Cool News
Ain't It Cool Post 40,000!! ‘We're Running Out Of Time!!’ Brian K. Vaughn Co-Wrote Wednesday Night’s LOST 5.4!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
ABC says of 5.4, titled “The Little Prince”:
Kate discovers that someone knows the secret of Aaron's true parental lineage. Meanwhile, the dramatic shifts through time are placing the lives of the remaining island survivors in extreme peril. Guest starring are Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis, Susan Duerden as Carole Littleton, Tom Irwin as Dan Norton, William Blanchett as Aaron, Emerson Brooks as Tony, Stephanie Niznik as Dr. Evelyn Ariza, Melissa Farman as young Frenchwoman, Guillaume Dabinpons as Frenchman #1, Marc Menard as Frenchman #2, Bruno Bruni as Frenchman #3 and Ane Tranetzki as bellman. "The Little Prince" was written by Brian K. Vaughan & Melinda Hsu Taylor and directed by Stephen Williams.
Observations:
1) Carole Littleton is Claire’s mum, so I imagine she might be the one who wants to wrench Aaron out of Kate’s life.
2) Rebecca Mader is listed among the guest cast while Jeremy Davies and Ken Leung are listed as members of the main cast.
3) Where in time do Locke and Sawyer land this week? Do they run into sleestack and brontosauri? The four-toed Roman gods who used Smokezilla to pull the donkey wheel? And will Sawyer look all sad and call Kate “Freckles” and do absolutely nothing else when he runs into her past self?
9 p.m. Wednesday. ABC.

Can't wait for tonight.
-
It's still got it.
-
LOST!
-
is it 9pm yet???
-
now I'm going to get LOST!
-
now I have to go back and correct that mistake... fucking lost
-
Between this and Battlestar, my TV watching habits are pretty well covered and accounted for. What's with the delay in posting, though? Getting us all worked into a frothing frenzy for a reason, Herc?
-
Gotta stop reading the page before I post...Still... way excited for LOST tonight!
-
No, this is still wrong. wait, here comes the flash agaiiiii......
-
because if we weren't first to begin with, we can't go back and be first now.Damn the talkback time travel rules!
-
How is that going to work?
Does he appear to her as a black horse? Will one of them appear as a bird and manage to shout 'Hurley'? You heard it here first. -
I still want to know what Benjamin did when Locke's legs were pinned under the door while the two were in the hatch. I hope we find out during the time jumps what he did, and if he lied to Locke when he said he didn't enter the numbers. Just one of many questions I guess...but that's a small one I haven't heard anyone mention since.
-
What is there to watch? Scary thought. Not to mention 24 is not as good as it should be...not yet anyway.
-
it's finally here!
-
And I agree with others - this and BSG make the work week bearable. Sad part is only a handful of BSG episodes left. That makes me a VERY sad panda.
-
I'm starting to wonder if 'ol Smokey really is that old. I mean, not like he shows up that much in the present, but I can't help but notice that so far, in all of our time traveling adentures we have yet to see Smokey in the past.
-
We get a healthy dose of Rousseau tonight. And remember how she lost her whole crew? Perhaps the Losties accidentally kill them. Perhaps THEY are the hostiles to Rousseau...
-
I couldn't be more psyched. Desmondo, I like it. What else ya got?
-
I can't wait!!! So how many stars does tonight get? 1...2....10?!?! I'm giving it 10. One star for each time I checked the site today for Hercs update. Thank Freckles

SAWYER: "What did you say, Charlie Chan?"HIRO: "You know AfricanIsaac?"LOCKE: "Who?"CLAIRE: "Why is nobody looking at me? I need some attention here! I have Dad issues, don't you know?"SMOKE MONSTER: "Gobble! Gobble!"
-
one of Rousseau's crew is reading "Le Petit Prince." Maybe Alex is! (it's a kids book in case you didn't know)
-
is without a doubt the best show ever.
-
Smoke Monster
4-Toed Statue
Actually, that's all I can think of. The list used to be pretty long, but since the show "opened up" and went off the island, it seems more of an action/suspense show and not so much a mystery.

And when she was, she was taken weeks later

bring in the Battlestar Galactica writers to save this show!
by boomers_lips
Bale-freakout-ism #5: "He does not fucking get it!"
-
I can see Claire's mom being the face of the deed, but how would she know and what's there to gain with being a grandmom/mom when she wasn't so mommish to Claire in the first place.
Seems like a ploy to get Kate to run again. Question is (to me) is it Widmore trying to get her to lead him to the island or Sun getting Kate to lead her to Ben through Jack.
Could be both, I guess...or neither. -
just like Dee did on Battlestar Galactica!
-
Don't need to save Lost. Lost doesn't need saving as ever since Season 3 Part 2 it's been firing away and returned to glory. Every show has an uneven season, and for Lost it was season 2 and season 3 part 1. But they got it all together. Battlestar Galactica is a decent show. But it's not the end all be all. Maybe their unemployed writers can go "save" Heroes. Lost is just fine.
-
If not, then I don't care... I'll be back next week.
-
Is going to take a lot to erase the crapfest that was Season 6. So give it time. It seems to be course correcting back on track.
-
but I would still argue to Mr. Profit that while S3 part 1 was strange and disappointing as we were watching it, its actually pretty cool when you go back and watch it now. I don't think it was a total waste. But, unfortunately, I think most of the things in S2 will never be gone back to or answered, I don't see how they could. The sickness, primarily, I don't think will ever be explained. I think another problem with "answers" is that some times in those sections of the story they seemed to put emphasis on strange things that, in the end, aren't terribly important. Like the building of the air strip in S3. It seemed like a big deal when your being spoon-fed week by week. But looking back, its not really important or interesting. It would be nice to know definitively what Desmond did with the fail-safe key etc, though. Either way, it's the best show on TV right now, and doesn't need any type of "saving". The only show I love more is The Wire, and its over.
-
Yes he is......
-
Holy shit! Did you see how fast Sayid is in that clip. He's like a Jedi!!
-
Ever since post 10000 I've been waiting for one.
-
And will it contain huge spoilers like the last one?
-
Herc gets to say "40,000th!"That's pretty cool and, I guess, worth waiting for.
-
Is the one where we get to the final episode next season and they just end it. Like the Sopranos but without the long blackout. "Ya we were just jerkin yer chain. We weren't going to explain ANYthing because we didn't figure it out ourselves. Let someone remake it 20-30 years from now and let THEM figure it all out. Bye!"
-
Between that and BSG, I don't NEED a social life for the next few months. Anyone who says different is a FUCKING AMATEUR!
-
Nice... It may not have been much, but the "Eloise" reveal is by far the most surprising spoilage that spoiler hounds have gotten all season. And it didn't even come from a set report or a leaked script: it came from ABC itself.
The only thing that this can be compared to is if ABC had run an Enhanced version of "One of Them" and said that Inman's first name was Kelvin, thus spoiling a surprise reveal in LTDA. -
Lost has been totally amazing this season. 24 has been tolerable and Zodiac came out on Blu Ray. Barracks president. He looks good with his shirt off. What else do the talkbackers of the world want? This

I found out later about the spoilage. If it continues, I may actually watch these "enhanced" re-runs. As it is now, I still loathe them. If you are up to speed on the series, most of the messages are quite annoying.

If not, I'm so glad I stopped watching during season three.

synopsis
-
SUPER SPOILER
Simple. He stumbles upon Kate helping Claire give birth to Aaron, "The Little Prince", in the jungle. Sawyer shrugs it off and moves on.
That is all.
-
With BSG coming to an end in less than ten episodes, Corner Gas signing off in the next couple of months, and Lost coming to an end next year, anything I watch after that will be meh/anticlimactic. Sure 24 will probably still be on but it looks like my love affair with television will end with the end of Lost.
-
Don't do it. It's a trap!
-
How do you know this?
-
...people never have wedged Lost and BSG in a cock fight, while, when Heroes came out, most of their fans pit it up against Lost and said that Heroes was the second coming. I think that speaks a lot about the demographics that the shows attract. For some reason, Lost fans are also Battlestar fans and vice versa, but were never Heroes fans.
-
You remember when you stopped watching and decided to announce it to all of us- you're awesome! And it's your fucking loss.
-
amen! the more complicated, the better. It's the beginning of season three that said it was time travel. In Locke's airport dream, Jack was taking off his watch to have Ben let him through the doorway. When Colleen the other died, Jack said "time of death.." looked around, no clocks, and didn't finish the sentence. duh.
-
Is anyone else concerned these time jumps are going to create plot holes? Time travel is such a risky thing in ANY movie I feel and there always seems to be some loophole or inconsistency. I cannot even IMAGINE being a writer on Lost: with it's complex tapestry of past, present, future: and adding this time travel business into the mix without screwing up continuity. I got a headache just typing that.
-
It shows what can happen when writers don't plan out blueprints in advance. But the Lost writers seem to have their shit together in this regard. They actually bother to acknowledge what they've done before, unlike the Heroes writers who forgot that Peter's girlfriend was left in the future.
-
The room 23 blog crew's not here yet?
This gonna be a long night!!!
Is there any french people like me here that are to wait all night to get the new EP? Hold on brothers!! -
hooray...its time for the weekly lost drinking game
-
A LOST casting sheet got leaked a few weeks back...with brief scene descriptions...that was one of the scenes on the shot sheet.
I wish I could have unread it then...and I still wish it right now. Damn spoilers!! -
The checkerboard pattern at the bottom of the screen probably has a hidden DHARMA message in it.
-
1st up, last weeks recap. Time to get LOST. Yaaaaaa!
-
didnt scott bakula and crew go back in time and find borg technology on the show enterprise? wouldnt that discovery catapult the federation's technology by leaps and bounds? the time travel episodes always seemed to convolute the cannon in star trek. for some reason the time traveling (skipping) that is going on right now on lost doesnt bother me. i think the time travelling will stop before too many more eps. what has darlton had to say about how long the time travels will happen? how many eps before faraday or bentham can correct the skips? that is assuming that daniel or jeremy are the ones that stop it. maybe daniel doesnt really want it to stop.
-
i kind of wish you would have kept that spoiler to yourself but the horse is out of the barn now.
-
Brody was here - with a spoiler - and I dropped in a couple times. Does seem odd not to see the usual gang here but LOST has been so good this year I think we all want to stay as spoiler free as possible.I won't be back until after 11:00 - I also like Life On Mars. though not enough to expect it to have it's own talkback.
-
through the pasture.
-
your blog rocks
-
Looking up I see Redfishbluefish and RBrog wee here too, so the Lost blog has been well represented even without a 'constant' presence.
-
is life on mars pretty good? i havent checked it out yet but the commercials look o.k. gretchen mol dressed in seventies clothing sounds like a good reason to watch. ive always liked her.
-
nap, i am not a 'constant' contributing force to the blog but my name is on that short list too.
-
before the East Coast starts talking about the episode since I live in the LA area. Abetyler thanks for the kind words on the blog.
-
And you don't retain lots of bad memories? With your name, I'd expect you to keep all of them. Lousy joke over.
-
I don't think they forgot about the sickness that Rousseau was talking about. I think it's the same thing that happened to Desmond and is happening to Charlotte. Time travelling without a constant. I've been thinking it was that since last season.
-
Life On Mars is pretty good - depending on your interest in '70s cop movies and early '70s nostalgia. Good stories, great cast - Keitel, Imperioli, Mol - and they pick the GOOD '70s music for the soundtrack, not just random hits off the charts like other '70s Shows like Swingtown.
-
It's intensity is at an all time high, interest is at an astonishing level, and yeah, there are still questions to be answered, but it's still one of the best written, best acted shows on tv. I guess it's like Star Trek and Star Wars to some people, can't we enjoy both?
-
East costers, be prepared, everybody on the deck!
-
Both have Michelle Forbes, too.
-
No cell phones in hospitals!!
-
Wow. Sayid doing it Jack Bauer-style.!
-
is anyone elses sound seem a bit low and just.. off? like when the commercials come on the sound becomes a little louder and clearer, but when the shows on the sound is just low and doesnt "boom" as much. and its not the normal "commercials artificially have higher volumes to get attention" thing. its low and muffled compared to other channels as well...
-
Wish they would stop mumbling; hard to understand.
-
Sounds kinda muffled on the island scenes more than anything, but yeah...sound in general is off.
-
So glad I didn't read that spoiler about how Sawyer saw Kate...WOW.
-
I was hoping you were wrong.
-
do you have direct tv too?
-
please.

I definitely haven't "Lost" that loving feeling...Ha Ha!!
by arcangel2020
Lost continues to be excellent and strong so far this year!!
So far I have liked each new epsiode of the season and the newest one this week definitely doesn't disappoint Lost fans...it seems as if the shows creators haven't "lost" their direction (get it? "lost"..ha ha!! Ohhh the intended pun!! ha ha!!) and still appreciate the shows fans! Something sadly admitted/said..the creator and writers of "Heroes" could learn from and get THAT show back on track! (Just my humble opinion!) -
..No I don't have DirectTv, I'm watching on Comcast cable. Must be something wrong with the HD output coming out of ABC, so it's not a local or cable/satellite problem. Fucking annoying.
-
So it's ABC.
-
I'm fuzzy on how this time-shifting shit works.
-
Anything they're holding at the time of the flashes comes with them.
-
time travel's a bitch!either that or "I take it back!!!"
-
during Scrubs as well
-
But they weren't holding the boat, just sitting in it.
Time travel is stoopid. -

Season 2 forgotten "answers" wise? I'm not sure about that
by filmfreak3000
I think stuff in season 2 will slowly become more relevant to the story. We already got some of that last week. The H-bomb for example... Faraday tells them to bury it about 8 feet in concrete. Look back to the 4th episode in season 2, when Sayid is examining that wall of concrete in the Hatch. I'm sure imputing the numbers and Desmond turning the key have to do with that H-bomb. As for the sickness...we never got many details on that before. Perhaps its the same thing that's happening to those suffering from the time travel.
-
Jin!
-
Jin!
-
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT
-
Holy crap!
-
I thought it might happen, but not like that.
-
The island is not the same without our favorite Micheal beater.
-
in a couple of seasons
-
Has Rousseau ever recognized Jin before? Or am I missing something and it doesn't work like that?
-
Sweet.... Happy now
-
I'm confused, I thought the French people in raft were from Danielle's group that got stranded there many years ago. So how is Jin at same time period?
-
Now he has to learn French
-
With Sawyer and Jin.. you bring the bad ass aspect of the crash survivors two notches.
-
Jin is jumping through time as well
-
Your the shit!
-
Damn you non-french. One of the guy who was speaking French on the boat sounded like someone who doesn't speak french reading french lines trying to sound French.
-
According to Faraday, even if you interact with people in the past, you can't mess up the future...course correction fixes the problem. At least, that's how I assume they'll explain how russeau doesn't recognize jin. if that IS russeau and her team.
-
They're playing the Season 3 finale music when Kate met a bearded Jack. Or at least a variant of it.
-
Sun is a bitch!
-
I'm sitting here at work reading all this shit. Why do I do this to myself. I can't watch it for about an hour. I'm crying right now. And peeing. It's very uncomfortable. Kinda like old Kevin Smith references.
-
Cause all Asians look alike
-
Some cheat-sheet episode for late arrivers?
-
Well Rousseau was a bit insane..
-
just gets better every episode!
-
Jin infects the French with the Sickness, and it's a little-known fact that South Koreans are in fact four-toed, and disperse into smoke beasts at the moment of death. Also Jin's middle name is Jacob. Everything is all coming together...
-
During the Enhanced Episode, the popup box said that the Others have battled two groups of people on the island - the Oceanic crew and the Dharma group.
I thought The Others were part of Dharma. I've been watching since episode one, so either I forgot something or am confused.
Can anyone nudge me with a reminder? -
but, FUUUUUUUUUCK!!!
-
It'll never happen but it's a nice fantasy anyway. Maybe at Lost's ultimate show finale, Ben will get his comeuppance though. He better...
-
James Ford had very little of.. If they'd starting boning that'd be weird. She's all motherly with him. And beside Sawyer is still stuck on Kate.
-
But this show has a way of being surprising even when it's not. That's good writing.
-
The others killed off Dharma in the purge...when Ben killed his dad.
-
The Others were the hostile.. who purged Dharma.
-
The Others are some sort of group involving Richard that has always been there. Dharma was a group of scientists who came there to study the island, and Ben came with them as a little kid. They were all killed in "the purge" because they couldn't lvie peacefully on the island with the others. The others killed them all with smoke grenades, and Ben had to kill his Dad in order to join them and become one of them. Remember now?
-
Is this a possible look into futures episode of Lost?
-
Why does everyone assume that it was an actual illness? Maybe Danielle just went crazy and killed everyone? They take her baby, they attack her and maybe kill some of her colleagues, there are whispers in the jungle and a smoke monster. Who's to say she didn't just go nuts?
-
Remember that Ben left the Dharma group to eventually lead the Others and they killed off the Dharma people in a Purge.
-
I'm not digging on the new Danielle. How is she going to look that much different because she's younger? So dumb.
-
They set up Ben saying "That's my lawyer" like it was some big deal? The music swelled like there was going to be some profound revelation only to have him say that. I laughed.
-
What we don't know is if all the "hostiles/others" are immortal, or if it's just richard. I'm thinking it's just richard. The rest of them are a hodge podge of people who got stuck on the island one way or another, before dharma arrived.
-
with our gang when every other item on previous time shifts remain behind (tents, etc.)? Am I missing something?
-
of course danielle looks different, its a different actress. what did you expect, for them to actually go back in time and bring back a 20yrs younger version of her?
-
Instead of getting shot by Ethan, Locke timewarped on top of the cliff just in time to warn Boone not to get on then warped back with Boone alive and well- he prevented Boone from being killed BUT as Desmond explained to Charlie, Boone will die eventually because he was meant to.
-
with all the time travel stuff now going on, who's to say richard hasnt/isnt just going back and forth through time. i mean maybe he is some sorta god or whatever but the time travel would sure explain his appearance never changing throughout time.
-
For all we know, Jin gave the French some strain of Flu for which they had never been vaccinated.
-
Okay, now I remember! So much has happened in the show and it is stretched out over years, it's sorta like a book series I read and can't remember the stuff that happened in the first book.
Thanks again. -

by mthrndr
I mean, Rousseau's colleagues all die, she gives birth and the others steal hear baby and leave her to wander around the jungle for 16 years. that's some cold shit.
-
Just saw it during Life On Mars. It's scenes from Lost re-enacted with action figures. Like Robot Chicken without the humor. WTF?
-
figure 20 years younger, she has more meat on her face, PLUS she's pregnant. the older one we saw was living castaway style in the jungle...ages and changes ya a bit. i think it was decent casting anyway....
-
I was hoping they'd bust Hurley out of jail prison break style. Turns out, Ben's got a great lawyer. I guess you'd have to being a man like Ben. Love how he just admits blame to Kate and Jack. Love how he calls Kate out on her not being the mother. Good cliffhanger with Sun, and Jin's big reveal was well done. Sawyer's still great with the one-liners.
-
I dunno call me crazy for thinking they might hire a younger actress that looks like the same species as the original.
-
how the secret six, significant seven...however many there were are going to get back to the island. Jack gets his wish.
-
if you didnt like the tv version, doubt you'd like that one but yeah...its much longer.
-
Locke's question to Miles, "are you sure you haven't been on the island before?"
Hmmm... theories? -
damn...she looked like a kid to me and i'm not even that old myself. lol and its sad to see how hot she used to be....damn you island!!!!
-

