Hercules Loves Monday’s Bryan Fuller-Scripted HEROES And Says It’s The Series’ Best Episode Since COMPANY MAN!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
At least for one night, “Heroes” is great again!
“Dead Like Me”-“Wonderfalls”-“Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller, who wrote the two best episodes of “Heroes’” first season, returns after a two-year break to script Monday’s installment, and it’s a whopper.
As the title implies, it’s a major episode for ice girl Tracy Strauss. It’s the best Matt Parkman episode to date. We get to see a very different side of Angela Petrelli (thanks in large part to Fuller’s fellow “Daisies” refugee Swoozie Kurtz). And geek bachelors Hiro and Ando are dryly hilarious as they find themselves unexpectedly charged with the care of a toddler.
A bunch of huge things happen, including the resolution of the Rebel mystery. Hint: Rebel’s not Angela!
Record “24.” This is one “Heroes” you don’t want to wait for.
9 p.m. Monday. NBC.

It's hilarious that Tim Kring is almost never mentioned in the headlines.
-
The fact that there can be an episode where Parkman and any of the Ali Larter characters can be interesting has me very curious.
Hopefully the complete unsucking can begin tonight as far as Heroes is concerned. -
I think being able to stop time would have made raising a toddler a lot easier.
'Don't touch that plant'
SWISH
'what plant daddy?' -
keep it up
-
but this show is dead to me.DEAD!
-
Much more likely to be Micah.
-
Simply because there's no possible way a reviewer (especially a cynical one) could "love" an episode in which Micah, one of the show's all-time annoying characters and someone nobody wants to see back, is revealed as Rebel.
-
but I haven't watched beyond the first three episodes of this so-far godforsaken season. Could I download this episode cold and still have the faintest idea what's going on?
-
Series-low ratings in household viewers and the 18-49 demo almost every week show that people have moved on. They've rejected the Fugitives arc. There's just too much water over the bridge.
-
As a wannabe writer and fan of Heroes since season 1, I'm of the belief that continuous bad writing (season 2 and 3 for example) shouldn't be rewarded with an audience, so I quit watching this show 4 episodes into season 3. But it looks like I'll have to give it a go again tonight.
-
Micah. Just google for the finale-wrap party pics. He's there.
I hope it's only for one episode. -
I don't know if that's confirmation, imdb only has him in the finale, so unless it's an off screen reveal (and that would be an ass way out), Rebel isn't Micah. (I hope Fuller doesn't just wrap it up by saying, oh, Rebel - yeah that's that Micah character we haven't seen in like 12 episodes)
-
He's there. You have to really look.
-
You lost me there
-
Worst character in the show full stop. Yes, even worse than DL or the 619 chick.
Just give PP back his whole power set and have him & Sylar go at it. -
Yeah, that's never been done before on TV or in a movie...
-
Can't wrap my head around Heroes being good. It's like Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey making a quality movie. It's like George Bush or Obama making an intelligent decision. Does not compute, my friends, does not compute.

Herc is a retard; Doesn't mean you should avoid the show..
by champvinyl
... at least not proactively. The show could turn around very quickly (I'm not someone who thinks it was ever backwards... but whatever). It wouldn't take much creative writing to sew things up and create a decent story, hopefully the writers are up for it.
-
I mean, Company Man is the stuff of legend, but IMDB says the other was Collision - and that was pretty dull. Hell, the finale was better than that.
-
Told you so. You're all a bunch of sheep. You all hated heroes just because it was popular to do so. You thought it made you cool. Meanwhile most of this arc has been fucking awesome. Welcome back bitches.
-
Ever. This show has been awful from the beginning, despite the bewildered herds insistence that the first season wasn't mindless drivel for the masses. This show is so broad that they dumb it down for the lowest common denominator. I used to hate-watch it, now I just hate it. It went from being laughably bad to just abysmal. One writer can not save a terrible show.
-
Can I jump in now having not watched the entire season? I'll give it a 2nd chance, because I'm a nice person.
-
Any? Any at all? I mean, if that's it... worst - mystery - ever.
-
it's like saying tonight is the best night to step in a pile of dog shite. it's over as any type of pleasurable experience. this show needs to be buried and anyone involved with it should be banned for 2 years from working on tv.
-
Why jump in now - not having seen the rest of the season? That'd be like reading the first and second lord of the rings books, stopping, and then picking up the third book and flipping to the middle. Yeah, you may kinda understand what's going on because you know the characters and powers....but you'd be missing out on a lot. This season/volume has been very good and pretty different from past seasons
-
I agree with aarondias that is it funny Kring never gets a positive mention for his own show - the guy gets no respect.
However, this lack of respect is fully justified. -
heroes is getting the dvr treatment
-
I'm sure tonight's episode will be good but it won't make up for a truly lackluster season. I fear "Heroes" is pretty much dead in the water.
-
Ok so now that Fuller is on board it's all butterscotch waterfalls and unicorn farts? You're getting extremely predictable, Herc. Heroes has been a decent show this season and while I'm sure it's a good episode tonight, kissing Fuller's ass yet again isn't going to make me enjoy it more.
-
both of these stray season to season from the original plots. Then they have to create new plots allowing us to forget about previous plot holes which have NEVER been dealt with.
Both seem to use disposable characters which are never seen again. Either they disappear or go all red shirt.
That does not mean they aren't entertaining, just inconsistent plotting.
Finally when will Heroes reveal Mr. Muggles immortality. He did eat Claire's finger. Unless the finger grew a new Claire who will be popping up any second now. -
Im guessing you still dont watch lost?
Lost has been tying up all the plot points rather nicely. Just slowly getting there -
And by weeks, I mean when Claire's mom was burning all the oxygen in a container, and she was breathing perfectly fine while Claire was suffocating. Not exactly a shining example of logic.
If this episode is really the greatest thing since "Company Man," I may consider watching it. . .but I'm sure as hell not missing 24 for this. 24 has consistently been all kinds of awesome recently. Hell, they even had a Bauer kill that TOPPED the Fayed chain/Rolento kill. . .and I never thought that would happen, ever. -
I'll record it...I mean I'm the guy that still records Smallville faithfully. If Sub-Zero makes a reveal tonight as Ali's long lost father that'd be neato finito!! WOOT maybe we can get a two'fer and he'd be Rebel!!
