Bryan Fuller To Rejoin NBC’s HEROES With 3.20??

It looks like “Pushing Daisies” mastermind Bryan Fuller is about to sign a two-year deal with NBC Universal, and his first job will be working on the final three episodes of “Heroes’” current season.
Fuller wrote the best episodes of “Heroes’” first, best season, including the Noah Bennet-centric “Company Man.” Fuller left “Heroes” late in its first season to create “Daisies” -- and “Heroes” has been a confusing mess ever since, confounding fans and critics and currently garnering about half as many viewers as it did during Fuller’s tenure on the show.
Despite “Heroes’" substantial declines, there are still few shows as popular on NBC, whose current slate includes even lower-rated fare like “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Knight Rider,” “Crusoe,” “Life,” “Lipstick Jungle,” “My Name Is Earl,” “Kath & Kim,” and “Law & Order.”
As a result, the network seems likely to renew the sci-fi drama for a fourth season, with Fuller playing a more prominent role in the franchise’s creative direction.
Fuller's signing with NBC Universal would surely signal the death of ratings-challenged "Daisies." It's hard to imagine ABC bringing back the black comedy for a third season without the man who provided its vision.
Before joining "Heroes," Fuller created the acclaimed but short-lived comedy hourlongs "Dead Like Me" and "Wonderfalls."

granted, tuesday nites show was a bit better, in that they connected the first to the third season...but mostly, it remains a confusing mess...let fuller totally take over...he cant do worse....although i think its pretty cool that despite a world wide 2 hour long eclipse, not one person in the world freaked out...oh, and as to the writer who thinks that reading comics means you havent grown up...FUCK YOU...FUCK YOU HARD

My friend looked over at me and said "you look upset, you didn't like the episode?" I just responded by shaking my head and saying "fuck ABC and the American Viewing Public".
With that said, I really hope Fuller can turn Heroes around. I was actually ANGRY after watching Eclipse pt 2 this week. Really Heroes?? All the time WASTED on developing Sylar on this path of redemption and then wasting more time on developing a relationship between him and Elle just to have him off her on the beach?? Really??? Lets pick a character arc and go with it. -
If Fuller does have the upper hand (and it seems that he does: Two writers gone and twindling ratings due to poor quality), he should try to negotiate a deal with Universal to greenlight a Daisies movie. They could release it straight to DVD or even the web for all I care. I JUST WANT CLOSURE.

I like almost all of the characters but the plot had become a huge, tangled mess. Nowadays I'm enjoying The Sarah Connor Chronicles and (the hugely underrated) Fringe far more than Heores.

It's going to be hard to repair the massive damage they have done to the show, it's characters and story in his absence. I vote they kill off 80-90% of the current cast, and have a quasi reboot. Maybe this time it will have something to do with super powered humans using their powers for good and/or evil. Because that really hasn't been touched on yet by this show.

This past episode had very good pacing, put there is just too much "Huh??!!" stuff. Like who the hell is deciding what to do with these characters? I can deal with plot holes. But the constantly changing personalities of Nathan / Sylar / Peter are just baffling. What? Nathan wants to help his evil father give everyone powers now? Sylar just ups and kills (we assume) Elle who he's started to turn around with?? I mean, WTF??!!

Didn't they just fire two of the lead writers amid complaints of it being too expensive ($4 million an episode!) and ratings dropping?
If it comes back, it's going to be drastically retooled. I wouldn't complain about Kring getting forced off and Fuller taking control. Though that didn't help Voyager... -

from the first episode of 2nd season, it was clear Fuller was an integral part of why season 1 was so great. even though I don't think Heroes is as bad right now as people think, and this season is much better than the 2nd one, I'm still really excited about this.

I pushed through the 2nd season, and I said I'd give the 3rd season a 3 episode run to see how it goes. I gave it more actually, and it just keeps getting worse. It's like a slow motion train wreck that I can't avert my eyes.
So after monday's completely stupid episode. I have finally thrown my hands up and said enough is enough.
Do they seriously expect us to swallow that there is a full eclipse everywhere in the world at once?
Or that Noah would be so stupid as to think that the powers going away would be permanent
Or that Mohinder is looking for a cure he developed in season 1
Or that Papa Patrelli and all the old-timers have NEVER been through a solar eclipse before, what about the one that occurred 2 years earlier that gave people like daphne their powers.