Miles is a younger version of the dude from those training tapes
by bouncy x
not sure how that would even work out but aside from Jin, he's the only other asian character so yeah...thats my impossible scenario.
-
son of Dr. Candle?
just a random guess. only so many asians on the show. and maybe at some point he will 'talk' to his dad and we will figure out some of that missing arm bullshit! -
you just may be right about that...good call. I bet we find out in a future episode that the people firing at faraday/juliet/etc. are jack, kate, sayid, etc.
that's insane! -
Made him look like the great pumpkin. The description from ABC for next week says that Ben is "stymied" in his efforts to get the O6 together. Do you suppose it will be because of Sun, Kate, or Hurley?
-
I'd bet anything.
-
i thought that too- that it was them shooting at themselves. maybe with one group just a few seconds ahead of the other. did anyone count the shots? did our guys fire the same amount of shots as the unknown boaters?
-
forget who mentioned that earlier but yeah...i am french myself and i cant count how often i've watched american shows have french characters played by actors who barely speak the language or obviously only learned it during filming. it happened on Alias once too (J.J. french conspiracy?), its just hilarious. i mean the american audiences will never notice but its always funny to see happen. i guess it makes me see how british people feel when american/canadian actors play british and suck at it.
-
Miles is definetly Candle's son. They got him and baby Charlotte out to avoid the purge. Count on it.
-
Still old friend...........
-
..not at themselves. One group shooting ahead, one behind. Rather if you subscribe to my theory...it's the oceanic six in the darkened craft who had crashed on the island in an Ajira plane.
-
havent seen the episode in forever but, there was one where danielle's daughter and her boyfriend rode a boat back to shore, i think it was the same boat they were on tonight. wasn't he shot when they arrived? i'm probably wrong but yeah. oh and im sure posting a lot tonight...im gonna go to bed and pretend i have a life now.
-
I think it's obvious that the Oceanic Six are going to find there way back to the island, but I highly doubt it's going to be from another plane crash. I'm not saying I know how they're going to find it, but it won't be a plane crash.
-
Feb 04, 2009 9:48:47 PM CST
canoe time-travelled because they were touching it I assume.
by brokenheath
Or else when time skipped they would lose their clothes and all other physical items they had as well. Now that would be an interesting scenario! As for Danielle, if you were stuck on desert island for 16 years under hot sun and scrounging for food in jungle, you'd lose your baby fat too and look emaciated and wrinkly as well.
-
i hadn't read your other post, just someone's response.it was obviously the future, we know the gang have to get back somehow, so yeah, how ironic if the returning gang shoot at the very people they are trying to save. but why would they risk shooting at people they (assumedly) couldn't make out in case it WAS the left-behind gang? unless they were too far to shout and sayid, being a better shot, was purposely missing them and aiming for oars, etc?
-
"I take that back!"
-
oh yeah , DUH...it doesn't have to be another crash. they just had some water from their nearby flight. they get there by the small boats, maybe from a larger boat. but the plane water just means that at some point, they took a flight.
-
I said the same thing as loosejerk. If you read my post at 9:37, I say that I bet (based on loosejerk's hypothesis) the people in the back boat are sayid/jack/kate, etc. (oceanic 6) shooting at faraday and the others.
-
speaking as someone who happened to often be somewhere and in the same place where french people were... i know for a fact that french is just english spoken with a ridiculous french accent
-
they are filling in missing info from previous seasons and planting seeds for future episodes. they always have, i know, but it's definately snowballing now. Now we are smart enough to sort of see where the thing with the plane water bottles is going. in earlier series we wouldn't have thought that much about it. now, more than ever, every scene, prop, or word seems to have purpose. no filler.
-
Way to have absolutely nothing meaningful happen.
While I'm sure this is all setting up the final endgame for the next 20 or so episodes, it just felt like tonight episode did nothing but tread water. All of the off-island stuff was pointless and had nothing of importance. They just all met up in the end after roaming around freely. Same goes for the on island shenanigans, which had absolutely nothing happen except for a few nosebleeds that you won't see payoff for. Jin coming back was a pleasant surprise, and probably the most meaningful thing to occur. But the hopping through time plot point for this particular episode had absolutely no effect. So Sawyer saw Kate and Claire (mmmm)? Big whoop. So Jin is in Rousseau's time? Ok...kinda cool, but it'll probably lead nowhere either.
The island being unstuck in time is a neat concept, but they're just executing it poorly. (And of course, I'm going to come back and eat crow when they make all the weird questions we've had for the last four seasons be a direct result of these time-hopping excursions.)
I love LOST, but this one was just lame as fuck. -
That was Jin from back at the beginning of season 2, after the raft blew up and they never showed how he got back to shore.
-
He wouldn't have had such a good understanding of English if it was Season 2 Jin.
-
Did anyone else see the ad ABC placed during tonight's episode that showed Harold Perrineau in a role for that series? Does that mean Michael will not make another appearance on LOST?
-
interesting idea. One question: Did Jin speak English at that point? Because he spoke a bit tonight, which would lead me to believe that this is post explosion.
-
that was danielle rousseau back when she wasnt old.
pay attention. -
I liked your idea for a second. But it doesn't work. How would Sept 2004 Jin have travelled back in time to Rousseau Time?
-
It's funny that...

"That's my lawyer"
Great delivery as always. -
But with tough love for Heroes right about now.
-
Loved tonight's episode. They are clearly trying to set up everything that will be happening in future episodes. I like how they are not spreading out the storyline of the O6 getting back together over the course of the entire season, instead it'll be done in only a few episodes.
And this is why...WARNING BIG SPOILERS AHEAD
I was watching a tv behind the scenes thing on Lost for season 5. You can probably find clips from it on Youtube. The major thing is that they were filming episode 10 of this season and they showed a behind the scenes clip of a scene from that episode. Here's a big spoiler! The scene was of Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley stepping out of a Dharma van into the Dharma Neighbourhood dressed in Dharma Workclothes, being greeted under a banner that reads "Welcome New Recruits". And that's by episode 10, absolutely no idea what that all means. But it was definite footage, and I think a pretty big spoiler. -
And Sayid should get one too!
-
Sun Jack Kate Aaron Hurley Sayid... We know that they'll rope in the helicoptor pilot Lapidus. What about WAA-ALL-LTT!!!? What about Yi Jeon, who was still a fetus when she was on the islland. don;t they have to go back, too, or does Ben have a different definition of "All"?
-
Jin, Claire, Danielle and Alex (the bump) again.REmember when Ana Lucia got her teeth straightened betweeb meeting Jack in the airport and landing on the island? Looks like Claire's mom took her part of the insurance settlement and had some freaky warts removed. At least she had years between appearances to get it done, not like having major dental work done on a plane.
-
Too much "Plot driving the characters." and not enough "Characters driving the plot.".
-
I thought it was great! Sure not everything that was introduced in episode 1 of this season has been answered but it is only episode 4. And they have been filling in enough of the questions that have been asked.
I agree about the canoe though. It's my understanding that everything they had with them from the initial time-jump is only what comes with them, thus the zodiac always being on the beach no matter where they are in time. So when they jumped while in the canoe, shouldn't they have just been floating in the water? Same with the guns they took from young-Widmore and the others.
Everyone talking about how Jin is showing up in the water, I think it's pretty obvious he was in the radius of the "white-light" when the time-jumps started, however, since he was on the boat, than shouldn't that also be jumping with them? I dunno, just a thought.
As for the sickness everyone keeps bringing up tonight. I agree that it's probably these time-jumps. Or maybe even something to do with the nuclear bomb. Perhaps they uncover it and all get radiation poisoning. I'm just spit-balling here guys.
Most of all, I feel really bad for Jin. Think about it guys. He crashes on this island, can barely speak any english, just when he thinks he's getting off the island the boat blows up, he drifts in the water for a few hours/days and than is found by French people 16 years ago in time. Now he just has no frackin' clue what's going on. If the sky lights up again, he's fucked, he's not going to know where the hell he is. Better hope Locke and crew find him quickly. -
I thought the first ten minutes were a real grabber. While the "How and Why did Sam time travel back to 1973" is an ongoing mystery, the cop story had a beginning, middle and end. And Sam still had wounds and bruises from previous episodes - something common enough these days but practically unheard of back when I grew up. And think how grisly those decapitated heads and headless bodies would have been if this was CSI or Bones or House...I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of meat, but I'm sure a few of you stayed tuned out of curiousity over the "Lost Unraveled" promos. Anyone see it for the first time? What did you think? (I ask that here since there's not much chance of Life On mars getting a talkback here. Not if Fringe doesn't get one...)
-
What boat are you saying should have traveled with Jin, the one we saw blow up? (presumably after he jumped ship, since there was no one on the deck right before it exploded.)
-
or knows anything about the law? Because I have a question. Can somebody get a judgement entered against that compells them to give up DNA and blood samples and not know anything about it? I would think that Kate would have been present at any court proceeding like that, right? It can't be a big surprise correct?
-
Only reason how he could travel back in time, and his english is better too. He most likely jumped the ship just before the blast and ended up getting caught in White Radius which yanked him away from the blast on freighter.
And that raises question, if someone else was also sent back in time? -
Just wanted to know what theories are out there about Locke and Christian. Doesn't it strike odd that Christian not only happened to be in a coffin on 815, but how Locke is very much likely to end up in a very similar situation? Maybe Oceanic 815 crashing wasn't accident, but part of plan to bring Christian home. Maybe, even Christian isn't really dead [if Locke is alive].
-
Loved that the Danielle history is being shown. I cannot believe how retarded people are by saying it isn't Jin from the freighter. And that it's Jin from Michael's boat. Retards. Jin spoke ABSOLUTELY NO English when they crashed and of course, why would the name Danielle Roussau startle him??
Do you fool know your own names? One other thing: The boat Michael made was from alot of bamboo and tree. Nothing very solid like what we saw Jin floating on tonight. br>
And that GOD Juliet is getting nosebleeds! I'll post that again for the amens.
-
YES! YES!!!!!
There is a god! Fuck that filthy fucking street-(and jungle) walker!! -
...do people think Jin is somehow in a different time from the Locke group?
Clearly he's been shifting through time just like everyone else and while the Locke group has found items from the French boat, the French folk have found Jin on the ocean. -
At the time of the initial jump theory doesn't work either, because then the bullet wouldn't have stayed in Locke's leg.
I stand by my initial assessment. Time Travel=Stoopid
Also, Sawyer's line would have been MUCH funnier had the canoe disappeared and they ended up floating out at sea anyway. -
THAT is a very good observation. But possibly like the compass, it can travel if it is connected or touched to the Losties who are jumping. But the raft (like the camp) disappearing would have made more sense.
-
Can someone explain why there's 2 versions of Jin? In a previous episode (post return of the Oceanic 6) they revealed that Jin was alive and in the real world--but apparently had no memory of Sun, as he was buying a stuffed animal for his Boss's newborn.
Yet here we see Jin (presumably from the destroyed freighter) arrive on the beach, caught in the same time-shifts as Locke/Sawyer/Juliet and company. What the heck's going on? -

Jin is officially the king of surviving boat explosions!
by cheif brody
First the raft...now the freighter. Dude has skills. So good to see him back...and yes, he is fucked, unless Dan, Sawyer, Locke & Co. find him quick. But at least meeting the preggers Danielle, means he's got a pretty good clue that 'he's not in Kansas anymore'. I'm sure he's got enough English in him to ask "What year is it?" next week. Glad he was inside the flashes radius!
Sorry about dumpin that huge ass spoiler earlier...But...Ya didn't have to READ it, lucid!! Like I said...I wish I hadn't. That leaked LOST cast/shot sheet was LOADED with spoilers...Including the young Rousseau actresses' name and her props. Thank GOD Jin's name was nowhere on it! At least that one gave me a jolt!
Ok...now my random thoughts n' theories. Jin is in the same time period as Dan, Sawyer & Co...16 years before 815 crashed...and right after Rousseau got shipwrecked. Their just on different sides of the island. Miles is Candle's kid. Charlotte was born on the island...and Juliette's been on the island for a few years. So...the nosebleed "sickness" (which has nothing to do with the OTHER "sickness", IMO) is based on HOW LONG you've been associated with the island, and spent time on it. Charlotte the longest...Miles the second longest...and Juliet third. It won't be long before Sawyer & Locke start feeling the effects, too. I also don't think NOT having a constant has anything to so with stopping this...Desmond found HIS constant by CONSCIOUSNESS travelling...NOT time travelling. Two different things...that's what makes Des "special". Thanks, Fail Safe Key!
Ok...I do believe the outriggers belonged to Jack, Kate, Sayid, Ben and the rest of the 0-6(7)...they flew to Fiji via Ajirra Airlines, hence the water bottle, took a boat to just off the island, and then outriggered in. The beach camp was deserted and weather beaten...which means that was the island crew's first flash forward. Probably to the present day. I don't think that was the 0-6 shooting at the island crew in front of them...That would be kinda ridiculous for them to start shooting BEFORE they found out who it was they were shooting at...they come all that way to SAVE their friends...and start opening fire?...while not under any attack themselves? Nonsense.
That is more Widmore people! I think we'll start to see a race develop this season...The race between Ben & the 0-6...and Charles Widmore & crew. Charles will find a way to get back to the island ("Hey, Walt...I need your help to save your father...But I need your help...can you lead me back to the island, son?"..."Sure, Mr. Widmore...and we gotta get my dog, too!"). The showcase showdown between Ben & Charles will take place ON the island.
I agree that the 0-6's story was kinda weak this outting...I mean...who didn't see that Ben was pulling the strings with that lawyer? Ben NEEDS Kate to WANT to go back to the island...why not create a reason for her to start "running" again? So all that running around and kate STILL doesn't wanna go back...and Hurley's still in the pokey. Meh. The island shit was outstanding, however. I still think the LOST ship is running lean and trim. Episodes are just flying by so fast! I am dreading the end...but I can't wait to get there!!
Namaste...and GO TEAM VINCENT!! -
Really? Wow...you need to go rewatch that episode where Jin is trying to buy stuffed animal...Watch it again...and see if it doesn't answer your own question.
Hint...Only ONE of them is really in the future. -
...I believe the Jin part in that episode was a flashback while Sun part was a flash-forward. basically it was all a trick to make us believe Jin is buying it for Sun and is alive only to reveal his grave at the end.
-
How stupid are you? The ep with Jin was BOTH flash-forward and flash back. It was Jin in the past. Not after the freighter explosion.
-
Have Danielle and Jin met before in seasons prior to this?
-
somehow concept of 'everything with them' reeks too much of lazy sci-fi. At end of the day, everything is matter and/or wave. Time travel doesn't distinguish if any object was ON a biological entity or not.
However, a better explanation could be, anything and everything that was in *motion* or not still within radius, is caught in time-jump. THAT would make much more sense than 'everything on them. -
... how to have characters show us what's going on instead of telling us. Several times this episode, we're told things we don't need to be told. "I saw Kate!" "That's when I went back to the hatch!" "I'm in jail!" "Hello - my name's Rousseau!" "I sent the lawyer to you!" While some didn't like that we didn't see characters discussing things with each other in the early seasons, that's what made the show interesting - they didn't spell things out for us. Let people that can't follow watch the pop-up version next week at 8pm.
-
Certainly has a knack for making pivotal exposition episodes exciting. LOVE that he's part of LOST. It just makes me have that much more confidence that the show will end brilliantly (the ending to Y The Last Man was so fulfilling).
Couple of thoughts. Arija Airways is how the Oceanic 6 get back? Perhaps when they found that canoe, that was part of Ben's team? That was initially what I thought, but then they started shooting at them. And then wouldn't they stop skipping through time? Or is the show just following a linear causal narrative where we watch them go through the motions? I'm confusing myself. -
Just talking to a friend of mine about that. I think everyone saw her appear out of the jungle and warn everyone about the Others attacking in sea 1. So, he may just know the name in passing. Jin not speaking english would have limited any conversation.
-
Danielle has seen Jin at least twice that I can think of:
lead up to the season 1 finale
lead up to the season 3 finale and into season 4
-
Like we all thought he was dead, right? (I knew he was still alive and said as much last year!) But can he save future Danielle and her daughter? And I thought the Tiki-raft might disappear with the flash, but that can be explained by any number of reasons and isn't a big concern for me. Why do people say there are no more flashbacks? Everything that's happening on the island is 3 years earlier than what's happening to the 6, off island. (So it's a flashback!) So when do the two timelines intersect and catch up to each other? New theory for Adam & Eve: Sawyer and Juliet? Discuss amongst yourselves...
-
Better not be Sawyer and Juliet. I cannot stand her character. I'd love it to be Penny and Desmond, but they didnt find a bay in the cave so who knows.
Kate tonight: (to Jack) I've ALWAYS been with you....hmmmmm.
btw, FUCK Juliet. -
Danielle didn't recognize Jin...because it's frickin' 1988...she hasn't MET Jin yet. So...In essence, this was their FIRST meeting. Now...as to why she didn't recognize him in 2004? Who knows? But it's not like she's gonna have a long visit with him...and he was kinda weather beaten...Perhaps 2004 Jin just didn't click in her mind cuz he was always looking good and NOT speakin any English? I don't remember them ever having a one-on-one connection...But after 16 years fending for herself...killing her entire crew...having her newborn abducted...dodging Others and Smoke Monsters for 16 years...Jin may have slipped her mind.
Onezeroone..."Time travel doesn't distinguish if any object was ON a biological entity or not."...Wow...THAT'S how time travel works? So glad to hear your the authority on something that hasn't been invented yet! (BTW...Al Gore invents it in 2023. Trust me.)...
I don't have any problem with the outrigger still being with them...I'm more concerned as to why the people around them do flash jump, too. Like the first jump...Locke standing with Alpert and the Others (great band name!!)...FLASH!!...Only John standing there alone. Why didn't the rest of them jump? Why didn't Kate, Claire & newborn Aaron jump tonite while Sawyer was watching them?
Simply put...I don't know what the LOST "rules for time travel" are...and neither does anyone else...yet. But I do know that Locke & company just stole a 2007 outrigger...and took it back to 1998. If only they had found a Sports Almanac...oh...wait...that's been done already.
-
Now this isn't right at all... does anyone know if boone is really dead? Or is that just a trick. Can't wait to see how they deal with Claire and her baby on the island now. Go Locke! Oh shit, here comes that light agaiiiiii.....

