FANBOYS expands to Tampa, St Louis, Greenville, Grand Rapids, New Orleans, Louisville, Albany, Buffalo, Nashville, W. Palm Beach
Hey folks, Harry here with that film that continues to survive and expand despite just about being abandoned by its studio's promotion department. So I find myself once again receiving an email from FANBOYS screenwriter, Ernest Cline. In his secret identity of Ernie Cline, I took him to see WATCHMEN last night - and watched as his mind was completely blown. So, if you can find yourself in one of the below cities, you can actually see FANBOYS - remember - each ticket helps this film see a theater in another city that found it impossible to contemplate seeing this little film pre-DVD! Ernie asked me to thank everyone that has seen it so far - and to let you know he's monitoring the TWITTER mentions of FANBOYS and for those of you that proclaim to have seen it multiple times... He Really Loves Yous!

No one outside of these fan sites even know about it.
-
...is it worth me driving 3 hours to New Orleans to see this?
-
Stop Harry.
-
except for the part where i got my ass kicked by harry. of course that would never happen.
-
Its expanding theaters the same weekend as Watchmen? Genius, pure genius. I hear crickets...

Where's my screening?
-
The movie is listed online as showing at Celebration Cinemas. UNfortunately no showtimes have been announced on the website as of yet.
-
I went to see this movie based on your recommendation ad it blew chunks. It should have been direct to dvd for that's what it felt like watching it. Its humorless. The cancer kid doesn't even act sick in it until the script reminds us he is sick to try and pull on our heart strings. He gets in a fight with trekkies and walks around no problem I'm supposed to buy he has deathly ill cancer because of the one time in the film he coughs (which sounded like a fake cough you give to call out of work) and because he feel down because he couldn't catch up to a moving vehicle and he has to go to the hospital? Also it tries to tack on a stupid lame ass romance between windows and kristen bell's character that takes came out of nowhere? Its like the film didn't knowl what it wanted its emotional anchor to be: the cancer story or the geek gets the hottest girl in town to fall in love with him despite his geekyness. So they threw em both in. It has no heart. And the worst offense this movie creeates is having seth fucking rogen show up in it unnacounced as not one two different characters!! I always liked rogen but when he starts showing up in comdies that he's not being advertised in to begin with. Does he have to be in everythig I see this year. Him and I are done professionally now. The only reason you love this film is because it shows you kicking someone's ass. Hate to break it to you fat ass you ain't kicking anyones ass. You love that it portayed you as not heavy tough and that you can walk. Plus when your character shows up windows has to explain to the gang who you are then says every geek has your site as his home page yet they dont ? Horrible way to work in a plug and the audience didn't laugh for thwy didn't know who harry knowles is and really doesn't give a fuck. God man you have no tastes in films harry

