GREEN LANTERN on the fast track... and look who they want to direct...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I grew up a Marvel kid, but I can tell you two characters I'd love to see brought out of DC's Universe and projected 50 feet high are Captain Marvel and Green Lantern.
Green Lantern is iconic and his powers lend itself to making a really fun, huge budget event picture. With both Justice League and Supes nowhere near happening it seems Warner Bros is wanting to get Green Lantern off the ground with GOLDENEYE, ZORRO and CASINO ROYALE's Martin Campbell in charge.
According to Variety, negotiations are underway with Campbell, so thing's signed, but I like their thinking in making this their new franchise.
I'd imagine they'd want to go for a Green Lantern Corps and not the magic ring of the first Green Lantern... Either way, blue oompa loompas or magic rings lead more to a giant scale fantasy epic action movie.
I think Campbell has a great eye for action, so count me excited if this moves forward. You?

There's the green. There's the lantern. I mean, come on. Let's make a picture!
-
I just dont dig the redux.
-
I suck.
-
The blueprint is there for this to be a terrific franchise. It'd be nice if Warner Bros is smart enough to maybe pay Geoff Johns as a consultant.
I also would LOVE to see Jensen Ackles as Hal Jordan but I have a feeling that the movie studios will want a "name" actor in the lead. -
a green lantern trilogy could be huge if they take the time to do it right
-
Green Lantern and Green Acres crossover movie. That would be boss.
-
said it better, quicker, and more thoroughly
-
Green Lantern's power beam may look cheesy on the big screen.
-
Loved to read these books especially when it was "Lantern and Green Arrow buddy-buddy. Good times. And with a director of this caliber I'd say it ain't gonna be no frickin' comedy dump.
-
a great Green lantern. He was pretty good in Smokin' Aces...

OK. Campbell would get me interested.
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
Since I know zero about the character. But Campbell is a pretty great director.
-
...Snyder looks to have pulled of Dr. Manhattan, and I thought that would never translate to the screen. For that matter, Superman has one of the most garish costumes (Red, Yellow, and Blue?), and yet he has worked well on screen several times.
All it takes is a director willing to take it seriously. If the ring makes a funny sound when the power is used... well, the movie will suck. -
Campbell produced the best Bond film and one of the best Bond films of the pre-Casino era. With that kind of command, this is a great choice. With the tone and sense of adventure he set on The Mask of Zorro, I can see him helming a terrific version of Green Lantern.
-
...Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan? He has experience playing a cocky flyboy. (Oh, rampant, unsubstantiated speculation on movie casting, how I love you!)
-
I hope they go all out sci-fi superhero maddness on this one. Silver age origins, Hal Jordan, Coast City, GL corps, Oa, the Guardians, the whole deal. Man the thought of a thousand lanterns of all kinds of aliens flying overhead gives me a geekgasm. Great choice for director, he'll bring a real sense of adventure and fun to this.
-
just a dude who gets a ring from an alien, and uses it to takes down druglords or some boringness.
-
Is he still doing that? It feels like they are filming it in my town, there is a strange amount of birds hanging around, maybe they are still scouting sites?
-
I like Fillion and Caviezel. I just want them to choose an actor of a reasonable age, someone that has gravitas and is old enough for you to believe that he is a legendary test pilot. I always saw Hal as a Chuck Yeager type, a twenty something actor just couldn't pull off to me. Downey proved you can cast an older than 35 actor to be a superhero. I hope they keep that in mind.
-
After viewing what he did with CASINO ROYALE, I fancy seeing him continue with more character-driven films. He'd probably deliver a good GREEN LANTERN, but I'd rather see him do another Bond flick or that film version of THE EQUALIZER. Warner Bros could get Alex Proyas to do GL; he'd be good for it.
-

Hope they let Hal drink, smoke, curse & fuck in this movie...
by julius dithers
Make it hard PG-13. Jeffrey Donovan would be my choice, but Warner Bros would want to go younger (hence their preference for Ryan Gosling). They should make the Guardians giant disembodied heads (like in the trial scene from the first Superman movie) instead of blue dwarves. Campbell's a great choice.
-
GL has a lot of history to him, so if you're going to do a film on him, best to take the origin with Hal Jordan and lay the groundwork for his successors in the first film. Make Hal, very prone to human mistakes and who knows? Inject a little Oliver Queen into the mix to give ol' Hal some perspective as to why he follows the lantern corps and authority to begin with.
-
He's classic Hollywood and believeably handsome and looks like asskicker and a leader, which are the most important aspects of Jordan. The problem is Jordan is such a straight man he can come off boring but Fox has proven he can do the straight man thing while giving it an inner life. I cant think of another actor who could pull that off.
-
I don’t know if Martin Campbell is the right choice. I like him as a director, and when he is on he can make a good actioner, but I don’t see anything in his track record that would make me think he could pull of a movie that is pretty much just CGI effects. However, that might also be the reason why he is perfect; maybe he’ll focus more on the human element than just the special effects (look at Casino Royale – vastly superior to the much more kinetic Quantum of Solace).
Personally I hope they don’t use any of Geoff’s stuff – yet. Save the Sinestro Corps Wars for a third or fourth movie. Otherwise, start small and leave room for each movie to build in size.
-
c'mon WB. It would so work!
-
He is a gung-ho, alpha male overachiever. Where Tony Stark is the Howard Hughes of the superhero world, Hal Jordan is the Chuck Yeager. If you've ever read books about the early test pilots, you know what makes up "the Right Stuff" - the unspoken code of bravery and machismo that compelled these men to ride atop dangerous rockets. These were men who lived fast and enjoyed life to the fullest, weren't afraid to take chances, including with the women. I mean, Hal Jordan has the balls to date the boss’ daughter and, later when she takes over, date the boss herself. I can definitely see him hitting Vegas with Stark, picking up showgirls together.
-
That would be just as good.
-
I made you check my post!!! Gotcha!!!!
-
the only problem with starting small is that all the comic movies so far have started their franchizes off with smaller origin style movies. Why not have GL come out swinging. Make it epic. DC has its "Godfather II" in TDK, now it needs a Ben Hur. DC is almost a decade behind in getting its universe out there, Nolan is not going to let his version of batman be tied to a greater universe of superheros and he shouldn't. But slowly introducing the universe through a lesser known character works quite well as seen by Iron Man. GL opens it up to see Supes or at least Clark, Green Arrow, and on down. DC/WB can give Nolan the next few years to finish his grounded Batman series, and then reintro the character with a new actor in Justice League. I just hope he is older and more jaded than the Bale version.
-
based on the adams/o'neil classic...this time with a black green lantern as the law and order, god and country figure....would be brilliant
-
This is his guy! And anything else Martin Campbell directs that features some degree of murder, count me in.
-
using GL as the "intro character" for the new universe, letting him make the connections that will lead to the league, it frees DC/WB up to not only finish Nolan's Batman series, but to take its time getting Superman right before bringing him back to theaters. I'm guessing that GL being on track is going to free up Supermax, or whatever they're calling the Green Arrow movie to be made, and they are already working on a new draft for Flash, so it sounds like DC may finally be getting its shit together.
-
You had me worried for a minute. This choice, Martin Campbell, I approve of. Deanbarry gives two thumbs wau up!
-
If they go the more mature and sense of gravitas route, how about Mark Strong? He's probably not a big enough name, but that cat can fucking act plus he's got intensity and great screen presence. GL is a great enough character that they don't need a big name to sell the concept. Anyway, doubt it would ever happen but I'd love to see it.
-
I love the fact that a 20 year old BBC miniseries is being brought to the silver screen by Campbell, who actually directed the tv show. Fancy that.
-
The Green Lantern will not wear his ring on the middle finger in the movie.

