Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman and Akiva Schaffer (of Digital Shorts fame) teaming up for THE ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK!

Published at:  Feb 13, 2009 9:02:40 AM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Universal apparently forked over more than a million bucks for THE ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK written by Jonah Hill, Matt Spicer and Max Winkler. It looks like a package deal with Jason Schwartzman and Hill attached to star and Akiva Schaffer looking to direct. Schaffer helmed the underappreciated HOT ROD and directs most of the SNL Digital Shorts, which are THE reason to watch SNL nowadays.

Anyway, the flick is about four friends who go on a global adventure, following in the footsteps of a group of hardcore explorers who are written about by Michael Conefrey in a novel by the same name.

Sounds like perfect mix of concept and people. I could watch Jonah Hill ride a bus for 2 hours and I'm sure he'd make it hilarious. What do you folks think?

    I think

    by jor-el23

That Jonah Hill is the least funny of anyone, male or female, in the Apatowverse. I know this isn't an Apatow movie though.

the whole "Apatowverse", being relevant to my interests I thought I would have loved Pineapple Express, but aside from a few laughs I thought it was a mess.

    I have to say

    by haggardatbest

that I wrote off 'Hot Rod' before I saw it, and now I love it. LOVE IT. Love Isla Fisher, love the dancing guy, even love Danny McBride playing the same character he always plays. It's like 'Billy Madison' era Sandler. If you like that sort of thing.

Anyone named Futureman is OK in my book

But you might want to cool it with the 'Keev' business.

I'm no internet fanboy troll hater...

    by benito

I mean I know I'll be accuse of being one because of what I'm about to say. ...But, Jonah Hill is not just unfunny. He is NEGATIVE funny. He is the ANTI funny. Whatever funny is, he is the total diametric opposite of it. Why Jason Schwartzman, who was in Rushmore (ie, the funniest movie ever next to Ghostbusters) would go anywhere NEAR this guy is absolutely beyond me. I suppose money had something to do with it. Urgh... I literally cannot stand Jonah Hill. He and his pathetic, obnoxious, yell a lot while swearing schtick make me want to punch him in his unfunny face every time he's onscreen. He is THAT BAD at his job. That this guy has any kind of success whatsoever as a comedian is an indictment on our entire culture, and I would like nothing more than to see his career whither and die. Not because I want him to suffer... but because it would give me some hop for the future of comedy, pop culture, the movies, and humanity in general. So there.

    Spelling corrections!

    by benito

Make that 'accused' and 'hope'. Jonah Hill is so unfunny I can't spell correctly when thinking about him, because my brain is leaking out of my ears from contemplating the sheer paradox of his having a career.