Why does Nathan go from doing the "right" thing to being a pussy. It seems that the show wants to continue this brother vs brother thing.
The list goes on, and I am so sick of banging my head against the wall. Goodbye HEROES, you had more then your fair chance, but you continue to screw things up, and not just badly, but just so so unbelievably terribly, that I can't believe well payed writers and outputting this crap. It's a joke

Yes, I know Flashbacks were invented before fucking Lost did it, thank you for the update. But, considering how much the shows were compared when Heroes first showed up, you'd figure the flashback structure to enlighten the character's background intercut with their modern day story would have been avoided. Great episode, dug it alot, but I think it's very telling that, structurally, it got it all from the very show everyone was comparing it to.

One other thing, why did they Ret-con Sylar's Past. Originally Mohinder's Dad found Sylar through his research. He worked with Sylar to develop his powers, and Sylar became hungry with killing people to take their powers. Eventually killing Mohinder's dad.
However now Elle and Noah find him with Powers, and they turn him into a monster (for what reason? that's just left out there.) This of course is to force the Elle / Sylar love fest, which has no end result, because Sylar for some reason kills Elle.
Which also makes no sense, because last time he tried that, Elle did a mega blast and knocked him out, but this time she couldn't.

I agree! I hated VOYAGER, but that whole black-and-white 40's movie serial feel of the episode was awesome. The killer robot was sweet, and so was the lightning shield. The only problem with the episode is the part where Janeway opens the container of pheromones, it totally looks like she's cutting the cheese as the fumes emanate from behind her and take out that henchman. Egg salad, anyone?

I find it odd that an eclipse lasting maybe 10 mins in totality took about 2 hrs,
Time enough for Clair to get shot, be driven home, get patched up, watch Daddy Noah leave, go into shock, get driven to hospital, get checked up and maybe stabalized, then die after cops show up to ask questions.
Time enough for Noah to get a sniper riffle, aim it at Sylar, watch Sylar and Elle have sex, then shoot the riffle at Sylar only after Sylar would see it coming, walk all over town I assume, looking for Elle and Sylar and then kill him.
But then again the same could be said about every one on the show, Nathan in Haiti and so on.
Kill Nathan, Clair, the new ice queen and Mohinder since they are a waste of time. Stop making Hiro such a pussy because he can fix timelines. Have Peter actually save real people instead of fighting his family or memory loss.
FUCK!!!!! now that I write this I realize this show sucks. Villians do do any villiaming, just sit around and listen to Daddy Patrelli. I rather watch my black donnellys dvd because that was better writen then this.

Yes, Kring needs to be fired. Though he created the series, it's become very apparent he is simply not interested in the superhero genre -- he has a veiled contempt for it. As a concession to him, NBC should give Kring a couple of pilot deals -- maybe Kring will develop another series that he would be more into.But the bottom line is this: NBC, don't bother renewing Heroes unless Kring is off this show.

The cliffhanger to Eclipse pt.1: Noah, looking at Sylar and Elle through a sniper rifle, with a clear shot. I figure "Right, this is cool, I'll give this show one more chance." Open this week's show to find that Noah apparently sat there and watched them have sex before deciding to take a shot, and missing. Many more dumb mistakes were made in this episode, but I had my decision by then.

Why waste your time with this??? Heroes has run its course, and is dead!!! I just saw my first episode of Daisies and it was pretty great, like Pee Herman's Big Adventure meets Beetle Juice...(although I don't like the gore stuff...the horror make-up), something that hurt the show, I think. While watching last night's episode, I thought, wouldn't it be cool for someone to hire the creators of this show to do a super hero movie that looks like this--the camera moves, the editing, the dialogue, etc., a "The Flash" movie would look great under such a creative force. I know some would say that Tim Burton did that with the first Batman movie and its first sequel, but no, the Tim Burton who did Pee Wee and Beetle Juice didn't seem to show-up for Batman, which was largely silly and had no depth or substance???That said, Mr. Fuller...I would rather see you do films and bring some of the magic that you brought to Daisies to film...and perhaps a whole new series, but Heroes has run its course. Quite frankly, n terms of characters and plot, I can't tell who's who, and who is doing what, and to whom, on the show anymore, nor do I care. Too much is going on, on the show, there are too many characters, and too many B, C, D, E, F, G...H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, etc., story arcs going on to focus one's thoughts on, as a veiwer...so I have officially given-up on the show, and all its many plot twists, that are now so numerous that it is becoming laughable. At this point, the show, as well as the plots, are so out of control and directionless, I couldn't even begin to explain the plot to anyone, even if I wanted to, and neither could anyone else??? the first season was simple to understand, "Save The Cheerleader, Save The World"...that is all you needed to know, but now, it's a pseudo intellectual maze!!!Please Mr. Fuller, just steer clear of this show, as it is a mess, and a lost cause. Instead, give us something new and inventive in its place. Why soil your reputation with a sinking ship...because next, they will be blaming you for the failure of this show, in order to pass the buck!!!But if you do go through with this, here is my advice, kill off 80 percent of the character cast in the season finale, and keep them dead, including, and especially, Sylar, who should have stayed dead after the conclusion of the first season!!!