Sub-Zero wins...flawless victory...FATALITY! -
As for "Jim Carrey" and "quality movie" being mutually exclusive, I don't think that's entirely true. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is actually a relatively serious romance-driven drama that's very well done. Jim Carrey was actually quite decent in that movie.
-
has been better than Heroes, Lost, or 24 this season...where's its talkback?
-
Hanah Gittleman...the chick who communicates through wireless signals and showed up at a shack in the middle of nowhere to send Ted (Radioactive Man!) back into the fray during Season 1. She also appeared in a couple of the flash-forward episodes where she was working with HRG to help people with powers escape the gov. So we're headed toward some future fulfillment at the end of this season.
And for those dissing Micah: not at all a lame character/power in this day and age. I wouldn't be surprised to see Micah and Hannah teaming up at some point. Of course, if Peter could get ahold of both their powers he could remotely control any computer system from a tremendous distance. Pretty handy. -
As long as he isn't distracted by someone jumping rope.
-
Never forget! ;)
-
You'd need a big chunk of clumsy exposition (which, let's face it, isn't exactly unthinkable on Heroes) just to remind viewers who she even is. Rebel needs to be an instant recognition/"Oh shit!" reveal.
-
It will have to be REALLY good for it to top the most recent episode, it's now my favorite episode of the series.
-
Maya.
-
Sorry. I'm done with Heroes. DONE. I don't care who writes it.
-
As I do every week. I simply have no urgency to watch Heroes when it airs. As for Hannah Gitelman, seems like I saw someone in a forum or talkback say that she died in the graphic novel. I'm not sure if this is accurate as I haven't been keeping up with those, and I'm not sure if they're really cannon to the show anyway... so whatever.
-
Ah and oldy but a goody.
-
Isn't that what Herc is implying?
-
back in season one.
-
Is Hiro still useless and making poop jokes? Who's the villian now? Is it: Nathan, Sylar or Peter? Since those three are constantly trading roles for no reason whatsoever. It's always that one thinks he's good but is bad, one thinks he's bad but is good, and the other is usually carrying the idiot ball and dragging the plot to accommodate whatever bizarre character interactions occur that never make a lick of sense. Mehh, just thinking about this show reminds me how good it COULD be and how bad it actually IS. I might watch this on Hulu while I also do something really distracting. It seems to be the way they write it, anyway...
-
Yes, on all counts.
-
I must have missed that but in my defense I was heavily sedated during a lot of the first season.
-
C'mon Hec I need to talk about Renee Walker's Juggs.
-
Stripper Hulk's kid, Duh.
-
suprised it hasnt been canceled yet
-
Will I be completely lost if I tuned in tonight?
-
If Rebel indeed is....Maya...

The "Fugitives" arc is an improvement, but still not back to S1
by spyguy
Too bad Christopher Eccleston is off playing Destro. I'd love to see him return as Claude.
-
But I'm not sure I'll stay with the show for the remainder of the season. One man can make a difference but there's an awful lot of Kring's mess for one man to fix. I'll be back for season 4 though (assuming Fuller's given complete control from the start and there's no hint of Kring).
-
Considering how they never REALLY explained her existence in S1 I don't know that it would require much clumsy exposition. That would be the case only if she was being re-introduced but I don't think we ever even got her name in the actual show, only through the online comics. And since none of our living Heroes has ever seen her or met her then introducing her is no different than any other new character.
Totally going to be Hannah. But unlike some people, I like Micah and I hope he shows up at some point too. -
10 FOR X = 1 to 1000000 20 SNL 30 LOST 40 HEROES 50 LOST 60 NEXT X
-
Because there's no point getting attached a show that probably won't be around after the summer solstice.
-
Overall the episode was better than just about anything since Season 1. However, I will have to say the last 10-15 minutes were quite excruciating to watch, especially the stuff with Tracy Freezing a whole parking garage, turning into solid ice, being shot to peices T-1000 style, and then the broken piece of her face being complete enough to give the camera a wink.... ugghhhhhhhhhh!!!!! And the bit at the end with Matt/Daphne, while touching and sweet, was a little to cornball to be taken seriously
But I will say there are plenty of improvements (mostly due to a complete lack of Sylar, Nathan and Claire), Baby touch-and-go is classic Hero/Ando fun and a Vulnerable Angela is q good change to the ambiguous good/evil millionaire bit.
Still a lot of cringe inducing moments but also a little better than anything in the last two volumes. -
Never thought of that. Granted, I have been in a coma the last few months and was pretty slow witted to begin with, but what a shocking out of left field reveal if it happens. How could anyone see that one coming.
In all seriousness, when they actually reveal Micah as Rebel, I wonder how they are going to make up for the incredible insult on all of our intelligence to act like no one could figure out this "mystery". I guess Micah's hot cousin returning with him in a skimpy superhero outfit would be a start. -
it's great fuller's coming back and all (i'm still crushed about pushing daisies), but all this constant sack-sucking over the past few weeks on this site is starting to get wicked annoying. have some self-respect man.
-
just stop... anyone involved with this show whatsoever should stop immediately, they're hurting themselves and it's just sad to watch.
-
Main problem for the show, for me, is something from day one...creating characters with too much power, like PP & Sylar. You end up saying gee, why dont they just do this instead. It makes everything else too unbelievable. Every character has to have some vulnerability.
-
I love comic books, thought that season one of this show was awesome, that season two was a turd, and that the first half of season three was somewhere in-between. I haven't watched any episodes since the show came back from its Christmas break (I have them all, though). Should I spend the time getting caught back up, or instead just write off the show?
-
Mr Muggles
-
I think Micah is a pretty good guess, and would love for it to be the Invisible Man as someone else pointed out (damn GI Joe movie). My other guesses:
1. Claire's Firemom...if Sylar survived, why not her?
2. Daphne - she could have sensed the danger and faked her own death on superspeed. Meh. Questionable.
3. Another Ali Larter...maybe the one who supposedly died in the fire (Micah's mom).
4. A character who's reveal will be completely unsatisfying.
-
Especially since the episode where he meets his father, "The Nightmare Man" and it's hinted that Parkman might actually have potential to be one of the most powerful characters on the show. It would be nice if they were to actually tap into that potential and give him something interesting to do with it. But then, I haven't watched regularly since late in Season 2, and I heard Season 3 got even worse. I'd love to see Fuller somehow save this show, but at this point it might be too far gone in viewers' eyes. I wish they'd just buy out Ali Larter's contract and move the fuck on...