Campbell is a fine director. Q of S paled next ro his Casino Ro
by mr nicholas
-
I know that every says how great Casino R, but really all the best bits were in the first half hour, and that Venice finale REALLY dragged. It was great for two reasons: Craig and Eva Green. QOS, meanwhile, had much better action, a better story, and felt to me much more connected with proper Bond tradition - instead of giving lip service to it. (BTW, have a re-watch of On Her Majesty's Secret Service: you'll see where Casino Royale stole its tricks).
-
remake is the one I'm waiting for, I want to see how they've updated it and how well it translates to its American setting. Mel Gibson's no Bob Peck but we'll see. Too bad De Niro walked.
-
GL Needs to be cast like Superman,The dude from Bones wont work.
-
Unless it was completely set in outer space.
-
Both of Campbell's Bond films were great. I'm glad they're going with an experienced director on this one. I'd love Spielberg to direct one of the Marvel/DC icons though. He would make an awesome FF movie, but I guess they won't be going back to that franchise for a while. Now, when we will hear about a Superman sequel (no reboot, please!)
-
Excellent choice.
But who will play Hal Jordan?
Remember a few years ago when everyone wanted David "Captain Forehead" Boreanaz?!!
Suppose it depends how young they want to cast him. -
With fake viral videos. Philip Glass on the trailer.
-
...and I think he is just right for this material. I have some crazy love for Vertical Limit (one of my top guilty pleasure movies, I must admit) and Goldeneye and Casino Royale are two of the better Bond movies in a long time. So Campbell sounds like a good choice to me.
-
well, ten years ago. maybe today still.
-
forget the origin story. harrison ford as hal jordan. some young idiot of the moment as kyle rayner. that would be major. part two would be the rise and fall of parallax. then the final chapter of the trilogy with hal jordan's rebirth as GL. it would never happen, but a geek can dream.
-
... then bring in Jon Stewart & Guy Gardner and the whole corps in sequels. By alluding to the bigger universe in the first film, it can generate the interest / anticipation for the sequels.
-
the ultimate Hal Jordan.
-
I think he's pretty much a perfect choice, actually.
-
MARVEL has more of a down-to-Earth funk to it, but I appreciate the encased-in-amber mythic quality of DC as well. Pound for pound, MARVEL is better than DC, but, truly, I enjoy books from both companies. GREEN LANTERN being one of my favorite books.

this is the one movie that i have already watched in my minds ey
by mr_x
make it fucking good. please make it good. Caviezel could work, i liked him in outlander. Matthew fox, also i could deal with as lantern. thomas jane i also like the idea of. fuck, it could be any of these guys. i'm hoping the movie is a cross between emerald dawn and the sinestro wars. it's sequel heaven! THe director i'm ok with. as long as its not ang lee im happy ( yeah that fucking hulk movie was on tv and was so fucking boring i fell asleep, long live nortons incredibale hulk!)
-
too young hal is a fucking air force test pilot he's in his thirties not his twenties. NOthing against ryan, though lars and the real girls was a fucking fantastic movie ( and well worth watching if you have the chance)but he's not green lantern.Dennis Haysbert as kilowog! the voice it's all him man!
-
he has the body and the looks. If we're going for tv stars for roles for the big screen. you could do worse.
-
A Green Lantern movie will be powerful stupid. Of course after they remove the ring, change the costume into black leather, and cast Will Smiff in the role, it will just plain suck.
-
And I like Martin Campbell for director. WB is getting it done!
-
Sorry, had to be THAT guy.
-
He's great on Lost, but he's got too much of a douchebag thing going to be Hal Jordan. He reminds me of the preppy kid we all knew in junior high, who'd get pissed off to the point of almost tearing up when his soccer team was losing in P.E. class.
-
I want the Green Arrow prison escape movie "Supermax" to get filmed. It just seems so badass. As for Lantern, I've several script reports and supposedly it's pretty awesome and does a good job with the source material. we'll see...
-
...Matthew Fox would be okay...yes, Jamie Bamber "Apollo" would be perfect...
-
http://tinyurl.com/amd8t2 he has the sci fi following, he's in his 30's, he'll still look young for the sequels. he has the physique, and i can imagine him wearing the mask. Make it happen!
-
He was pretty badass in The Hurt Locker.Or maybe Jared Leto.Or build a time machine to go back to '81 and get Dennis Quaid.
-
And Jason Biggs to star? I smell franchise
-
it's kind of disappointing that there are no overtly famous DC supervillains incorporated into the script. Open up WB! Give it some breathing room! And don't, for the love of God, let David Goyer direct it!
-
..isn't he?
-
And he was amazing in it. Last I read, Hal was being written as a test pilot in his late 20s, early 30s. Gosling is, like, what, 28? That works.
-
1st film: his origin, of course. He would be the only GL. Villain: Blackhand or Sinestro. 2nd film: Introduce the Jon, Guy and maybe five or six other GLs. 3rd film: go all-out interplanetary. A large battle involving all the GLs in existence. An adaptation of the GL Corps miniseries from 1982 would be superb. And if there is a 4th film: bring GL back to Earth, have him team up with Green Arrow, and adapt some of the better O'Neil/Adams stories from the 70s. Yeah, that would be cool....
-
Well, maybe he can play Alan Scott in the movie. So who would be equivalent of a young Dennis Quaid these days?
-
G'nort!
-
.....I'm just "ok" with this.
-
It should be so easy getting a movie off the ground for Superman... this is truly a no-brainer... WTF?!
-
So the GL Costume will be black leather. Pretty awesome, huh? And he's going to destroy a mafia kingpin down in Tampa. Pretty Cool, no? And DC sucks the underside of my taint. With the exception, of course, of GL. Marvel's products are way out of its league.
-
is such an odd typo. If he meant "nothing's signed" ... why the space btwn words?
-
Campbell is an inspired choice for this franchise.
-
I usually don't like when a fan posts his own plot ideas as if they could somehow come true. BUT I'm gonna do it myself, now... :) I say that the flick's arc will be hotshot jerk Jordan, caring only about himself becoming a self-sacrificing hero. He's a typical crimefighter to start, barely knowing he's part of an intergalactic group, then Sinestro shows up and starts causing all kinds of hell. Then, Hal nearly dies to protect other while fighting Sinestro, but at the end of the film dozens of GLs drop out of the sky and save Jordan. Then this sets up the second movie as a more sci-fi space story with Jordan being better trained and introduced to the Corps, maybe Sinestro escapes... whatever. You get the idea.
-
EARFF. WELCUM TO IT.