2)WRITING THAT AT LEAST HAS SOME REALISTIC/CREDIBLE APPEAL
3)GET RID OF CHARACTERS THAT JUST WEIGH DOWN THE SHOW
4)WHEN YOU BRING IN A NEW CHARACTER, MAKE SURE HE IS INTERESTING AND IF HE IS, DO NOT KILL HIM OFF AFTER A FEW EPISODES
5)DON'T MAKE A CHARACTER GOOD/EVIL REBOOT ON EACH EPISODE
6)BRING IN WRITERS THAT ACTUALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE SHOW AND HAVE A CLUE ABOUT SUPERHEROES E.T.C -

HRG had theshot at end of last weeks show, but he gives 'em time to screw? Nathan can use his powers while the Haitian is around? Why did they even bother with the Haitian subplot anyways? And WHO IN THE HELL THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE SYLAR EVIL AGAIN? Furthermore, who's bright idea was to have him kill Elle...out of the blue like that? There's no consistancy to the face/heel turns with that character, and because it's happened so much over the last month or so, when he did the deed, it had no impact other than anger that they can't handle the simpliest of things. Yeah, I'm sure they had to write Bell out, but gawd damn it didn't have to come at the expense of screwing up the best thing they had going with Sylar turning face. And they didn't have to taint the best arc the series has ever saw. The beginning of the Syguy/Ellectro partnership at Pinehearst was incredible. But they fucked it up.

By the way, Heroes is still in the top 20, and, please explain to me why this season is so bad? I am not getting it! This season is much better than last. Also, the first season had some seriously flawed episodes. So, while we may trash Heroes ratings and quality, it still is being watched by more than a few, and its episodes are far more compelling than last year.

Unless I'm not understanding what you're referencing, the Haitian doesn't AUTOMATICALLY shut off powers. In Season 1, I think he shut off Hiro's power while simultaneously allowing Parkman to read his mind (in the dystopian future episode).So Nathan could do his E. Honda attack while the Haitian's in the area.As for Sylar, as far as I'm concerned, Hiro killed him at the end of Season 1 (and didn't give him a full five seconds to stop himself from being stabbed). Nothing anybody has to say can convince me otherwise.

I really like Season 3, but I've had to forgive a lot of things to do so (bringing back Adam Monroe just to kill him two episodes later...Arthur making Hiro a child instead of killing him...things like that).The question one has to ask is, which do you focus on with this season...the good or the bad?Seems a lot of people here have focused on the bad. I can't fault them for that, even though I'm seeing this season differently.

But it'll rock more with him. If you disagree and want a reboot, I think you're a fool and have no idea of how television works. Rebooting would cost MORE money to do than they're currently spending, with no guarantee you guys would bother watching and/or that they'd keep the near eight millio currently watching.

Doesn't automatically shut off abilities. He selectively does it. For example, in FYG the way he works is that if Future Peter and Future Hiro teleported upstairs, then he could shut off their powers and they'd be pumped full of lead before they could do anything.

Kindly cram all complains about the Eclipse, because they're the same complains you should've had in S1. It was a worldwide event then, people stared into it then, it lasted for ages then. Yes, it's a silly storytelling device... but it's a consistent silly storytelling device.

I simply focus on the show. The show has never been the quality of "Mad Men" or "the Wire" or even "Pushing Daisies." It is a live action comic book. It has also been, for the most part, entertaining. I look at the acting. In the first season, there were strong episodes. However, Ali Larter, as hot as she is, was and still is, terrible. A lot of the first season dealt with her. Even the bad second season was even worse when it dealt with her character. This is not my favorite show by a long shot. I think way too many people are taking this show more serious and literal than they should.

It did, but I'd only be concerned if Heroes got 11 million, because then it'd be obvious that the CBS reruns were the only reason. As it was a short, but comforting, gain then it seems less obviously CBS and more people digging on 310.

How could you possibly fuck up a show like this ? All they needed to do was completely get rid of Hiro Nakamora and time travel, and the show would be 500% more logical. Basically, Heroes broke the cardinal rule of "good" superhero fiction: writing logical, human protagonists and matching them up against clearly "evil" characters. Instead, they just started throwing together horseshit archetypes in a mish mash. Frankly, it's amazing that they can't make this work ... all they had to do was rip off 50 years of comic book plot threads and serialize them.

