GREEN LANTERN on the fast track... and look who they want to direct...

Published at:  Feb 05, 2009 12:25:47 AM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I grew up a Marvel kid, but I can tell you two characters I'd love to see brought out of DC's Universe and projected 50 feet high are Captain Marvel and Green Lantern.

Green Lantern is iconic and his powers lend itself to making a really fun, huge budget event picture. With both Justice League and Supes nowhere near happening it seems Warner Bros is wanting to get Green Lantern off the ground with GOLDENEYE, ZORRO and CASINO ROYALE's Martin Campbell in charge.

According to Variety, negotiations are underway with Campbell, so thing's signed, but I like their thinking in making this their new franchise.

I'd imagine they'd want to go for a Green Lantern Corps and not the magic ring of the first Green Lantern... Either way, blue oompa loompas or magic rings lead more to a giant scale fantasy epic action movie.

I think Campbell has a great eye for action, so count me excited if this moves forward. You?

The blueprint is there for this to be a terrific franchise. It'd be nice if Warner Bros is smart enough to maybe pay Geoff Johns as a consultant.

I also would LOVE to see Jensen Ackles as Hal Jordan but I have a feeling that the movie studios will want a "name" actor in the lead.

...Snyder looks to have pulled of Dr. Manhattan, and I thought that would never translate to the screen. For that matter, Superman has one of the most garish costumes (Red, Yellow, and Blue?), and yet he has worked well on screen several times.

All it takes is a director willing to take it seriously. If the ring makes a funny sound when the power is used... well, the movie will suck.

Campbell produced the best Bond film and one of the best Bond films of the pre-Casino era. With that kind of command, this is a great choice. With the tone and sense of adventure he set on The Mask of Zorro, I can see him helming a terrific version of Green Lantern.

I hope they go all out sci-fi superhero maddness on this one. Silver age origins, Hal Jordan, Coast City, GL corps, Oa, the Guardians, the whole deal. On casting:

    by nerosday

I like Fillion and Caviezel. I just want them to choose an actor of a reasonable age, someone that has gravitas and is old enough for you to believe that he is a legendary test pilot. I always saw Hal as a Chuck Yeager type, a twenty something actor just couldn't pull off to me. Downey proved you can cast an older than 35 actor to be a superhero. I hope they keep that in mind.

    by lonegun

After viewing what he did with CASINO ROYALE, I fancy seeing him continue with more character-driven films. He'd probably deliver a good GREEN LANTERN, but I'd rather see him do another Bond flick or that film version of THE EQUALIZER. Warner Bros could get Alex Proyas to do GL; he'd be good for it.

    by julius dithers

Make it hard PG-13. Jeffrey Donovan would be my choice, but Warner Bros would want to go younger (hence their preference for Ryan Gosling). They should make the Guardians giant disembodied heads (like in the trial scene from the first Superman movie) instead of blue dwarves. Campbell's a great choice.

    I'm optimistic.

    by sithtastic

GL has a lot of history to him, so if you're going to do a film on him, best to take the origin with Hal Jordan and lay the groundwork for his successors in the first film. Make Hal, very prone to human mistakes and who knows? Inject a little Oliver Queen into the mix to give ol' Hal some perspective as to why he follows the lantern corps and authority to begin with.

No, Matthew Fox for Hal Jordan

    by industrykiller!

He's classic Hollywood and believeably handsome and looks like asskicker and a leader, which are the most important aspects of Jordan. The problem is Jordan is such a straight man he can come off boring but Fox has proven he can do the straight man thing while giving it an inner life. I cant think of another actor who could pull that off.

    Martin Campbell. I don't know.

    by continentalop

I don’t know if Martin Campbell is the right choice. I like him as a director, and when he is on he can make a good actioner, but I don’t see anything in his track record that would make me think he could pull of a movie that is pretty much just CGI effects. However, that might also be the reason why he is perfect; maybe he’ll focus more on the human element than just the special effects (look at Casino Royale – vastly superior to the much more kinetic Quantum of Solace).
Personally I hope they don’t use any of Geoff’s stuff – yet. Save the Sinestro Corps Wars for a third or fourth movie. Otherwise, start small and leave room for each movie to build in size.

