‘And I Can Prove It!!’ Clips From LOST 5.5!!
I am – Hercules!!
ABC says of tonight’s episode, titled “This Place Is Death”:
Locke takes on the burden to stop the island's increasingly violent shifts through time. Meanwhile, Ben hits a roadblock in his attempt to reunite the Oceanic 6 and bring them back to the island. Guest starring are Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis, John Terry as Christian Shephard, Fionnula Flanagan as Eloise Hawking, William Blanchett as Aaron, June Kyoko Lu as Mrs. Paik, Melissa Farman as young Frenchwoman, Guillaume Dabinpons as Frenchman #1, Marc Menard as Frenchman #2, Bruno Bruni as Frenchman #3 and Jaymie Kim as Ji Yeon. "This Place is Death" was written by Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz and directed by Paul Edwards.
Thoughts:
1) If Locke manages to stop the island's increasingly violent shifts through time before we learn of Richard Alpert and Smokezilla’s secret origins, I will be peeved.
2) Is Christian Shephard still just a Jack-vision this week or do we get to see him on the island in some past era?
3) Jaymie Kim is at least the third Kim to play a Kwon.
3a) June Kyoto Lu, who plays Sun’s mom for the third time tonight, went by the name “June Kim” from 1962 to 1986. Her “June Kim” phase stretched from four appearances on “Burke’s Law” (she played “girl on beach”) to a prominent role in the series finale of “M*A*S*H” (still the most-watched episode of a TV series ever broadcast). Here she is, all hot and corpselike in a 1965 episode of “I Spy”:

4) Lostpedia posts unanswered questions about Eloise Hawking, none of them being “Isn’t she Daniel Faraday’s mom?”:
How does she see Desmond's/other people's futures?
Who appointed her as a "temporal policeman" and what is her connection to the Island?
Why does she appear in a photo with Brother Campbell?
Did she work in the store the first time Desmond went to buy the ring?
What is her connection to Ben and the Island?

What happened to the good old days of spoilers and invisotext?
-
for eztv to do their stuff. what's the Dead pool betting on who dies this episode? anyone? anyone?.Will hurly still be in that fabulous jumpsuit?
-
Come join us in #room23 to watch at 6. ( click chat above and then /join #room23 )
-
bring it on, baby
-
hurley's jumpsuit was awesome!
-
I wet myself just thinking about it. This show is moving at a great pace now, and every week so far is a solid episode.
-
with the growling is a highly creepy combination.
-
this show has lost it.
-
Oh well...Perhaps the Mighty Hercules is not being afforded advanced screeners by TPTB. And, quite frankly, with all the huge bombshells dropping almost every episode now...I can understand why. It's like we are getting treated to a SEASON'S WORTH of Season Finale shockers week after week.
Well...I successfully stayed un-spoiled for tonite's episode...I'll be joining you guys in AICN Chat (Room 23) around 10pm ET to discuss all relevent mind-blowing events.
Namaste...and GO TEAM VINCENT! -
...thinks anyone cares.
-
obviously enough for you to post a reply!!!
But anyway, here's my real comment: The time travel shit needs to stop. -
All in one episode! How great is that?
-
was the jin and sawyer in the same timezone?
-
It's sad how I schedule my Wednesdays around 9pm. Actually, no it's not. It kind of rules. I love my life. I'm on the verge of tears.
-
We believe Jin was floating inside the 'time shift radius', and has been hopscotching through time with the rest of the Losties. I believe tonight's episode begins with the island in 1988. Where it goes after that is anyone's guess.

I think it's 95% a done deal that Mrs. Eloise Hawking is the blonde, Ellie, from "Jughead." There is still a lot about her history we don't know, but we can say, at least, "She was/is an Other. And as such, used to live on the island."
Also, I read at EW's Doc Jensen column that the words: "Rainier-Canton" were on Ben's van. Anagram for "reincarnation." John Locke... are you really dead? -
but he can't log in with Chrome Browser either. Why AICN no like Nappy? Napoleon Park will stop talking like this now.
-
Ive never been a fan of time travel as a plot device. Mainly because it almost never makes any sense (Star Trek, Terminator come to mind). But Lost at least is handling it in a way that actually follows an elegant logic and doesnt make your head explode: You can't change the past, period! If you go back in time and meet your granddad, then your granddad is gonna remember it. If you exist, that means you can't fuck up the "time-line" in a way that would make you NOT exist.
Follow? -
who were they??!?!?!?!?
-
as my Yahoo! group and as my facebook Yoville avatar name.I'll be sorry to see that name go here at AICN, though. I've been Napoleon Park here for a long time - I posted as NP to the very first Lost talkback and I was hoping to stick around until the last one.Oh well, its the p0rn star name formula - your first pet and the street you first lived on.Napoleon was this huge tom cat I named after the Man from UNCLE and I'm still on Park street. but I also use Pancho Straight, Bimbo Hovey and Felis Lyon. But enough about me. Anybody else watch Heroes, Medium, Fringe or Life On Mars? Hey, LOST isn't the only show I watch or like... it's just THE BEST.
-
And for once, a story is actually EXPLAINED by time travel: we can now infer that Ben/whidmore/richard seem so omniscient because theyve met some of the survivors in the past and it also explains why richard was so interested in Locke when he was a kid.
-
The time travel's not over yet.
-
time travel as deus ex machina = laaaaame. hopefully the writers remain consistent and the show when taken as a whole wont have resorted to it even in hindsight
-
As someone in a Fringe discussion somewhere noticed, Heroes has dealt heavy handedly with time travel in past chapters, Lost is getting into time travel, time travel is part of the set-up on Life On Mars and now Fringe had a character who escaped from prison by teleporting through both space and time.Did I miss any?Remember that guy who kept the Journeyman talkback going single handedly? Wasn't that gotlik? I hope you're happy now; see what you done.
-
I think we can def say it wasn't THEMSELVES. I think we can also rule out the 0-6 having returned to the island to SAVE them...who would probably not start by shooting bullets at them. Especially when they were not being fired upon.
That leaves...um...Hostiles? More Widmore Freighter types? The writers from Heroes?
It's anyone's guess, dude. -
Just like I still call Pa, Pa.

but, as with libby, she will be missed.
-
So we now know that Richard visited Locke at the Hospital and in the Foster home because Locke basically told him to. Im curious if when Young Ben followed his ghost Mom into the woods and met Richard who just happened to be there at the right time & place, could someone have also told Richard about it earlyer so that Richard could have been there to meet young Ben?
-
For all the time travel shows Pancho mentioned, BG will take its turn, too, in the end. Those visions on Earth and all that original "this has happened before" business are two clues of that.
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT
-
to see if Bones or House or something watchable was on before Lost.Apparently Fox is off the air tonight. And no one's paying me the $100,000.00 it would take to get me to watch that Old Christine/Gary Unmarried double feature. (Which is too bad, since Louis-Dreyfus was hot back in her SNL days and Jay Mohr was great on Action.)Yeah, I know, the pop up video version of last weeks Lost is on, but I've already seen that twice this week. I'm a fan, yes, but not a complete fanatic. I can't remember the last time I watched something more than twice in one week... but I think it was a Venture Brothers.
-
UNC/dook at 9, so LOST later. Maybe late tonight or early tomorrow.
-
Fringe was awesome last night. Hope you are watching
-
American Idol is on..... However tomorrow night is the being black and famous awards show.....
-
why does it piss me off so much that Kate doesn't seem to know that as an American, even one on probation, she has a right to face anyone who brings an accusation against her. Especially if a supposed 'court order' is a rsult of it. I have come to terms with the fact that Kate is a complete fucking moron over the past five years, but every time i see this storyline i get infuriated. All she has to do is tell this lawyer to go fuck himself. Obviously it's bullshit, otherwise uhhh..the court might have made her aware of the fact that a judgment was pending against her.
-
wuzzup peoples
-
...there'll be a moment of "... cut to black" and I'll sit back and say "fuck, what an episode" then realize it's just a cut to a commercial break and the episode's only half over.
-
im throwing this outthere and getting other peoples thoughts. anyone else think that Widmore was kicked off the island for using the time differntial between the island and the real world to get himself rich?
-
i was watching action the other day. i've always thought that show was hilarious, and jay mohr was good in it too. he's kinda spotty- gary unmarried was doomed from the start
-
Finally...
-
heck yes
-
seriously...
-
That is what I want to see!
-
My school's tv went out from the part where Rousseau was offered water till the commercial anything major happen?
-
will the running theory that you can't change the past via time travel be blown with Jin back in time, saying things he shouldn't to the French scientists?
This season is really rocking! -
only blonde French girl disappeared then they started to hear noise and they asked Jin what it was and he said "Monster".
-
k thanks
-
The arm ripping off was fucking hilarious.
-
Gotta Eat. Mmmm... French!
-
Still going with Atlantis or Avalon
-
...Never mind. It looks like they did in fact go crazy. HA!
-
remember her claim that her group "Got sick"?
-
love the moments on this show...one of the things i'll miss about this and galactica when they're gone...
-
Loved Sawyers happiness when he saw Jin!
-
would come out of the hole, face Jin, and "see" something in him, indicating he is outside of the time stream.
-
...I'm oh-fucking-kay i just lost my arm, why don't you all risk your lives coming down to get me, the scary monster out of our worst nightmares is gone now!"
I still love you LOST! :) -