by spyguy
I know it's a longshot, but Ben Browder for Hal Jordan!
-
Man I sure hope they can get Jack Black back on board...
-
To make sure that his powers have: (1) limits (unlimited power is what is killing Superman); (2) that his powers are based in quantum physics (believability). Check out the English writer/physicist Alistair Reynolds (Redemption Ark) for just how many problems there would be in having a personal device that messes with the quantum vacuum.
-
There is no way to take the Green Lantern story and powers and make a good movie by skimping on the budget. The ring effects and battle scenes alone would take a ton of money to do right. If ANY studio thinks that they can make this movie good by blowing the budget on some big name star, and then skimping on the effects, they are sadly underestimating the comic-movie crowd.
-
He's my favorite mainstream DC Hero. So, I'm really looking forward to this; if they can make it work. I just hope his weakness isn't "yellow." Does anyone know what it is now? I can only afford the occassional graphic novel, and haven't been able to keep up with any monthly issues for awhile.
-
I came up with this idea on my own a couple years ago, and it's great to see that I'm not alone. Unfortunately he's too unknown for them to build a tentpole franchise around, but he woulda been perfect if they were still doing that stand alone Justice League movie.
-
The "yellow" weakness has been explained by Geoff Johns as an impurity in the rings caused by a yellow creature called Parallax that was imprisoned within the Central Power Battery.
Because Parallax is a manifestation of fear, it was learned that if a Green Lantern overcomes fear, the yellow weakness loses its effect.
-
They call me... MIS-tah Lantern!
-
Who would look good bald and red? Besides Dennis Rodman.
-
The two Bond movies he has done are in my top five Bond flicks.
This guy knows how to direct action while keeping the story tight and moving. If he's on, my excitement level will go 100 fold. GL has become my favorite Super hero, since Superman got all pussified. -
Lauren Graham for Carol Ferris. Steve Zahn for Tom Kalamaku. Michael Ironside for Kilowog. Dennis Haysbert for John Stewart. Jason Issacs for Sinestro. GET IT DONE!
-
Green Lantern
-
...who should play Sinestro?
-
...CGI for Kilowog, no cheesy rubber suit! (Only Guillermo Del Toro can make those cheesy rubber suits somehow work on screen.)
-
Is there anybody more perfect? I don't think so.
-
Good one, SpyGuy!
-
Just give him a cheesy moustache and a pink dye job and you're good to go.
-
Make him play all superheroes. Don't get Bale. He is too angry. Make him play the Hulk I guess.
-
First make it Hal Jordan, then make Jordan a man, not a kid.
-
Warwick Davis.He's that talented.
-
I was just going to go on a rant about Sinestro... but I can see Ben Linus in the role.
-
He was born to do this. Just slap some purple paint on him and a yellow ring and lets get goin'!
-
awesome idea.
-
Nuff said.
-
He deserves kudos for a great idea.
-
Warwick Davis as Ganthet. That would kill! Shaq as Abin Sur. Search your feelings...
-
If so, Hal Jordan is seriously fucked.
-
For Hal.
-
As the Guardians.
-
voice whereas Davis, as good an actor as he is, has the more high pitched voice. Ganthen needs a deeper, authoritative voice.
-
I've been saying for years that Green Lantern is the Iron Man of the DC franchise. A story that hasnt' been told in the movies, that has a likeable lead hero (Hal)that's a great role for someone out there and a cool looking costume. The Flash is a bigger name (and a dear favorite of mine)but I just don't know how to make it work as a big screen movie. His origin sucks. GL's origin is awesome.
-
Good call. Good call.
-
These people don't have it in 'em.
-
"Real" world "darkness," black leather, no mask, no color specific sensitivities to the Green Lantern's power, no otherwordly aspect to the origin, lots of car chases, a stick figure tween queen love interest, a climax that entails one wall of rippling CGI "power" in a tug-of-war with another rippling CGI wall of "power." Y'know standard fucking paint-by-numbers late summer tentpole. (Can you say "G.I.Joe?")

maybe WB realized it would be idiotic to let a first-timer direct a movie like this.
-
"Make him play all superheroes. Don't get Bale. He is too angry. Make him play the Hulk I guess."
Hulk trash lights! Fuck yeah.
Seriously though, Paul "Peewee" Reuben needs to play Sinestro.
Ever see those mugh shots after he got busted beating off in the movie theater? Dude looks sinister without that bowtie. -
I'd love to see Campbell direct and Jon Hamm as GL.
-
Gnort or GTFO.
-
Precisely because it's one of the few superheroes that is, essentially, a uniform and a power ring, but that can be worn by many people. Say you do a couple of movies and the actor doesn't want to return - you just give the ring to someone else. I mean, even within the confines of the comic itself you've already got a variety of human GL's. You really could keep churning out GL movies for years if you wanted (and that's not even to get into the thousands of aliens, etc.).
-
it could be my fanboy fantasy. I LOOOOOOOOOVE Green Lantern since geoff johns took over the series and am really exited about this. even more than about the third batman nolan movie. I hope its shitloaded with cameos by gardner, rayner, kilowog and of course the greatest lantern of them all... MOGO!!!
-
DC owns marvel in every right. you cannot top batman superman flash and green lantern. I really like spidey, but DC has THE icons.
-
Arisia.
*Lust*, *Drool*. ;-)~ -
When I read the title of this post I swear I was going to see either Brett Ratner or McG. Campbell is the man. He should have directed Quantum of Solace.
-
Getting Martin Campbell is a good move; go for it, WB. Campbell has a record of re-starting moribund franchises (Zorro and Bond) and he can direct the hell out of an action scene without resorting to Michael Bay-ish spinning cameras and 1-second cuts. If Warners treats this right, and woos talented writers as well, they could have a huge franchise that also produces endless spin-off possibilities.
-
Been wanting a GL movie for years.

