Published at:  Mar 04, 2009 7:09:51 AM CST

Merrick here...

...with the results of yesterday's contest to snag one of three copies of WATCHMEN: THE OFFICIAL COMPANION (details HERE).

Here are the three recipients:

Archie Operario - North York, Ontario

Isaiah Newport - El Paso, TX

Cary P.Downing - Findlay, OH

Your names & addresses were passed on to Titan Books first thing this morning & you should be receiving your 176 pages of WATCHMEN movie goodness shortly.

Once more, we'd like to express our appreciation to Titan for making this contest possible - as well as for providing prize fulfillment.

If you weren't one of the three this time around, keep your eyes peeled to AICN in the coming weeks/months. If all goes well, other opportunities similar to this giveaway will be coming around. We're careening towards the Summer movie season, after all...

    What were the times?

    by a-cod

I figured 11:59 the cover of issue 11 or 8:16 the time on Dr Manhattan's first wife's watch when the fat guy stepped on it. By the way 8:16 is the time the "little boy" bomb went off at Hiroshima.

    regarding this contest

    by malificus

i would like to say how nice it was to simply send an e mail rather than building seven foot tall Harry sculptures out of Spam or fashioning Shia LeBouf busts from pig sphincters or any of the other ridiculous hoops you usually have to jump through just to try and score some stupid shwag, so thanks to you Merrick for a little god-blessed simplicity.

Newsweek says Watchmen is not good

    by arcadian del sol

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/186958/page/1
also suggests that Snyder wasn't good enough to make this movie, and lacks any ability to tell a story.
says that showing a blue penis 'flapping in the apocalyptic breeze' was all for the sake of making sure of the R rating.
oh and this is the best: calls Malin Ackerman the Jar Jar Binks of The Watchmen.

Edelstein Hated WATCHMEN, But He Hated TDK Too

    by laserpants

His review of TDK is actually hilarious because says its too complex, dark, and mean, and that he couldn't follow the action sequences. It just screams "I'm over the hill!" His Watchmen review is similarly written; seems to come from a man more or less out of touch. Intelligent, sure, but out of touch.
Oh, the New Yorker guy hated it too. Lane. But I'm pretty sure he / they hated TDK too. I reckon RT will hover around 75%. And I reckon the movie is probably really good, definitely destined for cult fandom, will probably do reasonably well in the b.o., but not tear the roof off. I'm really looking forward to seeing it and the 3 hour + directors cut version coming later...

You think there should've been a quota or something? That Merrick should've bent the rules to make sure someone on the other side of the pond won? Fuck that shit. Odds are 90% of the entries were stateside. What a whiny shit.