Herc, Christian has been seen by people besides Jack..
by i am a machineee
..Last season, Locke talked to him in the cabin, remember? And in a Lost mobisode, we saw Christian tell Vincent to wake Jack up because "he had work to do" (which fits chronologically about 5 minutes before the pilot episode beings).
-
Richard was actually the "older guy" that got Locke's mother pregnant in the first place!?@?!?
ok maybe not -
only bird symbols stood out... So, the smoke monster can take over people's minds...so people's theories that it was time-travelling people correcting past events is wrong then.
-
Sort of like the Terminator.
-
horrible just horrible.
I might skip the rest of the season. -
What was Charlotte saying to Jin?
-
No, Daniel not Jacob is he?
-
I love this show.
-
people would trust Ben.
-
"this season"
-
who is Charlotte's American father?
-
Miles' parents.
-
Hence the foreshadowing of what Jin told Locke to say. Though don't know how to explain Locke being "dead".
-
hey man, the same thing happened to me last week. i couldnt log in and when i tried to reset my password it wouldnt let me for some reason. i racked my brain trying to figure it out. i thought i had been banned; it seemed like the only explanation. finally, i emailed harry and although i never received a reply from him, the problem corrected itself the next day. my suggestion is to email harry so you can get your name back. its worth a try. just ask him if youve been banned and if not will he look into correcting your problem.
-
Lock will have Jin's ring, but isn't 'alive' to tell her that Jin is dead.
-
Feb 11, 2009 8:51:48 PM CST
I was right, whatever they touch goes through timeskip with them
by brokenheath
...the canoes and the rope now. Could Locke's death be due to breaking promise to Jin about not bringing Sun back to the island?
-
I Bet
-
then again, it could be the ring
-
christian kinda bitchslapped Locke right there, lol!
-
How is this ep so far? Is it kicking ass or what?! I won't know for another 2 hrs and it's killing me!!!! The way time travel is killing the losties...
-
It was pretty kickass. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch it for the second time live.
I love time travel. -
We're so smart.
-
Is Faraday's Mom, and seems she's about to lay out a lot of the truth next week.
-
those last 10 minutes of the show were ridiculous. its all set up that makes little sense but wow
-
Forgot about spoiling it for the west coast folks.
-
those last 10 minutes of the show were ridiculous. its all set up that makes little sense but wow
-
OK, we get it with the time shifting already..could we get on with moving the plot? I cant believe it has taken all season just to get this far. At this rate Jack and friends will return to the island on the season finale!! (crap that is what they planned all along??)
-
the first filler episode of the season. That episode reminded me of the first part of last season's finale, all build up, no action. There weren't even any new mysteries to chew on from this week.
-
Rousseau's dude pulling the trigger on her? That was a great twist. I thought it was setting up the "voices" thing to be a sham, then he pulled the trigger on her. Sweet move.
-
So he got Jin's ring. Doesn't mean he's alive of dead. Anyhoo, I really enjoyed this episode. I like the weird ones. We haven't had one of those in a long time. I love finding out that the temple had something to do with the sickness. But I'm worried about next week's episode. That pendulum seemed too Scooby Doo-ish.
-
what is it exactly? I was convinced it was the time travel bullshit that Desmond had. But the French people didn't seem to be having the same symptoms. They were just fucked up.
-
was that Danielle said her team got the sickness and she had to kill them all. So it looks like the temple had some effect on them and they were gonna kill her, so she had to kill them. Like they got possessed or somethin'.
-
Jack's dad came to the island in a coffin and is apparently walking around again.
Looks like Locke will also be coming back to the island in a coffin...
-
It's already been reported that they are filming scenes for this season with the Oceanic SIx crew arriving on the island in the past as new Dharma employees. So, no, it's not going to take until the season ender for them to get back to the island.
And if anybody bothered to watch, Locke FIXED the donkey wheel. No more time skipping. -
i thought the episode was perfectly consistent with the everything that came b4. question is: how and when did locke die? im guessing gangrene. but when? and is ben still full of bullshit, or is he more or less on the level from here on in?
-
it proved that Jin lived through the explosion of the boat and made it to the island which is what Sun didnt know. None of the off-islanders know what happen to anybody on the island after they left.
-
There's an interview with the writers or some EW article where they talk about how the Oceanic 6 are back on the island by episode 11 or 12 I think. They just filmed those episodes and apparently the whole cast was in Hawaii filming...
-
the boat. I totally forgot about all that.
-
The French people don't have symptoms because they're not jumping through time.
As for no mysteries, I thought the reveal (though planted in seeds previously) re: Daniel and Charlotte were very interesting. -
Thanks for the tidbit of info, makes it worth the wait. This is why I love/hate Lost so much....
-
I was surprised to learn that the scooby doo pendulum actually exists as a scientific tool. It's used to prove the earth's rotation.
http://tinyurl.com/alqk8 -
The crying for help from the ruins after Smokie took down the wanna-be member of Cobra Kai (it was the '80's after all - there's no doubt that he would have been yelling for a body bag given half a chance) was ripped off from "The Ruins". That was Smokie mimicking voice to get the rest of them down there.
-
I have a new theory to posit. I think he was probably, at one time, early in his life, on the island and possibly the leader. I think he had to move the island once for some reason, and could never come back, which is why he drank and was miserable his whole life. Then he dies, and he gets to come back in a coffin, just like Locke. Locke will become one of the type of ghosty spirit leaders that Christian is now. I'm not saying I'm definitely right, but I think that Christian telling Locke about thats why they call it a sacrifice fits with it. I was also wondering if they would ever expain why he was so miserable/drunk all the time, and this would do it for me. Just like Widmore, having to leave the island sort of fucks with the rest of your life. Any thoughts?
-
I meant them all standing there while she explains it all teachery was Scooby Doo-ish. Damn. I can't say anything right.
-
He went back to his old job as Cousin Larry and Balki's boss.
-
Where the hell are Rose & Benard during all of this? IMHO They are not Red-Shirts and its going to be a toughie to explain where exactly they have been. I hope they devote a whole ep to Rose & Benard sometime before series end.
Anyway I thought the episode was great. I love how they finally give an explanation to Roussau killing her people, even if we didn't get a FULL flashback ep to cover it. I also like the fact that they kind of gave a little Detail away on Smokey.
Char. I liked the way she explained everything before she died. At least it tied up her story. Now we know poor Daniel is going to try to warn/save her but he will not be able to. Overall great ep, but I sure am missing Hurley..
ROSE & BENARD WHERE ARE YOU! -
You thinking Christian is Jacob?
-
nice cocanuts!
-
It's not a foucault pendulum, for the nth time!
-
I don't think Jacob is a real person, like...physically, a corporeal being with a body. He's a ghost. Christian is maybe like a prophet or something. He had his task, the rest of his life kind of sucked, but in death he gets to come back and be a part of the island again. Because he took his sacrifice like a man. I don't really see how what I said would make him Jacob at all.
-
its looking more and more likely that rose and bernard are the adam and eve in the cave. makes sense they would go somewhere to hide and be safe during the flashes and maybe cuz they are older didnt love thru them die in the cave at some point while the others are in the 70s trying to get back to the present time
-
I think now that Locke has fixed the Frozen Donkey Wheel and the Island is going to stop moving, it is going to stop back in the 70s with the Dharma initiative. Which is going to be awesome. We're going to get to stay in that era for an extended period of time, hanging out with the initiative! All so Daniel can tell Charlotte not to come here and die, even though she will anyway. I can't wait to see him tell her even though he has to be smart enough to know it won't work. Do you think Daniel will try something radical to actually change the future? Can he??
-
expostion. But with Lost that's usually not a bad thing
-
What is this show's obsession with killing people off before they develop their characters? Looks like Libby may have some competition in the Gone Before Their Time category now. Oh, and don't even get me started on the whole "I'm dying in the next scene, so let me spill a whole bunch of backstory, even though I've been on the show for a year and a half and never mentioned it." I HATE this aspect of the show, I always have, and yet they keep doing it. Everything else about the show is fantastic, but the flagrant disposal of their characters irks me.
-
Terry O'Quinn is a genius. He should submit this episode for Emmy consideration. His performance in his last scene was so moving.
-
Maybe they turn out to be the parents of the Mittelos guy hehe.... I don't want them to be the bodies.. I would rather the Bodies be Juliet & Saywers.
-
methinks there is a parallel with the elder Shephard and Locke!!
-
I read about that on lostpedia. I blame them for all your irritation.
-
i am glad i didnt read the spoiler that was just posted. i want to be surprised. theories are great, but i try to stay away from the blatant spoilers. i cant wait until the tb is off of the radar in a few days.
-
I brought up a similar concept of parallels between Shephard and Locke, but by then all were too jaded to come up with theories.
wanna share some theories on the Locke-Shephard connection? -
brought it up in previous ep's talkback, or one before that, I think.
-
Still old buddy......
-
thanx for the tip. I'll try that. Hope Harry's not mad that I invited him to be in my Yoville crew on facebook.
-
but heyseuss marimba is this show fast paced this year or what? Yes, a lot of Charlotte's story came spilling out all at once - well, sometimes people make deathbed confessions. And they also wrapped up a lot of the Rousseau backstory people had been clamoring for. The sickness, the death of her group, her belief that Smokey was a security system, which was just something someone told her when she was already going a little crazy.
-
last time, about how physical objects you're in contact with travel with you when you time jump. Still, pretty soon the slow kids will be asking why the rope to nowhere traveled with Sawyer. Because he was holding it, slow kids. Even when it moved back to a time before the well was dug.
-
I don't really have any more theories or connections to the Locke/Christian connection. I was just thinking more on Christian as a character, and how in the first season he was always just this demeaning jerk to Jack telling him constantly he "doesn't have what it takes." I'm thinking maybe now he says this cause he's all bitter/proud of how hard it was for him to do what it took to leave the island and everything he cared about behind? Maybe he even knew that Jack would go to the Island one day and not realize he's meant to stay there? Who knows. Crazy stuff.
-
A lot of the romantic lush musical passages this year very strongly remind me of Twin Peaks and I don't think that's a coincidence or an accident.I don't remember the white flashes screeching quite so harshly before. Screeching lights, people pulled into the dirt, Smokey howling and tossing people and acting it's most monsterous since the pilot episode, flies buzzing over dead bodies, dried and dessicated torn off arms - this was the most David Lynch like episode ever. Lynchian, Lynch-esque, whatever. And I totally mean that in a good way.
-
Jin gave Locke his wedding ring to prove to sun he was dead so she'd stay away from the island - Ben uses it to prove that he's alive in order to get her to return to the island. Leave it to Ben to get 180 degrees away from the truth without lying.
-
Around the time that the gang turned up at the Orchid, there was this loud orchestral score in the background. Seemed out of place. Is it just me?
-
Feb 11, 2009 10:40:19 PM CST
anyone checked out the missing foot post on docarzt's blog?
by onezeroone
could it be a clue to 4 toed statue?
-
maybe Christian was chastising Jack for not 'having what it takes' to be the leader? Early seasons *were* about Locke vs Jack as leaders... Man of Faith vs Man of Science. Shephard saw Jack just didn't have enough faith. In a way, you can say Shephard is both Locke and Jack in one in terms of those qualities.
-
looks like Sayid wants nothing to do with Jack or Ben and there's no way Kate would want to return to the island, let alone take Aaron. No way Sun would abandon Yi Jeon is she knew if she returned to the island she could never leave again. And Dan's mom, who was warning that everybody has to go back or bad things will ensue, now seems willing to take half the crew and see what happens.I'm sure that everyone will eventually get together and go back, but a few years ago it would have been the main plot and taken all season - at the pace the show is moving now, it could be Hurley yelling "Okay, we're all set, let's go" any episode now. They just have to get Lapidus and Walt - that's "everybody". Unless you count Yi Jeon as having been on the island when she was fetal, then she'd have to go back too.
-
This may be unimportant, but does the frozen donkey wheel require a blood sacrifice to work? Ben had his arm slashed when he fell down the broken ladder, John shattered a leg when he fell down the well. Is it the blood, the pain... or the fall? Or are all three elements necesary?
-
I didn't take it that she was going to send half the people back to the island. I think she was just going to go ahead and tell them what she needed to tell them, even though everyone wasn't there.
-
A very interesting point. I think maybe its just supposed to be symbolic of the sacrifice about to be taken. One last trial, like really asking you, are you sure you want to keep going? Either way, its a good observation I hadn't thought of
-
I mean I know how, it's because they're whiney bitches who are never happy. There are still 12 episodes left and I think a lot has already happened.
-
*zips up his yellow dharma moonsuit*
-
....like Locke didn't have much of a tenure as the Others' leader? Assuming what it looks like, that Lock will go back in a coffin and become C. Shepard-esque, ghost or whatever he is, Locke never really gets to be a group leader in the way that Ben was.
-
Into Leadership. Every one seems to believe he wasn't worthy or selected, including Christian and Widmore. Also, Jacob did utter "Help Me" remember???
-
Just before the gang in 2007 entered the church, a lingering shot was shown of the truck Ben was driving. On it was the name Canton-Rainier Dry cleaning. Canton-Rainier is an anagram for Reincarnation. I wonder if John Locke is getting reincarnated soon? Remember in the season 3 finale that the name of the funeral home was an anagram of "flash forward." Wonder if the lost producers are pulling the same trick.
-
Great name for an avant garde jazz ensemble.
-
Great stuff.
-
is it pain and damage, or something to do with fact that Locke couldn't walk when he came to the Island so Island taking back [in a way] what it gave to Locke?
-
it was always there and I never noticed, unless docArzt put up a photoshopped version on his blog.
-
the Canton-Rainier thing on the van being a jumble for re-incarnation? I didn't notice.
-
sorry Darth Bob.
-
One of the best episodes of Lost in my opinion. Definitely the best of the season so far.
* Some people might be upset that we didn't get to see more of Danielle's story. I feel like we saw enough. We know the Others came and took Alex. We don't need to see that, it's what they do.
* Favorite Ben scene ever is when he slams the breaks and nearly starts crying. I was laughing it was so twisted and funny. It must be hard to be Ben where you know so much but can't tell anyone anything.
* I like how Desmond showed up at the end. I thought it would be funny if Miss Hawking added "You didn't bring all of them. But Desmond? Sorry Des, we don't really need you here."
* Charlotte's death was terrific. I really had no idea she was going to die. Lost handles character death's so well because you don't see them coming. This way, when the characters are in peril you feel for them because they might actually die.
* I hope you all appreciated how many references to Danielle's story there were that harken back to the first season. Her reference to Smokey as a security system, why she's afraid of the dark territory, etc. By the way, I would not assume that Smokey really is a "security system" just because Danielle says so. That's just how they see it, may not be true.
-
Let me get the immodesty out of the way. As some of you hopefully noticed, I'm a massive Lost dork and pretty savvy with what's going on with the show. But as ridiculous as it sounds even I'm starting to think...aliens? Just because I can't really think of many other explanations.
The wheel, the temple, the ruins, Ben's secret room, the smoke monster. What natives made these things? Where did they come from? It must have been something strange and advanced. So either people from the future, or people from another world. I know it's cheesey, but my point is that it's pretty hard to think of an alternate explanation. Go ahead and try. -
with the creator's comments lately that they are going to let their Geek Flag fly from now until the end, I don't really know if you can rule anything out at this point.
-
I just got finished watching it!
-
That book popped up quite a bit last season. Could Smokey be part of a computer system that stores dead people? IE: Christian Shephard, Yemi, Charlie? If that's the case than Locke might get absorbed into it once his body returns to the island. Which might be how we finally learn WTF Smokey is.
-
creators revealed long time ago that their name for Smokey is Cereberus [as in 3 headed dog]. and we all know what Cereberus' job was.
-
do you think they will tie it into Star Trek somehow? think about it. not sure how it will fare on geeky cool meter, but a thought (:
-
To drive Dave Sim insane?(sorry.)
-
I believe that I recently posted something on Room 23 that said that we are going to get more Danielle history. Whither the group is still jumping around or stuck in one place (depending on when I can still see that as a possibility.
-
I think Dave drove himself there. "One less mouth to feed is one less mouth to feed!"
-
Locke fixed the time skipping, presumably leaving them at the time they were last in. A time that pre-dates Dharma, because the Orchid station wasn't built yet.
So, one guess would be that we see the beginnings of Dharma on the island. This would tie in to what has been said of how and WHEN the 06 get back to the island. -
...are they going to explain how Jack's Father is really the long-lost brother of Voltan in the distant past? Are the Island's magic ruins left over from the Time of Evil? Could Ben be the reincarnation of Zoltan, and is really Jack's Uncle?
-
Good book for LOST what-iffing.
-
It doesn't necessarily mean that Locke stopped the time skipping at a pre-Dharma time. Remember, as he's having his little pow-wow with Christian Shepherd, the donkey wheel flashes. Each time it shifts and flashes COULD represent a jump. Who knows WHEN in time they actually stopped skipping. And maybe they didn't stop skipping, since Locke would have to know first when in time they'd be stopped. How would it help them if he got them stuck in gthe 1950's? Locke's all about helping them. So maybe he's just down there turning the wheel to get OFF the island, but not to stop the skipping....that's why he needs Eloise.
-
All this talk about how the past can't be changed--I always think that's b.s. (assuming you could actually time travel), and tonight I think the show agreed with me somewhat. When Charlotte told Daniel about him warning her to leave the island or she'd die-it seemed like a memory she got all of a sudden like when Desmond remembered Faraday telling him to find his mom. I think Faraday scared Charlotte and her mom and convinced them to get off the island, thereby saving her from the great Dharma massacre. Now of course she did die on the island eventually, but that's just because she didn't heed his warning to never come back.
-
...Cerberus. Only the super fans know that...
I'd give you more props if you had managed to spell it right. -
for his deceitful ways, shiftyness, vindictiveness, violent temper, disregard for others safety or feelings, for all his flaws... is it still possibly that maybe Ben Linus really does believe that he's one of the good guys?"If you only knew how much I've done to try to keep you and your friends safe." Could he really believe that?
-
Christian pretty much tells Locke that he just needs to give it a nudge to stop the skipping. A bigger question is why Locke needed to be the one to push it the first time? Why did he need to leave, die and come back?
-
Not only was he the guardian of the gates TO Hades, his job was also to stop spirits from getting OUT of Hades. Also - Cerberus was a three headed dog, and Smokey seems to be (at times) comprised of three smaller smoke streams that join together to form the big magilla we saw tonight.
-
Great.
-
it doesn't work that way. Now poor Dan is doomed to eventually find the younger Charlotte and plead and implore with her to never return to the island, all the while knowing that... she did.
-
I think there is evidence of that. When he tells meat lady to lay off Jack, he's been through a lot. Whenhe and Hawking were alone an episode or two ago, they did seem to be genuinely concerned about stopping something horrible.
-
Jin gave his ring to Locke to use as proof that he was dead. Ben winds up with it and uses it to convince sun that Jin is alive. So what I wonder is, did Locke tell Ben that Jin was alive? Or did Locke tell Ben that Jin was dead, and Ben lied to Sun to save his own life?
-
Hey, somebody better be!!
I think the title of this episode should have been "Rousseau Begins". Great origin story. Smokie caused her team's 'sickness'? How come it didn't make any of the Losties sick? Or...was there something else in the temple that made them sick? Funny how Rousseau's team, and the Losties team had parallel experiences in their first moments on the island...using their radio's to pick up the transmission from the radio tower 16 years apart.
Wow...Charlotte's dead...Man...You know how hard it is to find a chick that can speak Klingon? She will be missed. How does daniel not remember telling Charlotte she needed to leave the island and never come back?
Sawyer's glee in finding Jin was hysterical! He was so happy he didn't even call him by a nickname. I also loved Miles' line "I think you can let that go now" when Sawyer was holding the rope leading into the dirt.
So...the FDW obviously pre-dates Dharma...which means it pre-dates "Jughead's" arrival. So...are we to suspect an ancient civilization built it? For what purpose? What 'power' is the FDW harrnessing if it wasn't created by Dharma? Please don't say 'aliens'...or I'll point you to the disappointment with the last Indiana Jones debacle.
Looks like next week's episode will indeed be LOST's "Jump The Shark" moment of truth. Ya get the feeling Mrs. Hawking is about to spill some pretty huge beans about the island? I think some of those beans may prove to be tough to swallow for many. I'm hoping that they 'get it right'.
I was laughing, too, Ravetin. Every time they would go to commercial...I kept expecting the [POOM] LOST endplate to pop up...and then I realized there was still 25 minutes left in the show! After 4 season's of being spoon fed tiny portion's of WTF? moments...every scene THIS season is a HOLY FUCK moment. Thank, Jacob (Christian) they set an end date for this show. The episodes are just flying by now.
I hope we see Rose, Bernie & Vincent next week. Their absence is starting to become glaring. -
I know the "nothing major happened" guy is just goofing around, but actually, considering how much slower paced this series used to be, it's amazing how much happened. One of the minor but popular science team characters died after revealing part of her back story. The Mysteries about Rousseau and her group and the idea that Smokey is a 'security system" dating back to season one were resolved.Jin explained in plain terms how he survived the explosion: "Not on boat, in water." and he was eventually reunited with Sawyer, Locke and the science team. In a slightly clunky bit of exposition Sawyer spelled out exactly how the white flashes had been making them time skip - in a way that freaked Jin out and made him revert to yelling in Korean. The fact that Charlotte speaks Korean was kinda pointless, but useful and interesting. And I don;t think she was joking when she said she also speaks Klingon. No, it's not the Abrams Trek crossover someone asked about up above, but it is interesting to know that she was a Trekkie and a sci-fi geek. The identity of Faraday's mother - widely assumed already by the folks here - was confirmed. We saw and heard a rampaging and growling, howling Smoke Monster at the most monsterous it's been since episode one. And we once again saw the Frozen Donkey wheel. And Christian Shepherd. And one person above guessed that the broken leg or an infection or other complications from it may be Jeremy Bentham's cause of death - though I'm not certain of that, since he did seem to get around a lot to talk to all the people who said he came to see them. And, hey, if the FDW does for John what it did for Ben, we know how he got off the island. If that's anyone's idea of pretty much nothing, I'd like to know what they would consider a major happening. I mean, if next week the entire Oceanic Six got on a boat, sailed back to the island, reunited with the rest of the 815 survivors, and then the buried Atomic Bomb went off and everyone died, would that be enough for you?The problem is, that would kinda leave what to do with season six up in the air, wouldn't it?Really, this show that people here used to complain about because it never gave any answers - or that they were too slow in coming - seems to be bombarding us with new information faster than we can assimilate it all lately.
-
You make a lot of very good points but were joking or you missed something. How could Daniel remember warning Charlotte not to ever return to the island... when he hasn't done it yet?
-
"You need to find my mother Eloise Hawking." instead of "You need to find my mother." "Who?" TIME JUMP!!!!"Say hi to my son Jack for me" instead of "Say hi to my son"..."Who?" TIME JUMP!!!!Christ, I know it's a plot contrivance but twice???? Puh-lease. p.s. I love the show, minor nitpick.
-
Cuz...that compound fracture is gonna cost a bundle to get patched up! He better hope he doesn't time leap into the middle of a frickin' desert somewhere like Ben did.
-
Feb 12, 2009 1:48:18 AM CST
And next week, according to credits, we see the return of...
by executor
...slight spoiler, if you don't know...
.
Jeff Fahey/Frank Lapidus -
a little far fetched that Jin was thrown off of the frieghter by the explosion rather then being blown up. But thats a very very minor nitpick.
-
after turning the wheel? Why do you think that Ben landed in the desert rather then some where else?
-
yes...I did miss something...You're right about Daniel's memory lapse...He HASN'T warned her yet. I was assuming when he was back in the '70's Dharma excavation in the season premiere, that's when he would have done the 'warning' part to Charlotte, but, we just didn't get to see it. But...you're right...he probably hasn't met the young Charlotte yet.
That said...will he still warn her...knowing that she eventually WILL return to the island and die in his arms? If he can't (obviously) change the future...will he bother?
Loved that Charlotte is a big fan of Geronimo Jackson! I think that is a sign of where they are headed next. -
Some people here seem to like the idea that by moving the Frozen Donkey Wheel John got off the island (apparently in the present or near past, so he could go visit the O-6ers to try to convince them to return to the island) but that Sawyer and the science team got stuck in the past when the FDW caused the time skips to stop. It's an interesting sci-fi idea but I don't think so, and I'm not sure where people got that idea from. Sounds like someone thought up a cool fan fic idea, tossed it out there and some people grabbed onto it.I don't like it because if the O-6 to return to the island to save their friends but can't find them because they're trapped in the past, well, what kind of ending is that? But for the sake of playing along, let's say it's true and Sawyer, Miles, Juliet, Daniel and dead Charlotte are stuck in the '50s, the time skips have stopped and the donkey wheel is stable. Well, in the '50s Charles Widmore was still on the island, and we know that he's off it now and can never return, and we know that people who use the FDW to leave can never return... so clearly Charles Widmore uses/used/will use/will have used the Wheel to move the island, is banished for doing so, and at that point the time skipping resumes, affecting anyone who the island feels is not in their own proper time. During one of these time skips Daniel Faraday meets up with the young Charlotte and warns her that once she leaves the island she must never return or she will die. Then, Sawyer and group gets sent back to the present in order to eventually be reunited with the returning Oceanic Six.Of course then one person has to move the wheel again to hide the island from Widmore and stop the time skipping again. And if it can only be one person, it can't be Kate and Aaron, or Jin and Sun. So who makes the final sacrifice and gets sent off the island? Hurley? Miles? Sawyer? Jack?
-
Because of CB's complaining about so many poll's earlyer I created 4 poll's this week. Actually it didn't have anything to do with CB, There was just so many things that I wanted to poll about. I also made a Poll post so that people could leave comments on Other selections and talk about why they choose what they choose.
-
Of course Daniel will warn little Charlotte that is she leaves the island she must never return or she will die. He loves her and desperately wants to save her. And he HAS To do it... because she remembered that he did.
-
I have not read or heard this possible theory...so I just want to get this on the record...because I am right. The island is Atlantis...which had all kinds of incredible technology...and disappeared in a single night. Why? Because the people had become to venal. Oh, like THE OTHERS. Too big to fail. This would explain damn near everything from the writing, to the foot, to the morality play in constant motion. Many people believe that Atlanteans were a superior race of either ancient Earthians...um...er...or aliens. So, idiot present day Darmians find what is left of the tech and the structure of the island...and deem themselves smart enough to conquer its secrets...and BOY did THAT work out well. For all we know, the entire island is a ship underneath from a million years ago. Maybe some kind of alien terraforming platform gone awry. It sure would explain the crazy magnetism waves which could cause catastrophy...but under control...could cause temporal shifts in time. Bending and tearing of space CAN be accomplished...ala a black hole...but it needs MASSIVE amounts of energy...thus the superstructure/ship theory. The tech underlying leads to Christian/Jacob/Charlie holograms, AI, etc. Tell me a single thing that has happened in Lost which cannot be explained by this theory. Challenge me if you dare!!!
Oh yes...for you challengers out there who think they got me...Richard is a $#@&% android. Duh! -
turns the wheel in the correct way he won't get banished?
-
Seriously. C'mon. Who else is immediately regretting getting into this show before it ended? I've stuck with this since SEASON ONE. FML.
-
But the Polar Bear landed in the desert, too. I think it would be cool as hell if Locke time leaped into the middle of a fierce desert war...bullets and explosions going off all around him...a soldier runs up to him... sees his compound fracture..."You okay, man?!"...."Where am I" is all John can manage..."Wait here...I'll call a medic"...the soldier runs a few steps away from Locke...and get's vaporized by an RPG....very Arzt like. Locke crawls over to the steamy remains...and all he finds is the guys dog tags...John pulls them up to his face...and reads the name...
"Jeremy Bentham".
Locke puts the dog tags around his neck...and watches as F-16 flight low overhead and obliterate the fast approaching enemy...John looks at the huge explosions off in the distance...he sees the medic squad approaching from the rear. John passes out.
[POOM]
Oh...wait...there's still 48 minutes left in the episode!!! -
Since we most likely will see young Charlotte when Daniel tells her to leave, I would bet that we will get to see older Charlotte again, but before returning to the island. Who knows Darlton did talk about some exceptions to the rules. We are seeing that Daniel did charnge things a little by telling Desmond to find his Mother. So maybe there will be some sort of change to prevent her from dying or even bring her back to life?
-
The smoke monster is obviously nanotech protecting the base computer.
-
the time skipping will not stop until the Oceanic 6 return to the island...Locke turning the wheel will not stop it...just as when Ben turned the wheel
-
surprised no one has mentioned the scene when Locke asks for Christian's help in getting up but he said he could not help him...so no physical contact...the dead cannot touch the living?
-
you all know it to be so...that balloon knocked up a cigar and smokey was born
-
apart from the crappy .mkv versions. and to top it off microsoft updates forced my machine to reboot during the night. Damm you michael bay!
-
Interesting, though it needs to explain how their fates were intertwined pre-island (characters near-missing/meeting in their flashbacks). Unless the explosion sent waves back through time, twisting their destinies together.
-
Late 70s, right? I'm thinking 1979. But could be early 80s. It all depends on when Charlotte was actually born. Ben claimed she was born in 1979, but that has to be wrong, based on the timeline.
But assuming they're in late 70s, this means:
1. Charlotte as a kid
2. Ben as a kid.
3. Dr Chang/Marvin Candle as a character for the Left Behinders to interact with.
4. NO Danielle, she hasn't arrived yet.
5. We'll see The Incident, which was the reason the Swan was built.
6. More of Ben's friend Annie.
7. Something with the volcano?
8. More Richard, as he's still leading the Hostiles at this point. -
Charlotte's woozy comment "I know Carthage better than Hannibal" seemed...oddly important. Is it a coincidence that she found the polar bear remains in the Sahara Desert (where Ben was also teleported by the wheel) and that 40% of Tunisia, the modern-day country where ancient Carthage was located, is Saharan desert land? I don't doubt Locke will wind up in the Sahara like Ben and the polar bears. Could the "ancient" civilization be Carthaginian/Phoenician? It shouldn't go unnoticed that some occultists connect the sea-faring Phoenicians with Atlantis, either claiming the Phoenicians inspired the Atlantis myth or that the Phoenicians were literally descendents of Atlanteans. As for Miles, I assumed he was Dr. Marvin Candle/Dr. Mark Wickmund/Dr. Edgar Halliwax/Dr. Pierre Chang's kid, not Yi Jeon and Aaron's. And I'm thinking Farraday = Charlotte's "Scary Old Man" = Jacob...maybe.
-
this season. I have been watching since the start. Will have to get Seasons 4 and 5 on dvd.
-
[baddum-bump] The days of "nothing happens" seems so long ago. Setting the end date is the best thing to ever happen to the show. Young Danielle is quite fetching. Hope she sticks around.
-
Mader left the show to film a movie with George Clooney
-
get a helmet as well...
-
when sun received the gun, why did she not eat any of the chocolates in the box it came with? Yay the 350mb torrent links are up!
-
c'mon jack and sun, it's been 3 years, the least you could do is give a handshake
-
I've been wondering where Locke is going to wind up as well. And when, too.
-
"This is the best I could do."
"Whatever. Let's just move the plot along." -
That's payoff to anyone who was paying attention to Danielle during season 1. We've been waiting for that shit for a long time! So awesome... Montand was a dick... and dicks get it the worst on the island! Frogurt, Arzt, Nikki/Paulo, etc.
So was that THE temple? The one where the Others were going to back in season 3/4? And the sickness... nice to see it was real and not just a dropped plot point. Wonder what caused it... and it's interesting that the Danielle's teammates explained that the Monster was the security system used to protect the temple... maybe they went down the hole and saw what the monster truly looks like. Up until now, I think we've only seen it's tendrils/arms... We have yet to see the "core" or body of it. -
That would be very... circular...!
-
you're barking up the wrong tree brotha...
danielle went mental after that initial smokie attack, she *thought* people we're sick when they weren't... the most telling part of that flashback was the second one with Jin, where he tried to shoot her but was out of ammo (remind you of anything?), danielle shot him because she was already over the edge and he also tried to shoot her. *NO* sickness.
Also that wasn't *the* temple, we just know that the orchid and cerberus go back far before dharma, which is quite interesting. -
First, loved it...even if it was nearly 11:30 before I started watching it. Stupid sports.
Go Heels, BTW.
The sickness - maybe it's brainwashing. Seems what we saw was a guy at peace defending what Danielle thought to be a monster. Then when she started to believe him, he pulls his trigger to kill here/defend it. Maybe they all were sent to Room 23 and this is how they came out.
BTW, his gun didn't work because Danielle lives longer, so the gun couldn't work/she couldn't die...yet.
The hieroglyphics. "I know Carthage better than Hannibal." The temple (we think) in ruins. This has to be a powerful aincient civiliazation that was capable of time travel, a mystical cloud/smoke-like "security system", and who knows what else. I know where my mind goes when I think of this. I'll leave your mind to make its own conclusions.
Daniel - is he another Richard? We've seen him at Oxford, building the Orchid and in recent times. I haven't seen him age. Reaching here, but....
If Sun had pulled the trigger would the gun have fired? I doubt it. That may be the reason Ben was so "shoot me" after slamming on brakes...because it's not his time to die.
I think Locke fixing the wheel may have fixed the violent timeshifts (i.e. the one's happenning back to back), but stopped them? I doubt it. I don't see the O6 going back and being in a different time on the same place. We still need the Dharma story too, so I think we're gonna get shifts for awhile.
I'm torn between 2 thoughts on why Christian didn't help Lock.
1 - He's dead and/or not coporeal
2 - If he helped he'd leave the island too
Juliet is still way too calm for my comfort level here. There's something up with that, but I don't know what. She is showing a bit of strain/stress last night, but seems it's more because of the timeshifts themselves rather than hating them or being confused by them, etc.
That's all for now. maybe more after the next viewing.
-
another brilliant episode and am with a few others when I can't understand how some say nothing happened. Especially yeah for Smokey and Christian
-
A season 5 or 6 event ?
-
The reason Robert's gun didn't go off is because Danielle removed the firing pin prior to him using it, according to what she said to Sayid in Season 1.
-
by the whole time travel issue. When they were banging on the station to get Desmond to come out, Faraday said he wouldn't, because they hadn't met until years later ... and nothing you could do would change that. Yet Jin went back in time and interacted with Rousseau directly, yet when she "met" him for the first time 16 years later, there was no recognition by either of them. How's that ? Unless they were never actually in a scene together in "present day" (which is possible - I can't really recall if Rousseau was face to face with Jin before). And for that matter, if Jin was on the Island in 1988, how does he not remember it before crashing there in 2004 ? Sheesh. Anyway, still pretty awesome episode. Can't believe how consistantly good this series has been this season. No Takes a Shit Guy this year, that's for sure.
-
wouldn't you have at least thought of lifting up Charlotte's shirt and looking at her boobies after she died ? I mean, what's the harm ?
-
Wondering how many people were actually suprised about the reveal of Hawking being Faraday's mum, can't imagine too many in this site were suprised.
-
who says romance is dead
-
She should still be fresh by then. Heeeeyyyyy-O !!!!!!!!
-
in my "strong" days I used to save up several Lost episodes to watch them all at once. was a great way to view it, but now I need a weekly fix.
-
definetely a yummy mummy
-
...while The Office talkback is up first thing Thursday morning?
-
Since she speaks Klingon, I imagine she'd be a bit pissed at how she died. Hopefully she gives Miles an earful about it in an upcoming episode.
-
Bummer. I hate when hot chicks leave the show. Luckily she's being replaced immediately by Ilana in the next episode.
-
I'm not claiming this is an original observation, but other websites are saying that the voice reading the numbers ("4, 8, 15, 16,...") on the broadcast that the French team picked up? Was that Hurley?
-
I'll admit right off that Charlotte suddenly remembering the warning had a bit in common with Desmond suddenly remembering, so that's a bit of an X factor... That being said, let's just assume (for now) that it was run-of-the-mill forgetfulness (or maybe a "normal" course correction, whatever). Daniel can't change the past. No warning will work. IF Desmond get's pulled back into this and IF he ends up time skipping, could Daniel have *Desmond* warn her instead, thus creating the chance that she could remember.
-
Think of it this way. Jin is in 2004 (or 2005 or whenever the plane crahed) while, technically, he is time traveling he is locked in the present. Danielle wouldn't remember meeting him in the past UNTIL she reached the point in time in which he began travelling through time. Of course, she's dead and never made it to the present - so that won't happen. Same thing with Ethan not "remembering" Locke. So, you can travel through time, but if you begin traveling in the year 2008, people you meet in the past won't remember meeting you until 2008 when you started to time travel.
I think. -
Sigh...So we still don't know what it is? Jesus, what was the point of this episode then? To show us another facet of Smokey? That it is apparently a "security system" guarding the temple? But if that is true then why does Smokey attack regardless of one's proximity to the temple? And was that Smokey indeed mimicking Montand's voice ala The Ruins as someone stated earlier? Does Smokey control people's minds or was that not Robert at all and just a phantom ala Yemi?
-
Jeez...it's flyin by now! Quite frankly...I think Ben & Eloise KNEW that getting this bunch of 0-6'ers to ALL commit to a trip back to Craphole Island was gonna take some doing. Heck...Hurley is still in the pokey. I think Ben & Hawking's plan was to get as many of them as they could...give them a look see at the pendulum map room...telll them some hocus pocus stuff...get THEM convinced...so they can help recruit the hold outs in Sayid, Hurley & Kate.
They knew Ben & Locke (Bentham) failed to convince them...so they had to start recruiting from within...all they had to do was get a bunch of them in that map room for a lil "Orientation".
There's still about 4 more episodes until we see an 0-6'er step foot back on that island. I think the Losties will have stuff to do in the real world before they ever start trying to get back to the island. -
Ooo and it's alright and it's comin' 'long
We got to get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We got to get right back to where we started from
And it though technically not a spoiler..but extrapolated speculation..be warned
In the Mobisode on DVD S4.."Desert Stash"..the bit with Ben in the Tunisian Desert after he smacked down the Bedou, rode off on the pretty pony..to the..wait for it
The Well..same well that was on island that John went down..and retrieved his legend and cash and what nots. Right before he grabs them he turns about and looks briefly on a sprawled body about 10 meters away..dressed in Gray dungarees, brown shoes, Dharma Parka and a funny hat..it looks like Locke. But, and more importantly yet, since Locke was wearing none of these items when turned the FDW back last night, it would seem possibly potentially probable that John Locke is going to get a second chance at doing it right..this time...hmmm.
Oh-ohhhhh
Do you remember that day
(That sunny day)
When you first came my way
I said no one could take your place
And if you get hurt
(If you get hurt)
By the little things I say
I can put that smile back on your face
Ooo and it's alright and it's comin' 'long
We got to get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We got to get right back to where we started from
I really wish Doc Jensen would quit re-purposing my Jinn theory..it, like my verbose posts..tiresome. -
I'm sorry, but that appellation is one of the reasons I love you Lost talkbackers!!
-
I had assumed the Wheel and Well were built by the ancient natives before Dharma. But when they flash for the last time, the well is gone but obviously the wheel is still there. So how did that wheel get down there... or was it always there?
-
I had assumed the Wheel and Well were built by the ancient natives before Dharma. But when they flash for the last time, the well is gone but obviously the wheel is still there. So how did that wheel get down there... or was it always there?
-
I'm starting to come around to that same notion regarding memories of interacting with futurefolk (sinking my own "time edit" theory, possibly). We don't have enough data just yet, and Richard seems to remember OK (but Richard is far from normal). We will see.
-
"There's still about 4 more episodes until we see an 0-6'er step foot back on that island."
I don't think so. Just based o n the promo next week I think they get back in the next episode. Was that not Jack jumping from the top of the waterfall? -
Just becasue the well was gone doesn't mean they moved back in time. That well could have been filled in at some point after the wheel was installed.
-
I agree with HoboCode... I think the idea is to end the episode with it a bit ambiguous. It could be either. Personally, I hope the past, but that's just preference.
-
Jin was awesome - we got less talking about what's happening and more of us getting to see what's unfolding (or has unfolded) on the island. Keep this up, show runners - the actors can get everything across without having to spout lots of exposition. Charlotte dying is fine by me - she stopped being interesting when she stopped being a potential threat to the Losties. Now let's get rid of Juliet before she turns Sawyer into her lap dog. Only beef? I'd like to see the original Rousseau actress again, and was hoping we would when Jin found the music box and bag.
-
great episode! lots of cool things, lots of action, some evil smokey arm ripping, and my fave line: "Uhh, he's Korean. I'm from Encino." gotta love Miles
-
ahahaha. my eyes are watering hadnt heard that b4. seriously tho, for a soulless ginger, shes pretty hot.
-
If we knew what the Wheel was and WHO built the dam thing, we'd know pretty much everything about everything. im guessing.
-
I think it's over spreaded, Ijust hope they won't get back the bad habits from the three first seasons.
-
Doesn't the wheel look like a steering wheel that would be on a sailing ship like the Black Rock?
-
That was my favorite line as well. How's my Lost wife doing lately?
-
Because, that was a Foucalt Pendulum?
-
Because that was a Foucalt pendulum
-
I think that's something that desperately needs to be done on the show. Didn't the blast door map show all kinds of tunnels running underground and between the different stations?
-
"Doesn't the wheel look like a steering wheel that would be on a sailing ship like the Black Rock?" The shape is roughly right and I'm not sure of the material (looks metal, not wooden) and seems a bit too big (imagine it upright).
-
It's possible that people built the well, got down in there, built the wheel. Then at some later point decided to remove the well, presumably so people wouldn't go screwing around down there.
-
Hopfully not in the middle of the Tunisian desert with that compound fracture.