-
I will never give up on this show. that's loyalty folks. I never gave up on WEst Wing when Sorking left, and then he came back...sort of...eventually. Fuller will restore this show to it's original high gloss shine!also, even if not, we still have Breaking Bad...
-
So I got high hopes.
-
Watch... just watch.
-
and that is all

I knew it was micah from before they even started this arc...
by thecomedian
At the end of Villains when Nathan is ratting out the rest of the heroes to President Worf they cut to a close up of all their files. And the shot holds on a picture of Micah and his file longer than anyone elses. So it was pretty easy to piece together that he would be playing a major role in Fugitives.
-
it was pretty good hopefully they can keep it up
-
I've been waiting for a decent episode all season.
-
:) Hey, Wonka; if 24 wasn't as good as it's been, I might slightly consider watching this, but I guess old grudges die hard.
-
signing fuller to a long term even the shows he makes that dont survive are better than 99 percent of the shit that is on tv today next move is to oust kring and put fuller in the show runner seat, and allow him to provide a set date for a series ending next, fuller needs to fire almost every writing hack that kring put on staff...and that includes the guys who work for dc writing shit like supes lost was smart and only hired people who had original writing on their resumes next, give beeman the second in command next to fuller...out of everyone left from the original regime, he is the only one with his head screwed on tight last, but not least....no more injokes about geeks and/or comic shops...making fun of the industry that allows you to exist is not a very smart thing to do
-
How are some of you watching it before it comes on :) ?
-
im sure they sent this one out to all the media outlets in order to drum up interest thank god for delivery boy wage slaves with dvd burners
-
than we do?
-
I'll jump in again for the next series I think, but I'm not going to waste my time trying to catch up on what appears to be a load of crap season.
-
Are we supposed to be surprised that the person who has been manipulating computers is the kid from earlier in the series who could manipulate computers?
-
in this one episode than there has been for 2 years. It's a wonder what starting out with a decent script can do. Yay Fuller!
-
Yeah, it's on at 6pm.
-
Same lameness
-
It was on at 7 Eastern on the New Brunswick Global channel.. good ol timeshifting
-
BUZZZ!!! Wrongo, that's the one group of losers that need the shit continually kick out of them.
-
NOW COMMENCE FURTHER RIPPING OFF OF OTHER SUPER HERO STORIES GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOOOOO
-
If you watched Heroes instead, I feel sorry for ya...
-
That fucking sucks. I think I was the only person who actually liked her. I did think it was odd that there was no wound on her neck when she came to earlier in the episode.
-
THAT DUDE JUST FIXED THIS MESS OF A SHOW IN 1 EPISODE! INCREDIBLE EPISODE!
-
Guess it was Fuller's show after all. Wow.
-
why Hiro is *still* the comic relief on this show. They had a perfect opportunity to turn him into a bad-ass, paranoid, time-jumping samurai (a la future Hiro) and completely squandered that opportunity. Also, why the hell is Hiro still speaking broken English, while Ando's English is pretty much perfect? They've been on the show for the same amount of time! BLAH!
-
Seriously, you have Parkman, Mohinder, Claire, Hiro (he constantly ruins the show whenever he's on screen, fanboys need to stop riding his jock, stupid fucking character), Nathan, Sylar, Peter, the list goes on and on... These characters are fucking offensive, not to mention the actors who play them are TERRIBLE. So lets kill off Elle and Tracey... that makes sense? What female characters are left? Claire? Puhlease! If I hear her whine about daddy one more time I'm going to puke. This show is hopeless at this point. And to anyone who thinks Fuller is saving this show, it's obvious by this episode that it's not possible. Kill off the entire cast and reboot.
-
Ali Larter isn't gone by any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately.
-
Character motivations made sense. People spoke like adults. They actually used special effects for the first time in about 2 seasons. The dream conversation between Matt and Daphne about the joke of a relationship was a great FU to the writers that fucked up the show. Nonchalantly revealing Rebel as the "of course" moment was good as well. Mama Petrelli buying time hoping one of her sons will show up and save her...genius. Ando and Hiro having that fun but awesome rapport. Hiro getting his powers back in a limited and controllable fashion in a Lonewolf and cub kind of way...fuck. Nice to have you back, Fuller.
-
Damn you WonkaDamn you PennsyWow...that does rank up with company man, doesn't it.I can't believe those responsible actually put out four good ep.s in a row.I think I may need to go back and watch Pushing Daisies...was that all Fuller?
-
Seriously, all the characters you mentioned are the show, if you hate those people you might wanna just stop watching...
-
That is the triumvirate of TV writing. It's amazing how apparent it was that this was a Fuller script within the first couple of minutes of the episode compared to the unbelievable crap Heroes has been churning out. All of the other writers in the room should commit Seppuku for being undeniable hacks, starting with Kring.
-
Daphne's gone; 4 months too late, but enough with her. She and Matt were completely unconvincing as a couple in the Villains arc, and her declaration of love for him in It's Coming was one of the most cringe-inducing moments of that arc.
-
I'd rank him way ahead of Fuller.
-
that Abrams made to Lost. Fuller for the win.
-
Ummmmmmmm.... Abrams had Felicity, Lost, Alias and Fringe, which is finally coming into it's own. I think not.
-
I don't get why you all know Hiro is awful, but at the same time you all still love Hurley.
-
Shattered? Yeah. Dead? No.
Re-rewind your DVR. Her shattered face blinked. Fuller is ripping a page out of Iceman 101. Iceman has been shattered a couple of times only to reform himself and come back. No need for Ali Later to become Barbara just yet. She'll probably pop up in the season finale as a more powerful Tracy. -
Mar 23, 2009 10:09:17 PM CDT
Looks like they really did fix Hiro's ability
by spifftacular squirrel girl
I'm guessing that he's just down to stopping time instead of traveling through time. Plus, seeing him wheelbarrel Ando was pretty funny.