I would see a Green Lantern movie featuring the cast of LOST
by margot_tenenbaum
Matthew Fox as Green Lantern, Michael Emerson as Sinestro, Evangeline Lilly as Carol Ferris. Brilliant. Maybe even Terry O'Quinn as Abin Sur & the Guy Who Plays Sawyer as Guy Gardner.
-
Am I the only one who pines for the days when stuntmen did real stunts, car chases used real cars, and monsters were real costumes or puppets that could interact with the actors on set? Maybe i'm alone here and people really think vin deisal driving his car under a digital flaming semi looks exciting - or a digital snake eyes bounding through the streets looks perilous. Green Lantern is going to be like Transformers, a big demo reel for digital artists.
-
... for this - John Hamm as GL
-
That's always been the problem with GL. He can do anything as long as it isn't yellow. Batman, Spider-man, Iron Man, X-Men, etc. work because they have weaknesses. Superman and to an extent Hulk don't because they don't and you can't present a realist threat to them. If they don't limit it, they might as well have the Wonder Twins appear.
-
Campbell movie? He uses practical effects in his movies and always has. One a side note, Martin Campbell's nickname should be 'Franchise Starter.'
-
a younger director? They are so many directors who could give this thing a possible outlook. Sorry gang, but has anyone forgot the other films he's done beside having a great budget for the Bond films and oh yeah --HE'S a visionary who makes great bond films? Casino Royale looked a lot like a Paul Greengrass picture to me. Warner Bros should have hired Greengrass; he would be great for the material. If Campbell is assigned to this film? COUNT ME OUT.
-
Is the only Hal Jordon. He is perfect and would bring credibility to the screen
-
"I'm not a hero...I'm whatever Sector 2814 needs me to be."
See?

If he looks like the artwork above, the movie will suck.
by bob cryptonight
How will they explain the little plastic green mask? Some sort of New Years Eve costume? They need to have no masks and The Green Lantern Corps. Having an army of weirdly dressed aliens will be easier to believe than just one guy finding the lantern, etc.
-
He'd make a PERFECT Green Lantern.

Hopefully he won't want to ruin his career like that.

...can we PLEASE skip over the whole story about how Jordan became the GL? First off, it's not that interesting. Second, it was just done in New Frontier. As much as I want to see a GL movie, I don't want to sit through two hours of "Hal Jordan: Test Pilot" to see 10 minutes of "Hal Jordan: GL". It just seems like the second installments of these superhero movies is always better than the first because they have more superhero action. Examples, Superman 2, TDK, Spider-man 2, X-Men 2. If this tradition holds up, the next Iron Man movie should RULE.
-
Make it happen, WB!!!
-
young 'un. He had ring derived power that enabled him to conk people in the head with giant green hammers or anvils or whatever he concocted, right? A magic ring..?
-
But Marvel is better, in general. There's a more earthy, hip quality to Marvel that DC doesn't have. Marvel heroes are more relatable, whereas DC's heroes are more mythic. For me what it boils down to is that each company puts out good books and bad books, but many more of Marvel's books are much more interesting and, for lack of a better, cool.
-
I gotta go with some of the other guys on here and say Nathan Fillion. He has the right look, build, and he's the perfect age to build a franchise around.
If it were 10 years ago I would have to go with Dennis Quaid though. -
So I'm excited. His action scenes are old school style, not the Quantum of Solace Bourne Identity shit.
-
My first exposure to Green Lantern was Jon Stewart in JLU. . .so the idea of Hal Jordan being the GL frontrunner is a bit disappointing. But then again, I'm sure I'm in the minority, considering how I know next to nothing about GL.
That being said, the concept of a Corp of people running around with omnipotent power rings is something I approve. And the fact that Campbell is producing it is even better--Mask of Zorro continues to be one of my favorite movies.
On a completely different tangent, can someone recommend me any decent GL graphic novels? I've read GL: Rebirth (which I found to be kind of boring), and I'm looking for something significantly more compelling. -
i remember reading that a while back, thinking with some tweaking it would play out well for an origin movie. Jensen Ackles - he's make a fucking great Guy Gardner ( sans haircut)and he's be available for a sequel post supernatural
-
Seriously, the Hal Jordan origin story is ripe for telling on many levels...drama (Hal Jordan growing from a cocky test pilot to someone who takes responsibility on a galactic scale), sci-fi (Abin Sir, the Guardians, Sinestro, the GL Corps), action (GL vs. GL when Hal Jordan fights his former mentor, Sinestro), and even politics (like George Bush, Sinestro became a tyrant over the planet he was sworn to protect...he ended up micromanaging every last aspect of their lives until they both hated and feared him). In short, the Hal Jordan origin story would be a sprawling epic if given room to breathe. The story is there, a screenwriter just needs to flesh out the details for the move to the big screen. This is definitely one story that they should use essentially as-is and NOT try to reinvent the wheel.
-
The rise and fall (and rise/rebirth) of Hal Jordan would make a hell of a series of movies. When his city is nuked and he goes after the Guardians while fighting - and killing - all the GL's standing in his way...WHOA! That's a superhero movie I wanna see. This could even be tied into the Justice League movies since Hal Jordan dies saving the earth in a truly grand/cosmic manner worthy of the JLA movies. His return/rebirth are pretty convoluted and might not translate well to the screen...but never before has a superhero been killed off on the big screen. That would be the final movie...no rebirth, just redemption in death. Now THAT would be a worthy contender for THE DARK KNIGHT.
-
Captain Marvel is just like Robin.. created to ride the popularity of Superman and give kids "something to relate to" in the property. In other words Robin is the first lame-ass thing to be introduced to Batman comics, and Captain Marvel is a just a lame-ass rip off of Superman. I fucking hate Captain Marvel!
-
http://tinyurl.com/b2t5en it's him i tell you him!
-
He has an easy going charm. I wonder how Castle will fare on ABC? It has a Bones-like feel to it. Just hope it isn't too much, been there done that.
-
Sinestro should NOT be the villian of the first movie. If anything, they should play up the mentor aspect and save their conflict for later films.
-
the problem with standard origin stories is that they've been done a thousand times, no matter the variation. if you do emerald twilight as the first film - start it off with a slam bang action sequence where coast city gets nuked at the end of act 1, you'd have hal's fall and descent into madness AND a concurrent origin story running as a subplot with kyle's rise. 2nd film would be kyle's vehicle with hal/parallax as the main villain. streamline/modify zero hour/rebirth for simplicity's sake leading into the 3rd film: hal's redemption, which ends with dual green lanterns flying off into the cosmic sunset (leaving room for all sorts of franchise/gl corps films and opportunities in the future). sinestro could be say, the recurring villain through all three films. ben linus would be great for the role. have harrison ford as an aging hal jordan and matthew fox/whomever as kyle (i'd say peter petrelli has the right look, if only the guy could act). if i could simply plug a camera into my brain and wish this trilogy into existence...
-
Arnold Vosloo as Abin Sur, Peter Dinklage as Ganthet(?), Jolene Blalock as Carol Ferris...as far as Hal Jordan goes, they have to cast older and I think Matthew Fox would be a good choice but I also think Connor Trinner from "Enterprise" would do-dye his hair brown of course or maybe Alex O'Laughlin from last year's "Moonlight" series AND WB/DC could follow Marvel trend of cameos with Matthew McConaughey as Oliver Queen- check out his pic on Wiki with 'stache and goatee!
-
Unless your name is Bilbo, Frodo, or The Mighty Hercules. File this under "Movies that shouldn't be made" and place it alongside The Shadow & The Phantom...
-
peter jackson would be a wet dream come true. going out on a limb, i also think tsui hark could pull it off, if he were reigned in a little and working with a proper editor.
-
That's not a bad idea. Go the whole power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely route.
-
Hal Jordan's conflict with Sinestro IS the origin story. He was still essentially a newbie when he had to go up against his mentor. The fact that he won is how he initially became so legendary. While you could play up the mentor aspect and save the conflict for the second movie, you'd have to come up with some other villain for the initial movie...which means reinventing the wheel...something that should NOT be done (most of the time it just doesn't work). Also, I don't see a need for Hal Jordan to ever rise from the dead. It's a comic book plot device that requires way too much exposition to carry over well to a movie about that character. Simply kill him off. Most such movies only last for 3 films anyway, so why not make it dramatic and kill the hero off in the final movie? It's a geek's wet dream since it would be so much different than the typical Hollywood superhero movie.
-
harrison ford as hal. peter petrelli or keanu reeves (yes, really) as kyle. demi moore as carol ferris. ben linus or gary oldman as sinestro. lawrence fishburne as jon stewart. sawyer as guy gardner.
-
I have wanted a GL movie since I was able to read the comics. This will be SO huge if it's kept realistic enough. No cheeze please! Martin Campbell is an inspired choice, for sure. The mind wanders with the possibilities!Wooo-HOOOOO!!!!*ahem*