Love that idea. Would explain some of the ruins.
OK so Im thinking a couple of things about the timeline here. When the losties first got to the Orchid it was still there, but then they jumped, went to the past, and found the well. So Locke goes down to well and they jump again. But where? I dont recall seeing the Orchid rebuilt. If Locke is in the present then the wheel bouncing around was caused by Ben, but what if he is in the past? What if someone else threw the wheel off sometime before Dharma (maybe Widmore), and the island was lost until Locke came and put it back in place. Then later Ben came and moved it again. Might be far fetched, but maybe a possibility.Whatever the case the answers are blasting through now. And Im pretty sure its a safe bet that Locke will end up in Tunisia. Considering Ben ended up there and thats where Charlotte found the polar bear (who we know were used to turn the wheel), then it would make sense that Locke would go there too. -
LOST is truly reminding me of the joys of watching "Babylon 5", back in the day.
Both are shows more than reward(ed) their audience for staying faithful through the rough patches. -
Can we safely assume at this point that all the other extras from Oceanic 815 were killed on the beach by those flaming arrows or are a bunch of them going to show up with Rose and Bernard somewhere down the line?
(This does not include the tail section 815ers taken by the "Others" on the first night as described by Ana Lucia in season 2. Guessing we'll never hear anything about them again.)
But what about the "Others"? Since they were on the island when Ben moved the island and people started jumping through time, are they jumping also?
Also, I'm not clear on why our main characters are jumping? Is it a result of the island being moved or the other Oceanic 6 leaving. They keep saying it is the latter by why then would Locke moving the island again have any effect on that situation? Are Locke and company simply doing this because "why not, we can't think of anything else to get it to stop"? -
Rose & Bernard are not dead. Darlton said so. Others are not traveling with the Stranded 6 (see first jump with Locke)yes that probably has something to do with the Oceanic 6 leaving
-
Linus slams on the brakes and shouts at Jack & Sun - telling them he's been protecting them more than they know. But why?We now know Locke was SUPPOSED to move the Island himself. But Ben did it for him. Did Ben know that Locke was supposed to do it? If so, why didn't he just let him do it, if it meant that he (Ben) would be banished from the Island once he turned the wheel? Unless... Ben knew that turning the wheel would cause some bad shit, thusly causing Locke to maybe lose his place in the Others' leadership role? What if this is all some big ploy by Ben to take back the leadership that Locke stole from him?? What Ben is not only playing the Oceanic 6 and John Locke, but also Jacob and the island itself?
-
Will fixing the wheel stop them from skipping, or is it the bringing back the Oceanic 6 that will? Which does Locke believe at this point? It seems that fixing the wheel will stop them from skipping and take him off the island. Why do the O6 need to come back then? Something else (other than the skipping that has been fixed) still puts the ones left on the island in danger and eventually kills them all and that is what facilitates the need for the Oceanic 6 to return? Is that the general consensus?
-
Thats what I was thinking at the end of the episode. There has to be a bigger reason the 6 need to come back. IF Ben threw the wheel off when he turned it, then it seems as though Locke fixed it. I guess we will find out next week. Hopefully.
-
...but neither is Widmore or Jacob. Everyone else is manipulated by one of those three. They manipulate using fear, hope, beliefs...it's grippingly psychological.
I might argue Desmond is the only real "good guy" in this story. -
*puffs a cigarette* {in french accent} How like life, no?
-
...when he heard Desmond refer to Ms. Hawking as Faraday's mom? He usually knows everything about everybody. I wonder what the significance of this is. Some have speculated that Widemore might be Faraday's dad. Could it be that Ben now has another target for his revenge?
-
He acts selflessly - going out of his way to help others with no regard for personal reward. He left the peace and safety of life with his "wife" and son to find Faraday's mother.
Coincidentally or not - Desmond is the only character who seems solely driven by love…love for his wife, love for his friends.
-
Possibly Locke, as well, depending on how you see his motives. He is willing to die for the island and it's people.
-
I find him corrupted. He killed Naomi - who is possibly an innocent. He is a zealot - a fundamentalist for the island - and will do ANYTHING the island tells him to do. I wouldn't call him a "good guy" - rather a tragic figure (much like Jack) - searching for a real father figure...and wanting to believe above everything.