The problem isn't how long it lasted (that's the least of my problems at the moment), but why it existed. It was basically two episodes of stalling and, in hindsight, there was no point in the eclipse at all as far as I can tell. You might argue that Sylar realised that he couldn't fight his powers when he has them, but the fact that he successfully DID for several episodes totally undermines that.So for me, the eclipse was just yet another stall. The writers really are running out of excuses to stop Hiro and Peter using their powers. It was frustrating in season 1 and now it's just pathetic. The argument that they're too powerful and they need to be kept in check doesn't convince me: if the writers were any good, they could think of tons of good ways to give them all their powers and make a good story. The problem, as always, is the budget and they must be held on a pretty tight leash if they have to keep coming out with so many poor excuses to hold everyone back. Maybe it'll be the antithesis of season 1: a crappy complete season with a kick ass finale.

It wasn't stalling, not entirely. Peter and Nathan's storyline with The Haitian directly set up what'll happen in the finale when Peter tries to stop Nathan from building an army.

There will always be a few hardcore fans who refuse to give up the ghost and blind themselves to the truth that the show is 10 kinds of terrible right now. But lets face it, no one can save this show. It's a bloated, self-serious mess that changes it's own continuity on a whim for the sake of a "wow" moment. Syler had his power long before that season 1 eclipse, as did all the older characters. Obviously an eclipse hadn't done anything to them before. SO why now? Well, the plot calls for it, so we're just gonna make it up as we go along. Infuriating. I like Pushing Daisies, so I hope Fuller stays away from Heroes. It'll end up hurting him at this point.

I just finished season 1 on dvd. It was a very pleasant surprise. Quite original and very good cast (including 'Calamity Jane' from Deadwood). Give it a try.

Claire, Mohinder and Niki/Jessica/Stacy/Whomever need to be killed off because no one has a clue what to do with these characters to make them interesting.
Hiro's character needs to mature beyond simple comic relief, while Noah Bennet needs to become even more of a cold badass. Most importantly, though, is that each of the characters need to have a firm setting that gives them a purpose where storylines can be developed naturally instead of having them be one way one week and another way the next.

any Ali Larter character, Daphne, Knox, Flint, Meredith, the death that's gonna stick is Kristen? Hell's Bell's indeed. Carried the show on her back the last month, KB did. Don't believe me, check out "It's Coming" on Hulu. Stupendous, her performance was in that episode.

Pushing Daisies with utter joy. Lee Pace was amazing. Chi McBride was hilarious. Anna Friel was ultra cute and Kristen Chenoweth had the BEST clevage on TV.
I am so sick of Heroes and the actors who simply cannot act (Hayden being hands down the worst offender).
Kill everyone off that show (except HRG) and hire good people and change the name of the show to "The Company Man" and maybe....just maybe....I will continue watching. -
I dumped Heroes because it wasn't as good as it once was; nor as good once as it ever was (apologies to TK). I never picked up Daisies as it never seemed as good as everybody said it was. Good riddance to both. I'm sure I'll catch PD someday in a SciFi marathon. Speaking of which, no talkback for the final season of SG: Atlantis?

In the last three episodes, most of the characters had a personality overhaul in each one. I wanted this show to succeed so badly. I can't see how they can revive it. Sylar makes no since. Peter is a tool, his brother is a tool. Kill the cheerleader already. Mohinder, was supposed to be the moral core. That is over. Nicki, or who ever she is, should finally kick the can. Who cares about the late 20s 90210 viewers she was aimed for. Noah needs to stop saying clairbear. (resolved by offing her).
Hiro, I love Hiro. He and Ando can't support a whole show on their own.
Atleast Matt didn't die in the first episode or first season like his other ventures. I like him, but two episodes to find your soul mate...come on.

Because they are fanboys, one of 'em with a helluva power. I loved the comic book store stuff this week (and the Seth Green cameo - great!). But Sylar good, Sylar bad; he his the son of, he's not. Yeesh. I'll still watch it, since I watch so few shows now. And why has Supernatural pretty much been ignored here over the past few years? It's been much better than Smallville overall.

Someone makes a fatal mistake and vows to stop using their powers, goes up north and marries margot kidder, then spends the rest of the season walking through the snow oblivious to the threat to the earth?

I will admit that occasionally I get irked by Sylars flip-flopping (I hate that term but it works here), a world-wide two-hour eclipse, Nathans lack of sense-making, and all the others complained about here already. But at the end of the day the show entertains me. It is a comic book show. Comic books have HORRIBLE continuity so what are w complaining about? This aint Sopranos or The Wire here. Its a hour-long drama about superheroes. And the fact is, this season is heads and shoulders above season 2.