I thought it was a solid episode with lots of really neat moments overall. -
You beat me to it rsanta74. I noticed that too. During Age of Apocalypse and when Emma Frost took control of his mind, Iceman was damn near unstoppable. He had full control of his molecular structure when he was ice.
-
24 is back in top form, miles ahead of HEROES. HEROES is continuing to show improvement, however. Tracy, Matt and Mohinder's escape from the military compound was pretty exciting, and the scenes with Hiro and Ando were a lot more palatable.Seeing Ali Larter's character get killed off (yet again!) only makes me reflect again on how unfortunate it was that they killed off her Nikki/Jessica character last season, Nikki/Jessica being the most bizarrely entertaining character they had.
-
Hiro spoke virtually no english before he started on his adventures, Ando has always spoken very good English. Hiro only know what he's learned while the show has been running.note: the actor playing Hiro speaks perfect english, as does Ando.
-
good reminder why high paid writers are HIGH PAID, boys! They be good at their work! Give 'em money!
-
I did get the idea this episode was a true "unsucking"... like they pulled Heroes up into Jiffy Lube... started an oil change... and the regional manager came around... "hey boys, clean this mess up! HERE'S how you run a REAL TV show!"
Sad to say, it will spring right back to badness. -
tonight's episode was as predictable as any other episode. like we didn't figure out micah was rebel since the beginning? fuller's only good heroes episode was "company man." i would've liked to see more pushing daisies episodes than this crap on heroes.
-

I don't think Rebel/Micah was Fuller's fault
by spifftacular squirrel girl
That little plot point was started well before he came on and I don't think he had much of a choice to make it anyone else.

duh, using Felicity and 90% of Alias in a debate about quality t
by pollaxt
kinda makes my point for me.
I'll wait for Fringe to finish their season to make a proper judgment. I may be biased against Abrams for causing irreparable pain with his Superman script. -
on making Sylar a true villain again.
-
Better than the crap they were putting on before it.
-
24 is still priority, though. 'Baby Genesis Device' was pretty fucking funny and Daphne's exit was Parkman's shining moment in the whole series to date. Still a lot of shit to clean up though, and at this point, I'd barely notice if they cancelled this. It was nice to see some actual (gasp) FOCUS, rather than continually trying to shoehorn every cast memember into the episode. Just something that simple allows the narrative to breathe so much more.
-
...and I predict that he will be killed soon - because the character is tiresome and was never very interesting to begin with - I think that he should be killed by Noah Bennet. Danko needs to be killed by someone with no superpowers. And Bennet needs to reassert himself as a cold-blooded badass. I WANT TO SEE BENNET PUT DANKO IN HIS PLACE!
-
he knew people were suspecting it, and he knew it would have to be revealed. but since it was not going to be a huge surprise, he gave us Micah as Rebel halfway through the show, so we got to actually see him in action for the rest of it. showing him saying "I'm Rebel" at the end of an episode, as though it were a huge reveal, was the kind of thing they were doing before Fuller came back. this was much better. as soon as things like ATM's started talking, it was obvious it was Micah, and so he didn't pretend it wasn't for more than 45 seconds or so. good stuff.I have to say, I might be an idiot, but I did NOT see the Daphne/Parkman dream sequence as a dream until she said it. I was totally in it to win it. that really got me. I've been on board the whole time, even as Heroes faltered, but god damn, if you're not back on board after that episode, you never really were on board.Fuller for the win!!
-
Everyone in this episode used their powers in smart ways! In the past, there would be plenty of ways they could get out of trouble with their powers, but they wouldn't use em. But here we've got Angela using her power(!), Parkman went all Jedi, Rebel showed how much of a badass he was (last we saw he had to touch an ATM to get it to work), even Ando got to do *something*. And of course the cold snap with possibly a future return (it was a wink, BTW, not a blink).
-
They need to step back from that character and rethink how to make her role on the show interesting again. I truly hope they lose her aqua-boyfriend. I miss the days when Claire wasn't trying so hard to be a "hero". I liked when she was just a cheerleader, confused by the changes her body was going through. In a way, it was a neat analogy for adolescence, one that was mined well. Maybe it's time for her to mature a bit. Doesn't Claire have any interests or ambitions that don't involve her healing abilities?
-
Hooray for the return to quality! I'm glad to see Hiro get his powers back. Now all that's left is to get Peter his full power-absorbing power back (via Ando or Baby Touch and Go). I know a lot of you say that he'd be too powerful, but we need that balance of power with Sylar. Besides, Peter's greatest weakness is that he's an idiot... that's the great "equalizer".
-
I hate every character on this show now.
-
I was about to give up on the show until I heard Fuller was returning. I am glad I stuck it out. Tonight's episode was not only awesome, but a vicious bitchslap in the face of the atrocious cliched writing that has dominated season three. Yes, I'd rather have more Pushing Daisies, but I'll take what I can get. It's kind of amazing how much he was able to fix in just one episode. And yeah, like most of us, I totally called Micah in the first Rebel episode. Slick fake-out with Parkman, too. Great work, Fuller! Now, keep Kring out of the kitchen for the rest of the season, and we'll be in good shape.
-
dude, you are way too negative season 1 was a big hit, mostly because of fuller's touch...his fingerprints were all over the epis that he didnt write can he save heroes? only if the suits give kring the heave ho and make fuller show runner
-
and fuck all you people who rave about tdk, yet have the fucking balls to rip comic book collectors guess what shithead...without us geeks, there would be no fucking tdk you aholes werent buying and hyping the killing joke, batman year one, tdkr, etc when they came out you aholes can barely read hollywood woulnt even exist right now were it not for comics...so fuck off girls do go into comic shops most of the guys who work in my local shop are in bands, and like the gig cuz of the hours
-
I have been waiting do long for a decent episode of Heroes, last week was promising but this week actually delivered!
-
even the cheesy daphne/matt stuff was cool. had a superman movie vibe. and then in retrospect with her dying.
-
Hiro's personality is back. His talk with Ando about his mother's passing was a nice touch. Finally the brooding Hiro is gone and the fun, idealistic Hiro is back. He's the heart of the show.
