harry Reid to 'just go away'?Like I've mentioned before, everyone really should try employing the hypocrisy test before posting. Before emotionally reacting and spewing epithets and mocking political figures they disagree with, switch the parties and see if they'd STILL react that way. It puts things in proper context and adds to the validity of whatever they're saying. Think of something that irritates you about Bush or Palin, and then pretend that Obama or Biden did those things--would you still criticize them? And vice versa of course, if you were to praise Obama or Biden for something, would you equally praise Bush or Palin for the same reasons? Or reverse the races, or genders for that matter, just for kicks and see if you'd react the same way. It's a good way to clarify the debate, and to expose any emotion-based partisanship there is. Are you just shooting from the emotional hip, or are you REALLY thinking the issues through?
-
"Defending domestic terrorism. What a delight you are! I'm sure you give equal defense to Bill Ayers!!!"Why you hating on Ayers? Several impartial debaters like yourself have informed me that Ayers has been cleared of all charges and continues to pose no threat at all to the republic.http://tinyurl.com/dhcclj

BSB is one of the most angry liberals on this website. Take a look at any of the TBs dedicated to the 2008 debate for starters, where he referred to McCain as "McKKKain." You know, that same guy that adopted a black daughter.Meanwhile, BSB dismisses Obama's 22 years with Trinity United and takes umbrage with anyone that dares to remember the "typical white people" comment.I too used to enjoy my perception of BSB's comical insanity before I realized that it's for real. Beware. If you haven't been attacked yet, there's always time.

Bill Ayers is a muthafuckin terrorist who should be in jail
by feralangel
He said, as he was acquitted of trying to murder a man and his family: "Guilty as sin, free as a bird. What a country." What is the threat that wee-dick poses? Why the fact that he was never truly brought to justice, that's what. He and Jane Fonda should BOTH be put against a wall and shot. In a different and better time, they'd be fertilizing higher life-forms, such as kudzu and fungus. You know, any kind of plant life that feeds on SCUM!
-
BSB - go to the TB about Obama on the Tonight Show. You refer to Iranians as Arabs. I called you on it right away, and many times since, and only NOW are you asking me where you said it? You know damn well where you said it cause you were caught right away and ignored it. Wow, even the Simon Weisenthal Center condemned him? WOW, fuck those self hating Jews. And the ADL condemned him? Are Arabs supposed to celebrate when Jews fight back? How fuckin' dumb are you? Seriously. And Anino, stop being diplomatic toward him, he's a child and deserves nothing but scorn. He is not a rabid left winger, just a rabid Jew hating Nazi cuntrag.
irritable - we know your views. We know you think American soldiers should be tried for murder. We know you think Bush and Cheney should be locked up for war crimes. So why would I listen to you about Chaim Ben Pesach? The Soviets needed to be taught a lesson, but weak willed pieces of shit like you can never see that. There's no such thing as good or evil in your book, it's all relative, and as such, you're a moron. Vancier did what was necessary and paid the price. He had the courage of his convictions, something you sorely lack. And for someone supposedly convicted of domestic terrorism it's amazing that not only is he still living in this country but as a free man no less. Many convicted domestic terrorists are walking around free right now correct? Here's a hint, it ain't domestic terrorism if your targets AREN'T EVEN AMERICAN CITIZENS! Now don't you just want to go on a rant about how the floods in Fargo are caused by global warming? You know you want to.
And please show me where I condoned what Slobbo did? I said I understood why he did what he did, I also understand why Hitler did what he did, that means I condone their actions? I thought all you fuckwit Libs are about understanding and wanting to see things from the terrorist's perspective? But you only seem to do that with people who want to destroy America. I don't see people walking around with Slobbo t-shirts, but I do see quite a few Leftists walking around with Che Guevara t-shirts. What do you say to those Liberals who condone what Guevara did in killing scores of innocent people? What about the Leftists that used to defend the Soviet Union and call it a paradise? What about Michael Moore saying Iraq was a paradise before we invaded? You have a problem with those people? Or just right wingers like myself? It's really funny how transparently anti-American you are. So please, tell me, how do you feel about Leftists wearing Guevara t-shirts? Are they nutcases who condone mass murder like you say I do? I know, I know, you'll either ignore the question or just call me names, or both. You're incapable of complex thought. -
That's the thing, Anino has already been attacked repeatedly by BSB, but for some reason wants to suck up to him. Like most Repubicans, Anino is gracious and wants to be an adult about it, but like most Republicans, doesn't realize that Liberals think he is evil incarnate simply for having a differing view. And thanks for reminding me about the "typical white person" comment, I almost forgot about that. What would happen if a Republican said "the typical black person thinks....?"
-
You got it all wrong, Leftists LOVE people who denigrate and attack America. It's only if you attack America's enemies do they want you silenced, locked up, taken care of, i.e. killed. They'll support an Ayers as a freedom fighter but condemn McVeigh, even though both guys wanted to destroy the government. Difference is they agree with Ayers reasoning and not McVeigh's, otherwise they support terrorist attacks on America so long as it comes from a Left wing world view.
-
It's a wonder you can type - what with all the spit on your keyboard as you froth at the mouth.
As I have never, ever posted any statement even faintly suggesting that US soldiers should be tried for murder or that Bush and Cheney should be locked up for war crimes ... then obviously - in your demented mind - I must be thinking those things.
You, on the other hand posted (as Thunderballs as I recall, before you were banned for hate-posting) a number of posts in which you said that Slobodan Milosovic was justified in his conduct because "there was infiltration of Muslim terrorists" in Bosnia. The slaughter at Srebrenca was just "breaking a few eggs".
If you like, I will post your quotes. They make astonishing reading.
As for me being a "Nazi" - well, you certainly have learned your favorite debating techniques of vicious slander, outright lies and xenophobia from the masters ... Hitler, Goebbels and Hess.
-
No harsh words for all the people who wear Che Guevara t-shirts. And your understanding of the Bosnian conflict is so woefully ignorant. Tell me, you supported our war over there? You thought it was cool to attack an ally of the United States? Oh, and you don't think Bush and Cheney are guilty of war crimes? You support our torture program and what happened at Guantanamo? Interesting.
-
You start your post with an insult and then condemn someone for using insults. Nice.
-
Now that Obama is getting down to business, I will judge his Presidency fairly and objectively. It's too soon to call though - 60 days in, and with a plate fuller than his predecessors have had in the last 50 years. He needs to be given some slack and a break-in period, that much is fair. But if he fucks up royally, he will be called on it. He's already been called on many of his policies by the Left. I on the other hand know that he is doing his best to govern from middle ground (hence his careful escalation of forces in Afghanistan) so he's to be commended for doing what's best for our country and not for his party, or his benefactors (unlike his predecessor administration).
-
The guy not only lied about Irritable, but me as well. He's yet to produce a quote where I said Persians are Arabs, or that I said I hate Jews. There's an old proverb - those who accuse the most, are mostly guilty.
And Irritable brought up an invaluable point. RowdyRoddyBenBraindead is on his 5th talkback handle. The guy has been banned more than any other talkbacker in history, for the most vulgar hatespeech ever to disgrace these hallowed boards. -

...teenagers wearing subversive Che Guevara T-shirts should sent to prison for, you know, being commie scum.
I can't understand why successive US Government for the last 40 years have allowed those evil fuckers to walk the streets freely, jeopardizing democracy and aiding the enemy.
Back to your false statement that Milosevic fostered the Bosnian butchery because of "infiltration by Muslim extremists".
Odd that this argument was not raised by Milosevic (or his supporters) during his trial. In fact, his defences were:
(1) "you can't prove tens of thousands of Bosnian muslims were slaughtered by forces controlled by Mladic, Karadzic and me"
[They could. They did]
(2) "I gave no direct orders for these mass murders".
Now, if Milosevic had the excuse that he was repelling a muslim extremist insurgency in Bosnia, you'd think he and his supporters might have mentioned that, wouldn't you?
They didn't.
You made that up out of thin air because you consider any "genuine" muslim is ipso facto a terrorist.
Whenever you're caught lying about facts you try and bluff your way through with BS like "you're totally ignorant of history" or "you just quote debating points from moveon.org" [whatever the fuck that is].
You're a chronic liar and hater.
You're a piss-poor debater and stupid to boot.
But most of all, you're a hypocrite. -
Good job ignoring the main point of my post, yet picking out one sentence to defend Bush.
Because, even though you're probably one of the ones that thinks the teleprompter is a big deal(which it isn't), you can't come up with a good justification for that criticism. -
I said that ALL Arabs in the MIddle East want to wipe the Jews out! Then you came back and said no they don't, Jews are a protected minority in Iran, and then made fun of how stupid I am. Therefore, you thought Iranians were Arab, or at the very least you didn't think I would know that. Either way, you're caught, you're an idiot, and you know exactly what you said. Just scroll up from where Immortal_Fish was kind enough to point out your stupidity, as the back and forth happened slightly earlier, starting at 9PM in the talkback according to what it says on my screen. But this is why I never provide quotes when they are requested, because it will inevitably be ignored by the person requesting it.
-
Do they teach you how to read? Where did I say people who wear Che Guevara t-shirts should be put in prison? What I did say was this, that if I am considered evil for allegedly backing Slobbo, then what does that say about the legions of people who wear Che Guevara t-shirts? Does that make them evil too? And of course, you twisted it and never answered the question.
And what is a "genuine" Muslim? Why the quote marks? Do you mean a Muslim who believes the whole world should be converted to Islam or die? Most Muslims are full of shit and don't really follow their religion, Bin Laden and his cohorts do, and that is what is scary. But you're incapable of seeing the bankruptcy of religious moderation. -
bullshit theories, prior incriminating statements and top-secret information sources, Roddy.
On Jan 20, 2006 you wrote (as Thunderballs):
"Milosevic was trying to save his country from an infestation of Islamo-fascism, so Wes Clark decides to rain fire and death upon thousands of innocent Christian men, women, and children."
Jan 24, 2006
"Srebenica, Srebenica, Srebenica, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs... Wherever there are Muslims in this world there is strife and war and misery and bloodshed. Coincidence? I think not. I respect the Muslims somewhat cause at least they follow their Holy Book the Koran, which commands they kill all non-Muslims. Christians, aside from Pat Robertson, who is a true hero for speaking his mind, are all a bunch of religious moderates, who do not follow the Bible at all. When a Muslim kills a CXhristian or a Jew, he is being a real Muslim. He is not an abberration. The abberation is the peaceful Muslim, because they pretend to be religious, like most Christians, yet lack the balls to read the Holy Book as literal."
[Good grounds for immediate incarceration in a mental facility, I suggest.]
Wait, there's more.
Feb. 15 2006 at 2.31 pm.
"All I said was that Milosevic was trying to save his country from an infestation of Islamic extremists. He went about it the wrong way, but his heart was in the right place. God forbid anyone here doesn't repeat the "common wisdom" espoused by all the major news networks. ... All I said was I am okay with us killing and torturing Islamic extremist terrorists. I'm wrong? All you cocksucking Liberals love shit like Sin City where the hero tortures and kills people, then turn around and say "How terrible, torture does not work, what savages!!!!"
Bear in mind that George W Bush is a "Liberal" in Roddy's bizarro universe. Come to think of it, everybody is Liberal Scum in his universe including all the "lily-livered so-called conservatives who post on this site".
The true Conservatives are, wait for it, Roddy, Ann Coulter and Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
And presumably, Slobodan Milosevic and his gang of butchers.
What are Roddy's sources>
"I won't give the name of the website I get my real news from, cause reactionaries like you will simply deride and ridicule the site... I should know, since I am part of the news media complex. Let me tell you something, as someone who has worked at NBC News for 3 years, there is a definite agenda, definite bias to the left. If you think you're getting the real news from any major outlet, including Fox News, you're just deluded."
Hey, I hadn't realized that Fox News had a definite bias to the Left. Now that's what I call news!
So where else does Roddy get his Real Truthy Information.
"Let's just say my news comes from people with connections high in the Israeli government."
Oh, right, okay. It's GOT to be true then.
Don't get me started on the hypocrisy angle. eg.
"...really DocPazuzu, you should not use homophobic slurs bashing gays on this site. It's not proper, and it's somewhat obscene. Please refrain from using the word "cocksucker" in an attempt to attach stigma to the actions of homosexuals."
But, but ... Roddy you invariably refer to Liberals (ie, most of Earth's population) as "Cocksuckers".
Am I missing something, or are you just a pathetic, lying hypocrite with a MAJOR personality disorder?
"Roddy's taken more mutually inconsistent positions than an 80 year old Mexican whore.
[But I will if you like] -
The reason I have been forced to have so many names is because of Moriarty. I guarantee you now that he is gone I will not be banned. All of the times I was banned was after taking that fat smelly fuck on and calling him out on his bullshit. I have never been banned for political speech, much to this site's credit. Harry is a good man who respects freedom of speech. Moriarty is not.