What's with all the love earlier in the post for Rose and Bernar
by indyjonez100
Personally, I could care less if they came back. They were not adding anything to story for me. The last time we saw them was arguing over how to make fire. Good riddance.
-
Some believe that a good leader cannot always be a good guy. They have to be willing to do things a good guy wouldn't do.
I have long believed that there's more than good and bad at work here. That it's not just the hostiles vs Dharma, or the Losties vs the Others. And the middle ground, what/whoever that may be, will end up being the leader/protector of the island.
It ain't Locke. Too easily manipulated. -
life is extra good now that we have LOST again. :)
-
Desmond is unquestionable... Locke is dependant on P.O.V.
-
Is both Locke and Jacob believe they are doing is what is for the greater good. What the series has shown again and again is that Ben does nothing that is not for himself. At least not in the time that we have known him. Killing in the name of a cause is difficult to justify and bothe Locke and Jacob have taken actions that were wrong, but in their heads, they believed they were doing the correct thing. Ben is just petty and narcissistic.
-
I theorize that whatever they do to take advantage of any 'event window' will transport ALL the Oceanic 6 back to the island, regardless of where they might be. The purpose for getting them all together is to avoid them vanishing into thin air in a public place. They made every effort, and were not successful, so they're going to have to hope that they minimized that potential to the best of their abilities.
Two people on the show have lost arms now. I wonder if Marvin Candle has an encounter with smokey in his future (our past).
Remember the freighter? They already had someone on board with nosebleeds and time-travel sickness. This was before the island was moved and started hopping around. So how did he wind up with the Faraday Nose Bleeds?
The woman Desmond met at Faraday's old home - I suppose that might turn out to be Charlotte's mother?
The Others were heading to "The Temple" and now we learn that smokey protects it. So maybe Richard controls Smokey.
We haven't fully established who Jacob is, but he seems to be in charge of everything. But wait - I thought Locke was the leader. Maybe Locke will turn out to be Jacob.
First time we ever saw Faraday cry was when the video of the Oceanic plane was on TV. He hasn't cried until now, when Charlotte dies. Leads one to believe that at that moment watching the TV, he already knows that the pieces are falling into place and Charlotte will be dead soon. Id like to speculate that the scene of him crying in front of the television will be replayed as the very final moment of the whole show - and we learn he's crying not in sadness, but happy that they fixed the timeline. Just a guess, but it would be cool.
Everyone assumes that Faraday and Charlotte were a couple. Im open to the possibility that she is actually his daughter - a father's love for his daughter would indeed be the greatest love of his life, more than anything else in the whole world. -
We all see it as just a show and so we can easily dismiss the notion of a magic island. But what if this were real life? That island is the only tangible evidence of a mystic reality that there is. In essence, it's the most important place on Earth, with all sorts of profound philosophical implications for our existence. So hell yeah, he'll do anything for the island, as he should. The rest just want to get back to their redundant, boring old lives. In my opinion, they don't get a vote. Whereas Locke recognizes that none of them are, themselves, as important as the place. He puts his money where his mouth is and has even accepted that the price for protecting the island includes sacrificing his own life. He's anything but corrupt. He's clearly a good guy.
As for Naomi, she never came across as innocent to me. She was more of a Keamy-like character to me. Daniel and the pilot are the only ones on that boat that I can be certain are "good" guys. And even if she were herself innocent, she's working for Widmore, who can't even be trusted by his own daughter. -
Richard shares leadership of the Others with one other person, or rather he picks the leader. So far we've had Ben and Locke as leaders, but what about the previous ones. My guess is Widmore used to have the same position as Ben and either lost it to Ben or was forced to move the island.
-
Naomi was, as maltheus sayds, a keamy-like character. didn't we see Abbadon assign her to assemble a mercenary group? So even is she wasn't technically one of the mercenaries, she was their boss and they were taking orders from her.
-
Abaddon recruited her to lead the science team. She didn't have anything to do with Widmore's mercs.
-
A man loses his arm and it falls to the ground. Jim time skips and finds the old, dried, dessicated, decayed and partially petrified arm. A chunk of meat lies on the ground that long undisturbed? Are there no native carnivores or omnivores on the island in that period? Aren't wild bores meat eaters? Or are they repelled by the stench of "smoked" meat?
-
has there ever been a character on LOST named Edith? I think if they introduce an Edith then Kate will die.Because, you know, you can't have your Kate and Edith too.
-
Ha! Took me a minute!
-
Oh lord that was lame.
-
Taking a giant step back from the character and plot minutae and looking at Lost as a Tv show, I love that this season they havne;t introduced an entire new cast of characters on us.Year one, the 815 fuselage survivors and their extended flashback families. Year two, Desmond and the Tailies and the crazy French woman... Then we get Ben, Richard, Jacob, the Others, Juliet, Mr. Friendly... and then the freighter crew, the science team, the mercenaries, Widmore. Four years of constantly being introduced to more and more intertwined characters with increasingly complex mythologies. So far this year we've met the lawyer (with unrelated connections to Ben and Claire's mom.)Claires mom, we met before. Daniel Faraday's mom dates back to the Constant. And I'm not counting Danielle "Babbyface" Rousseau or Charles "I was always a prick" Widmore as new characters. They even brought back Neil Frogurt! At last they're treating Lost as a game that has all the pieces it needs on the board, now they just have to make their moves.I'm pretty sure that Lost's cast is now immense enough that they can tell the rest of the story without having to drag in another dozen new characters.
-
I thought it was lame enough to actually be funny.
-
Also, if they go back in time, meet an Edith and save her life in the past, Hitler will win.
-
The question is, is that ow he sees himself. Can he justify to himself being totally self centered enough to believe that what's good for him is good for the island and whatever it is he cares about? Does Benjamin Linus think that he's one of the good guys - whether his actions lead to the greater good or not?
-
Thanks for the explanation, but I'm still not buying the theory behind it. So Rousseau washes ashore in 1988, and 2004 Jin pops into existence and interacts with her. Are you saying she wouldn't remember the encounter until 2004 Jin made the jump (at which point she was already dead) ? As if that new 'memory' would suddenly implant in her head ? I guess that's possible, but it's still causing some pretty severe conflicts with how Faraday explained time travel when they first started jumping. And can the show jump back to a point before Abbadon was cast as the FBI boss in Fringe, so he can be available for more scenes ? Because he was awesomely creepy as Abadon.
-
Just watched it again and remembered Charlotte told them about the well, so I assume it was there and she saw it during the Dharma Initiative. So this sort of implies the wheel was there before the well was built. Although they could have been back to the future and the Orchid station could have been back. I thought I saw some manmade material behind Sawyer.
-
They only interacted for about 30 minutes total in the past. And didn't have any important scenes together in the future. It is kind of a stretch, but it is plausible. I can buy it.
-
If that is Hurley's voice broadcasting the numbers from the radio tower. It means that the numbers have significance only because they've "always" been there - inside this great time loop. Past Hurley puts the numbers on the radio tower, the Australian guy hears him, tells the number to Hurley's fellow co-occupant at the Santa Rosa Mental Institution, who gives the numbers back to "future" Hurley who uses them to win the lottery, gets cursed, and will never forget them because of that. Meanwhile, "past" Hurley engraves the numbers onto the side of the hatch as a message to future Hurley, and arranges for the Numbers to need to be entered into the hatch computer every 108 minutes (perhaps as some sort of "constant") - else a big magnetic event happens that can be detect off-island - perhaps as some sort of failsafe homing beacon to prevent the Island from getting so lost in time it can never be found again?
Anyhow, lots of things start to make sense if we figure that the 815 survivors end up back in time on the Island - like past Jin teaches young Charlotte how to speak Korean, perhaps? -
Ben is doing what he believes is good for Ben. He is not doing it because he thinks his actions are helping some greater good. Now, having said that, would Ben say he is a good guy? I am sure he doesn't see himself as a bad guy. He is simply a sociopath who has zero empathy for anyone else.