Losing Daphne sucks. But it did give Matt a chance to say goodbye.
Micah being "Rebel" was a no brainer but I thought he used his powers to great effect.
I've no doubt Sylar is going to use Danko and his operation to empower himself further. Then destroy the operation and Danko together. (I think Ma Petrelli is working with him)
But how in the hell did Pete find mom just in the nick of time?
-
Mar 24, 2009 6:01:42 AM CDT
Holy crap! They changed the pronunciation of "Monday"!
by kevin holsinger
Now it's monDAY, at least according to the Heroes Announcer Guy. Thanks for keeping me up to speed.Smartassery aside, the end with Daphne/Matt was my favorite part of the episode, and I still think Micah is too young to be as intelligent as Rebel was made out to be. But it's nowhere near as bad a decision as "Give your old man a hug." "Okay. Agh!" So I'll live.
-
You are the reason nerds receive beat downs. Do not take credit for tdk. If you had any talent you would not be writing little girldick rants on a Heroes talkback. Get some sun Fatty.
-
I've just realized a huge plot hole:
Isn't Peter's ability limited to just one power now? So, when he scooped down to pick up Mama Petrelli, he should have inherited her ability to tell the future; making them both able to see that they're screwed in that elevator with no way to fly out.
Dammit!!!! -
I think Peter has to make a concentrated effort to take someone else's ability so everything should be all sunshine and butterflies.
-
gets entirely too much credit for Lost. It was originally Lieber's idea, which JJ and Lindelof cleaned up for ABC; JJ then shot the pilot, and left Darlton to run the show.Kicking the Heroes habit is easy; miss a few and then jump in again. Then try to determine whether being disoriented is due to the writers' typical scattershot style, or because you missed some episodes. Finally, conclude that you don't care to think about it any longer and stop watching. And yeah, Craftybear is right; BB has been primo this season. No signs of a sophomore slump so far.
-
write the remaining episodes... I would actually care again. Best episode of heroes in forever...
-
Too little, too late. This show always underperformed. Now it just stinks. Heroes' DVR/TIVO reservation has been cancelled.
-
Possible series-low, per Mediaweek, and barely (as in 1/10th of a point) beat out Chuck (3.7/6).
-
But Hayden Panty-Air is the one that gets coverage on TMZ, so there you go. I wonder how Hiro will react to hearing about the death of his "Nemesis"?
-
The Genesis Device as a metaphor for HEROES' resurrection? We'll see.
-
you lost all credibility when you said 'Puhlease!'. Don't ever say it again, unless you're talking about how Becky Bronson TOOOOTALLY looked like an absolute mega-slut in school today.
-
I guess I missed that episode. This was the best ep of Heroes since season 1. Hopefully now they'll create a coherent storyline for next season.
-
I didn't like TDK, I thought it was mediocre but loads better then Batman Begins a truly bad funny book movie. So, fucko, you are wrong YET again. You must like being wrong since you dwell in the land of wrong all the time. Also you are a liar. The only women in comic book shops are kids mothers. Are the the kiddies the reason you hang around the comic shop?Without YOU geeks clamoring for every boring ass funny book movie to be just like your precious comic stip, actual GOOD comic strip movies would get made. Instead of slavish, unimagitve, derivitive shit like; well your precious comic strips. Now go make me my double double before I have to report you to your shift leader. I don't want to be responsible for having a sixty year old yelled at by a more succesful 19 year old. You fat, lazy, cheeto encrusted, basement dwelling, blue wang loving piece of shit fanboi virgin.
-
At least they gave her a pleasant death. Hardly anyone on the show goes out in a kind way...
-
Daph was one of the few new characters that I liked. Still, I hated the bullshit relationship they invented with Parkman. And I never got how he fell in love, simply by observing himself in the future, so I loved the way Fuller handled it last night. And when I first saw Parkman fly, I was like WTF, another power, this can't be Fuller, but then I realized what was going on. Another nice touch.
Too bad Ali Larter had to wink, she is a character I wouldn't mind them ditching. Getting rid of Claire wouldn't hurt either (although too many other characters revolve around her). Now with Daphne gone, Angela is the only decent female character on the show.
This was the first time in a while that Hiro and Ando didn't annoy me so much. Hiro was a lot more serious and at least he finally has a power again.
And although Rebel being Micah was hardly a surprise, it's about time they brought him back. Noah should have been able to figure it out if we could. I don't get the people here who say he's too young to be that intelligent, he was always portrayed as a prodigy.
Now NBC needs to give Fuller complete control over the show. Send Kring a packin' before he gets jealous and tries to neuter Fuller. -
Killing Flash and Icegirl was a step in the right direction. The previous writers' motto was, "When in doubt, introduce a new character. That'll give us some stall time. If that fails, we'll do a cool LOST-esque episode tying in said characters to the original Heroes backstory!"
It's actually good to see Fuller DEVELOP these characters; no other writer on this show seems capable of that. Fuller looks like he's going to use these deaths for good character motivation, like a skilled writer does. Thank god Ali Larter looks to be written out of the show. Next up: Nathan "Hair" Petrelli. Kill him! Kill him good!!!! -
Can we see these freaking characters band together JLA style and kick some ass? I can excuse no costumes (for now) but jesus this show needs some X-Men flair to get to the next level.
I'm giving this show ONE MORE CHANCE, as I stopped watching then came back for the Fuller ep. -
I forgot to say good points in your posts. /agreed.
-
fuck. Bet that hurt.
-
Maybe this show is getting a clue? Now what character will Larter show up as next "chapter"?
-
Useless and a waste of a good product.
-
At the end of the previous episode, Sylar was in Danko's apartment and appeared ready to give him a "haircut." Also, who put the marionette guy in Danko's apartment. I haven't read any theories about that one.
-
Bryan Fuller helps this show. Alot.
-
I think you just came up with your own theory, there.
-
There was a tear running down her cheek after her wink/ blink. I took that to be her death.

Just watched. Herc's way off. 24 blew this away last night.

Mohinder still a tool.