Let's get some fucking perspective people. The DVD's are an impeachable offense.
BTW if you want to read a FUNNY complete evisceration of the Kennedy Clan then Jon Stewart does a number on them all in his book Naked Pictures of Famous People.
But that of course goes against what the right wing lunatics think a Liberal should do as they are all partisan "Commies", so it must all be bullshit and lies.
Also lets get down to basics her, Palin just isn't very bright.
She is a few snowmobiles short of an entire dealership to say the least. You can slice it up any other way you like but the fact is she came across as fairly if not utterly stupid.
That those on the far right are so tangibly desperate to rehabilitate her, that they would actually try and paint KATIE COURIC as some kind of machiavellian Liberal mastermind is proof of their hilarious predicament.
Couric is a fucking LIGHTWEIGHT. Always was. Always will be. That's why she was chosen to interview Palin.
We aren't talking about Palin wilting under the fire of Koppel or anyone substantial, we're talking about a meltdown in the face of Couric and softballs like "what magazines or Newspapers do you like to read to keep you informed ?" Most Politicians would kill for such an easy question as it gives you ample opportunity to pander to any Media Base or Voting Base you wish. You throw in a few titles that emphasize whatever part of your personality you think is most powerfull. Throw out a few Hunting or Fishing titles, give the Local Paper a namecheck, drop in the obvious big Newspaper and Magazine titles but say you don't RELY on them for your information, you prefer to speak to REAL people, blah, blah, blah etc. Fact is there were 1001 ways to turn such a softball question to her advantage but Palin simply wasn't up to it.
It would be truly wonderful if she DID come back and there are Dems devoutly praying for this to happen, but she isn't throwing her weight about the Media anymore and public visiblility is all if you are fighting to be a leader, so sadly those wishing for her return are going to be disappointed.
And BTW TEN FUCKING HOURS!!!! Sweet Jeebus ten hours from the guy who gave us the unforgettable Fox masterpiece the Half-Hour Comedy Hour ?????????? I think even David Simon would have a problem stretching out the Kennedys into 10 fucking hours of gripping TV.
-
The last sentence was intended to be part of an offer to post some more highlights of Roddy's hypocrisy.
And I will post some more highlights, if you like.
Hey Roddy, Debating Genius, you asked me:
"I do see quite a few Leftists walking around with Che Guevara t-shirts. What do you say to those Liberals who condone what Guevara did in killing scores of innocent people?"
Then, when I didn't respond to that lunacy, you said:
"As I suspected, no harsh words for all the people who wear Che Guevara t-shirts."
So, in the spirit of baiting you to psychotic rage, I offered some harsh words about those T-Shirt wearing Traitors.
Let's face it, pinhead, you're totally fucked, aren't you?
-
Notice how he doesn't quote me saying "cocksucker" cause he couldn't find it? It's alost like I can see him typing that shit up, then asking himself if he'll get called on it, then deciding to post it anyway. You're so good looking up my quotes, but you can't find that one?
And nothing I said there is wrong, at all. George W. Bush IS a Liberal, just a sixties style Liberal, like JFK, not a modern day Liberal, which would more appropriately be called "Progressive" even though they are quite backward. Ron Paul is a true conservative. If I said that about Coulter I'd be wrong, and the evidence is her love of Palin. No real conservative could support her. And where did I say McCarthy was a true conservative? I said he was a hero, and he was. And where did I say Slobbo was a true conservative? For someone who is so adept at finding past quotes of mine, you seem to need to make a lot of shit up. Again, you think it is okay to bomb an ally? Slobbo was our ally, or maybe you didn't know that.
And please answer the question, if I am evil then what does that make people who support Che Guevara by wearing his likeness on t-shirts? Are they evil or not? Why can't you answer such a simple question?
And you continue to show your utter ignorance on the subject of religious moderation. You obviously have never studied religion, nor done much research on it, much less read any religious texts. Or are you like DocPazuzu and think the word of God can be cherry picked and changes with the times? Bear in mind, I am not a religious person nor do I even know if I believe in a god. -
You mean your feeble attempts at jokes upthread a few posts? Answer the fucking question, if I am evil for allegedly supporting Slobbo, what does that make people who support Guevara? Do you think all those idiots who wear those shirts are evil?
-
Didn't you read your own words which I quoted only 15 minutes ago?
Let me remind you.
Feb. 15 2006 at 2.31 pm.
"All you cocksucking Liberals love shit like Sin City ..."
Okay, I see the "cock" word, and the "sucker" word and the "L" word.
You're fucked again!
So Roddy, you called me on it, and you lost.
As usual, you think you'll be able to bluff your way through, but you're not smart enough, and you're not careful enough, and your gigantic but fragile ego means you keep digging yourself further and further into the shit. -
See, I at least admit when I am lazy and don't read the posts thoroughly, which is more than I can say for you. So you got me, one time, wow, good work dude! At it's nice how you missed my point about using cocksucker, I am labelled a right wing extremist here, so of course I would use a gay slur as an insult, I am an intolerant right wing sexist, racist, etc. But you Libs use gay slurs all the time, and that is not what you guys are supposed to be about. But I would not expect you to grasp such subtlety.
But one can see where I made my mistake, in that you make up shit all the time, one only needs to see the hogwash you post about global warming to know you make everything up.
And what about those kids who wear Guevara t-shirts? Forgot about them? Are they evil or am I the only evil one?
And fragile ego? You talking about yourself there? And as far as smarts go, dude, don't even try. Your intellect is so far beneath mine you can't even see daylight anymore. But thanks for playing, sparky! -
Thanks for the warning, I really don't take personal attacks seriously, because we're pretty much anonymous here--we don't know who each other is/are. They're just annoying and don't add anything to the conversation. I try to talk issues--I admit sometimes I get pissed off and throw in an insult or an attack, I'm only human. BSB has attacked me lots, but I gloss over them and read whatever is left that is worth debating. And Rowdy, I'm not sucking up. Telling BSB is wrong is hardly sucking up. I'm totally aware that my politics automatically qualify me as evil, as hitler, to the intellectually lazy on the left. I don't put too much stock in those insults because they're worthless to me. I think liberals are wrong. I understand they think conservatives are evil. I understand that difference, and proceed accordingly. I aint suckin up my friend. I just want a conversation, and sometimes you have to acknowledge the rare moments that lefties like BSB actually say something thought out, to continue the conversation--and maybe at the same time point out their hypocrisy, and help them think clearer. Yeah, read between the lines, I'm being condescending. But so are they. Again, thanks for the concern. Roddy, you and I probably disagree more than people realize, because you're a Ron Paul supporter. But I'll keep my assumptions about you to that...as long as you don't lump me in as a 'typical republican' that tries to appease the left. If you've read some of my lonely diatribes, you'd hardly call them appeasement.

Did not mean to insult you, I just get peeved when gracious conservatives like yourself act maturely towards imbecile Nazi children like BSB who have no respect for anyone unless they're killing Jews or support killing Jews.
Again, I apologize. And I apologize that simpletons will lump us together because we may agree on a few things. Namely, that conservatives merely look at Liberals as naive, whereas they look at us as evil incarnate. -

"pansy" - sounds like a you're calling someone a homosexual there, Mr Gay Tolerance Police.
In your frantic ducking and weaving, you've trotted out some of your tedious BS about
Global warming.
You're in the Flat Earth club there, sport.
On at least four occasions you've run the line, abandoned now even by the Republican party, that climate change has nothing to do with human activity.
I pointed out each time that the overwhelming scientific consensus was to the contrary.
That is, a vast majority of climate change scientists disagree with you - an AVID editor with NBC News, uncontaminated with any relevant scientific qualifications.
On the last occasion [I'll quote you if you like] you claimed that there was direct evidence against that proposition.
I posted: "Cite it, muthafucka"
You didn't because you can't.
You're fucked again.
I have to say, I love your last line:
"Your intellect is so far beneath mine, you can't even see daylight anymore"
That's got to be the single weakest riposte I've ever seen on this website in 10 years. That would be lame, feeble and impotent in any Kindergarten!
Lift your game, you pitiful eunuch!

