TR2N's DP Talks 3-D, Physicality Over Virtual, And More!!

Over on BlogTalkRadio, Movie Geeks United (a streaming radio show) has a lengthy interview with cinematographer Claudio Miranda about his work on BENJAMIN BUTTON.
Towards the end of his segment, Miranda reveals he's the DP on TR2N, 2RON, T2RON, TRON 2, TRON 2.0, TRZ, TRON 2 (HATERS ZERO), or whatever else it's being called these days.
Claudio confirms the film will be shot entirely entirely in 3-D (revealed HERE on AICN yesterday), and says many physical sets are being built. Paraphrasing: this is one of the reasons Miranda took the gig as DP on the film. He was worried that actors would be surrounded by nothing but green screens & "not be able to touch anything", but this isn't the case. Miranda says there's a "reality" to what they want to show with the film, and how they want to make it.

Or even 'Tron 2.0'Please don't use 'TR2N' though. That looks pants.It's not as if you can say it that way. You're going to ask for tickets to see Tron 2 aren't you? Unless you're really geeky and plan to say Trotooen.If they go with that title then this here now will be the last time ever that I write TR2N. I'm calling it Tron 2 from this point on. Much in the same way that I refuse to write Seven.

Seriously, I am pretty excited at this point, lets hope that Disney takes it "somewhat" seriously like the first one and doesn't allow it to be dumbed down like a crappy Pirates sequel. -

He did the Tron 2.0 video game a few years back. Bridges being signed on is the big news.
I'm really hoping they use David Warner (Sark) in some capacity. When you sit back and watch Tron for it's characters, the importance of David's performance to success of the story is easily apparent. -
This film may escape the 300 Blank Acting Syndrome that effects so many films these days. Cool choice of DP.

If you saw the promo footage you'll know why they used TR2N - it actually looks really cool as part of the logo.

I am old enough to have had the pleasure of seeing the original Tron work its particular brand of terrible on the 'small screen' as a child. There was a brief time when people opened shops where you would rent a movie and they would play it to a VCR in a room full of like couches and chairs for you to watch it in on a standard TV set. Some of them even sold popcorn and standard movie fare, but most of them were holes in the wall where mostly us kids would go to watch R-rated stuff our parents wouldn't let us see. Hence that warning on DVDs to this day about showing the film for profit. Anyway, this 'sequel' couldn't possibly be any worse than the original, so I say go for it...

I am old enough to remember seeing Tron in an actual movie theatre on opening weekend! I was, like, 9 or 10, making me waaaaaay too old to be here, but here I am. Also, Star Wars was the first movie I saw in the theatre as a child; hence the pavlovian response I have to nearly all things Star Wars (even the stuff that sucks).

Old Flynn's gonna f*&k it up, baby! I can't want to see how JB (after he played the Dude) will take Flynn to the next level. He didn't seem like the greedy type in the first film, but he was vindictive...after all, he was doing a little hacking here and there, to get proof he created Space Paranoids, etc...so he was in it for the money, and maybe he gotten even more greedy???
