Josh Schwartz’s next TV series may be set in the “Gossip Girl” universe years before the Gossip Girl – or the blogosphere – was born. A flashback-intensive May 11 “Gossip Girl” episode will serve as pilot for a potential spinoff series focusing on Serena van der Woodsen’s mother and black-sheep aunt when the pair were hot young adults living away from their parents in hair-band-happy 1980s Los Angeles. Schwartz, currently hard at work penning a new “X-Men” project for the big screen, previously created “The OC” and “Chuck” for the little screen. Find all of zap2it’s story on the matter here.