When it comes to judging politicians, the left loves symbolism and soundbytes. They judge Palin based on interviews, but ignore her actual political achievements. That's why they love Obama so much--he does well when it comes to interviews and speeches, but when it comes to actual achievements and executive experience, he's leaner than Michelle's arms.Libs LOVE to point out the Palin's accent, her hunting, her poor performance for the media. Well, I guess that disqualifies her from public office, since she so poorly failed that test of tests: approval of today's media. They base their entire approval of Obama on his APPEARANCE of intelligence, and how well he answers questions fielded by a media of their political persuasion, while ignoring his lack of qualifications. They do the complete opposite with Palin, basing their entire disapproval of her on the repeated soundbytes of dismal interviews, while ignoring how her government and executive experience outweigh Obamas the way a tanker truck outweighs a skateboard.Symbolism and image mean SO much more to the left, when it comes to selecting their American Idol. Alas, so far his approach to economics equal his lack of experience, and we're learning this the hard way.The left basically says, "So what if he's never governed a state, so what if he's never managed any sort of budget in his life? So what if he's never managed a payroll or had to make executive decisions? WHAT MATTERS IS he's a symbol of HOPE, he MEANS well, and he's for change!"Palin could cure cancer and the left would say she was doing it to help her fat cat friends in the pharmaceutical companies. Basically, when the left calls Palin "stupid", I don't put stock into it. Why not? They elected Obama based on WHAT exactly? He's a great talker. He doesn't sound like a hick.Greeaaatt. Figures that the reality show/facebook generation gave us Obama.

For something that supposedly EVERYONE thinks is true except for wingnuts like myself, polling would indicate otherwise. The more idiots like you try to spread lies, the more the public turns against you. The sharp temperature declines of 2008 have been disastrous for people like you. For you, global warming has never been about science or data, but about power. Man made, or anthropogenic, global warming is a powerful justification for a massive govt expansion over human activities.
For GW to exist, temps need to be rising. But warming stopped 10 years ago. Temps started decreasing 7 years ago, on average about 1 degree fahrenheit per decade. The globe is cooling right now. Surface temps in the U.S. were warmer in the 1930's. From the 40's to the 70's, temps declined, despite the abundance of fossil fuels being burned during that period. Remember how idiots like you were running around screaming about global cooling? Temps then increased until 1998. If the recent declines continue, all the increases since 1900 will soon be offset.
You and the other alarmists like to ignore satellite data on atmospheric temps, which is not distorted by the location, coverage and surrounding activities of land based weather stations, which outside the U.S. and europe are highly unreliable. This satellite data starts in 1979 and shows NO increase in global temps until 1998, when the El Nino that year caused a sharp temp spike. The most recent temp declines have now almost completely offset that increase, meaning that there has been no real increase in temps in the last 30 years!
As you know, and like to ignore, temps were higher during the Medieval Warm Period, several hundred years around 1000 AD. Even higher temps prevailed during a period known as the Holocene Climate Optimum, which ran roughly from 6,000 BC to 2,000 BC. In fact, from 9000 BC to the birth of Christ, temps were higher than they are today. Yet there were no fossil fuels being burned!!
Amazingly, during this warm period, plant and animal life, as well as humans, flourished, while the polar ice caps did not melt and sea levels did not rise and flood everyone out of house and home.
CO2 is not pollution! It is a naturally occurring substance in the Earth's atmosphere essential to life. Atmospheric concentration of CO2 was much higher in the past than it is today. And the record shows that temp increases PRECEDED CO2 increases by HUNDREDS of years.
Now, it is true that CO2 concentrations have begun slowly rising again due in part to the Industrial Revolution. Already it is causing more rapid growth of plant life! Oh, the horror! Humans and their activities currently account for only 3% of CO2 emissions each year, and less than half of the CO2 emitted by burning fossil fuels remains in the atmosphere! The rest is absorbed by the ocean or incorporated into the terrestrial biosphere. Any policies to reduce human CO2 emissions would have decidedly negligible effects on future temps.
Recent trends have been for the Antarctic ice cap to expand, while it is the Arctic ice cap that has been reported as receding due to slight melting. But that was due to temporarily warm ocean currents, as the Arctic ice cap is over water, unlike the Antarctic ice cap which is over land. In the past couple of years that slight melting has been REVERSED and the Arctic ice cap has been restored to 1979 levels. The melting of glaciers has caused sea levels to rise 400 feet OVER THE LAST 18,000 YEARS! And that rise has been DECELERATING over the past 5,000 years, settling into a stable rate of increase over the last century of about 1.8mm per year, regardless of global temp fluctuations.
All scientists agree that if man made global warming is real, it would leave a fingerprint in the form of temps increasing with altitude in the tropical troposphere portion of the atmosphere up to a hotspot about 10km above the surface, reflecting the pattern of CO2 and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Warming due to solar variations or other natural causes would not leave such a fingerprint.
Recently, higher quality temp data from balloons and satellites now enable us to settle this debate. The data shows no increasing warming with altitude, but rather a slight cooling, with no hotspot. Satellite data shows the same thing. Dopes like you have not and cannot come up with an effective response to this data. The data is the data. The science is the science. Man made global warming is a hoax.
So of course you will ignore all this because you are not interested in science, not interested in facts, you're interested in reducing people's freedom, period. Now fuck off already you dipshit. I've completely destroyed you in this talkback. -
So now you are saying gay guys can't be tough, but are all pansies? Gay dudes suck cock, but a lot of them are pretty tough also. Not pansies at all. Your comments show what a homophobe you really are as you try to hide behind rhetoric.

Never mind an Economic Catastrophe and the intractable problems of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq.
And it is not "the left" who heaped on Palins huntin, fishin, religious soccer mom image. That was a deliberate strategy by the Reps and her "handlers". In fact why bother to say Palin boosted the Reps poularity if that wasn't the case ? We all know WHY she was chosen as VEEP. It was to pander to the "base" that McCain wasn't reaching. And it worked, until she was caught in the headlights of Election scrutiny and then it backfired badly.
nd to bring this back to the Kennedys, LBJ was chosen to help win the South. Veeps are there primarily to help in the campaign and if they can't do that then they become dead weight.
But it was ALL the Media wasn't it ? The same Media that Gave Bush a free pass for an Invasion based on horseshit about WMD's for those of a laughably short memory.
But Palin herself puts it FAR better than I could, because it's on tape where Palin criticizes Clinton for her response to media scrutiny she received while on the campaign trail.
Palin says, "When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or, you know, maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country. I don’t think it’s, it bodes well for her -- a statement like that."
The Republican vice presidential nominee says that Clinton should just "work harder" and "prove yourself to an even greater degree that you are capable."
Palin explains, “I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. I mean, you’ve got to plow through that. You have to know what you’re getting into which, I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton and to her experience and to her passion for changing the status quo.”
The Alaska Governor concludes, “It bothers me a little bit, hearing, hearing her bring that attention to herself on that level.”----------
Those Liberal Media Douchebags!!! Reporting what she actualy said. The nerve. Clearly a left wing conspiracy at work.
But like I said by all means try to rehabilitate her as you have no idea how keen some are to see her back in the spotlight.
Being a Governor does not make you a Statesman. And ask her old friend Ted Stevens if "experience" like that is an automatic guarantee of honesty or competence either.
BTW throwing in a little something about how skinny Michelle's arms are ? Lovely touch and shows us how serious you are in your contempt of a reality show/facebook generation obsessed by appearance and image. -

But in case you sense a right-wing trap, let me summarize for you. It's a collection of Obama gaffes that would make Bush look like a genius! Now, if you're not a hypocrite and if you're intellectually honest--give this the hypocrisy test. Imagine if you Palin said any ONE of these Obama gems! You'd be foaming at the mouth like a dog that ate a bar of Irish Spring! Oh, and DON'T get me started on that rocket scientist Joe Biden! You gotta admit, these Obama blunders are a doozie, pretty damn priceless if you ask me. If you had any ounce of fairness or credibility, you'd criticize the clown prince of politics for these intellectual hiccups. Compare these to that Palin-Couric interview to your heart's content. I'm sorry Palin didn't pass that sorority initiation known as mainstream media, that REALLY disqualifies her doesn't it, since the media has such a stellar track record of politcal astuteness. -
I am no fan of Palin, but your comment about how if she cured cancer the Libs would say it was to line the pockets of big pharma is so fucking right on, it hurts. Expect to be ignored or attacked for saying such a true thing.

I was just curious if anyone here was laughably stupid enough to actually turn off their lights for the ridiculously silly Earth Hour this weekend. Let me get this straight. You said the media gave GWB a PASS on the Iraq war? Are you freakin serious? What newspapers do you read? All of them, whatever's in front of you? You just shot yourself in the foot with that ridiculous statement. As for her 'friend' Ted Stevens, you're obviously a stranger to Alaska politics. Palin was one of Ted Stevens' harshest opponents and critics. Nice try though. Palin doesn't pass Liberal Perceptions Politics 101. Sorry, it's a rubber ruler, it's whatever you want it to be. I suggest you give Joe Biden that same test you so impose on Palin. Remember that non-existent war he invented about the US kicking Hezbollah out of Lebanon? And he's SUPPOSED to be a foreign policy wonk? Honestly...HONESTLY, put Biden's words next to Palins and you'll be kicking yourself in the butt for being so blindly partisan in ignoring how clueless Joe is...hey, that's his new nickname! Clueless Joe!(cue circus music!!)

Oh shoot! I totally forgot to turn off my lights last night for Earf Hour!!! I was too busy watching my Seattle Sounders spank Real Salt Lake (yeah yeah, I'm a soccer hooligan). But if I'm not mistaken, I did notice a lot of houses in our neighborhood went dark, and everyone got in their cars, guzzling gas, driving around the neighborhood to see how cool the darkened streets looked.

Put up or shut up, dude. It's fucking ponderous.