i'm sorry, but this project will be incredibly lame
by vaudeville villain
if brought to fruition. a guy flying around with a ring, making glowing shapes of hammers and baseball bats as he fights evil aliens? yea. no thanks.
-
For all the talk of realism about Iron Man, it still was the story of an inventor building a suit of armor in a cave. A suit of armor that could fly faster than a jet fighter, had as much power as a tank and could shoot beams from his hands. Not stuff you in modern technology. Plus, in that cave he also built a fusion reactor that he uses as a pace-maker.
I'm not knocking Iron Man. I am just saying if you present something right you can suspend any disbelief. -
Stop with the maverick casting. Yeah I know it works but for once pick people who resemble the role!!
-
it's the story of a cop named hal. he goes rogue and starts killing off the rest of the force. so they assign another cop to take him down. green lantern, as done by david mamet.
-
Um...you realize he's in his late 60's, right? Admittedly the trademark Ford Finger would be awesome with a GL ring on it.
-
the conundrum is that emerald twilight is much too tasty of a story arc to not put on the screen in all its epic glory. yet, nobody wants to be stuck with a franchise kyle rayner, so we'd have to bring hal back in some form or another. maybe he doesn't ever have to actually die? he could just abdicate his parallax powers or something when all is said and done. i think the origin story with sinestro would make a good green lantern prequel like, 4 films later haha...
-
yeea, which is why i as saying it would have worked better 10 years ago. unfortunately, i can't think of any other actor who could fill the role with as much gravitas AND have the spot-on look.
-
...but they'd have to rename the character. You can't have a believable good-guy mentor named "Sinestro." It's already slightly corny (in a kitschy Silver Age way) as a bad guy name as it is, but don't ask non-comic readers to believe that a dude named Sinestro isn't going to betray the protagonist at some point.
Also, what's the over/under on the number of nose-bleeds used to indicate severe mental strain & willpower during battle? -
Actually, I still think the best story arc would be to kill off Hal Jordan in the 3rd film. Any other future movies would be Kyle or John Stewart (my vote for Stewart, definitely!). The second or third films could have Hal training Stewart (a former military buddy...?) for just such an event. The movies have to do an awful lot in 3 movies to have the 3rd end in Hal's death (which would be redemptive from his fight against the Corp. & Guardians in movie 2). Really, you need up to 4 movies to really do it all, but either way, that puts Sinestro vs. Hal Jordan in the first movie. That's also why I noted that Hal might be killed off in a JLA movie. How wild would that be????
-
Campbell has rebooted BOND twice, he's made a franchise out of an out of date character (Zorro), he's PERFECT for Green Lantern! So long as it follows Geoff Johns current arc (and all the love for Alan Moore's expanded universe), there's plenty of drama for this franchise. Best old school action diretor doing giant budget intergalactic space opera?!?! I'M IN!
-
I thought Casino Royale was one of the best action films in years, a good blend of set pieces and stunts with character development. Never been a fan of Green Lantern, but this has my interest piqued.
-
And I hope they stick to the Berlanti script. Seemed a sensible marriage of Emerald Dawn I and II along with the writer's own vision. The script I read was pretty fucking badass. I just really, really hope Geoff Johns' "Secret Origin" doesn't factor too heavily into anyone's minds.
-
...tghey're still using the Marc Guggenheim script? From what I hear it was a decent script that included Ganthet, Kilowag and the rest of the Corp (no mention of Sinestro though). The villians were Legion (which I really hope they change) and Hector Hammond.
-
that the trailer features the "Choir of Doom" in the soundbed.Just sayin'.
-
Hey Quint Marvel sucks
-
as Mogo!
-
that would be pretty cool actually. i still somehow want hal to live though, i think just because he's my favorite GL overall. either way though, what's great about Lantern mythology is that there's just so much that can be done and so many ways this could go. heck, GL can even be spun off into a corps tv show at some point! a few years ago, none of this would have been possible, as the CG simply would have been prohibitively expensive or non-existent. whatever happens, i can't wait to see the results. as long as they don't ratnerize or sommersize it!
-
David Boreanauz. Looks like GL, has some real depth as an actor and can make the funkiest crap make sense.
-
Yeah, I went to the set,” said Steven Soderbergh, when Total Film quizzed him recently. “I can tell you that shit was mindblowing. The shit I saw was crazy. Like, craaaazy.I I think it’s gonna be gigantic. It’s gonna be another one of those benchmarks. There’s gonna be Before that movie and After.” WHAT YA SAY ABOUT THAT MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!
-
Your phone's about to ring. Seriously, who else could be a better Hal Jordan?
-
The first 10 mins should be Hal Jordon in an epic battle. Have Harrison Ford or someone huge paly the part then have him beaten and right before he dies pass it off to Kyle and he becomes the new Latern. Cut to the quick flash back about the history of the Latern and then Kyle trying to figure out his new powers and then he fights the baddie that killed Hal Jordan. I am thinking a slimmed down/buffed up Jason Lee as Kyle.
-
Stop suggesting him for every other fucking role out there! HE IS SUPERMAN! Now shut up with the other suggestions! Marsden is still the best choice, and he's older than people realize so he'd pull off the gray in time.
-
He looks just like the Green Lantern in the painting above.
-
I'm sorry, but I have to diagree. All prints of Superman returns should be burned with napalm and flushed down the nearest toilet, and WB made to go back to the drawing board with no dessert until they get Superman on the right track again. I recently rewatched SR on TV, and...Bleh...just Bleh. It was 100% fried fail on a stick. The only halfway decent scene was the rescue of the shuttle. Okay,Geek rant over, I am liking what I'm hearing about the Green Lantern movie thus far. :)
-
I like the dude, but that'd be the laziest Green Lantern ever. Drazed villain shows up... Nathan/Hal drawls, "This is a recipe for unpleasantness," makes a green gun and shoots villain in the face. Walks away.
-
Fuck this site and it's lack of an edit button.
-
I'm just saying.
-
The guy deserves the hero role after all the shitty "love obstacle" roles. (X-men, Supes returns, even fucking Enchanted.) He made fucking "Sex Drive" worth watching. He was born to play Hal Jordan, cocky asshole pretty boy.
-
of the current crop of actors.
-
Or at least, do it during the credits like the last Hulk movie. No 2 hr movie getting to who Hal or John are, and then a big character defining fight at the end. Make it as if he's well on his way and has an effect on the world around him.
-
He looks more like the comics Hal Jordan than anyone mentioned so far.
-
hal jordan needs to have that rugged, square-jawed marlboro man type look. young shatner would have been great. no flavor of the moment young pretty boys i think.
-
they better rip off everything they can from geoff johns' run, which has been incredible. Anyone who thinks green lantern is garbage clearly hasn't read johns' take on him. And Sinestro Corps war kicked all kinds of ass. I'll say this, though-- i don't want a corps. And if they want this to be a successful franshise, then they should make all aliens humanoid... the weird looking aliens would turn people off. I have high hopes for this.
-
That Wolverine movie looks friggin' TERRIBLE. Wake me up when they make OLD MAN LOGAN into a movie. OLD MAN LOGAN being THE BEST Wolverine story EVAR!
-
That would be EPIC AWESOME.
-
Is the right age, has these rugged looks everyone is mentioning (see Gladiator) can act, would bring some credibility and if his ring doesnt work right he can just throw phones at Sinestro.
-
and if they turned hal into parallax at the end the people who haven't read the books will be shocked and you'd better believe they'd be coming back to see what happens with that. Then use the plot for 'green lantern: rebirth' to make hal good again. But if they do things differently and do sinestro corps war by the third film, that would kick all sorts of ass too.
-
To avoid this turning into a farce I would hope the limit the rings power. Giant hammers and all kinds of silly objects being formed from the ring would kill it.
Put some limits on it to keep from becomming camp. I guess no one wants Matthew Settle back? -
He's a B actor is riding on past glorys of being in some so/so B movies from the 80's that certain man-childs cant let go.
Fillion is a real actor and is perfect. Hire him!! -
if nobody answered--the ring's weakness now is fear.
-
I have a shitload of comics, and they're all dc. like someone said, their characters are the real icons. I won't even buy marvel--mainly cause i'm not interested at all, but i'm worried i'll become addicted and spend as much money as i already do by buying older tpbs and subscribing to every comic dc puts out except for birds of prey and the little kids comics.