The only big problem I had was that I thought Sylar couldn't kill Elle without setting her off, WTF? But I was very happy to see Noah imply that Angela made up the whole Sylar's a Petrelli thing. That's what I was hoping for at the time. I can't stand the good Sylar and this two-parter seems to be rebooting him back to the Sylar we loved. However, he now needs a purpose to his existence.
Fuller coming onboard is bitter sweet since it means the end of Daisies. Still, I can't wait to see what he does with his expanded role. I can now afford to invest myself in this show again. -

You are correct - comic books do have horrible continuity. However, the continuity within a 12-month period, akin to a season of a tv show, is usually good (except Spider-man revealing identity to Brand New Day - that was within a year, wasn't it?). Heroes continuity is akin to comic book continuity changing with each issue. I watch every week and am equally frustrated and flabbergasted at what I see. But it is entertaining. If it gets cancelled I won't really miss it at this point but I will continue to watch until the end (or at least for the rest of the season).

Yeah, it does feel a lot better not even caring any longer, not watching an episode hoping it will get better and just plain not worrying about it. This show long ago passed dead and worthwhile, a shame too, it had potential way back when.

They don't have any real sense of continuity going... so they just need to force the show into a clearer direction and move forward from there. The characters make the show worth watching... well... the characters as they were made in the first season... they need to keep the characters and work on the story.

Disclaimer: I absolutely loved series one of Heroes. Series three has had some good bits, but the last few have pissed over continuity and logic to such an extent that I wonder if its actually written by people that have even *watched* the show before. There were nitpicky inconsistencies or illogic in the first series that I was more than willing to overlook because the ride was so damn fun - but here the ride is turgid, the destination completely unclear and the problems are so in your face and glaring it's impossible for me to give them a pass.
For example:
* WTF is up with this "The eclipse giveth/taketh away their powers" nonsense? In series one, the characters had powers six months before the eclipse - it wasn't a trigger of any kind. If it takes away powers, how come Hiro was able to stop time during the eclipse when he first ended up in Feudal Japan at the start of season 2?
* I didn't care about the eclipse taking place at multiple geographical locations in the very first episode as I thought it was a nice visual touch, and a bit of artistic license. But because this is now so central plot-wise, that kind of glaring inaccuracy is impossible to ignore. FFS.
* How long does a total eclipse actually last? Apparently, several hours... (!)
* How many well-stocked comic stores are there within walking distance of remote Kansan farms?
* Just how many episodes of 9th Wonder did junkie layabout Isaac actually pen? Apparently he's the most prolific (and advance-published) comic book artist in history.
* Why in the flashback episode a couple of weeks ago did they feel the need to piss so freely and needlessly over continuity? For example, why did we have a conversation between HRG and Elle shortly after pushing a remorseful Sylar over the edge (after he had killed only one person), after which HRG *got in the back of Mohinder's cab*! Mohinder only came to New York some time after his father's death at the hands of Sylar...
The show is now so ass-backward it could open its fly to take a dump.

Okay, we got a lot of random characters with a buncha random powers written on each of these poker chips--shake the bag up, pull two out for the "hook up". Sylar and Elle. Cool. Now throw those two chips up in the air, see which one bounces the farthest away: Elle. Okay she gets killed. Reach into the bag, see who kills her. HRG, check. Okay, in this hat we have all the chips for the "dead" characters--reach in, pull one out--PMSica! COOL--she comes BACK. Okay, now pull out two chips--whoever you pick will get changed from good guy to bad guy-----Oh, the pizzas are here!! And we have already got 3 episodes of plot taken care of! Well done, team!!

be playing an insignificant role when Fuller comes on board... Leaving Kring in charge would be like putting shackles on a painter and telling him to paint a masterpiece as someone with no artistic ability tells him what and how he should paint. And what's with the 50 or so producer/exec-producer credits on that show? Heroes can be "saved" the way it is but it'll be a herculean task and the fans will have to give Fuller some leeway as some of the more challenging problems with the series are "swept under the rug". Considering factors like time, budgets, personnel etc into consideration, NBC would have a much better product if they did a reboot and gave Fuller a clean slate. Trying to fix the show the way it is would be like trying to architect a 5-star resort using the framework of a battle ravaged building.

I enjoy "Heroes", but they've spent way too much time in "make-it-up-as-you-go-along" mode this season. The main reason Season 1 rocked so much was this-- the writers knew how they were going to end it right from the first episode. That's the advantage of time-travelers and soothsayers, despite everybody's misgivings about Hiro-- they allow showrunners to anticipate a season's climax ahead of time. This is why the death of Issac was such a mistake-- he's the guy who showed the audience WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN in the future. Right from the start, we knew the show was going to be about people with superpowers trying to stop New York from exploding. Now? It's anybody's guess. My advice-- have a season finale in mind before a season premiere, and telegraph that information as easily as you can from the word "Go".

