Not only will Sam Raimi DRAG ME TO HELL, But Everyone Else At the Paramount Theater during SXSW!!!

Published at:  Mar 03, 2009 1:59:59 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... It has been my distinct honor on many occasions to be very honored to get to introduce certain screenings... but this first Sunday of SXSW this year is a doozy. Not only do I get to personally introduce Sam Raimi to a midnight audience... but I get to introduce Sam, who has brought a work in progress print of DRAG ME TO HELL to screen for all of us!

Now I know - we all wish Sam would just stop with this horror obsession and stick to SPIDER-MAN (THAT IS A JOKE), so you probably won't want to come out to see Sam and a new Raimi bit of badass fun as hell Horror (at least if you believe Quint) - but I'm thrilled. To have 1200 screaming Sam Raimi horror nuts take over the Paramount theater just to have their collective shit scared out of their bodies. Well... it will be an epic night! I hope to see a lot of you there!

Sure he will make a cameo. Eh? Get it? I crack myself up.And why not try to get a Spidey 4 scoop, if there is anything to talk about.

    Observe and Report?

    by grievey

Based on the previews I've seen, it looks slow and boring. No part of the preview made me laugh, anyway.

Hopefully the real thing will be better than the previews.

Let the guy do something more than a Spider-Man movie or a fucking piece of shit Evil Dead! When he branches out his films can be really good, like A SIMPLE PLAN or even the THE GIFT!

Raimi needs to be back in splatter-horror movie form once again...Peter Jackson as well, for that matter.

Not to be critical of Raimi, but really, what's with the Work in Progress tag? I mean, shouldn't it be ready by now? It's due out in May. I'm sure he's still tweaking and stuff right up to the release, as a lot of hands-on filmmakers do, but he's been testing it for months and for it to still be a work in progress makes me wonder and gives me doubts. I really, really want this to be good but I don't think it will be. I hope Raimi proves me wrong. A Simple Plan was one of the top-3 films of 98.

Simple Plan 1 of 3 best of 98? Reality check.

    by jackrabbitslim

Just out of curiosity - which 8 of these following 10 1998 films is Simple Plan better than? Run Lola Run, American History X, Big Lebowski, Lock Stock 2 Smoking Barrels, Happiness, Saving Private Ryan, Rushmore, Pi, Elizabeth. Maybe, possibly, in top 10, but top 3? That's a bold statement indeed.

Id be hard pressed to put Raimi's effective but still rote genre piece over any of those. But that's just me.

Ask Raimi about-he has the rights to the Dennis Lehane book, The Given Day about Boston's north end and Babe Ruth. Mark Wahlberg should be cast as Danny the cop.