Matthew Perry for Green Lantern! Get him to pump iron now!
by damien chowder
-
i've never really liked xmen except for whedon's arcs. But have any of you rewatched xmen recently? they're really not that great. xmen and spiderman don't have good replay value--iron man, however, does. And i felt like norton's hulk was great, and i did feel like hulk was threatened in that final action sequence.
-
Very right! And make it difficult to learn to control in the first place, as in *only* an experienced test pilot would survive his first experience with the ring. Steal a little from 'Forbidden Planet': the ring will manifest *anything*, both in your conscious and subconscious.
-
Perhaps say writing the script. Green Lantern is where it is today because of Johns.
-
"Could this ring BE anymore green?"
-
I don't get why people say they don't want an origin story. What, so you open with hal in an action scene using his ring in all the ways he does...the audience would just be like 'what?' You need an origin. the sucessful reboot of batman and the sucess of dark knight came in large part because of the fantastic origin of batman... in that origin story, we saw a lost soul with ass kicking potential, then we see him trained and get it handed to him until he overcame everything... i mean, batman begins and dark knight wouldn't be anything if it weren't for that incredible origin. Non-readers of green lantern need a good origin for them to get on board with. i'm so sick of people hating on origins...think BIG PICTURE... 1/4th or 1/3rd of the first movie being origin won't kill anyone... you need to build for the future, and green lantern has an infinite potential for a franshise that will be around for a long, long time. And superman needs a reboot with a new origin. Everyone saying donners still serves as the origin is just a sentimental idiot--compare early superman origin stories to birthright-- even the COMICS were able to create a more compelling origin story in todays day and age. no origins my ass.
-
seriously, all aliens should look human... the gaurdians could have blue skin and the average moviegoer would be on board. If you think this will have the potential to be a very long running franshise, you gotta take the weird looking aliens out of the picture... it just wouldn't work. i'm predicting it now-- weird aliens=low box office.
-
I guess no Steve Buscemi then.
-
Might have been cool, if he hadn't already been Two-Face. That picture of Hal looks just like Aaron.
-

