ScoreKeeper here whipping out my .44 Magnum while some punk tries to swipe my new soundtrack CD for the fifth and final Dirty Harry film, THE DEAD POOL (1988) [HERE], which is autographed by composer Lalo Schifrin. Yeah, well…you know the routine. You got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well, do ya, punk? Because I’ve actually got five more copies that I’m giving away to worthy Ain’t It Cool News readers who think they’ve got what it takes to earn one for themselves. So, what do you have to do? In the last several years we’ve seen a resurgence of aging cinematic heroes making their return to the big screen. From Rocky Balboa, to John Rambo, to Indiana Jones, these iconic characters have demonstrated the sun still shines as bright well into the twilight years. So, what about “Dirty” Harry Callahan? What if he were to return to the big screen with a new prescription for pain of his own? Could the calm, cool, and collected Callahan open a can of whoop-ass on unsuspecting street thugs as affectively today as he did in the 1970s and 80s? Your task is to pitch a sixth Dirty Harry movie with Clint Eastwood returning to the role of the indefatigable “Dirty” Harry Callahan. Write an brief pitch (roughly 250 words or so) outlining a plot that would bring Dirty Harry out of retirement and back on the streets of San Francisco. What’s the new title for the film? What’s the basic plot outline? Who are the costars? Who should direct it? Who would you get to score it? These are but a few of the questions you must ask yourself. Be as comprehensive as possible.