The island is skipping through time like a stone on a pond
by malificus
and every time it tries to re-set itself it can't do so properly because there are people missing. It will continue to re-set until all the pieces are in place, and that is also why Ben is on such a tight deadline. One by one they will all start bleeding then convulsing, then dying unless the island stop skipping. I predict a scene where Aaron's nose starts bleeding as well and that is what will convince Kate to take him back.
-
Now tell me, how you think time-travel works? It works within principle of physics, not biology. It's not authority or anything, just common physics sense. Does Gravity distinguish between biological and non-biological? Or for that matter inertia? Or any other Physics phenomenon? No. So it isn't exactly rocket science to deduce that Time Travel won't either.
Unless you got a better theory, I'd love to hear (: Hey, none of us are experts, just sci-fi geeks. Got a problem with a theory, counter it or find holes in it. But please don't defend a lousy theory by an explanation like one you just gave. -

Would have been funny if Sayid woke back up on the island.
by kbarber29
-
So can Sawyer's rifle and Daniel's knapsack and Mile's canteen, etc.
So surely, the canoe can jump. -
hmm... okay, here is my theory on this [I used the words 'my theory']
Let's take the record skipping example. Only, this record player both plays back as well as records the new song [present]. So, I'd say, Kate Aaron and Claire are the song already recorded on the record, while Sawyer is like a bit of debris that came OFF the record and got stuck to the pinhead. And now, coz of that debris [Sawyer etc.] the record is unable to playback some of the parts and is *skipping*.
To be fixed, it needs to deposit the debris [Sawyer] back to where it was supposed to record it. Only, to do that it needs rest of the data/song/debris that got stuck to head and didn't get *recorded*.
Makes sense, or should I try another example?
-
Awesome, and surprisingly funny blog! Nice theories and all...But it doesn't explain why the 2007 outrigger was still under the island crew's asses after the jump.
Then again...I don't care if it ever gets explained. Those looking for "time travel paradoxes and trip ups" are missing a great show.
Enjoy the ride...and just hope your outrigger stays with you. -
That kid was the only thing born on that island.
-
She is sexyyy.
-
from the season opener , miles and Charlette were born on the island and getting the noise bleeds but why on earth is Juliets nose bleeding??? that really throws me off.
-
Charlotte was born there, Miles is Candles son, Juliet has been on the island for at least 2 years now.

3 new polls for "The Little Prince at Room 23

The only thing bright about you is your talkback name.
Charlotte (spelled right) WAS on the island from a previous point in time. Wonder why she recognized the polar bear remains idiot? She LEFT the island. Same with MIles. -
Please...do not think I was calling you out on yer time travel theory. Theories are like assholes. Some smell better than others. Mine usually smell rancid.
I'm just saying...you were coming on like some kind of "expert" on the subject...that's all...when we're talking about a principle that is science-FICTION...hasn't happened yet...hasn't been tested yet...and even Hawking, Einstein's and Casimir's "theories" of time travel are no better than my mail man's...because it's never been accomplished/proven.
I was actually looking at LOST's "rules of time travel" based upon OTHER depictions of time travel from other entertainment outlets...i.e; Back to the Future (Hey, you CAN bring back a future Sports Almanac!), to The Philadelphia Experiment, to all the bone headed Star Trek takes on the phenomenom (Save the Whales, Save the Universe!).
I am NO time travel expert...and as anyone in here will tell you...I was very, VERY worried about LOST allowing such a tired sci-fi cliche to take the forefront of the show. I am happy to say...So far...I haven't thrown my TV into my pool yet. Darlton & company are doing it in a way that makes as much "sense" as it possibly can...and I even find it to be a great vessel to propelling the show, and those pesky questions that need answering, in a faster, mind blowing fashion. I'm actually GLAD the old format (standard flashbacks/forwards) have been thrown out...Would anyone like an episode with Danielle flashing back to her first arrival on the island for a solid hour? I wouldn't...Plus...this way makes it more "interactive" for our LOST characters to actually INTERACT in the people in the flashbacks.
I trust Darlton & the razor sharp writers will avoid all the time travel pit falls...and if an outrigger is their biggest mistake...I'll cut 'em some slack.
Now...if a flyin DeLorean shows up...we got a problem.
-
No sweat (: My concern is that explaining it simply as 'everything on them travels' comes across as lazy time travel theory, something that was almost spoiling the fun for me. Like opinions and assholes, another thing all geeks have is their own ideas and holy grail ideas about time-travel (: Was just sharing mine. Sorry if came across as someone riding the high horse, never intended to.
-
We know Darlton follow how Hawking and Minkowski think about space time (time is a spatial fourth dimension) and they both theoretically believe that time travel is possible with the application of wormholes. So I always describe this to my friend like this: think about going down a river and you get sucked into a whirlpool (or maelstrom), you can go forward in that river, or backwards, but you can't do anything to change the past or future cause eveyrthing already exists on that river. So when you get sucked into this whirlpool (or wormhole) everything you have with you stays attached. There is no dissimination of matter of any sort. You are traveling through that wormhole with what you have and the vessel (whether it be the zodiac or outrigger) you are on. Remember, everything ALREADY exists within a spacetime dimension, what the lostaways are doing are just rearranging certain objects from that spacetime continuum.
-
Charlotte's started first...and she was born there...and possibly stayed ON the island longer than, say, Miles, who may, or may not ALSO have been born on the island, but obviously spent some time there with Ma & Pop Halliwax. So...he was second to get the nose bleeds. Now...only a day and a half (island time) after the flashes started...Juliet's nose is on the rag...and she's only been there 2 years! John & Sawyer have only been on the island a lil over 2 months...but...ya have to imagine...they only have a day at the most before their noses will be bloody.
I think ONE of those crew will die from this affliction (cough * Charlotte * cough * Guest Star * cough!)...to show the dire consequences of all this time hopping, before it gets fixed...and the island gets 'stuck' finally in a time period.
But...don't fear...I bet Dan will find a way to resurrect the red head before any funeral..I mean...Ben's bringin dead Bentham for a reason, right? -
even more effed up than all this time travel theory - watch a (hmmm.....) movie - cube 2 - then read about it's time theories online in forums. makes you want to puke and punch whoever is close enough. then puke on them.
sorry dont have a link.
great episode tonight though, imo.. -
Sorry I'm late, boys! It seems like just yesterday when AICN was at 18000. Boy, does time fly when you're flamin' on movies here or what?!

Honestly, are you trying to tell me anyone involved with this mess has the first fucking clue where they are heading with it?
-
isn't effed up.

"I don't wanna hear your excuses! The building has to be at least... three times bigger than this!" "He's absolutely right..."

well, we've just run into the French crew...and Locke wants to get to the Orchid to move the island again so he can leave it. What does anyone wanna bet this gets the French crews' noses bleeding too...

What, no Jughead theories this week?
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
Could it possibly be because that was a one off deal and not the key to the whole fucking show you god damn morons?

The white light in the sky is a nice bit of misdirection because rather than something new to ponder it's setting up Sawyer getting freaked out by seeing Claire and Kate in the jungle. And then that dovetails nicely with the fact the future scenes are largely about Kate and Aaron, so being reminded that Kate delivered the baby adds to her motivation, and seeing Claire again feeds into the introduction of a new subplot with her mother - which is used as misdirection for wherever they're going with the Ben/Sun plot. And at the end when Ben tells Kate she's not Aaron's mother, well he'd know, because he wasn't Alex's father either. And low and behold suddenly we're shown Danielle arriving on the island. And, it's revealed in the same scenes that Jin isn't dead, so Sun's motivation for scheming to shoot Ben in the cliff hanger is suddenly revealed to be severely compromised. Plus, the whole French expedition plot reintroduces the sickness, just as the time travel nose bleeds are really coming into play - and as Daniel suggests Charlotte and Miles have a longer standing history with the island than they know. Plus they're actually using the structure of the show now to introduce almost noirish elements of mystery to the story telling - a lot of the music cues sound like a Hitchcock homage to me. In the future it's just the web of character motivations gradually unravelling in a suspenseful manner, but on the island, the time jumps means clues can gradually be revealed in a way that makes for a cool narrative where lots happens quickly and seeds are planted ahead of time - rather than just asking a bunch of mysterious questions that never get answered and don't really service the story, which is what the show used to do circa season two - although all that mythology is certainly proving useful now they've started to use it wisely.
-
One thing I noticed the other week was just after Jack asked Ben if Locke was really dead, we almost straight to Hugo's dad watching the show within a show Expose. Expose was the episode that introduced the paralysing spiders of doom...
-
I can understand wanting to protect the Lie, but this whole maternal thing she has with the kid is starting to encroach into psycho territory. As well as the sound glitch, were we supposed to be able to make out Jin's face when they turned him over in the raft? My TV isn't fantastico, but it's not junk either, and I couldn't make out shit, just darkness. Next week: Frobisher is ambulatory!
-
Don't you think that's why they showed us again that Kate was the one who delivered Aaron? And re-enforced the point that Jack is the kid's uncle? Then hit us over the head with the fact Claire had been planning to give the kid up for adoption anyway? I dunno. Even without all that, I think if you raised a child for three years, you'd be fairly maternal. I do wonder if that raised by another crap is ever going to be explained though. The continuity this year has been amazing, but there was so much filler in the second half of season one and all of season two that they've really got their work cut out for them.
-
admittedly I had backflipped on Ben being behind the lawsuit - still doesn't make a helluva lotta sense but hey...
can't wait for the French to start going apeshit! did any of them look at all familiar (apart from Rousseau of course!) to anyone? -

and runs onto the beach. end of story.
-
Shown a few weeks ago, they were filmed from the set of Episode 10. We saw lots of shots of the Others House camp, with darma guys walkinf around, and a few new looking blue VW vans. Sawyer was wearing a Darma jumpsuit and glasses, and welcoming the Oceanic 6, who were all coming out of one of the vans wearing flowers round their necks. Soon they were all wearing Darma jumpsuits. What was that all about?
-
dharma initiative!!!!!!!!!!!
-
that someone was me. nice eye on that Expose cutaway. and like links you brought together from the episode... Claire-Aaron-Kate, Sun-Ben-Jin and Danielle and her kid. kinda like links in a cyclic chain. not sure what it means, maybe not much, but nice to see a cyclic chain like that out there.
-
if Dr Emmett Brown turned up... and solves the island's time traveling by shutting down the malfunctioning flux capacitor as everyone knows it's what makes time travel happen
-
to those compalining that the scene with Jin was too dark you guys need to finally go out and buy a nice HDTV set...I could make him out pretty clearly...that's what happens with 720p resolution
-
thing that still confuses me is if Locke is getting ready to leave the island 3 years in the past to try and get the Oceanic 6 to return to the island then why did it take so long?...the narrative is purposely misleading as it makes it seem like the 2 time periods are in sync when they clearly are not (or are they?)...were they constantly jumping through time for 3 years or is a major piece of the puzzle missing?
-
NO FUCKING MODERN EDITING TOOLS FOR TALKBACKS!!!! Fucking cheap.
-
shiiiiiiiiiit
-
there was some talk about miles being on the island earlier in the TB.
miles is/was the son of the doc from the dharma orientation films.
you see that he has an infant child in either one of the webisodes or in an episode i can't remember. -
the nuke is at the heart of the swan station? whatever caused the "incident" is still unknown. but that nuke has something to do with it.
besides, when faraday was instructing 1954 other-chick to bury the nuke, he asked if they had access to concrete or lead. CONCRETE
that's the fucking swan station. a mess of concrete surrounding some huge electro-magnetic anomaly.
dharma initiative comes to the island, finds the nuke, fucks it up somehow to where it almost explodes every 108 minutes. TA-DA the swan station is born.
i mean, that has to be right. right? -
If you think the show is good in 720P, you should see 1080i. In 1080i, you can see Kate and Juliet naked. Now that's High DeF!
-
sorry but ABC only broadcasts in 720p so you don't get to see it in 1080p no matter how good your TV is...a station only broadcasts in certain resolutions with ABC/Fox in 720p while NBC/CBS go with 1080i...so you can't see LOST in 1080p unless you wait for the Blu Ray versions to be released
-
I'm butting in, but no-one said anything about 1080p.
-
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's just 720p still. Lost season 4 does look awesome in full 1080p though

How could the sickness have anything to do with time travel?
by jor-el23
Why do people think that the French people will be time traveling? Richard and The Others aren't time traveling, nor are the 1950s others, or the people who were shooting arrows at the castaways on the outriggers. Why would the French scientists be an exception and start time traveling? Why wouldn't the Kate and Claire that Sawyer saw in the jungle start time traveling too?
-
when we saw him, at first i thought it was the jin following the season 2 boat explosion. even after he wakes up on the beach, you couldnt see his arms so i thought the camera would pull back to reveal him tied to that piece of wood/tree branch from season 2. because how cool would that have been? when jin came running all tied up and said others, he would have meant young danielle & friends and not the "ben others". i think that would have been fun but alas its "present jin" so there goes that.
-
a lot of stations broadcast in 1080i but there are a few still in 720p, which apparently is better at fast moving sports images hence the reason why ABC/FOX still remain at 720p (they broadcast a lot of sports)
-
Two weeks from yesterday the episode, according to my Comcast cable is called 316. Like a dork I started scouring the bible verses that correspond with that. Other than John 3:16 I didn't find anything that really stood out. But then I saw the Ajira airlines logo so I went to Lostpedia. The Ajira airways logo appeared in that Fray music video for season 5. The website is loaded with a bunch of Easter Eggs including references to a quote on page 316 of James Joyce's Ulysses and John 3:16. Finally there is an option on the website to book flight 316 leaving from Los Angeles and going to Guam...is this the way back?

