Get Ready For The TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE Live Webcast...Now 10pm PST!! + A Bunch Of Camera Grabs From Filming!!

Published at:  Jan 10, 2009 11:00:41 PM CST

Merrick again, again, again...

Latest reports indicated the webcast (a live feed from the set) will begin 'round 10pm PST. This timing is very much fluid due to the demands of ongoing shooting.

Merrick again, again...

Now seems the webcast won't be happening unitl approx 8pm PST.

Merrick again...

Albert Pyun is indicating the webcast will ramp up AROUND 6pm PST.

Merrick here...

The TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE gang is mounting a live webcast from the set this afternoon. You can behold it via the embed below. CLICKING on the embed's uStream logo will take you to the uStream site, where a TALES chat room will enhance the broadcast.

Free TV : Ustream

Preliminary details say this'll be happening "throughout the day". I'm trying to get more specific information re: timing & will pass it onto you when/if I do.

Not sure whose gonna be participating in the broadcast, but the film's cast includes Kevin Sorbo, Christopher Lambert, Ralf Moeller, Melissa Ordway, Janelle Taylor, Scott Paulin, Whitney Able, Jennifer Siebel and maybe/maybe not Lee Horsley (perhaps this webcast will tell us if he's back or not? Hint hint...)

Also, here's a new wave of images from the filming of TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE.

What makes this batch of images different than the pics we've seen before (HERE) is that the images below are actual "camera grabs" which accurately reflect the look of the film. Previously seen images were taken by on-set photographers for publicity purposes and what not - using different tech, lenses, and so forth.

Sorry they're so many of them presented at one time. Technical complications prevented us from posting some of these yesterday, so this represents something of a backlog.

ALL IMAGES ARE EMBIGGENABLE!!!

(IMMEDIATELY BELOW) That's Ralf Moeller on the right. You may recall him from GLADIATOR, PATHFINDER, the CONAN TV series that aired a while back (he was Conan). He even appeared briefly in BATMAN & ROBIN.

Here's Whitney Able as Xia. I like this first image of her; I hear she's pretty badass in the movie.

yep seen about 2-3 of his movies, none I can really remember so not looking good
I think I,m looking forward to "Bitch Slap" with Sorbo, with plot keywords such as Lesbian, Nun, Nudity, Lesbian Scene, and Sex, sounds.. well sounds better than the above

yeah was just checking him out on IMDB

    by talkbacker with no name

has made 45 features and only one which was a sort of ok movie (cyborg). The rest are total shit. Alright The Sword and the Sorcerer is a guilty pleasure, but it's hardly any good is it?
I don't want to hack on the guy too much, this might be the one which is good, but jesus! 45 movies suggest otherwise.

this is not sarcastic. what is the appeal to this movie? i dont know anything of this project. is it some sort of cult thing involving sorbo? is it based on some sort of game or book? am i missing something or does it seem kind of cheesy/low budget?

You either had to have seen The Sword and The Sorceror at an impressionable age or seen it as an adult with the feverish mind of a twelve or thirteen-year-old boy in order to understand the hopes riding on this belated sequel.

Nearly three decades ago, there was a movie called THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER made by director Albert Pyun. A graphic at the end of the movie promised a continuation called TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE - which Pyun is now making 27 years later. SWORD AND THE SORCERER has something of a following & many people remember seeing it growing up. The interest in TALES comes from this.

With its bloody, squirming bodies, was a tribute to what you could do with some latex and corn syrup. I thought, "Man if the whole movie had been like this, it would have been a classic."

Agreed, that crypt with the tiny, screaming faces that came to life was indeed creepy, espeically for us at that age. But then it's topped by Xusia ripping the heart out of that witch! Awesome. Cheesy fun, but man that movie had some rather imaginative sequences and effects. Who'd have thought we would wait 27 years for Talon's next adventure?!

    by gungan slayer

a stuffed, bloated and over packaged Sci-Fi Channel movie. Might as well start reporting on all the other stuff Sci-Fi starts cranking out--"Cyclops," "Rise of the Gargoyle," "Dragonstorm," "Dragon Dynasty," or even the seminal classic "Fire & Ice." I remembered and enjoyed "The Sword and the Sorcerer" but honestly, I find it hard to believe how people are getting so excited about this new project. Kudos to Pyun for getting to do what he wants though.

distribute this? Don't be surprise if it goes straight to DVD or SCIFI channel. I'd watch it though. Much like Sword and the Sorcerer it will be better to view it on TV. You can pause it and take a crap or grab beer and munchables between cheesy scenes.

Worth a drunken DVD rental, not quite the Frazetta Barbarianism of the original which captialised on the burgeoning Sword and Sorcery fad of the early 80s kick started by Milius's Conan