We just hosted the WORLD PREMIERE of CORALINE like three weeks ago with Teri Hatcher and Dakota Fanning... and we're not one of the top 25 cities to get FANBOYS?RIDICULOUS. These guys don't know how to market a film.At least Bruce Campbell knows what's up... he did two days of showings for MY NAME IS BRUCE in December, and they sold out!
-
We even got an advance screening of Watchmen several months before press got it ... freakin' basterds ...
-
But with a romance that comes out of nowhere and doesn't land any of its scenes its in and the comesdy being way over the top to not balance the supposedly serious reaosn they are going on the mission I have to claim this film DOA
-
I assumed it ran for 2 days last week and left the theaters already.
-
Agreed. Portland is a great market with tons of geeky film lovers and filmmakers.BTW, did you hear that the TNT series "Leverage" is moving its production here to PDX next year? I haven't seen the show, but it's a boon for Stumptown. I've got friends in the industry from all over Oregon who are applying for jobs, as something like 95% of the crew will be local.
-
when the McRib is outselling your movie, its time to start working on the DVD commentary.
-
I laughed. A lot. Fuck all y'all.
-
So I can get the extra stuff.
-
according to ign.com
-
We drove to Orlando to see it last week, but now we get to see it again in Tampa.
Probably be a Watchmen/Fanboys double feature! It was good. We laughed. A lot.
I don't expect it to sweep the Oscars, but it's a fun film. -
I saw this last week, which is exactly how long it lasted at the theatre where it was playing. I absolutely loved the idea behind this and was hoping so much that it would rule, but...it was terrible. Very, very few laughs, bad writing, bad acting, cliches everywhere you look ... OK, wait, I do remember ONE legit big laugh, and that was the Star Trek phaser scene in the comic book store. That was funny. The rest I've already nearly forgotten.
But one thing I shan't forget...Carrie Fisher. Good Lord, that cameo made me feel absolutley ancient, thinking I once lusted after a woman who now looked like TreeBeard's grandmother. Sorry, Carrie, I love ya, but ... wow.
Anyway, yes, Behemoth declares the film a sad failure. So say we all. -
You saved me some cash. Doubt I'll even bother renting it.
-
We need this movie in Dallas. I know at least twenty people who will go see this in the DFW area, including me.
-
That was the most insane, rambling, incoherent rant I've ever heard. You personally attack Harry because you didn't like this movie? What are you, nuts?
-
Only wish someone gave me a heads up
-
Are you still bitching? Dude, grow a pair and suck it up.
You're out $10, fucknut, and you ain't getting it back. Deal with it. Jesus Christ, what a pansy... -
Jokes on you, this thing had suck written all over it from the very beginning.
Nerds trying to be in on the joke of their own nerdiness always fail. -
YOU'VE got "suck" written all over YOU, assclown. When you due back in Boystown?
-
It tries to be a Wayne's World thing, but bombs.
-
dopey movie...
-
God you guys are a bunch of fucktards.
-
I apologized for the mispells in the rant that's what made it ill admit hard to read and that is why I posted my second post to sum up my overall feelings of the flim. And sweriously you are upset someone posted a rant and made fun of harry on aicn? How long have you been coming here again? And I was picking on harry to show how easily his reviews can be bought. They played himm up as some tough physicall strong guy who can walk and kick someones ass so naturally he plugs the shit out of this movie. I was trying to save others the horrible experience that is fanboys. One guy wants to drive 3 hours to see it! With the price of gas I can't in good conscience let him do it. I normally don't agree with eberet these dsays but he is so dead on about this film in his review I suggest you read and think twice before buying a ticket. There is no balance of comedy or emotion in this thing. Its over the top slapstick with trying to force two emotional anchors down our throats to try and makes the audience even give a fuck. Plus rogen plays two characters in this!! Two!! They never take the subject of cancer seriously enough for it to have any emotional effect on us. Its 'ok here is the sad hospital scene we need to remind the audience he has cancer now onto the crazy way we break and run around the skywalker ranch
-
NONE of the trailers/clips have been funny and it looks like something that was made for collegehumor wrapped in a bad Family Guy joke.
-
I'm still reeling from that complete atomic bomb of ownage you just detonated on me, but I stand by my comments.
-
Was it the best thing ever? No, but it was enjoyable. There were a good number of people in the theater for the last show of the night.
-
your posts make my brain hurt. and the irony of somehow writing a rambling, non-sensical post as they call out a film for being rambling and non-sensical is good for a laugh.even if this film suffers from some of the back and forth turmoil, and it's not perfect, shouldn't we still support films like this that are a labor of love? isn't that worth your $9.75? what, you think Michael Bay needs the money?some people just love to criticize and complain, and I guess the talkbacks are the place to do it, but here's what I don't understand: the people that bitch and moan and insult Harry and everyone on this site the most are the ones I see in almost every talkback. if you're so discontented with this site, why are you still here?
-
He's a HUGE fan of Star Wars, so don't rag on him. Rag on the shitty ass studio. Did you know Dreamworks almost made this movie?
-
10 theaters! In: Cornelius, OR Morrisville, NC Raleigh, NC Lansing, MI Hermantown, MN Waite Park, MN Fargo, ND Grandville, MI Shelby, NC Jeez are those places even big enough to be called cities?
-
How come Outlander wasn't so lucky? I mean at least they wouldn't have shit all over Outlander like they did with Fanboys.
-
i can verify that shelby nc isnt big enough, though it does have the best county fair in the state, thats about all its got
-
so where is it?
-
I frak you not. :) Doesn't look like there's gonna be a blu-ray release, though. It's going to be coming to Russia, Denmark and the Czech Republic beginning from April to July: http://tinyurl.com/c2gx8s
-
omg this movie is sooo good ! i saw it in la the week it came out . i heard about it at comic con 07 very good
-
is about 20 miles west of Portland, but it's about 3 miles from Pacific University in Forest Grove, and has the closest theater to campus.
-
Ahoy Harry. Just got the news directly from Alliance for the releases of Fanboys in Canada. So far, 3 citys annouced; Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver for an april 3rd outing up here. Finally.
-
oh and I just saw Watchmen at a private screening here in Montreal at the Technicolor press releases. Just a great cult movie that will last forever.
-
OH YEAH BABY!!! NASHVILLE welcomes Fan Boys next Friday!!! Belcort won't know what hit it!! There are SOOO many Star Wars fans who would LOOOVE this movie in Nashville!!! You've got to expand it to Opry Mills, as well as Thoroughbred 20 in Franklin. LOADS of fans there!! It should do VERY WELL!!!! Now, just promote it!!
-
Even though, technically, the theater is across the river in New Albany...close enough. If the wife and I do end up moving back to Louisville it will probably be to the Southern Indiana side....the Sunny Side of Louisville....
-
If it is still playing this friday I might sneak in after seeing the Watchmen matinee....
-
No screenings in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area!
-
I don't care what ridiculous media map these idiots are following, lumping Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and Asheville together doesn't make them one "market." Hell, I live in Greenville, and there's no way I'm going to make a 2.5-hour round trip just to see this.

I'll do my best to get the word out in Louisville!
by the reluctant austinite
I'll let as many geeks in Louisville know about "Fanboys" as I can. However, I may be fighting an uphill battle since every geek in Louisville will want to see "Watchmen" that weekend. Damn it, if "Fanboys" opened here last weekend, it would have had all the attention of geeks here, but it's hard to compete with the buzz of "Watchmen." I'll do what I can.
-

I'll do my best to tell people NOT to see this shit.
by dannyglovers_dickblood
Seth Rogen....Star Wars jokes? No fucking thanks.
-
Opry Mills sucks.
Tearing down Opryland to build that shitty mall was a huge mistake. -
No this movie is not a labor of love its hardly a movie. Its no style and no substance at least michaek bay has got that going for him and I hate that fucker.and I have no problem witht his site. I have problems with how easily harry can be bought and how he gives rave reviews for movies that are pieces of shit. He used to be a good reviewer and I've seen many a film based on his recoomendations in the past but with the prices of movie tickets these days he should try to make us want to see good movies. i can't let anyone I'm good faith waste money on this piece of shit that's why I'm trashing this movie and getting the word out. Nowhere in myt post did I say I hate this site. I love it and will continue to. So get off your fucking high horse that people who complain on this site should go somewhere else. That's stupid. If you don't like people complaining on this site you go somewhere else. You gott a lot of growing up to do buddy suck my balls