Why is no one mentioning Locke's awesome man boobs
by chittychittygangbang
They are currently bigger than Kate's and Juliet's sweater puppies.
He has a ways to go if he wants to catch Hurley's DD man tits though. -
I thought it was my system... but the sound was AWFUL!!! I even turned on my 5.1 and I still had to turn up the volume... the treble was awful!!
-
you had to crank up to hear the show, then a commercial would come on and shatter windows.
-
Funny to hear Aaron's birth referred to as two months ago. There is this strange tension between time on the show and tome in real life that is exacerbated by this time travel stuff.
-
Just for the record...I was always partial to the Brody of 75....cuz...you know...sequels suck.
I had no probs with my pic or sound last nite. Perhaps a bit in the scene where Juliet & Sawyer were talking (just before her nose bleed) the audio was a touch low...but I was too busy starin at her cans to care.
You guys havin problems aren't still watchin with rabbit ears and attennas, right? Lemme guess...you are probably posting on this antiquated talkback system on an Apple II Plus from the Swan hatch, too. -
Boy I'm interested in seeing what happened to those two and any other Lostaways. And if Jin made it back, shouldn't those wearing life jackets getting off the freighter be around somewhere too? Or maybe Jin was the only one the Island cared about, thuse ensuring he survived. Hence, the reason we've only ever focused on the current batch of Lostaways out of the original 48 from the very beginning- they're the only one who survive by the end and the only ones the Island makes sure survive.
-
Glad to hear it wasn't my TV. Did anyone also have whitw distortion lines in the upper left hand corner or is that just my shitty DirecTV? My picture is usually pristine but with this show something always seems to happen with the picture or sound. WTF? Is it a traffic issue?
-
If Sun has to return, what's gonna happen with her baby? I doubt she has enough time to go to back to Asia and then return back with it just to bring it for her and Jin to raise. Odd.
-
First off I freaking loved this episode. I love Kate and Jack together again. And Sawyer seeing Kate deliver Aaron in the jungle was a really great moment. I had forgotten that Kate delivered him so I thought it showed really well why she has become attached to Aaron so much off the island. And I didn't realize just how much I missed Jin until he showed up.
But I am rackign my brain about who the hell was in the Ajira canoe behind them. I like the theories that it might have been themselves but didn't Juliet blow one of them away? That would suck. -
I had sound turned up to hear the characters speak, then local rabid car salesman came on for commercial and BAM!
My once-fluffy cat looked like Mr. Bigglesworth as his hair flew off and I had to dislodge him from the ceiling with a swift thrust of the broom. -
Rose: Bernie...I don't think anyone is gonna come save us.
Bernard: Your probably right, dear. (Pulls smoldering arrow out of his chest).
Rose: You've lost a lot of blood..I wish jack was here to fix you up. (Pulls out a set black and white stones.)
Bernard: I...I feel so tired...I think I'm gonna...lay....down.
Rose: Here, Bernard...I want you to hold this white stone...for good luck.
Bernard: Ok, honey...I'm just gonna take...a quick....nap. I love you, Rose.
Rose: I love you, too. Let's get some rest.
Rose & Bernard proceed to die together in their sleep in a cave...the year is 1988.

Widmore folk.
1. There's no way they would be shooting at THEMSELVES!
2. There's no way Jack and the rest of the 0-6 would have a "shoot first, ask questions later" approach...when the whole point of coming back was to SAVE their friends...not randomly shoot at people before they know who they are shooting at.
3. The people in the back canoe were really bad shots...or excellent marksmen. I think it could be argued they were purposely NOT shooting at the people, but trying to disable the outrigger. Shooting at their paddles and at the outrigger itself...as if they wanted to take them "alive". Or...the peeps chasing them were just horrible shots. Either way...I don't think the 0-6 would shoot at ANYONE, with out knowing for sure who they were shooting at.
BTW...it wasn't an Ajira canoe...it was an Ajira water bottle. Not necessarily connected with each other. But it did appear that Juliet DID pop a cap in one of them...interesting to see who that may have been. -
He'll probably make it back to the island on the same path the 0-6 will forge.
-
"One thing I noticed the other week was just after Jack asked Ben if Locke was really dead, we almost straight to Hugo's dad watching the show within a show Expose. Expose was the episode that introduced the paralysing spiders of doom..."
Awesome catch there! Ive had that spider theory since we first saw him dead. That pretty much confirms it, Id say. -
Give me a little credit Cheif. I just said that as a point of reference. I agree with you though that it's more likely people connected to Widmore, but why in the hell would they be in outrigger canoes? This seaso nis rocking.
By the way, Sawyer seeing the beach camp and immediately heading for the beer? GOLD. This man is my soulmate. -
Trust me, they built Temple over the bomb. And Daniel and Desmond are brothers, or Daniel and Sawyer are, not sure how but it will happen.
-
Because they're skipping through time, he could leave the island at any moment and it could be 3 years from then. Just because it's only been a day on the island -- due to the fact that the island keeps skipping -- it may be 3 years later off the island.
-
Have you guys seen some of the easter eggs for this episode? That van said Canton-Rainier on it? Anagram for "reincarnation."
-
Yep, I also started to wonder if my surround system was on the wrong setting. It seemed like the dialog was drowned by the other channels. Glad it wasn't just me!
-
Dude...just checkin...you wouldn't believe the insane theories people had about 100 posts up ^^^. Like...the 0-6 travelled back on a Ajira jet...which like it's predecessor 815, crashed near the island...and somehow they used Ajira outriggers to get to shore!
I LOVED how Locke changed direction when it looked as tho his path was gonna lead him and the group past is former self from 2 months ago. He knew if they tried to trek past him, "2 months ago Locke" would have detected them and tracked them...and Locke didn't want to answer ANY questions he might have asked himself. It's almost as if Locke KNOWS...how the past played out...was exactly what was suppose to be happening.
He could warned himself about the Lockdown...the island map on the back of the blast door...that the dude henry gale is really an other and their barracks are on the other side of the island...and NOT to destroy the computer he will find in the hatch...and there will be a crazy Scottish dude in there with a gun...and that he'll need to watch the Orientation film twice.
Nah...Locke knows....He knows better than to try and change anything. I love that he instilled that same sentiment into Sawyer, too.
That was my biggest fear about time travel & LOST...that everyone would be trying to "fix" or "change" past events. So glad they are steering clear of all that nonsense. -
The fact that the number 316 is all over the Ajira website, the fact that you could at one time go to the website and book flight 316 from LA to Guam and the fact that in two weeks there's an episode called "316" that deals with the O6 learning how they can get back to the island. I'm not really good at finding easter eggs and some of these deeper clues, I don't think I've ever once come up with a theory that wasn't completely obvious but this one seems pretty obvious to me.
-
So I was trying to figure out if for that scene they just took old footage and edited into the new stuff or if they got Emilie & Evangeline back to reshoot it from another angle. Im assuming that they just edited old footage. Anyone notice if the shoots were from the same angle?

KVUE 24 OTA in Austin is broadcast 1080i. KSAT 12 OTA in San Antonio is broadcast in 720p. I live in San Marcos, right smack dab in the middle, so I get both on my antenna. The KVUE picture is noticeably sharper and clearer than the 720p image, which actually looks surprisingly bad. Unfortunately, the KSAT signal is stronger than the KVUE signal, which tends to pop in and out, so I usually end up watching it on KSAT.
That said, you could clearly see Jin's face on the raft in the ocean in 720p. -
with all the travelling through the jungle and time shifting, you'd think someone would run into it or least run into a past version of itself.
-
on the ajira canoes:
i think that particular flash was actually in the future, post-island moving.
i say that because all we saw was them coming to the losties camp, then taking off in the outrigger canoes, then having a battle with another outrigger.
then...flash
that was a modern losty camp, yet no losties were there. also, we know it couldn't have been from before.
i think it is a group of airline survivors that have yet to crash on island.
i was mystified about this as well. it was the only thing in this episode that i didn't know what was going on. your theory?
also, i think the nuke becomes the heart of the swan station. it has to, right? -
jin's son
-
...in the aired episode last night. Were you looking at your screener (which must have been changed) or just a release?
-
Wow, Cheif, you post several lenghty essays and yet you still give a "Meh" because they don't have the entire Oceanic 6 plus back together in one place and ready to go? After only four episodes? How fast do you expect things to move?A old school vinyl record is played with a "needle", not a "pinhead". In the future record needles will be replaced by laser beams and pinheads will be replaced by robots.I'm pretty sure the person who asked about JIn's stuffed animal shopping was joking - how could anyone have watched that episode and not got it? So when are we going to find out where Jin's first teddy bear went in that taxi?It makes sense that Jin would be timetraveling to the same times as everyone else - and be simpler - but could Rousseau have really aged that much in less than twenty years? Even living alone in the wild? From being that cute to that weather-beaten?The island skipping through time like a sytone on a pond metaphor doesn't work because a stone would move in a straight line, not bounce back and forth.Chittybang- I mentioned Locke's manboobs years ago in one of these talkbacks. They're great, aren't they? Nicer than Hurley's.I have a quarter century old RCA with a fuzzy picture and a basic cable arrangement with Comcast, and the episode looked and sounded fine to me. Some times it's just dark, you know?I like the Locke/coma spider theory. Not saying I believe it, but I like it.

Most folks think Miles is Marvin Candlewickwaxman's son. Jin has a daughter.

Well when Jin saw her she was younger and had extra weight from her pregnancy. 20 years is actually a long time if your trying to survive on an island. She had the sun beating down on her which can really do a number on your skin. Plus a lot of stress from the deaths of her crew, Alex being kidnapped and trying to advoid the Others. Just compare before & after photos of any President and you'll see how much stress can age you. She probably didn't have a suitcase of grooming stuff like the 815 castaways had to keep up her looks. Plus going crazy doesn't exactly give someone the desire to groom. Along with all of the weight lost from trying to survive.

while other things in the radius of time travel don't? I don't get how things like the Others' tents stay put in time, while other items like the Outrigger Canoe can travel with our peeps.
-
I used to like it better but it got worse.
-
"Right" or not, "lazy" or not, "sensical" or not... It would appear that items on the time-skipping Losties go with them. The compass, the bullet in Locke's leg, the ropes that bound Charlotte's and Mile's hands, the canoe. We may simply have to deal with this as a "just what happens" thing. The zodiac (and possibly the debris Jin was floating on) was part of the first skip and seems to keep up, although didn't they pop into a time where there would be Oceanic folk on the beach who might see a raft appear? Possible "oops". It also seems that the time skipping is limited to "new arrivals" plus Juliette (and theier stuff) OR people not "tied to the island" (note: Juliette "quit" the Others) plus Locke. This may very well be explained. I hope so.
-
It was already explained i nthe first two episodes that whatever you're touching/wearing travels with you. Hence the compass Alpert gives Locke, the bullet in Locke's leg, the canoes they are traveling on.
-
when the island first jumped...I don't like that aspect of continuity or whatever you want to call it.
-
Why only certain people are jumping. When you think about what these people have in common, it doesn't make much sense. Hopefully there is a good explanation for it.

how (according to the previews next week) Ben can "prove" Jin is alive? That ought to be interesting. I mean how does he even know he is alive, unless John finds out and tells him? But even then what proof can he provide?
-
My only guess.
-
has to have something to do with John
-
He probably will have proof of some kind, but would any of us put it past Ben to lie and/or fake something just to speed things up, only to be proven right by happenstance?

For a few minutes, I thought Locke was behind the lawyer
by dapper swindler
He said something earlier in the episode about what he would tell Kate to get her to come back to the island. I figured he visited Claire's mom as Jeremy Bentham and proved that Aaron was Claire's daughter. This was to prompt her to seek out Aaron so that Kate would flee and be easily persuaded to return to the island. Especially when you look at what the lawyer said to Kate. He's almost daring her to run away with Aaron.
So it turns out it was Ben. But I think Ben did it for the same reason. He's trying to give Kate a reason to return to the island. But I guess he saw no reason to continue on with that plan. -
I'm thinking it's more the second. I don't think he has physical proof that he can show her. I think he's going to try to convince her to go back to the island for his proof. Not a lie exactly, but yeah, he's just trying to speed things along.
-
My guess is that where they popped into wasn't the past (an empty camp?) but the future (3 years later) when the oceanic 6 arrive on the island via that indian airliner. Sayid probably saw **someone** steal his boat and started taking shots.
-
Anybody read Vozzek's writeup for this episode? He has an intriguing theory that Ajira is basically a course corrected Oceanic. What we see in that scene is not our 815er beach camp but a 316er beach camp made up of new band of survivors put in place to serve the island's endgame, and it was these 316ers who were chasing the 815ers thinking they were Others. I don't know how likely it is but that is a pretty badass prospect.
-
It sounded like Mira Furlan's voice to me , I wonder if they did a benjamine button and had her voice her younger characters counter part, it really sounded like her especially when she told Jin her name.
-
I get ya. I was thinking more of the zodiac that Daniel and Neil arrived back in. They park it at the Lostie camp and the episode states that the zodia skips in time, too, with or without people. I may need to go back and rewatch, but IF they skipped to a time when there were Losties still on the beach, the zodiac would have appeared there suddenly and then disappeared again. But they may not have skipped to such a time, so no harm no foul.
-
She was all cute like Jewel Staite from FIREFLY and stuff before living on the island drove her nuts.
-
and according to the ep summary it's about the O6 learning how they'll get back to the island. It's clear to me that they're going to be on Ajira Airways flight 316
-
whatever's with them physically skips with them. Sawyer didn't have Forgurt's shirt during the original skip, but once he put it on it still skips with him. That's why the outrigger went with them when the flash happened.
-
Ok, this is from last weeks episode. But why the hell didn't desmond ask for a phone number so he could deliver his message? Stupid plot devices...
Another thing I'm wondering about is the others from "present" day, and if they are jumping through time as well?
Also, Richard seems to know when and where they will end up. How else did he know John was shot by ethan and where and when to find him? And there is the whole line "Next time you see me, I won't know who you are." How did he know the next time leap would be to the past and john would show up?
And if ben is the most manipulative SOB on the planet, imagine what his lawyer is like... No wonder the music cued up like that.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Jin interacts with the frenchies, and seeing how Ben proves he is alive. I'm also wondering how the heck the island people will live 3 years for when the 0-6 return. I'm thinking that they don't. -
...what a kick ass job the show creators and writers have done. Jin, who I still believed was alive after last season, was the last person on my mind when I saw a guy floating in the ocean. That move wasn't telegraphed to me at all and was truly a great surprise. In lesser hands, we would have known what to expect at that moment. What a great episode. The series feels like it's hit a fever pitch and landing shots left and right racing to it's conclusion. Incredible.
-
The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham. Not 316. Apparently the 6th episode is supposed to be HUGE and will run for an extra 6 minutes that night.
-
My guess is EVENTUALLY John and Richard will be able to have a sufficiently lengthly talk (probably around the time John leaves the island, maybe not) for Alpert to be more knowledgable and take care of John's bullet, etc. This reminds me of John's injury. Every Locke episode after "Walkabout" we kept waiting for THE accident that put him in the chair.
-
The Bentham episode is the 7th episode.
-
I hit submit too soon. We know that the conversation will happen, just not at what point.
-
my guess. the islanders flash to a point in the past, a photo of jin or a video is taken, which ben has always known about. this would presuppose that ben has always known this was going to happen though. which would go with his character.

...camp. I'm pretty sure Jin is going to be reunited with everyone soon and it's plausible that before Locke turns the wheel (I'm guessing that's how he gets off the island), Jin gives him something that will make Sun know he's alive and okay. Maybe it's a picture of Jin or something or his ring? Whatever it is it's going to convince Sun he's back there and make her want to return. Although I think she's going to be a double agent all season and can see her making a deal with Whidmore to lead him back to the island with them as long as he lets Jin leave with her. That might explain why she doesn't bring her baby back since her intention is only to go back and get her husband off the island.

In that last spot, in the rapid montage she is kissing someone. I can't tell who it is - could be Sawyer or Jakc. Was that a deleted scene from the episode, because I didn't see her kiss anyone.
-
The reason Richard could tell Locke "The next time you see me, I won't know who you are," is because the next time John saw Richard was in the past. Richard just remembers John coming into camp in 1954, giving him the compass & telling the story. That's why Richard was at the hospital to see John shortly after he was born, and came to his house to test him when he was a child.

I think that's why they gave the episode to BKV
by billypilgrimisunstuck
He wrote a whole series that is very similar to the structure of how LOST is. Fans hooked into the mythology but stay for the cathartic resonance of the relationships built. He does a very good job at taking breaks when necessary to remind the fans what we're emotionally invested in.
-
Whoa. They totally reversed the episodes. I wonder why. I went to darkufo and they confirmed they switched the airdates (Episode Title: 5.06 - 316
Air Date: 18th February 2009 (Note: This was originally intended to be 5.07). My mistake! -
Other than "42 Panorama Crest" there was iterations of the numbers, I remember seeing "23", I think Sayid hospital room was stg like 1-23 and 23 was in jack phone's number.
And yeah, most of the french cast didn't sound really french. French from Quebec at best. Is it so hard to find real french actors in Hollywood? -
I know how it went down. But how did richard know that the next time he saw John it was going to be in the past? John could have jumped to the future like we saw in last night's episode and met him there, but he didn't. Richard knew he was going in the past next and that he needed the watch then.
And if he knew that, then I think he is time traveling, and not immortal. -
It was more like french from New brunswick.
-
Yeah.....it all kinda makes sense now....it's startin to come together....why do I keep seeing flashbacks to Fonzy jumping the shark?
-
By the time John is able to lay it all out for him, John knows when he went. My question is: what frame of refernce did John have as to when Richard would be able to find him and take out the bullet? After the plane falls and at night?
-
Oh, and because Richard would remember the meeting in the 50's, to help put it in perspective.
-
Yes, but Richard has the benefit of 50 years to put all his "Locke sightings" in correct order. That's it! I'm out!
-
Except without the uber ... I mean really - "they're making it up as the go along" went out the window as chum around season 3.
-
How about Richard is somehow a physical manifestation of the island. It's something like that, I'm sure. I had an epiphany.
-
So, if she heads to the Island eventually with the O-6, what's she gonna do, leave it behind? I know she ain't gonna have time to head back to Asia for that kid.
-
Yes. That or the person that island has made it’s spokesman… a “Metatron”, as it were. Either way, it kind of amounts to the same thing.
-
..of pop culture, they usually rebel by saying it sucks. Feels like high school again.

of Godiva chocolates. Who is Sun going after? Jack or Ben?

sure that bentham visited sun since the oceanic6 have been back home? it seems to me that she still thinks jin is dead. isnt she plotting to kill ben because she blames him for jins death? maybe im on the wrong track here because i read an earlier post on here talking about locke assuring sun that jin is alive.
-
i watched the first ten minutes or so of lifeonmars but i ended up falling asleep early. i like the show as far as what i saw. i will watch it next week for sure. if you are bored and have a few spare minutes, would you mind catching me up with a synopsis? maybe you can post a brief summary on here for me if you have time. so the main character traveled back in time? i didnt realize that there was a supernatural element to the show.
-
i was just pulling your chain about the spoiler post. i hate spoilers but i cant fault anyone for posting them on here. i mean who are we kidding here, this is aicn after all. spoilers abound. i am probably going to avoid the new talkback on wednesdays from now on until after i see the ep.