It's true really. Conservatives can do nothing right in the eyes of the loons on the left. They don't acknowledge how women can vote in Iraq now, how Bush did MORE for women's rights in the middle east than anyone so far in history. Disagree with Bush all they want, they'll never acknowledge how he championed, for millions of Iraqi women, what they (the dems) think they have a monopoly on (women's rights). They never acknowledged Bush's cabinet choices--first black Secretary of State. Did the left celebrate that? No, they called Powell and uncle Tom. Then we got Condi and they called her Brown Sugar (I won't even get started on the hypocrisy of their take on Condi). He appoints the FIRST Hispanic-American AG (Gonzalez) but they focus on his firing of 8 states attorneys (while ignoring the 90 plus that Clinton fired). I think we need to resign ourselves to the fact that you won't get consistency from the left. That's ok, they FEEL they're doing the right thing. Feelings are never consistent, so political policies that are based on feelings, and not principles, will ALWAYS be inconsistent.
-
Just putting in some real work instead of spanking your stupid ass.
I'll be back to kick the shit out the egregious tripe in your post (which you've been frantically collecting from undocumented sources around the internet) as soon as I finish my real job tonight.
The things you assert have been put forward to the science community and rejected. The scientific consensus remains: global warming is continuing and human activity contributes to it.
And as for the "pansy" statement, that was YOU, in total hypocrisy mode, attempting to disparage liberals by referring to them using a slang word for homosexuals.
No matter how you twist, you can't weasel your way out of it. -
Kinda sucks to try and hammer Hillary for blaming the Media then becoming forever known as the VEEP candidate who blamed the Media for everything don't it ?
And why should a collection of clips I've heard endlessly repeated by Limbaugh, O'Reily and right wing bloggers surprise me ? Some are funnier than others and some would raise a chuckle if Bush said them but nothing more than that. Because you're living in a dream world if you think 2 minutes can touch Bush's never ending stream of idiocy or Palin's "winking" wisdom.
The point is Obama doesn't sound like a doofus almost every time he speaks. They did.
And if you were intellectually honest you wouldn't decry the shallowness of the Media while trying to push trivia like that.
Bush didn't get those record breaking unpopularity numbers just from his endless gaffes and Palin didn't become a drag on the ticket because of one or two mistakes. Remember who was doing the criticizing of Palin and her choice as the Veep as the Election neared, it included some very senior Republicans not just the "mainstream media" or the Dems. -

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began building clout in her state’s political circles in part by serving as a director of an independent political group organized by the now embattled Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens.
Palin’s name is listed on 2003 incorporation papers of the “Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.,” a 527 group that could raise unlimited funds from corporate donors. The group was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in the state. She served as one of three directors until June 2005, when her name was replaced on state filings.----

Or do you actually think the Shia and Sunni Militias who rule on the ground are a hotbed of western values and women's rights ? And here's an extract from an Amnesty report from the Kurdush region to hammer it home for those who swallow all the spin and propaganda.

Women and girls in Iraq are suffering from systematic violence and a sustained assault on their human rights. In addition to being victims of the bombings and other attacks that put so many Iraqis in danger every day, they are also being targeted specifically because of their gender. In this document Amnesty International urges the Iraqi authorities to consult with women human rights defenders on measures to combat violence against women.

Iraq's ex-minister for women's rights speaks out. --- Mar 8, 2009
BAGHDAD (AFP) — When she was made Iraqi minister for women's rights, Nawal al-Samarrai threw herself enthusiastically into the job. But six months later she resigned, saying the government cares little for the plight of women.
"I have lots of will power, I'm tenacious," Samarrai, wearing a beige headscarf, told AFP in the hotel where she lives in Baghdad's high-security Green zone, in an interview marking International Women's Day on Sunday.
"I was convinced that I could improve conditions for women, but I ran into a wall," said the 47-year-old gynaecologist.
"The occupation, terrorism, the economy collapsing ... all that produced an army of widows, an increase in the number of divorcees, unmarried women, women beggars," she said.
According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, between one and three million Iraqi families are now headed by women after seemingly endless years of war.
"Society is falling apart and me, I was a minister in a ministry without means, without power, without offices outside Baghdad," said Samarrai.
The ministry had a budget of just 7,500 dollars a month, salaries excluded, Samarrai said.
"How can you work? I protested, I insisted. None of my requests were met, or only partly."
Money to organise a women's conference? Samarrai would receive at best half if not a quarter of the amount needed. Or worse still, a letter from the prime minister's office saying that no cash was available.

Oh dear, it seems some poor saps are STIL confused by the same old talking points Bush trotted out for the gullible ? Or is this "Mission Accomplished" ?

You claim (as an ace AVID video editor, hater of most earthlings and all-round sociopath) that it's a lie that "the consensus of scientists is that human activities are contributing to global warming".
Okay, here's the evidence proving this consensus exists:
(1) The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - (established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Program) which has producing reports since 1990 based substantially on external peer reviewed and published scientific literature said in its most recent report in (finalized Nov 2007):
▪ Warming of the climate system is unequivocal.
▪ Most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (human) greenhouse gas concentrations.
▪ Anthropogenic warming and sea level rise would continue for centuries due to the timescales associated with climate processes and feedbacks, even if greenhouse gas concentrations were to be stabilized, although the likely amount of temperature and sea level rise varies greatly depending on the fossil intensity of human activity during the next century.
▪ The probability that this is caused by natural climatic processes alone is less than 5%.
So is that right? Do externally peer reviewed scientific papers really boil down to that?
Yep. According to virtually all major scientific bodies.
(2) The IPCC reports have been endorsed by the following bodies:
(a) The World Joint Science Academies (representing tens of thousands of scientists around the world) stated: "The work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change represents the consensus of the international scientific community on climate change science. We recognise IPCC as the world’s most reliable source of information on climate change and its causes, and we endorse its method of achieving this consensus. ( See "The science of climate change" at www.royalsociety.org. [I take it you know what the Royal Society is].
(b) The Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences stated: "We concur with the climate science assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2001 ... We endorse the conclusions of the IPCC assessment" - that 2001 assessment was reiterated, with significantly more detailed evidence in 2007 (Letter to the Canadian Prime Minister 25 November 2005).
(c) The European Geosciences Union, which stated "The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change...is the main representative of the global scientific community...The IPCC third assessment report...represents the state-of-the-art of climate science supported by the major science academies around the world and by the vast majority of scientific researchers and investigations as documented by the peer-reviewed scientific literature." (Position Statement on Climate Change and Recent Letters from the Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce 7 July 2005)
(d) The US National Research Council - "The IPCC's conclusion that most of the observed warming of the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations accurately reflects the current thinking of the scientific community on this issue." (http://tiny.cc/dQOxt )
(e) Stratigraphy Commission of the Geological Society of London "The most authoritative assessment of climate change in the near future is provided by the Inter-Governmental Panel for Climate Change." (http://tinyurl.com/cp8pm2)
(f) The Royal Meteorological Society - responding to the 4th report described the Panel as “The world’s best climate scientists” ( http://tiny.cc/DKsfK)
(g) Network of African Science Academies: (http://tiny.cc/NUAOR)
(h) Literally dozens of other scientific bodies have endorsed the IPCC conclusion. I can list them.
(3) Like it or not, Rowdy, that's CONSENSUS. The climate scientists who are on record as disagreeing with some (and in a handful of cases, all) of the IPCC conclusions appear to number less than 100. If you knew anything about science, you'd be aware that near-unanimous consensus like this is exceptionally rare.
Personally, I'd love the scientists to be wrong, but unfortunately, the evidence continues to mount. Dr Pachauri, the IPCC chairman pointed out when the 4th report was published that scientists have recorded "much stronger trends in climate change", like the unforeseen dramatic melting of polar ice in the summer of 2007", since the conclusions were formulated: (http://tiny.cc/r0O2f)
So, you lose another argument. The consensus exists.
But then you nuked yourself in both feet! More fun follows ....

... disturbingly strange person.
"...obviously you're not a Jew, because you have no understanding of the historical self-destructiveness of the Jewish people and how they love those that hate them. And Schindler? Leave it to a self hating Jew like Spielberg to finally make a movie about the Holocaust and MAKE THE HERO A FUCKING NAZI!!!"
Nurse, nurse, bring the Thorazine! Make that a double shot! -
Professor Emeritus, RoddyRowdyStriper, Milosevic condoner, Muslim hater, Kahanist Loony contends:
"All those climate scientists who assert that human activity is involved in climate change are lying. I can prove it."
Uh, okay, how?
Roddy's ludicrous mode of proof: - Cut'n'paste a bowderlized report by a lawyer employed at the Heartland Institute (a conservative think-tank which provides Rent-An-Opinion junk science documents to Philip Morris and MobilExxon) about unpublished, unattributed opinions uttered by 6 scientists (and unnamed others) at a picnic run by the Institute.
Here's the original article
http://tinyurl.com/ d3dcmr
Read it and weep with laughter. Rowdy's cut and pasted it, UNATTRIBUTED of course, then garnished it with his inimitable hate-vomit, pretending it's some kind of scientific report.
Comically, the author (the ludicrously unqualified Peter Ferrara , the grandiosely entitled "director of budget and entitlement policy at the Institute for Policy Innovation" - another name for the Heartland Institute) battles manfully with the scientific concepts he obviously doesn't have a clue about.
Particularly persuasive - all the scientists were speaking "softly"! LOL
I particularly loved Rowdy's breathless revelation:
"CO2 is not pollution! It is a naturally occurring substance in the Earth's atmosphere essential to life."
Wow! You mean like photosynthesis? So you can never have too much CO2- 'cause it will help the plants to grow (you know, so it won't matter how high temperatures rise)!!
For fucks sake! That qualifies as the most abysmally stupid dump you've ever had the temerity to spray on AICN readers.
And the lychpin of this garbled nonsense?
"All scientists agree that if man made global warming is real, it would leave a fingerprint in the form of temps increasing with altitude in the tropical troposphere portion of the atmosphere up to a hotspot about 10km above the surface, reflecting the pattern of CO2 and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Warming due to solar variations or other natural causes would not leave such a fingerprint."
Guess what, dude - that's complete nonsense. "All scientists" don't agree anything of the sort! Do some basic research, you pissant.
So where is the evidence to support your deeply improbable theory that thousands of scientists are liars? And that the governments who have accepted their advice haven't analysed their reports? And that Reinsurers around the world have incorrectly assessed the risk of climate damage in fixing higher premiums in a plunging reinsurance market?
And sorry, the witterings of Peter Ferrara - hack lobbyist - aren't evidence. They're just hot air.
You fucking fraud.

