Hey folks, Harry here... I just carved my initials into the leather band of my BENJAMIN BUTTONS backwards watch with my frickin laser and as the scent of burnt leather scorched my nostrils, my eyes fell upon an email from Mirko at Coming Soon that Bruce Boxleitner aka ALAN 1 aka Alan Bradley aka TRON in the original TRON is indeed going to be in the 3D TR2N that was in the top ten most searched for movies according to like Yahoo or Google or some such search device.
Man. Lasers, backwards watches and 3D Tron movies. The future is going backwards, but really fucking cool!

Please don't make it be about the internet. The plot for Tron 2.0 ( the video game ) wasn't bad, but that's because it was a videogame. The writing for the dialog and all the detail work and backs tory was GREAT in Tron 2.0 and brought the universe up to current tech terminology without being hokey and still keeping to tradition in the Tron universe.
The writers for T22222N better spend a hell of a time writing a compelling story within the expanded universe, not just an expose on "look how cool tron's world is now"
The little teaser with Flynn possibly being a bad guy has be intrigued, but you need to do some world class story telling here, or this is going to end up like Star Wars Episode 1

was the most wretched run on sentence i've sat through on this site since the last time someone wanted to talk about their PoS merchandise and how it had nothing to do with the meat of the post, i mean is it too much to ask for the news to be delivered in a coherent and readable form or am I just living in an impossible world where the desire to have items like this presented in a way that respects any given aspect of the english language is possible?

I wont start getting excited until I see some stills or footage and get an idea of the story. I am excited they are making the movie, but can't let myself get too excited or else I am bound to be disappointed. I won't be like the legions of James Cameron dick suckers who are creaming their jeans about Avatar while not having seen one damn stitch of footage. JC is a great film maker and I hope Avatar is good, but god stop with this bullshit about how it is gonna be the greatest film in the past hundred fucking years. Visual effects don't make a great movie, acting and story do, visual effects just add to it.

If I was the richest man alive, my first order of business would be funding science to make a lightsaber. (It doesn't have to be exact, I'm not picky. It just has to be the basic idea of a laser sword. The noises would be nice, but we can't have everything, I guess.) In 1982 computers were still a mystery, I got my first an Apple IIe clone in 1983; video games were amazingly new, with an entire subculture growing up around them; every newscast had a story about what was happening out here in California with the "Whiz kids" and terms like Users, programs, chips, bits and bytes were not part of common language, today though it all seems so anachronistic, it has all moved so fast and technology is so common place we don't even think about the machines anymore; kids have cell phones vastly more powerful than even some so called super computers of the 1980s, for fucks sake most "Users" don't even know a thing about the machines they are using...very unlike the time of Tron. I just wonder...if in this wired world, what was the wonder of Trons world will still resonate?

The comic con trailer was great!! That trailer was more entertaining than most films that came out this year. The only people that hate Tron 2 are "haters" that hate everything. It's a good thing they're going to be drafted in the army to fight in Afganistan, and drafted into Obama's National Securtiy Force that's just as strong and well funded as the Army. He needs to be a central character. Even if they get someone else to play TRON, they at least need him as Alan throughout the film.

The film is actually called "Tron 2". "TR2N" is just the way it looks in the so-called "Tron Font". A fancy and clever trick on the eyes. Yet, for some reason lots of you are still confused about it. 0_o

I'll ditto the "hope Bruce has more than a cameo" remark. I'm really looking forward to this sequel but at the same time, I'm trying to keep my expectations from going wildly out of control but so far, the bits and pieces that have come out about this have been positive. ^_^

The comic-con footage was indeed uplifting. They seem to be on the right track, and the evolution of this concept is interesting. There are still a lot of possibilities to explore. Everything I've seen and heard so far just seems "right." The last time I felt this way was with "Iron Man." I hope it works out.

To the people who don't think Tron will resonate with the audience nowadays, well...you must of not seen the Tron 2 comic con trailer. More than half of the people there weren't EVEN BORN when the first one came out, and THEY ALL WENT WILD FOR IT! People will resonate with the film EVEN MORE nowadays! With the way tech is now everywhere we go in our every day lives, well the possibilities of a new Tron film is awesome in the directions they can go.

I'm really happy to hear that Bruce Boxleitner is going to be in it, but I still really REALLY wish they would shoot the live actors in black and white and wrap them in 21st century CGI. I think TR2N would be SO much cooler if they melded modern CGI with the old fashioned technique that made the original so visually distinctive. Pure CGI versions of Boxleitner and Jeff Bridges simply won't be as cool as old school B&W bodies dolled up with CGI accents and plopped into a dazzling CGI world.

the only thing I can foresee from a modern Tron story is one based around the net, perhaps a rouge program (virus) that threatens world wide systems crashes. As for how technology has become a part of everyday life...I just don't see how a story about a program that has to keep his/her users porn separate from their "public" pictures and ripped Jay-Z tunes on their iPhone as being that interesting.

It actually pulls you OUT of the story. I enjoyed BEOWULF much more at home than on IMAX 3D. So I really hope we can get to see these movies on a normal, you know, popcorn cinema. And the guys who are pioneering 3D - make sure you get NORMAL (not just film geek) audiences in and ask them how they feel after a 3D feature. If they feel sick, you need to go back to the drawing board.
