New Sulu Joins Cast Of ABC Sci-Fi Pilot FLASH FORWARD!!

I am – Hercules!!

Joseph Fiennes (“Shakespeare in Love,” “Enemy At The Gates”) and John Cho (J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek,” the “Harold & Kumar” franchise) have been added to the cast of ABC’s sci-fi pilot “Flash Forward,” joining Courtney B. Vance (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”) and Jack Davenport (“Swingtown”).

David S. Goyer (“Blade: The Series”) and Brannon Braga (“Star Trek: Enterprise”) – who earlier collaborated on CBS’ short-lived alien-invasion drama “Threshold” – scripted “Flash Forward,” based on the sci-fi novel by Robert J. Sawyer.

The book is about what happens when physicists, conducting a super-high-energy experiment, accidentally cause everyone on Earth to experience two minutes and 17 seconds of his or her own future 21 years hence. A lot of people were driving cars when their consciousnesses left their bodies for more than two minutes, so the experience is memorable for many reasons.

The Hollywood Reporter describes:

The project centers on Mark Banford (Fiennes), an FBI agent who is patching up his life and his marriage after winning a long struggle with the bottle. Disturbed by the harrowing premonition during his blackout, he races to unravel the mystery, fearful of the murky future that might spell disaster for himself and his loved ones.

Cho will play Dominic Witten, a dedicated FBI agent who is Mark's partner and friend. His experience while unconscious was an absolute blank, which doesn't bode well for his own future as he realizes he might be murdered.

Goyer, who wrote and directed “Blade: Trinity,” will direct the pilot.

    Sci-Fi on network TV

    by heckles

For whatever reason, you have to trick people to watch sci-fi on the big four networks. Try to some die-hard people that 'Lost' is sci-fi and they get pissed. Mystery first, then toss in the sci-fi element when they're hooked on the flimsy open-ended premise. It's gold, Jerry! Gold!

is this any more information on this show?

    by moseschrute

not that I care to learn any more about it. doesn't sound particularly interesting to me, especially with goyer and bragga involved. I'm just tired of reading the same stupid synopsis over and over again.

    by shiftyeyeddog2

especially Fiennes, who has been criminally underused since Shakespeare in Love.
...so yeah, I'm sure they will cancel it.

A show in which FBI partners race against time to solve mysteries...how do they think these things up? These TV execs really do earn their money! Looking forward to the next hospital drama and police procedural as well! Well used formulas are great!

Finally! Hollywood is noticing Robert J. Sawyer

    by pdorwick

He might be our greatest living Sci-Fi writer and his books are perfect templates for smart, thoughtful yet action filled movies. I hope they hit this one out of the park so more producers will take notice.

    by zacdilone

The book is great...good, thoughtful sci-fi with a healthy dose of philosophy thrown in for good measure. This, on the other hand, sounds lame. Read the book--it has nothing to do with this FBI crap.

Plots like this don't work for multiple seasons

    by norm

Okay, everyone gets a glimpse forward, and then what? This type of plot is done so often. Something big and mysterious happens, everyone runs around figuring it out, and by the end of season 1 it's done.

Or it's Voyager, and they spend 7 years resolving the event of the pilot, which gets old real fast.

If they do it like Lost, where the mystery keeps growing then it could have legs. But I hate time travel stories. They never turn out well.

Love the book, Love Robert J Sawyer's writings, but this series.

    by regicidal_maniac

WILL alomst certainly suck balls. UNLESS it is a limited series. HOWEVER, since it is an American show it will drag on until cancellation. WHICH will happen about one & a half seasons AFTER it has overstayed its welcome. TOO BAD, because it's a good story.
