Internet Version Of LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON Launches Next Week!!

Jimmy Fallon, who takes over the broadcast version of NBC’s “Late Night” from Conan O’Brien in March or April, is debuting his version of the show 12:30 Tuesday morning via the Internet, according to Broadcasting & Cable.
The plan to give “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” a soft launch via the Web was announced by executive producer Lorne Michaels back in July, but the start date was unknown before now.

No matter what the NBC suits say, the reality is that they're probably doing the soft launch b/c they have zero confidence that people will take to Fallon. I'm equally skeptical about the Leno to Conan transition. I'm guessing we'll be seeing "The NBC Late Night Movie", right after an extended late news sometime after Feb sweeps.

So what? Are those watching the internet at 12:30 the same people watching NBC at the same time? No. What happens when he starts doing the show? Will it also be streamed live on the internet to accommodate those who have gotten "used to seeing Fallon every night at 12:30"?Will he be doing interviews on these webcasts? I wonder who the guests will be and how thrilled they will be to be on an beta internet talkshow. How's that career workin' for you?

This is like Spring Training for talk show hosts. They know fallon ain't got a clue so they can use this time to get him semi-presentable before he comes on to TV. You see the time he filled in for Letterman? The guy was a horrendous interviewer and he's hopped on red bull or something cuz he's tappin a pencil every freakin second. The guy is terrible. NBC should have made an inspired choice not this hack.

I think most people who say Conan is unwatchable are talking about Conan himself, not the show. His itchy spastic manner is painful to watch. He throws out ideas and stories on air like he's in a writers room, which is where he has always belonged. The show has survived because they have some funny writing and supporting characters like Smigel. Maybe some of that writing is due to Conan, but I can't help but think how enjoyable the show would be if the host was funny and likeable. Conan is gonna have to change his manner if he wants to hold the over 25 viewers at 11:30.