Hal Jordan is the Tony Stark of DC

    by continentalop

He is a gung-ho, alpha male overachiever. Where Tony Stark is the Howard Hughes of the superhero world, Hal Jordan is the Chuck Yeager. If you've ever read books about the early test pilots, you know what makes up "the Right Stuff" - the unspoken code of bravery and machismo that compelled these men to ride atop dangerous rockets. These were men who lived fast and enjoyed life to the fullest, weren't afraid to take chances, including with the women. I mean, Hal Jordan has the balls to date the boss’ daughter and, later when she takes over, date the boss herself. I can definitely see him hitting Vegas with Stark, picking up showgirls together.

    Starting small

    by nerosday

the only problem with starting small is that all the comic movies so far have started their franchizes off with smaller origin style movies. Why not have GL come out swinging. Make it epic. DC has its "Godfather II" in TDK, now it needs a Ben Hur. DC is almost a decade behind in getting its universe out there, Nolan is not going to let his version of batman be tied to a greater universe of superheros and he shouldn't. But slowly introducing the universe through a lesser known character works quite well as seen by Iron Man. GL opens it up to see Supes or at least Clark, Green Arrow, and on down. DC/WB can give Nolan the next few years to finish his grounded Batman series, and then reintro the character with a new actor in Justice League. I just hope he is older and more jaded than the Bale version.

    Plus...

    by nerosday

using GL as the "intro character" for the new universe, letting him make the connections that will lead to the league, it frees DC/WB up to not only finish Nolan's Batman series, but to take its time getting Superman right before bringing him back to theaters. I'm guessing that GL being on track is going to free up Supermax, or whatever they're calling the Green Arrow movie to be made, and they are already working on a new draft for Flash, so it sounds like DC may finally be getting its shit together.

    by horace cox

If they go the more mature and sense of gravitas route, how about Mark Strong? He's probably not a big enough name, but that cat can fucking act plus he's got intensity and great screen presence. GL is a great enough character that they don't need a big name to sell the concept. Anyway, doubt it would ever happen but I'd love to see it.

I know that every says how great Casino R, but really all the best bits were in the first half hour, and that Venice finale REALLY dragged. It was great for two reasons: Craig and Eva Green. QOS, meanwhile, had much better action, a better story, and felt to me much more connected with proper Bond tradition - instead of giving lip service to it. (BTW, have a re-watch of On Her Majesty's Secret Service: you'll see where Casino Royale stole its tricks).

1st film: his origin, of course. He would be the only GL. Villain: Blackhand or Sinestro. 2nd film: Introduce the Jon, Guy and maybe five or six other GLs. 3rd film: go all-out interplanetary. A large battle involving all the GLs in existence. An adaptation of the GL Corps miniseries from 1982 would be superb. And if there is a 4th film: bring GL back to Earth, have him team up with Green Arrow, and adapt some of the better O'Neil/Adams stories from the 70s. Yeah, that would be cool....

    My idea

    by bizarrojerry

I usually don't like when a fan posts his own plot ideas as if they could somehow come true. BUT I'm gonna do it myself, now... :) I say that the flick's arc will be hotshot jerk Jordan, caring only about himself becoming a self-sacrificing hero. He's a typical crimefighter to start, barely knowing he's part of an intergalactic group, then Sinestro shows up and starts causing all kinds of hell. Then, Hal nearly dies to protect other while fighting Sinestro, but at the end of the film dozens of GLs drop out of the sky and save Jordan. Then this sets up the second movie as a more sci-fi space story with Jordan being better trained and introduced to the Corps, maybe Sinestro escapes... whatever. You get the idea.

    by zinc_chameleon

To make sure that his powers have: (1) limits (unlimited power is what is killing Superman); (2) that his powers are based in quantum physics (believability). Check out the English writer/physicist Alistair Reynolds (Redemption Ark) for just how many problems there would be in having a personal device that messes with the quantum vacuum.

    by mooly

There is no way to take the Green Lantern story and powers and make a good movie by skimping on the budget. The ring effects and battle scenes alone would take a ton of money to do right. If ANY studio thinks that they can make this movie good by blowing the budget on some big name star, and then skimping on the effects, they are sadly underestimating the comic-movie crowd.

I came up with this idea on my own a couple years ago, and it's great to see that I'm not alone. Unfortunately he's too unknown for them to build a tentpole franchise around, but he woulda been perfect if they were still doing that stand alone Justice League movie.

Lovecraftian: Green Lantern's weakness is mostly himself

    by spyguy

The "yellow" weakness has been explained by Geoff Johns as an impurity in the rings caused by a yellow creature called Parallax that was imprisoned within the Central Power Battery.

