Steve McQueen’s Grandson Joins CW’s VAMPIRE DIARIES Pilot!!

I am – Hercules!!
Steve McQueen grandson – also named Steven McQueen – will play Jeremy in the CW pilot “Vampire Diaries,” based on L.J. Smith’s “Vampire Diaries” novels
.
Screenwriter Kevin Williamson (“Dawson’s Creek,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “The Faculty,” “Teaching Mrs. Tingle,” the first two “Scream” movies, “Wasteland,” “Glory Days,” “Cursed,” “Hidden Palms”) is writing the effort.
Recall that the CW’s predecessor network, The WB, had the opportunity to continue with its superb vampire series “Angel” five years ago, but cancelled it to make room for “Blue Collar TV,” “Jack & Bobby” and “Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show.”

I knew Steve McQueen, sir, and you are no Steve McQueen
by therevengeofleevancleef
and also, enough with the vampires already.

As long as they don't sparkle in the fucking sun.
-
So awesome in DEATH RING along with Don Swayze and Mike Norris.
-
Sorry to be a such Joss-fucker but I can't believe CW passed on "Slayers" just to give us another Kevin Williamson shitfest?! I mean, come on! They already own the Buffy IP? What can they really gain by hacking a new one?
Don't get me wrong, I love the first two Scream movies and think they were both really funny retreads of the 80's slasher genre. But "True Blood" has already given us a fresh take on people with fangs. What can KW possibly hope to offer? Anne Rice made gay vampires trendy back in the 80's. -
that Angel was cancelled was that they committed a ton of money to a Dark Shadows remake that was so awful it didnt make it past the pilot if I remember right
-
Variety: "Steven R. McQueen - the grandson of Steve McQueen - is set to play Jeremy in 'Vampire Diaries.'" I know I'm going out on a limb here by admitting I've read the books, but there's no character named Jeremy in The Vampire Diaries.
CW was already scooting out onto thin ice by attempting to adapt a show based on teen vampire novels. Now they're pogoing up and down headed for an icy bath of debilitating hypothermia. Making up characters? Check. Presumably abandoning whatever plot existed? Inevitable. What's the deal, CW? When you make a crappy teen adaptation you're supposed to change everything *but* the names. -
also named DW Griffith, the DW standing for Dick Weed.

It was a descent show

Werewolves fucking rule!

He was always a bad boy in Hollywood -- there were rumours of black magic and Satanic parties -- but there many are bemused by McQueen's constant rating as the ultimate female fantasy because of persistent gossip that he was a homosexual.
McQueen was a mystery man of the movies. He was reclusive and he was difficult. For years stories were told of his repressed homosexuality. And it just made him more of man's man. -
What kind of Vampires are these? The more traditional ones or the modern walk in the sun ones?
-
This is as far as he'll go before DTV. There's only one Steve McQueen.
-
...that movie based on "Vampire Knight"? You'd think that after "Twilight" did so well, VIZ Pictures (US) would consider it...
-
freaking hot. Tell her to stop modeling and to start making films.

I was really blown away by the first three volumes of the Buffy:Season Eight comic, especially "Wolves at the Gate". I'm so addicted, I may have to start buying the comic off the rack, instead of waiting for the graphic novels. If the Buffy series had done the storyline where Buffy sleeps with a girl, it'd have been a huge deal. The media would have freaked. The hype would have been worth it, too. The way they handled Willow's reaction to the whole thing was just spot on perfect, in my mind. And am I the only one who just thinks that Brian K. Vaughn fucking rules? I'm only two volumes into "Y: The Last Man" but what an awesome series. There's a lot of Vertigo books I haven't read, to be sure, but I've liked every book I've read from them.
That said, I was disappointed by what I read of the Angel comic. Wesley Windham Price is probably my favorite character in the Slayerverse. For some reason, I really like seeing Xander in comic book form. Home definitely got cooler after Nathan ripped his eye out. But with Wesley, it's just not the same. The writing just didn't have the flare of a good Joss/Tim script. I don't know if I'm a Brian Lynch fan or not. I really haven't read enough of his stuff. So far, it feels like Joss hired him because he couldn't find anyone better.z
I doubt if I'll watch this new show when it airs. If it gets A buzz like Galactica, then sure. But really, what are the chances of THAT happening? C'MON CW!!! QUIT SUCKING DOUCHE JUICE AND GREENLIGHT SLAYERS, BITCH!!!
(sigh)... BTW, am I the only one here that's starting to like Connor Chronicles as much as the first two Terminator movie?. I thought the pilot was fucking lame (TIME DISPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT IN 1993? WTF?!?!) and it took a while for the show to find it's footing. But they've had some really, really good writing this season. I normally despise film spinoffs but I'm going to be very sad to see this show go... -

a promo featuring a brooding vampire with blood on his lips?
by smackfu
Genius! I'm there. No, seriously though, I'd rather eat glass.

I like vampire stories and it doesn't hurt to give it a look.
-
...no CW.
-
Steve McQueen was my grandfather. The coolest motherfucker ever to walk the planet...was my grandfather!
-
The ending of the Angel series was so perfect with the cast fighting against impossible odds surely to be all destroyed in one last raging battle against the endless night. How could anything that came after it not suck?
-
The main point of the show will probably be the love triangle between pretty girl, emo vampire boy, and his bastard vampire brother. So there *should* be some scope for vampire-as-villain attacking people at night and killing their pets. The vampires have more old fashioned powers, similar to Buffy. They whoomf in sunlight unless wearing a lapis lazuli amulet. They can only enter your house if specifically invited inside. Evil vampires can't cross water and various witchy herbs can protect against their powers. They can control the weather, shapechange (raven, wolf) if powerful enough, and control minds via mental telepathy/charm. Werewolves and witches/psychics exist. But the producers will change everything they can get their hands on so who knows what the show will actually end up with.

Steven McQueen was great on Everwood
-
be The greatest Couger and milf-hunter in the world cause every woman over 40 knows Steve Mcqueen was the man.
-
Kind of sick of these things being "humanized" so much when they are all about eating people. One by one their weaknesses are all gone in these retellings until finally there're not so much vampires as fantasy super beings with a kinky sucking fetish. There's understanding, and then there's just gullability. Buffy handled it best when the vamps were going to eat the clueless fetishists. "Um...where's the doorknob?" Even the humanized Angel and Spike paid a price for all their powers.

Sad thing is most people under 30 haven't heard of him
by charlie_allnut
Sometimes I'll talk about McQueen at work and get blank stares. "You know The Great Escape, Bullitt, Papillon?" More blank stares. Ugh.
-
He's like my favorite actor and I'm not what you would consider a typical Mcqueen fan so I don't know many other fans of his work in my circle. I was just thinking if HE and Bruce Lee had lived to ripe ole ages The Hollywood action genre would probably be 30-40 years ahead of where we are now.
-
Was my favourite season but the way Season 4 ended was actually a much better way (for me) to have ended the series.
-
...you can keep this "Twilight" teen angst crap for the kiddies.
