WATCHMEN’s Jackie Earle Haley Pulls The Trigger On DC Comics Fox Pilot HUMAN TARGET!!

Published at:  Mar 05, 2009 11:24:47 PM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Jackie Earle Haley, who plays the troubled superhero Roschach in “Watchmen,” will play an “information gatherer” in Fox’s pilot for “Human Target,” which happens to be another project based on a DC comic book.

It’s another unexpected career turn for Haley, who received an Oscar nomination two years ago for his work in 2006’s “Little Children.”

Mark Valley, who plays FBI agent Olivia Dunham’s evil dead boyfriend on “Fringe,” will play title character Christopher Chance.

Chance, introduced in a 1972 issue of Action Comics, makes his living impersonating those marked for murder. He’s appeared in a number of short-lived DC Vertigo titles since 1999.

If the project goes to series, it will be the second TV chance for Chance, who was played by Rick Springfield in seven episodes of an ABC “Human Target” in the summer of 1992.

The Fox pilot was penned by somebody named Jon Steinberg.

    Really? Why?

    by fiester

If he's as good as everyone claims in Watchmen shouldn't he stick to feature films (assuming the scripts keep coming his way)? This seems like a really odd decision for a comeback actor in demand. It's like if Travolta, coming off Pulp Fiction, took the Tattoo role in the "Fantasy Island" reboot.

JACKIE EARLE HALEY AS "THE SHRUB"

    by mullah omar

I'll watch this if JEH pulls a Bugs Bunny maneuver and disguises himself as a shrub to secretly pass info to the hero. I hope that's the direction this show goes.

Also, on the HUMAN TARGET cover linked above, that guy with the machine gun on the top left corner looks way too happy. I guess he really likes his job.

I'm sure he'll still get plenty of work either way.

    Fiester: why:

I don't know if you noticed...but Jackie ISN'T exactly John Travolta. Not before his comeback. And certainly not after. He's not a leading man. He's a good actor who's getting attention in good roles. So taking a part in a TV show that will A) raise his profile (how many people REALLY saw Little Children?) and B) maintain his cool cred after Watchmen...Good move.p.s. take note Mickey Rourke...do something other than fight about money for projects, and actually maintain your momentum.

Jackie Earle Haley was great as Rorschach.

    by jimmy rabbitte

I was very happy that the film did not include that silly Smashing Pumpkins (or was it just Billy Corgan?)song that was featured, in the first trailer. Song was very gay.

    I loved that song! :(

    by theghostwholurks

That song was part of what got me so pumped for the movie. First no squid... now THIS??? They'd better not have taken out the clips about The Black Freighter, or someone's gonna get stalked! >:(And not the good, "hot, lonely model trying to get the attention of an unappreciated, shy comic fan"-type stalking, either! The OTHER kind. The kind that court-appointed minder kept bugging me about until I finally shut him up with ball-peen hammer.Stupid courts. >:(

    Good News

    by fivezero

Although I think this should be a movie. Still I'm excited. I don't know how much of me is excited because the comic mini-series were amzing. I loved Milligan and Edvin Buikovic's run [Edvin died a few years ago]! Edvin was my favorite artist. The work he did on those Grendel comics was untouchable. Anyway, this series has promise. I hope they follow the comics fairly closely. Can't wait to see the pilot.

IS he supposed to be . . .

    by skidmarkedundies

The Equalizer but in makeup? Is he saving the people whom he impersonates? Or is he just some sicko who likes to be in the cross hairs? I need to read up on this guy. I just might like it.