* Why did the island make Eko help Locke find his faith again by making him find the Pearl Station. Which only made Locke completely lose his faith.
* Did Ben push the button or not. If he did push the button, why did he tell Locke that he did not? If he didn't push the button, how come it didn't explode?
* Of course, we still don't know the whole point of the swan station or the button pushing.
* When the swan station blew up, why was no one hurt?
* When the swan station blew up, why was Desmond naked but no one else was?
These are the questions that need answers because they are the ones that make me think there aren't answers to them. I need my faith renewed. -

yeah most of the Aussies don't sound Australian either
by the power of greyskull
hey Hawaiian actors gotta eat!
ok firstly, I never had a problem with the canoe, my problem was with the ZODIAC - if that has been jumping with them every time, did it mysteriously turn up on the beach every now and then - like when Claire was giving birth, for example?
also about Ben's proof - Ben can prove Jin's alive because Jin NOW WORKS FOR BEN - how else do you think Ben was able to steal Rousseau's baby? mark my words
I also love the spider theory - that cut to Expose' totally supports your theory because they LOVE doing that kind of thing on this show - like when we cut to Daniel's mother before it was revealed that's who she is, but the implication was clear enough... -
have you seen the original (UK) version? coz from what I've seen of the US version so far, it's pretty much a carbon copy - which is fine, because it's a great show but sometimes they say things or behave like they would if they were British, and it doesn't quite gel with them being in New York and all...
I heard the US writers were given the all-clear to change it up from the UK version but, like I said, so far it's almost exactly the same... -
... are nowhere near carbon copies. The US version and the UK version bear some similarities along the way but there are huge differences too.
BTW who wants to take bets that the boat behind our beloved adventurers exchanging gunshots are themselves after travelling through time? -

they are now having present characters jump in time...BRILLIANT!!!!!....not nothing happened in last nites epi, except we now know that jin is still alive, and ben is still an ahole, even though he doesnt have to be
-
... if we were to find out that Danielle is *not* pregnant with a girl (Alex), but with a boy? Perhaps Alex has an older brother who is somehow part of this story? I know that's a little "out there," but would it necessarily contradict anything Russo has said to-date? Also... I stand by the idea that Alpert is taking occassional sojourns to a place where time passes significantly slower than on Earth. By having such sporadic absences, he's able to seem as if he hasn't aged in +50 years when--- in reality--- his body has just aged about 2 or 3 years.
-
... fellow poster, your comment on Ben is, indeed, priceless. It actually should be the character's catchphrase. Of course, I'm still in the camp that believes Jack is running his own scam/con. There are those among us who may dismiss "book smarts," but anyone real person with the Jack character's educational accomplishments would have the ability to plot and scheme like no other. All they'd need is the inclination, which we know he's had for some time now.

I don't usually post in the Lost talkback, but I was wondering about the whispers. Is it possible that the whispers, or at least some of the words spoken, are the castaways talking as they view themselves through time? Or perhaps Christian and Jacob exist on the exact same island but from unstuck dimensional type of situation? Where a spirit and a living human being can exist on an equal level? Jusst wanted to throw it out there for people.
-
I take it back - you're pretty funny.
-
Check out the lostpedia for transcripts of most or maybe even all of the whispers. Some of the whispers seem to come from lesser known characters, like the guy Sawyer killed in Australia
-
you may be dead on about the whispers. thats a damn good possibility. come to think of it, i wonder how many seemingly inexplicable mysteries on the island can be attributed to the time skips? thanks for bringing that to my attention.
-
i noticed that the observer has a smacker on his cheek now. was that on there before? he gets around doesnt he?
-
The episode is called "This Place is Death" and we know that Russo killed all of her crew because they got "sick" (a misdirect from seeing the time-traveling losties nosebleeds), her kid gets babynapped by Ben (is he still a DHARMA Janitor at this point or has the purge happened), and she knows shit about the monster (she called it a "security system"). So, yeah, looking forward to a wacky episode.
-
You are too! I watch LOST and I think it's miles better than 99% of TV Dramas. Its kinda like TWIN PEAKS with all the twists and sense of dread. I just hope it all ties together, as we veiwers have put our trust in it and I dont want to be burned again ala TWIN PEAKS. Anyways, whatever the end game, the ride has been worth it. Peace.

I have never seen the British original - some say it's better, others just say it's different.Sam Tyler is a present day NYC cop. He gets out of his car and is struck by another vehicle (as seen in the opening credits every week) and wakes up in a version of 1973 in which somehow he was expected as the new member of the precinct. He still has instincts to want his cell phone or ask for DNA tests. And he is shocked by the politically incorrect racist sexist homophobic attitudes of some of his coworkers. When he first arrived he tried to explain he was from the future - they dismissed it and gave him the "Spaceman" nickname. the female cop - Gretchen Mol's character, sometimes referred to as "No Balls" - is the one person he has continued to try to explain his situation to and she seems to be either willing to believe or just willing to listen.SPOILER: the British series has ended. He was in the present day in a coma on the verge of death the whole time. Why I would tell you that: Because the writers of the Amercanized version have stated that they will end this version of the series differently. why that's interesting: because so much of what has happened makes perfect sense in support of that ending, and because IF you believe they plan to do something different, then the skies the limit in terms of what that something different might be. Maybe it IS really time travel. maybe he is being manipulated. Last nights episode hinted that the Russians - or a Russian - were involved in some way.I've seen every episode and really couldn't tell you where they're going. I've read the Wikipedia listings for both the Brit and American versions of the show but I'm not an expert on the series or anything - it's just a show I happen to enjoy enough that I make a point not to miss it.Someone earlier mentioned that the Heroes Journeyman double feature was too much time travel for one night. I think Lost fans might like Life On Mars if they give it a try, assuming that Lost doesn't leave them too mind-boggled to watch another trippy show. As I mentioned, although the ongoing mystery of Sam Tyler's existence in 1973 remains unexplained, the week to week police procedural episodes are fairly well self- contained. Where Joan Of Arcadia was a religious/supernatural/fantasy show with a bit of cop show thrown in (Her day), Life on Mars is largely a cop show - with enough Science-fiction thrown in that it's different than anything else in the overcrowded cop show landscape. And as I mentioned, it helps if you like '70s cop movies, '70s music and, you know, actually remember 1973. though that might not be essentialI read somewhere that a new series someone is working on features a cop whose super-genius 12 year old brother helps him solve crimes. Sounds almost like a parody of NUMB3RS to me...

Twin Peaks was intended to be about a weird town with an unsolved/unsolvable mystery. but just like Who Shot JR or Save the Cheerleader, "Who Killed Laura Palmer" because the shows ubiquitous tag line to the extent that the network assumed that people wanted/expected an answer to that question. Actually, resolving that central mystery was like pulling one leg off a table. After that we got log lacy weirdness and a middle aged amnesiac who thought she was a teenager and developed superpowers, and the Miss Twin Peaks contest, and lots of other fascinating weirdness.I enjoyed Twin Peaks all the way to the end, though the first season was better, it's true. The writers knew what they were doing with Twin Peaks until the network told them to resolved the Laura Palmer mystery and messed them up. I think we're safe from that happening with Lost now that they have a certain number of episodes to work with and an exact end date. Now if the Network just screwed around, never telling the producers of Lost when or if the show would end, then they'd have to start making weird stuff up, constantly being ready to either end the show at the end of each season or keep going indefinitely. but fortunately, the end date eliminates that threat.

that shit is fucked up!
I wonder what proof Ben has?
so I guess we're all waiting for Hurley now... well... wouldn't be the first time... -
before Montaund loses his arm? =D I am SO FREAKING THRILLED that we will get to see all of Rousseau and her crew's wacky adventures in REAL TIME through the eyes of Jin. Remember, Robert has the key... Key to what? The failsafe? Is Robert Radzinsky? (Ok, maybe that's going too far. Or not far ENOUGH!)
-
You took the wrestling geek hit for me. I didn't want to be the first to make the obvious Stone Cold joke. Of course, you and I could be the only ones who would GET a Stone Cold joke...
-
I remember a bit from either a podcast or an episode commentary that they omitted a line from S1 Episode 9, "Solitary", that the crew she was a part of was researching TIME. No idea of the specifics, but if they are all quantum scientists I'm going to bet Faraday wishes he spoke French. Where is that whiny bitch Shannon when you need her? Haha, "Explaining this to a quantum physicist would be difficult." t speak your language!

The Little Prince is a great study in Love, Revenge, Manipulation & Pain. All of the characters are motivated by one or more of these emotions.
Looking at love Kate is very torn between the love that she has developed for Aaron while acting as his parent and her feeling for Jack. She’s developed the bond to Claire through helping her during birth and then protecting her & Aaron from baby baptizing Charlie and a load of other times. There had to have been a bond developing during the time off island. And she shows it while trying to protect him from Ben’s Lawyers.
Her feelings for Jack were reemphasized further by the boat flashback where she told him that she was always with him. Plus the fact that she trusted him to visit with Claire’s Mother and figure out her motives. Now the real problem is shaping out to be her having to ether trust Jack enough to follow Ben back to the island or to protect Aaron from Ben.
That’s where the manipulation comes in. It appears that Ben is still up to the manipulation game regardless of his motives. He reveals that he was the one to sick the Lawyers on Kate for a blood test and free Hurley from the slammer. And it hasn’t been revealed yet, but possibly the hitman after Sayid knowing that he would be able to defend himself. Everything is a means to his ends.
That is one of the reasons why Sun wants revenge on him. She thinks that Ben was the cause of Jin’s death and thus is gunning for him. This actually helps Ben because it brings another member of the OC 6 to him to complete his goal. That is also something that she has in common with Desmond & Penny with Des also heading for LA & Faradays Mother. But also into Ben who wants to kill her out of revenge for Widmore because of the pain that he caused Ben by killing Alex.
Which I loved the moment that Locke & Sawyer had when Locke was telling him about pounding on the Hatch and about how he didn’t want to warn his previous self about the bad things and pain that had happened because it helped him to be who he was. Speaking of pain while it was awesome seeing Danielle as a young scientist I kept thinking of all of the pain that she was about to go through. I really hope that Darlton devotes a good episode to her story rather then 10 minutes before another time jump. I also was glad to see Jin alive again, although who knows it’s still not totally clear whether or not Claire is really dead or alive.
My favorite scene in the episode though had to have been Sawyer watching Claire give birth and realizing once again his love for Kate. I got choked up by that scene. Its great how the show is starting to connect the present with the past and not only explain mysteries but also to reminisce. -
Napoleonic Park (good name btw), when I was talking about Jin on the boat, I meant the freighter. And there is no indication that he jumped off the freighter, and you say the freighter was deserted before it blew, but watch the scene again, the deck is full of other people scrambing to get life-jackets on. Which is why I ask, if Jin was caught in the radius, wouldn't the rest of the people as well? Perhaps it's an act of the island, much like Michael and how it would not allow him to die before he completed a task, but the island had no need for the rest of the people so let them die.
Chief Brody, i agree with your point that it's a little weird that the others that were with Locke wouldn't also be jumping as well. However, Claire, Kate and Aaron wouldn't be jumping after Sawyer sees them because they aren't caught in this time-jump loop. They weren't there for the initial jump.
Mistergreen, you stated above that Aaron is the only thing that's been born on the island. Not true, Alex was born from Danielle 16 years before. Btw, I hope they find a way to bring that character back, because the girl who played her was damn hot, with Maggie Grace, Michelle Rodriguez gone this show could use some more eye candy. We're only hanging on with Kate and Claire, and Claire's not even around this season.

This is a theory I came up with to explain Richard and his role on the island. There is absolutely no proof or evidence of this, but it is a logical guess.
I think Richard is some sort of offspring of Jacob, and because he's born of this supreme being (Jacob) he has this immortal life. He's been with the island since it was first formed and Jacob ruled over it, upon Jacob's death he kept Richard alive (and has been ever since) in order to make sure his vision and goal will be achieved. So Richard's job is really to find and usher in the next leader in a line of leaders for the people of the island.
He doesn't become the direct leader himself because his role lies in more direct contact with Jacob, and it's with Jacob that his destiny is tied to, not with the people who populate the island. However, he needs to ensure these people survive for some other reason that will be revealed through the show.
Not really sure how much sense this makes, because it's late and I'm tired. But just some food for thought. -
Clearly something is wrong about that whole thing. Why does Sun only have a baby photo of her, when she would be 2 years old now?I'm thinking the baby is dead...
-
...I'm not a "shipper." I just noticed in the trailer a scene that wasn't aired and wondered why.
-
Lest we forget that Sun talked to her baby on the phone before meeting Widmore? Perhaps the fact that she only has a babypicture of her indicates that she's not around to raise the child, that the grandmother is basically raising her alone. In her blind quest for revenge, she's ignoring the thing that matters most now.

