Cool News
Hrmm... Extensive reshoots for WOLVERINE... Is Fox financing it with some new glowy blue money, you think?
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Hot on the heels of news of a settlement in Fox's legal action against Warner Bros over WATCHMEN we get news (courtesy of the good folks at Collider) that massive reshoots are underway in Vancouver at the moment.
Not that that's totally unexpected. We heard nothing but nightmare stories about the initial round of photography. Gavin Hood had a rough time, let's just leave it at that.
But it seems that Hood is in charge of these extensive reshoots, so maybe there's some hope for the project. Gavin Hood's a good director and Jackman's great in the role, so I want this movie to work and if it takes a shitload of reshoots and Hood getting his way maybe they can save this project, which I had honestly written off.
What are your thoughts?

-
I have fingers crossed for this but ...
-
This movie looks horrific.....no number of reshoots can save the X-Men
-
so I'll give this movie a chance.
-
or are they gonna keep repainting the sets after he goes home?
-
Eveyone gets a piece, but no one gets a decent one.
-
I doubt it. I'm more worried that they'd change even more of what was good.
-
I hope that Wolverine is more of a reboot of the series than a continuation of the massively shit X-Men 3. I know it is obvious to all, but I want to say it anyway: The X-men could have been an AMAZING set of comic book movies that were constantly changing cast, crew and style because of the huge amount of back story and characters. They could have released a new movie every few years or so for the next 20 years and still had a massive archive of material to pull from.
-
I know it is a prequel, I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that. I mean in terms of style, tone and overall shitness.
-
when he decided to take everything brilliant about singer's first two x-men and watered it down to a special effects heavy mess. x-men had the potential to become one of the most prolific comic book movie series of all time and then ratner and batman begins/dark knight came along and ruined those chances. don't get me wrong, i'm not really a hard-core ratner hater. rush hour is a good enough movie, but the last two were awful (really roman polanksi?!!, you decide to get back into acting in ratner's rush hour 3!) i did enjoy after the sunset and red dragon is way better than ridley scott's hannibal (though manhunter is probably the second best lecter movie behind silence of the lambs.) anyway, sorry about the diatribe, i know this post had nothing to do with ratner. i'm still holding out hope for redemption of the x-men series because jackman is great as wolverine and liev schrieber is an incredible actor. i had the chance to see him in "talk radio" on broadway and he was incredible. this guy totally deserves more mainstream work. gavin hood is a good enough director, tsotsi and rendition were solid movies, but after seeing the lackluster trailer and now this news... i dunno if i'm as optimistic. however, that last scene in the trailer with wolverine flying from the car to the helicopter looked fucking amazing, so who the hell really knows until this thing comes out.
-
But I really want this to be a top notch film, Jackman OWNS this role.
-
Tis true.

Wolverine Reshoots??? They Are Rewriting The Whole Movie...
by media messiah
....all to make it more Hard in tone so it can compete critically with Watchmen. They are also going to make the film more epic and flashier. Do I have inside information??? No, it is just easy to predict. As I said in my posts over the last several weeks, Fox is worried about Watchmen competing with its X-Men Franchise and spin-offs, beginning with Wolverine. Wolverine as it stands, will be attacked by critics as being flimsy compared to Watchmen if Fox doesn't beef up the material all the way around.
-
...or a new Sabertooth. You know, one that actually LOOKS like Sabertooth? (Small point, I know - wanting a movie character to even vaguely resemble the original - but hey, I'm picky like that.)How about no more shots of vats, needles and Weapon X shit because, duh, WE DID THAT IN X2! Ah, fuck it. I want Alpha Flight - The Movie. Balls to this overfed cash cow...
-
but Tsotsi was great, so you never know.
-
"that last scene in the trailer with wolverine flying from the car to the helicopter looked fucking amazing."By 'amazing', you meant 'ridiculous', right?
-
yes, absolutely ridiculous, i give you that. still a cool effect, nonetheless. it was the only thing in the trailer that really caught my eye.

I actually thought the trailer looked fun...

In a stupid 80's Commando-style action flick kinda way.
-
This thing looks like a turkey. That publicity shot of Hugh Jackman growling while sitting in what looks like a hot tub pretty much illustrated how cheesy this movie was going to turn out to be.
-
I hope they salvage this movie - Jackman, Hood and the character deserve better.
-
The character he began in the first X-Men was kind of like Wolverine and by the time the unwatchable X3 hit he was outright just playing Cyclops. I love jackman as an actor but he doesnt have the natural edge of Wolverine nor does he have the quiet warriors spirit. ANd they can reshoot this all they want, it's still gonna be total crap.
-
For to long comic book fans would show up to any comic book based movie, no matter how good or bad. Studios got the idea that the die-hard superhero fans were a bunch of retards that would show up for anything, no matter how badly they butchered the source material. Hell, half the time they would praise a change as something as unfortunate by necessary, or come up with excuses as to why the studio couldn't stay true to the source material (I call this the Galactus Defense).
Maybe now after Iron Man and the Dark Knight, comic book fans realize that some studios and film-makers will stay true to the spirit of the comic, and also feel like they don't have to see anything starring a character from their favorite comic magazine. Maybe then studios will treat the genre with a little more respect instead of just a way to make a easy buck. -
They can't help themselves.

found that the movie had too many "real" elements in it and needed more CGI. "That's what kids want today," they said. "We need more CGI backdrops and physics-defying stunts. Also, Wolverine seems a little serious. Can you lighten him up a bit? Maybe give him a teenage sidekick?" These are the reshoots.

