what's the big deal? personally I like them.....had no issue with the Flames on Prime either....the original design was boring- a red and blue Semi? at least the film version had Character and most importantly they got the voice right...

The colorful cars make it look more Transformerish. In the first movie the yellow car and the truck optimus guy were the only ones that really stood out. This will also sell more action figures to the kiddies.

It's all to make the budget cheaper. If a car company is willing to let a movie use a $500,000 prototype car then that's a hella lotta savings. Although they are mostly GM, there is also an Audi, Ford Mustang etc.

You know I just don't get the haters. I watched the cartoon back when it originally ran, recorded many of those episodes to betamax and rewatched the mass fuck outta them, was there on opening day to watch the original cartoon movie.
I was upset over the departure from the G1 tv shows design's shortly before the film came out, but even I had to face facts.
Did we really want a Megatron that transformed from a fucking handgun into the same size robot that a mac truck does... Did flame decals really ruin the overall Optimus look, was it sacrilege that bumble bee wasn't a VWB, was it so bad that there was no energon and energon cubes to fight over....
No, in the end none of these changes ruined the movie for me. It's, it's own take from the source a more rationalized one at that. There's a lot going on, I was entertained. The toys are back, the kids are really into them. Megatron's real voice is dead, Optimus came back with his voice intact. Witwicky is still in it.
I dig the movie, it's great escapism, a good ride. You haters need to move on or something... This design choice obviously saved time it's one less animation rig to build and set up animation and morph behaviors for. theres like 30 fucking TF's in this flick. I just hope it's like the first early treatment I read online if it is it will be the film empire strikes back. -

Seriously...they weren't like that in the cartoon from what I remember. They were solemn and noble and even if they cut it up a little bit, it was never a direct reflection of any youth culture of the time. They were fucking giant robotic aliens...not cutsey animals all tweaked into anthropomorphic actions.I can deal with practically all the other Bay-shit but this fucking mandate that there simply has to be hip and kewl "thug life" wannabe gangster bullshit in giant robotic alien lifeforms is just unreasonable bullshit. How or fucking why would they EVER under any circumstance adopt that language and culture for their own? I mean if they said "We learned to speak English by watching Fresh Prince and listening to Fiddycent mp3s!" at least it would be honestly trying to shove dumbassness onto us but by just all of the sudden being all hip and kewl and street cred just makes my asshole pucker.May as well have them wearing droopy pants hanging off their hips with their boxers showing. Why not cowboy hats? Why not have them wearing US football jersey's and baseball caps turned backwards? What other American youth bullshit are they gonna cop next? Texting their friends? Getting together to watch American Idol?I'm not a hater either but this is going in the wrong direction from the previous film. It was only one Autobot who was excruciatingly annoying with the "This looks like a cool place to kick it!" bullshit. It forcefully SLAMS me out of the movie and into this "Why is this giant alien robot talking like Yo MTV raps?" and how is it grown ups allowed this to happen? Seriously, all the other shit...Sector 7 and the blasphemy of dissing The Jesus, flames, shia lapoof, camaro vs bug, Megan Fox's boobs, etc...I either like or can deal with all of it but this lingo and youth culture mimicry just screams ASS.

Since when did they say they were remaking the cartoon? They said they were making a Transformers adaptation! Transformers were simply Toys that were two items in one from a basic transformation. The Marvel comics and the Cartoon series that were adaptations of that toy, followed their own stories and designs in order to merchandise the product. Your blessed cartoon was just an adaptation as was all the other cartoons that followed it and the comics too. This live action movie is just another adaptation exactly on equal terms as those cartoons and comics. It's not a rehash or remake of anything you simply can't get over from the 80's! That stuff was firmly set and made for that time. This film is firmly set and made for THIS TIME! The various elements of all the Transformer legacy are homaged and re-imagined when and if they feel its adequate to do so. Stop moaning about your past, comparing it with stuff it's not trying to emulate and either move on, grow up or BOTH! Your children are probably more astute, aware and understanding than you are, and that's a shame!

I believe it was Vern in his brilliant review of the first film who noted that every action scene in that movie felt like a giant ball of crushed aluminum cans rolling down a hill. My first thought was of the Wonder Twins but when Poochy was mention, that was all I can take and I busted laughing. But it is true, there is nothing different with the “Twins” that we haven’t seen in the first. Now the big issue is if these to walking pile of twisted metal are going to be, skaters, thugs, emos, head bangers, retarded or Micky’s favorite characters “token black guys.” I go for a bit of the skater, with a sprinkle of thug and a stewed in “token black guys.” Micky might go for a quarter retarded, coz we all know you don’t wanna go full retard. Frankly I don’t give a shit about the movie any more. Yes, I watched the originals just like many of you. And yes, I was hoping for an updated version. No, not a fucking direct translation, becoz that is just stupid but as least something that resembled the originals. The whole premise is about an alien race of sentient giant robots that can transform and are in the mist of a civil war. Now tell me, where the FUCK can you see ANY logic in that story line? So, I wasn’t expecting any fucking masterpiece, but damn! I would at least like some kind of sensible albeit silly story line that is by some stretch of the imagination possible if you are using “logic,” as Micky has stated before. He did say that he didn’t want giant robots transforming into tiny things like a, oh let’s say a hand gun and a cassette recorder. Yet, we see a fucking cube that is a good 2-3 stories high turn into a cube the size of a fucking basketball. And then the 3 foot tall walking strap metal that was suppose to be Frenzy turn in to a fucking cell phone. Logic was NEVR going to be used in this movie so I don’t know why Micky even tried and they went back on it. Fuck, if that was the case I would have loved to have seen Sound Wave and the cassettes. So like last time, I’m not pay to see a bunch of eye sore. I’ll just wait till a friend has it or has a bootleg to rip into it. So in closing . . Fuck Bay! Let the bitching continue!!!