My son had his first review published in his school newspaper. It dealt with 'Heroes." He felt that it has slipped in the fact that it has too many characters and plot contradictions. He also felt that there were some things that were simply unexplainable. I hope you don't mind, but he thought I should post this.

I still watch Heroes every week and I do enjoy it, but I do agree it has dipped in quality. I agree with StarWarsRedux's post above. As season 1 progressed I remember thinking how well-planned out the whole thing was. But now it is feeling like a hodge-podge of ideas thrown in the mix with no intended direction. I disagree with those who say "Yeah it's really flawed but it's a comic book! Let's forgive it!" Granted, the idea of the show is a bit out there. But season 1 showed that despite a super-hero backdrop, Heroes could still be an engaging, thoughtful, well-written and well-told story. Good storytelling can transcend any genre.
I think season 3 has hinted at some really cool directions, though it has yet to fully explore them. Obviously, they must stop the whole "I went into the future and saw something we must stop" plot. It was great for one season, but it was redundant by season 2. This season has hinted at the idea that the world will always need saving. And I liked what Arthur Patrelli told Mohinder after the eclipse, about how the absence of their powers showed them who they really were. Hopefully they can develop that and look to things like Watchmen and The Dark Knight and infuse Heroes with some great moral dilemmas.
Practically, they should:
1)Kill some people off. Major ones. And leave them dead. The show has lost so much tension. The end of Eclipse, pt 1 where Noah had the sniper rifle didn't at all rile me up to wonder what happens next, nor did his slitting Sylar's throat. I knew they didn't have the guts to kill him off. 2)Continue Sylar's arc and let him replace Peter as the main protagonist. I found myself getting really into the show when I saw him fighting Arthur's cronies. 3) Go the 'Lost' route and set up an ending. I think the only way a show like this can end well is to end it ambiguously: again, exploring the concept of how the world will always need saving, concluding the show in a way in which the characters come to terms with the world they live in and ending it in a way which makes the viewer wonder what happened next, but not feeling a cliffhanger. Again, I think Watchmen's ending is a great example of this. Heroes has remarkable potential. Let's hope Fuller's return realizes it.

Heroes is a sinking ship, and it's still one of NBC's pillars thanks to this guy's idiocy. He made exactly one good call -- giving SNL its pre-election primetime spots -- and has otherwise sunk NBC even further. No new hit shows, no new semi-hit shows, and the existing hit shows are now tanking.

what i will never understand about so many people on the tv talkbacks is that so many of you hate this show so much you call for it to be cancelled. Why? can't you just stop watching and leave it be? there are manyu other non-geeks out there who realize this show makes no sense at times but they can look past it and be entertained. What do any of you have to gain by seeing this show cancelled? i just can't understand...cancel it yourself: stop watching it and stop writing about it. seriously, some of you make no sense...
i'll admit to being disappointed with the show, and i could not agree more with the 'fire kring' argument, that makes total sense.
Something else i don't understand is why would he admit he 'doesn't read comics?' and it even seems like he hates them. Geeze, there are so many great comics that have been made over the years that could EASILY help out this show, if he'd just acknowledge the fact that comics aren't for kids (seriously, most comics a kid could not possibly understand) instead, he decides to look for source material from the fly, which is the most blatant ripoff i think any of us will ever see. He rips of 'the fly' but refuses to rip off comics? THAT makes no sense. -
plus, kring managed to get a large fanbase of people who have no interests in comic books--if he'd just rip off some great comic arcs, the majority of the fanbase would be loving it, with no idea that the show is ripping off comics...yet he decides to rip off 'the fly' which so many people have seen and can easily see that the mohinder arc is stolen...whats so stupid is that those non comic fans of heroes can see the ripoff, and it would make them resent the show...if he stole from comics, no one would realize it...so he refuses to rip off the storylines no one knows about, yet decides to rip off a movie a ton of people know about...why does kring hate comics and his fanbase? i just don't get it.

Besides writing two episodes of Heroes, Bryan Fuller was one of the show's co-executive producers. So he did a play a key role in helping shape the overall story arc of the first season.

would it kill them to have some action scenes? you have superheroes and you never let them go at it??? why was the finale such a disappointment? because all season we watched sylar and peter both grow so powerful and were waiting for the payoff, which we all expected would be an awesome fight...yet...none. and in the future episode, when they actually DO go at it, they cut to inside and just show lights beaming out the door....i don't understand why they won't do any action...