Because Parallax is a manifestation of fear, it was learned that if a Green Lantern overcomes fear, the yellow weakness loses its effect.

I've been saying for years that Green Lantern is the Iron Man of the DC franchise. A story that hasnt' been told in the movies, that has a likeable lead hero (Hal)that's a great role for someone out there and a cool looking costume. by childofmen

Precisely because it's one of the few superheroes that is, essentially, a uniform and a power ring, but that can be worn by many people. Say you do a couple of movies and the actor doesn't want to return - you just give the ring to someone else. I mean, even within the confines of the comic itself you've already got a variety of human GL's. You really could keep churning out GL movies for years if you wanted (and that's not even to get into the thousands of aliens, etc.).

Getting Martin Campbell is a good move; go for it, WB. Campbell has a record of re-starting moribund franchises (Zorro and Bond) and he can direct the hell out of an action scene without resorting to Michael Bay-ish spinning cameras and 1-second cuts. If Warners treats this right, and woos talented writers as well, they could have a huge franchise that also produces endless spin-off possibilities.

As much as I want to see a GL movie, I don't want to sit through two hours of "Hal Jordan: Test Pilot" to see 10 minutes of "Hal Jordan: GL". It just seems like the second installments of these superhero movies is always better than the first because they have more superhero action. Examples, Superman 2, TDK, Spider-man 2, X-Men 2. If this tradition holds up, the next Iron Man movie should RULE.

    by laserpants

But Marvel is better, in general. There's a more earthy, hip quality to Marvel that DC doesn't have. Marvel heroes are more relatable, whereas DC's heroes are more mythic. For me what it boils down to is that each company puts out good books and bad books, but many more of Marvel's books are much more interesting and, for lack of a better, cool.

    by maelstrom_zero

My first exposure to Green Lantern was Jon Stewart in JLU. . .so the idea of Hal Jordan being the GL frontrunner is a bit disappointing. But then again, I'm sure I'm in the minority, considering how I know next to nothing about GL.
That being said, the concept of a Corp of people running around with omnipotent power rings is something I approve. And the fact that Campbell is producing it is even better--Mask of Zorro continues to be one of my favorite movies.
On a completely different tangent, can someone recommend me any decent GL graphic novels? I've read GL: Rebirth (which I found to be kind of boring), and I'm looking for something significantly more compelling.

The Hal Jordan origin story would be PERFECT!!!

    by ninpobugei

Seriously, the Hal Jordan origin story is ripe for telling on many levels...drama (Hal Jordan growing from a cocky test pilot to someone who takes responsibility on a galactic scale), sci-fi (Abin Sir, the Guardians, Sinestro, the GL Corps), action (GL vs. GL when Hal Jordan fights his former mentor, Sinestro), and even politics (like George Bush, Sinestro became a tyrant over the planet he was sworn to protect...he ended up micromanaging every last aspect of their lives until they both hated and feared him). In short, the Hal Jordan origin story would be a sprawling epic if given room to breathe. The story is there, a screenwriter just needs to flesh out the details for the move to the big screen. This is definitely one story that they should use essentially as-is and NOT try to reinvent the wheel.

    Reply to Talkback

And Hal Jordan is the only GL with a grand story arc!

    by ninpobugei

The rise and fall (and rise/rebirth) of Hal Jordan would make a hell of a series of movies. When his city is nuked and he goes after the Guardians while fighting - and killing - all the GL's standing in his way...WHOA! That's a superhero movie I wanna see. This could even be tied into the Justice League movies since Hal Jordan dies saving the earth in a truly grand/cosmic manner worthy of the JLA movies. His return/rebirth are pretty convoluted and might not translate well to the screen...but never before has a superhero been killed off on the big screen. That would be the final movie...no rebirth, just redemption in death. Now THAT would be a worthy contender for THE DARK KNIGHT.

emerald twilight to rebirth trilogy would be beyond epic

    by sylvian

the problem with standard origin stories is that they've been done a thousand times, no matter the variation. if you do emerald twilight as the first film - start it off with a slam bang action sequence where coast city gets nuked at the end of act 1, you'd have hal's fall and descent into madness AND a concurrent origin story running as a subplot with kyle's rise. 2nd film would be kyle's vehicle with hal/parallax as the main villain. streamline/modify zero hour/rebirth for simplicity's sake leading into the 3rd film: hal's redemption, which ends with dual green lanterns flying off into the cosmic sunset (leaving room for all sorts of franchise/gl corps films and opportunities in the future). sinestro could be say, the recurring villain through all three films. ben linus would be great for the role. have harrison ford as an aging hal jordan and matthew fox/whomever as kyle (i'd say peter petrelli has the right look, if only the guy could act). if i could simply plug a camera into my brain and wish this trilogy into existence...