Fortunatley… Fuller gets rid of dead weight (kills speedster, puppet master, and ignores Claire and her mom)
Unfortunatley… he leaves Mohinder. At least we didn't get any god awful narration from him.
p.s. Want more hot government chick. -
Heroes is BACK! Oh my motherfucking christ on a goddamn Southern Comfort bender that was probably the best episode of Heroes ever! I counted six fucking awesome character moments, seven if you didn't already figure out who Rebel was. And only one really, really stupid moment (the wink). For an episode of Heroes, having only one really, really stupid moment means a return to greatness. Oh man, I love getting to watch that show in a theater every week. Even when it's bad it still looks good. But last night, that was great.
-
Congratulations hero fans.
-
also, i don't think peter made skin contact w/ her
-
...and am very sad. They can't win for losing, can they? "Baby Genesis Device"-Fucking great. And I, too, was fooled by the Parkman-Daphne Paris scene. I was so into it I just thought "Telepathy, Telekinesis, standard Jean Grey package. He loves her so much he discovered a new ability.Well, shit. I just got fooled by what I'd been thinking of as the dumbest show on tv." And that, my friends, is fucking professional.
-
REBEL! Gotta be, right? When he's holding that cell phone he can pretty much see thru every security camera, hack every cell phone/communication device, monitor all comms, right? So what Fuller has done has created a badass character with a built-in limitation: his youth & inexperience. Well, not created, but brought to the forefront. Pretty smart, considering all the depowering and subsequent not-quite-repowering-but-close-enough.
-
Question: Do you really think Tim Kring is that hands on? So much so, that he needs shit canned? I don't think Kring really gives a shit about heroes, thus the decline in quality. I kind of see him as a powerless figure head. Is that accurate? Oh, and loved the Fuller scribed ep. I never left the show but definetely saw the disjointed and discombobulated decline in quality.
-
What a novel idea, heroes saving people. Not screwing each other, not switching sides, not talking about serums, not bringing in new characters, not falling in love. Man it's amazing how good a show can be when heroes act like heroes and save people, hiro and ando saves baby matt, peter saves mom, Tracey saves rebel. Heroes saving people=show works.

Wow....that was actually a very good episode.
by christian_bale_trashed_my_lights
I'm shocked.
-
Why the elevator shaft had an open air roof? Or why a dead frozen Tracy fragment can still wink?
-
Best fuckin Heroes ep in what seems like years. Quality over quantity every time, cheers Bry for injecting it back into a show that very much needed it
-
Elevator shaft with open air roof was a nod to Superman.
Winking Tracy fragment shows she still might be alive. Who says Icewoman can freeze to death? -
Hey, great episode. But the more I think about it the more the Hiro and Ando go to India plot bugs me. What did they do there to advance the story? They flew all the way out there, broke up a marriage and came home. WTF?
Was there some dumb idea in the pipeline in India that Fuller nixed when he came back on board? -
Last night's EP definitely had a better "vibe" - great stuff from HRG and Ma Petreli, characters getting killed (though the winking fragment I'm assuming means it's just temporary). Not that I need wholesale death and destruction every EP, but it at least added a little dramatic tension.
Hiro and Ando were pretty much on my nerves for as many episodes as I can remember, but somehow their plot didn't feel as silly - still a little goofy but a much better middle ground (as comic relief goes). Matt didn't feel like a total douche, Hiro has a slight power re-definition/cap, and while Rebel wasn't a surprise (shouldn't have been to anyone with a pulse), he was handled pretty decent (the actor didn't do a bad job of growing into the role). -
The toys (ol' school metal robot with chest lasers and cymbal monkey) were like a little nod to Close Encounters.
-
Herc , stop ignoring The Sarah Connor Chronicles, while Heroes is sinking in quality, Sarah Connor is actually improving every week. Throw us a freakin' bone on Fridays.
-
will continue, professionally.
-
Speaks the truth.
-
Compared to this season's drudgy sludge of a mess, this was actually a pleasant surprise! Keep it up!
-
He *produces* those shows you like, he doesn't *write* them. He usually co-writes the pilot, the finale, and maybe one episode in between. If you thought Alias, Lost and Felicity were well written, thank Abrams for *hiring* the good writers, not for writing the shows.
-
...but hardly any of you outspoken fans gave it props around here. Yet whenever there's some mediocre episode you praise it to no end. You people sadden me.
-
Previous series lows were last week's episode in household rating (4.2/6), viewers (6.67 million) and the 18-49 demo (3.2/8).
Last night's numbers:
6.472m viewers
4.0 rating /6 share
2.9/7 in the 18-49 demo
I predict a 13-episode season 4, which should be their last, and it will probably be a midseason replacement for next January. -
With all the computer shit that was going on episodes ago, I don't know how anyone was remotely shocked. I thought that Micah, for once, fit a little better into the larger story arc (he was actually the only person, other than his dad, that used his powers with success in the first season finale). I am so glad that any Ali Larter character will be absent the show. Her story line, which took up so much of the first season, was boring as shit. Her power was super strength. She was mentally fuckin' ill otherwise. Her story got old fast. Depowering peter was lame. Giving Hiro back some power was good. Did Baby Touch and Go restore partial power or does he need the baby all the time. I guess one more episode will give us that answer. Peter, regardless of Kring's bullshit that the case would change over time (it never has) is the heart of the show. Yet they throw him in at the end (when he has powers or is not suffering amnesia, ughhh!!!) like he is sting on WCW. He shows up, but does absolutely shit for plot advancement. Fuck that. Give him swag back, face off against Sylar. Also, let HRG kill Danko. Whoever said that before was right. A super cannot kill him. Not even Sylar. Sylar's nemesis is Peter. let them duke it out for real. Let Peter knock him down, but still show compassion, which is the major difference between the two characters.
Finally, Fuller did what he could with what was left to him. Just remember, the show was not exactly top notch when he was there in the first place. They seemed to pick up the pace this episode, so keep it going. If Fuller get the credit, I don't care, as long as I am entertained and don't have to hear Claire fuckin' complains all the time "I can't die. Everyone thinks I'm hot. I didn't get rounded up with the others." What the fuck do you have to complain about? -
I stopped watching after Season 2, Episode 3. I can't get into it now...what does the Rebel storyline even mean? Ah, well. Pass.
