HOUSE Girl Olivia Wilde To Star In TR2N!!
I am – Hercules!!
Months after showing everybody its teaser trailer, “TR2N” is starting to cast human actors.
Olivia Wilde, who played Marissa Cooper’s lesbian love on “The OC” before turning up on “House” as Candidate 13 last season, is all aboard.
She's pretty!
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film.
Wilde was two years from being born when the original "TRON" hit cinemas in 1982.
Also cast is Wilde's "Turistas" co-star Beau Garrett ("Made of Honor," "Rise of the Silver Surfer"), who will play "a siren in the virtual world."
Jeff Bridges reprises the role of Kevin Flynn in the sci-fi sequel, due out in 2011.

of that movie is "Se7en". Yes, I realize that that is exactly how that title is shown in the opening credits. Nevertheless, when recommending this movie to friends, no one ever says "you really ought to watch Se-seven-en." We don't CALL the movie "Se-seven-en." It's fucking "Seven". I've never heard about the "Se-seven-en Deadly Sins". No one in the movie ever refers to the "Se-Seven-en Daedly Sins." As far as I'm concerned, the movie's title is goddamn "Seven", even the opening credits say otherwise. Having Said that, they can call this movie "Tr2n" if they want to. It's still going to be UNDERSTOOD as being "Tron 2", even if it officially ends up being released as "Tr2n".

I love it too, but I don't recall it EVER being about quality acting or a dark/brooding story. I recall it being about stunning visuals and a fun CHILDREN'S adventure, following the whole Joseph Campbell hero-cycle thing (as prominently featured in Star Wars). I can recall these things because I saw it in the theatre as a child and responded to it as a child would. Later on, buying the dvd, I was not surprised to find that I didn't realize how funny, campy, and silly it actually is, how bad the acting, how thin the plot, you know, HAVING GROWN UP and developing a different, more mature, perspective on the films of my youth. I hope that, one day, you achieve this level of maturity, or, failing that, are able to retreat into a kind of hermetic madness suited specifically for the eternally angry (and, presumably fat) adolescent which one assumes is your ultimate fate. Unless there is no fate but what you make! Ooooooooooh! Deeeeeeeeeeep! Hahahahahahaha!!!

I finally decided to watch an episode (the one where Wilde's character keeps injecting herself at the command of a sick guy holding her and House hostage) and it was absurd! Hugh Laurie 's acting reminded me of Shatner's from Star Trek and the situations were beyond impossible. I honestly thought it was awfully bad television (but in terms of an over-the-top drama I can see how people might enjoy it and I couldn't judge the series from one episode.) To be fair, my wife is a doctor and it is even harder to watch medical shows around her when they get it wrong.

Because TRON was always about Shakespearian quality acting and deep meditations on human drama. Jackass. TRON is a purely visual experience with a wafer thin plot designed as a frame to carry the visuals (and hopefully sell toys and videogames to children). HENCE, visuals, such as physical beauty and efx, are the most important and everything else is second place. Again, I put forward the following: have you ever seen TRON? And if you have, can you really defend it as anything more than a beautiful visual experience with a children's adventure movie plot? If you can, then please direct me to the pills you are taking because I would like to leave reality too.

Of course Disney were more concerned about the ground-breaking technology and less concerned about the performances of the actors. At no point in my previous comment did I disagree with you on this or even mention it for that matter. My point was, and I believe it was a simple one to understand, just because Motoko said he'd like the actors to perform well and not necessarily be 'beauty wannabes', you immediately assumed he must be gay. I still don't get your reasoning. Your style of arguing is hardly that of someone with a 'mature perspective'. Yours truly, a 'jackass'.