I don't think they need to set up a series ending. "Heroes" really looks like one of those shows that could potentially last a good, long while at peak proficiency, as long as they regularly inject new blood into the creative crew. Everybody's doing the comic-book comparison, and here's where it's apt-- any mainstream superhero book like "Superman", "Batman" or "Spider-Man" has survived for decades at a time because they don't stick with the same writers for too long, and when a new team comes in, very often good things can happen. The death of Gwen Stacy happened after Stan Lee handed the reigns to Gerry Conway, "X-Men" really took off creatively when Chris Claremont took over, and Frank Miller practically reinvented Daredevil and Batman singlehandedly. Likewise, a new showrunner might be just the juice that "Heroes" needs.

bacci, i have watched this season...name one scene that had an extended fight--the closest would be the fight in the future that ended with sylar blowing up the neighborhood. Do i want 'good heroes vs bad heroes?" NO...but as has been said--the characters keep changing on an episode to episode basis. I want a strong character, good or bad. And yeah, if sylar really did change i would be all for it, but then for no reason he goes evil again. So sylar is a petrelli? gee, it took him a whole five minutes to start calling the petrelli's 'mom' and 'dad.' and i CRINGE everytime i hear hiro call daphne 'nemesis' he has been the biggest let down because early in season one we saw the man he could become, but he has made no attempt to turn into that...what, he unlocks a precious secret vault just because he was bored and wanted adventure? what kind of character is that? then he won't go back to tell himself not to do it because he doesn't want to mess with the past? instead, he wants to go with the world being full of superheroers and ando killing him? And nathan all of a sudden thinks everyone should have powers? You're an idiot bacci...because i actually was DEFENDING the show, telling people who call for it to be cancelled that they should get a life. Last i checked, though, TDK's bread and butter was the classic 'good hero vs bad hero' conflict between batman and the joker....is THAT run of the mill? it works, because everyone involved with that movie knows their role. I love heroes (i really do) but it saddens me that the writers don't seem to know the role their characters are supposed to fill. So, to sum up--you're an idiot, there has not been one truly bad ass, superpower fueled action scene in heroes, ever. i don't know what show you're watching. dipshits on this board don't pay attention? hmmm, i thought i just read through about a million posts that show just how closely people are paying attention, and are exposing the show for all the mistakes and continuity issues that currently plauge it. Also, i really enjoy loeb's batman runs...i would have expected better stuff from his involvement in heroes...but one guy can't save a whole show. 1) Never, ever, ever bring up that lame ass 9th Wonders comic book shit again as a plot device to explain the story. It's just a cheap and lazy way out storytelling wise as is the time travel garbage with Hiro. Speaking of Hiro, if you wanna keep him around STOP MAKING HIM AN IDIOT! He's friggin annoying as hell right now. Grow him up already.
2) Get rid of the dead weight. Please. Jessica/Nikki/Whoever, Claire, Daphne, Mohinder, Redneck electric guy, I'm looking right at all of you. Whenever these people are on the screen I know I can zone out for a bit and not pay attention because of how lame they are anymore.
3) Start making characters make REALISTIC decisions. HRG has Sylar and Elle in his sights and lets them get it on first before taking a half ass shot at them with his uber-rifle??? Nathan has the mother of all brain farts and decides that his dad is right in that giving everybody superpowers will bring about world peace or some shit??? Seriously??? Where as 2 people shooting at one another is MORE dangerous that a walking nuclear bomb taking on a psycho superman??? WTF??? Goddamn Smallville has more intelligent writing than this shit and that's a phrase that I never would have imagined myself typing.
4) Stop flip flopping characters. Sylar is bad, then good, then misunderstood, then good, now bad again.....for no reason. Yet again, WTF? Peter was uberpowerful, did nothing with it, became incredibly annoying for a time, and now is useless. If I nwas writing this show I'd make Sylar the anti-hero, Peter the villian, and I mean really really evil villian, AND LEAVE THEM THAT WAY! Stabalize your central characters already and for God's sake if you decide to kill off any more of them, which I pray is coming, keep them dead! -
That's a good point. The possibilities are endless. In retrospect, I guess there's a million ways they could better the show besides setting an end date. However, the should at least have a definite end for each season. As you've said, it's starting to feel like they're making it up as they go.

And really, i don't care. I simply don't care. I had hopes for you during season 1, but the shitty finale and worse second season just showed that you would never go anywhere worth while. It got to the point where my brain was starting to hurt.
Now that I'm done, I feel more relaxed, that twitch in my left eye is gone. I suggest everyone else just give it up. It's not going to get any better, just far worse. -

Looks like the whole "formula that gives powers" thing is now a blatent ripoff of the 4400. Chad Faust (Kyle Baldwin) from the 4400, is now a character called Scott in Heroes and by the looks of the preview, the first to receive the promicine.... errr formula injection. no i don't want a half hour fight....that jungle scene a) wasn't a fight with superpowers and b) it didn't go on for long at all. "nothing but action scenes"...and that's the best example of an action scene? dude, just admit it--the show doesn't have nearly enough superhero vs superhero fights involving creative uses of their superpowers.

