Buh-Bye Titan, Wolf & Hellga!! NBC’s AMERICAN GLADIATORS Has Scaled Its Last Cargo Net!!

While "Wipeout" and its giant red balls are bringing monster numbers to ABC (it will serve as counterprogramming during and after NBC's Super Bowl telecast), the Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd says NBC has quietly cancelled “American Gladiators” thanks to its plummeting summer ratings.
He also reports that we’ll never get that fourth installment of CBS’ “EliteXC Saturday Night Fights” and that ABC’s “According To Jim” will probably be gone for good as well after fresh episodes air this summer.

Hollywood Yates was very entertaining. He started hearing Dylan a little when he wore the fangs in the second season, however. And Gina Carano was the hottest female Gladiator ever.

How the fuck that show lasted for however long it did is a mystery. I'm thinking the producers had pictures of studio executives dressed in female clothing going down on goats.

Gina was pretty much the only reason I would tune in every now and again. Part of the problem with the show is that it seemed far too scripted for a supposedly unscripted reality show. That and IMO it needed a harder edge. And more Gina Carano doing scissor leg holds <3

It was exactly what it tried to be, a fun summer series about people running through obstacles courses while giants tried to squash them. If you find something wrong with that, sucks to be you. It is not like this was keeping something GOOD from being broadcast.

Someone will find something for her to do. A hot chick that can actually kick your ass?? Too good to pass up. -

the company shut down days after the disaster that happened last time where their cash cow Kimbo Slice got exposed as a fraud on national TV and the guy who beat him came out and said that he was offered money by the company to not try his best in the fight by keeping it standing instead of bringing submissions into it as striking was supposedly Kimbo's stong suit

AG was entertaining until some of the Gladiators got their ass handed to them by guys half their size. They talked too much, and after a while the whole schtick got redundant.And that fat referee? That guy was a riot! It looked like that fat zebra was practicing his lines before and tried out new stances - Are the contenderssss... READY?! HEH! LMAO! Give that guy a freakin' show!Now Gina, and that Phoenix chic, oh yeah, that will work.

I loved the original because the Gladiators weren't overtly gay, and the events were actually difficult. Why NBC felt the need to fuck up the tried and true formula is beyond me, but it's no surprise the damn thing tanked. And I liked it better when the announcers were seen and not heard. There is something wrong when the damn play by play people are getting more face time then the actual events themselves. I had that exact same problem with the last winter Olympics. They'd spend 4 minutes showing this behind the scenes montage of the athlete, only to have them DQ right out of the gate or get their hat's handed to them by the competition.

The reality show Gina was in was called Fight Girls. Kind of the female version of the UFC's Ultimate Fighter show, except the participants were there strictly for muay thai.

I loved the new American gladiators. I hope it can move into syndication or something with new episodes. Wolf and Titan were great showmen, especially Wolf. Crush and Helga were awesome and I'd love to get into a love sandwich between them. So sad.

I work in a hotel and i was visiting with a MMA guy who was staying here who told me to watch an upcoming UFC Ultimate Fighter season to be entirly female based as theye are trying to devolp a female divisondon't know the truth to that, but I could see it happening now that she is off AG

UFC owners have said they won't do female MMA because there is not a big enough market. Too bad for Gina, because she was a female OLEG.

Gladiators took me back to the early 90s. It's not a travesty but it was a nice stroll down memory lane. It should've stuck with the summer slot.

I think in the old American Gladiators, they used to have to run the treadmill uphill at the start of the Eliminator while they were still a bit fresh. This one was just a clusterfuck at the end and NOBODY could get up it at all. Say what you will about the show and it's degrading effect upon society and all, but people falling down uphill and sliding back to the bottom and having to do it again and again while totally exhausted was AWESOME!

American Gladiators wasn't great.. but it was fun and way better than the crap they have on now anyway! KEEP IT!

Gina Carano was the bees knees and all of the guy Gladiators were hilarious. So much for women doing athletic things in prime time -- even ridiculous AG stunts were better than nothing. Maybe it will go back to Saturday mornings.

i honestly thought According to Jim was canceled like ten years ago. Wow. The best part of AG was that they didn't update the format, obstacles, costumes or anything from twenty years ago. Just carted the stuff out of storage and hired gay porn actors.

Yes, it looked like every square inch of the set was covered in red, white, and/or blue padding, but if you look at the tapes again (and again) you will see that there were parts of the set where there was no padding at all! If the set had more padding, and if the contestants were reguired to wear protection from head to toe, then maybe NNC could have saved the show. What a loss...