Hmmm. My first thought is "BOY." My Second one is "COTT."
by the tao of joe
20th Century Fox and all the Voldemort, Sauron, and Palpatine bastards that run the studio (namely Rothman) can go to hell. I am not watching a single genre or tent pole movie they make until Tom Rothman's head is on a proverbial pike-staff. I want that bastard rubbed out. All he ever did was cash in on the money Bill Mechanic earned for all the risks that didn't pay off until Mechanic was fired, sadly. Now that the Mechanic money is starting to dry up (i.e. Rothman has chased away all the talent that Mechanic nurtured), that studio is a lame duck. Avatar or no Avatar, if the 20th Century Fox logo is in front of a movie and Tom Rothman is still the head of that company, I won't be seeing it.
-
That would be the ultimate fuck you, me thinks!
-
Not saying you're an ignorant studio suit or anything, but that sort of "You'll all be watching it anyway!" rant is one I've seen many times before.
And shock and surprise, methinks it's no longer true.
I think there's plenty of people out there like myself who mean what we say, when we say we won't go see shit. Latest Punisher movie, for example. Even more so when it comes to television, because there's other things to do of an evening rather than sit in front of the gogglebox.
Hence the declining ratings of such once nerd-friendly shows like Heroes. -
from release and they are doing reshoots, I know reshoots are pretty common, but 4 months away they are? Shouldn't they be gearing up for marketing and test screenings? Possibably 2 new TV trailers (Super Bowl of course and Oscar night?), just seems strange
-
It's safe to say Rothman will be gone before the release of Avatar.

X3 was a big disappointment but X2 remains one of the most exciting and rich blockbusters of the decade. Hugh Jackman is genuinely likeable. Gavin Hood a fantastic choice as director. Remember, reshoots don't ALWAYS mean the finished movie is going to suck.

And massive re-shoots aren't a sign of high praise. Have to see the final product.

How about "no", and fill us in as to what happened. I've read things here and there but the full story would be nice. I'm rooting for this movie because Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is so good. I even went into X3 with an open mind because of the director horseshit and was pleasantly surprised. I actually enjoyed it more than the first one. Whatever needs to be done to make this movie better is fine by me. Is the release date set in stone?

more reason to boycott or just plain AVOID this flick. their final cut sicked and now they are using their greasy weasel money to go back and fix the stinker.well, even if they accomplish that on a basic level, be prepared to look for massive cotinuity and hair/costume/placemnt errors abound.even when they shoot a movie in one quick go they always slip up a bit, but with reshoots...ha ha, expect jackman to have sideburns in one scene, and none in the nex...shit like that.reshoots are like attaching wheels on the feet of a dead dog. you can roll it out into the living room and show your friends, you can even have people pay to see it, but it's still a dead dog.

He gets a lot of the flack for that piece of shit, but shouldn't at least some of the blame fall on Matthew Vaughn? How is the it that everyone thinks reshoots are a bad thing?
by general_mortimer
Look at Lord of the Rings, they cut the films, saw what didn't work and got the whole cast back to for a couple of months to craft and fine-tune the films into the epics we know today.
More films should have reshoots rather than taking the "Well, what we got sucks but oh well, shooting is over let's release it anyway and spend our money on overhyping it until people are sick of it!" attitude. -
You are completely right. The blame should not be on Rattner's door. Part of it should go to Fox who needed to say: 'hang on, this might be rubbish if we hurry it - let's wait until we find the right guy'. But given how tough it must have been to assemble that amazing cast, that would have been quite a decision.
-
He took the script Fox gave him and made a movie that looked like the other two movies. I blame the studio for wanting a quick turnaround on the film for more cash.
-
I am starting to think that Fox and the Wolverine movie are jinxed now. The trailer looked like a homoerotic advert for mens aftershave. "Wolverine pour homme" It just looked real duff. and gay. and i still havent bought into Jackman being Wolverine. Hes too polished and Hollywood jetset to be seen has a nasty rough savage feral Wolverine. A young Mel gibson would have nailed it. but hes too old for it. The closesr to the actual character would be an energetic Gerald Butler from "300" being a total anti social bastard. THAT is wolverine. Not a softy big girls blouse that is Jackman.
-
The first two X-Men movies weren't all that.
-
Is just awful.

a) the movie will be good. not to your exacting standards b) you won't boycott this movie. c)reshoots mean more action scenes! yay! d) ratner killed the series.

by leafar the lost
I suspect that FOX showed the finished movie to test audiences, and they told them it sucked. So now you have extensive reshoots. Its never a good sign. I bet $1.37 that this movie will not be shown to critics prior to it's release. FOX will hope for a big opening weekend, and then they will hope for more money in DVD's...the uncut, Director's version not shown in threaters, because it was too intense!