Freddie Prinze Jnr for GL and Zac Efron cg'd for Kilowog.
by damien chowder
-
after Batman.
-
i totally agree... i don't understand why some people think his costume is lame... i forget if i read this in the heroes thread or here, but whoever is saying that they'll change the costume to be more realistic or whatever, you've got to be kidding me. First off, if you say that, you'd better not be a fan of the xmen movies. But not looking at movies, and looking at comics, green lantern's costume is great. X-men's are rediculous costumes, green lantern kicks their costumes asses. spiderman's costume is flamboyant... superman's is lame, but good cause its iconic, but strictly speaking, his costume is questionable, but again, great cause its iconic. Green lantern's costume is great, and kyle's lantern costume is even better. And seeing the ring in action will fuck my eyeballs. (oh no, what have i started...)
-
but he needs to be Superman. Plain and simple, he's perfect for it. I like Nathan Fillion for GL.
-
After all, he's clearly a GL fan. He does the voice for the cartoons, and in one episode of Bones they had his character reading an issue of GL. However, I'm afraid he's just not a big enough star, but I think he'd be perfect. Another choice that may be out of left field is Jensen Ackles. Someone mentioned a young William Shatner as being perfect...well, Ackles really strikes me as a young Shatner with his cocky demeanor on Supernatural. Again though, neither guy is big enough, and I'm afraid that might be the case with Fillion too, despite my love of Mal Reynolds.
-
But he seems to be downplaying his roles lately.
-
well it seems anyone associated with whedon is great for pretty much any role. but to be honest, boreanez would be great... i'm a big fan of fillian, but i don't see him as gl. The thing is, i think he's a great actor, but he needs a defining role that isn't firefly (which he was perfect for and in which he acted perfectly) I don't know who green lantern should be, but its too early to care. what i want to know is what comic arc are they going to go with... will johns be involved (i hope he could at least be a consultant) Thing is, i don't know if johns is like gaiman--gaiman can write novels, and to my knowledge johns has not... i also don't know if he's done any screenwriting (save for smallville ep, which was basically as close to the recent superman/legion arc as you can get with smallville) so i don't know if we really want him writing the movie. Nobody can say that johns can't write story arcs and ANY comic he puts his name on is gold. (the guy must be one of the hardest working writers alive--he's done an insane amount of writing for comics, and seems to breathe new life into whatever he's working on...i mean, shit, he made booster gold an interesting character with his own monthly book.) On topic, though-- as talkbackers, we will never settle on the same 'perfect director/actor' issue... but seriously, you can't complain about campbell... it could be SOOOOOOO much worse. to know who's directing, and knowing he's capable, knowing that we are in a post TDK world, i am pumped. every comic book movie will now have the 'TDK' factor of potential legitimacy.
-
He is the obvious choice.
-
as Hal Jordan's hairy beanbag. LOL
-
I kid. Browncoats want their gang in everything, seemingly. And Fillion is too old for the Jordan they're going for here.
-
He's got the swagger, and certainly has the look. Uncannily. Ray Fearon for John Stewart. For Guy Gardner... either Mark Wahlberg or Sean William Scott. Ralph Fiennes or Hugo Weaving for Sinestro.
-
... it's been many years since I've been a regular reader of the Green Lantern comics. I keep hearing Geof Johns' name popping up. Which issue of Lantern did he start with? Which is his best storyline(s)? And what is the opinion on the Alan Moore GL issues? Thanks.
-
someone mentioned it and i didn't really think about it, but for my money, dean from supernatural was born to play hal jordan. he's perfect age, he's got that tough guy attitude and look, and he would be so easy to picture as a test pilot... in a perfect world, he'd be hal for the next 12 years.
-
Like BMacSmith said. Going galactic would be expensive, but it won't be GL otherwise. Makes me think of how epic X3 could have been with the Shi'ar Empire... Still, maybe they'll go galactic after all, only not CRAZY galactic -- not with the first movie, anyway. Hell of a lot of potential here. Never been a fan of the big green ballbats, etc, but I don't have a problem with power beams and force fields. I'd love to see this done right.
-
Stop by http://tinyurl.com/adl3bq
-
you know, the guy that will never work in hollywood again.
-
that last bond movie blew ass whilst goldeneye is still the best post-70s bond movie.
-
I saw him in real life the guy is a midget. 5'6" at best.
-
Jason O'Mara as Hal Jordan. He's the actor who plays the main character of Sam on Life on Mars. He's definitely got the look and the size for Jordan.
Ben Linus as Sinestro is friggin inspired casting in my opinion.
Common as a badass John Stewart. No issues with that believe it or not.
Guy Gardner? You gotta go with a short haired Sawyer from Lost. That would just be the shit. -