You're quick to associate Palin with Stevens and you've cut and pasted nicely to demonstrate your point. Well done. I stand corrected. I acknowledge the ties between two officials of Alaska who bumped shoulders and gave each other kind words, had mutual shared associations PRIOR to the scandal, which was a surprise to all. They did find themselves on opposites sides of the oil company issues, and when the scandal broke (which was news to everyone) she was critical of the involvement. But when I'm shown the error of my mistatements, I think I'm man enough to acknowledge when I've been out cut-and-pasted. Now here's a challenge for you. It's called 'the hypocrisy test'. Impress us all with your exhaustive ability to surf the net, cut and paste. How would you compare that to the ties between Obama and Blagojevich? Well, if you like, I've done the work for you:Obama Advised Blagojevich On His Victorious Gubernatorial Run. “That year, [Obama] gained his first high-level experience in a statewide campaign when he advised the victorious gubernatorial candidate Rod Blagojevich, another politician with a funny name and a message of reform.” (Ryan Lizza, “Making It,” The New Yorker, 7/21/08)
* Obama: “If the governor asks me to work on his behalf, I’ll be happy to do it.” (John Patterson, “Senator Says He’s Still Willing To Help Blagojevich Despite Hiring Concerns,” Chicago Daily Herald, 7/27/06)
Obama Endorsed Blagojevich For A Second Term. “Obama, who endorsed Blagojevich for a second term nearly 18 months ago, said he’s ready to help Illinois democrats in the upcoming elections.” (John Patterson, “Senator Says He’s Still Willing To Help Blagojevich Despite Hiring Concerns,” Chicago Daily Herald, 7/27/06)
* Obama: “We’ve got a governor in Rod Blagojevich who has delivered consistently on behalf of the people of Illinois.” (Deanna Bellandi, “Illinois Democrats Talk Unity But Don’t Show It,” The Associated Press, 8/16/06)
Now, you can spin that all you want, it's just going to sound like foaming at the mouth. I'm sure Obama 'didn't sound like a doofus' when he said that. And AGAIN, you keep proving my point. That the way a liberal politician SOUNDS seems to be so much more important than the actual SUBSTANCE of their words--EVEN when they're saying we have 57 states, or referring to his job as "commander OF chief". You know what that's called, when someone says something STUPID but at least SOUNDS intelligent? It's called being a puppet, or an empty suit. But thanks for emphasizing that point for everyone else. It does surprise me though that you've HEARD these gaffes before, yet are adamant in your denying fair treatment to lesser gaffes by those you disagree with politically. Your passion is admirable, but your hypocrisy and partisanship nullify the merits of your scholarship.I'll acknowledge that Palin had ties with Stevens, and that she might not sound acceptably intelligent to east coasters. But I'll acknowledge her executive credentials and political achievements (becoming governor without having been married to a governor or president, like some New York senators), her managing multi-billion dollar state budgets--which is light years ahead of anything Obama managed (but oh yeah, he 'doesn't sound like a doofus'--that's REALLY reassuring). But then you'd have to acknowledge Obama's lack of experience and his ties to Blagojevich--if you're going to have ANY credibility in criticizing Palin. You see, Palin does not exist in a political vacuum. Criticism is fair if you apply the same standard to both sides of the equation. So far you've managed to display that your main gripes with Palin are how she sounds--because you invalidate the Ted Stevens connection if you FAIL to acknowledge the Blagojevich connection to Obama. With that criteria, your assessment of Palin is shallow, hypocritical, hyper-partisan. In layman's terms, that means your case is freakin lame.Unless you acknowledge the significance of the ties Obama has to Blago (don't even get me started on Rezko, Ayers, the financial wizards behind Fannie and Freddy and ACORN) then everything you say is sound and fury signifying nothing. Fair's fair. And lame's lame. -
There's no need to introduce him as such. But how many know Joel Surnow is conservative? Not many. So stop looking for some damn liberal conspiracy from Herc and shut the fuck up already.
-
Conservatives believe in limited government but they want the government to dictate what you can and cant do in your personal life, or who you can and cant marry. Liberals believe censorship is bad, and yet for the most part want all speech to be politically correct. Conservatives often cite the 1st Amendment and yet get upset with the language and content in films and tv and want it censored. They're all hypocrites. End of story. No reason to argue when we're all so much the same.

Good show, Rowdy: "McCain eventually said whatever the Vietnamese wanted him to say," That's why its such a good technique. Yep. Gets real results we need.

It's true that there are hypocrites on both sides, no surprise there. It's the nature of politics. However it's a fallacy to say that conservatives want to "dictate what you can or can't do in your personal life and who you can and can't marry." I'm assuming you're referring to the issue of gay marriage, asserting that conservatives want to 'ban gay marriage'. Conservatives don't say "You can't marry someone of the same sex". Conservatives practically don't care who you marry. Just don't require the federal government to supercede state law in RECOGNIZING same sex marriage. That's not a ban. It's more about letting the states decide what they want to decide. It's not a ban from the conservatives, it's more the left wanting federal control over the states. When a state, like California for instance, approved prop 8, that was the people speaking. The left LOST that battle. Yet, typical of the left, what they CAN'T get through the democratic process, they tattle, they run to the federal government, to judges to SUBVERT the will of the people. Defining marriage as what it has always been does not BAN you from what you want to do in your personal life. Conservatives don't prohibit men from sleeping with other men, or women with other women, and if they want to form a legal partnership, or civil union, NO ONE is stopping them--they can get visitation rights, they can get inheritance rights--all that. But why have a minority DEFINE for the majority WHAT marriage always was referred to? That's the LEFT telling the right what to do. I'm a conservative and I don't care if gays marry or call it marriage. But if you're going to force the federal government to supercede the authority of the states, I have a problem with that. Remember, it's the LEFT that brought up the gay marriage issue. If the left in California DON'T like what the voters voted on, they get their supreme court to overturn it? That's a problem too...getting the judiciary to legislate--that violates the separation of powers. That's NOT the right BANNING personal behavior. Remember that prop 8 was in response to this violation of the separation of powers. There is hypocrisy on the right, but 'banning personal behavior' is a poor argument against the right wanting limited government. Also, don't confuse LIMITED government with NO government at all. Conservatism is not the same as anarchy. A better argument would be to say Bush expanded government like CRAZY on his watch, and spent like a liberal, after having campaigned on smaller government and curbed spending.
-
until the Supreme Court overturned the law. I'd say that was an attempt at banning personal behavior. No?

A ban on homosexual sex in Texas has been overturned by the US Supreme Court in what is being seen as a landmark gay-rights ruling.
The case was brought by two Texas men, John Lawrence and Tyron Garner, who were caught having sex on private premises in 1998.
On Thursday, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy said for the majority of the judges in the 6-3 ruling that the two men "are entitled to respect for their private lives".
BBC News Online's Washington correspondent Steve Schifferes says the ruling is likely to make laws that still regulate sodomy illegal, and provide an important assurance for the 600,000 openly gay households in the country.
All of us as Americans have the right to choose how we can express our love for one another in the privacy of our own homes
Gay rights and civil liberties groups hailed the ruling as "historic", but there was an outcry from conservatives who said it was an attack on the family and the "moral norms" of the nation.
Matt Foreman, director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force said: "It's saying to everyone all across the country that the government has no right peering behind your bedroom door or knocking it down and arresting you."
But Tom Minnery, of the conservative Focus on the Family, said: "If the people have no right to regulate sexuality then ultimately the institution of marriage is in peril, and with it, the welfare of the coming generations of children."
-
You're absolutely right about the sodomy laws in Texas. That's a good example--but it's not typical of the MAJORITY of conservatives. It's Texas, after all. A lot of conservatives I know, myself included, think the sodomy law was pretty stupid. I think it's up to churches to tell their congregations what behavior is acceptable or not, WITHOUT having to use the power of government to enforce it. I wouldn't say the government SHOULDN'T have laws protecting minors when it comes to sex--because those laws have more to do with protecting citizens...sodomy is between consenting adults, is NOT a crime, and shouldn't be treated as such. Now, forced oral or anal should be treated as sexual assault, and should not be distinguished from any other kind of forced sex. That being said, whether you're a liberal or a conservative, oral sex is awesome. And though it aint for everyone, I recommend that every girl try (cough) anal (um...)...hey, how about that weather we're having?
-
Yes, I believe you when you say that the majority of Conservatives view the regulation of private, legal activity to be an intrusion upon basic rights. But I also think that the voice of the Right has been overtaken by religious groups, whose main purpose *is* to control personal behavior (and thought). That is quite a dilemma for your side, I think.
I agree with you about Prop 8. I'm not much for culture wars, and that's what it is - a clash between Mormons and Gays. I support civil rights / unions for gays, I don't think legalizing gay marraige is necessary. However, I'm not gay, so I value their opinions on the matter. It's natural (and right) for anyone to seek equality under the law, even if under the marraige label. -

SARAH PALIN DENOUNCES TALKBACKER ABUSE OF ROWDYRODDYBENLOBOTOMY
by bringingsexyback
"These are degrading remarks about one of our world's most precious and unique people. RowdyRoody has overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will. By the way, RowdyRoody can outperform many in my family and we are proud of him. I hope these talkers' comments do not reflect how AICN truly feels about the special needs community."
-
But it often takes judges to overturn "the will of the pple" because that "will" is sometimes wrong. Case in point- slavery and segregation.
-
These political talkbacks are terrible.
-
Firstly, it's an insult to the memory of those that suffered slavery, when you put gay rights in that same category. It's an incongruous comparison. Slavery was overturned by the LEGISLATURE, not the judiciary, the legislature representing the will of the people at the time. Slavery violates 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness'. You can HARDLY make the argument that granting civil unions, while wishing to retain the DEFINITION of marriage as one man one woman is akin to sanctioning slavery...gays are put in chains, they're not into force servitude, they're not being traded against their will, they're not being lynched.

It's not me who thinks being Governor of Alaska makes you a grade A Genius or Statesman or experience that guarantees success. That would be you.
As for Blago are you seriously deranged enough to try and shift the blame on me for not mentioning someone you just brought up ? Apparently so. So since you didn't mention Mark Foley that makes you also "guilty" of this strange new precognative "crime".
Blago is a piece of shit who deserves to spend a great deal of time in Prison. Obama and every OTHER person who ever gave him a kind word now looks foolish. Happy ?
But since you LOVE proof or as you try to dismiss it "cut and paste" let's look at Wiki's referenced quotes about the Blago Obama "love in"
---Although Barack Obama served as an adviser to Blagojevich's 2002 gubernatorial campaign, by all accounts, Blagojevich and Obama have been estranged for years.[56][52][25] Blagojevich did not endorse Obama in the latter's 2004 United States Senate race, and Obama did not extend an invitation to Blagojevich to speak at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, as he did Lisa Madigan, Hynes, and Giannoulias.[25]---
I also like the quotes from other Dems who had no illusions of the man and were more than willing to criticise him before and after his fall. Democratic Rep. Joe Lyons told reporters, "We have a madman. The man is insane." Democratic Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley called Blagojevich "cuckoo".(he IS cuckoo BTW)
Because once the Blago revelations came to light Obama and the Dems wasted no time in trying to make the scumbag resign and impeach him. Sadly Blago has yet to feel the full force of the Law.
And yes, Ted Stevens was also cast into the outer darkness, but the Republicans only did this AFTER he was a convicted felon because Palin held a joint news conference with him last July, BEFORE he was indicted, to make clear she had not abandoned him politically.
If we are speaking of misjudging people then it's pretty clear who made the most gross error.
Character clearly matters. Becoming a Governor is hardly fucking proof of Genius or fitness to serve is it ? And as we see with Stevens it's almost possible to get elected in Alaska while being a convicted felon so I would be less hasty in thrusting the fact that Palin was elected Governor in Alaska as the magical proof of her "hidden" talents.
Palin doesn't just sound stupid she IS stupid. And her extreme right positions were as big a liability as her never ending ability to sound like a Doofus. You betcha.
I only wish Palin WOULD return to Politics (and BELIEVE me I'm hardly alone) but sadly she has all but conceded the leadership and future direction of the Republicans to others now as her continued absence shows.
And feel free to spin this anyway YOU want because I have heard this all before and laughably bringing up Rezko, Ayers, Fannie and Freddy and ACORN is absolute proof of your own shallow, hypocritical, hyper-partisanship.
Ask BSB if we've heard these recycled FOX News/O'Reilly/Limbaugh talking points many, MANY times before. In case you weren't aware of it there was an Election faught on this horseshit and the Reps lost. -
Saying the religious right has taken over the republican party is another misconception. If this were the case, Huckabee would have been the nominee. Remember that the republican party is a coalition with three major parts: social conservatives, national security conservatives, and financial conservatives. The religious right has no monopoly over those three legs. Besides, with a lot of 'religious' themed legislation, ie faith based initiatives, several moderate and southern democrats vote for those (like keeping the tax exempt status for faith based organizations)...and freedom OF religion is neither a republican nor democrat issue. Jimmy Carter was a Baptist, so is Clinton, and they were vocal about it, gaining the supporter of religious voters of democrat and undecided persuasions. Maybe in the late eighties and early nineties, the religious right had more say. It's easy to use that argument, but it's not factually sustainable.
-
And her hilarious support and reliance on a batshit insane Exorcist was in no way indicative of this or her many other far right views that the voters would have no truck with.
Of course the REAL question is who would win in an "exorcism off" between Palin and Bobby Jindal ? I believe only BringingSexyBack may have the answer. -
That really can't be said enough for sheer hilarity value.
-
i mean it man