Every comment under the Youtube trailer is a bunch of X-men fanboys that think it looks great. Here, we got a bunch of X-men film snob fanbois that like to bitch and moan. What's the expression... don't get your panties in a bunch?
I don't think the trailer looks all that hot but it looks decent enough to get me a little excited to check out the movie and see for myself, probably will be going in blind with the review embargo and all lol. -
Fox loves their reshoots, don't they? The movie itself looks about on the same level as "Push." It's kind of cool to see Gambit and the Blob onscreen (although they completely missed the point of Deadpool), but either way, fuck em, the only way I'm seeing it is if I sneak into the theater.
-
...but 20-odd years ago, during his PLATOON-to-WILD AT HEART period, the only person I saw playing Logan was Willem Dafoe. He's short, rough around the edges (with cheekbones designed for the signature muttonchops), can be convincingly menacing and bad-ass, and had the perfect "bub" voice. And back then, they might have actually let him go berserk and tear motherfuckers to shreds. Instead, we have gruff-yet-cuddly and not-afraid-to-cry Prof. Logan, played by a 6-foot-plus musical theater actor who just looks ridiculous when he tries to look angry. Seriously, that shot of Jackman jumping up out of the adamantium tank or whatever it is in the trailer was roll-on-the-floor funny. He looked like James Frain after falling into a life-size Masters of the Universe Hordak Slime Pit.

The man is one of the best actors working today. By your logic Christopher Walken is a pussy too, he also started out as a musical theatre actor. This won't suck because of Jackman. It will suck because making it in the first place is a terrible idea.
-
Just call it WOLVERINE, dammit. Or WOLVERINE: ORIGIN if you have to, but have the sense to drop the X-MEN tag for the insanely stupid.
-
BUT with ENOUGH reshoots, restructuring, and creative control... gavin might be able to pull off something very good. normally, directors don't get to go back and correct mistakes. we. shall. see.
-
They reshot almost a third of that flick and it turned out to be a pretty handy thriller.
-
Good question. I'm not sure it was reshoots, but I know TITANIC went all over budget and schedule. Not saying it turned out a masterpiece, but it certainly wasn't the failure many predicted. Ditto Jaws. I know that in telly world, there is a brilliant drama from the 90s called OUR FRIENDS IN THE NORTH. They shot and edited the first episode, and then junked it and reshot the WHOLE DAMN THING. So it does happen. Also, we know that Sam Mendes junked the whole of his first week shooting American Beauty.
-
X3 made loads of money, but I think that was due to moviegoers expecting it to be as good as X2. Wolverine may suffer thanks to a half-assed Ratner film, regardless.
-
chunks of Punch Drunk Love was reshot. and that's a really, really good movie.
-
I mean the real wolverine suit, yellow and blue.....come on guys
-
But I'm still not going to see this, even if they did settle the watchmen dispute. Roth still said some pretty shitty stuff about the fans. "Forget them, we already have their money" or something to that extent. I will not pay to see a Fox movie this year. It's not a boycott, its just principle.

The trailer fort this looked terrible, like it was satire.
by orbots commander
I don't know, maybe Fox is going for camp with Wolverine. It actually resembled something that would have been parodied in the opening of Tropic Thunder. Anyway, the trailer brought to mind the worst aspects of Mission Impossible 2. From what I've read this is pretty much an unofficial Alan Smithee film, i.e. it was ghost directed by someone other than Gavid Hood.

-
schreiber's sabertooth, black/red color into gambit's eyes, and the actual character of deadpool onto ryan reynolds?
-
Hugh Jackman is a good actor - until he really has to emote. His emotional scenes are unsubtle and sometimes outright forced, which is what happens to actors who are used to projecting their feelings through dialogue and song to the back of an auditorium. Jackman's rise in film was quite sudden, and he hasn't had the opportunity to grow out of a lot of his 'theaterisms'. And, I just don't buy him as Wolverine. There's something missing from his characterization of Logan, and it's not his physicality or the writing. There's just nothing genuinely tough about him, and Wolverine needs to be exactly that. Of all the Marvel characters who need the Method treatment, it's Wolvie. The actor needs to make audiences feel the fucking rage. As much as I hate GLADIATOR as a film, Russell Crowe brought the rage to Maximus. Mel Gibson brought it to Mad Max and Martin Riggs. Jackman just doesn't have it.
-
Get Mel Gibson to both star in AND direct a Wolverine re-boot movie. Gibson still has the physicality and the rage. And since Wolverine is essentially a few hundred years old, Mel's age wouldn't be a problem. That would frackin' rock the house.
-
Wolverine has been pussified beyond all recognition anyway. No big loss.
-
But I think I'm going to wait to see what the general reaction to the film is before I decide whether or not to see it. If word of mouth is good, I pay for the ticket. If general opinion is that its a giant shit burger, I'll stay home. Until then, I won't try to prognosticate its triumph or its failures.
-
the title needing to be changed. i *really* hate how some studios think they need to dumb things down in order to attain recognition. spider-man 2 failed in that regard as well. oh well... there will always be TDK.
-
If it looks like "snikt", and it smells like "snikt"--Oh, come on. Someone had to do it.
-
It had logic holes you could drive a truck through. What the fuck was Nightcrawlers origin anyway? He remembers the tank and the base in Canada - did he get created there?! And one more time, lets look at the illogic of the end: Jean grey is inside the helicopter. A wall of water id about to drown them and the plane cant take off. Jean has to GO OUTSIDE THE PLANE to start the plane(!) and hold back the wall of water at the same time. She starts the engines, lifts the plane and lets go of the wall of water drowning herself. And there's no good reason AT ALL she could not have done it from inside the plane. Idiotic. Dont get me started on how they killed Cyclops (who was always a dick) and replaced him with Wolverine as the lover trying to save her at the end just so they could have a cool effect of his skin melting off and his healing power restoring it while he climbed to his doomed love. Wow. "I'm the Juggernaut - BITCH!" mmmmhmmmmmm. No real feeling of warm fuzzies about this project at all. (Well, to be fair - at least she wasn't showing movies in her stomach.)

