Monday Brings The First HEROES Since Dec. 15!! Does It Continue To Suck??

Published at:  Feb 02, 2009 4:13:00 PM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Tonight’s episode of “Heroes,” 3.14, is the first to air on NBC this year and launches another “volume” of the series, this one titled “Fugitives.”

Titled “A Clear and Present Danger,” the episode is a remnant of the show’s Jeph Loeb era, and word is the season gets really bad around 3.17-3.18. The shiny new Bryan Fuller era does not begin until 3.19. The season’s final hour is 3.25.

I can find very few reviews of 3.14, which suggests one of two things: a) it was sent to very few members of the media; or b) it was sent to a great many in the media but the overwhelming majority of them can no longer be bothered to write about the series.

I did not get a copy, though I did get copies of the shows that bookend “Heroes”: tonight’s unexceptional 3D “Chuck” (an episode that reminds me why I haven’t yet bothered to watch any of the season-two “Chucks” that have piled up on my DVR); and tonight’s season premiere of “Medium” (the weakest season premiere of the typically enjoyable psychic-mom series I can recall; next week’s episode is much better and demonstrates perhaps that Alison DuBois’ superpower is growing stronger).

I’ve so far found two reviews of tonight’s “Heroes”; if you find others, kindly email links or just post them in talkback.

The Newark Star-Ledger says:

… Peter's been a sucker for far too long for his spine to be believable now. Characters keep changing as randomly as their loyalties used to. (Nathan sarcastically asks Peter, "Just out of curiosity, what can you do these days?") And the storytelling is still too dumb by half. There's a scene near the episode's end where Peter is desperately trying to avoid falling out of an airplane -- even though he reminded us earlier in the episode that he can still fly. …

Us Magazine says:

… what’s clear is that the show’s complex plots have been severely dumbed down — leading to corny dialogue (sample: “We have to stop them!”) and oh-brother twists that will make viewers yearn for Heroes’ glory days. That said, an intriguing story line involving brain-sucking Sylar (Zachary Quinto)’s quest to find his dad and the Petrelli brothers’ tense dynamic are worthy reasons to hang in there. For now.

“Chuck”: 8 p.m. Monday. NBC.
“Heroes”: 9 p.m. Monday. NBC.
“Medium”: 10 p.m. Monday. NBC.

    by chrth

But that's really because my wife watches 24 and not Heroes (she gave up in Season 2), not an indication of quality.
But yeah, I was disappointed with how the Villains storyline ended. I thought the future with Sylar and Noah showed tremendously cool possibilities, but apparently tptb didn't have the stomach for whatever they were planning and let the never-ending Eclipse 'change everything' (yawn)
That said, it's great that they gave Ando the power to transfer his power of !AWESOME! to others.
But I'm basically hoping Fuller has a miracle planned, because there has been way too much wasted potential with this show

    by abysstare

I can't speak for the 3-D ep, which hasn't aired yet, but the season so far has been fantastic... if you're not watching, you're missing out. If ever there was a show that deserved it's own per episode talk-back, it's this one.

This show's combination of character development, action, comedy, and romance has made it a winner. It's the first television show I've actually given a damn about and watched regularly since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In fact, I haven't owned a tv for over four years, so I just stream this on hulu instead.

    by iammrmonkey!

Both "Lost" and "BSG" aired exceptionally strong episodes last week. Who wasn't biting their teeth during the mutiny or smiling at Locke's "Nice to meet you" comment? It all makes "Heroes" look like the cheerleader you banged in highschool only to meet her a few years later and she's a single mom of three injecting stuff between her toes in a restroom?

    by deathletter

HEROES was amazing for about the first 9 episodes of Season 1. Remember when Claire woke up in the middle of her own Post Mortem? Frickin' genius?

Then it became obvious how painfully slow the story moved, how little drama there is (no-one really ever dies, so who cares?)..........I gave up watching it about 6 eps into S3, I'd lost any real interest long before.

That's pretty much all I care about now. Who gets to be the Catalyst was stupid (especially with time travel). Andro being evil in the future was silly and didn't even generate any good jokes. Sylar killing Bell was pointless and brought nothing to the show. Army of Mutants was dumb. I watched the last half of season three in fast forward mostly and think my life was better for it.

I hate heroes, let's get that straight.

But to call BSG anything short of freewheeling right now is bewildering.
Last weeks LOST was bummed by all. It aired, I watched, I was disappointed. A bunch of confirmations to things they have HEAVILY hinted at before and a lot of exposition. I honestly felt it was one of the weakest eps since The Constant. Definitely NOT LOST at it's best. I hope it was just to set up some things this season. Now, onwards to greatness once again for TPTB at LOST.

Seriously though, did the writers of BSG not learn anything from Lucas' political meanderings????

Heroes was NEVER as good as Lost, but I really did enjoy the hell out of the first season. The first season finale was a major disappointment, and I hoped it would be made up for in the second season, but alas it was just a sign of things to come. Four episodes into the second season I said 'Fuck this' and I've never watched an episode since. Every once in awhile I get the urge to rewatch the first season, but decide against it cause it's like reading an interesting first chapter in what turns out to be a really shitty book.

from my DVR without watching them. There is so much wasted potential on this show. This is a show where the writers either (1) make it up week to week without a plan, or (2) are so incompetent, they cannot give voices to their characters. They are all simply ciphers whose behavior and emotions are merely tools to progress the plot. Actually they are worse than ciphers because they have distinct personalities that appear to change without rhyme or reason.

I can't wait to find out what happens next week! And I thought "Lost" was nothing short of brilliant with the slow, steady revealing of answers we've been waiting for and strong performances by Daniel and Desmond's actors. But did you really not enjoy "The Constant"? The problem with BSG is that I just can't buy into it anymore. Everything feels like a good or bad decision and/or moment, not a flowing plot line (like LOST - I hate to compare everything to it, but it really is one of the best examples of great television). I'm sad to acknowledge it, as I really hoped it would have a strong finish. Here's to the last 7 (?) eps upping the quality though.

although loeb is taking the heat for the mess that is season 3, the responsibilty rests firmly on the shoulders of the show runner there were many ways they could have gone with the show, including, buying the rights to rising stars and revamping the show into that series' storylinesin the first year, kring was either lying about having a 5 year plan, or decided to drop his bible, once he saw that certain characters had become more popular than the show itself, and then he allowed the show to descend into tv clicheville he also missed the fact that the reason certain characters became popular was due to fuller's ability to write realistic character driven storylines but as i have the feeling that obama alone cannot repair the economy, i am sure that fuller alone cannot repair this show

Chuck could get another season, but Fuller fans better start their save Heroes campaign in 1..2..3..

