THE PHANTOM Gets Modernized In THE PHANTOM LEGACY!?

This sounds suspiciously like the kind of project that may never get off the ground. Still... Seems a sequel/successor to 1996's (Simon Wincer-directed) THE PHANTOM is in the works. An Australian production company has secured the rights to THE PHANTOM LEGACY, which it hopes to producer in Australia.

The latest adaptation, which is expected to cost $87 million, will focus on "the Father/Son relationship, and what it means to be The Phantom," scriptwriter Tim Boyle said in a statement. "The film will be set in the present day and will deal with the concept of destiny."
