Entourage has been kind of weak this season. I did like Stellan Skarsgård's take as Paul Verhoven. All this talk about Turtle lately, what the hell happened to his rap representing business? And his girlfriend? Did they just drop that entirely without a mention?
-
I don't mind it. It has titties and a pretty damn cool themesong. Entourage has titties too, sometimes...but not so much of a cool themesong.
-
I'm really likin' True Blood. But all of two people asked for it in a Talback today, and it gets one. Meanwhile, 30,000 people (that may be hyperbole) a week cry out for a Supernatural talkback...which never happens. And why not? Raelle Tucker, who writes for True Blood, wrote for the first two seasons of Supernatural. So did John Shiban of X-Files fame. Kim Manners of The X-Files has directed a boatload of episodes. John Peter Kousakis of Millennium and Jericho serves as co-executive producer. And freakin' Ben "Firefly/Angel/The Tick" Edlund writes for them all the time. Plus, the acting is very fine, the direction is top-notch, the mythology is well-thought out, comprehensive AND comprehensible, and it's funny, dramatic and dark as hell. Plus, it gets extra love for casting Jim Beaver in the role of a lovable, if sometimes tormented, mentor in a trucker cap who lives in a scrap yard and built a ghost-proof panic room on a weekend off. That being said, I am so excited for True Blood tonight.
-
That is all.....oh and Paquin is SO HOT!! Ok now that is all.
-
Best tits ever, she looks so nice nude.
-
Is true blood actually coming back or will they pull a fast one? Personally not much of a fan but the other half seems to enjoy it much.
-
Thanks for the TB talkback. Easily one of the best-written new shows this year, and distinctly adult in its execution. At last: vampires and humans in the same show that fuck, get high, get drunk, kill and cuss, and generally all in explicit fashion. And it's funny, too. And does the guy who plays Bud remind anyone else of Sam Rockwell?
-
I guess we just learned his real name (sal) last week. Will we ever learn Ari's wife's name?
-
in a weekend of lameass vampirism, True Blood shows that a vampire romance can be, well, good. I understand Twilight is a tween romance, but it's been getting so much attention some people are starting to take it seriously. So, at least we have an adult vampire romance, where girls don't go brain dead every time a hot vampire walks in the room (minus the glamor!).
-
needs to happen. I hope Lizzy comes back as a vampire, since she was on V when she died it could happen right?
Sucky's cheating on Bill was a bit abrupt. She's not showing much depth, but I like it when she shows her tits. -
... she was really amazing. Still, I do love this show, it's finally an interesting new take on vampires that doesn't just rehash stories from Angel. Looking forward to season 2!
-
I thought it was the best Season since Season 2. Season 3 was good until the Jump the Shark Vegas episode (then that season went to Hell after that). True Blood was fun, however I wouldn't order HBO just for that show.

Fuck y'all Laurell hamilton's WHORE vamp books need televisionin
by evilwizardglick
Christ reading her books is like reading 70's porn books.
Except all the Vamps are described as basically queens.
But goddamned it would make some HOT tv. -
Wish it had more coverage on this site... it's really good!
-
Well?
-
Dirt and Californication are closer to the Hwood scene than Entourage.
-
Better show, better question.
-
oh how time flies... a lack of boobage in '98

by holodigm
wtf Herc...they made that pretty clear at the end of the last episode...
-
about the True Blood finale. if you weren't able to figure out the killer from last week, they spoil both who it is as well as who dies tonight. fuck them.
-
They have more time with Tara and her stupid Mom than they have on building up this killer. I hope next season we get to know more about the Vampires.
-
get any more Dexter tb's?
-
That'd be a nice ironic twist. Plus she's hot.
-
they're going to be disappointed and it's not really going to make sense.
My g/f, who read the book, told me who it is and I still can't figure out why it's that person. Obviously its a character we've seen regularly on the show. -
Both shows have been very good. I do think however, that the young woman who plays Tara has stolen the show from Anna Paquin.
-
ENTOURAGE, on the other hand, is a steaming pile of shit.