-

-
I got a blank screen, hit Enter again, then boom! Double post.
-
Matt Parkmans kid's power is rediculous, then they give back Hiro his power but to avoid using Time Travel anymore, he only got back some of his powers? Lame. The show has been shit since Peter lost his powers to his father.
-
Hanah Gittleman is dead, at least her body is. She died destroying the Company Satellite that used to track those implanted by the Company. She hacks in and is killed by the virus. Now her mind lives in cyberspace. It's detailed in the online comic.
-
I guess I did post a theory, but if it turns out to be correct, that would be extremely dumb. Why would Sylar deliver the puppetmaster guy to Donnie Danko? Knowing this show, they will pretend like it never happened.
-
I think Sylar gave Danko a gift so Danko will work with him a while next week, stealing some cool new powers. I hope Danko pisses him off and gets smoked real soon.
-
Thank you Fuller!
-
kring still has final say on the writing staff...most of which couldnt write charlton comic books...he allowed the show to go out of control, as a result of his setting the direction of season 2 (i want the show to have a social concience) he is taking a salary that he hasnt earned...let him go off and make another show that he is more suited to...this one isnt for him

fuller is doing his best to put the pieces back together, after the rest of the crew painted the show into a corner and what a waste of the hannah character...she lives in cyberspace, yet has done nothing for the past 2 seasons to aide the heroes or anyone else why isnt she fucking up the works in iran, or cracking into the computers over at aig to show all the kiddie porn those perverted crooks have
-
during the opening as the motto goes, when you steal, steal from the best
-
isn't dead. She blinked at the end, so she's coming back. If not this season, next season. As much as I didn't like Tracy, I like Ali Larter. I thought the offing of Niki was very unnecessary. Anyway, this episode was excellent. Bryan Fuller is definitely the man. It sucks that his original shows have such a short life span.
-
If kring does control the writing staff, then instant fail for not keeping Fuller on board for season 2 and on.
-
Season 4 should be good provided he's given carte blanche to do whatever he wants... including the power to hire and fire anyone... and also (in my opinion) if he keeps an "edge" to the series. Fuller seems to have a penchant for softer, nicer, charming stories. I'm not suggesting "dark" or "gritty" which seems to be the fad of the moment. Just to shy towards something edgier rather than charming.
-
Why are we forced to follow 18 people on this show? Cant some of them show up and leave and create a little mystery behind what their motivations are? I'm not saying you have to be Lost, but seriously, sometimes not explaining things right away can be a good thing. Can't Hiro be a mysterious Sage-like character from the future who comes and goes as he pleases? In that case it would be better we dont know what hes up to right away and creates more importance to him (and makes him more badass) instead of giving him babysitting duty.
-
for losing fuller...that falls on the suits over at nbc, who shoulda given the guy a long term contract before he signed a deal for daisies over at abcguess the suits still think that writers are a dime a dozen, and that may be the case, but good writers are damn hard to find
-
aint gritty enough for you? fuck, he made the ice maiden cry fuller isnt about gritty, he is about creating characters that an audience can care about...last nite was the first show where greg was able to act normally for the first time in almost 2 seasons....wait till the dude finds out that the kid is really his, and his ex has lost all the preggo fat and is a hottie again
-
to the shit of year 2 cuz that is what you are asking forguess you didnt notice that hiro saved the baby...a little bit more than just a baby sitting gig and maybe you have one over me, but i still cant figure out what is motivating mama petrelli or hrg
-
I think as far as motivation for Mama Patrelli and HGR it'd have to be their respective families wouldn't it? She has both of her sons in harm's way and he has Claire in possible danger.
-
Parkman's wife still looks like a hockey goalie, even if she's skinnier now...
-
You poor diluted childs. No one forces you to watch. And if you say "it's my job to watch" like some wanker did after a previous ep, don't bring your work home. Seriously. It's weak go bitchin' to people who don't really give a shit about how you hate your job. If you hate Heroes so much, get into another line of work and leave us be.
-
Peter didn't get Mama P's power because he actually requires skin contact to receive power (eeewww!). This was clearly revealed in the ep where Tracy was captured; when Peter had Nathan in a headlock he actually had to touch his skin to get his power.
-
I know there's a lot of hate for Tracy, but I think she was poorly utilized and poorly written in the past. I must say, though, that it was cool (no pun) the way she offed that goon in the hallway while everyone was looking on (2 eps back). Out of all of the "heroes" she was the one that actually had true grit and was willing to actually fight and kill. If done right, she could have been Heroes' Sarah Connor. But alas...
-
To clarify, my suggestion for "edge" is for the overall tone for next season when he's hopefully given complete freedom to do what he wants. Also, I suggested that the show have an "edge" not for it to be "gritty". Please re-read my post. I don't often have the time to write everything on my mind but I specifically state that I"m not suggesting gritty.
Kiling and/or death in themselves don't make things gritty. And specific events in an episode, even if they are gritty or edgy don't necessary set the tone for an entire season.
Just my opinion but I would not categorize either of the two deaths from the last episode as edgy or gritty.
I'm well aware of structure and technique and fully acknowledge Fuller's talent in the title portion of my previous post. -
Peter doesnt need skin contact becasuse he was able to use matts power when he touched his arm through his jacket. Hes worked out how to use his power in a better way.
-
umm no, the second season was diluted with disposable characters with too much screentime and the writing focused on the least interesting aspects of the story. And HRG and Mama Paterelis motivations were shown in black and white the other night as we followed them from scene to scene (which is what I'm against.) If you are going to have a bunch of heroes on the show, focus on 3 or 4 of them and let the others come in and out of the story. I dont need to follow mama patrelli around all day, I'll wait for the dvd on those scenes.
-
The only reason I watch this show now is due to its lead-in show, Chuck. I did love the "Company Man" episode and thought that this show was turning a corner... but last night's episode was another convoluted crap fest. Nice try...
-
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that, but if it's true that Peter can acquire powers even through clothing, then we've just revealed another inconsistency. However, if the previous ep is to be used as a marker, the writers have truly settled on the skin-contact model. Otherwise, mom and son would now be dead or in custody.
-
is a no-no on heroes. Elle, that New Orleans girl, the speedster girl... Smiling is the kiss of death.