Why would people act surprised that this looks like shit? Actually I disagree-- the Wolverine trailer has a shot far more interesting than anything in all three X-Men films-- that shot of the young Logan running toward the banister and craning up over him and down to his dead father I believe. That single shot is more powerful than anything this series has given me thus far. If you wanna see real X-Men-- watch the fucking Fox cartoon.

....but I'm saying as far as audio/visual medium. The cartoon worked for me. They were able to balance a team structure where everyone seemed to get equal play. It wasn't just The Hugh Jackman Show with Guest Star Patrick Stewart.
-
These films do not hold up well. The entire franchise will someday be completely re-visioned and re-filmed. They look dated already and the cheesy soundtracks on X1 & X3 by Michael Kamen do not help.
If you enjoy these films good for you but I'm guessing you are wearing fanboy blinders and will someday realize these are ludicrously bad movies at best mediocre leftovers from 1990's.
The retarded Pivot-from-the-hip wire work is enough to bury these films. In my mind these are Xmen TV Movies. I'm still waiting for an actual cinematic X-men experience. -
I saw the trailer and it looked routine, like X MEN lite - lots of the same set pieces that were in X3 as well (truck flipping on highway etc) - nothing exciting about the film, looks like a February release, might make $75 million if its lucky. Tom Rothman fucked this one goooood -- judging from the trailer.
-
They're putting the squid in! I knew if Watchmen left it out another smart franchise would pick up the slack!
-
It pains me to say.
-
(a)They dont have enough decent footage to fill 85 minutes and they need more footage pad the film out
(b)Not enough action in the film and they needed an extra set piece
(c) Narrative problems with the film
In any case reshoots are never a good sign -
I have mixed emotions about reshoots. To my knowledge, I have never heard anything possitive about them, which tells me someone at Fox was at least paying attention to dailies that needed work. That said, given the outpouring of Fox hate here, I can only but wonder how well Wolverine is going to do exactly. The character's origin story was one of which I was really skeptical, but when I finally read it, I became a convert to learning just who Wolverine really was. That said, given the epic they're trying to shove into the preview were you to make THAT into a three hour film, I just might indulge Fox. However, we all know how this is going to end don't we? The casual fans (of the films) and their gfs who have a monster crush on Jackman will flock to see this film...and get an episodic, poorly reasoned, continuity-in-shambles mess. Is it too late to call it X4: The Disappointment?

Dragonballs is getting reshoots too. Where's the concern for Dragonballs?

hopefully this means Fox has wizened up
by castoutthiswickeddreamthathasseizedmyhea
This is good news actually. On a purely commercial level, Fox has undervalued the Wolverine property from the beginning. The Wolverine brand is second only to Spider-Man among Marvel heroes but Fox treats it as if Wolverine were some third-tier hero who can't sell a movie on his own. Just look at the trailer. There are two movies here. One could be the next Dark Knight. The other is the next Fantastic Four. One is an epic-feeling, emotional story about a guy who submits himself to government experimentation to wipe away his memories of the decades he's lived through, the other a crass attempt to fit in as many characters as possible and introduce spin-offs. It's the same with the title: X-Men Origins. They're using a Wolverine movie to test the market for more X-Men Origins films, as if Wolverine is on par with Magneto, Gambit, Deadpool, etc. This is Wolverine, one of the top four most popular superheroes. Fox should be pulling out all the stops. They should be treating this with the same seriousness as The Dark Knight and Watchmen, not using it as a Trojan Horse to introduce Gambit and Deadpool spinoffs that will never happen. (Look at FF2 and the Silver Surfer.) Hopefully these reshoots are a result of Fox realizing that Dark Knight and Watchmen have taken the superhero movie to a new level, and will move this away from the FF feel of the Gambit scenes and more in that direction.
-
Another shitty spin-off. Bring on Magneto!!!

