I love Alex Proyas by default since he's the guy who made The Crow. He needs to be given a Superman movie, or some comic book franchise.

i like proyas, (i even liked i,robot) and the plot sounds interesting. (nic cage isnt physic he figures out a code from a time capsule that predicts every major disaster, with the death toll.) but man, i agree with zom-bot.com. it is getting hard to take nic cage seriously. (and after Adaptation i started to think he could do no wrong.) i hope this movie changes my mind again.

    Proyas

    by cobbio

I'm a big fan of Alex Proyas, so I hope he hits one out of the park with "Knowing."
His last directorial venture, "I, Robot" was a neutered, popcorny flick completely lacking real dramatic focus, but apparently the studio messed with Proyas big time on that project, so hopefully "Knowing" is a return to his classic roots.
Also, as others have mentioned, I fucking hope Cage put some effort into this role. Because he's been milktoast for a long time now. "Lord of War" was a pretty solid film, but that's been it for him. I hope he pulled on his "good Nick Cage" suit and got down and dirty emotional again.
This film could be pretty sweet.

When I was an intern back in 05, I read this script.

    by novaman5000

It was still being shopped around at the time and honestly, it's one of the only ones I got to read that summer that i actually enjoyed.
That's not to say it's a masterpiece... It's not. Some of the character's fates, one in particular, is kind of out of left field, the ending gets a little out there and the final disaster is kind of... extreme, veering more from thriller into sci-fi, but it was a decent read and will probably make a fun film.
I told my then-boss I liked it and he agreed but said that they were looking for lighter fare (i.e. family movies). Good to know someone picked it up, and while I'm aware of the amount of changes and studio meddling that the draft could have undergone since 05, I'm actually looking forward to this one.

    by zom-bot.com

anything with a sapce capsule probably has my ticket or at least my cable On Demand $4.99. i just really hope the end doesn't involve saving the entire world, as the poster implies. because i am reallllllly tired of the world getting saved in every sci-fi movie or tv show, every episode.

this will no doubt be a very unpopular opinion, but I dug the hell out of the National Treasure movies - and I thought he was great in em -and his hair wasn't stupid (much) either!
sure, we're not talking high friggin prose here and I get all the contrivances and inaccuracies and blablabla - but dammit, they were both such fun rides and played with just enough tongue in cheek (for me at least) to enjoy them.
    there - I said it

Is there an online version of the script somewhere? It's a somewhat interesting premise but I'm deadly allergic to Nicolas Cage movies. hehe And I'm more curious now that my "the numbers stopped because she ran out of paper or she can't predict beyond her own death" theory is all shot to hell.