RE: Season 2 forgotten "answers" wise? I'm not sure about that
by burgerking
Yeah, I think Season 2 is going to get it's answers. The four-toed statue will undoubtably be visited, likely connected to The Temple and that DHARMA food drop we saw is probably the most brilliant and (looking back) obvious hints towards a time travel plotline. Going to be awesome to rewatch the old seasons after this one.
-
slightly off, overall but at least you guys are thinking slightly rationally, not just making shit up.
here are my idea's:
Alpert is either someone who has existed on the island for a very long time (perhaps he has four toes), or he's the "avatar" of the island itself... i haven't decided for lack of proof. Assuming the latter theory is true I ask myself if a "spirit of the island" could travel to meet locke as a young boy, it could be a vision but it seems like kind of a stretch for a spirit to travel off the island.
---
I believe Jin jumped from deck while chasing the helicopter, he was very close to the end of the ship, and had he jumped could have possibly survived, the redshirts on deck in their pretty life-jackets would have been assploded... which also means micheal is finally dead (thank god)
---
The whispers are explained by our losties and possibly *others* jumping in time, it appears alot has happened on our little island over the many repeating years... going back to season 2 and 3, perhaps cerberus clears up problems in the temporal state of the island? (i know a bit of a leap), especially given that ben can control Ol'Smokey.
---
The "sickness* may actually be because of Rousseau, being pregnant on the island has shown to not be a good thing, maybe she goes berzerk, or kills her crew (as someone above said), or delivers and the others come to take alex and most of her crew dies... who knows.
anyways those are my thoughts, can't wait for next wednesday. WOOO!!!
*JUNGLE TRUMPET* -
Ok...Some notes on the last 153 posts.
Again...Sorry, lucid. I would hope that everyone would feel safe racing to this talkback when it (eventually) appears every Wednesday. That was a spoiler that has been boiling in my brain for weeks now...and it shot outta my fingers before I could stop it. Herc cracked the spoiler door open with his synopsis...and I kicked it in. My bad. I'll try to control myself in the future...but I still have a couple juicy ones rolling around in my head, darn it!
Uberman...consider me an expert on sharks (Dharma sharks to be specific)...and there's little chance IMO that LOST will jumping over any with The Fonz. As for Twin Peaks...The network killed that show...by tinkering with it. ABC has meddled with LOST, too...but in the exact OPPOSITE way...by letting Darlton & company tell their story at the pace they felt they needed...and without the pressure of having to tell it over an ungodly 9 or 10 seasons. By setting an end date, ABC put the story and the fans of LOST first. Sure...they'd LOVE to run the show into the ground...by making Darlton stall their story...and pad and fill the show until we all gave up on it ever moving forward...and it getting cancelled before it was able to wrap up all its loose ends....meanwhile charging advertisers out the wahzoo for a few additional seasons. Thank Jacob ABC bit the bullet (a first for a broadcast network - aside from the BBC) and let the storytellers decide WHEN the show leaves the air...not the sagging ratings.
Pa...nice recap and thoughts on the episode, as always. You get the feeling 'ol Sawyer was actually thinkin about 'settlin down' and 'poppin out a few rugrats' when he was watching Kate take baby Aaron into her arms. He realized he let a good thing slip through his fingers...and also that he may never get a chance to see her again to let her know how he really feels about her. Too bad Kate's left our favorite con man all alone with Juliet...who may as well have been wearing a "I Like Sloppy Seconds" T-Shirt while gawking at James by the outrigger. between Goodwin, Jack...and now Sawyer...Juliet's becoming quite the island homewrecker! (Must...stop...the...spoilers....). Ok...moving on....
Richard knowing the next time Locke saw him, that he wouldn't recognize him. perhaps this has been spelt out for everyone...so, forgive me if I'm kicking Kate's horse...Alpert found Locke with Ethan's bullet in his leg. Ethan shot John cuz...HE didn't recognize him...cuz he hadn't MET him yet. But Alpert knows the first time he met John...He had a bullet in his leg and removed it in 1954...in the exact same spot where the wound on John's leg was. So, it was the wound that clued him in on Locke's next jump...not by some cosmic understanding of how the time shifts work. Sorry if that was just a rehash that we've already all grasped.
Ben's proof that Jin's alive...He's got nothing, kids. C'mon...Ben lies for a living. Ok...he might have something, but it's not something Jin gave to Locke to give to Ben...surely Jin wouldn't EXPECT Sun to even NEED proof to return to the island to save him...Ben DOES have proof...but it's a lie. He will give Sun the gold Rolex watch Michael pawned to buy the gun he couldn't kill himself with. The inscription: "Congratulations ... mutual cooperation ... business development ... Mr. Paik" will convince her that Ben got it from Jin. But he actually retreived it from Gus's Pawn Shop...where he also set up the gun that wouldn't fire. Did I mention Ben is a genius?
Ok...that's all I got for now...Gotta get some sleep. Glad to see a LOST talkback hoppin again! GO TEAM VINCENT!
-
The reason for that episode flip-flop?
It's a lil thing they like to call "MAY SWEEPS"...The put the weaker episode in February...and saved the HUGE REVEAL one to fall inside the crucial May Sweeps period.
I said ABC was very generous...Not stupid! Cuz...If a huge episode of LOST falls outside a ratings period...does it make any $$$ for ABC?
No...it does not. -
"FEBRUARY SWEEP"!! Sorry..I've been up for 22 hours...Nite all!
-
Biitchessss!!!!!
-
just 400th... in the thread
but whatever. Ok, going back to pushing the button now.
-
...and Locke has figured that out.
-
Darlton has stated in a podcast that Richard is like the Dali Paca (or however you say it) The Dali Paca's job is to find a new Dali Lama everytime that one dies. Richard's job as someone touched on above is to find a new leader for the island everytime that something happens to the old one.
Thanks for your kind comments. I thought that I would try something different with my episode thoughts after last weeks incident. -
I remember all the pictures comparing the two when we first got that shadowy glimpse of Jacob in the cabin. I like to think that Jacob is something ancient...
-
Unfortunately, even after 2 viewings, I have little of substance to add. I think you've pretty much covered it.
I did think Kate in the suit Sun loaned her was the best looking I'd seen her off the island, and I'm not that big a fan of her looks. Too skinny.
I must go back and watch Aaron's delivery again to see if it was the same or additional footage.
As stated above, there were a lot of references to the numbers, including meeting at slip 23 where the boat was docked.
My first post in this thread was disagreeing with Herc's assessment that since Claire's mom was a guest that she was probably the one that hired the lawyer. I'm glad that proved to be the case.
I was one of those that thought the lawyer was hired by Sun or Widdmore, so I stand corrected on that. I will try to remember to take Sayid's advise from now on and never trust Ben...although I'm not sure trusting him is where I landed so much as not trusting others either.
I tend to agree that Ben's lying about Jin rather than believing he has actuall proof of Jin being alive. And I was surprised at the big Jin reveal.
I came on here yesterday and was anti trolls and idiots. Today I read good stuff from a lot of people that have good heads on their shoulders. I like y'all.
I can't remember anything else right now, and have to go to a meeting. So later. -
Just because he's 3 years removed from the island, seemingly a little under 3 years since Jin washed up on shore. It seems like he's going to be reunited with his fellow castaways very soon since the next time jump will mean no more French researchers. The fact that Locke is going back to the real world and will probably see Ben tells me that there will be some sort of proof.
-
I also forgot to add this fact...the audience knows Jin is alive, so what would be the point in the sort of misdirection that comes from Ben lying to Sun? If we didn't know then it's a much more intriguing mystery for the viewers.
-
Never believe anything Ben tells you
-
Was it a field trip because they're all pretty young to be scientists? I mean rousseau herself is 16 and apparently knocked up. Doesn't sound like much research was happening.
-
Doesn't it better help his cause to let her think someone is still after Aaron? Though the tranqdart goons are trying to kill her as well but why would Ben choose that moment to actually tell the truth for once?
-
I couldn't find any reference to what they were researching on Lostpedia but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough
-
It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out because Rousseau's backstory--meaning from the time they crash, get "sick", Montand going armless, R killing them all, R giving birth, Alex being nabbed, and R changing the signal--takes place over a couple weeks, does it not? A couple of weeks can be a season on Lost.
-
I was wondering the same thing Node/Hobo
-
Maybe all of the flashes will be to each of those moments? Or maybe the french team will all be touching Jin when he flashes and get the nosebleed sickness?
-
That Juliet shot in the head when they were on the ocean? I think its going to be big news some day.
-
The reason he had the turnaround with Kate, fessing up at the end, is the same reason he allowed Mike & Walt sail off that Pala Ferry Dock on the island...to appear to look like "One of the good guys". His "lie" to Kate had served it's purpose...Kate was with Jack at Slip 23...he knew it would take more to get that accomplished that Jack asking her to come.
Now...Sun...he knew she'd be a lil trickier (and a whole LOT more filled with vengence) than Kate. He still NEEDS to lie to Sun! He NEEDS to use Jin's well-being as a bargaining chip. I don't think he has the slightest CLUE as to whether Jin is alive or dead...but he does have that Rolex....and that watch is gonna keep Sun from poppin a cap in his ass.
Remember...Ben could give 2 shits about these people.
All he cares about is that island...and it's safety. he will continue to lie..."a lot" to quote Rousseau...until he gets what he wants. The 0-6 are just a means to an end. Those of you hoping that ben has somehow miraculously "changed" in the past 3 'off island' years...that..."maybe he IS a "good guy" afterall... haven't learned a whole lot in the past 3 seasons.
Guys...I wouldn't get too cozy with the idea that you are gonna get the "full on" Rousseau backstory...The flashes are happening so fast now...I doubt we will see much more than Montand's arm flying off in an explosion before...zip!...they are gone. I certainly don't think we'll see the birth/abduction of Alex.
One thing that WOULD be freaky, and possibly get into "paradox" mode...is if Right before the next flash...Jin...(or Locke, if they have found Jin by that time)...grabs pregnant Rousseau in a firm embrace in 1988...and Rousseau makes the jump WITH the rest of the Losties to a time EARLIER on the island...by 10 years or so. But she doesn't make the next jump.
This might help explain how that cutey Danielle got so fuckin rugged looking in just 16 years! I mean...c'mon!
-
Sounds kinky
-
is the son of Candle since shortly after he was introduced. It's definitely an intriguing possibility and now that Faraday has implied Miles has been on the island before, I give it a higher probability of being true. I do not believe he is Jin and Sun's kid through some time traveling.
-
Now...I didn't mean it like THAT kind of embrace!! I meant the "Holy shit...the sky is turning white...WTF is happening?...Oh...I'm standing next to a pregnant French chick...I better protect her..." kind of embrace!!
The paradox ensues when Alex is NOT abducted...cuz she's born 10 years BEFORE the abduction occured. And...gives us a chance for a more 'grown up' Alex to return to the show in a future time flash. Just a thought...but that one thing would create a lot of future problems if the island hasn't 'course corrected' the 'fix'. Would Keamy still be able to shoot down Alex in cold blood with ben watching helplessly? Would ben even care?
See...these are the kinds of things I HATE about time travel sories. -
I'm amazed some peopel can't buy how much rousseau changes in 16 years stranded on a desert island. JUST 16? That's a lifetime. I'm no expert here but that shit's gotta be rough on you. Anyone see Cast Away? Tom Hanks was on that island for only four years and it chnaged his hair color skin texture and complexion, and he lost about 80 lbs. If anything Rousseau hasn't chnaged enough.
-
The bullet did travel with Locke. Anything they are holding or have on them travels with them.
-
I guess your're right...We bring homeless folks in somtimes on the show I work on...and I'm always AMAZED at how YOUNG they are...Cuz...they always look 10 years older than they are. But...jeez...this actress they hired to play yound Danielle looked like she just got outta high school!
hst666...I can't believe ANYONE is still holding onto the theory that Miles is Jin & Sun's kid...since...well, you know...he has a PENIS! What kind of slack jawed cave dweller is still holding a torch for that one? -
What show do you work on that you clean up homeless people?
-
While Sun is watching Aaron?
-
I wasn't thinking dirty, now that I read it again it does kind of sound bad though.
-
This may be spoiler so look away now. In the previews to next week, there's a shot of Sawyer holding a gun on someone turning around. That someone is Jin. So I'm guessing they discover each other next week.
And the embraces continue. ;-> -
LOSt is holding it's audience this year. About 11 million each week.
...if you care. -
They've spelled it out early this season that you can't change events by time traveling. So everything they are doing has already been done. Obviously Rosseau told Ben at some point that they rescued a Korean man and Ben put it together, or she may have just said his name and Ben remembered.
I think LOST has gotten great this season but I'm a big fan of time travel stories. And this looks to be the mother of them all if they can hold it together. Seems that the reason they are trapped on the island is because they are trapped on the island. They are stuck in a mobius strip and what I keep wondering is why Jack was no where near the plane when he awoke way at the beginning of the first episode. He was unharmed and several feet away lying in the jungle. Is it because he time jumped there? Are they doomed to repeat the same thing forever? Given that the writers have said they are huge fans of The Dark Tower that ending seems more and more likely. For a while now I've thought the last shot of the series would be the first one in the pilot; Jack's eyes opening in the jungle after the plane crash. -
Funny that a guy named Hobo is asking about my affiliation with the homeless!
I wish I could say it was a noble cause...but I work in the video dept of a show on the Howard 101 channel on Sirius.
Occasionally we will have the homeless in for special occasions...Like "Homeless Thanksgiving" where we have strippers scrub them clean in a shower...brush their teeth, etc...Give them a fresh set of clothes...then we feed 'em a huge turkey dinner with all the fixins...oh...and plenty of beer for them to drink with topless waitresses dressed a pilgrims and indian squaws serving it to them.
I guess you could say it's a win-win. But talkin to these homeless guys (& girls!)...their stories are always amazing...and tragic. And they all look a decade older than they really are.
Then we drop them back off under their overpass and that's that.
Your "sounds kinky" line wasn't directed at my "embrace Rousseau" post?...What was it directed at?!! Lol!!
-
I honestly don't know what to say about that.
-
Today's issue is focused on Lost. I just posted the main article from their website along with the cover. http://lostroom23.blogspot.com/
-
I know, Hobo...I know. On the one hand...wow...what a decent thing to do. On the other...hey...isn't that exploitative?
Well...it IS radio gold...and at the same time...the homeless folks leave better and happier than when they came in. So...It's a wash in my book. When we have them say the prayer before dinner...and they remember all those homeless vets in their prayers...it is always heartwrenching....oh...and radio dynamite!
Also...I was directing that "sounds kinky" comment towards PA...not you, Hobo. -
I was wrong - something that, like most egomaniacs, I hate to admit. but I was CERTAIN that Jin was dead following the freighter explosion and said so here repeatedly. It was Edshrinker who took screencaps of the scene of the explosion. while there were people on the ship before the explosion and during the chopper takeoff, they were in the process of evacuating. (Evacuating in their pants, probably - I know if I was told to jump off a freighter I would.) However, in the actual scene where the ship explodes, there was no one - and no dummies, mannequins of miniatures representing anyone - on the DECK of the freighter. I think we did see that Michael was still in the hold when the bomb exploded, but the deck was clear. Ed proved it to me by showing me the actual screen caps of the scene. Yes, because of the compressed natiure of Tv storytelling, it seems like there was only a matter of 17 seconds between when we saw Jin on the deck and the explosion. but remember, to some extent, TV time is not real time (except on 24). Think of a comic book. We see a series of still scenes, but we don;t really know how much time elapses between the scenes. with TV we see a series of moving scenes, but there can still be time omitted between the cuts and scene changes. Penny didn't just squirt out a baby in two minutes like some wags here have suggested. She may have had an extended labor - but for the purpose of the story and to inform us "Penny had a baby", all we need to see if the moment when the baby was delivered. So, in consecutive scenes we see people, including Jin, on the deck and abandoning the ship. Then we see the freighter explode - with no one still on the deck. Depending on exactly when he jumped overboard, jin was either in the air or in the water, but he was NOT on the deck of the ship when it exploded - I had to have that proven to me and I had to admit I was wrong in order to arrive at that conclusion, so, yes, I'm pretty certain about it.

back on the deck of the freighter...Cuz...If they had BOTH made it onto that floating door after the explosion...They would have had to re-inact the ending of "Titanic". "No, Jin...I jump, you jump, remember?"...
Cue Celine Dion! -
Not sure I agree that "A couple of weeks can be a season on Lost" anymore. Same with the no flashbacks, no hoffs drawler rule. some people have asked how scenes set in 1954 aren't flashbacks and scenes set '3 years later' are flash forwards. Well, because it's time travel. Everything is happening at once. Or, at least, we are being shown everything that happened or will happen or is happening more or less at once, over the course of the season. Since we, along with the characters, are usually uncertain of when we are, it's hard to nail down a "now". I think the shows old premise that an episode equals a day or two of island time has been abandoned along with the flashes. Unless someone can support saying otherwise.
-
I think I read just about every post on this thread and I don't think anybody has mentioned this simple explanation re: Jin surviving the explosion.
Could it be that he hasn't fulfilled his destiny yet so the island protected him. The same way Michael couldn't die after he left the island because the island wouldn't let him. My memory is vague but didn't Mr. Friendly explain this to Michael last season?
Or am I just talking out of my a#@? -
The island may be protecting the Losties...although I'd think Neil Frogurt might have something to say about that! But, it would appear to protect the "core" characters...while punishing a few who were lucky enough to be granted flashback eppys....(Tough luck, Boone, Shannon, Ana, Eko & Chaw-lee!)
Hobo! I know, right? I was thinking about all those sites around the net that have Lost broken down into "Days" since the series premiere...Like..."Day 42, the Tailies make it to the other side of the island, Eko & Jin encounter mysterious strangers walking through the jungle" ...
WTF are those sites putting down NOW!!?
"Day, Um...let me see...I guess...day 105...ish?"
Darlton's big FU to the linear loyalists!

"Kill Kwon. Do it now" Ben - Season 3 Through the Looking Glass
by tallboy66
I'm not sure how it all played out, but Ben was totally ready to put a bullet in Jin's head way back in Season 3. Therefore, I don't think Russo told him about meeting Jin, otherwise he wouldn't be too ready and willing to cap his ass in S.3.
-
you guys are so passionate about the show. i think the show continues to be great and i can't wait to see how it plays out!
-
Glad to hear I didn't make a fool of myself.
I hear you about Boone, Eko, AnaL...etc. But I think in their case, the island let them die because it was necessary for the island "greater good". Their death served a purpose.
It would be interesting to speculate how different the story would be today if any of these people had survived.
Early on, when theories about the island being purgatory were still floating around, people used to say that characters were dying because they had redeemed themselves. I think this was only part of the explanation. Maybe they were going for redemption but, more importantly, the island was, if not "setting up" their deaths, at least letting them die so that the end game could be reached.
I think Jin still has an important role to play and the island could not let him die. -
It's not so much The Observer gets around. It's Gene! She's a hussy with kissy lips.
Good seeing you in Room 23. You might enjoy the "group Lost watch" every Wednesday. The West coasters pick up the East coast feed so we can all watch and comment together. Or at least during commercials. -
How ya been girl? I will try to be watching next week at 9pm eastern....but...much like our LOSTIES....I've been "time shifting" my LOST viewing due to an insane work schedule.
-
Actually before AAA or Eko got sick of living on small island and asked to leave the show Darlton had a big storyline about him being a spiritual rival to Locke. Darlton said that once he left they tweeked things and that storyline got shifted to another character. My personal guess would be Ben since he competed a lot against Locke in Season 3.
-
We finally got one of our girls back, where ya been? Know where Red went to?

Scroll up. (Fourth!)

I'm good thank you. How 'bout you? When will you be finished with those crazazy work hours? Eeesh!

