Liquid X comments upon Cameron Crowe's set and Samuel Jackson's RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Published at:  Jul 21, 1999 3:28:32 AM CDT

Well, Liquid X seems like he may very well be on his name, but what the hell... I'll put him up for all to read. Personally, I hope he stays on that WHAT LIES BENEATH set for a month filing us great reports. I'd bet he's gonna be in the 'symphony' scene from that one. Anyways... not much here, other than the excitement of a regular guy finding his way onto a couple of sets....

I can barely scrape up enough dough(insert struggling writer here) to live on the
beach here. Over the last few weeks there have been film crews set up on my beach shooting a couple of actors that I don't
recognize walking and talking and basically looking rather serious. It was a teenage boy and a girl that I just couldn't make out. Well
turns out that my friends were then hired as extras on the set of the new Cameron Crowe shooting at the Sports arena! Well I drop a
couple of secret handshakes and traded a few choice original Star Wars trading cards and PRESTO I'm in! They were shooting a
fake rock concert obviously from the 70's I think. They were pretending to be jamming and the extras, all by the way were long haired
rocker types, were going crazy! Well I look over and there is the kid from the beach standing on the side of the stage! Apparently he
is the young Cameron Crowe in the movie doing a story on the band which if I'm not mistaken had Billy Crudup in it! It was all cool
and went on for several days over a couple weeks. It was all pretty cool!

Next I got a little tip about the new Samuel L. Jackson Tommy Lee Jones thriller " Rules of Engagement" which was shooting
in N. Caroline a few weeks back an now will do some filming here in San Diego for a few weeks. The cool part is they are going to be
shooting on board the U.S.S TARAWA which is an LHA class of Navy ship!! There will be lots of Marines and Navy guys running
around shooting stuff like that, then they will go to sea for a few days and film there. Samuel L. is suppose to be there for at least a
couple of days so I think that will be rad!! I haven't heard about Mr. Jones. Any way that's all so far I'll keep you informed when more
comes to past! Oh by the way Harrison Ford may be here in town and in L.A. soon shooting scenes from " What Lies Beneath"
which I was lucky enough to have B.S.'ed a small yet PAYING job on it'd crew! I'll let you know when I know Harry!! Keep up the
good work buddy! Thanks for hearing me. Liquid X is now vapors.....

    Da "Rules"

    by day4night

Liquid boy needs to check his sources. Not that this is that critcial, but "Rules" shot in SOUTH Carolina, more specifically at Hunting Island, located outside the lovely seaport town of Beaufort (I got friends there). The whole opening Vietnam sequence that establishes the relationship between Mr. Jones' and Mr. Jackson's characters was shot in the thick jungles on the island. (same jungles used for "Forrest Gump," "GI Jane" and "The Jungle Book" in case anyone's interested). Capt. Dale Dye,USMC (Ret) put the boys through his usual grueling boot camp routines to get 'em battle ready. The bugs, heat, snakes, aligators, and various other creepy crawlys provided the rest of the atmosphere to make 'em feel like they were in 'Nam itself.

I think this the Zep biopic!

    by mike3333

I heard somewhere that there has been a Led Zeppelin bio movie in the works. NOw that I see this Cameron Crowe movie set from the 70s, long hair, and a young Cameron Crowe , it all works out! You see, during the 70s, CC was a young journalist travelling with Zep and became friends (he has a very personal editorial in the booklet of the LEd ZEp boxset). This could be it!