Turtle Power

I can almost hear your nervous laughter when 'laughing off' Ayers, Rezko, Fannie and Freddy, and ACORN. Explain these in your own words instead of this lazy 'laughing it off'. Yeah, an election was won in spite of these skeletons in the Obama closet. Just shows you how duped you were, and how quickly you dismiss actual serious issues. America looks like the fool for ignoring these criminal, if not highly questionable ties. And thank you very much, look what we ended up with: the most unqualified president we've seen in history. Can you SERIOUSLY defend Obama's qualifications? Name a law he enacted before becoming president, or even a bill he sponsored. There's NOTHING there. It's pathetic. No wonder he's your guy--his resume is just as credible as your blind loyalty to someone you can't even defend. Our grandkids will be cussing us out for electing this fraud, this empty suit, this novice, this rookie, this teleprompter sock puppet of a president. Oh yeah, hope and change right? Unicorns and bunnies. For the left to disparage religion, they sure raise their hands like mindless zealots when it comes to singing the praises of their Savior Barack.
-
See, this is why I never post facts when requested. They will inevitably be ignored, dismissed, ridiculed, but never proven false. I mean, look at irritable, he can't even argue the facts, like a true Leftist he goes after the people saying such things, so he will attack whoever says global warming is a hoax, but never actually address their points, afterall, why should he, he just went on about what a fool the guy is, so of course anything the fool said is not worth responding to. irritable also engages in the appeal to authority. He constantly invokes the U.N., like they have no interest in furthering the idea of a crisis so as to finally realize their dream of as much power as possible over people's freedom. As far as the IPCC most of the scientists who put their name to that hogwash ARE NOT EVEN CLIMATE SCIENTISTS!! irritable won't be happy until some govt agency is telling us how much we can drive our cars, or how long we can run our air conditioning, or how much heat we can use.
Notice how he invokes "scientific consensus" even though it is well known that consensus is the death of science. There are facts and there are theories. It is a fact that the Earth revolves around the Sun. It WAS scientific consensus that the Sun revolved around the Earth, see the difference? It is consensus until it is actually proven, then it becomes fact. Science is a question, but not to dogmatic fools like irritable.
Basically, people like irritable treat science as a religion, a dogma, deviation from which is heretical. He worships at the altar of science, while being completely ignorant of science. He dismisses me as an AVID editor, but will trust someone like Gore who also has no formal science education. Why? Cause he agrees with Gore and not me.
In any event, I had a much longer response that my computer ate, which talked about people like Fred Singer, who was the founder of the satellite division of the U.S. weather service, and how he doubts man made global warming. irritable can't answer basic facts like the one that says humans only put about 3% of greenhouse gases into the environment, and only half of that even lingers for any sustained period. irritable, time and time again I have destroyed you on these boards, but you keep coming back for more punishment. Like a true religious worshipper, you can't help but preach the gospel. You are an enemy of science. You're not interested in debate, you're interested in shutting it down. All the scientists who are against global warming are in the pockets of big oil, all the scientists for it are noble warriors risking their livelihood to tell the truth. You're a chicken little. And the public is not swayed by your and your ilk's fear tactics. Overwhelmingly the general population of the world sees global warming as less and less of a threat. All you have is fear, all you know is fear, and all you use is fear. Hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, wild fires, all used to be cause by mother nature, now they are all caused by man. Isn't that so convenient? And isn't it also convenient that the global warming mongers all happen to have socialist proclivities? They finally found something that sounds serious enough so they can enact their bullshit policies. I come down on the side of freedom, irritable comes down on the side of government limiting and watching you every second of every day, for our own good no less!
irritable, you have no facts, all you have are lies and more lies, fear and more fear, but no one is buying it, the tide is turning against global warming bullshit the more people see the actual facts. Facts, you know, facts, those things you have none of? Yeah, those things. Pesky fuckers, aren't they? -
...and tells us the cat ate his homework.
Yeah, right.
You condone urban terrorism by Chaim Ben Pesach, falsely stating he was bombing "SOVIET property and SOVIET scumbags" when he firebombed Avery Fisher Hall.
Is it any wonder no conservative posters on this TB will have anything to do with you?
You have the hypocrisy and gall to show your face around here when you've been caught red-handed plagiarizing junk-science from a Right Wing lobbyist lawyer and passing it off as "scientific fact
You're like a dog returning to its vomit.
Terrorist supporter. Genocide supporter. Scumbag. -
So you've been checking this TB al day JUST WAITING for me to post! How much of a loser are you? And again, you have no facts to back up your absurd claims about man made global warming, so you attack the source instead of the veracity. Can you refute one thing he says? No, of course you can't, cause the data is the data.
And dude, seriously, you want to take away all our freedoms. How can you show your face here? How can you show your face when YOU CAN'T REFUTE ONE SCIENTIFIC FACT I POSTED? How can you show your face when the majority of the world thinks are completely full of shit? And what the fuck do the other conservatives here have to do with me? Unlike you, I am not a sheep who begs for the acceptance of others. I speak my mind, and say what I feel. I don't check with others first to see if they approve, unlike you. You're a sad, pathetic individual, like Pavlov's dogs, you just wait to hear the bell of my post, and start salivating. I'm embarrassed for you. Get a life. It's a nice day out, enjoy it. Oh wait you can't cause you are filled with rage over global warming. Sad. Pathetic. irritable! -
Chances are irritable just checked the TB the exact same time you did. You both could be on the same work schedule. But somehow, you tried to make it allllll about you. "Such arrogance..."

The Economy is a serious issue. That lot was the desperate last gasp ramblings and smears from those who simply don't have any answers and thought Rovian attack Politics were a "magic bullet". They were hilariously wrong.
And that's the best you've got ? REALLY ? A sub-Limbaugh rant about Qualifications that Coughlins Lies and Fox and friends have regurgitated 1000 times before ? Pardon me while I yawn.
Perhaps you think Bush was SUPREMELY qualified ? And all that came afterwards was conclusive proof of this ?
I think whining about qualifications is truly fucking laughable because the Election is OVER. Obama's the President and he's going to BE the President no matter how amusingly hysterical the failed right get.
If he does a good job he'll get another term, if not he's out. So far the World has not self destructed in a deranged Glen Beck style comedy apocalypse. Nor will it.
But rest assured, it will be a cold day in Hell before the Voters turn to another "qualified Genius" like Bush or Palin to get out of a Recession a hideously complex Economic and a Foreign Policy clusterfuck. -
Are you denying you've posted PR spin from a lobbyist lawyer instead of scientific facts?
You obviously can't find a shred of fact to support your ridiculous climate theories on the whole wide Internet.
Now, back to the issue you've been dodging for 24 hours, what exact part of Avery Fisher Hall is "Soviet Property"?
Which "Soviet Scumbags" amongst those classical musicians was Chaim Ben Pesach, your hero, trying to kill when he firebombed the building? -
While I too dislike even the appearance of equating slavery to gay rights, the fact that you are championing 'states rights' which is implicit in your wanting the federal government not to be able to legislate such things as 'gay marriage' and the fact that 'states rights' has long been code for segregation, renders your arguments disingenuous - at the very least.
You can not argue that States should be allowed full reign to legislate - ignoring the Federal, while calling the Texas lege rules about oral/anal sex - an aberration and dismssing it as saying 'Its Texas afterall'. There are many States in this union that have minorities of all sorts that could be easily discriminated against - if the federal government could not supercede them. -
What exact part of Avery Fisher Hall is "Soviet Property"?

Yes let's nationalize healthcare during an "economic clusterfuck
by darth_inedible
And he's telling us that this is key to avoiding further disaster, as if having nationalized medicine saved any European country from the current clusterfuck. THIS is what I think a lot of people aren't buying into. Obama, while apparently serious about dealing with things is also clearly using the situation to further political ends which just stinks to high heaven and has the potential to backfire spectacularly.
-
Burying your head in the sand and ignoring problems that have long plagued this country is no way to lead. Taking the safe conservative approach and waiting for 'sunny days' does not solve anything. If you believe this economic crisis will not end for several more years - as most economists do, then waiting until those 'sunnier days' come, will mean he has squandered years. Precious years to start to effect change. No massive overhaul occurs overnight. It will take longer than any Obama administration 4 years or 8 years to see results of his more ambitious goals. But to hide behind the convenient excuse that we have too many problems now, would be a true failure of leadership. Being able to handle multiple crisis and issues and problems is what a true leader does best - in all circumstances, even those less than favorable . Yes, Obama may be over-reaching, I do not think so right now, but I can see others who might disagree. If he is, he will be gne in four years. If not...
-
I wasn't equating gay rights to slavery. I was commenting on how if we left big (arguably moral) decisions up to the "will of the people", slavery and segregation in its forms would most likely have continued to exist long after they really ended. The "will of the people" is not always the right thing- That was my point. Hence the references. Toadkillerdog made the rebuttal better than I.
-
Why exactly do you describe Avery Fisher Hall as "Soviet Property"?
What is you basis for describing the classical musicians in the Moscow State Symphony as "Soviet Scumbags"?
Why was Victor Vancier aka Chaim Ben Pesach, morally justified in firebombing a New York music theatre?
Is terrorism justifiable, in your opinion, against innocent civilians on US soil?
Did you cut and paste your "scientific facts" from an article in a Right Wing political magazine, American Spectator?
You need to answer these questions or hide your head in shame forever.