Sinestro = Three simple words...
by i_am_not_the_droid_you_are_looking_for
Daniel Day Lewis
-
The magic of Hollywood can fix that. He looks taller on BSG. Heck, Cruise is a short guy but in some movies he towers over others. GO WITH BAMBER.
-
I thought it was very cinematic and done right, could be one of Warner's better franchises. It has a lot more going for it than Superman as Green Lantern is human and as such we can identify with him more.
-
ok i think the general consensus is that they should avoid some realistic leather GI Joe/X-men style redo of the costume. but do we just go with straight-off-the-page hyper-bright spandex (like superman), muscled "suit" like the flash (tv series), or some techno-deviation-bullshit like batman? i'm thinking they should stick with the classic gil kane design, but with a darker, tint to the green with a bit of lustre. maybe not spandex but a leathery/vinyl sort of fabric. there wouldl also need to be some sort of artifical definition or muscling of some sort, unless arnold schwartzenegger was playing the role. why am i thinking so hard about this? maybe cuz i just finished watching queer eye for the straight guy lol...
-
El Mayimbe at Latino Review reviewed the script in September 08 and gave it a B+ rating. Bad guys: Legion and Hector Hammond. Locations: Earth, Space, and Oa. Good guys: Hal Jordan, Kilowog, assorted other GLs. Other Characters and cameos: Alan Scott, Clark Kent, Guy Gardner, Abin Sur, and Carol Farris. NO SINESTRO. GL Powers: classic GL beams flight space travel and forming shapes and constructs at will.
Mayimbe really dug the script and said it leaves room for sequels and prequels. I can only guess that Alan Scott will fill the mentor role rather than Sinestro, but that is just a guess. Sinestro looks like he’ll be saved for the sequels by this draft. It really does sound good. If this does indeed end up being the basic plot this could be great. The writing is described as fast smart and top notch stuff. -
check it out on Latino Review El Mayimbe pretty much lays the whole thing out blow by blow, lots of detail so don't read it if you don't want spoilers. This is the most recent draft, but it is always subject to change over the next year or so before production. the writing creds go to Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green. He also makes a point to say that Boreanaz is not on the list of potential casting and that Hal is described to be around 27... ech too young.
-
They are going WAY WAY BIG. The will be battles involving the ENTIRE CORPS.
-
...a Big Fucking Squid (TM).
Sorry. No squid, no love.
-
with Campbell soup product placement.
-
...Can Glenn Campbell sing the theme song?
-
That would be awesome
-
He'd be a good GL, but as I've said in other talkbacks Marsden would be the perfect Captain America. Just dye the hair, and it's a done deal.
-
And, if the GL movie was a success, it might resurrect Firefly/Serenity for more installments.
-
It's too late/early for grammar.
-
yeeeaaahh
-
is to old and FAT. Watch Burn Notice too see.
Jensen Ackles would make a good Guy Gardner.
Nathan Fillion as Hal
Mr. Ashlee Simpson, that Wentz guy as Emo Kyle Rayner
And no John Stewart so we can have a movie that doesn't have to have either Will Smith or Sam Jackson in it. -
What do you think? Jon Hamm for Green Lantern?Heh. Suck it.
-
Thanks for the info. I thought that's what they'd do (go the Parallax route.) They'll probably need to get rid of the "yellow" weakness altogether and make it purely about fear, though, for it to be accessable to audiences. I don't really care, as long as the villainy of Sinestro and Parallax remains a golden hue. That should be enough for any fan.
-
I too think Fillion is best. He captures the cavalier style of Hal. In addition, he's about the only I can see making a boxing glove punching out an interstellar threat both amusing and cool (a la Indy shooting the big, saber guy.)
-
might work well...
-
he voiced Hal in Justice League: NF, and he looks the part. Not sure if anyone brought him up already (I don't feel like reading all these talkback posts).
-
I remember reading that he was being wooed by Warner Brothers to play Hal Jordan. Is this still the case? I think he'd be great in the part.
-
I believe I'd like to see Nathan Fillian as GL. Complete with an accent. I would hope they would realize that a Test pilot is not going to be someone in their tweens. There are a lot of great young actors, but Hal Jordan was different from most other heroes in the fact that he began his superhero career after having a career of his own. You can't put a 20 something there, and actually have it be believable.
-
why all this talk of a green arrow appearance? one, its a green lantern movie. two, green arrow arc is one of the least interesting. how bout we try NOT making a boring green lantern film?
-
And Morena Baccarin as Carol Ferris. STUNT CASTING!
-
Not sure if he has the gravitas for more emotional moments. Haven't seen too much of his work (outside Firefly, Serenity, Blast from the Past, and Saving Private Ryan), so he could surprise me. He'd get my vote for Hal Jordan.
-
anyone who's watched a fair amount of supernatural would know that dean is WAAAAAAY better suited to be hal for a long time. The whedonite's want his guys for everything (and i am a huge whedon fan myself). Think about this, though, whedon created those fantastic shows and fantastic characters and was a MAJOR part of the reason those actors did so well. I don't watch bones, so i could be very wrong, but fillion hasn't proved himself to be given a major role like this on the basis of him being in firefly alone. Boreanez is a moot point--i think he wants to distance himself from genre roles like he had in buffy and angel. But he doesn't look like a hal at all.
-
You want gravitas? Here's gravitas:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hiPfTnxFI4&feature=related -
jamie bamber. fillon looks old and he's stocky. Bamber. hollywood agents, make that call.
-
of the Marvel World before the GL thing! You really missed that Iron Man is Marvel's answer to DC's Batman? I can see your point about Green Lantern and they're more Silver age, but holy moly if anyone did the initial copying it was Marvel, not DC! That goes for you too, Ky-el.
Really, what's so hard to figure out? Batman. Billionaire. No super-powers. Uses his tech/money to fight crime. Iron Man. Err, same.
Chowder, "maverick casting"?! What, casting someone who can ACT instead of the braindead choice of casting because they LOOK like the character?
Which is redundant anyway because 99% of the audience are NOT comic nerds and haven't got a clue who the character looks like in the first place! Up there for thinking buddy. Thank God you're here on the net casting from your vast knowledge like the rest of the fanboys (said knowledge generally only consisting of anyone in GENRE film or tv) and not a suit or casting agent. -
And to all the Nathan Fillion zealots - you want him for EVERYTHING. The most obvious choice? Because he's got the bloody hair for it? For fuck's sake! Because he did the VOICE?! Admittedly that was good even if NF was a huge letdown (fuck you Harry). You guys are worse than the Buffy/Angel fans. Oh, wait a sec...
Let Firefly GO, people... If fanboys and girls were allowed to cast movies things would be even worse than they are now. God if only I could find the fantasy casting league TB where someone actually suggested Pia Zadora because she looked like whoever the superheroine was! And Fillion was ALREADY cast because he sorta looked like someone else. Remember? He was a poor man's Han Solo in a show where they presupposed we were too stupid to get that Star Wars was a Western analogy so they thought they'd make it all literal and spell it out for us! God almighty... and James Marsden has better hair than Fillion AND better comedy timing for this GL thing. Suck it!! Yes I'm being sarcastic, before you pop a gasket.
What if they let whatsisname that was going to do the whole silver-age thing to Fantastic Four (see what I did there? Hyuk!) before that fuckwit Story got the gig do it to Jet-age Jordan instead. That'd work!! Double Irony! -
I'm actually 100% behind Geoff to help out in a film. He seems very well suited to the cinematic field, maybe even -- considerably -- more than the comic field.
-
to play the ring.
-
"look, I can make a giant vacuum cleaner! a giant hammer!"
Let's be honest, it's kinda dumb, right?
