    Anything done by Simon..

    by billypilgrimisunstuck

..is a must see. This will be the first time I will be watching something of his in real time. Maybe that's not such a good idea. I think I would have killed myself watching the Wire hour by hour.

Love it. Clark Johnson should be next.

    by bungion boy

The two of them were always so great together on Homicide, and Johnson was an incredible addition on The Wire in its final season. I say we should team him up with Simon again as soon as possible. 10 episodes on The Wire was not enough.

Johnson's made quite a name for himself as a director

Like to see him helm more features.

    I agree, Juan Sanchez.

Boycott is one of the finest tv films ever made. He did great work in directing the finales for Wire and Shield, and various other episodes as well. I fully expect him to direct for this new series. I would love to see him direct more films as well. But seeing him in front of the camera on the last season of The Wire brought back a lot of fond memories as well. A seasoned mix is I guess what I'd like.

    Civil rights lawyer, huh?

    by maverick68

Maybe she should sue the idiots responsible for leaving thousands stranded while hundreds of busses capable of taking them away from the rising waters lie idle, but of course, that would leave no white Republicans to blame or sue...

The buses were enough for 20,000 people. There were 150,000 stranded. Also, from Wikinews, "It is unclear whether Mayor Nagin knew these particular buses existed, since the Orleans Parish School Board is not under his jurisdiction and his office would not normally know the location of OPSB bus yards or be able to contact the drivers of those buses to place them into service. Normally it is the job of FEMA to coordinate between the various local jurisdictions such as the OPSB and the City of New Orleans in this case. That is, under the rules of prior hurricane responses, FEMA would ask all local jurisdictions for a list of resources under their control. Then FEMA would have taken a request from Nagin for buses, relayed it to the Orleans Parish School Board or other local jurisdictions which had buses, and at that point the OPSB would have provided the buses to Nagin. That coordination did not happen here, but it is unclear whether Nagin ever made such a request prior to the hurricane and after the hurricane they were underwater and useless."

Sigh. When will Simons shows get the fanbase they deserve? I'm excited to see what he's up to here, and having Bunk and Freemon as stars of the show can't be bad at all. Looking forward to this. A lot.

finally figured out what that title is all about

    by emu47

Kept wondering. Then did the sensible thing and looked it up. Wiki says it's a neighborhood in New Orleans, center of brass band culture and stuff. Very cool. Also, thinking it over, this is a nice follow-up for HBO and Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke ... given how Wendell Pierce was featured in Spike Lee's documentary talking about the situation with his family during Katrina. A personal connection to the city on the part of one of its leads can only be a good thing. This is going to be a powerful show. I hope people watch.
