A new trailer for the ASTRO BOY CGI feature has been revealed. This is from Imagi (the company which brought us the CGI TMNT movie) and director David Bowers (FLUSHED AWAY). It'll be in theaters in October.

Let's see. Take a classic creation from the God of Manga, add "'tude", make the character designs bland so that they look like every other bad CG movie out there... Aw hell. I give up. This isn't Astro Boy. Stick to the anime series' from the 1960s and the 1980s. Tezuka's beret must be spinning off his skull.

Wow, didn't know what to expect, but this looks really nice. The designs are very close to Tezuka's, and the personality of the little robot boy really comes through. I'm looking forward to this. The "Father of Manga" deserves to have his most famous character fully realized. Reportedly, he wasn't a fan of CGI (he hated TRON), but it's come leaps and bounds since then. I think he'd like this. Plus, robots just come off better in CGI than in 2D (Iron Giant notwithstanding).

I didn't call Merrick any names or insult him in any way. And yet he deletes everyone's post in which they said his facts were incorrect. Not only that, but every post from EVERY OTHER TALKBACK that day was deleted. And for what reason? Was it really because we pointed out his error? Its so damn juvenile.

A video whore slowly attempting to first fool it’s home base into blind acceptance. So yeah, today, you’re more important to Hulu monster. I only fear of tomorrow, when they do eventually try to shove this thing to the rest of the world.

Merrick put up an article with a link to an audio interview about Brian Tyler. In the article, Merrick posted some tidbits regarding Tyler's thoughts on the upcoming "Battle for Los Angeles" alien invasion film. Then, Merrick went on to talk about the most recent Star Trek Trailer (trailer 3) and about how the awesome music in it got a lot of geeks pumped up and excited. He went on to say the music was a reworked theme of Brian Tyler's from "Children of Dune", and says that Tyler mentions the producers temp-tracked "Star Trek" with his "Dune" score, then took a track and reorchestrated it for the Trek trailer. Merrick then says that since the producers temp-tracked the film, temp-tracked the trailer, and reorchetrated said tracks for the trailer with Tyler's music, that perhaps it was a bit stupid of them to hire Giacchino to do the original score instead of Tyler. The problem is, Merrick was wrong. The awesome music in the Trek Trailer 3 was NOT Brian Tyler. It was obviously new music riffing on the theme from Batman Begins. Well about 5 pple, myself included, pointed this out in the Talkback. Some other posters gave the correct information about who was responsible for the Trailer 3 music. I posted a link to a site that had embeds of the Trailer 3 music as well as the Trailer 2 music- which is what Tyler's "Dune" score was used in. A bit later, that story was suddenly taken down instead of just "updated". Later, it popped up with that message saying it would be "updated soon" and that the TB was closed. But if you looked at the TB, EVERY post in which someone mentioned Merrick made a mistake, or which gave the correct information about the story, had been DELETED. Not only that, but those posters (myself included) had their ENTIRE history of posts on talkbacks deleted. That story remained up on this site with that "updating soon" BS message for (Im guessing) 12 hours before it was finally yanked outright. So why? Why was this deleteD? Why were posts deleted? Im guessing its because Merrick in unable to admit when he's made a mistake, unlike other editors on this site. Instead of just updating with apologies and correct information, like others would do, he deleted the whole story. Then brought it partially back, and deleted all evidence that he had ever provided factually incorrect evidence (our posts). Which is a scummy thing to do. Just admit you made a mistake. Don't punish talkbackers who were able to do what you couldn't- provide AICN readership with correct information. And on top of all that, his link to the interview didn't work either.

Yes yes, I know all of that. I know that War Begins was re-orchestrated by two steps from hell for trailer 2. i know that an altered version of two steps from hell's freedom fighters was used in trailer 3. i know this because i was personally involved in the making of both trailers. I'm surprised Merrick made the mistake of confusing trailers 2 and 3, and i'm surprised that Brian Tyler didn't correct him. What I was more concerned with was if JJ did actually scrapped Giacchino's score and choose Tyler to do a new score in 2 months.

If my entire post history got deleted for something other than blatant trolling or offensive language, I'd be pretty pissed too. This is supposed to be a community, right? (Granted, one in which everyone is a complete ass to each other...but still a family, douchebags or not)...and the post history is like your character's personality...your body of work. Sucks D.Vader. Anyway, I know nothing about Astroboy or japanamation (or whatever) but I have really been getting into the Syfy Monday night line up of anime shows. My first real delving into the genre, (aside from Big-O and Cowboy Bebop). Anyone seen this? Or maybe could point me in the right direction if I want to get into anime more? I'd prefer to stay away from the kiddy stuff though.

...I was watching my neighbors 9-year old son last night while she went to a PTA meeting and that commercial came on. When she came to pick him up, he kept repeating (the way 9-year olds do). "Put it inside me, Dave" (my real name is Dave, which really sucked), and I had to explain it to her. Luckily she saw the commercial later that night and we had a good laugh about it, but I agree it is really out there. In fact, I e-mailed Quizno's with the above story in hopes of receiving some freebies. (fingers crossed!)

I suggest that you ask for coupons for sandwiches, and not just any "freebies". Because I suspect that late one night, while you are resting soundly from a long day of hanging out with a family of douchebags (spot on assesment, mate) a randy sandwich oven will be found hovering over your prone body, eyeing your porceline skin and preparing to give you a freebie toasting. NOT fun. If you do go in for a free sammich keep your eyes on that oven.

Its definitely BS. I don't think Soylent Mean had his posts deleted. But browncoatjedi and some others (whose names I don't recall) had their posts deleted. And everyone was nice and civil. Their only crime was pointing out the truth. Or, what seems like the truth at the moment. Guess we'll find out the real story (behind which composer composed which song) soon.

Not to harp on it...but I saw Merrick's communication to you about this on the Watchmen music post, and something seems a little off about the whole thing. I wonder if maybe AICN inadverdantly provoked a copy right scuffle between the two parties, and someone just panicked and pulled the plug on the entire article, not realizing it would totally fuck you and others who have been regular readers. Oh well, we'll see soon enough I'm sure.

Maybe that's the dramatist in me, but it looks like the story has created a minor shitstorm behind the scenes because of, as you said, copyright protection. I can't wait to see how it plays out. Though that still doesn't explain why we had our histories deleted. I don't think the only way to delete a comment is to outright delete the handle's entire history, is it? Even so, what we said didn't deserve a history deletion. But I'm still looking forward to hearing what happens. Tyler's got his statement prepared, apparently. We're just waiting to hear from the company that reworked his music.