-
That goes to It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Give us a talk back for that
-
Jesus H. Christ, what will I watch now? Lost doesn't start until January! There is literally nothing good on TV anymore, now that MM and TB have finished their seasons - everything is just crap police procedurals and idiotic reality shows. I guess it's PBS and BBC America pour moi until after the first of the year. Damn.
-
There's also the boring, derivative genre shows, all of which are stupid. God, when do the new Doctor Who specials start? Where is Battlestar Galactica?
-
Here's a show with vampires, shapeshifters and psychics but instead we spend too much time on annoying bitch Tara and Jason the sex crazed drug addict. We don't care! We want to know more about vampires and vampire politics.
-
TV right now. I disliked the True Blood Pilot but by about the 3rd or 4th episode it suddenly turned into the one of best shows on TV. It's a real shame True Blood has had so few TalkBacks created for it on this site.
-
Is the best thing about the show. The vampire/human politics is great too, but its the underlying metaphors that really drive it. Anyone who has ever binged out on sex, drugs, and sex and drugs and the nail biting excitement of getting the next fix of whatever is and all the weirdos and freaks you wind up becoming friends with because of whatever said fix is knows exactly what I'm talking about. For good or for ill, you know. TRUE BLOOD takes the whole vampire sex metaphor to the next level. Its brilliant. AND its totally hysterical too. Nothing else today can touch it. Maybe if THE WIRE: PHILADELPHIA ever happens...
-
and dance around naked in a Loreal Vive commercial
-
Seriously.
-
This beats Twilight by a country mile, doesn't it? Young actors doesn't have to equal bad story-telling.
-
And whatever happened to Anne Rice? I heard she was writing Christian books lately. No more Vamp interviews, I guess...
-
Great premise but shitty writing and acting. The actors that play the bitchy black chick and Sookie's brother are the absolute worst.
-
For money, nothing beats True Blood each week. Of course, Lost isn't back on yet....
I can't wait for Season 2 -
they got on a plane back to Queens this last ep and I thought that was a nice way to end the season - if not the whole show altogether...
-
really? no bullshit? coz that show ROCKED!
-
I'm getting mixed reviews here...
-
The show does get better after the first few episodes. I think the episode where the series started to get good was the one where Bill gives the speech about the civil war and we have flashbacks on how he became a vampire.
-
At least Spike carried around a blanket.
-
I worked with that guy once - he's brillant.
-
I pegged that a few weeks ago. He was the only real choice. The only guy who wasn't red herringed (besides Lafayette who obviously could care less) and he was always so supportive and nice. You can't trust someone who always positive stuff. You had to wonder why he was in the story so much yet so benign and ineffectual. Clearly, he was the killer. Too bad. I thought he was hot.
My only concerns now are for the fate of Lafayette (just who did Bill feed from?); the workings of Maryann and her PMA cult; why in the hell are Sookie and Bill talking marriage after knowing eachother... a month?
Cassie should keep things interesting. Great casting there. -
Fuck
-
...not that I think it would happen, but talk about big shoes to fill. I haven't had HBO lately so I don't know if True Blood's any good (and I know Entourage isn't), but I do know that I'll make plans to re-subscribe just as soon as I hear news about the Song of Ice and Fire pilot premiere. Now that Always Sunny and Venture Bros are over, that's the only thing on the TV horizon I'm looking forward to.
-
I'm glad Vince et al. got their comeuppence...but that ending was the sugariest, feel-good, It's-a-small-world ending EVER. "I'll have "Schmaltz" for $500, Alex."
-
Should have ended when Drama opened his restaurant, Turtle happy with Meadow Soprano, E at a pilot meeting with Bow Wow, and Vince getting the call from Scorsese. It would have been nice to not know whether or not E comes back, with the hopes that the next season will continue with two different career paths: one in LA and the other in NY. That would have been enough for me to actually want to come back next season.
-
Shit.....this blows.
We only have one more episode detailing the adventures of a certain Victor Mackey, this simply cannot be. The end is nigh! -
that is all.
-
I love the show but felt the last 15 + minutes of this final episode (after the whole murderer thing was resolved) was incredibly awkward. Not a smooth buildup to a tense finale that left one aching to know what happens next?