"All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again..
by machthree
Seems like the above quote from BSG has become quite applicable to Lost - seems like the show has turned out to be a gigantic time loop - as some theories on the net have already posited. But I bring up BSG too because, man, it is good to be a fan of both shows these days. Like every week this season they are dueling each other to see whom can top whom... BSG certainly won last week but Lost threw down the gauntlet with Wed.'s episode.
-
It's just ,I think, the experiences she went through led her to, or completely lost her mind, or being bored, so that she does not react when she meet again jin in future.
-
Perhaps Ben considers himself to be "good" and most everyone else not necessarily "bad", but too ignorant of what's really going on to help with the greater good. And perhaps he comes off as having zero empathy because he believes that if he doesn't do what he's doing, then, as Ms. Hawking said, "God help us all" - like nothing else matters except what he's doing, because if he doesn't, the consequences will make everything else seem trivial.
-
Funny you should mention that considering we're getting a whole new batch of recurring characters starting with the next episode.
-
Danielle was introduced in Season 1 and Widmore in the season 2 finale in Desmonds flashback.
-
I found it oddly emotionally affecting, even though I couldn't quite figure out all what she said (she had become unstuck to her childhood, I guess.) Also, I can't believe they killed her off after only 5 episodes billed as a main castmember! And she was in the Season 5 cast photos and everything!!!! Also, she's hot and the island is running out of hot chicks. I liked this episode alot, even if they didn't have nearly as much smoke-monster action / Rosseau killing off all her team-members as I thought there was going to be (but we did get some of it, so I'm happy.) Also, check it out, TWO smokey mutilations / kills in one episode! That's a record!
-
They actually have introduced a bunch of people. The French team & the early Others. Although some we have seen different versions of them and one mentioned. Also we are going to get the two new characters along with loads of Dharma people. Im having a hard time with keeping up with my Character Designs! Looks like I won't have to design Charlotte anymore. I might still though. The Frieghter 4 were my next project.
-
Charlottes parents were Annie & Widmore and thats why Ben somehow ejected Widmore off the island and later tried to shoot Charlotte?
-
I can't really remember why she thinks that. Does she know that he killed Keamy which caused the boat to go off? Or is it just more of an abstract blame game in which she blames Ben everything?

