Claimjumper's latest casting bit on SCREAM 3
Hey folks, Harry here. Hmmm... Haven't seen much of ol Patrick Dempsey in a while I do believe, but... Hmmm... However, Lance Henriksen is a waaaay way cool choice to be putting in any movie. Personally, I hope he's played as a really sweet guy. You know... Like a flower salesman.

Claimjumper here. I'm afraid I haven't been able to get much info lately, as
my source has been real busy. They're shooting about three pages a day,
going well into the night. The last email I got simply said "News: Patrick
Dempsey"...When I asked whether this was meant to be a Scream 3 reference, I
got a simple "Yes. Yes it is." Not much, I know. Anyway, the newest tidbit
I've gotten is that Lance Henriksen is onboard. I don't know how post-worthy
this is, as I've had the nose to the grindstone myself and haven't visited
the site in awhile. Take care, and if you need to organize a march on the
MPAA offices, let me know. I'm there.

Scream 2 was atrociously bad. Horrible. Terrible. Piss poor. The worst thing ever. -
Scream 2, as I mentioned above, was an afulw, AWFUL movie. I hope Wes Craven gets his head out of his ass and remembers how to make a movie like the first scream, which was inventive and entertaining. Scream 2 was an unintentional parody of itself. Let's all pray that Scream 3 will somehow pull itself out of the festering cesspool left by Scream 2 and be a good movie. But with potential character names like "Tom Pitt" and "Tyra Fox" (see Doughboy's article from yesterday), chances are they won't be able to pull it off and Scream 3 will be in the same league as Rambo III and Friday the 13th Part 9.

Haven't seen Patrick Dempsey in a long time but he gave me many laughs in 'Sisters' and 'Coup de Ville'. If you haven't seen these check 'em out now.

I could be wrong, but hasn't Patrick Dempsey been M.I.A. since, like, 1989? I know he's done some TV work since then, but as for a theatrical motion picture? Seems to me like SCREAM 3 is going to end up somewhere between the PSYCHO remake and HALLOWEEN H20: and the original was made only three years ago! What started off as a relatively low-budget film with a mostly unknown cast has escalated into THE movie to get into if your under 35 a mere three years later. Still, I have hope. The original SCREAM, by no means a classic, was an okay film (and the only one of these "post-modern" slasher shitfests I'll watch), the second one, while fun on the first viewing, grows tiresome if you see it again and again (Showtime seems to air it every other night). As for the third one, I'm expecting major characters to become "carnage candy," and hopefully put an end to these "hip" horror movies that have been clogging up movie screens since the surprise hit of SCREAM in early '97.

It's not like he's just now resurfacing. Doesn't anyone remember last year's "Hugo Pool"? Oh well, I thought it was a fun movie. Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but fun nonetheless.

Not exactly along the lines of the casting I suggested yesterday, but it could work. Sweet Yahweh, I could barely sleep last night, tossing and turning with excitement over the mere idea of Roman Banks. When you let Him in, He will change your life forever. Thank you, oh benevolent creators of SCREAM 3, for blessing us with a savior for these troubled times. Just don't fuck up and cast Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Not because it'll be incredibly good (though there might be hope; who knows) but just the fact that most of this year's crop have been smart, psychological, adult-ey horror films and this is gearing up to be just another teen-hearthrob-slasher flick?... oh well...time to sneeze myself away...

If you guys march on the MPAA's building, can I come? I'll bring 50 pounds of napalm, a pitchfork, & a barrel full of cyanide. But since clever irony seems to be the crusade, maybe we should all wear ghost masks, ya think?
P.S. I hope Patrick Dempsey gets ripped open & strangled with his intestines. That'd be cool... -
Patrick Dempsey got royally shit on back in 1987 for being denied a Best Actor nomination for his portrayal of Ronald Miller in the critically acclaimed blockbuster "Can't Buy Me Love." No one, could have pulled off the role of an esteem challenged teenager that goes from like "totally geek to totally chic" better than Dempsey. Furthermore, this same Patrick Dempsey epic launched the careers of many of todays big-name stars, like Seth Green, and Katrina Caspary (best known for her stunning performance in "Mac and Me." I suppose that fierce competition with that Fat Boys movie at the box office kept this one from becoming one of the highest grossing films of all time.
Give Patrick Dempsey a break. We all know of his abilities as an actor capable of a stellar performance in every genre: he practically re-invented comedic acting in "Meatballs III", he showed his erotic side in "Loverboy", he blasted off the screen as an action hero in "Run". With all of this evidence, he is sure to steal the show in "Scream 3", possibly changing the way we watch horror movies forever! -

For all the people saying that Scream 3 will stink, they obviously don't understand horror movies. A successful horror movie is creative. It also makes a good portion of the audience scared. NOT EVERYONE is SCARED. Wes Craven shows that he can make those Classic horror movies. He gave us Nightmare on ELM Street which was ranked the 11th scariest movie in Entertainment weekly. He showed that scream and scream 2 scared a good portion of people nation wide, especially women. So when you say that scream 3 will stink, you better see it before you believe that.

Blair Witch should be out on video by the time this installment of the franchise gets made. Rent it and and see a quality horror film. I think the makers of Blair could double the film's gross by including the disclaimer "This movie features no cast members of Party of Five, Dawson's Creek, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer) on all posters, trailers, and other forms of advertising.

I read somewhere, perhaps on WWF.com in the news section, that Steve Austin is supposed to be in Scream 3. When I went back to the site to verify that I couldnt find the article. Maybe I saw it somewhere else or maybe it was just a nightmare, I dont know. But there you have it newsworthy or not, hopefully someone can verify this.

I could care less about your disclaimer for Blair Witch. Except that you mention Buffy the Vampire Slayer in it. I don't know about those other shows, but don't knock that one. It's a good show. that's all. Just curious what you were getting at.

Buffy the Vampire Skank is such a steaming turd, it's not even funny. The person talking about the Blair Witch Project was just saying that these fuckin' gay Scream-like movies are over the top. I Know Who You Blew Last Summer was a mediocre flick, with the only bright point being Jennifer Love Hewitt's perfectly round breasts bouncing up and down. (I'd love to see her going at it with Catherine Zeta-Jones, by the way--see my Haunting post.) I made the mistake of watching that season finale thatr aired a couple of weeks ago. The CGI on that big bad worm was really really fuckin' bad. It made Starship Troopers look great. Do me a favor and try not to inhale next time...you might save some braincells.

Since I don't buy any B.S. that Claimjumper is feeding us, I'd like to respond to that poster above me, Chief a.k.a. jarjar98. He said some lame things about the Buffy show. Chief, who are you to judge her ?? Is that the purpose of backtalking ? Let's all express rude remarks on other people's favorite shows ? Is that really part of a constructive discussion ? I am not lowering myself to your level of backtalk. Dear Chief, I don't know you so I will not judge you personally. But your opinion about Buffy needs a reply. Buffy is played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, a talented actress who stars in a great show that's funny and scary. A lot of people like that show. I have bought a Buffy T-Shirt and I am proud to wear it !!!!!