    Vincent Cassel as Sinestro-

    by thevision

Arnold Vosloo as Abin Sur, Peter Dinklage as Ganthet(?), Jolene Blalock as Carol Ferris...as far as Hal Jordan goes, they have to cast older and I think Matthew Fox would be a good choice but I also think Connor Trinner from "Enterprise" would do-dye his hair brown of course or maybe Alex O'Laughlin from last year's "Moonlight" series AND WB/DC could follow Marvel trend of cameos with Matthew McConaughey as Oliver Queen- check out his pic on Wiki with 'stache and goatee!

Sinestro is a "must-have" for first film

    by ninpobugei

Hal Jordan's conflict with Sinestro IS the origin story. He was still essentially a newbie when he had to go up against his mentor. The fact that he won is how he initially became so legendary. While you could play up the mentor aspect and save the conflict for the second movie, you'd have to come up with some other villain for the initial movie...which means reinventing the wheel...something that should NOT be done (most of the time it just doesn't work). Also, I don't see a need for Hal Jordan to ever rise from the dead. It's a comic book plot device that requires way too much exposition to carry over well to a movie about that character. Simply kill him off. Most such movies only last for 3 films anyway, so why not make it dramatic and kill the hero off in the final movie? It's a geek's wet dream since it would be so much different than the typical Hollywood superhero movie.

If they can make Iron Man they can make Green Lantern

    by continentalop

For all the talk of realism about Iron Man, it still was the story of an inventor building a suit of armor in a cave. A suit of armor that could fly faster than a jet fighter, had as much power as a tank and could shoot beams from his hands. Not stuff you in modern technology. Plus, in that cave he also built a fusion reactor that he uses as a pace-maker.
I'm not knocking Iron Man. I am just saying if you present something right you can suspend any disbelief.

the conundrum is that emerald twilight is much too tasty of a story arc to not put on the screen in all its epic glory. yet, nobody wants to be stuck with a franchise kyle rayner, so we'd have to bring hal back in some form or another. maybe he doesn't ever have to actually die? he could just abdicate his parallax powers or something when all is said and done. i think the origin story with sinestro would make a good green lantern prequel like, 4 films later haha...

I agree that Sinestro should be the mentor

    by tracetroop

...but they'd have to rename the character. You can't have a believable good-guy mentor named "Sinestro." It's already slightly corny (in a kitschy Silver Age way) as a bad guy name as it is, but don't ask non-comic readers to believe that a dude named Sinestro isn't going to betray the protagonist at some point.

Also, what's the over/under on the number of nose-bleeds used to indicate severe mental strain & willpower during battle?

    by ninpobugei

Actually, I still think the best story arc would be to kill off Hal Jordan in the 3rd film. Any other future movies would be Kyle or John Stewart (my vote for Stewart, definitely!). The second or third films could have Hal training Stewart (a former military buddy...?) for just such an event. The movies have to do an awful lot in 3 movies to have the 3rd end in Hal's death (which would be redemptive from his fight against the Corp. & Guardians in movie 2). Really, you need up to 4 movies to really do it all, but either way, that puts Sinestro vs. Hal Jordan in the first movie. That's also why I noted that Hal might be killed off in a JLA movie. How wild would that be????

Campbell has rebooted BOND twice, he's made a franchise out of an out of date character (Zorro), he's PERFECT for Green Lantern! So long as it follows Geoff Johns current arc (and all the love for Alan Moore's expanded universe), there's plenty of drama for this franchise. Best old school action diretor doing giant budget intergalactic space opera?!?! I'M IN!