Still it's a great show and hopefully it has found it's stride and will be back next year better then ever. Now no MadMen and no TrueBlood - what is there to watch??
-
Coming back to take vengance for the exorcism that REALLY happened, even though Tara (and the bald chick who works at Walgreens)thought not. That pig HAS to be symolic of Legion, right?
-
Thats what my friends who have read the books say.
-
a Maenad.
-
He always works with A-list actors at this stage of his life. He doesn't resurrect careers. Tarrentino would have made sense.
Johnny Drama is on a hit TV show. It makes no sense that he would still be such a laughing stock to everyone. The show was better when Johnny was a failure and the only women Turtle got was Vince's rejects. -
Why was it such a mystery who the killer was on True Blood before the season finale? They showed the picture of the killer at the end of the 2nd to last episode of the season. I liked that guy too. Oh well!
-
no idea why they felt the need to resolve EVERY story thread in the last 5 minutes. that said, meadow soprano never did it for me until the handjob/jointsmoking/phone sex scenes...now i cant stop thinking about her
-
You have to be joking. the guy who plays Jason deserves a fucking Emmy. His performance has been hysterical and note perfect. I love that he's joining the sun cult. Too fucking funny! And what the fuck is a Maenad somebody?
-
I don't even like the show but last night's finale was pretty great. Turtle's mother listening in on the phone sex? GOLD!
-
is the BEST thing about True Blood and should be handed the role of THOR right fucking NOW!
-
...I didn't mind True Blood though, it's a fairly entertaining show. But man fucking Entourage. Now they have to drag the greatness of Martin Scorcese into this shit. Fuck that loser Wahlberg.
-
One more point - he wasn't simply and everyman. He was a scientist at some research facility, but he was clearly not the genius running things. All through the early stages of the plague, he keeps telling himself, and anyone who'll listen that they'll find a cure. But clearly, when he does become the last man on earth, he doesn't have the skills to keep up the research. He is enough of a scientist to know that science has deserted him and he's all the more desolate for knowing that.
-
I was also wondering what the fuck a Maenad is....this isn't super helpful, but it at least sort of describes what it is in mythology, and confirms thats what she is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maenad
-
I guess this means we're going to see a lot of Marty next season? How the hell does he find the time? Has he finished with Shutter Island? Shouldn't he be preparing for that De Niro project he's directing?
-
Right?
-
He does kick ass as Eric.
-
...he's a series regular next year. I didn't realize that wasn't enough for some people.
-
Both the wife and I though True Blood was terrible for the first couple episodes, but being HBO, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Man was I rewarded ... great stuff and the finale last night did not disappoint at all. Resolved a big plot point, and strung along a few more. I just hope Lafeyette isn't really dead - that guy was awesome in that role. As for Entourage, I actually loved the fact they didn't take the easy route and leave it a "does he make a comeback or not?" cliffhanger. That would have been obvious. Much better to resolve it on a triumph putting Vince back on top, but keeping the central location Queens this time instead of LA. Only thing the show lacked this season was more Mrs. Ari ... she's hot !
-
He needs some more acting lessons, granted, but the dude has the build and the Nordic background.
And yes, the last minute minutes of the finale felt off, but Sookie driving that shovel through the killer's neck was great. And Michelle Forbes looks to be a very interesting addition indeed...
-
Yeah it would have broken up the team but it would have intresting to see Eric truly venture out on his own for once.
-
Then play a game of Vampire: the Masquerade. Or, if you're too lazy, go find a copy of Kindred: the Embraced.
