Olivia Thirlby Rocks The Mic In Support Of BREAKING UPWARDS!

All praise to /Film's Peter Sciretta for putting SXSW competition selection BREAKING UPWARDS on my radar. The twentysomething romantic comedy stars "real-life couple" Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones as a "fictional" couple who decide to spice up their long-term relationship by breaking up a little. Basically, they decide to have "together" days, and "fuck who you want" days, which, of course, goes off without a hitch - especially when Wein takes up with a nubile temptress played by Olivia Thirlby.
I'm not familiar with the work of Wein or Lister-Jones, but they've assembled a pretty impressive cast (drawn mostly from the New York City theater scene). And then there's the Thirlby. And when you've got the Thirlby, you might as well cut a silly, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS-ish rap video. It's embedded below, and you are quite welcome.

The plot looks pretty stupid ("Hey, want to ruin our relationship?") but the music video at least shows them to have a decent sense of humor.

Sure, Olvia Thirlby is very sexy. I give it that. But there really is nothing worse in comedy than very white people "rapping." It's never, ever been funny. Just embarrassing for the people doing it.
