Broken Lizard Serves Up A Red-Band Trailer For THE SLAMMIN' SALMON!

Published at:  Jan 07, 2009 1:38:22 AM CST

Beaks here...

The Broken Lizard boys are back with their fourth motion picture extravaganza, and it looks like they've got a shot at recapturing the inspired silliness of SUPER TROOPERS with THE SLAMMIN' SALMON. Collider's hosting the red-band trailer. Check it out...

"How are we feline this evening?" That's the kind of stupid I can get behind. Helps that cats are involved.

THE SLAMMIN' SALMON will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in a couple of weeks.

Club Dred was unviewable. Unless they can tap into the hilarity that comes with working in a restaurant then this will go under their shit library. Super Troopers was great. Beerfest had its moments. This looks to only have movements, to the toilet.

come back and watch it again. Cloris Leachman as gam-gam was great casting. When I saw her as the grand marshall for the Rose bowl this year I laughed my ass off. I don't think Club Dread gets enough credit either, the dialog in that is great and there are, in my mind enough small moments (Like a drunken Paxton saluting his hat after ouring booze over it knee deep in the ocean.) to make it worthwhile.

Puddle Cruiser, Super Troopers, Club Dread, and Beerfest.

While not the greatest movies, they are damn funny, I don't care what anyone says.

And Series 7, yeah, I saw Puddle Cruiser way back when they were touring colleges with it. Met the guys back then, and they were mad cool. But the flick, despite being rough, had some brilliant moments. I continue to use "Firstie Firstie" in everyday conversation. Same with that "You wanna get brunch?" line, whenever I have unwanted sex.

I'll agree, Club Dread was a MAJOR misstep. And I've never seen Puddle Cruiser (don't think it was released theatrically). But Super Troopers is the bees knees and I love me some Beerfest. I'm honestly shocked at all the hate for that one. Cloris Leachman stroking a sausage, Badrinath under the bridge, and DAS BOOT!...that movie still cracks me up. I'll easily check out the Salmon, even though it does seem a lot was given away in the trailer. Oh, and for the record, Super Troopers 2 has been set as their followup to Salmon for over a year now.

I fuckin' LOVE BeerFest! I'll admit, the first time I saw it, I was like "Meh." But it's one of those movies that each time you see it, you start appreciating the various bits they're doing more and more. Then you just love waiting for the moments. I'm sorry, but "Landfill" is one of the greatest nicknames ever. It's what I call a "snack movie", meaning you can take little bites of it and enjoy it without making a full meal out of it. If I've gotta head out the door in about 20 minutes and just wanna watch something and I see Beerfest is on, I can watch 20 minutes from wherever it's at, get my chuckle on, and then head out without feeling like, "Aw, shit, I wish I could stay and watch the rest." But the next time I'm channel surfing and there's nothing new on that I wanna check out -- if Beerfest is playing, I'm there and I know I'll get a good laugh, everytime.

Your ignorance of comedy continues to astound. Even a severly retarded child knows that Broken Lizard's flicks and the Spartans/Super Hero "spoof" movies (or those of Paulie Shore, Ernest, et al.) are nowhere close to being in the same league as one another.

And you keep using the phrase "lowest common denominator". In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya, "I do not think it means what you think it means."

I don't believe that anyone here would classify Broken Lizard's movies as "high brow" by any stretch of the imagination, but calling them "lowest common denominator" is just plain inaccurate.