There's an awful lot of bad TV out there. You can call us haters, but the fact is, if we decide that Heroes or Chuck or What the Fuck is "great TV", we're never going to get anything better than that. Because we're saying that type of shit show is worthwhile. And the bar gets lower every year. We used to get broadcast shows like Wonderland. Something that actually challenged us. Now we get crap like The Mentalist. If we keep clapping our hands like seals at all the shit the networks shovel at us, the quality is just gong to continue to decline. Five years from now, It's going to be My Mother the Car and Dull or Too Dull, 24 hours a day, and all the little seal flippers will bang against each other in celebration.

    by gotilk

How do you do it? Simple. Have a plan and keep track. Something they should have done from day one. I mean, I know they didn't plan on sticking with the same characters (bad choice.. screams "we thought we would fail and no-one would love our characters"), but pick a plan, stick with it and keep a "bible" that the writers are forced to study that INCLUDES character's past attitudes, motivations and decisions. Too many characters are all over the place. And it's not just being "unpredictable", it's more like "unplanned". For so long I kept saying to myself and others.. "you know.. I trust it.. I think they have a plan". I was wrong.

Having said THAT, I think a show can tackle these ideas.. time travel... people who absorb powers, etc. You just have to have rules and stick to them. I also think Heroes WILL improve. But it's no Lost.

The only way Peter could have worked...

    by themarinebiologist

...was if he was pitted against Sylar at the end of S1, killed Sylar, then was blown up for good. Dead.

The only way a "power absorber" could work would be if he was made to counter a character whose quest it was to murder people and take their powers by force. Two titans facing off with epic powers as the end of the world is nigh...

And then you kill them BOTH. Have them take each other out and the show becomes less overpowered. Since both Sylar and Peter survived the S1 finale, the show basically fucked itself and tried to find different ways to make Peter powerless. In S2, they took away his memory and thus his ability to remember his powers. In S3, they took away his powers, only to give them right back at the end of the season.

Go back in time, save the Season 1 Finale and you save the series. Or you can take a fucking leaf out of LOST's book and show that you CAN'T change the future.

As long as their keeping a show bible for characterization, might as well keep one for abilities. When Papa Petrelli took Peter's ability and used lightning, I screamed at the television, "THAT'S NOT HOW PETER'S POWERS WORK!"

They have to keep tabs on which characters have which powers and how those powers SCIENTIFICALLY work, if they want to continue this "realistic approach to superheroes." I don't care how they want to explain these abilities, but just make sure that they have a definition of how it works.

Chuck delivers every episode.Gave up on Heroes mid-way thru S2, when Claire used her and fly-boy's powers to Get On The Cheer Squad, and the runnin siblins kept runnin and weepin and then runnin some more. All that time in ancient Japanifornia didn't help.I will need convincing to give Heroes another try after Fuller attempts to salvage it.

But the new writers have to pick up from where the old writers left off. And I don't see NBC okaying the complete retooling of this cast that they just LOOOVE to advertise.

    by watch_the_world_burn

I torrented season 1 since it was getting so much love at these talkbacks. I'm halfway thru & so far I'm underwhelmed.Yes, blondie is hot and the characters are at least consistent - but Heroes has better action sequences and is more thrilling. I find the plotlines for Chuck to be a bit too weak, the conclusion is telegraphed within the first 15 minutes. And many of the comic elements fall flat. I'd put it on an even tier with Heroes - Chuck is much less frustrating than Heroes, but Heroes is slightly more entertaining. Still not good enough though. A bit surprised since the talkbacks put me onto Mad Men and True Blood - two bloody good shows that I'm really enjoying!

As usual forced sudden plots shoved on thin chars

    by reflecto

Matt raised Molly as his daughter, oh wait that's gone. Micah and Monica are the future of the heroes, oh wait nevermind. Looks like Tim Kring read "Civil War" during the hiatus and got a hard-on, and said "let's do that." So Claire hears ONE CONVERSATION and suddenly it's OMFG THEY ARE HUNTING US LET'S RUN. This shit comes out of nowhere, just like every random forced plot on this piece of shit show. The 1-D characters keep falling for the same ploys by the same lying bastards (Nathan, Sylar, Mrs. Petrelli) and act shocked, SHOCKED! when Sylar or Nathan or Mama P betray them again. How many times have the Petrelli bros had this same lame conversation? Every year they give Adrian Pasdar no motivation except "act vaguely sinister and we'll figure it out later." I HATE THIS SHOW

Setup the rest of the volume we know who the players are and what their motives are which is good but it is the little things the show does wrong. Is there no continutity editor for the show. We had a scene specifically built for us to know what power Peter has at the moment so we know he can fly now why would the audience feel worried about him falling out of the plane since we know he can fly? it stuff like that where the writers lose it. should of had hiro holding on since we know he doesnt have any power thats drama

PETER CAN ONLY ABSORB ONE POWER AT A TIME

    by popmeow

It would make sense why he, suddenly, started losing against the soldier.

It also explains why he was suddenly surprised by his ability to freeze things. He was able to put two and two together (unlike some talkbackers) and knew that if he was sucked out of the plane, he would die.

So now, he can only absorb one power at a time . . . until he runs into Sylar and absorbs his ability.

As someone said earlier it looks like they fixed Peter's ability. An article in USA Today said they were cutting out time travel too, and pending Hiro getting his abilities back, looks like this is true.

Fuller had said we'd start seeing the heroes back in their normal lives which I was looking forward to, but it looks like that only lasted 20 minutes. Nevertheless, I was impressed for the most part with this episode.

Favorite part was Sylar owning the troops, especially when he pulled that guy up to him and interrogated him. Least favorite: Claire in general. And yes, the "unexpected landing" line was pretty bad. Screaming "land the plane!" would have sufficed.

    by fasteddie8139

They officially should have killed Peter off at the end of S1. I appreciate the attempt to limit what he can do, but the new single power/touch thing is pretty stupid, since now they'll have to invent reasons why Peter has to take and use somebody's power because they can't use it themselves; otherwise Peter serves no purpose at all. With this writing staff, that running plot point is going to become old in a hurry.