"what about medical marijuana laws? i haven't heard a peep out of conservatives on this issue."Peep.I feel the same way on this as I feel about most issues -- Let the market decide. When the (fascist) smoking ban laws were all the rage, I had the same feeling. These places will be for smokers while those are for non-smokers, the decisions of which corresponded with the wishes of the proprietor. Of course, pull the bullshit "license fee" crap and charge people for the privilege while enhancing revenue and controlling the percentage of variance. Yet this is still an easy metric to pull. Let's see which is the business that is most patronized! But, no. That would allow the troublesome freewill aspect that liberals often tend to struggle with. Better to corral the sheeple into the same pen through coercion by way of politic correctness and "health incentives."Besides, the medical marijuana law issue is such a non-issue. I feel the same way about the War On Drugs as you likely do about the War On Terror. Oh, wait...!!! I mean the Overseas Contingency Operation : http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2009/03/64606287/1Considering it's such an obvious states rights issue i thought they would have been all over it.This and many, many more things are obviously states rights issues. The election IS over. Now your boy Obama has to put his money where his mouth is, and face the music. So far so lame. Economists give him and his economic team an F
http://tinyurl.com/dexeznAs much as you don't like being reminded of his lack of qualifications, they matter more than anything now, especially with an economic downturn. That's what's so nuts about you Obama zombies, you put such blind faith in his ability to dazzle that you're betting the entire American economy on someone that's never run as much as a hotdog stand. And the best you can say in his defense is 'the election is over'. Well, given the way the stock market dips everytime he trots his treasury secretary out or says ANYTHING about the Economy, the election isn't the only thing that's over. How's your 401K,G100? You can bash Palin and Bush all you want, it doesn't add anything to Obama's resume. We're in a recession, and this is the worlds largest economy, and you've put all your chips in a basket full of holes by electing Mr Teleprompter. I'm waiting...how is he qualified again? Oh, I know..."the election is over." Good one. -
I don't support everything Obama is doing, but what do you suggest for these mountains of problems? Left to the Republicans, you would not have much of a 401K left, since massive bank and industry failures is their remedy. If you have workable solutions that don't entail tax cuts and letting industries fail, and exacerbating unemployment and housing probems, I'm all ears ... seriously, we need solutions, not finger-wagging.
-
and now it's retreating on the auto bailout. That's to be expected, and in fairness, Obama knew this would happen. The market is totally fickle, and driven by short-term profits. The smart investors are in for the long haul which is why you don't have a total collapse of the stock market, but fluctuations will occur during the different stages of the fix. Don't look to Wall Street for indicators of how Obama is doing. The proof will be in the employment and housing figures, 2010. Shit takes time.
-
Are you serious? Are you saying that States DON'T have the ability to make their own laws? And no, I don't think it's the federal government's business to create a NEW definition of marriage just to appease a minority that does NOT represent the will of the people. And don't dare NULLIFY the reality that states have the right to honor the will of their own constituents by equating that with 'segregation'. States rights is code for states rights, not for segregation. Nice semantic sleight of hand, but think about it, realistically. And give it the hypocrisy test: what if the shoe were on the other foot? What if your state legalized marijuana, but the other 49 states insisted that the federal government supercede that and invalidate YOUR vote? Works both ways.
-
My state wouldn't like it, but that's how the shoe drops.

Oh no you di'int.
-
No. I said nothing of the kind. I said "You can not argue that States should be allowed FULL REIGN to legislate - ignoring the Federal, while calling the Texas lege rules about oral/anal sex - an aberration and dismssing it as saying 'Its Texas afterall'." States have the right and the duty to follow the will of their constituents - up to a point. If that constituency, or the lege acting of their own accord, but purporting to be acting for the constituency, craft legislation, or demand legislation that is discriminatory, then yes the Federal can and must supercede.
Their are many ethnic and religious minorities in this country that could be discriminated against if the will of the people or the state lege were given unlimited reign. Just as an example, Utah, which is mostly conserative and Mormon, could pass laws that only Mormons can own property in certain areas - and covenants still exist. Texas and Georgia could re-institute sexual bans. Mississippi could re-introduce miscegnation laws. South Carolina could re-introduce poll taxes, or 'literacy tests' for voting. Ok, lets not even discuss what they could do (lets say we live in an enlightened era where no discrimination exists). Lets discuss what they have done that was struck down by a federal govevernment. Oh, wait a minute, that would be everything I just mentioned. States rights IS code for segregation and for discrimination. Has been since the late fifties. Is indeed a very well known concept. -
There's a fair number of laws that aren't challenged simply because the opposition does not want it to spread nationally. Or for an interpretation to be changed (for example, Separation of Church and State isn't in the Constitution, just like Separate But Equal wasn't ... it's possible that interpretation could fall by the wayside if challenged)