Why should reshoots be any better than the originals?
by snake foreskin
If the same guy who directed the first set of shots is directing the second set, why in bloody hell would you expect a different outcome? That's the definition of insanity, you know.
I know Hollywood is known for "movie magic", but since the damn thing is being filmed in Canada...
And anyway, the Wolverine trailer didn't exactly inspire. Frankly I think it has more to do with the weak story than any shooting problems.
It did look awfully low-budget, though. But then again, so did the last X-Men movie, that Ratner masterpiece. That looked awful in theaters and even more God-awful at home on Blu-Ray. 120hz refresh rate makes things look so cheap!
I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but I honestly think this movie will stink no matter how many reshoots they pay for. -
When they killed off Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Professor X. To be honest, they totally short sheeted the Cyclops character from jump street.
-
Nothing at all. LOTR had reshoots every year for every single film.
I just think that the wolverine movie looks so bad its hard to believe any reshoots could fix it. -
Oh shut the fuck up. They already ruined the X-Men franchise by focusing almost entirely on Wolverine's bullshit backstory. How much more can this character be shoved down my fucking throat? And how many more times do I have to hear "You want to learn the secrets of your past, Logan?!" Blablablablabla FUCK YOU!! P.S. Your name is totally boss.
-
KEEP HOLLYWOOD AMERICAN!
-
The plane couldn't take off BECAUSE of her. It was foreshadowed in the scene in the museum where Jean gets a Phoenix attack and all the electronics around her short out. That's why she gets that look on her face in the plane cause she understands that its her fault.
Also, in X3 they pretty much explain her surviving the flood by saying that she did in fact use her tk to protect herself in a "cocoon". Shit, did I just give a passing credit X3 for plot? -

lol..the backlash against AICN anti fox crusade is STUNNING
by somashine
hey AICN contributing retards..FOX HAD THE RIGHTS TO THE WATCHMAN MATERIAL.
Are you literally this fucking dumb? Wolverine is going to be number 1 at the box office in its first week and you know it.
I'm not seeing it not because of your retarded 2nd grade ideology. I'm not seeing it because it looks like a shitty movie stacked with B actors. Fuck I pretty much made a personal vow to not pay to see anything with Ryan Reynolds
God please..PLEASSE go through with your boycott - boycott everything Fox..NOBODY CARES. Burn your entire Simpsons DVD collection, burn your antire Family Guy DVD collection. Just please get it over with and start climbing that long sliding scale toward adulthood for you. -

"Gavin Hood had a rough time, let's just leave it at that"

Why are we leaving it at that? I want details.

Is it me, or did the link you posted to the newer trailer have a beat from Van Helsing spliced into war scenes. I swear.. it made it better.

If Logan were to have worn the yellow and blue suit

Kids growing up watching the X-men cartoons would have been more receptive to it, and there's your big money right there. Kids like costumes! Spandex is in, street clothes are out.

Tom Rothman asked for a fucking WOLVERINE set to be repainted

against the wishes of the director - how much more fucking micromanaging can you do?
-
Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
-
That's a spot on description of the X Men franchise Danny.
-
Still waiting for a film about the X-Men. Dunno why Logans getting yet another film dedicated to him, he's about as over rated as Venom.
-
Consider me part of the chorus that never really liked the X-Men movies. Hell, I remember getting ripped by other TBers for daring to say that I thought they were overrated.
I can understand why someone likes the first two, and I can see why so many people are fans of the series, but truthfully they were not the best adaptation of the X-men possible and it didn't do a very good job of creating an enduring series. The biggest problem was actually Wolverine, he so dominated the series from the get go that it just didn’t leave any room for the other characters.
I agree with BSB, look at the Claremont/Byrne run (and to a lesser degree some of Claremont/Romita’s work on the series) to see how the X-men really should be done.
-
I mean, Wolverine was at his most interesting when you didn't know how old he was, you didn't know his life story and you didn't know how he got the adamantium claws and skeleton. When he was just this wildman found in the woods in Canada and then trained as a Canadian agent before becoming an X-Men, that was when he was his most interesting. All the "revelations" since then have actually diminished the character.
-
Wolverine is being released in the thick of blockbuster season.
-
....was that brief Wolverine/Sabretooth fight in the snow in part 1. Those were the best 20 seconds of this franchise.
-
Like Agent/Operatives for The Mike Myers Fanclub Street Team?
-
...of his movies, in order to get them perfect. The man was a genius, and he was insane. His last movie, Eyes Wide Shut, was in production for more than two years, and two of the main members of the cast, Harvey Keitel and Jennifer Jason Leigh, were replaced in the course of the filming. He had to reshoot those scenes, because they quit due to the film taking too fucking long. That film also ended the marriage of Tommy Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
-
The first one makes me sleepy. The second is a little more solid, but still dull. The third is total bullshit.
-
My guess is that it is because of a backlash from fans who saw the trailer and witnessed what appeared to be Wolverine leaping through the air like frick'n Superman. I said "frick'n"... therefore I am cool.
-
That would be swell. Golly!
-
He's the one one walked leaving the job unfinished after all. He and his writers are the one who totally shafted James Marsters Cyclops and gave him reason for being disilusioned with the character. He kinda destroyed the whole thing and then fucked up Superman along the way. Ratner's not great but did what he had in the time he was given. Is Speilberg a hack? Maybe, maybe not but Indy 4 is the biggest piece of shit I ever did see and that my friends boils down to the dogshit script he was made to work with. All in all here's hoping something of Wolverine can be salvaged.
-
or X Men for that matter it will be remade/relaunched/rebooted in about five years anyways. It seems that's the hollywood way.