Camera Angles, Jet Fuel and Quibbles

    by popmeow

Yes, the angles were . . . different . . . from previous seasons, but then again, previous seasons tended to be rather bland and standard in their overall style. All I kept doing was imagining each new angle as a comic book panel and, quite honestly, they worked. Guess it's just me. As for the single plane ride . . . remember, Nathan thinks Peter only has the ability to fly. And besides, are our Congressmen/Senators/government agencies really all that intelligent? Doubtful. Also, Nathan and Peter haven't spoken in months and he has no clue about Peter's new ability to absorb powers. If anything, I took issue with Claire's ability to "sneak" on the plane. Right . . . like they wouldn't have had drones with night-vision all over that airfield. I would like to add that if I hear "Claire bear" even one time this season, I'm gonna punch the screen. My only REAL issue with this episode was the attack on Sylar - talk about poor judgment. Let's see . . . attack a guy with the powers of telekinesis, lie detecting, lightning and . . . oh, right . . . invulnerability.

Couldn't they just attack him when he's asleep? Or better yet, have his uncle hug him and shock him. Also, I'm assuming that Bennett's new partner has powers of his own?

    seriously

    by wixmmm

seriously, can anyone tell me if there has EVER been a bigger fall from grace for a tv show? I mean, this is gonna be legendary. In my opinion a new phrase needs to be made-- i don't think 'jumping the shark' is adequate enough anymore... i am soooo forgiving about shows i like, and always have stuck it out and seen them through... but man, I used to wait for monday night all week in anticipation, now its just painful to watch... they should have passed on heroes and waited for someone who a) can tell a superhero story b) LIKES superhero stories and c) knows where to go with a superhero story once the beginning is open. Millions of pages of comic books yet they steal from 'the fly?' That's proof-- Kring just isn't good enough to create a superhero show. He had all the material in the world, but he was so proud that he ripped off something he respects because he is probably too ashamed to turn to comic books for material. The guy's a joke, he's insulting to the fans and doesn't give an ounce of respect to the medium of comic books. I've read and enjoyed Loeb's "Long Halloween" "Dark Victory" and "Hauntred Knight" Kring was the showrunner and he was drunk at the wheel... blame should be placed squarely on his shoulders, not loeb.

    It wasn't half-bad

    by filmstu2005

I must say, im relieved that this Vol 4 episode wasnt a total shitfest continuation of Volume 3. I had to isolate this volume 4 from the slow-paced, unsuspenseful, failed execution of Vol 2 and the Vol 3 travesty.

Once I got that awful taste out my mouth, I started to see the episode as a continuation of Season 1 (minus The horrid S1 finale). I was sort of satisfied. There were some mishaps, some things were kind of iffy, but not half-bad. (Although I hated the cheezy NBC promos for this volume). If we get more episodes like this but better and beyond, consider me a non-negative critic.

Brian Fuller says the first 3 episodes are amazing, which are 14 15 and 16, and then he said it gets muddled & dense in the middle, which are episodes 17 & 18, and then he officially joins on episode 19. So im expecting a return to greatness...

I don't know if I can make it to Fuller

    by _maltheus_

The pressure is going to be on when Fuller takes over. He can't wait to make radical changes cause if Heroes isn't showing serious progress by the finale, I don't think I can stick with it. And I've been known to stick with the crappiest of the crap. The writers need to focus on one thing and one thing alone, STOP MAKING THE CHARACTERS SO FUCKING RETARDED!!!!!!!! Apparently, the only thing more stupid than the characters on this show are the writers themselves. How the fuck do they manage to tie their shoes in the morning? Or are they using those velcro shoes? Seriously you dumb fuck writers, stop smoking mercury! Ok, I just looked it up, I guess Tim Kring wrote this one. I don't care if he's the creator, NBC needs to fire his monkey ass too, ASAP. Or give him a fucking mop and and job more suited to his "talents." People are losing their jobs left and right in this economy, yet Hollywood still pays out 6 or 7 figures to these dumb-as-a-stump motherfuckers. I'm not giving another dime to Jerry's kids, I'm sending them to Hollywood with crayon drawn resumes. If I hadn't heard Fuller was coming back in a few, this ep would have been my last. Absolute, unforgivable crap.

The OC actually had a nice rebound for the final season, in my opinion. yeah it went to hell, but the last season was enjoyable. And that final montage of them growing up with patrick park music playing was a brilliant end to a show. I'm glad i stuck with it, cause it did finish strong. On a sidenote--patrick park is an insanely good songwriter--his cds have been in my regular rotation for well over a year now.

Lost does seem to have improved. Pushing Daisies was the only other show I could say that about. I guess 24 is more enjoyable, even if it is dumber than usual. Not too bad.

    by toonol

This episode wasn't too bad, compared to earlier.

A couple of the complaints upthread are irrelevant. They've obviously changed Peter's power, and he _couldn't_ fly when the airplane got ripped open.

The editing in the apartment scene with the old guy was freaky deliberately, cause the guy died months ago; he was a psychic vision, and so it had 'dream' editing.

There's plenty to complain about; I don't think Claire will ever be believable as an action hero, for instance. Just don't complain about things that make it evident you didn't pay attention.

    Big Falls

    by _maltheus_

Most of you probably don't remember Earth: Final Conflict. While the first season of that wasn't as good as Heroes S1, the dive it took in season 2 still stands out as the worst for me. And that's only because S2 of Heroes was at least watchable compared to S3. Come to think of it, Andromeda also took a major dive once Kevin Sorbo started complaining that he couldn't understand it in S1. But Heroes is certainly the most famous show to suffer such a large fall. I actually didn't mind too much when Fonzie jumped the shark in comparison.

Fuller is suppose to come back in 3x19, I'd wait till the end of this season to see what the consensus is. The show turned south when he left and he's also responsible for Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls so there's a chance he could resuscitate it. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. S2 is a lot closer to S1 in quality than it is to S3.

    by napoleon park

Actually, I thought this episode was fairly fast paced and comparatively tight. The amount of plot development in this episode would have taken all of season two.Look, Heroes was never about being a great superhero comic book. It's more like a average second string entry level book drawn in the company's house style - more product than art. Forget about continuity and logic, they bring in a different writer every three months who starts new things that the next writer refutes or abandons. Odds are if you read Marvel as a kid you've read a lot of that kind of comic. Well, that's what kind of comic Heroes is.Oh, and "Chuck is great, stop the hate"... but Reaper is better. If only it was on a real network.