That is funny! I always ask lawyers and cops when I meet them if they watch Law & Order (which ironically my wife loves.)
I wondered about that particular episode of House. I'm curious enough to give another one a try and might like it more knowing what to expect. -
because they really do frequently pull the miracle diagnosis out of their ass. But I think I enjoy the general character dynamics and subplots more than the diagnosis itself--which is probably another reason that episode was pretty poor. Most of the auxiliary characters were kept out and it was focusing too heavily on the diagnosis drama.
If you happen to watch another episode in the near future, also skip the "Christmas Episode" that involved a "virgin birth." It was another low point of the season. Other than that, you might be pleasantly surprised. If not, it wasn't meant to be!
On a side note, Law and Order's pretty good--and unbelievably enough, My Cousin Vinny is overall fairly believable.
The court scenes in Bee Movie, on the other hand, are rubbish..heh.. -
Its been a long and adventurous 24 hours since I submitted a review to AICN, so to catch you all up on my credentials as an earth moving literary genius, I'll spend a few paragraphs talking about myself.
When we last left the auto/bio portion of my review, I was writing about The Spirit. Well since then, it has been quite a ride. I made myself some supper and am happy to report that Steak-Ums fry up just fine in the microwave. You'd NEVER KNOW they weren't fried in an actual pan (look for my Steak-Ums review later this week!). So I sliced some tomato and diced some onion but here's a twist - I grated some lettuce. Trust me on this, a Steak-Ums sandwich insists on shredded lettuce. Then I retired to my in-home theater room where I keep my Dynex brand 37" Malaysian LCD television because nothing says quality electronics like asian political prisoners with their tiny fingers and good eyesight. I popped in a copy of Jersey Girl because nothing says 'bad movie night' like a moderately entertaining movie. I invited my formerly live-in but currently live-out partner over since he's always up for a theatrical equivalent of a violent and often deadly sexual act (HAHAHA RIGHT?). I go with the Orville Reddenbacker popcorn in a big blue bowl - big enough for a few hands without that awkward knuckle nuzzling that always seems to happen when he's over.
After the movie and a bit of rough foreplay, I wrap muyself up in my blue Snuggie over top of my v neck sweater over top of my button down shirt overtop of the hard globs of red candle wax over top of my mohair covered chest with a teacup of twinings and a phone book until bed time. I like reading the phone book - its so long, and full of words that have little to no relation to one another in any proper grammatical sense. I keep a whole stack of them around to remind me that if nothing else, I can write better reviews than the phone book guy. Also, it gives all 15 cats a place to perch and curl. Speaking of purch and curl, I took a moment to evacuate myself on the toilet - I always go with the bargain tissue because I was told once by a plumber that Charmin can actually break your toilet - and because I live on the side of a rediculously overpriced cliff wall, I have to use a grinder and Charmin can cause thousands of dollars to a grinder. If you dont know what a grinder is, its like a giant blender for your poop, so that it can easily be pumped uphill to the metro sewer lines.
Then I woke up, created a talkback account with a horribly spelled version of Keyser Soze (im pretty sure Im the only Keyser Soze on AICN, right?) and proceeded to give the negative nellys in the talkback a piece of my mind. They weren't prepared. I wasted them with my razor sharp wit and galactic sized vocabulary. Then I saw and advanced screening of Tr2n but I cannot DARE tell you how I did that or where or when or why. But it was real - it happened. So without further ado, here's the actual review portion of my review:

1) 13 is hot. Also, I like her character, though her recent relationship with Foreman seemes forced. 2) Although I know they pull a lot of unrealistic stuff on that show (no one ever comes back from a brain surgery with a shaved head, for instance), but I love the dynamic between the characters, esp House and Wilson.3) I frickin' love House. What if Sherlock Holmes was a doctor and a total asshole? Add more drugs and you get Greg House.

Yeah, she's okay, if also a surfboard. I'll take Cameron anyday. Frank Black, this season has been a bit iffy. For the true taste of the series, watch most any ep from the first 3 seasons. My favs are Son of a Coma Guy, DNR, 3 Cases, One Room One Day, and the 2 parter that ended last season was pretty good.

She's got too much of a "Guest Babe on McGyver" vibe about her. I'd much rather have the other chick from House. A movie like TR2N doesn't need supermodels. The CGI will be "more perfect than perfect" as it is. The humans should be gritty and 'down-to-earth' as a contrast to all the pretty CGI.

Here's an episode suggestion. You might want to watch an episode entitled "Three Stories", it's from the first season second to last episode. In my opinion, it might be the best episode of the entire series.

The voice of the MCP that is, don't know who played the old man glimpsed briefly at the end of the movie under the MCP, but it was Warner's voice amped up (and I'm pretty sure it's credited somewhere). Try research. Plus you can hear it.

Remember in the Tron universe the program looks like the "user" who created it - so Tron looked like Boxlietner's RL character (I forget his name) and the program in the opening sequence looked like Flynn...
MCP (and Sark) was created by Warner's character - you can see where I'm going with this, right?
Not sure I remember an old man at the end? You sure you're not confusing the MCP with the IO program when Tron needs to contact his user? Obviously that program was created by the old guy who formed the company in his garage (ahem) with Warner since he looked like him - you know, the guy doing the teleportation experiment with the orange which is how Flynn ends up in the system...
Anyway, I hope it's not too late for them to change the title - because TR2N sucks dogs balls! T2ON I could forgive. I think TRON 2.0 was a game? -
When the MCP ** SPOILER if anyone reading this hasn't seen the movie ** has been struck by TRON's disc and its spinning is slowing down and stops, there is an old man revealed at the center. I think his face recedes into shadow.