you can't pardon him-- but you can knight him!!
by dannyglovers_dickblood
Mr. Singer would love it if you used your rock hard penis for the dubbing, gently rubbing it on his shoulder in place of a sword and chanting, "Advances Chevalier au nom de Dieu!!!" as you orgasm! -
Canadian's do have agents. Even more impressive is that have Special Forces Operators, like our Delta Force or Britain's SAS, called Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2) which is operating along side our SEALS and SF in Afghanistan. The longest sniper shot in history was performed by a JTF2 member.
I am not Canadian, but I am willing to complement those beer-drinking, hockey playing hosers when they've earned it. -
Now WB is going after producer Larry Gordon for screwing up the rights!
-
about reshoots. Tons of movies have reshoots and they come out great. I loved the first 2 Spiderman films and they had reshoots.
-
without doing it right it could end up just like the punisher did and do no favors for the character and result in one boring action flick. There's alot to Wolverine so I'm hoping it's the personal stuff like that that they're reshooting/adding and not just throwing in more cameos.
-
but then he stated that Jackman is GREAT as wolverine. wow are there two different Quints.
-
There is no way I am going to see this in the theater and contribute to its box office gross.
-
No one really has much fun making it, the results are a sloppy, painful mess, and you just wind up wishing you had those 2 hours of your life back...

Paul Bettany forgot he did Iron Man....HAHAHA!!
by dannyglovers_dickblood
Absent-minded actor Paul Bettany may have difficulty reprising his role in the next Iron Man movie after he completely forgot he starred in the first installment.
The star took on the role of Jarvis, the speaking voice of Tony Stark's house, lab and suit - in the 2008 comic book film.
But by the time the blockbuster hit theatres, Bettany's part in it had completely escaped his memory.
He says, "Somebody said to me about six months later, 'Are you the voice in Iron Man?' And I said no. They went, 'Really?' And I went, 'Oh, no, I am! I am.' So it was sort of done for fun." -
audience laughs. I don't think its ment to be a comedy.
-
Squirrel Girl Pwns! Healing Factor not quick enough for a thousand ravenous Squirrels! Squirrel Girl Pwns ALL!
-
That is all
-
...of Nightcrawlers intro alone. That scene makes me smile everytime i see it. i don't know if singer got more confident with the action sequences or if he had a second unit director on them, but the difference between X-1 and X-2 action was extraordinary.
-
No one will admit it. But it did. The only cool part was when they introduced Wolverine in the bar. The rest of the movie was shit. X2 was good. And X3 was better than X1 in my opinion because I finally got to see multiple mutants fight. I hated Sabertooth in X1 and I love Ray Park but Toad was a little...I dunno. I JUST DONT KNOW!!! I liked the Wolverine trailer btw
-
Who was the geezer in Hill Street Blues many moons ago - little fella, always pissed off and growling at people? I always imagined him as Logan back in the day. He'd probably be about seventy now, though...

Its gonna really be funny when wolvie out does the Watchmen in $
by j2talk
seriously who knows about Watchmen outside the Geek community?
-
is the actor whose name you where trying to remember he played
Detective Mick Belker on Hill Street Blues....personality wise he would make a good Wolverine, but not physically as he was kinda scrawny -
it's gonna suck
-
and I'll go see it based on that alone...I mean come on! 4 movies and he doesn't wear his mask? that's like batman not wearing his mask
-
Cheers for that! He definitely had the growl thing sorted though!
-
...Ryan Reynolds in your action movie= instant FAIL. He seems like an amiable enough dude, but his on-screen annoyance gauge approaches Ben Affleck and Shia Leboof levels.
-
Extensive reshoots, ripping off chase scenes from Mission Impossible, horrible casting and "makeup" for the main villain, squeezing too many name characters into too small roles in the same film... the only thing this film needs to be a complete disaster is Joel Schumacher at the helm.
-