Everyone's slowly but surely coming back. All the folks from last summer except right now we keep sliding past and missing each other. Guess that's apropos for a Lost TB and chat. :)

Thoughts while watching “the little prince” for a second time
by arzt go boom
love the Jack Shephard-patented dumbfounded triple blink of astonishment when he gets surprised by kate’s “I’ve always been behind you”. My god, matthew fox is an amazing actor.
“It’s what any friend would do” - is sun a friend?
Sun’s cold parenting, called aaron “honey”?? what is that about?
Is the doc who pulled jack away just pretending to be a hospital administrator to get jack away from sayid for the hitman? and are they both sent by ben to pressure sayid to want to get away from a conspiracy and back to the island?
Sayid never fails to fucking kick ass. Except when the writers feel like writing a weekend at bernie’s episode. That hitman was a rookie, couldn’t even see sayid coming from the corner of his eye. Don’t send a boy to do a man’s job. No punk like that is taking down Sayid.
Speaking of dramatic weather changes where day turns to night and rain starts falling, two days in a row now, when I’ve started watching Lost in the middle of afternoon, our beautiful January warm LA weather turns into a bleak rainy afternoon. Makes a nice moody setting to watch my favorite adventures of our lostaways.
I love the way sawyer kept staring at kate even as the light was hurting his eyes, fighting to see kate as long as he could. Good sign for those wanting to see sawyer triumph over jack.
Why does jack not tell kate about the hitman having her address? Why keep up the secrets? And why is kate keeping secrets from jack?
Locke and sawyer’s scenes this episode are brilliant. Love their chemistry. Love the character insight.
Miles: “those yahoos have been here for months”
Who the fuck is in the outriggers? We’re obviously post-Oceanic 6 departure. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the boat chase. Sawyer is a fucking rock-star, “time-travels a bitch.” Juliet is a cold ass bitch. Popping off bursts, taking down “other others” like it ain’t no thang! Through the water camera view is sweet, ditto bullet through the paddle. “THANK YOU LORD!!!....... I TAKE IT BACK!” golden.
God, I love Ben’s innocent delivery of, “that’s my lawyer”
Love the introduction of rousseau’s French crew by having them lost at sea in the same monster storm the lostaways flashed into. Awesome.
JIN!!! I knew it!! What an awesome way to make a re-entrance, Jason Bourne style!
Damn, Jin’s face looks fucked up! I guess that’s what a day’s worth of floating at sea with the sun beating in your face and time traveling will get you. Probably got some blast injuries from diving off the freighter when the C4 exploded, too. Young Rousseau is foxy. Love the French accent.
Lost untangled- so lame. Ugh. I am so Lost addicted, I couldn’t even stop it.
-
He turned the magic donkey wheel and ended up in the desert.
also, im not sure the island was "protecting" Jin like it did with micheal, it was more of a locke thing, he was floating out there for a while, any wounds would be healing pretty fast -
I don't have the best memory for all this stuff, but I do recall some desert scenes from last season with Sayid and Ben, I believe. But that was before Ben cranked the wheel. And can the Island vault a guy cross the planet to a desert locale?
-
Barfydog... you've hit on something. If Ben simply wanted to get the Losties to talk *and* the writers are going with the notion that you can't change the past, then Ben's order to shoot Jin actually has some redemptive value. On one hand, he knows that Jin will survive. On the other, he's *still* ordering someone to kill Jin. Regarding Alpert... remember Ben telling him "welcome back?" I suspect Alpert has frequent comings and goings, and that these support the theory I've previously offered--- the notion that he ages normally, but has a place he occasionally goes where (subjective) time passes much quicker than anywhere else on the Earth. Regarding Michael... the creators said they weren't continuing with the character, but it seems as if only fans have overtly claimed he's dead. It's looking more and more like certain characters (Jin, Michael, etc.) are going to be used as time-jumpers who are placed at times that would normally involve a flashback. Regarding Russo... they still haven't said whether Russo's team is currently in the past or the future. We've assumed she's in the past (just as we've assumed she's pregnant with Alex), but I suspect that one of these notions is going to be a little off. Whatever the case, I'm now wondering if the group that has to go back is truly "everyone," which would imply that the Oceanic 6 et al get back and then try to recover the other Losties throughout the Diaspora of time. Oh, yeah... and I also suspect Jacob might be Locke's dad.
-
I could totally picture Yorrick Brown saying that bit. May have not been his line, but felt like it.
-
I'm totally there with you hobo node. That's pretty much amazing Cheif.
-
maybe this has been covered by everyone already but if im not mistaken, didnt we see (or at least hear) young miles in candles home when shotgun willie is playing? i love the symbolism of marvins willie nelson record skipping and then later in the ep we hear faraday comparing the time jumps to a record skipping. miles is jin and suns baby? to me, that mystery is solved. i was under the impression that miles was candles son after we saw the scene of candles home.
-
thanks for the life on mars catch up post. you have got me interested in watching the show. i am going to make it a point to check it out this week and i will get back to you and tell you what i think of it. the twin peaks tv show never really took off for me. bits and pieces of it were good, but overall i really wish every ep could have been directed by lynch. i love the fire walk with me film. that movie at least kind of ties up the who shot j.r. question from the show even if it is done in a convoluted way. did you watch kung fu in the seventies? the way caines story is told is really similar to the way lost is done (well, maybe not this season but seasons past).
-
Actually I doubt Ben ever intended to kill Kwon. He either knew it wasn't his time, or more likely he knew Bernard would sing like a canary at that moment. More evidence comes later when Ben orders Tom to shoot the sand instead of actually executing them.
-
...was that the scene started with a closeup of the needle being put on the disc sand you could see some lint and a hair on the stylus. That's why the record skipped: schmutz on the needle. Now that's attention to detailLu, I watched Kung Fu a few times, not regularly, I was a huge fan of Marvel's Master of King Fu comic book series, though. I do recall, though, that the Kung Fu western stories were intercut with flashbacks to his days in the monastery.I missed the first couple of Twin Peaks but the folks I worked with and the customers were all talking and raving about it, so I caught the 3rd episode and that famous dream sequence in the room with the backwards talking dwarf just blew my mind and I was totally hooked from then on.
-
You know that Sun and Jin had a daughter, right?
-
ok ignoring Richard's part in all this for a moment...
do you suppose that JACOB might be time-tripping in his little cabin, like our little group on the island - thus explaining why sometimes he's there, sometimes he's not, sometimes he's someplace else...
assuming Ben really WAS able to speak to Jacob (he did know how to find him) that's a pretty good source of Ben knowledge right there - also, if he's STILL stuck, timetripping, there's a good reason for him to plead to Locke to "help" him - Locke, the man who's gonna save them all...
ok it's thin... but it only just occurred to me... -
in this and other TB's, so I apologize in advance (I just don't have the time to read the entire TB, they're so looooooong.) Anyways, when the unstuck losties skip through time, they seem to always appear at an important moment in the island's history: Jughead-day, Rousseau's team arriving, the hatch lighting up/Aaron being born, the drug plane crashing etc. Do you think this is relevant, that 1)the jumps aren't random (the island controls the jumps, or the moments the unstucks jump to have some sort of "temporal magnetism" or something just like nov 5 1955), or that 2) they are random and they just happen to jump to important moments (something I suppose would be okay, if maybe sort of kinda lazy writing. But not really any worse than other movie conveniences, like characters always turning on the radio at just the right time to hear relevant information). I suppose it would be dull if they jumped to sometime and it was just an ordinary day with nothing happening. Also, notice how all the main characters with sibling issues are dead (Boone/Shannon, Eko, Charlie), and the ones with daddy issues are still alive? Hmmmmmmm...I'm reaching, I know. Great show.
-
I suspect that the island is putting them when it wants them.
-
Some have guessed that Sawyer may end up being the hero of the series and win Kate in the end. Didn't he kill Locke's father and Mr Friendly in a cold-blooded executioner style? He also botched the mercy killing of the injured FBI agent that had captured Kate. Kate also murdered. Perhaps they will give the ultimate sacrifice and end up as the skeletons in the cave. In contrast Jin was given 2 oportunities to murder, his motive was what has always driven him- to keep Sun as his wife. Both times he refused. Don't even get me started on the Locke character, killing Naomi
-
I think that its totally #1. Whatever or whoever is causing the jumps is probably trying to teach them something and somehow knows that they can live through the nosebleed sickness.
I was at the San Diego Comic-Con I think that it was in between Season 2 & 3 and someone asked Darlton about all of the "Daddy issues" and they confirmed that that themme has been and would be a major factor in the series. -
Oh boy.
-
after he killed Friendly in cold blood I expected it would mark a significant turn in Sawyer's development, him going darker and more nihilistic. Hasn't happened yet, but I suppose it still could. Especially if he's going to spend three more years on the island (think that'll happen, or do you think they'll just make a jump into the future/present/2007?). And then of course he'll redeem himself in the final episode, maybe by sacrificing himself because he realizes Kate really loves Jack. Or not. I actually think he'll end up with Kate, and they'll be Adam and Eve. 4we8 et al, I agree with it probably being #1, but am unsure if somebody/thing is consciously sending them to specific times, or if it's just that those moments in time are moments when "lightning struck the clocktower", ie something happened to make them special nexuses (nexi?) in time. Maybe caused by someone/thing (the frogs, the plane) going through the Faraday Cage the island is protected by. I bet we'll se the plane crash from the POV of the unstucks soon. Maybe they won't even explain it explicitly, but rather just make a throwaway reference, like they did with how Des suddenly remembered Faraday at the hatch (which I suppose they still may explain...).
-
I was doing some housecleaning, making way for some home repairs.Being a packrat I found all sorts of things I should have thrown away, like old TV Guides.
I forget if it was Archie Bunker, Homer Simpson or Frank Constanza who said it, but I still quote it: the premise behind saving old TV Guides is based on the idea that they just MIGHT show all those shows again in the same order.Ennyway, one of these was from just about four years ago. It was one of those issues with the multiple covers - I had the Charlie and apparently there was also Sayid, Locke and... well, if I need to name the other three you don't know Lost or TV Guide.Anyway, the big feature article was their Ultimate Guide to Lost - with a paragraph long synopsis of ALL FOURTEEN EPISODES including profiles of ALL FOURTEEN MAJOR CHARACTERS. The didn't count Vincent but he was included in the 3-page spread cast photo.Of course they were as confused then as they are now. and of their "unanswered questions," some are moot or obsolete of have been answered, while a few of the remain relevant today.Polar bears?"Don't tell me it that's worth ten bucks on e-bay, it's already trashed and recycled, Like I said, I'm cleaning house. -
So far...best explanation I've heard yet as to why the cabin moves around, and doesn't stay in a locked position...and why Jacob appears to some, but not others.
Could the cabin be a nexus hub? Collecting time travelling souls? -
yeah, i realize that they had a daughter. i guess i was just trying to dispell the idea that miles is somehow jin and sun's offspring and that he is displaced in time thus explaining his advanced age. if you scroll up and read back you will see that a few posts on this tb were suggesting that miles was sun and jins son. i guess i was so deadset on disproving that theory that i forgot to mention the most obvious thing; jin and sun's child was a female (the only one that we are aware of at least). this time travel story arc has too many possibilities. it almost kind of pisses me off. i mean who's to say that there isnt a third locke watching the second locke watching the first locke knock on the hatch when the light shines through and so on, and so on, and so on.
-
is faraday telling the truth? if that is the case, then jin is part of the french teams memories. rouseou would have to remember him (unless she has been brainwashed at some point in the past since jin's encounter with her on the beach). what if locke had not been there to stop sawyer from killing widmore? what if sawyer would have put a knife in him? who or what would have stopped him from changing the past? killing young widmore would have definitely changed some shit up. maybe the time skip flash happens when the island senses that the past is about to be altered or tampered with.
-
when we refer to the island being a supernatural force in and of itself is it pretty much the consensus here that we are talking about jacob (or jakob; it seems like i have seen it spelled both ways)? jacob, widmore, richard, and ben are the keys to understanding the true nature of most of the mysteries on the island. what happened to widmore on the island? why didnt ben just kill widmore when he visited him? the "island" wont let ben kill widmore? why did the "island" let ben turn the donkey wheel if it is so omnipresent and domineering? the "island" has to be jacob because turning the donkey wheel sets the events in motion that will ultimately "help" jacob. am i making sense at all?
-
that sounds like an issue of tv guide that i would like to buy on ebay. i dont have that one. i have a usa today entertainment section that i kept with the losties pictures on the cover and a story about the upcoming second season. i think it was published a day before the second season premiered. i have a habit of keeping things like that.
-
To be fair... Crazy Danielle is the *one* character who I would absolutely buy either A.) not connecting a Korean named Jin she met once with a Korean named Jin she meets 16 years later. This is largely dependant on what the interaction will be like. For all we know Jum is with the French for 20 minutes then times skips away or runs of into the jungle when he reunites with the gang and the French are left thinking "Well he seemed nice..." followed by a decade and a half of trauma... OR B.) Danielle *does* recognize Jin but she doesn't find it remarkable because she's, well, crazy. Not entirely unlike when she encountered Locke at the "Black Rock" and was totally unfased ("Whatcha doin'?" "Getting Sawyer to kill my Dad. You?" "Grabbing a metric buttload od TNT. Later." "Yeah, see ya.").
-
I'm just catching up to the week's postings, but PBS/Node/Hobo why did you mention that Rousseau is only 16 in the life raft? I think Doc Jensen or someone at EW.com said the same thing. Was that mentioned on the show and I missed it? It was 16 years earlier, yes, but I would have guessed she was in her early 20's then. After all, they were a science expedition - why would a pregnant teen be with them? And she looked young, but not that young.
-
Hobo beat me to it, but Ben didn't plan to kill Jin at the end of Season 3. Remember BG Tom was saying that the orders were to shoot the sand, and not the prisoners? Even though Ben told them to kill them over the walkie-talkies? So he's been kept alive for some reason.
-
maybe 2/3 of the way through season 1, EW ran an issue about Lost that recapped all of the episodes and the characters. I would have saved it, but I was only a part time watcher then. Didn't get hooked until early into season 3.
-
Forget busting Hurley out of jail - how does Ben get Sun to return to the island without her daughter? Or does the daughter have to return too?
-
Without me doing too much research - when are they "breaking up" the season on the TV schedule? I thought I read they were going to take like a 3 week break between new episodes in March or April, then return with the final episodes to run through May. Does anyone know that schedule?
-
Hmm - when this season is done, maybe we should keep this TB going until season 6 - just because of the number!
-
Read the talkback. I just fucking asked that question twice.
-
Do you have any idea why LOST switched to the January season premier slot? CAUSE THERE WONT BE ANY BREAKS! Who the fuck is this troll? Please go to the fuselage shit site "big" moron.
-
I think that I had that issue. I tore out the Lost section and I think that I still have it.
-
He wasn't born on the Island. Some dick posted that it was Miles who is Jin's son. What is up with TV guide posters tonight?
I'm going to watch I spit on your grave for some real jungle action. No fuckin frill and no smoke monster. Just a big fuckin knife. -
It's starting to appear that the castaways are in some kind of time loop of Jack's creation, okay, they've pretty much laid it out that way. Richard had to know Locke was coming to the Island, didn't someone say to Locke they had been waiting for him to come?
I think something about Desmond's journey might be key. Could the castaways on the island need the off-island castaways as constants to stop the time skipping?
Faraday must've skipped on his own at some point as well, based on his notes about Desmond being his constant if something goes wrong.
And Charles Widmore funded Faraday's research, sounds like he's been aware for a long time all of this was coming. Widmore says it's always been his island, so does he travel back through time, too? Did he try to lay claim to the island in the distant past via time travel, only to have Jacob stop him?
That's it for now...my...my brain is hurtin'!!!
Time travel, after Lost ends it run, you and I are fucking DONE, professionally!:) -
also, does anyone know for sure that Marvin Candle's kid is a BOY - I mean has that been confirmed as fact by Darlton? I don't remember anyone specifically referring to the kid as "he" or "him" - but maybe there were gender specific toys or clothes that clued us in?
-
Actually BigE is one of the long timers and is deffinately not a troll. I think that he's thinking of something that was said when the Actors Strikes were still a possibility and a good idea.
-
Trolls are actually people who start calling others names for making comments or who attack for no reason whatsoever. So please if you have to act this way leave.
-
well said. i think the pot was calling the kettle black on that one. i agree with you totally. btw, i like the widmore rough sketch. i cant wait to see the finished product. i hope all is well with you .
-
planting the seeds of his eventual return to the island since 1954...
even Widmore respects "him" enough to send his best man (Abaddon) to make sure he goes to Australia and ends up on that plane - and remember those famous parting words about returning the favour at some unspecified point in the future...
The Wid doesn't respect any claim by Ben to "his" island but Locke, on the other hand, is part of Jacob's plan and may in fact be "him" -
im looking forward to the watchback of the previous seasons after season five ends. i think i am going to see a lot of obvious things that were not apparent to me before. i really need to watch season four again in its entirety. is everyone on board with the watchback again after this season? i say we keep the tradition going.
-
Well excuuuse me if I missed your earlier questions about Sun - Why I would ever miss anything a brilliant and charming TB'er like yourself might post I really have no idea! Now answer this, smart guy - at 17 episodes this season we're on track for the season finale to be either April 29th (2 hour-long episodes on the final night) or May 6th. The final show has been the on the final week of May for the past 3 seasons, during May sweeps. Why on Earth would ABC NOT run the final four episodes during May sweeps this year? They've got something else that will get better ratings? No, I distinctly read when the season premiere date was announced that there would be a short 2 or 3 week break in the middle of the season, specifically so that the final episodes would all run in May. It happened last year, thanks to the writers' strike, but this year it was planned. Prove me wrong, Tough Guy! I'll be here, if you happen to troll through!
-
The airdates of the remaining season 5 episodes? I am 99% certain that there WILL be a planned 2 or 3 week break during this season, not like the 6 week break we had forced on us last year.
-
I watched the episode live on our basement tv, and the show sounded just fine. But tonight when I watched it on the DVR, the sound was all messed up. Strange - the commercials that aired during the show were loud and clear on the DVR, but the show itself was on a very low volume and of poor quality. Anyone else experience that?
-
I don't know for sure, Spoilerfix has episodes through 5.14 non stop through April 15th, but no dates or episode title after that. I thought sure that Darlton said that there wouldn't be any gaps, but I could be wrong.
http://www.spoilerfix.com/lost.php -
April 22nd 5.15, April 29th 5.16, May 6th 5.17. So there could be a break, but I thought that the main reason that Darlton did the January - May thing was so that we would get the season as a non stop continuous whole.
-
Look at seasons 1-4: four episodes in May each time, with season finale between May 20 and 30. It just doesn't make financial sense for ABC not to do that during the May sweeps period, but I can't find anything on lostpedia or anywhere else that says otherwise. I'm sticking with my schedule theory until I'm proved wrong!
-
Napoleon Park:
The nickname for Annie Norris, as portrayed by Gretchen Mol, is "No Nuts."
I believe Clark Griswald has it right regarding high-definition resolution by major broadcasters. I just want to add that HBO broadcasts in 1080i. Or at least it does in my neck of the woods (which would be the Bay Area). Early one morning I stumbled on a test placard which stated such. -
... that was something i've been thinking about. perhaps richard and locke's first meeting was that time-jumping point where locke was shot in the leg. Richard was there because the african plane had just crashed and he was investigating... but what if that was the point in which he decided John was meant to be there, shortly after treating his leg... locke vanished. I'm pretty sure Richard would take note of that.
-
And I'll be any fuckin way I wanna be. This is AICN talkbacks, not G rated fuselage. Do you guys give out tissues after the circle jerks?
-
is now confirmed with that last post.
-
Was in the early 50's during the whole "Jughead" thing. The African drug plane was MUCH later on the timeline.
-
That's why Jacob never lets Locke see him. If they met it, at least in a way where Locke could figure out he was talking to his future self, it would create crazy ass paradox shit.
-
I can see some of the argument for this, but I also think that if this were the case, would Ben have been so willing to take John there? Unless even Ben doesn't know that Jacob is Locke. But that would mean that Ben doesn't know something. And frankly, madam, I find that notion absurd. Good day!
-
I think this is an example of what was set up with the Des-Faraday example. Rousseau didn't remember meeting Jin because it hadn't happened yet in her past. I guarantee that if Rousseau wasn't SPOILER!!!!! worm food END SPOILER!!!!, she would suddenly have a memory of Jin.
-
You can be anyway that you want to, but it refects more on you then anything else. Usually people who talk mean are trying to overcompensate for something else that they lack.
-
She would have suddenly remembered meeting Jin, if she was still alive. Though now I want to check back in previous episodes to see what kind of interaction the two have had so far!
-
the physics behind why Jin time traveled with the island rather then with the helicopter http://lostroom23.blogspot.com/
-
I see what your are saying, but there is one flaw: As far as we know the past cannot be changed *except in regards to *Desmond**. Danielle either met Jin or she didn't (we know now, she did). Her never mentioning it has another, probably less complicated, explanation.
-
"I see what you're are saying" not "your". Sorry.
-
My typing fails.
-
I really can't understand why it's such a stretch that danielle just didn't connect the dots between meeting a badly beaten thirtysomething shipwrecked korean 16 years ago and then seeing briefly, along with lots of other new people, a similar looking (though unbeaten) thirtysomething korean in 2004. Of all the shit that happened to Danielle around the time she met Jin for the first time, he is probably the most unremarkable. And it's not like they interacted a lot in '04, is it? Occam's razor guys, she just didn't remember him.
-
Exactly. However, if they show them hanging out and such a lot in the coming episodes, it will strain credulity, but I don't expect that, really.
-
And I don't expect that to happen either. The writers have already showed us that they are completely aware of all the problems time travel brings - after all, they did address Desmond not remembering meeting Faraday. I'm betting they predicted fanboys would be all over that "plothole" crying foul, and just wanted to say "Hey, guys. Relax. We know what we're doing." God bless them.
-
Please check back to see if there was much interaction between Locke and Ethan. Less time has passed since Ethan shot him. I usually make a point of remembering the faces of people that I wound at close range.
-
Danielle's had quite a bit on her plate since 1988. She just didn't remember Jin.
ToughGuy...say anything ya want...just don't make the Hobo angry...you wouldn't like him when he gets angry! -
I tried shaving with it once, but I cut myself and ended up reduced to a single cell organism. Damn reductionist personal grooming products... You may be right. Not sure if there's any way for the show to prove otherwise, as she has shuffled off the mortal coil, bereft of life she lies unbreathing, she is an ex-Frenchwoman. She's f'ing snuffed it! The only reason she stayed on the perch is that she'd been nailed there! Um... okay, that one didn't fit...

