Barry Sonnenfeld, director of the “Men In Black” movies, will make a return to extraterrestrial comedy with “The How-To Guide for Saving the World,” about an unlikely hero who finds himself trying to employ the titular manual.
The script is by BenDavid Grabinski, who tells AICN exclusively he has heard of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and downplays any similarities: "It's more like a romantic comedy that gets derailed by car chases, explosions, and an impending alien invasion. Tonally, it's a whole different animal."
Sonnenfeld’s last big-screen directorial effort was 2006’s Robin Williams vehicle “RV,” written by Geoff Rodkey (“Daddy Day Care,” “Daddy Day Camp,” “The Shaggy Dog”).
Sonnenfeld’s other diectorial credits include the two “Addams Family” movies, “Get Shorty,” “Wild Wild West” and “Big Trouble.”
