Kung Fu Panda Is Better Than Up

    by filegumbo

A talking panda that knows kung fu vs. a house that floats by balloons. The choice is clear. Plus, Up is just a veiled political commentary on racism and consumerist culture whereas Kung Fu Panda is just fun.

    No,

    by cool_britannia79

If anything, Kung Fu Panda is the story about racism and consumerism. Everyone knows Panda's can't do kung-Fu, especially one's addicted to food...

    i have to say...

    by maxwell's hammer

...that I agree with ShiftyEyedDog2. Even though we've seen a grand total of about 90 seconds worth of footage from what will probably be a 90 minute feature, I think we can all definitively agree that this film's poor quality is a foregone conclusion.

    by shiftyeyeddog2

so people can say how great something looks after viewing 90 seconds, but you can't say something doesnt look so impressive after seeing just 90 seconds? double standard there, my friend....and i do hope its good. just not impressed by anything so far. not a laugh to be found in the trailer.

    Shifty...

    by jerseycajun

It's a trailer for a film. It doesn't have to make me laugh. It only has to make me curious enough to want to see it. If it didn't do that for you, fine. But getting me to laugh isn't the only way to get the average person to want to see a film, as all films are not primarily comedies, though as I understand from early unfinished screenings there are laughs in the film. Pixar films aren't necessarily comedies first. There are, you know, actual dramatic/thematic elements to them 'n such that aren't easily encapsulated in trailers, which is why, I think, people often say their trailers don't let on to how good the end result often is. Actually, when I think about it, most trailers are crap, and even the good ones only succeed in fooling the audience that there was an actual good film behind it. The only exception I can think of lately was "The Dark Knight", where the trailer both succeeded at doing its job and had a worthy film backing it up.

    I'm hooked

    by jt kirk

From that line where Ed Asner... I mean, whatever the fuck his character's name is, tells the kid "no!" on the porch, that shit has me rolling. Fucking awesome deadpan, the original teaser ran that pause longer and I was dying the whole time. This new teaser didn't tell us jack squat though, 1 new gag with the GPS (which was cute, kinda weak gag normally, but here they have top notch execution on it at least). I'm hoping/assuming this is kinda like the Wall-e teasers where you didn't see anything but the character doing a few things, and once the final trailer came out (which I saw thanks to AICN, seems like the site's only good for Pixar coverage these days) it blew my mind in every conceivable direction, and the movie lived right up to that. So I expect the same shit from "Up", and I doubt Pixar will let me "down". Fucking easiest joke in the world, now I own it, every critic in the country is gonna have to pay me a sweet nickel when they steal it.

Disney makes you watch ADs before other ADs now?

    by drath

Fucking hell do I care about Hannah Montanna or the fucking plush toy? That's it! I will not look for any more fucking trailers, I don't care how cute or inventive it might be! This whole fucked up system is the reverse of what it should be. They don't make me want to see fucking ADs, they show me ADs to make me want to watch a movie. The ADs are not product. Fucking assclowns!