    One big problem

    by filmstu2005

I am DONE with the painting the future thing. Issac Mendes was the character on the show who could paint the future. Matt Parkmant was just the fat cop who could play with other people's minds. Now how does that translate to him seeing the future? The same with Hiro in Vol 3 who was able to see various pasts of certain villains via dreams (Total crap. But I forget, i totally erased vol 3 from my mental library). Now Matt Parkman can not only see the future, but fuckin DRAW it too like Issac Mendes thanks to AfricanIssac, as Hiro so retardedly dubbed him. Now we have more prophetic paintings coming out. Why are the writers bringing back lame plot devices that clearly did not work the first, second, or THIRD time around? Matt Parkman's power is to hear thoughts and play with ones mind. Not paint the future. Get it right! If I see any of the Heroes acting based on someones prophetic paintings then I am done with this show.

For the first time in a while i was fascinated about how a sequence was going to play out. Still hate the visions and future predictions(worse line."im not really here parkman, its an illusion..like life") Loved all the sylar stuff. Any Fallout Videogame fans ?

    by itchy

If so, did you catch the Sylar visiting his "dad" scene ? Sylar walks into the shop in Baltimore, Maryland ... which ain't far from Bethesday, Maryland, which is where Bethesda Softworks, the game company that made the recent Fallout 3 video game is. As he's walking in, the Ink Spot's "I don't want to set the world on fire" is playing, which is prominantly played throughout the Fallout 3 trailers and in the game. On the door to Sylar's dad's watch shop is a character that looks exactly like the Pipboy logo from Fallout 3. And when Sylar's dad appears, he is sighting Sylar down the barrel of a rifle, in a shot taken directly from Fallout 3. Can't possible be a coincidence, and some pretty good "inside geek" reference from an obvious fan of the game on the show.

Herc bags on Chuck when it has really found its groove in S2. It's fun, and doesn't waste its guest stars. Heroes was good in the 2nd half of S1, fizzled out, and is still wandering in the woods. None of the characters have any credibility nor consistency. They've even managed to ruin the one who did, HRG. Hiro is a parody, Claire is whiny, and the Petrelli Bros. both look like they need laxatives. Those unmentioned should have been expelled long ago.

    by artisticgrief

Obviously inconsistencies regarding characters has become a massive weak link to this show. And it looks like there are some between the beginning of Fugitives and the end of Villains. Peter's power for example. And the big one was Mr. Bennett being a bad guy again. I'm willing to allow these inconsistencies though if they just stick to them this time around. A reboot in some areas is fine with me. The huge plus was the lack of time travel. For so long I've just wanted the heroes to come together to confront something in the present, and Fugitives looks like it's going to do exactly that. On the opposite side of that coin though, I wish they would bury the whole "paint the future" thing.

when the African dude was talking to Parkman that one shot would show him with his walking stick behind his head resting on his shoulders and another shot showed him holding it next to his side touching the ground. It kept going back and forth. I just thought it was a little annoying and seemed like some bad editing. Anyways this show needs a total fucking makeover bad.

    by lowman

The show has fallen, no doubt. But that was the best episode in the last 2 years. And Heroes is still better than 80% of the shows out there. Could it be better? Yes, but hating it just to bee cool is fucking stupid. I look foward to seeing what Fuller can do, after the Piemaker he has earned that much from me.

Heroes is balls - Lost is The Balls

    by the penultimate gunslinger

Man. Just watched the new Heroes episode. As awful as it was, its worst crime is being boring! So, so boring. Boring characters, boring action sequences. I can't think of a single Heroes character I actually care about any more - especially since I never know what their bloody motivation is as it changes so often! In fact they should just kill them all off except Ando! With these new Lost episodes I'm constantly on the edge of my seat and eager for the next one. Heroes? Meh.

Good episode if you look at it without context

    by jor-el23

If you can try to forget all the bad from chapter 2 and 3 then it's not a half bad episode...sure the plotline SCREAMS of something they did in X-Men already...but as the review pointed out there have been too many side changes...now Claire's dad wants to round these people up? Now Suresh is one of the people being rounded up? And I realize this stuff happens in comic books but comic book writers have to churn out more than just 22 per year

    Fraking confusing

    by dr_pepper

That was just confusing. As mentioned characters are doing 180's and i'm left trying to figure out wth is going on. Just get to start to understand a character and then the carpet is pulled out. It would appear to me the writers are scurrying around in the background trying to address all the criticism they're catching, but doing it in a manner that leaves me confused and frustrated. Guys MAP SOMETHING OUT and stick with it. Changes in story and character direction just seem like knee jerk reactions. I hate Hiro now. He was a geek first season and they were building him up to be some bad ass brooding super hero. Now he's still just a bumbling geek boy. What's with that? Here's the problem - change their Powers any way you want. That's what comics about superheroes is about, but the underlying characters need to stay the same - well at least season to season and not show to show. If Nathan is going to do a 180 and totally turn on his Brothers, put some feeling behind it for God's sake. Maybe someone with Powers kills one of his kids by mistake or something or he's horribly disfigured, but to turn him based on what???? Makes no sense. And what - he lets Claire go so she can conveniently hop on a plane??? Weak, Weak, Weak, Weak. I'm just about done with this. Will see what happens after ep 19. Thank goodness for Supernatural, Fringe, Lost

    by _maltheus_

He needs to use the time travel thing one more time (if anyone even has that power anymore) and bring the show back to the S1 finale to do it right. Although I guess that wouldn't undo some of the stupid rules they've set up, like Claires blood healing others and Sylar's evil being a byproduct of his power. But....aw hell, nevermind. Twelve is less than twenty-two.These talkbacks are so sad, filled with people admitting they have nothing better to do than criticize a show they claim they don't watch any more. Just recycling the same things they've read here for years. "Oh, Heroes does time travel badly." Well, so? There was No time travel in this episode and the one character who has control over time as a superpower has... lost his power. Next complaint? Some actress I'll never meet isn;t hot/is short, boo hoo. Yeesh, frankly, I don;t like Pantyarea's choice of lipstick, but she's trying to look more "grown up" and get away from being "the cheerleader", apparently.Fact is, I watched the show last night and came away with the impression that i enjoyed it. then I came here and nothing the naysayers, amateur critics and h8ters had to say actually dealt with the episode details specifically enough to convince me that I didn't or shouldn't have. Now a half dozen geeks will call me an apologist or a defender of crap and criticize my taste. But I watched a show I enjoyed and either you watched a show you hate or, worse, have to shoot your mouth off about a show you don't watch. Either way, I had a better time than you did, so pity yourself, because I don't.

was right. And unless Claire learns some kick-ass martial arts or gets some serious AKA firepower her power is practically useless in a fight. I still watch because I love sci-fi in basically any flavor, even bad sci-fi, so I get it where I can. Heroes fell out of the plane at the end of season one when they were too cheap for a proper smack-down between Syler and Peter that everyone was expecting and that all super-hero moves have delivered since the invention of the genre, and they never recovered from the backlash. Smallville has better Special Effects than Heroes.