I'm with you on this. My wife and I have DVR'd Heroes from day one. We loved the first season, bought it on DVD... and then tolerated the second season.We started to watch this season... and then became increasingly frustrated by how lame the plots were and by the realization that we soon had no idea what the hell was going on half the time.I'll admit, it's not off the DVR yet, but we haven't watched it for at least 5-6 episodes. We tried... honestly, we did try to catch up... but after about 10 minutes, we both lost interest.I remember watching the first season and thinking, "If they save the world at the end of the first season, how are they ever going to do a second season?"ANSWER: Not very well.

How on earth could the writers create this "suspension of powers" episode and not think out how it would psychologically effect the characters? They touched on this a bit, and I think they handled Claire fine ( for once... I usually think they write her character wrong after 1st season ) Having sylar go crazy again was stupid. It's just a teasefest. They still haven't explained how he magically returned in S2 did they? ( I missed a few episodes )
Still there was so much potential for deeper episodes. I was so pissed off that they got their powers back so fast. They should have made this at least a 3 episode story arc. kill off claire and have her dead and buried befor e she comes back. Shift the balance of power back to the "normal" humans for a little while. Show some weaknesses to Daddy Petrelli. Make the speedster chick suffer a little more.
But in defense of the show with the eclipse being the on/off button for their powers, Mohinder says several lines when he's still in the lab about how there should be absolutely no effect, that there is nothing magical about an eclipse. They're not telling you it was the eclipse itself. In fact, one semi-clever plot point for the writers to flesh out would be that that *some* heros characters have always had their powers... Blond immortal dude, Matt's Dad etc. We did not see anyone during the eclipse episode who is *known* to be a "natural" mutant , so we have no idea how they were affected. Perhaps it is only the "created" mutants that are affected by the eclipse?
The sad part is, I know the writers don't care that much and many subtleties that we see are probably just gaps and coincidences. -
S1: Claire waking up on the autopsy table! The very credible secret-trauma induced breakdown on the stairs at home afterward...S2: Claire uses her powers to get on the cheer squad, so she has a plausible lie for HRG to cover dating the flying boy........... WTF?S1: The appearance of Badass Hiro from the future to inspire Peter--Peter develops into a real Hero.S2: Hiro wanders around ancient Japanifornia, Peter can't remember who he is, spends episodes wondering about his identity, and opens The Box with no payoff. Abandons Kaitlin in the future.

who is a threat to everyone.Season 2: Sylar is a de-powered serial killer in sheep's clothing looking to get his powers back so he can once again be a threat to everyone.Season 3: Sylar is a threat to everyone, then he's a threat to no one, then he's sort of a threat but also useful, but then he goes after Claire and is a threat again, but then he's not a threat in the future, but then he's a threat again when he escapes, then he's not a threat because he loses his power and sees the error of his ways but then gets his powers back and sees the error of seeing the error of his ways, and then my head exploded.Or, to put it another waySeason 1: Sylar kills his motherSeason 3: Sylar, on learning Mrs. Petrelli is his mother, wants to be a good boy and earn her love; when he discovers she's not his mother he decides it's better to be a killer.

When he worked on "Lost", he really helped re-energize that show. -
y the last man is awesome...totally relatable character, good wit, and original plot twists...hell, an orignal plot period. Read it a while ago, just bought the trades and am saving the final two volumes i haven't read for vacation.

Your synopsis of Sylar over the 3 seasons is perfect to a T. I loved when you said your head exploaded, because that was pretty much my feeling when he sliced open Elle. My head just burst.

Because they've ruined too much by killing people off (then miraculously saving just the ones that are regulars). Elle, Candace, Eden, Charlie, Nuclear Guy, Parkman's Dad, Adam, Elle's Dad, Hiro's Dad--all these deaths were for nothing! It's just a waste of characters. Remember when it was an actual big deal when Jenny Calendar died on Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Wow, it means NOTHING anymore except that the a contract is over. The bullshit threat of mortality on a show like this should not be so abused. Frankly, this is a problem with comic books too. Who the fuck even wants the New Gods dead? Fuck whoever does! And someone ALWAYS says death should be permanent when a character that shouldn't be dead is killed off. That's how this show has been. Just reset it all. Let everyone be alive again and just ignore that things went to shit. The only character who ought to be dead is Sylar. He's killed too many characters, and I can't describe my disgust at them making Elle just another notch on his belt.
