The triple crown of firsts is complete!

God that premise sounds so sexist! A woman gets power and so she MUST be a threat to society and thus must be destroyed? Okay, that's the plot of most monster movies, I'll admit. But those are ususually told from the freak's point of view.

Am I the only one who has a HUGE crush on Britanny Murphy?

Well, am I?

Nuff said.

Death Race 2000 is one film that actually deserves a remake. It had a weak budget and cast the first time around, and with Hanks attached,it'll have IDEAS. It might end up coming out too close to "Minority Report" and "Fahrenheit 451" though, meaning it'll get lost in the crowd of sci-fi with huge stars. "Pamela West" could be great with the right casting, awful with JLH or SMG.

Uh, Ms. Drath, if you think most monster movies are told from the freal's POV, you need an extended education in the genre. Incidentally, tho I've never read the story, I've read alot by Weinbaum. His heroines are usually strong-willed and sympathetic, often more competent than his heroes. In other words, he wasn't your basic E.R.Burroughs/Izzy Asimov sexist. And many sf stories revolve around people of either gender getting superpowers and becoming corrupted by it. If the monster in Ultimate were a man, would you complain, sight unseen, that it was sexist because it had a MAN wielding such power? No, you're a sensible person. You would wait til reviews or detailed synopses made it clear that the storyline somehow snubbed or disparaged women in the process. Kindly suspend judgement until you know more of the film.

Big T here. Quick note to everyone who might be cringing about this movie I will tell you this the skit is absolutely hysterical and Tim Meadows will not screw this up. The last SNL film done Night at the Roxbury is pretty good not Waynes World good but good. The people at SNL are getting their crap together. Oh and yes vader I think Lance in Scream 3 is hellacool. Big T out.

Wow this one came out of nowhere. I wonder who they'll get for Kerouac? Cassidy? Ginsburg? E.T.C?
I dont know about the other people in talkback but I find something VERY intresting in this recap. Nuff said. -

by hcaulfield
Yes I agree HCaulfield, good point. ++++
Thankyou :) -
Wait. So now DEATH RACE 3000 IS going to be a remake of DEATH RACE 2000? As the priest said in the whorehouse: "I'm confused." At first, I assumed the project was going to be a faithful remake of Paul Bartel's 1975 cult classic, in which five drivers race to California, gaining points by running over pedestrians (remember, the elderly count the most). Then I read an article in a magazine not too long ago that said the new film would have absolutely nothing to do with the original, except for the racing part. No mention about the carnage. So....? On another note, its great to see George Romero back with a new film. And Scorsese and De Niro reuniting...
