Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We got this message in about the new Street Fighter trailer... I made sure to rush over to the link and check it out... And it looks surprisingly not super shitty, but I couldn't spot CGI Raul Julia. Maybe they're saving him for the full trailer...

I realize I'm one of maybe five people actually looking forward to this flick, but after FINALLY seeing some moving footage from this thing, I can at least comfortably say it doesn't look nearly as stupefyingly bad as Dragonball.

The Legend of Chun Li. Looks like another attempt to make a "realistic" film from fanciful material. It's a goddamn video game--a FIGHTER at that. Treat it like a fucking video game and just fill in the gaps and tweak it so that the story isn't so stupid. M. Bison in a suit? Because real dictators don't dress in ridiculous military garb, right? Or does part of the story involve Bison being supplanted by his board of directors? I WILL ADMIT, though, that it's pretty bold to not include the more recognizable characters. Also the fight scenes don't look CGed or anything, so that's cool. But it's just so unnecessary and it looks colorless and boring. Dragon Ball looks way better than this.

I wouldn't say it looks GOOD...but it does look like it has some cool wire-fu going on, so I might check it out just for the hell of it! But I'm really confused about WHY this movie is getting made....so like...are they going to do a movie about Chun Li...then Ryu...then M. Bison and eventually just throw them in a movie? Confusing...but I LOVE the Japanese trailer guys voice! HA!

The thing about Mortal Kombat was that since the game used live actors, it didn't look that ridiculous when made into a film. SF on the other hand has a way more stylized exaggerated look that's simply never going to transfer well to the screen. Same with Dragonball. It's just not meant to be, folks.

At least this movie will have more flashy special moves than the "other" SF movie. She has her fireball, but looks like she is making ZERO effort to launch it. Just stands there looking serious and ZOMG FYRE comes out. I know this is Chun-li's story but come on, some other good guys in the movie would be nice. Even Dhalsim or something... anything. -

was'nt expecting much to be fair, after the woeful van damme flick. at least that had Raul Julia to keep it afloat(he is missed)-but resting a film on the shoulders of the worst actress in a rubbish tv show, playing a character that nobody really cared about (where is the Ryu film? Why hasnt hollywood figured out he was the hero of the game?)and then coughing up a trailer with boring standard "dramatic montage trailer music" with the abrupt end so a soundbite can be delivered...I dont think I shall be watching this at any point myself guys.

Since I never played the video game, this has no emotional attachment to me. I just want to see the HOT Kristen Kruik beat up guys! :) But, why call it Street Fighter if they won't even give her the costume? The "Josie and the Pussycats" live action movie failed because they didn't wear the costumes from the comics or cartoon. Therefore, if Kristen doesn't wear the Chun Li costume, this movie will really fail.

It looks like it can be fun! But, they shouldn't of called it "Street Fighter" if they weren't going to put her in the hot costume she wears in the game. They could of just made her a new character in an original movie that had nothing to do with "Street Fighter". But, like alot of films, it seems like they just wanted the name. Same with the new "G.I. Joe" film. Those aren't the Joes I remember.

My goodness, wire work has a place in Martial Arts cinema. It is the fantastical extrapolation of real moves, and is great fun to watch. Sounds like this crowd would tear up a Ching Siu Tung movie too...

Anyone expecting any Street Fighter movie to look good - don't even start on being a good film - is living in a fantasy world that you access only through copious amounts of sake. I'm actually quite sick of Wire-Fu. That said, this looks a helluva lot better than JCVD shite from 15 years ago.

keep in mind that was the Japanese trailer we just saw. every market is going to receive a different trailer, tailored to what that market wants to see. I'll reserve judgement until we see the American trailer, as it may very well be a better representation of what we're going to see in the movie.

A few people here are making fun of the announcer. A thing to realize, most Japanese syllables are a combination of a consonant and a vowel. Thus, to say the English word "Street" you have to say it like "Sutureeto" (though those u's can be prounounced silently). And there is only one sound in Japanese for "r" and "l" - it's actually halfway between the two letters.

Charlie, Shadow, the new guy in the latest game, whoever. The geeks just couldn't have a bad ass American Military guy compete for the face of the franchise. I remember Champion Editions release in the arcade, and it was great cuz everybody got to find out who the best Guile player was. They later took the best character in a fighting game, and possibly one of the coolest video game characters ever, and sold him out completely. This franchise is dead in every way. "The war has been cancelled".

I dont mind Kreuk, but she's just so wrong for Chun Li. They should have got somebody who can both act and fight, like Zhang Ziyi, then we'd have a decent action movie. And as somebody else pointed out, Black Eyed Pea guy as Vega is horrible casting. You want a good Street Fighter movie, just watch the end of City Hunter with Jackie Chan.
Also, are the characters gonna have their original names in Asia and the switched names in America like with the games? Stupid Capcom. -

Street Fighter has Kreuk, and looks like it's taking itself seriously.
DOA has a half dozen hot chicks, Kevin Nash for comedy relief, and Eric Roberts as the villain, and it didnt even try to take itself seriously one bit. I think DOA wins by default. -