Yawn Teleprompter, blah, blah, Qualifications, whine, whine.. ya
by g100
What EXACTLY do you expect to happen because you and your right wing Lunatic Buddies are in a spittle flying Hysteria over "Qualifications" ???
There isn't going to be a "do over" nor is anyone going to escort Obama out of the White House because his resume isn't what Limbaugh or FOX News thinks it should be. So what is the POINT of all this amusing bullshit about Qualifications ? Seriously. Nobody gives a shit about months old talking points that we heard over and over and over and over again from the terminally desperate in the Campaign.
Obama is still popular in the teeth of a Recession. Those are the facts. You don't have to like them and they could change over time but it's exactly why at the moment the rampant right wing hysteria is so hilarious. Because no-one is paying it any serious attention other than for laughs.
As for the Wall Street Journal and the 49 Economists, you DO realise that almost every Economist and the Wall Street Journal were laughably unprepared for this catastrophe and all the Monday morning quarterbacking in the world won't change that ? To be fair the Journal does at least show how fallible they are---
The economists, many of whom have been continually surprised by the depth of the downturn, also pushed back yet again their forecasts for when a recovery would begin. On average, they expect the downturn to end in October. Last month, they said the bottom would arrive in August. They estimate that U.S. gross domestic product will continue to contract in the first half of this year, with slow growth returning in the third quarter.----
If you think this catastrophe will be turned around in a few weeks then you are even more deranged and partisan than it already appeared. People will pass judgement on Obama's handling on the Economy when they think he has been in place long enough to make a difference. But you can't wait for that so are ranting about Qualifications to absolutely no effect.
Though it has to be said all the rabid right wingers were extremely vocal trying to tell us all how the President actually had very little or no effect on the Economy when it blew apart on Bush's watch.
Myself, I like to keep informed on much of the Economic complexities by reading people like Nouriel Roubini, who has that most crucial of Qualifications in that he saw this whole clusterfuck coming in detail and long before almost anyone else.
Here's what he says about the latest moves by Giethner and the Obama Administration.
----Secretary Timothy Geithner's new toxic asset plan is a serious step in the right direction in that it creates a public-private partnership to buy the troubled assets of financial firms - in other words, to do the necessary cleansing. Up until now, with all the government bailouts, the financial system has been barely treading water. With this plan, it will still be a hard swim, but, at least, there is a path to shore.----
http://tinyurl.com/choajc
Finally a simple test for you if you can manage it ? Find me one quote where I have lavishly praised Obama or drop the hyperpartisan FOX News/Limbaugh horseshit about "Obama Zombies" and "blind faith" unless you enjoy being continually proved wrong ?
Oh and whatever the merits or lack of them of the current crisis and solutions I know for a stone cold FACT that there could be few things in the World more amusing than watching you're favourite "misunderstood genius" Palin trying to navigate her way through derivatives reform and Toxic assets.
-
Sincerely. It's what I used to search your TB handle for. That out of the way, the subtext is off more than you'd ever allow yourself to acknowledge.
-
You made excellent points, G. I think Obama is doing as well as anyone could in these circumstances. Thank cripes McCain and Palin are far from the White House.
-
G100 - that is very amusing.
-
If it works for your argument, but you should not nullify the rights of each state to honor their own constituents. You have too much faith in the federal government NOT to abuse it's power, and by dismissing 'state rights' by semantic fiat and equating it to segregation (as much as Federalists love to refer it as such since the fifties)is convenient justification for the government to over-reach. Just as states have a limit, of course, to the laws they legislate, the federal government should be limited in infringing upon the constituents. As for 'the hypocrisy test'--that's not a legal requirement here, of course. But it should be a personal filter when being passionately for or against something, if you really want to validate your point.
-
"States rights IS code for segregation and for discrimination. Has been since the late fifties. Is indeed a very well known concept. "Holy shit. (And I'm agnostic.) Wow. Just wow.Our system of government provides a check on the majority rule. Yes, despite you and the liberal efforts of your ilk, our system was created to avert mob rule.A major chunk of our republic stems from our federalist instinct. And you shat upon it all, broadbrush, in pursuit of your most immediate whim."This is how democracy dies. To the sound of thunderous applause."
-
"Obama is doing as well as anyone could in these circumstances. Thank cripes McCain and Palin are far from the White House."Yes, Obama is doing as well as anyone. Anyone, that is, providing anyone is defined as The World Population (TWP) minus 2 (McCain and Palin).Fuzzy Math redux (working in the French angle here).Wanna buy some wood?
-
You did not refute one point, not even one, of the abuses perpetrated by States who had little to no Federal oversight - prior to the Civil Rights act. And even subsequent to that. Abuses have and still do happen. You tried to obfuscate and bloviate, but not counter. States rights is a code - not because it is convenient, but because it is truth. Refute one point I made about the States who perpetrated such discrimination - and tell me that no such discrimination will ever happen again in States where there are minorities of every stripe. Tell me that (convincingly) and I will gladly accept that Staets should be allowed full and unrestrained rights to make whatever laws they deem applicable to and for their constituents. The Federal governemnet is not infallible, no one said it was, and there are checks and balances on it's power(such as constitutional ones - amendments requiring 2/3 of states to approve, not Fiats) but if not for the Federal government enacting laws to protect all of its citizens, not just the majority in a particular state, then where would we be now? Refute just one point I made above about the abuses of just those few states I named (there are many more) and the discrimination's they fostered, and I will drop my opposition to unrestricted States Rights. Just one point.
-
And why are you so angry? No, we don't expect a 'do-over' the way Al Gore pissed and moaned in 2000. Obama IS the president, he occupies the highest office in the country. Which is precisely WHY qualifications should concern you. But you continue to dismiss his lack thereof. Sure, he fulfills the basics: his citizenship, his age, it's all there. But he's so out of his league in dealing with an economy of ANY size--EVEN his own lefty apologists from the New York Times think so (Paul Begala, Paul Krugman, Maureen Dowd)--and they're even louder, more faithful Obama apologists than the average democrat voter! See, they are honest enough to acknowledge when their own guy is found wanting. I admire their honesty, and disagree with their politics. They're not partisan harpies like you are. And your 'bla bla bla whine whine' comment is the equivalent of a little kid putting her fingers in her ears and saying la la la la la when her parents are telling her to do her homework. It's apparent qualifications don't matter to you because you blow them off and would rather bash Palin. You won the White House, you control the Senate, you control the House...but you're still so angry. Liberals are like that, because even if you were the best looking guy on the planet and rich beyond the dreams of avarice, you'd STILL find a way to define yourself as the victim, or to blame Bush or Halliburton, or Palin for that matter. Why are you such sore winners? Why do you flinch when we point out the chinks in your Savior's armor and give a knee jerk bleating "Palin is stupid!" in response instead of actually explaining WHAT makes you confident in Obama's ability to manage an economy? And yeah, I did refer to Obama as "your boy Obama". What, are you going to regulate my speech now? I'm not even a white guy! My family comes from a mix of nations that harbor Al-qaeda! I'm sorry if that offended your oversensitive white-guilt ridden sensitivities.
-
The original issue with states having the right to make their own laws was the prop8 discussion, not the instances you brought up, which is why they were not addressed. We were talking about a minority wanting to redefine what the rest of the country refers to as marriage, NOT segregation...which is why YOUR bringing up 'states rights is code for segregation' is more of an obfuscation in this discussion. Don't make gay marriage AKIN to segregation, because it isn't. Gays aren't being lynched here, and they're NOT being refused BASIC rights that everyone else gets.
-
You remind of Darth Machio. I never understand what the fuck he is trying to say either because he tries - and mostly fails, to be witty. Say what you mean in plain English.
-
I never said states should have unrestrained rights to make their own laws, each basic US citizen has CONSTITUTIONAL rights that can't be infringed upon. Today's debate is whether or not'gay marriage' is a constitutional right guaranteed by the federal government. Marriage of ANY kind (straight, gay or poly) is NOT a guaranteed constitutional right...whereas segregation violates BASIC constitutional rights of life and liberty. You NEED to make the distinction there, or else using the gay marriage hyperbole loses it's merit. If California DOESN'T want to recognize gay marriage, it does NOT violate any kind of constitutional right does it? Where in the constitution is a 'right to marry'? Fine, it can be DEBATED that it falls under 'pursuit of happiness' or 'equal treatment under the law'. But again, as you mentioned, it would need to be clarified, perhaps by constitutional ammendment...UNTIL then, the Federal government can't step in and change California's law IN THIS particular instance. And SPECIFICALLY in the case of Prop 8, the California Supreme court CANNOT legislate, cannot overturn it without being interpreted as a violation of the separation of powers.
-
When an argument is lost - or you have run out of any defenses, claim that the point is being missed. Chickenshit, but standard.
Debates evolve, points are expanded, the introduction of States rights into the conversation and your initial defense of them, provided the opening for that expansion. However, that you have chosen a strategic retreat -while the ex-Marine in me finds it dubious, I shall nevertheless honor your wishes. -
But the Bauer Power Hour starts in 5 minutes. Later Comrades.
-
You proved my own point, it's not a retreat as much as you'd like it to be. But thank you for your service, honestly. We can debate all night, but you truly missed the original point, but trying to equate gay rights with the segregation argument. I acknowledge there are LIMITS to states rights, but there are limits to what the feds can and can't do. Don't give them more authority than they already have, that's scary. I've lived in third world dictatorships and had friends shot at for voicing dissent. You don't want to give government more power than it should have, trust me on that one.
-
I proved none of your points. You let the debate evolve with your defense of states rights, then when it became inconvenient for you to try and flog that horse, you do a 180 and say, 'hey that was not the point of the argument'. I did not bring up gays and slavery - that was D.Vader. Once again the evolving argument. That you decided to try and argue the evolved point - and failed, does not mean after you have lost the debating point you can then double back and claim it was never the 'point' to begin with. And third world? The U.S.A.? I know you did not say that, but it was implicit in your saying 'you don't want to give government more power...'
Well, I guess we did resemble a banana republic back in 2000 when the scion of a political dynasty won a heavily contested election because the state that was controlled by his brother gave him the decisive margin. Hey! -
Didn't think I needed to post any "You must have an IQ in the triples to ride" signs on my TB posts. Sorry. I'm sure one of your soft-bigotry friends here will step up and translate for you.
-
Like your last post. I understood that one. You see, if you insult someone, and they and no one else but you realizes that you have just done so, is it really an insult? Or are you just self-pleasuring?
-
Because it's crystal clear from where I'm standing who is on the verge of hysteria and whining continually about Qualifications and Teleprompters like a demented Partisan parrot on the shoulders of Limbaugh and Fox News.
As for handling Milions or even Billions of Dollars, the Derivatives Traders at AIG handled TRILLIONS. Think that makes any of them fully qualified to be President ? Or do you think that even qualifies them their disgusting Bonus ? Take your time that IS a tough one I know.
And you really are letting your right wing blogger talking points run away with you now. Point me to where I have even MENTIONED Halliburton ? Come on ? You can use a search if your brain can't handle the complex mechanics of word finding.
I'll wait for you to do so don't worry.
Palin IS stupid. I'm sorry if pointing out the obvious makes you want to cry but since you are incapabable of assimilating something unless repeated I'll have to explain again. It is not just me or the Dems who thought she was stupid and an idiotic choice for VEEP it was some very senior members of the GOP itself who said as much.
Now pay attention her as this bit is crucial, PALIN WAS A GAMBLE. She always was a desperate throw of the Dice for McCain and the fact of the matter was it failed. She couldn't hack it. Wasn't up to it and slowly imploded losing votes with every word she was allowed to utter on TV. Speaking to Katie Couric REALLY isn't fucking Rocket Science.
But after she imploded she became the most visible example of "victim culture" there is. It was all the Media !!! Couric confused me with all those words and questions !!! Wahhh wahhh fucking waaahhhhhhh. Pathetic. But her OWN words are again most apt here.---
"When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or, you know, maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country. I don’t think it’s, it bodes well for her -- a statement like that."
Someone should tattoo that onto her skull every time she whines about the "liberal media."
And BTW what the FUCK are you babbling about with "your boy Obama" ????????? Have you had a blow to the head ? I advise you to get some rest as you really are sounding dangerously unhinged now. -
Yet, Toad, you use that as an excuse to "obfuscate" the original point. In bringing up Utah, South Carolina, pre-civil rights, you ignore the original point: prop8, gay rights, which was a RESPONSE to D Vader. You make my point everytime you regurgitate that "states rights is code for segregation". Your repeating it is code to grant over-arching power to the federal government. As for third world dictatorship, I was referring to the Philippines in the 70's and 80's under Marcos. In college I was part of a student movement that opposed the Marcos regime...the leader of our organization, who was also the student body president, a gentleman by the name of Leandro Alejandro was murdered by the government for voicing his opinion. A guy dating my sister was shot in the spine during one of the marches I was a part of. I joined an elections watchdog group called NAMFREL, where we sat on ballot boxes, only to be pistol whipped by the military when they came in to steal the ballot boxes we sat on and replace them with pre-filled ballot boxes. I've seen and lived through government tyranny, and I've seen people I know jailed and shot at for voicing dissent...yet you have so much faith in a government that can supercede states rights with the power of the military behind them. Your idealism is admirable, but you underestimate the draw of absolute power when backed by creative twistings of the law, ESPECIALLY when it hides behind the pretense of 'protecting the minority'. Don't fall for it--at the very least, be critical of it.You assume that constituencies of states are too stupid to think for themselves they need the Federal government to correct their thinking for them, as they choose who's considered a minority, or as they redefine the constitution. It's even scarier when a self-righteous federal government BELIEVES they are championing the little guy, whereas they are only catering to a special interest lobby, and railroading the rights of individual citizens in the process. Hey man, it's up to you if you'd rather have the bureaucrats in DC overturn what your fellow citizens in YOUR state decide through democratic processes, or leave it up to the Supreme court. That sets a dangerous precedent--you'll think it's a great idea if the make up of the Supreme Court leans toward your political bent, but it could easily go the other way if they leaned to the right. The only guarantee that either political side doesn't get screwed by unelectted judges, is to preserve the separation of powers. That's what we're talking about here really--when you insist that 'states rights is code for segregation'--you cover for judicial tyranny, or judges that legislate from the bench.OK. How's THAT for an evolving debate?
-
The US is my adoptive country. I love the freedom of speech we have here, as seen on these talkbacks. You'll understand my passion in my statements because I've seen tyranny up close. I lived under martial law where we had to have our bags checked just to walk into a movie theater or mall. The newspapers and TV stations were owned by the government. And yes, people I know died and suffered under it. I see a soft, accomodating mindset among the youngsters here in this country, the self-appointed intelligensia, that is ripe for an over-arching federal government. I'm not saying it's going to be martial law, or a third world country...but they resemble the 'useful idiots' that make socialism so easily acceptable, even though it's a system that doesn't work. It won't be Siberia, it might be socialism-lite. Either way, it will suck. I'm just sounding the alarm, because I've seen what happens when governments take over the private sector, or supercede the will of individual citizens in the name of 'championing the little guy'. Call me names, call me alarmist, I don't care. I've experienced worse in real life from people I've encountered face to face. It's pretty limp when it comes from anonymous people on a movie website.

2016 may be the very same time we'll see Obama's actual birth records proving his citizenship. The same year we'll see JOhn KErry's completed Form 180, no doubt.

RowdyBraneBalls said on Mar. 29:
"As for Chaim Ben Pesach, he was bombing SOVIET property and SOVIET scumbags in America. "
BringingSexyBack then pointed out that this was domestic terrorism.
RowdyBraneBalls explicitly said it was "morally justified".
As you probably know, Victor Vancier (aka Chaim Ben Pesach) firebombed theAvery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center on the day the members of the Moscow State Symphony were due to perform. Judge Glassner, sentencing him to 10 years, correctly described those musicians and other people endangered as "innocent people".
During sentencing, Vancier grovelled for mercy and said "'I have no justification for what I did''. He begged for a new chance to build a constructive life. Of course, he had said these things earlier when he was convicted of racketeering. His lawyer helpfully described him as "nuts" and "an empty shell".
Sounds just like RowdyBraneBalls. May even be the same person.
