Any chance we can get an obituary? The man's Richard Stark books kicked much ass, and he did make some contributions in film. He adapted The Grifters and one of his novels was the basis for the badass Point Blank. RIP, Mr. Westlake.

YES! E.W. FUCKING POTTER SPOILERS! FUCK!

    by half vader

Why is it so damn hard to conceive of the notion that MILLIONS of people go see the films without reading the books first? FUCK! No point in seeing the rest of them now I guess. The whole problem with the 1st film and to a lesser extent the 2nd are that they're so beholden to the books they DON'T WORK as FILMS. Thanks God they learned their lesson with the 3rd flick. No more narrative dead-ends and redundant scenes. And the very worst thing about the first couple being ostensibly ads for the books (which is redundant in itself) is that when you're that slavish, the only difference between the book and the film is that with the film you don't even have to USE your fucking imagination.

The last couple of flicks were pretty much just marking time though. The funny thing is, I was 'saving' the books 'til after the films finished. Oh well. I doubt that they'll end the way I think they should with Ron dying as an ultimate act of bravery/sacrifice - obviously I subscribe to Harrison Ford's theory that for Han to have had a full character arc he had to die. Same with Ron. I bet we don't get put out of our misery with Snape either in the next one...

Back on topic, I hope Warners bars E.W. from any HP story or picture from here on to teach 'em a bloody lesson. I thought I was doing well and that a "first look" photo caption would be safe...

They looked like better textured versions of the TV show originals. I wonder if they scrapped the film created costumes or CGI enhanced them to make them look more intimidating and real? The info about the film says using realistic looking dinosaurs to add to the drama and comedic moments. Too bad that Year One set dressing image looks so hollywoodish. " Slayer in 3D ", it should be ! Fuck it, why can't we be more like the '80s, sometimes ? ( Even if it, for the most part, SUCKS ?) This decade feels like the dingy, lameoid, rancid, no-fun B-side of that erstwhile gangbusters time. If it weren't just for the more superior films and the SEVERAL LIGHT YEARS BETTER television...

    Quite Excellent, Remarkable Films

    by ptsdpete

In the least. Don't wanna go on dignifying INDY 4 and the capitulation of horror and violent action, or anything ( and most of the Star Wars Prequels ). So, not exactly ' more superior ' to the decade in the sense, and across the board - I think the adjective is far too superlative, and that the technical standards and general edge of that era must be made paramount more often - but in the least, within the stable of New Hollywood, and the '80s cinema into possibly going beyond. Even though some are sterling improvements already as they are( Casino Royale, The Dark Knight, There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men ). So I'm clear.

I knew there was at least one Talkbacker thinking that I spent hours to come up with that JC list.
That was a 5 second job, these intial name lists can easily be Googled up, I haven't even heard of a lot of those ! (Jackie Chan, James Caan , Jim Carrey, Johhny Cash, James Coburn, John Cassavettes, James Cameron, Joan Collins etc).

    Terminator images are scary

It's a photoshop edit of a scene that is probably so horrible in the final movie that they couldn't savage one exciting shot from it. Damn you McG !

That chin is too small. Every chin is too small compared to Leno.
