Steve McQueen grandson – also named Steven McQueen – will play Jeremy in the CW pilot “Vampire Diaries,” based on L.J. Smith’s “Vampire Diaries” novels. Screenwriter Kevin Williamson (“Dawson’s Creek,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “The Faculty,” “Teaching Mrs. Tingle,” the first two “Scream” movies, “Wasteland,” “Glory Days,” “Cursed,” “Hidden Palms”) is writing the effort. Recall that the CW’s predecessor network, The WB, had the opportunity to continue with its superb vampire series “Angel” five years ago, but cancelled it to make room for “Blue Collar TV,” “Jack & Bobby” and “Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show.” Read all of Variety’s story on the matter here.