Great Geek Shout Outs on Chuck

    by mel gibsteinberg

Chuck had the "IG-88" grenade last night, nice little Empire shout out. Plus Dominic M. basically playing a suped up version of his Charlie character from LOST, just with a little more cockney.

Look, Chuck is simplistic, its over the top, its ridiculous, but its fun. If I want some show with deep mythology, a twisty turny plot, and excellent characterization, I'll turn into LOST and BSG. But there are only so many "mythology heavy" shows I can take.

One of the principle complaints about Heroes is that the whole time travel thing was terribly handled, and I remember hearing many say, "You can't do time travel in a show because it gets too confusing/convoluted/etc". Then Lost goes for broke with a whole time travel SEASON, and it's already better than anything Heroes has done with time travel in 3 seasons, including "Five Years Gone". Heroes has been pimp smacked. I'm going to wait until 3x19 and then read up a summary and see if Fuller can revive this grotesque Frankenstein of a show. Still don't know how Daisies got shafted and this pile of shit is still chugging along with no hope in sight.

How Claire could use her power as a weapon:

    by stlost

Note: I haven't watched the new episode of Heroes.
Seems like Claire would have a problem in a fight, just because she's a smaller girl and her only superpower is healing. But she could do this: If they are fighting in a building (like the roof or higher floor) she could take the person she is fighting for a ride out the window. They go splat on the ground, but Claire gets up. That would be cool.

This is the first episode I'd out and out call 'dumb'. The first half of season 2 was poorly plotted, betrayed most of the characters' established personalities, and made innumerable other mistakes, but it wasn't stupid. This was stupid. Herc's previously-talkbacked 'put the power absorption guy with the other supers', the 'Peter can fly but desperately tries to cling to the plane' thing, and about that plane...since when does a prop plane (even a cargo plane) crash because there's a hole in the side? The big bombers in WWII had holes all over for gun portals and whatnot, flew just fine. Let's not even get into a huge prop cargo plane reaching an altitude where explosive decompression is an issue. DUMB DUMB DUMB. It's going to be a long walk till 3.19.

The first two seasons of Heroes were mediocre. Season one finally got going after a few weeks but the finale was one of the worst I've ever seen. I almost didn't tune in for season two, but I did. And it was the same mediocrity of script and direction. Season three part one was great! Someone tell me what sucked about it? What?--the heroes actually had powers and used them? The awsome bad guy was concentrated on and you don't like that because you like boring shit? Seriously, tell me what was bad? Last night's premiere was great, too. They've finally found their voice. What the fuck is wrong with you people?

    Peter's Power in the end...

    by spice-orange

i think its clear that his power HAS changed. he can only do one thing at a time, and even if he COULD fly, the pressure difference could have killed him- sucked out of the plane into an engine or something. besides, peter is a hero and didnt want to leave his friends. its clear that he's not quite sure what ability he has, and was freaked out that he got ice powers.

I hate that peter is a sucker for his brother EVERY ep, but thats his character. we all have friends like peter, dont we?

yeah, its cheesy and silly, but whatever. its fun. better than reality TV.

i dont get the whole Chuck thing. i watched it once, and i dont like any of the actors. the hot chick sounds hotter in interviews because shes an Aussie... why americanize her?? lame show, i dont get the "Geek" love that it gets from you guys.

Seriously, although I think most of the actors are good, the writing isn't. And much as I love Claire, I watch this show like Ignatius Reilly, basically just to heckle it. I can't help myself.

I don't totally quit watching because there are good moments here and there. It will never actually be good until they quit ripping off storylines that were already tired in the X-Men, and are super tired now.

But, watching it and calling out comments, I guess it is like Mystery Science Theater as well, the show provides some entertainment.

Totally agree with the poster who said Heroes jumped the shark when they decided to make Sylar the Fonz.

You know when I really loved Heroes? When Claire had to save her family from Radioactive Man. That was awesome. It has never been so good again.

"The Ando-cycle is a chick magnet"

    by scotth

I don't normally post on the talkbacks, but I felt compelled to for this one. I fear that Heroes will become one of those shows that is maligned even when it's good.

I just watched the episode, and I thought it was great. I mean what you have to remember about it is that it's basically a second pilot. A viewer could watch the volume 4 pilot without ever worrying about volumes 2 and 3. The thing about pilot episodes are that they're never stand-out amazing. They can never be, because the bulk of a pilot episode revolves around exposition, introducing characters and scene-setting. At best, a pilot should leave you wanting more. It should make you want to watch the next episode to see where the story arc is going. And (for me), it was successful. Guantanamo-mutants notwithstanding, we're back to character-driven stories, but not in a boring season 2 way. It's all logical for a start; powerless Hiro re-invents himself as Abraham Whistler to live vicariously through his former sidekick, Claire gets a GED because she spent two volumes never going to school, Parkman is now a self-employed bodyguard because he never went to work for a year etc.

Even with regards to the writing, they fixed a lot of the story logic. e.g. by eradicating time-travel, the writers will never need to answer the question of why Peter never tries to rescue Caitlin, by giving Peter the "one power at a time" caveat, we'll never get season 2 scenarios such as "why doesn't he just phase through the vault door?", or by giving Sylar a motivation other than acquiring power, they have given him a way to stay on the show without explaining why he doesn't just hunt everyone. I could go on, but the post is getting longer than I wanted.

PS: RE Herc's post about putting Peter on a plane full of other mutants: He was drugged and asleep, with no logical method of becoming not-drugged. He wasn't a threat.