The first 10 mins should be Hal Jordon in an epic battle. Have Harrison Ford or someone huge paly the part then have him beaten and right before he dies pass it off to Kyle and he becomes the new Latern. Cut to the quick flash back about the history of the Latern and then Kyle trying to figure out his new powers and then he fights the baddie that killed Hal Jordan. I am thinking a slimmed down/buffed up Jason Lee as Kyle.

    by wixmmm

I don't get why people say they don't want an origin story. What, so you open with hal in an action scene using his ring in all the ways he does...the audience would just be like 'what?' You need an origin. the sucessful reboot of batman and the sucess of dark knight came in large part because of the fantastic origin of batman... in that origin story, we saw a lost soul with ass kicking potential, then we see him trained and get it handed to him until he overcame everything... i mean, batman begins and dark knight wouldn't be anything if it weren't for that incredible origin. Non-readers of green lantern need a good origin for them to get on board with. i'm so sick of people hating on origins...think BIG PICTURE... 1/4th or 1/3rd of the first movie being origin won't kill anyone... you need to build for the future, and green lantern has an infinite potential for a franshise that will be around for a long, long time. And superman needs a reboot with a new origin. Everyone saying donners still serves as the origin is just a sentimental idiot--compare early superman origin stories to birthright-- even the COMICS were able to create a more compelling origin story in todays day and age. no origins my ass.

First off, if you say that, you'd better not be a fan of the xmen movies. But not looking at movies, and looking at comics, green lantern's costume is great. X-men's are rediculous costumes, green lantern kicks their costumes asses. spiderman's costume is flamboyant... superman's is lame, but good cause its iconic, but strictly speaking, his costume is questionable, but again, great cause its iconic. Green lantern's costume is great, and kyle's lantern costume is even better. And seeing the ring in action will fuck my eyeballs. (oh no, what have i started...)

However, I'm afraid he's just not a big enough star, but I think he'd be perfect. Another choice that may be out of left field is Jensen Ackles. Someone mentioned a young William Shatner as being perfect...well, Ackles really strikes me as a young Shatner with his cocky demeanor on Supernatural. The thing is, i think he's a great actor, but he needs a defining role that isn't firefly (which he was perfect for and in which he acted perfectly) I don't know who green lantern should be, but its too early to care. what i want to know is what comic arc are they going to go with... will johns be involved (i hope he could at least be a consultant) Thing is, i don't know if johns is like gaiman--gaiman can write novels, and to my knowledge johns has not... i also don't know if he's done any screenwriting (save for smallville ep, which was basically as close to the recent superman/legion arc as you can get with smallville) so i don't know if we really want him writing the movie. Nobody can say that johns can't write story arcs and ANY comic he puts his name on is gold. (the guy must be one of the hardest working writers alive--he's done an insane amount of writing for comics, and seems to breathe new life into whatever he's working on...i mean, shit, he made booster gold an interesting character with his own monthly book.) On topic, though-- as talkbackers, we will never settle on the same 'perfect director/actor' issue... but seriously, you can't complain about campbell... it could be SOOOOOOO much worse. to know who's directing, and knowing he's capable, knowing that we are in a post TDK world, i am pumped. every comic book movie will now have the 'TDK' factor of potential legitimacy.

someone mentioned it and i didn't really think about it, but for my money, dean from supernatural was born to play hal jordan. he's perfect age, he's got that tough guy attitude and look, and he would be so easy to picture as a test pilot... in a perfect world, he'd be hal for the next 12 years.

    by anti-fanboy

Like BMacSmith said. Going galactic would be expensive, but it won't be GL otherwise. Makes me think of how epic X3 could have been with the Shi'ar Empire... Still, maybe they'll go galactic after all, only not CRAZY galactic -- not with the first movie, anyway. Hell of a lot of potential here. Never been a fan of the big green ballbats, etc, but I don't have a problem with power beams and force fields. I'd love to see this done right.

Jason O'Mara as Hal Jordan. He's the actor who plays the main character of Sam on Life on Mars. He's definitely got the look and the size for Jordan.

Ben Linus as Sinestro is friggin inspired casting in my opinion.

Common as a badass John Stewart. No issues with that believe it or not.

Guy Gardner? You gotta go with a short haired Sawyer from Lost. That would just be the shit.

Emerald Dawn storyline for this movie

    how about the costume?

    by sylvian

ok i think the general consensus is that they should avoid some realistic leather GI Joe/X-men style redo of the costume. but do we just go with straight-off-the-page hyper-bright spandex (like superman), muscled "suit" like the flash (tv series), or some techno-deviation-bullshit like batman? i'm thinking they should stick with the classic gil kane design, but with a darker, tint to the green with a bit of lustre. maybe not spandex but a leathery/vinyl sort of fabric. there wouldl also need to be some sort of artifical definition or muscling of some sort, unless arnold schwartzenegger was playing the role. why am i thinking so hard about this? maybe cuz i just finished watching queer eye for the straight guy lol...