Ethan was a pretty cool customer when he wasn't threatening mass murder and torture and such (and somethimes even then). Even if there is no hint of recognition, I wouldn't expect it to show. Besides, I am 95% Alpert briefed some Others (Ben, Freindly, Ethan, Goodwin) to prep them.

here's a question for ya - when Desmond suddenly remembered meeting Faraday, we know subjectively for Daniel that was soon after beginning his time tripping adventures, but when exactly did it happen for Desmond?
was it Three Years Later as Ben desperately scrambles to get the O-6-and-Locke back to the island, post Jeremy Bentham, or was it EARLIER?
the reason I ask is coz of the whole pendulum scene with Eloise - was that possibly AFTER Desmond had found her in LA?
perhaps it is with Desmond's vital clue that she was able to calibrate her little pendulum thingy that seemed to tell her where to find the island and how long it would remain there until... it disappears again, presumably...
and yes, I was speaking of Richard's first meeting with Locke, subjectively for Richard not Locke - back in 1954 - back when Richard didn't know him yet, but knew he better find that smashed African plane 50 years later with a first aid kit and a compass... -
Do you work for BR? After reading your description of "Homeless Thanksgiving" I knew what show you were referring to. Bubba fucking sucks as far as the Sirius show goes, he really screwed the pooch with this new deal. Hmm, national audience or Florida? Hard decision. I am interested in hearing about your job though, because I can't in good conscience pay for BR, but I want to see Lummox flip out.
-
richard tells locke that he has to die to retrieve the O-6. what if richard had never told that to locke. i mean is richard telling locke he has to die to bring everyone back because richard has been to the future and knows what will happen? if it is destined to happen with or without richard telling him what to do then what is the point of richard even telling him? what if richard had never told him that? did richard possibly alter events by having that conversation with locke? i dont understand why faraday claims that events cant be altered (other than desmond apparently). i mean what the fuck would stop sawyer or juliette from knifing widmore if they really wanted to when they had him in captivity and charles starting talking shit? im no physicist (big shock right?) but it seems to me that time travel inexorably alters the past and future. honestly, i cant wait until the time skips are done. time travel convolutes the whole thing. it just raises too many possibilities. juliette seems like a snake to me for some reason. i still dont trust her at all.
-
I think it's all to do with "course correction" - certain things are going to happen (or NOT going to happen in the case of Michael's suicide attempts) no matter what and even if some details can be changed, like the when and where Charlie must die for example, they are still inevitable - or if you are looking at them retrospectively, unalterable...
to answer your question about whether it makes any difference if Richard clues Locke in or not, I think no it doesn't - just like it didn't make any difference that Desmond knew Charlie was going to die - and even told him so...
...and like if Ben had told Michael before he left the island he'd be back to blow up a freighter, it wouldn't have made any difference there either...
I wonder what made Ben so sure Alex wasn't supposed to die though? -
Interesting, Maniaq. I had not thought of that. It's the sort of thing they just *might* try, too. Brings to mind the last Jin/Sun episode, in a way, in that things are happening not when you think. Granted, Charlie Hume's age suggests otherwise, but it's not a guarantee.
-
Look for the entire "Lummox Meltdown" on Bubba Raw Vol. III, coming soon to your local F.Y.E. outlet. I edited that segment...and it is, indeed, priceless.
-
Des remembered Faraday three years after the island - I think Penny said it had been three years when he awoke telling her he dreamt he was back on the island. But was that before or after we saw Hawking with the pendulum? I think there is no mystery about the "present"(2007) timeline. What would that add to the show, other than convoluting it further? There's so much time jumping going on this season I think it unlikely that they would screw with the "present" timeline over several episodes just to be able to say gotcha! for the sake of it. Keep in mind, the Jin/Sun flashback/forward was confined to ONE episode, and was done for a specific purpose. I think the question one must ask oneself when speculating like this is WHY would they tell it like that? This show doesn't do twists just for the sake of it (IMHO). At least not anymore.
-
Now that the island is hopscotching from past to present and back...I don't think we need to be worried about the 0-6's "current" timeline being messed with. At least...not until a season finale...which is where they sprung the "flash forward" switch-a-roo at the end of season 3.
I would think they have some more surprises in store for us with timeline shifts...but...I think we're safe until the island stops quantum leaping. God...Lost was ALREADY a show that spawned wild speculation and crazy theories...Now this time travel business has thrown the barn door open for even weirder theories to fester. It makes my brain hurt thinking about them all.
I just wanna sit back and enjoy the ride! Is it Wednesday yet? -
just finished reading your blog. that was absolutely brilliant. You're probably spot on. Would love to hear some more theorizing on the smoke monster, and it changing the rules, too. :)

I tend to agree. I was simply commenting on what "Lost" is capable of. How wild theories like that no longer seem so wild. Narratively, if nothing else, it'd be too much.

Yeah I had similar audio issues and so did many other people above. It was annoying but glad to hear it wasn't just my television. Hope little E's are doing ok and GO STATE!
-
....
-
Got to a State game earlier this season - the Illini game, where MSU had to come back in the 2nd half to take it. (I showed up on the TV broadcast a few times as well - if you look really close!) Got offered tickets for 2 of the last 4 games too, but I'm too far out of town to make going to games a habit. I've got digital cable, but a crappy TV, so I wasn't sure what the problem was. I'm assuming they're running an "enhanced" repeat of the ep this Wednesday.
-
But I'm waiting for the big MSU-UM game Tuesday night first! I better stop talking sports before even gets ticked off here.
-
Thats OK Im just glad that Im not talking to myself anymore!!!
-
How does he know all about Dharma? I'm betting he sent his consciousness forward and found himself suddenly in a Dharma station in the 70's.
-
I'll miss...well, delay watching LOST for the 3rd week so far this year because of UNC dook tomorrow. It'll probably be Thursday before I see it. The following week it's a NC State game, but that's over at 10.
So 4 out of the first 5 weeks I have to delay my LOST viewing.
I think I liked Thursday's better. -
The Sarawak Chamber is a huge chamber in Gua Nasib Bagus which is located in Gunung Mulu National Park, in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the island of Borneo. It is considered the largest known underground chamber in the world.Physicists do not need mysticism, and mystics do not need physics, but Losties needs both.
Run to the hills..run for your lives...Just to spoil your thing..why did Ms. Klugh want to be shot..Why did all of Dharma have to die..they infected the timeline.
"We can't do that, Michael"Oh, yes, the impending love triangle..SAWYER and KATE and SAWYER..hmmmm. -
Well, he does/did work for Widmore.
-
MacFaux...Not sure what the hell your cryptic post was all about...but I will say, that line, "We can't do that, Michael", spoken by Klugh has ALWAYS stuck in my brain. Something about it made the answer "Why the fuck NOT?" a bigger LOST question to me than "What the hell is the Smoke Monster"!
I mean...Michaels question..."Why don'tcha just go get him (Ben) yourself?" was a valid one. I mean...it wasn't like the Swan hatch was "fortified"....nobody was watching the door leading IN...just guarding the room Ben was locked up in. Hell, Libby got SHOT just because she was walking in there like it was no big deal. Your tellin me the Others couldn't have just stormed that hatch and retrieved their leader? Why did MICHAEL have to do it?
Now...with the time travel cat out of the bag...it really makes ya wonder if preserving the time-space continuum was the reason. That Michael HAD to take that deal to get Walt back...so he would kill Ana & Libby...and leave the island when he did...only to come back and perish by blowing up the freighter...which validates why his suicide attempts all failed...that Michael's path was 'destined'.
If so, that puts the first REAL introduction that time travel, or, the knowing of future events, was gonna be a huge part of LOST way back in mid Season 3.
Of course, many would argue Adam & Eve in the cave from Season 1 may have been the first clue.
MacFaux...I don't know if you are full of shit or not...You sound like you might have a spoiler there that would blow the lid off of LOST...
Or...you could just be a desperate Heroes troll looking to stir some shit up...
But your inclusion of that obscure and oft overlooked Miss Klugh line makes me want to hear MORE of your crazy spoiler. -
What's this shit about mysticism and some fuckign chamber in Malayasia? Lay off the pipe son.

only 33 hours till the next new episode of LOST

The Others couldn't free Ben because Ben planned to allow himself to be captured for two reasons. One he wanted to gain Jacks trust so that he would operate on him. As he said in the Ben/Juilet conversation in the ? Station in Expose and during his "Shot to Sunshire conversation with JAck while Jack was in the Shark tank.
The second reason was to size up a reqruit Locke. As evidenced by conversations with Locke while captive in the Swan & at different times in season 4. -
Um...I don't know how deliberately deceiving the guy you want to fix your tumor problem would in ANY WAY gain an ounce of his trust. Then he disappears with two of Jack's friend's lying dead on the floor and Michael pointing a finger at the exposed Henry Gale fraud? Then he goes on to have to use extortion to get Jack to perform the surgery anyways! Did anything Ben did in that Swan hatch gain Jack's trust?
C'mon.
There's more to the "We can't DO that" line than that, brutha.
Now...the second reason you gave makes more sense...especially if Ben was clued in by Alpert that John was destined to be the island's savior. But still...Did ben really need to be the guy to get caught up in Rousseau's net? I mean...Danielle shot him with an arrow...sayid and Ana beat him within an inch of his life...Not a very good plan for someone as smart and as calculating as Ben. I realize Goodwin & Ethan failed him...so perhaps he took on the "if ya want something done right, ya gotta do it yourself" approach...
But it STILL doesn't explain why Miss Klugh said what she said...are you saying Ben told her..."Don't come rescue me...Send Michael"?
I dunno, Pa...I think it goes way deeper than Ben's big "plan". -
Haven't thought about her in a while. I missed most of the watchback this past summer - so I'm looking forward to rewatching old ep's this coming summer! See everyone in the next talkback tomorrow, though I liked this node40000 thing. Oh - and way to go MSU tonight!
-
i missed most of the watchback this past summer too. for some reason, i am really inspired to rewatch the past seasons since this current season started. i really want to revisit some of seasons 2 and 3.
-
The show has basically come out & said that Ben let himself get caught as part to a plan to con Jack into doing the operation and then changed plans once Jack found out about it. I doubt that "We can't do that, Michael" means anything more then her words with all respect. But I have been wrong before.

Those spoilers look mighty tempting!! But I think I'm gonna try and stay spoiler free for tomorrow nite. Been so busy with work...I've forgotten what the promo for this week even looks like! And...after knowing a lot of the reveals in last week's episode beforehand (except for Jin's return, thank Jacob)...I think I'm gonna take tomorrow nite's episode in with a "Tabula Rasa".
But I totally disagree with ya on the Klugh line, Pa...That line, to me, told me for the first time that "The Others" had rules to live by. "We can't DO that, Michael" was as important a line to me as Ben's reaction to Keamy shooting Alex...it's as if he thought it wouldn't happen...and yet it did...as if a "rule" had been broken...the same way I felt when Ben and Widdy had their little conversation in Chuck's bedroom...when Ben said "We both know I can't do that" reffering to Ben being unable to kill Charles, even if given the opportunity.
There are some funky rules in play here, Pa...and I think Miss Klugh's line was the first indication of these unspoken rules, and was delivered back in Season 2, "Three Minutes"!
Why CAN'T they DO that? Why can't Ben just whack Widmore when he has a chance? Why couldn't The Others go rescue Ben instead of sending the trigger happy Michael? Did Keamy 'break' a rule when he put a bullet in Alex's head? Ben sure seemed confident he wouldn't...or...couldn't.
Not sure if any of it has to do with this time travelling storyline...but...it almost seems like they are attempting to NOT mess up the past or something with these rules. I dunno.
My head hurts.
-
I'll see ya in tomorrow's new TB...As cool as it is being the 40,000 AICN node and all... "This Place Is Death".
-
everyone's posts in the new talkback whenever it finally gets posted.........

is it time yet?

Because my ACIN name used to be paburrows for my name Paul Andrew Burrows, but I got bored with that. (Just like Hobocode used to be Node then a bunch of numbers.) But I started to think that paburrows was unoriginal so I changed it. Although I've been thinking about maybe changing it back.
Cheif - I think that your reading into things a little to much. Some one here said that we shouldn't be looking for the massivly complex reasons. Also my theory has already been laid out a number of times. But I well could be wrong as I have been before. I just can't wait to see it all unfold! Lets agree to disagree for now. -
Is a copy and pasted synopsis from TV Guide...and all the videos Pa posted at Room 23 last night, copied and pasted under it?
Remember when the LOST TB was already up before you even turned your computer on that morning...and Herc had actually WATCHED the episode...and you dreaded highlighting his invisotexted: "How does it end, spoiler boy?" tag line?
Remember those days? -
Anyone notice that Herc made a Fringe Talkback and said to keep it going til April? Kind of like what we do.
-
where is our new LOST talkback gods damn it
-
And so where's tonight's talkback???? We got nothing, and the show's on in 5 hours!
-
I feel motivated to check out those seasons now as well. So much of what happened before and we didn't understand is poised to finally pay off!
-
my entire fucking to do list just fucking disappeared, and when I go to my prioritizer it says all of my shows have zero upcoming episodes......

This Was a Test of the Emergency Lost Talkback System
by kevinwillis.net
This was only a test. In the case of a real emergency (Season 6), you would have been treated to a strange finale in which everybody had been dead for a long time, but it was all okay, and Kate shoots the bad guy.
