SWEEPS DAY ONE!! Thursday Brings The First OFFICE Since Feb. 12!!

Published at:  Mar 05, 2009 11:14:25 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Yes, February sweeps starts on March 5 this year. Nielsen was concerned about February’s “digital switch,” which I think has now been postponed till June (maybe later, since nobody can afford a digital TV anymore).

Tonight:
“Blood Drive”
Written by Brent Forrester.
It’s Valentine’s Day at the office. Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) meets a mysterious woman at a Valentine’s blood drive. Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) pair up with single women at the office “Lonely Hearts Party.” Meanwhile Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) are banished from the office for being too publicly affectionate, and have an awkward lunch with Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) and Bob (Robert Ray Shafer).

Next week:
“Golden Ticket”
Written by Mindy Kaling.
Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) causes a huge problem in the office when he comes up with the idea to put “golden tickets” into packages of paper for clients to redeem for discounts. Andy (Ed Helms), Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) give Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) differing advice on wooing a woman. Rainn Wilson, Leslie David Baker, Kate Flannery, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton and Paul Lieberstein also star.

March 19:
“New Boss”
Written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.
Michael has big plans for his 15th anniversary party at Dunder Mifflin, but is in for a shock when the new, no-nonsense Vice President (guest star Idris Elba) has some ideas of his own. Meanwhile, Jim’s prank on Dwight has some unexpected results.

March 26:
“Two Weeks”
Written by Aaron Shure.
Michael’s (Steve Carell) relationship with the new vice president (guest star Idris Elba) becomes increasingly tense, as Michael finds an excuse to goof off even more than usual. Meanwhile, Pam (Jenna Fischer) faces the challenge of a new copier and Kelly (Mindy Kaling) develops a crush.

* Kevin will get a love interest

* Ryan Howard will be back from Thailand.

* Michael Scott may quit Dunder Mifflin and take another staffer with him.

* Holly Flax will be back for at least one more episode this season.

    The Office (Relationships)

Oh wait... it's just Season 5. Sigh.

    Micheal getting fired?

    by heckles

The BBC version had funny moments when the main guy was fired. But Dwight already quit and came back. Ryan somehow swindled the company and was a temp again.

    I just watched Still Waiting...

    by bloo

the movie sucked, but John Micheal Higgens was great and I was thinking that should they ever get The Office spinoff OR Steve Carrell leaves, they need to get JMH off of Kath and Kim and on The Office

Heroes will be back next season: Hollywood Reporter

    by pennsy

NBC says the show's international popularity trumps the dismal weekly ratings; a series-low in the 18-49 demo and barely staying above 7 million viewers. http://tinyurl.com/bolgk6

This show just isn't funny anymore -

    by jugdish

Seriously - the intro is funny as are the end pcs- the bulk of the shows have been weak. They need to return to how Michael would always be right ( despite sounding crazy )- The last season was terrible cause we pissed on Andy the whole time...it was going borderline sad! I felt sorry for him. They need to revamp it ...fast

    Idris Elba....

    by dougmckenzie

Interesting. With Michael's problems with racial insensitivity, having a black boss could take this some awkward places. He is lucky to have two men under him who accept or blow off his behaviour with Stanley and Darryl, but a superior might come down hard on him.

    The last new ep

    by my pretty pony

was one of the funniest this season. Dwight and Jim trying to appease Kelley w/ her b-day party & offering her either an hour of TV or an hour-long nap, Pam taking over for Michael at his presentation & doing her Forrest Gump impression, the whole bit w/ the nanny cam Angela set up for her cats, Creed. Very enjoyable episode. I wish they were all that good. I still like the show, but for the most part, it hasn't been as funny as it was the first couple of seasons.

    by orbots commander

Maybe it's just this season, but The Office doesn't do it for me anymore. The characters are too different and the show plots are beginning to repeat themselves. That's a sign a TV show has seen better days and is on its last legs. The open with the phone system salesman and the Fonzie thumb salutes wasn't funny either.

    Truth about The Office

    by wizardandglass

Is it as good as season two? No. Even season three or four? Probably not. But The Office is still better than 90% of the comedies on television right now.