PPS: RE valiens' post asking what was wrong with volume 3: IMO, Volume 3 was a mean-spirited response to season 2 criticisms. The fans complained that the character-driven storytelling was boring (characterisation isn't boring on its own, but it is when you introduce a load of boring characters). Anyway, in an attempt to counter this, volume 3 became an endless succession of plot points, where everything happens but there isn't enough time for any emotional resonance. Characters seemingly changed personalities within 40 minutes, when (if spanned over several episodes) a lot of the story points could have made sense.

I'm gone. This is by far one of the dumbest, most poorly written and acted episodes I've seen in a long while. Apparently in this universe every single government agent is grossly incompetenet. One of them just got his face kicked in by a teenage girl in shackles. So nobody trains for close combat anymore? And why use stunners on Sylar? If there's anyone out there that requires deadly force its Sylar. And the less of that cheerleader the better. Sorry sweetie, the only actor who can act with his jaw is Clint Eastwood and you are no Clint Eastwood.

    by assassinwithson

The voice overs in New York were fucking awful and there were at least 3 continuity errors throughout the whole episode. _Maltheus_, not only was the plane depressurizing too long but it was still doing it right before it crashed only a hundred or so feet from the ground. What a fucking joke this episode was! Did anybody else laugh when the next week promo said, "It started with an intense plane crash!" They should have cut in the plane crash from US MARSHALS just photo shopping peter's face onto Wesley Snipes' body. It wouldn't have been as embarrassing as the rest of the episode.

Is there anyone here over 18? Look, the show ended with a plane crash on the eve of the 60th anniversary of "the Day The Music Died" - the death of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper. And none of you children can think of a plane crash reference earlier than some TV show you saw last Wednesday? Really? Go read a music history book or listen to the oldies station of something. man, when I was your age rock'n'roll was important to us. And comic books were fun escapist entertainment about adolescent power fantasies and we didn't expect them to be cutting edge literature. The Flash hid his costume wadded up in his ring, for fucks sake.

lately you don't seem to actually be paying full attention to the shows you're writing about. Nathan doesn't know Peter can absorb powers. when Nate asked him what he can do now, Pete only led him to believe he can fly. Thus Nate didn't take those extra precautions.

Until now, honestly this episode was just bad. Nothing really compelling at all. nathan Patreli when from normal to douchebag in zero point three seconds... Peter, who can fly, desparately trying to not get sucked out of a plane was really bad.

I think the reason I didn't mind how bad it had gotten at first was because I never really got that investeed in it in the first place, and the bad episodes were still entertaining...now they might as well just have a guy come on screen and tell the audience they are morons for an hour because that's pretty much the effect we are now getting.

    Speedy Blondzales...

    by _maltheus_

...is actually not all that bad. It's just that's she's being dragged down by Parkman. Just because his power is fundamentally corrupting, doesn't mean that he should shit all over her power. I think a common complaint of this show is that no real people would be so down on having super powers ('cept for copycat, who they ditched). At least Speedy seems to appreciate hers. Next to the stupidity of the characters, the second worse thing about the show is that they can't appreciate what I would give my left nut for. Or don't even use the powers like they should. Also, what was with all of the pitch black scenes? I was hardly able to see anyone half the time. They need a character like Lightbulb Boy or something so that I can see what's going on.

Okay, so now Peter Petrelli has the exact power of Rogue, the old Dazzler villain: absorb other people's powers through touch. but unlike syler, he can only hold onto one power at a time. he touched Ice queen and absorbed her freezing ability, which cost him his super strength and nearly lost him the fight. Then he accidentally froze part of the planes hull and it shattered. Someone unidentified - how do we know it wasn't Copycat? - got sucked out. Peter nearly got sucked out but the plane crashed first. People ask why didn;t he just fly away. Because he can only hang on to one absorbed power at a time - oh sure, he could have froze the air around him, a lot of good that would do, unless he was Iceman from Spider-Man's Amazing Friends. When characters on Heroes start forming ice bridges and ice slides out of thin air, that's when I stop watching.

I still like to watch the show but the stupid crap that the writers are doing seems like an insult to my intelligence. If Nathan is going to be the Big Brother government badass, keep him that way!! But he will need to be killed off or become an arch-villian type character. And Hiro is just a stupid character without his powers. The writers should have come up with a better solution to the time-travel issue other than completely taking away his powers (even if its just temporary.)

    Question

    by billypilgrimisunstuck

no one in the writer room stopped and said, "Hey guys. Look. We're actually here because of Lost. Other networks saw how multi-character archs and serialized dramas with a hint of mystery in it can work, so NBC gave the guy from Teen Wolf a chance to develop it. We owe them that much without completely ripping them off. So why do a plane crash? One of the narrative landmarks of Lost IS THAT PLANE CRASH. So shouldn't we find another vehicle that will prevent the inevitable comparisons thus avoiding the heat that our fans are throwing at us?"

Oh oh oh oh oh - and Ando didn;t want to wear his superhero costume and thought it was stupid becasue it was made out of yellow spandex and Wolverine made a joke about yellow spandex costumes in the first X-Men movie, so Heroes is ripping off X-Men!And Supergirl was a girl and she had blonde hair, and so does Claire, so Heroes is ripping off Supergirl! And Heroes is on NBC so it's ripping off I-Spy and The Dick Van Dyke Show because they were on NBC first. And Heroes is on Mondays at 9:00 PM so they're totally ripping off Designing Women and Ally McBeal and Murphy Brown! Also, most of the characters speak English, so they're totally stealing that idea from Shakespeare, and a lot of the characters have parents, just like in The Bible! What a rip off!!!Instead of borrowing from 70 years of comic book history, Heroes should be about about a species of alien creatures that has five sexes and speak a language no one has ever heard and the main characters whould have powers and abilities so unusual and different from anything we've ever seen or imagined before that they'd be totally incomprehensible to the audience. wow, wouldn't that blow peoples minds! See, if they can't be completely original like that, then why bother, what are they trying to prove, that they can fill an hour of broadcast network time and sell some advertising space for revenue?

    by lane_myers111

There are quite a few shows that never jumped the shark. However jumping the shark really refers to a moment that was so unbelievably stupid that it showed that the writers were completly desperate to try and boost ratings. Doesnt really refer to a small drop in quality. Seinfeld never dropped in quality and i personally find the 8th and 9th series the funniest as they started to parady themselves and get more surreal. Frasier, friends,King Of Queens and the British version of the office never really dropped in quality and if they did they were still funny until the end.Boston Legal,DS9 and Star Trek the Next Generation were good until the end if your a fan of those shows. There are others im sure. There is a difference between jumping the shark and a slight drop in quality from earlier episodes.