-
Just sayin' ... I am not sure how helpful Angela's "ability" is. She can see one whole second into the future. Big whoop.
-
Can't believe someone said that sarah connor chronicles was better than Heroes ! what ! SCC is so so boring week after week.. i mean we had the dire funeral ep which was shot on the backlot and then we had the even more dire hospital ep the week after!..the show is horribly cheap with no action for weeks! ..at least its not filmed in canada though ! I dont get the negative backlash towards Heroes..yes season 2 was average but S3 has been much improved after a slightly shaky start. What Heroes does extremly well is the guest casting..i mean George Takei,Nichelle Nicholls,Malcolm McDowell,Robert Forster and now John (always the best thing about smallville) Glover !!! I think this season has been great bar one or 2 blips mostly in the first 4/5 eps. Bryan fuller is god !! and bring in Ron Moore and we'd be entertained every week.
-
I am "proud" to say I finally quit watching this show a couple episodes back. But the DVR still records it. I came here to see if I should watch this episode and I see I do not need to. Sorry, Fuller Fans. Killing Daphne and Tracy doesn't help the show, IMO. Now if Mohinder had been one of the deaths, I would be there. Killing Peter is too much to hope for, I know. That is why I shall now delete my season pass and forget all about this program.
-
1. @ bacci40 - Nerds rule. I know because I am one. (I am also a writer, parent, and gamer so go figure. Oh, and I lift weights with the best of them.)
2. Fuller layed the smackdown with this episode. I expect better things to come.
3. Micah is Rebel, we all say it coming. To deviate from that course would be Fuller trying to play us like monkeys and the last thing he would want to do is to continue pissing off the fans.
4. Tracy isn't dead, she will reconstitute herself and appear later in the series.
5. I loved Matt/Daphne's exchange in the dream sequence. One of the most touching moment in a non BSG show! BTW, I so thought Parkman was a shape-shifting Sylar coming to snatch her power.
6. The show has indeed picked up with one episode, but I am going to hold off on the standing ovation for a few more weeks. -
Sooner or later SOMEONE has to figure out that they need protection against the tazers. If they aren't smart enough to figure that out on their own, at least Hiro is a comic geek that would likely have seen Batman Begins. Bro was tazed and didn't even bat eye;)Now that Fuller is back, will the heroes now actually get smarter?
-
Micah, no.
Daphne, yes. Well done.
It's also interesting how Fuller is referencing events that happened in the last season in character moments and actually giving them time to express how they feel about something that was previously seen (Parkman's vision, Hiro's mom).
-
Actually, her power proved more useful in that episode than a whole 3 seasons worth of "Issac" paintings. Almost every painting actually ENSURED that that which was painted would come to pass. The notable exception is the nuking of "the world". In Mama P's case, at least she was able to avoid being abducted from the limo.
-
PLEEEEAAASE don't leave us, baby! But if you must, here's some bus fare...
-
normal episode of heroes.
Which is basically a poor TV show. -
Then you aren't paying attention. I WISH last monday's ep was a normal episode of Heroes. Hopefully it is a sign of things to come.
-
But, whats up with peter. why did he side with his mom. I mean I totally understand that he would save her, but not side with her. um, maybe it's the fact that she's being hunted so now he trusts her. yeah that works and then she'll probably betray him 40 more times before the show gets canned. please fuller wan kenboi your my only hope. bring back some consistity to your characters.
-
They need to deck each of the Heroes out in those donut suits from Sexdrive.
-
I won't deny that Heroes has suffered as of late over bad writing and bad direction. Its still more enjoyable than much of the crap on the boob tube.
Its amazing though to see the impact one writer can have on a show. Monday's episode was VERY good. Keep it up. -
I think Peter's power can be used through clothing. It was always a proximity thing and always about him learning how to use it. They need to supe him up again, though. It is boring without someone to face off against Sylar directly. Even Sylar told him he was not interesting any more when he shot Papa Patreilli. The show began to take it's cues from 24's worst playbook: crazy twists that are just twisty for twistiness' sake. Twists like that are not satisfying and should be chalked up to a "cheap thrill" like when a cat jumps out of nowhere, forty time, in the course of a Friday the 13th/Halloween type of film. Season 1 was no without its pacing problems and packed with characters. Fuller's attempt to trim down the case, somewhat, will unquestionably tighten the narratives for other characters. Mama Patrelli is a background character, always was. We see her more often than Peter. Nathan is underground because the flying reveal occurred to quickly into this story line. Nathan was more interesting when he was repressing his super powers. Hiro calling him a villain was so simple but satisfying. And it shattered Nathan's image of himself. Then to have him go back to being an asshole just to get exposed, loses a little flavor for me. Slowly connecting with HRG, Claire (only good use of her character) as their common bond, Mama Patrelli revealed to be pulling the string, but why? Once that is revealed, Nathan than begins to rise against Danko, return of Noble Nathan, reveals his powers to Danko, HRG pulls the trigger. Not saying I have the full story thought out, but seeing a little more drama with that would have been nice. Nathan only looks like a jerkoff to everyone, including Danko.
-
I think everyone is assuming that Peter learned to how NOT to absorb powers via touch. I must have missed the episode where he indicated that he had that ability. So far, they have shown him get Tracy's power via accidental skin contact, Nathan's power through deliberate skin contact, and someone said that he gained Matt's power without skin contact (I missed that).
This all does suggest that Peter somehow learned to control when he would absorb powers. But if we just assume that, we're letting the writers off the hook. -
I agree that we need a super-charged Peter --that's what SHE said;)-- and the show lacks balance if Sylar is the only one who is super charged. Let's hope he has to babysit Touch And Go.
-
Watch the episode "exposed" before Matt and Peter go into building 26 and you will see what I mean.
-
Peter saved his mother because...well...she's his mother. Sometimes no matter how f'd a parent can be, the child can still feel obligated to help.
-
I agree, to make the assumption let's the writer's off the hook. I could not remember until i read the Rocker's post what I was basing the assumption. This issues just illustrates that fact that they do not spend enough time with characters we care about. We want to know when will Peter get his memory/powers/full powers/balls back. They strip of his manhood then immediately cut to Claire problems with boys.