Did anyone think that Frozen Donkey Wheel sound like Smokey?
by tallboy66
When it was bobbling all over the place, Frozen Donkey Wheel was making a sound that sounded like a deeper version of Smokey the Monster's roar. I ain't crazy!!! I remember when Nikki and Paulo bitten by the bugs and I heard the smokey "scan" sound and then the bugs showed up and you all said I was mad, but it was proven right in the end! So, yeah, all that aside, the FDW sounded like STM.
-
In Ben's case that does not work because (and this is just off the top of my head (1) He killed the head Merc even though he knew he was killing everyone on the boat, and (2) his obsession with Juliet to the point where he deliberately and fatally risked the life of Goodwin. All of Locke's, Richards, Jacob's, even Widmore's actions can be justified. Ben's really cannot.
-
If you think about it the OC 6 portion of the episode was only about an hour. Some time for the gun conversation, a little over a half hour travel time and some more at the church or whatever that was. So thats why no Hurley, The lawyer said that he would have him out the next morning. My guess is that not only do the OC 6 have to return, but they also have to do something special to set things right.
-
Make sure if you choose other in any of the polls that you leave a comment in the poll post.
-
Some of the actions Ben takes with respect to the island may be entirely for the island. However, we have seen him act entirely selfishly again and again and his survival and satisfaction is more important than anything else.
-
Has the theory that the Island is Atlantis ever been debunked? By Darlton?
-
Didn't Jack ask what the last thing Ben and John talked about? And Ben said he appologized for making John's life so miserable?
-
He has the same theory and could tell you loads about it.
-
How is it that charlotte suddenly has a new memory of Faraday warning her to leave and never certain back? I was up until now under the impression that people suddenly had these new memories because that was when the time travler had made that stop in time.
-
....does anyone here remember someone they spoke to for all of an hour from 16 years ago?
-
oh and...i'm convinced of two things. Christian Shepherd used to have locke's job as leader of "the others." I think that anyone who has served the island in such a manner is allowed to live forever on the island. Explains why alpert hasn't aged since the 50's and how they are going to bring locke back to life. All leaders get to live forever as long as they stay there. Which might also explain why ben and widmore are so dire to get there(widmore was also a leader at one point?)
-
"I'm not allowed to have chocolate before dinner."Sad, isn't it.the easy explanation is that she was delusional. The more interesting answer is that her mind became unstuck in time, ala Desmond. She knew more about Carthage than Hannibal AND she spoke Korean and Klingon. That's one serious geek girl.
-
That I spoke to 16 years ago. But I kind of like the theory that the memory gets forgotten and can't actually be retrieved by the person until the present time... for whatever reason.
-
"You need to find your camp so you can get back home to be with your wife? Well, we're going to the radio tower so it can give me a brain and Danielle a heart, why don't you come with us and maybe the radio tower can help you find a way back to your camp!"Did any one else get a Wizard of Oz vibe off that whole "you need to go home, come with us to the tower" conversation?
-
Is there any relation between Daniel's Theresa and Boone & Shannon's Theresa ("Theresa goes up the stairs, Theresa goes down the stairs")???
-
Can someone confirm whether or not Jin and Rousseau met in earlier episodes? Thanks
-
I mentioned it a few weeks ago. There probably isn't much of a connection, but it is interesting. Probably the same lack of connection as the frieghter Charlotte and the resurrected psychic's daughter that Eko investigated having the same name. It would be a cool thing though if there was a connection to ether.
-
There are some shots of them together, but not interacting. Although my guess is if I saw someone disappearing and then later reappearing that I might think that he was a figment of my imagination. Add Rouseau's mental state by the time that she ran into Jin's group and that would probably explain why she didn't recognize him.
-
about 12 years ago, my brother & I were in an accident in which another driver merged w/out looking & ran us off the road. The state trooper that showed up to take our statements was a complete ass & seemed determined it was my bro's fault. I remember he was african-american & had a shaved head. That's it. Couldn't pick him out of a lineup today. It's entirely believable that Rousseau would remember a vanishing Asian man, but 16 trauma-filled years is a loooong time to remember just exactly what he looked like.
-
That's the key to the whole island right? The whole reason for cripples walking and black smoke monsters and ghosts, it's all because of a fucking hydrogen bomb incased in lead. Christ, introduce time travel and it's like the whole audiences IQ dropped 80 points.
-
He talks about why Danielle didn't recognize Jin and many other things. http://lostroom23.blogspot.com/
-
People seem to come up with their theories about the entire show based on what plot point was revealed only in the most recent episode.
-
Answer all the questions, give closure, and do it in a movie theater on the big screen. Do everything the X-Files movie tried to be but failed. You have top- notch writing, top-notch acting. No sequels, no reboots, just one last big screen movie experience. Keep Damon and Carlton in full control over all writing and story aspects but do it huge, this story deserves it.
-
firstly, I too have been on board the Atlantis bandwagon for a while, tho I'm not convinced it's Aliens - maybe just Time Travellers?
ok so THE WELL - how did Charlotte know about it? when she was a kid growing up with the Dharma initiative, they started excavating a particular section of rock and ran into trouble... after sonar imaging revealed a hollowed-out chamber with a FDW they investigated and found... the remains of a WELL which had been covered up and camouflaged!
btw Ben knew all those things about Charlotte - not from his mole on the boat - but because THEY WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER ON THE ISLAND
umm... so yeah I proposed couple weeks ago that Daniel and Charlotte were related and that Daniel is The Wid's son - I take the first part back. Yes she said her father was American but she also said Daniel was this other crazy guy who kept telling her to stay away from the island - pretty sure we're talking about two different guys.
which is cool and a little less... Soap Opera-ey...
Charlotte "suddenly" came up with all these revelations because her brain was HAEMORRHAGING, possibly time tripping like Minkowski...
um.. oh yeah I too noticed that Ben DIDN'T KNOW Hawking was Faraday's mother (way to tie some famous names together!) but you could see cogs turning and pieces of the puzzle falling into place for him at that moment...
So is Sun leaving her daughter behind? That seems... odd.. don't you think?
so yeah obviously the time period they end up in after Locke turned the wheel is early Dharma - little Charlotte, Marvin Candle, pre-Purge, possibly pre-Incident - and here I wander into SPOILER TERRITORY!
SPOILER!
SPOILER!
When Hawking gets the rest of them to return - they too arrive on the island in that same Early Dharma period - based on the leak about them all dressed up in the Dharma clothes and Sawyer welcoming them to the island...
umm.. Rose and Bernard... there's no reason to believe ANY of the rest of the survivors (who have also been time tripping) died. Charlotte was the ONLY ONE who had died yet - and she had spent the most amount of time on the island - certainly much more than the crash survivors...
only thing is - ok so now the rest of them are also stuck in the same Early Dharma period - do they too get recruited by Dharma?
or are they recruited BY THE OTHERS?? -
Because Locke has to do it himself. It's been that way for him since he got to the island. Boone will tell you so.
-
If Terry O'Quinn isn't considered A-list now, then fuck Hollywood.
-
The more that big money comes into the picture the more the suits want their hands in everything. So I would probably not want a movie experience. Darlton creates a pretty good movie experience in every episode as it is.
-
Obviously the stuff on the island wasn't made by ordinary people. I can't think of any other explanation. But all of these ideas seem cheesey.
-
Please no. TV shows almost always make for bad movies. First, like 4we8have15to16go23back42 says, the suits will stick their noses into every aspect of it. Darlton will become minor bit players in their own production - their say will drop to zero. And there will be this overwhelming temptation to get screen time for everyone, even if their character has nothing to do with the story that they're trying to tell. It will ruin the movie and will ruin the ending of Lost. Please, god, no. Please, Jacob, no.

They could be a hint that she is indeed Annie somehow. Annie gave Ben a Apollo bar didn't she. She likes chocolate and mom never let her have it before dinner. Hmmm. The timing isn't quite right but with all this time travel who knows.
-

No offense - but why does everyone have to be someone else?
by dapper swindler
Why does Charlotte have to be Annie? Why did Rousseau have to be Annie? Why does Locke have to be Jacob? Why does Widmore have to be Faraday's father? Why does Richard have to be Magnus Hanso? Why do Rose and Bernard have to be Adam and Eve? Why can't people just be who they are huh?
-
The reason the plane crashed in the first place was because it was carrying Christian's body, something the island wanted to reclaim?
-
you can't make a Lost movie that doesn't simultaneously alienate all the casual moviegoing public that don't watch or have seen only a little of the TV show, and frustrate all the diehard fans who have already had SIX SEASONS of setup and don't need introductions to all the characters and whatnot...
The only kind of movie they could POSSIBLY make is one that ignores the usual "rules" of moviemaking and completely does away with your three act storytelling structure - because it couldn't possibly be a "standalone" (aka "filler") product but would rather be an extended episode of the TV show - and if you're just going to do another episode anyways, why bother - just do another episode and show it on the TV!
after all, you make that kind of a movie and you're not exactly talking Box Office Gold - you make the other kind of movie and you have basically slapped your audience in the face by selling them out to make a quick buck...
no, they won't be making a movie -
We're just theorizing. It's the fun of the show. Nothing has to be anything but Lost likes to throw you little curveballs to throw you off the scent. It's just the way it is.
-
Yeah that woul be the mother of bad ideas. Just the usual 2 hour finale and I'm good.
-
5.13 - Some Like It Hoth (not a typo)
5.14 - The Variable
Some Like It Hoth? Weirdest title ever. -
Star Wars reverence? I thought Lost only did Star Trek references.
-
I thought Lost only did Star Wars references - like when Jin and Michael are arguing on the raft and Sawyer says "Hey, Han, you and Chewie want to slow down a second and talk to me here?" and when Hurley refers to a "Jedi moment" back in S1 - and countless lines pulled directly from the movies -they pretty much wear their SW influences on their sleeves...
what were the Star Trek references you were thinking of? -
Agreed, it crashed because it was meant to, to bring Christian back to bring the Losties there, its all circular.
Still think it will end with showing how the Losties were in place for the first episode and Jack in particular in the jungle lying down, then Jack's eyes open and Poom - LOST -

Would this whole "flashing" thing count as "jumping the shark"?
by flip63hole
Lost is really starting to lose its luster...
-
the history of the island, answers to some of the mysteries etc ?
-
"next you'll be telling me theres a submarine". i like how they threw that line in there. didnt montand say that? i haven't watched the ep over again yet.
-
Locke knows who Jacob is. So it isn't someone he routinely interacts with such as Richard, Jack, Daniel, Vincent, whatever. It didn't click until Locke didn't know Christian as Christian, but he knows him from the past. So does Locke know this guy as Jacob?
-
You're right, maniaq, they do Staw Wars gags too. Odd, since usually geeks pick one of the other, like with Kevin smith's Star Wars references in everything he does.the best known scene was the boone/Locke conversation when boone commented on his own shirt color and explained to Locke was a Red shirt was and Locke said that if Kirk kept losing crewmen
"He sounds like s pretty piss poor captain to me."Of course behind the scenes the shows creators always referred to the non-main cast 815 survivors as "red shirts".Somewhat more recently, Charlotte commented that in addition to English and Korean, she also speaks Klingon. -
I doubt that it will end where the show started. That would be equal to the Sopranos fade to black.
-
I actually missed the Klingon line until I read the talkbacks but yeah I guess they've covered both bases there...
so Locke knows Christian "speaks for" Jacob, but doesn't actually know who he is - kinda like when Sawyer met him but didn't make the connection until later - speaking of which, has Jack made the connection that Aaron is his nephew yet? I know he kinda calls him "family" but I kinda got the impression he and Kate actually married in the interim 3 years, as opposed to Jack knowing his connection to Claire/Aaron? -
Besides, wasn't that how the game ended? I doubt it, too. Far too easy. I think we are more likely to get a very sad but ultimately satisfying ending. Let me reiterate, however. Lost, go quickly watch the last 2 episodes of Alias. Do ANYTHING but something like that. (liked Alias, btw, just hated it's ending)
-
I loved the submarine line. Beautiful. I still think we should start a band called "Montand's Arm".
-
Claire's Mom told him after Christian's fake funeral in the last finale that Claire was Jack half sister. So he knew. Also Jack & Kate got engaged, but never married, because of Jacks pill popping & Kate's Sawyer secret.
-
He expressed concern over Aaron and she said something like "You're not even related to him". Was that before or after Christian's funeral when jack learned from Claire's mom that Aaron was his nephew? Because in the latest episode he said something like "Aaron is my family too" and Kate had this brief guilty look like she remembered what she said before and regretted it. Subtle, but that was the way I read it.
-
Christian say to Locke that Claire was his daughter ?
-
Pancho thats the way i read it as well and jack did learn about claire before he said that, which would be why he said it... she was expressing so much more concern for him and he's the kids uncle, theres some irony for ya. (i think?). Miyamoto christian didn't say much in that cabin and no, he didn't mention it... locke was way more shocked that claire was even there methinks.