try not to judge reshoots until you see the actual final product
by tallboy66
They could just be adding total badassery action sequences. Maybe not the best example, but Lucas threw in a whole new action sequence in Ep. 2, which wasn't in the initial shoot. Reshoots for more action isn't always bad.
-
We should have seen Wolverine with his first team, and then him going rogue, after finding out they are more than meets the eye, in a bad way...followed by Alpha Flight trying to take him down. That was one cool ass story and Vindicator, one badass enemy. That should have been the movie version of Wolverine.
-
"leave it at that" = fail @ cool news.
-
a vastly superior Heroes. Lots of interesting characters and storylines to rotate in and out. as movies, its much harder. too many characters.
-
"They could just be adding total badassery action sequences. Maybe not the best example, but Lucas threw in a whole new action sequence in Ep. 2, which wasn't in the initial shoot. Reshoots for more action isn't always bad." I have to say I think it would be ironic if you are not a plant, if only to me.
-
CAN'T YOU PEOPLE WRAP YOUR HEADS AROUND THE PERFECT CASTING?!?! At least his voice is slightly closer then whoever voiced him in Hulk Vs. Wolverine, while the dialogue was classic Deadpool the voice totally took me out of it. Got to see Wolvie actually stab flesh though, that was pretty cool but still, Squirrel Girl could take em all.
-
What about rewriting it, re casting it and hiring a good director? (No, Gavin Hood is not a good director, he makes maudlin, critic baiting shit).
-
I wouldn't mind if you killed Rom Mothman and took his place. Not at all.
-
I'll eat my own left testicle if this movie doesn't suck ass. Seriously. I'll slice open my chicken bag with a butter knife, use rusty wire cutters to clip my nut, and pop it into my mouth, chaw down on it like Big League Chew, and then swallow. That's how confident I am that there's no saving this shitfest as long as Fox executives are running the show. The movie will be total ass. Guaranteed.
-
But worse than DAREDEVIL which lands it right between shit and suck so it will probably suck shit.
-
Rotten Tomato Meter will Damn or Save Your Balls. Fresh Rating means you get to dine on that ball of Man.I'm dead serious.
-
I mean...this is supposed to be exciting, right? And the FX shot of him riding on the top of the helicopter was particularly bad.
-
I need to frequent them as much as possible...
-
a new concept on these boards, Im sure. But i really can't say either way
-
Still sounds better than sitting through Valkyrie
-
the only people interested in this soft sad Wolverine garbage are women who get a little moist over Jackman. Any real X fan knows that Wolverine has been "declawed" since the first film.
"Does it hurt?"
"..every time."
God, I want to puke just at the thought of that line. -
You know, your feelings aside, you could use your extensive Wolverine knowledge to get totally laid by afore mentioned moist women. When is the world would have ever been able to say that and actually have it be even a little true? Stop being a hater long enough to see the upside to things.
-
...after they fucked up Last Stand. X2 left the franchise off in such wonderful territory and then they ruined it all so we could get this? Trailer reminds me of Mortal Combat.
-
We want the story, who will deliver it to us?
-
wolverine does not do that.
-
I am surprised they didn't do some version of Frank Miller's classic mini-series for the Wolverine solo movie. I mean, ninja can make just about any movie watchable. All this Weapon X junk just makes my eyes glaze over.
-
That will never happen because of you people. No Magneto no X-Men:First Class...none of it. Because you all hate this movie.
-
I'm...the BEST THERE IS..at....what I DO!
-
How many teams does he really need to be a part of? He seems to be everywhere in the Marvel Universe. It was good when Jason Aaron made reference to that in his story arc 'Get Mystique' on Wolverine's solo title, with Mystique taunting Wolverine about the mulitple groups he's running with. Great story by the way. And after staying away from Origin because I liked Logan's mysterious past, I only just gave in and read it, finding a neatly crafted tale. The allusion to the Cyclops-Jean love triangle, his reason for being so interested in Japan and the way of the samurai, and his eventual turn to the wildside all made sense and were great. I kind of think it's unfortunate he had to feature so prominently in all three of the X-Men movies, especially at the expense of other characters. Not too excited about his own movie, but I'll see it of course. Still my favourite comics character in spite of it all.
-
I can name a ton of movies that had reshoots that came out just fine... X-men 3, Fantastic 4, Elektra... Wait, nevermind
-
The real manfest is going to be the Expendables! Staring Rambo, Drago, The Transporter, The One, The Wrestler, The King of Scotland, and the ex UFC champ!
-
Isn't that OBVIOUS to everyone? They are reshooting Wolverine to raise the quality of the film. Quality is a function of box office in superhero films. TDK proved that. They are letting Hood re-shoot. If they were just throwing in action then they'd get Renny Harlin or some other idiot to reshoot action. They are reshooting for story because they know that there is only ONE SINGLE OTHER dark knight... and that is Wolverine. They are cashing in on quality. I'm not saying this out of optimism... it's all about money. Everyone knows that Wolverine is Fox's chance for a Billon dollar franchise. I think they saw the light after seeing The Dark Knight.
-
like the high octane stuff with the big boat in Speed 2?
-
...that QUINT wrote this little article, not HARRY.
and you're probably thinking "hey asshole, there's no hyphen in my name" ...well there IS NOW, bitch. and everyone still knows you suck ass. -

Marvel needs to get it back and reboot it all, Schwartz will not
by reflecto
Just reboot and do a gritty yet wildly colorful, fantastical X-Men movie that lives up to the limitless potential of the franchise, as opposed to the drab films we've gotten.
-
MERELY PASSABLE. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. REBOOT!
-
Singer , though he had never read a single X-men comic book in his life before making X-men had a terrible time making the first first film and battled fox continously to make a film the film he knew that fans wanted. He wasnt helped by the fact that Hally berry was by all accounts a major pain in the ass. Singer didnt want to ome back for the sequel but fox reminded him that as he had signed on for the first two he could go anywhere. Hally berry got her oscar for monsters ball(ocks) and became a bigger pain in the ass. Demanded more money and said that if they didnt pay her they could stick the movie up their asses. She got her pay increase. and was very demanding on set. She and singer didnt get on. I am sure that singer wanted to put in lots of things that the fans wanted. but he battled fox and lost. I am sure that by the time he was offered Superman, he made the decision to get as far way from fox as possibly he could. Fox gets kicked a lot on the talkback from perfectionists. But there was more trouble behind the scenes on the x-men films. Then you will ever know. Matthew Vaughan went through this on his very short time in charge of x-men 3. So they got Brett Ratner and make this film the way we tell to you to make and he did. Speilberg made two movies in six months. not all film makers are spielberg though. and no studio would dare tell him what to do at this stage.
-