    Script review ***Possible Heavy Spoilers***

    by nerosday

El Mayimbe at Latino Review reviewed the script in September 08 and gave it a B+ rating. Bad guys: Legion and Hector Hammond. Locations: Earth, Space, and Oa. Good guys: Hal Jordan, Kilowog, assorted other GLs. Other Characters and cameos: Alan Scott, Clark Kent, Guy Gardner, Abin Sur, and Carol Farris. NO SINESTRO. GL Powers: classic GL beams flight space travel and forming shapes and constructs at will.

Mayimbe really dug the script and said it leaves room for sequels and prequels. I can only guess that Alan Scott will fill the mentor role rather than Sinestro, but that is just a guess. Sinestro looks like he’ll be saved for the sequels by this draft. It really does sound good. If this does indeed end up being the basic plot this could be great. The writing is described as fast smart and top notch stuff.

    For the full plot

    by nerosday

check it out on Latino Review El Mayimbe pretty much lays the whole thing out blow by blow, lots of detail so don't read it if you don't want spoilers. This is the most recent draft, but it is always subject to change over the next year or so before production. the writing creds go to Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green. He also makes a point to say that Boreanaz is not on the list of potential casting and that Hal is described to be around 27... ech too young.

Thanks for the info. I thought that's what they'd do (go the Parallax route.) They'll probably need to get rid of the "yellow" weakness altogether and make it purely about fear, though, for it to be accessable to audiences. I don't really care, as long as the villainy of Sinestro and Parallax remains a golden hue. That should be enough for any fan.

I believe I'd like to see Nathan Fillian as GL. Complete with an accent. I would hope they would realize that a Test pilot is not going to be someone in their tweens. There are a lot of great young actors, but Hal Jordan was different from most other heroes in the fact that he began his superhero career after having a career of his own. You can't put a 20 something there, and actually have it be believable.

    by wixmmm

anyone who's watched a fair amount of supernatural would know that dean is WAAAAAAY better suited to be hal for a long time. The whedonite's want his guys for everything (and i am a huge whedon fan myself). Think about this, though, whedon created those fantastic shows and fantastic characters and was a MAJOR part of the reason those actors did so well. I don't watch bones, so i could be very wrong, but fillion hasn't proved himself to be given a major role like this on the basis of him being in firefly alone. Boreanez is a moot point--i think he wants to distance himself from genre roles like he had in buffy and angel. But he doesn't look like a hal at all.

Holy Cow Continentalop, Tony Stark was the Bruce Wayne

    by half vader

of the Marvel World before the GL thing! You really missed that Iron Man is Marvel's answer to DC's Batman? I can see your point about Green Lantern and they're more Silver age, but holy moly if anyone did the initial copying it was Marvel, not DC! That goes for you too, Ky-el.

Really, what's so hard to figure out? Batman. Billionaire. No super-powers. Uses his tech/money to fight crime. Iron Man. Err, same.

Chowder, "maverick casting"?! What, casting someone who can ACT instead of the braindead choice of casting because they LOOK like the character?

Which is redundant anyway because 99% of the audience are NOT comic nerds and haven't got a clue who the character looks like in the first place! Up there for thinking buddy. Thank God you're here on the net casting from your vast knowledge like the rest of the fanboys (said knowledge generally only consisting of anyone in GENRE film or tv) and not a suit or casting agent.

    by half vader

And to all the Nathan Fillion zealots - you want him for EVERYTHING. The most obvious choice? Because he's got the bloody hair for it? For fuck's sake! Because he did the VOICE?! Admittedly that was good even if NF was a huge letdown (fuck you Harry). You guys are worse than the Buffy/Angel fans. Oh, wait a sec...

Let Firefly GO, people... If fanboys and girls were allowed to cast movies things would be even worse than they are now. God if only I could find the fantasy casting league TB where someone actually suggested Pia Zadora because she looked like whoever the superheroine was! And Fillion was ALREADY cast because he sorta looked like someone else. Remember? He was a poor man's Han Solo in a show where they presupposed we were too stupid to get that Star Wars was a Western analogy so they thought they'd make it all literal and spell it out for us! God almighty... and James Marsden has better hair than Fillion AND better comedy timing for this GL thing. Suck it!! Yes I'm being sarcastic, before you pop a gasket.

What if they let whatsisname that was going to do the whole silver-age thing to Fantastic Four (see what I did there? Hyuk!) before that fuckwit Story got the gig do it to Jet-age Jordan instead. That'd work!! Double Irony!