You don't know that Pete's power has changed...

    by thewarden

There's no evidence of that in the show. People are just inferring that.

Since we are inferring, here's what I think happened: Pete's learned to control his ability and can essentially turn off his ability to mimic those around him. We saw early on in the show that he mimiced just by being around someone, but we also saw that he had to work to get Sylar's power in near the beginning of this season (when Pete and Sylar met in the future...and Sylar's son was killed during the fight with Daphne, Claire, et al.).

So, when he gets de-drugged on the plane, he thinks he can be selective and get Mohinder's power (by touching Mo) since that's the one he needed, or he could open himself to everyone on the plane, and get a whole bunch of unknown powers. He doesn't want to do the latter since he might get something he can't control and do something dumb like freeze a hole in the hull of the plane (or blow up a city). But, he can't not get someone's power when he touches them so that's why he takes Nikki2's power.

He doesn't try to fly out of the plane for a couple possible reasons: 1. That would be incredibly stupid if engines are behind him and he gets sucked in to them. Pete doesn't know what type of plane he's on. 2. He panics and doesn't think about flying. The whole getting blown out of a plane clouds his judgement.

You're right about King of Queens never dropping in quality. It was at zero from the beginning and as we all know, nothing from nothing leaves nothing. And Seinfeld absolutely sucked the past few seasons. Did a total nosedive like the Simpsons did years ago. It's so sad. As for Heroes, I laughed when the masked guy was sucked from the plane. This show is so stuck on never killing anyone (or at least leaving them dead) that when they do let someone die it's obviously no one we know. He might as well have been wearing a red shirt.

If you enjoyed the first 6 or 7 seasons of Seinfeld i cannot understand you hating the last two. Can understand some people maybe not liking King of Queens as it is a very straight forward conventional sitcom format. There actually is evidence that Pete's power has changed. He accidently touched frozen chick, and there was a visual that he absorbed her power. Then when the guard started beating on him, he was genuinely surprised, as he was that he absorbed the freeze powers. He very clearly absorbs by touch, and loses the prior power when he absorbs the new one....in my mind, the only remaining question is whether the person he takes powers from loses it while Pete has it, or if they both keep power.

    by haggardatbest

I have a rotating list. At any point the top 3 could include any of the follwing: Arrested Development, The Simpsons, The Andy Griffith Show, Seinfeld, The Office (BBC), The Larry Sanders Show, among many others. If I am in a particularly silly mood I could list Three's Company and Get a Life. And right now I am deeply in love with Flight of the Conchords. And I agree I shouldn't have said the last years of Seinfeld sucked, because they were still funnier than 93 1/2% of TV comedies, but in comparison to the Larry David years there was a clear drop in quality. I admit the show didn't outright suck, but earlier seasons were much better. Seems to be the case with nearly everything.

I haven't seen it, but have a question? Did Hiro lose his power? If so, what power does he have now? If he lost his time travel power, how will they explain him being a time travel bad-ass samurai that visits Peter in season 1?

    Breasty McFreckles...

    by bill brasky

Take her from '24' (or maybe I should have used *24* instead of '24'...because we all know that * is the new ') but I digress...Hmmmmmm....yes. I would like to "stick the 7" into the computer" as Prince used to say, with Agent McFreckles. Hot, Hot, Hot!!!!Heroes was refreshingly good the other night. Maybe that's because it has been so bad over the last Season and a half. I honestly would have loved to see that plane crash and only a handful of the ' er *heroes* survive. You know, kind of like in a *real* plane crash. I liked the unmasked, chair-bound victim flying out of the hole in the plane...I wish many more would have died, with only a handful remaining. HRG needs to take the dirtnap...So does Mohinder. I'll keep watching.

...not saying he can't absorb by touch now. But, there's no evidence that he lost either the strength power when he got Nikki2's power. Just because it surprised him and the guard knocked him down doesn't mean he isn't strong still. Being stronger than someone doesn't they can't hurt you or surprise you. I'm a lot stronger than my 4yr old, but if he hits me in the back of the head with a baseball bat, it'll still hurt a lot :-)

Sticking with it for a LITTLE longer

    by ides

At least to give Bryan Fuller a shot. This show needs a guiding voice. Last night's episode was mostly okay, but then the whole plane crash thing was stupidly staged. Peter freaking out was ridiculous when he can fly. And they're in a military cargo plane, not an airlock on Galactica.

    Peter's ability

    by officerjunior

In "dual" the syrum allowed Pete to fly with no absorbing from nathan. In Mondays ep. he seemed to gather ability through touch, wtf? did the syrum give Pete the power of flight or was he just near Nathan and borrowed the abilities, I'm sure they'll hash it out eventually. Or pull a "katlyn" and never mention it again.

    I actually liked this episode.

    by fanboy71

Yeah, there were some bonehead things in it, but it was WAY better than the start of the season. I gave up after the second or thrid episode of this season, and hadn't watched since, but tune into this one because I liked the idea of them being hunted down. I was confused about Peter's powers as well, and I think they should go back to him being all powerful. He never seemed to be able to do much, but if the writers were to make him inot the badass of the team, this show could be much better. Every group of super heroes needs a Superman. That should be Peter.

Best damn salesman in the office! Also, you're right about what should happen with the crash. It would be a nice way to get rid of a lot of dead weight (Suresh, Claire, etc) in one fell swoop. I am pretty happy that they are setting Ando up to be the guy who saves everyone, but I'm sure halfway through the arc they will drop that idea altogether and have him spend the rest of the season reading letters. Again.

"Done with this show": Let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.Oh, and how come no one mentioned that this episode, all about rebooting the series and making it more mainstream superheroish - that they finaly put everyone in costume? Okay, not Ando's yellow spandex tights. (Where the hell did Hiro come up with those - and that design - anyway? No, the Heroes were all in costume: in fact, the same costume the villain from Unbreakable wore, remember? And if you think a group of people wearing baggy jumpsuits and surviving a crash is an odd way to reboot a series, or that the baggy coveralls are an odd team costume... go reread Fantastic Four number one. C'mon, you must have a reprint around somewhere, right?