don't most directors have to put up with crap behind the scenes?
by crazybubba
even once hitchcock had established himself as a legend he had to put up with paul newman's megastar antics on the set of torn curtain. also storm was such a small part of the x-men movies, how much did he really have to put up with?
-
so thats one good X-Men film out of 3. The chances that this will be good too are remote. Extensive re-shooting MAY solve the problems, but its also a clear sign that there ARE big problems with whats already been made. Doesn't look good.
-
less TDK nonsense more Iron Man.....be nice if its a film I'd watch more than once....
-
I feel lucky to be able to enjoy all 3 films in different ways, I wish they would stop faffing about and make a 4th,
-
a lot of shite. most notable of all were the titanic clashes between murphy and landis. then there was nicholson on the set of the departed. or Brandon on the set of that irish film he made with depp. that never saw the light of day. I think most of singers battles were to do with the studio. I thought the name the last stand was stupid. they werent really about three characters Magneto, professor X and wolverine. the rest were reduced to minor characters. and one last thing. The movies and the money they made went into helping Hugh Jackman setup his film, tv and theatre production company.
-
stage. That hugh jackman is talks to take the lead in the prequel to lord Lloyd webbers Phanthom of the opera. called Love never dies. it is set in Coney Island and tells the story of three principal characters before the events that took place in the phantom of the opera.
-
Antonio banderas. if hugh takes the part it will be the biggest role he will ever take. He is a fantastic singer and an established broadway star.
-
The film critic who host the Ultimate Trailer Show on HD Net, and last week he showed the Wolverine trailer. He mentioned Gavin Hood and how like the only thing he has done was Tsotsi and that was it. Given that Tsotsi was an independent foreign drama Oscar winner, he was like I don't think Hood has any reason for directing this. THE MOTHER FUCKER WAS IN AMERICAN KICKBOXER and a bunch of cheesy action movies in the 90's, obviously Hood has some martial arts background of sorts. Now I'm not saying that it makes him perfect I'm just tired of lazy critics, all I did was check out IMDB to see who Gavin Hood was and I realized that I fucking recognized him for some of his early movies. I just don't get how some guy who knows as much about movies as the obnoxiousness guy in the office who only reads Yahoo movies and everyone thinks he knows all about movies gets a fucking show talking only about movies. Its just fucking irritating, and dumb people watch this shit and take Robert at his word not giving Hood a second thought. Plus the mother fucker is in love with Paul Rudd? I don't get that either Rudd does two great comedies, Anchorman and 40 Year Old Virgin and all of the sudden everyone acts like he is some Bill Murray comedy and has been for some time? I guess we were all huge fans of Clueless and that movie where Rudd is gay with the Friends girl???

Join the Boycott, DON'T PAY MONEY TO SEE FOX MOVIES. No matter how much you like the director, star, material or concept. IF TOM ROTHMAN TOUCHES THE PRODUCT IT WILL BECOME SHIT!!! He's kinda like the KING MIDAS of SHITTY MOVIES. KING SHITHAND!!! BOYCOTT FOX MOVIES UNTIL TOM ROTHMAN IS GONE.
-
Anyone noticing the waning interest in comic book movies? It's not because we don't still love the comics. It's because we can no longer tolerate half-assed attempts at comic book movies. Dark Knight and Iron Man set a new standard and may have killed the genre for movies like this. I will tell you, I loved Wolverine since the 80's when Chris Claremont and John Byrne penned those classic X-Men storylines but this movie...? Netflix.
-
According to James Schamus in entertainment weekly Ledger had a miserable time whilst making Brokeback mountain. and Terry Gilliam who worked briefly with ledger before his death concurred that Brokeback mountain took its toll on heath ledger. Schamus said that Ang lee has a cuddly demeanour but once he calls action he develops a military style mentality. He doesnt yell or bully people but he is very tougn all the same. and this turns actors into What Schamus calls alienated props. Christina Ricci discovered this when making the ice storm. She said that he was very demanding and an exhaustive director to work for. She felt like he was a very strict and unemotive headmaster. when she asked a question Lee would demand that she read her lines over and over again. He is a very tough taks master. that is why both connolly and Bana are in no hurry to work with him again. Lee did military service before disobeying his father by quitting the army taking up a film career.

Its gonna suck, like the Xmen movies sucked. Fox needs to be punished by fans for what they pulled with the Watchmen. I plan to boycott any Fox movie. But missign Wolverine wont be hard. Jackman is horrible as Logan and cant act worth a shit. Van Helsing proved that. They can reshoot till the cows come home, it will still eat ass.
-
wasn't Gambit in the trailer? He looked like freakin' Bo Bice with a Derby hat if I remember correctly. I don't have good vibes about this film.

studios will just bin comic book movies.

there is nothing you can do. bar maybe bombarding studios in protest if you dont like fox's comic book movies.
