Live in Chicago? Wanna see David Goyer's latest THE UNBORN? Capone has the details!!!

Published at:  Jan 03, 2009 5:22:05 PM CST

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here with the first ticket giveaway of 2009 for residents of the Windy City.

I've got a few tickets for a screening designed to whet the whistle of Chicagoans before I make a major screening announcement in a few days about something going on next week (with guest). In the mean time, I've got 50 passes (each god for the winner plus one guest) for David Goyer's latest, THE UNBORN. Since I know these tickets are going to fly out the door, I'm only keeping the contest open for one day. So, 24 hours after the time code on this posting, and this contest is over.

I saw a whole lot of truly freaky footage from this film at ComicCon last year, much of which showed up in the trailer. And Goyer is usually a guy you can trust, especially when you look at his screenplays/story credits: THE DARK KNIGHT, BATMAN BEGINS, DARK CITY, the three BLADE movies, and the upcoming X-MEN ORIGINS: MAGNETO, which he is also slated to direct. And while I wasn't a huge fan of his last film as a director, THE INVISIBLE, I did think the film has a great vibe that kept it off my Worst of 2007 list. THE UNBORN was shot in Chicago last year and features the likes of Gary Oldman, Jane Alexander, Carla Gugino, James Remar, and Odette Yustman in her first feature since CLOVERFIELD.

The screening takes place Thursday, January 8 at 7:00pm at a theater in downtown Chicago (the exact location will only be given to contest winners). This is NOT an exclusive AICN screening, so winners need to arrive early to guarantee admission. In fact, this is the only pre-release screening of this film in Chicago, which means I'll be there even though I won't be running the shindig. I am expecting this to be oversold, so if there's even a chance you won't be able to make it, don't enter.

Here's how to secure a pass good for you and one guest. Send me an email at capone@aintitcoolmail.com with the subject line "I LOVE MY UNBORN TWIN!"

I need your name (guests' names are not required), and, in the body of the email, tell me why you love your unborn twin (I'm assuming you all have one, right?). Limit your answers to 75 words or less. I'll be judging these on creativity, shock value, and possibly some kind of swimsuit competition.

Winners will receive an email from me soon. Good luck, everyone! And hope to see you there.

    DAVID GOYER GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    by illuminate

    Hey David Goyer,

Thanks for fucking up the Blade Trilogy. The first two were cinematic perfection and then you took a shit right on Blade with Blade 3.

I sound great singing to music in my car but, I am not stupid enough to make a Goddamned full of myself on American Idol. You can't Direct worth Shit and I waisted 2 hours of my life watching that steaming pile in the movie theaters, thanks for nothing asshole.

You are definitly a great screenwriter but, you fucking suck at Directing. Also, it is not all your fault. Blade 3 also looked cheaper than the previous Blade movie since, you listened to some of the dumb ass fans who complained about the CGI. CGI is what makes all summer blockbusters as big as they are. It started with Terminator 2 and Jurrassic Park and the idiots who complained about that shit are the ones who are against the summer blockbuster and if you are one of those guys than go fuck yourself and have fun watching soap operas you fucking losers.

Back to my point, I hope Blade 4 comes out, if they can replace Snipes or waite until he gets out of jail.

TDK without great performances would have been shit

    by i dunno

The very last person to be credited with that film's success is the writer. As for The Unborn, undead children are always scary, so good luck with the contest, as nonsensical as it is.

    Ughhhhhhh CGI

    by rogueleader66

I am so sick of these whiny little fanboys who think CGI is what makes movies great. "CGI is what makes all summer blockbusters as big as they are." Are you fucking kidding me? CGI ENHANCES already good movies. The greatest CGI in the world cant mask a poor script or poor acting or any other bad qualities. Jesus grow the fuck up. Besides that, CGI only works when it's done right, and sorry but most of the time it is easy to spot, and that makes it SUCK. CGI fire and explosions ARE FUCKING LAME. Take the time to make things look right or dont waste my time with fake looking CGI.

Seriously... they just changed the name and tried to pull a fast one on us. Check the iMDb. I knew it looked familiar. I'll see The Unborn, only because despite it's unoriginality it looks like it might not be as bad as everyone is making it out to be before seeing it.

Goyer didnt write the Dark Knight

    by robzass

He plotted it with Chris Nolan. Theres a big difference. Trust me, everything you hated about Batman Begins like "nice coat" and "you need to lighten up", those were Goyers.