Now I've stuck by the show and continue to enjoy it, however, they need to tell that actress to chill with the overacting. She's laughable, and it was more so evident with this past episode...damn

And then a depressing return to mediocrity. Walter was shafted with screen time again and God forbid our heroes actually be menaced by the porcupine monster!

And yes, Angel never "JTS" unless you count season 4.

The problem with Heroes is evidenced by the thread

    by itchy

Everyone on here is a dedicated geek and obviously watches and presumably wants to enjoy Heroes ... yet no one can even say for sure whether or not one of the show's main characters can fly. Why ? Because no one knows what the fuck is going on, because the piece of shit writing staff and show runners change directions with no explanation and no logic every three episodes. It's fucking ridiculous. I really don't think they can save this show - it's just too fucked.

What powers should be brought in?

    by lane_myers111

Im intrigued by people who are saying that they think several characters should be killed off. Agree with this to a certain extent as i am fed up with Claire and Suresh as well. However what abilities do you think would be great to watch and benefit the show. Of course its the human element and scripts that are a huge part of the show but its the powers and the action we all love. Theyve already ditched Invisibility,Persuasion,Phasing,Nuclear Generation,Blackholes and Illusion creation. Those were all great characters and powers that they just ditched. Over the decades, comic books have used nearly every power you can think of. Which ones would you bring to the show? or can you think of any others? Serious answers would be great..Joke answers expected like The Power to nuke a fridge.

    A solution?

    by haggardatbest

This is just my opinion and I'm sure there are huge flaws in it, but... For me as a fan I would love it if they would stop killing characters only for a loophole to pop up to allow them to live. Once or twice is fine, but for a while it happened in nearly every episode. I don't mind if main characters are killed. As a matter of fact I kind of like it, but it doesn't mean anything anymore. Secondly I don't think there necessarily needs to be one main goal for them as a group. I'd kind of like to see Peter as a paramedic with powers for a while, or Parkman and his (smoking hot) new girl as a couple dealing with their powers and their jobs. The new arc shows more promise than "Villains" but there's a long way to go. And yeah, Claire needs to go ASAP. They got rid of my man Claude but the human puppy stays because the pedos like her? Please.

Chuck is great stop the hate REALLY

    by bugdoc

I love Chuck. Those that have not given it a chance should give it a look for one or two episodes. If for nothing else, the BUY MORE stuff is funny and some of the geek speak is very, very good. On the other hand, Heroes is done around my house. I gave it a fair shot but finally gave up on it. The characters are 1D at best and do RETARDED things to move the cliched plot forward. I don't think Fuller or anyone else will save it.NBC should tank it and give Chuck the budget. Now that is some intelligent programming. I love Chuck and if it goes away....well, I will always have the DVDs. Unlike Heroes which I have no interest in seeing ever again. Nice start.....poor execution.........period.

    Chuck is (sometimes) great

    by oisin5199

I love Chuck! Far more entertaining than Heroes. However, I do agree with Herc that this past Monday's episode was extremely mediocre, and the 3D thing was a complete waste of time, like something they just threw on last minute as a promotional thing, but had no idea that particular episode would be 3D. The 3D Medium episode was waaay better. Hope that weak episode was just a hiccup in an otherwise stellar season.

    by chromedome

And then start from there again--but do it RIGHT this time. No whimpering simpering hiding heroes, no "must get on cheer squad" BS--Show us Heroes/Characters that recognize and embrace their powers even if not fully understanding them, do something EPIC.The only way to save this show is to NEGATE everything since Kirby Plaza.

    action in heroes?

    by wixmmm

whoever said the action in heroes is better than the action on chuck must be tripping on acid, mushrooms whilst smoking crack and railing cocaine. Heroes has never had a single action sequence that lasted enough time to call it an action sequence. You know you're getting action with chuck which involves casey and sarah doing their spy thing, but with chuck as the x factor. chuck actually has action scenes. heroes does not. period.

E! Online: It was Kristen Bell's choice to leave the show.

    by pennsy

http://tinyurl.com/cayrxz. Still, KB's total on-the-record silence re: how she felt about the way Elle left the series is borderline deafening. It may lend cred to the belief something happened near the end that really soured her on continuing with the show. And that's even IF her movie schedule allowed her to come back sometime in season 4. Namely BTW, Sylar, here's your son.

Pennsy, weren't Bell & Quinto dating last season

    by big jim

and now she's dating Dax Shepard? Maybe her reason for leaving the show had less to do with the show itself and more to do with working with an ex.However, the way they killed off her character did seem spiteful. This is Heroes where most every recurring character that has been killed has be resurrected in some way. But Sylar, after killing Elle, conveniently finds a tin of lighter fluid on the beach and torches her corpse, making the possibility of her return less than likely. But, then again, this is Heroes, where the most ridiculous of explanations is good enough for the writers (ex. Niki is a clone). I'm hoping for her return as an evil twin or coming from an alternate timeline.

    Yeesh

    by haggardatbest

What's the point of getting so into the reason behind someone leaving a show? Dude, most people like Kristen Bell, she's very likable and fun to watch, but her run was always supposed to be limited on Heroes. If I remember correctly it was only supposed to be a handful of episodes last season, so she stayed longer than expected anyway. Killing characters and leaving them dead is exactly what this show needs. As far as the celebrity worship and wondering if your favorite actress was wronged by a studio, I can only quote the immortal words of the great Steve Langford: "Who gives a shit, who gives a fuck?"

    by chromedome

during Alias? they broke up, she became a co-producer, and they killed his ass hard! Was brutal and transparently vengeful. So much so, that it made her look bad, so they "resurrected" him down the road: "faked his death to protect him, hiding in a Tibetan Monastery" bs.No chance for KBell, though, since Heroes already looks so bad, they have bigger problems. I think she is well rid of it. Sinking ship.

Didn't Peter strand some Irish chick in the future...

    by det. john kimble

Back in Season 2. Is her ever gonna go save her ass? Or is she just more dogshit on the growing pile? By the way, if anyone is holding the idiot ball it's the writers, who are clinging to it just to have something, ANYTHING to hold on to.

This is from a story that was here back in November' When the fan asked if Peter would ever acknowledge Caitlin or express any grief over what seems to be her dire fate, Kring replied, "No, we passed it. We leapfrogged it." He added that when the idea of returning to Caitlin was brought up, they asked, "Really? Are we going to risk that? We have enough stuff to [deal with]."
