    by hardboiled wonderland

Painting themselves into a corner how? You nuffnuff, Ron Moore has known exactly which corner to aim for since day one. The ending was the first thing he thought of when reimagining the series, and the impending finale has sharpened their focus and the writers know exactly where they're going. So you just sit in your own little corner with your thumb up your arse.

    I know

    by montimer

that there are a lot of series that have breaks, and I also know that the splitting of season four was mentioned long before it started airing, but surely this has as much to do with the writer's strike rather than any sci-fi channel cynicysm.

Be honest, what would you prefer, a season split over two years, or for the last few episodes to go as badly as the second season of Heroes did?

As least as far as the last 1.5 seasons go. Nearing the end of Season 3, I usually responded to the "... and they have a plan" graphic with a hearty "The fuck they do!" We've been flailing with 10x speed plot resolutions and the Final Cylon maguffin ever since.

    by evilwizardglick

I've watched the quality of entertainment cycle from horrid to too much to watch.
    Recently most movies suck.
    Saturday morning cartoons suck.
But between movie channel series and network television it is hard finding the time to watch it all.
Of course next fall could be a whole nother story.
But next summer will be fairly cool as there seems to be an upswing in off season quality television, like Burn Notice.

    Split Seasons

    by astronerdboy

The whole reason for the massive delay in the 2nd half of the final season is simple -- economics. SciFi has a sure-fire winner in BSG. BSG is coming to an end, therefore a revenue stream is coming to an end. So, to cash in on it longer, you delay the start so you can project positive revenue sources further down the road.

And also so that they can sell two $30 DVD box sets for Season 4 instead of one $40 box set. I f'ing hate sci-fi producers. They know that people are truly passionate about their product so they continually price these sets way above market rates. I generally wait two to three years after release to purchase this stuff just so the price comes down to a reasonable point. And I can't for the life of me fathom why the new Dr. Who series are priced at $80-$90 upon release.

    by lynxpro

I could understand such a high MSRP if it was on Blu-ray [granted, they'd have to friggin shoot on HD first] but not standard DVD for 14 episodes. Granted, not only does the BBC have to make money on the box sets but so does Warner Home Video (for North America) and the SciFi Channel also gets a cut on US sales.

If you're around, thanks for replying in the last talkback. I realised that I phrased my question really badly. I was meaning about the reveal of the final Cylon, was the person chosen a decent choice, as opposed to how that choice was revealed.

    by santiagoatez

Last season (or last year, whatever you want to call it) was horrible. A cool ending doesn't make up for a bad season. In fact, ever since they left New Caprica the show hasn't been the same. I'll watch it, but I'm almost sure it won't be worth this long artificial wait (artificial = split up one season and sell it as two)

I don't care what all the naysayers think. The final 10 episodes will be epic. They have no time for filler since they have to wrap up everything in these episodes. It saddens me when fucking filth like Heroes gets such huge talkbacks and BSG can barely get 50 responses. But then again, people are only trolling the Heroes Talkbacks (and rightly so).