I'm gonna try to answer Hobo's statement that the 0-6 make it back to the island in the NEXT episode. This may require some spoilage...so...
AVERT YE EYES! SPOILERS AHEAD!
I'M SERIOUS!! SPOILERY STUFF...COMING UP!!
Ok...Just me and HoboCode here?
Dude...I'm just bullshitting....I got nothin...But post something next like I told ya the fuckin ending of the show!!
Just kidding...I DO have some answers for ya...First...there's the NON-SPOILERY stuff. Hurley is in JAIL...God knows where the hell Sayid & Kate ran off to...Plus...ya still got Locke in a damn meat freezer! They're seriously are NOT gonna go back without ALL of the 0-6...and there's just not enough time in ONE episode for them to connect all those dots AND fly to Fiji...find transport to the island, etc. So...just from a logistical standpoint...it would be impossible for a return to the island to happen next week.
"But, wait Cheif...I know I saw Jack dive from a waterfall"! You may have...but it wasn't on the island. Here's the two spoilery things. Kristin from E! had a spoiler a while back that said there are OTHER Dharma Hatches that we will see that are NOT on the island. They are off island hatches that have a connection to the island...My theory on this is...these hidden off island hatches will help Ben & the 0-6 find the exact new location of the island again...OR...help stop the time skipping, and return the island back to it's natural time frame...so the 0-6 don't show up in the wrong year to save their friends. I think a few of the 0-6 (& Des) will be sent off to find these hidden hatches...some of the 0-6 will be sent to retrieve Kate, Sayid & Hurley, etc. In other words it's gonna take a TEAM effort to get back to the island. Mrs. Hawking isn't gonna be able to just flip a switch and send them back.
The second spoiler, as someone already posted, is Kate, Jack, Hurley, etc WILL join up with Sawyer, Juliet, Dan & Miles...and they WILL be dressed up in Dharma gear...driving brand spankin new Dharma VW vans, listenin to Geronimo Jackson in the rockin '70's/early 80's. There was a spoiler from Britains G4 that showed them FILMING this episode, with interviews with Kate, Juliet, Sawyer and Jack...oh, and Desmond. They said they were filming the 9th episode of the season...and part of the 10th that day. Next week's "316" is only episode 6. The one after that is gonna be the ALL Locke episode...which is likely to be the first that giggers with the present day continuity...with Bentham paying visits to his fellow 815'ers prior to what we saw all this season. Up to his getting "dead".
All that said...I think it will be at LEAST 3 more episodes before the 0-6 make it back to Craphole Island.
Welp...I hope you followed me in here, Hobo...I hate talking to myself! But that's my theory...based on the spoilers. I am so happy I have no more spoilers to offer. I'm spoiler free after Episode 9...and I plan on staying that way!! This season is just to good to NOT be frickin surprised every 5 minutes!
Ok...one last spoiler free sentence to make some more space.
OK! SPOILERS OVER!! SPOILERS OVER!! SPOILERS OVER!!
OK! SPOILERS OVER!! SPOILERS OVER!! SPOILERS OVER!!
NO MORE SPOILING THING FOR EVERYONE!!
Ok...please...if you followed me in there...it's NOT safe to ask me questions about what I said unless you are extremely vague...and even then...I'm not likely to answer you...cuz...Spoilers are death when it comes to LOST...and many here don't wanna know. So please be careful if you comment on anything you read back there.
I mean...nobody wants to know that the Smoke Monster is actually Vincent anyways! -
And his arc will pick up major steam midway through next season. The entire series is about Jack, mark my words. He'll be the last man standing, the last loose thread to tie up. Jacob/Christian were done with Alpert who gracefully ceded importance to Ben who is not so gracefully ceding importance to Locke who's doing a bang up job but is being Jacob's robot to an extent. The significance of Christian as an 'avatar' of Jacob of sorts is that Jack is his last card, the ace up the sleeve. Jack finally had a 'vision' last season though they've kept his character firmly grounded in the non-supernatural until then.My theory? Based on the way this has been going and on the ending of the video game, Jack pulls a Roland Deschain.
-
You've gotten so much wrong over your many posts... you really don't need to go on about "spoilers" so much, that only counts if they're actual facts... and you got none.
-
Ben may try to take the 06 back incomplete but if he does it will screw up everything, look to it as a split in the trail... whatever happens our 06 are ending up in dharmaland. I'm thinking this all ends with a struggle between our losties/dharma and the old "others" , hopefully during that time we find out what the hell the island is and all the rest of it.
-
I can see where my theory could overlap with Atlantis, but...
During last season when Ben gave Locke the 3 number combo to the safe, I looked that up as a latatude. Funny thing about that is somewhere around that latitude was the colossus of Rhodes, a giant statue of the god Hermes that has been depicted as strandling a harbor.
I hooked that with 4-toe, and then went further.
The religious aspects of the show, which we all know are many, were and are assumed many times to be what we know of God today...the 1 ture god. But it wasn't always that way. While I can't remember everything that led me there, I came to the theory that we were talking about the gods, not God.
Now we've seen many references to ancient artifacts, heiroglyphics, etc. I've even theorized that smokie may be related to Zeus the god of thunder. But Atlantis?
I've looked the web over and I cannot find anything related to the gods and Atlantis. The gods were on Mount Olympus.
Now Atlantis, if I remember correctly, was supposed to be an advanced civilization that just vanished, and we all know many explorers have searched for it for many centuries, so the theory Craphole island is Atlantis makes sense.
But like the hobo here said, it's fun to theorize about this show. Personally, like many here in this tb, I'm along for the ride regardless of where it takes us. -
its when they're not based on any facts at all that drives me mental... don't start posting your ideas about the smoke monster/jacob/temple/visions/timetravel/whatever if you haven't even watched season 2 and 3 all the way through. There are so many "unanswered questions" on here that can be solved on lostpedia.

I'm betting we haven't seen the last of the timejumps just yet
by colonel_blimp
After all, we have yet to see a young Christian Shephard on the island, right? Maybe interacting with widmore and the rest. How old is/was Christian anyways? About widmore's age? Maybe a few years younger. You think there's a possibility he was one of the others we met in '54? Speaking of age: We're obviously at some point gonna meet a young charlotte on the island, and faraday will or will not tell her she's gonna die if she returns (which of course will be a MAJOR defining moment in the show - maybe finally deciding on whether or not you can change the past). So say we'll meet her when she's six, ie. in 1985. In Lostpedia, it is speculated that the "incident" occured sometime before 1980, because that was when the Swan orientation video was made, but there is also, on the same page, some writing from the blast door map, which alludes to something happening in 1985: # Believed to have divested from project in 1985 following AH/MDG incident
# Arrow station believe to have been abandoned due to AH/MDG incident of 1985 Maybe this incident will coincide with Faraday talking to young Charlotte? Maybe Faraday causes this incident? Maybe that was the flashbacks we saw in ep 0501 (that would maybe negate Miles being Candle's son, he's obviously older than 20. Any other indications for what year the opening of 0501 was set?)? Ben would be around 20 at that time, so that probably rules out Charlotte being Annie. And really, why would she be?But it would be cool to see some action with a twentysomething Ben, maybe even getting some info on what happened to Annie. Don't know where I'm going with this, just speculating. -
in the jump between the frenchies meeting the monster at the temple, and jin discovering them again at the beach? Not that it really matters, just curious.
-
If Locke was supposed to turn the wheel then he would have to leave, right? Why does the island want him to leave? Is Christian working for the island? I think we have to assume so but maybe not? I'm begining to think that Locke was never supposed to be the leader of the Others. They set him up for it but Ben knew what would happen and the Locke would not be in the same time as the Others, thus not being their leader. So WTF is going on.
-
Christian did not tell Locke that Claire was his daughter.

Watch every episode for all seasons, own seasons 1-4, watch episodes with a group of guys on here in the off-season and discuss theories ad-nausiem.
You're welcome to join us for the next one beginning in June.
-
Also keep current season (whichever it is) on DVR until DVDs come out. All to review.
Yes, I need a life...and to step away from the TV...and.......... -
Doesn't mean he was supposed to leave...was that ever said before Ben said he would be leaving the island when he moved it? I know he sort of implied that's what happens, but maybe that's what happens to Ben, who has clearly fallen out of favor with Jacob/Richard

A scene from 5.07 "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham"
by dapper swindler
Ben: John, you need to tell Sun that Jin is alive.
Locke: Jacob said that listening to you has never gotten me anywhere worth a damn.
Ben: Jacob said that? *cries* -
Chief...if they did what you plotted for the "origin" of Jeremy Bentham, they'd be ripping off something that happened on 'Mad Men'....
MacFaux...when you mentioned Ben showing up in Tunisia and the Well...it made me think of something! Remember when you were young and you'd be digging in the dirt in the back yard or sand on the beach and someone would say "are you digging to China?"...if you were in Tunisia and were to theoretically dig straight through the center of the Earth, you'd pop up somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!!! So maybe the well in Tunisia is just the other end of the well that's on the Island (as opposed to the Island turning into Tunisia or vice versa).
I also think that it was Hurley's voice reading the numbers in the signal that the French picked up on their radio.
Lastly (for now)...right when the screen is going all white cuz of a time-flash, the camera zooms in on Miles and he says something loudly, but you can't quite make it out over the noise of the flash...has anyone been able to make out what he said??? -

Hey Lostites. Anyone know the link to the huge Lost talkback?
by col. tigh-fighter
You know the one. The biggest TB ever. Was it for the end of season 4>? Anyone got a link? Cheers
-
montands arm sounds like a good name. maybe it could be like a morphine meets stereolab kind of vibe. not the vocals of those bands , but rather the instrumental sensibilities. mildly electronic mellow jazz with a healthy infusion of guitar (of course). "and now , opening for the dust brothers, please give it up for montand's arm."
-
thanks for the spoiler warning. it helps me to avoid what i dont want to know yet. i like speculation but spoilers suck. are you going to do the watchback after this season ends cheif?
-
that terminator talkback is a complete trollfest but it cracks me up. scroll up on this page and look to the right on the top ten talkbacks. it is the top one. take a few minutes to read some of the foul statements. there are some laugh out loud comments on there. im amazed at the creativity of trolling minds. i hope they keep it going for a while. im sure it will fizzle out eventually.

It was actually for the end of the 3rd season
by 4we8have15to16go23back42
We didn't do so well this last break period.
-
If you add up the numbers in that node...ya get:
23
lucid...Not sure if I'll be doin the Lost watchback...but I do try to chime in with my thoughts on the eppys when you guys post your thoughts. I dunno...this will be the first season i will have all of the episodes stored on my DVR...so maybe I will join in for a few!
Can't believe I'm still at work at 11:30pm on a Friday nite. I have got last nite's The Office & 30 Rock to look forward to when I get home. Wow...I'm pathetic. -
Mad Men did the whole "steal the dog tags" routine? Wow. That's cool I guess.
I dunno...but if Locke ends up in the desert with a compound fracture...I think the first person he's gonna meet...will be Jeremy Bentham.
And...it would make much more sense for Locke to NOT come back as a wounded "hero" soldier...He's gotta stay under the radar, and not attract attention to who he REALLY is...lest 815 conspiracy people start asking questions. -
the island chucked Ben into the Desert because that was his banishment or punishment. But with Locke since he's trying to save the island he's placed where he can do the most good like in LA?
-
Jin & Sun: Marrrrrage is what brings THEM together
Back during season two we got another episode that had a big wedding ring theme. Jin was on the other side of the island with the Tailies and was returning to the base camp. Sun was freaking out because the bottle of raft letters had been found and she thought that Jin had died. Adding to her sadness she had lost her wedding ring which she actually ended up finding in the bottle of letters that gave her so much pain. The flashback jumped back & forth between their perspectives of the first time that they met. Which by the way shows us that Ji Yeon wasn’t the first time that we got a flashback that jumped back and forth between them, but this time it was the same time period.
In this Place is Death Jin tries to use his ring to keep Sun safe and away from the island, which ether through trickery on Locke or Ben’s part was used to convince Sun to come back to the island and that Jin was still alive. Both times finding the wedding ring gave Sun hope.
Danielle: 4 + X + 5 = 15
This is a prime example of this season. Darlton has been making the answers clearer and has been actually giving us some good stuff. But they are still withholding enough from each reveal to make for good debate. We saw Smokey go into a hole by some ruins, but is that the Temple or something else? We saw Danielle & the French team arrive and Montand losing his arm, but is the sickness in Danielle’s mind or is it something real? Did the Jughead become the Swan Hatch or something else? It’s all a little frustrating, but it makes for awesome debate. I know that X is being saved for season 6 so I have faith that it will all make since in the end. I’m just enjoying the ride. My favorite reference though was seeing the Music Box.
Charlotte: Narnia
In the Narnia series each time the kids came back they came in another manner. First through a Wardrobe then through the subway first during Narnia’s prime and then during a time that other forces had taken things over and things were in a state of ruin. We find out that Charlotte had been born on the island left and then returned and things were taken over by the Others. Just like how the Pevense’s got help from their past lives with their old weapons Charlotte was able to help Locke find the well because of the fact that her mind was jumping around to different times in her life. This also gave us more of her backstory, which unfortunately killed her. But fortunately we are bound to get more since one of the next flash jumps will be during Dharma in its prime.
Which speaking of literary references Locke’s falling down the well could have been yet another Alice In Wonderland reference and Christian is the White Rabbit as was refereed to in an early season 1 episode. -
New Video's, Spoliers & an interesting interview with Michael Emerson. Can we say huge Miles arc later in the season? Oh Yeah just to warn you that might have been a spoiler to some.
http://lostroom23.blogspot.com/ -
The funniest part is that in all your speculation you don't for one second consider the writers and producers aren't just trying to screw with people just like you.
Smokey: That wastn't the temple those were the cerberus vents back in the day (think mr.eko), we still haven't seen "the temple" unless alpert, ben, etc were talking about the orchid, I'm pretty sure we still haven't seen it yet.
Danielle: They are only giving us these moments to tie up continuity and answer questions take the nuggets for what they are, questions arn't evolving at this point, they're answering the old ones and finishing the series.
To finish up, if you look for Numerology, Alice in wonderland references, all the caracters being related to one another, aliens, et al. You're barking up the wrong tree. -
Wow! That's great...Now we can all stop coming up with our lame theories!! Don't waste any more time speculating in vain, folks! Cuz...'ol Champ has got it nailed shut for us! Thank you, Champ, thank you for enlightening us!!
Douche. -
If so...you might be onto something. And yes...The Miles thing was a spoiler...in that...it let's us all know that Miles won't be dying anytime soon. Which may drain some suspense if Miles gets in a life & death jam between now & then.
I'll be thinkin..."Welp...no sense in being worried about Miles here...He still has that big story arc coming up that Pa mentioned in TB". You could have just as easily have said "Big Miles news, too!"...
Just sayin. -
I've been watchin this show since the end of s1 and had to watch repeats to catch up my roomate, thats the only reason i find it funny when people are creating fictional narnia theories... given this is J.J.'s biggest show I'd be willing to bet this all ends with a giant ??? ... If it means anything I still haven't got a clue who adam and eve are.
-
That's all you need to know.
-
As for the Temple Darlton said in their last Podcast that Cerebius Vent that the Smoke Monster came out of was the outer wall area of the temple. These theories that we come up with are not just pulled out of a hat. We rewatch the series so far durin g the break period and listen to all of the Podcasts and interviews. We base all of our spoilers on things that are fact already. For example Darlton has said many times that the book references are put in the show to ngive a hint about future happenings on the show. They have said over & over that Charlotte Staples Lewis name was given to her because her story had a lot to do with the Narnia stories. They have used the reference of Alice in Wonderland many times in fact they have stated that in the Episode "The White Rabbit" where Jack keeps chasing Christian through the Jungle that Christian is like the White Rabbit in Alice. They also have told us that names of scientists, philosophers, etc are a clue to things. Like Faraday, Locke, etc. In fact they said that the fact that Juilet was reading Carrie that her character is modeled after the main character from that book. So none of it is barking up the wrong tree.
And anyways why does it matter to you that we speculate? Why be a wet blanket when you can be more productive with your time? -
Sorry about the spoiler, it was 12:30 in the morning when I posted that and was in a wierd mood.

by 4we8have15to16go23back42
That has a big reveal. http://lostroom23.blogspot.com/
-
Wet blankets suck. That is not to say we don't mind different points of view...Me and Pa have disagreed over theories so many times over the years, I've lost count.
But that's not to say I don't have respect for what he has to say, vinyl.
Douche...Yes...that's what I called you. Usually saved for the worst of the worst trolls that visit these LOST talkbacks...not fans of the show. If you are indeed a long time fan...with constructive things to say...great...I'll reconsider. If not...I'll chalk you up in the troll column and ignore your posts with a vengence.
I hope you'll chill out with the whole "You're wrong, I'm right" bullshit...and prove me wrong in my initial assessment.
But I'm not holdin my breath. -
but we are a speculative group of people. in a strange way, we are all friends on these weekly lost talkbacks. i have a much greater understanding of the show since i started participating in the lostbacks last season. if you don't like the speculative discussion, then you are in the wrong place. i realize that by me posting my opinion on this matter i am just feeding into an argument that i dont really give a shit about but i just wanted to put my two cents worth in. i am on the side of pa and cheif on this one. bump.
-
Are we going to find out that Charlotte is Faraday's daughter?
-
But Eloise was looking mighty fine in the 50's, if they had more time I am sure Sawyer or someone would have taken a shot.
-
Faraday's professed "love" for Charlotte didn't sound like a father's for his daughter - watch Jughead again, I just didn't get that vibe. Unless he IS her father and doesn't know it! Then that's just Oedipus-style gross!
-
Maybe they are doing a Luke, Leia thing, but with Father, Daughter. They already kind of did that with Boone & Shannon.
-
that J.J. had some "notes" for Darlton & the LOST writers this season? Like...
"Hey, guys...Season 5 lookin great...Couple notes...Change the line in 'This Place Is Death'...where Charlotte says she speaks 'Wookie'...to 'Klingon'. Oh, and...can ya play up the 'red shirt' thing a little more this season? I mean..my big tent pole movie this year has 'TREK' in the title...not 'WARS'! Thanks, guys! Aloha! - J.J." -
Different people have different approaches, so this is all very subjective: In retrospect, Daniel's loving treatment of Charlotte is heartfelt but rather, well, chaste. Now that is a perfectly acceptable way for a man to act toward a woman he has the hots for. No doubt. It is certainly a welcome change form all the soap operatic mellodrama we usually get. But I saw nothing that would be inappropriate (misleading, in that TV trick way, maybe). He's a tender and devoted caregiver. Not that I'm advocating that theory, really, but I cannot discount it.
-
I remember I read something about physical evolution of human being. It said that we are to lost or tiniest toe due to the use of shoes, at least it tend to shrink. So I think maybe the statue refers to people from future who came on the island in early ages of humanity, and dispite of their advanced technology they couldn't face the violence of their ancestors. I think before they had been slaughtered they might have been considered as god. So we find again the"purge pattern" and it explains, considering its tech levels, the presence of the wheel and smokezilla before Dharma.
-
But I opted for this one with my level headed LOST friends instead.
;->
If I remember correctly, Miles said he was "in love" with Charlotte, so that would indeed be creepy for him to be her dad. -
Lil too creepy a scenario....even for LOST!
-
you said Miles and not Daniel! I getcha.
-
With the Star Wars reference I was saying that maybe at the time Faraday wouldn't know that she was his daughter until revealed latter. Not him doing is knowingly, but that is a bit far fetched, like usual I just like to throw out random things and see if they stick. Speaking of the two Star movies I think that JJ would have to much integrety to force Darlton to slip in Trek references.
-
I'm sure Carlton & Damon would WANT to help J.J.'s lil space movie sell more tickets. Lol!
As for the whole Luke/Leia thing...still a lil creepy even after 30 years. I don't think LOST has the time or energy to pursue those shennanigans. I think having Mrs. Hawking being Dan's Mom is as far as this 'family circle' is gonna go, -
Just sayin.
-
Yesterday...It was Harry acting all 'Bruce Lee' in the upper left corner...waving his arms around...I kept waiting for him to get kicked in the teeth or something. Never happened. Lame.
Today he's eating fries...then he eats...I dunno...some tiny lil red thing...but has no reaction to it. Even lamer.
Any idea what the hell he's eating up there? -
Yeah and theres this odd pause in the mouth movement.
-

I don't think LOST has the time or energy to pursue those shenna
by 4we8have15to16go23back42
Actually They already have with Boone & Shannon, having said that they probably won't again.
-
That was Season 1 & 2 shit. But now...They only have a handful of episodes left to finish this story...and I don't see them wasting our time on such a lame ass detour.
The "wow" factor of Dan turning out to be 'related' to Charlotte is -600 compared to all the other shit they still have left to wrap up. -
i think it's in reference to slingblade, right?
-
the animation is referencing the 80s film starring rutger hauer and c thomas howell (stay gold pony boy). oddly enough, i knew exactly what it was as soon as i saw it. i didnt even need to see the finger. hbo used to play the hitcher constantly back in the day (not to be confused with the hbo series "the hitchhiker" because that was a completely different thing although they could have influenced each other.
-
by the way. its an iconic movie moment of the eighties. rent the film on netflix; you wont be disappointed. its a nail biter (literally)
-
But in the gif up there...I didn't make that out to be a severed finger. The only thing that caught my eye was the red 'end' part...which looked like a 'cog' in a wheel type thing. Thought Harry was eating a piece of red medal.
Now it makes sense. -
Anna my website helper has posted a really in depth assesment of "This Place Is Death" on Room 23. Make sure you have a good 10 minutes to read it though because its long. But its broken up by a picture for every paragraph. http://lostroom23.blogspot.com/

Did I see the actor that played Walt eating chicken in a Tyson Appetizers or something similar ad? Sure looked like him in a group of teen boys.
-
I posted two things about that and weither or not he is going to be back on the show and weither or not he will return to the island. I would say here, but I know that someone would yell at me about spoilers. So if interested go to Room 23 and look for them.
-
MDK: Um...a commercial? I dunno...What's it for?
Slimeball Agent: Tyson Chicken. C'mon, Malcolm, babe...it's only gonna air is Switzerland.
MDK: Really?
Slimeball Agent: Sure! All the big movie stars are doin it!
MDK: Well...ok, I guess.
Whatever MDK got paid...it wasn't enough. I don't need spoilers to know that Walt WILL be back on LOST before it finishes up.
1. "He's special".
2. He has to come back for Vincent.
-
means...he has PLENTY of time for LOST on his 'busy' schedule.

He will be ether on tonights or next weeks episode, but will not return to the island. SpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoilerSpoiler -
I read a theory that she could possibly be the offspring of the Goodspeeds. I find this theory much more digestable than the frontrunner of Ben and Annie. Ben shooting his own daughter would be classic irony though. But since Olivia has seemingly disappeared I think the theory holds water. As forthe whole English accent thing? I'm not sure what part of "raised in England" people don't seem to grasp. The part that doesn't seem to fit is Charlotte's mindwarp line of "You know what my mum would say about you marrying an American." Who is she talking about there? Is she saying someone else's thoughts?
-
What if Charlotte's original name was Annie, She & Ben grew up together and fell in love. But then she cheated on Ben with Widmore and Ben got angry engough to kill them both. Faraday warned them to leave the island. And off island her Mother changed her daughters name to Charlotte. Maybe even had a few minutes in Room 23 before she was taken off the island. Thats why Ben tried to shoot her when she came back?
-
It seems they've been brainwashed without passing by room 23. Could it be possible that Jacob lost the control of his "tools" or someone stole it from him?
-
Since this episode channeled it in so many ways I just wanted to give the book (NOT the movie) a shoutout. If you haven't read it I highly recommend it.
-
the ruins was a really fast read for me. it almost felt like reading a short novel or even a short story. i feel that just a snippet of the story was told in the book. i wish the book could have been about three or four hundred pages longer. i want a prequel or a sequel.