*shrugs* Tru Blood isn't a show about vampire politics. It's a platform to show reactions to any "unwanted" group/s (plug in vampires, blacks, gays, whatever, here) in small communities. It's also a platform to show the dichotomy (dare I say hypocrisy?) of sin (sex, drugs, violence, profanity) and religious purity in the South, which I really love. The vampires are pretty much secondary. -
... then you and I should start preparing a pity party for ourselves. I like Lafayette, too :(
-
OK, now I'm going to have to read the book. The description of what a Maenad is doesn't make any sense in the context of Tru Blood. A Maenad is basically a maniacal worshipper of Bacchus? No immortality, no powers, nothing? It doesn't explain why she runs the half-way house, it doesn't explain the problem she has with Sam, it doesn't explain her connection to Bon Temps or why she's concerned with Tara... GRRRR! :)
-
i keep thinking, why are people ragging on drama, and why did the show establish he has a series, then drop back into the drama is a loser template? his character is on a big show now, so he's making cash, working each week, etc. i guess the showrunners forgot they put him on the show, and just fell back on the old drama cliches. the ending was a bit too happy go lucky, but i guess that is Marky Mark's life. the guy keeps getting hits after hit after hit. so i guess vince will continue to succeed, until marky mark's films start bombing. so it SEEMS unrealistic vince would have so much good luck, but marky mark's luck continues to shine.
-
It also doesn't explain why she vibrates in front of pigs. WTF???
-
Its a great drama and also a fresh take on vampires. I was slowly made a real fan of the series and look forward to the new season this summer.
-
didn't Bill say in an earlier episode that sunlight wouldn't make him burst into flames, it would only make him weak and kill him eventually?
-
Good question. I guess he didn't "burst into flames" so to speak, but that line also left me with the impression that the sunlight wouldn't burn him either.
-
Bill indicated that he would not immediately burst into flames but implied that he eventually would. The last episode was consistent with his earlier statement.
-
That Entourage ending was a total cop-out. I guess it's more of a comedy than a drama, but that whole fight and make up hollywood fairytale ending seemed quick and forced. The could have at least left it hanging for next season. I didn't get that.
-
Did you see Skarsgard on Generation Kill?
(PS: THOR!!) -
Eric's character is much more interesting. It's time for bill to die and Eric to step into the picture more often.
-
He's great in True Blood and Generation Kill.
-
hmm ya may be on to something. However,I always pictured John Moyer as Supes. He looks more the part than Routh and can act too.
-
he was one of my favorite characters. Still I'm glad they killed that hippy chick. She pissed me off.
-
aren't those lafayette's red painted toes in the last scene? i'm bettin' on it.
i don't understand why sam chose to turn into a smallish dog instead of say a wolf or a bear. much handier in a fight. -
...and I guess Sookie will give him a bit more blood. Dam, what a way to end the first season.Yeah, hated to see Lafayette go too but maybe he'll be turned in the next season. Crap, have to wait almost a year!I get the impression that Sam can't really turn into anything other than the pooch...I don't know for sure but, yeah, you would've thought (if he was able) a Doberman would've been a better choice. Of course, he looked like a beagle in that flashback. Heh, maybe he doesn't have the pedigree for anything other than mutts. If Eric can be suggested to play Thor then I think Bill, Stephen Moyers, would make a great Bard of Esgaroth in the upcoming Hobbit flick.
-
. . . that True Blood finally got GOING in the episode where Bill spoke to the church. I felt like I was about to give up because of the super corny writing but was absolutely hooked by that episode. Now its one of my favorite shows on. Wasn't too thrilled w/ the finale. If Sam is so concerned about the pig woman, why wasn't he warning Tara a little more? Weeks passed between him seeing her pick up Tara and the end of the show. I'll bet anything the pain in the ass red-head vamp killed Lafayette. And when does Tara show those tits???
-
Maybe the show's creators did something to piss off the site.
-
He's a small pup in the flashback because that was what was near him. He's able to turn into the current dog because there's a real one like it running around the neighborhood. Sam did explain that he can't just shape-shift into whatever.
-
and less Mrs Turtle!
not sure E really needed to be fired in the first place, but yeah I guess they're going to have a long distance relationship now, huh? -
I mean, it don't look good ... but you never know. My guess is that the ending had to do with Eric's warning that the vamps knew who wronged them, and they'd get them back eventually. Maybe they tracked the V source to Lafeyette. Or maybe the senator has a vampire assassin who took Lafeyette out for threatening him. Who knows. The real cliffhanger, however, is what hot guest star's tits were going to see in Season 2 ? Lizzy Caplan was a nice surprise, but let's get a special guest arc with Lacey Chabert or something for next season, eh ?
-
Good call! You're a master of Karate and friendship...
-
is that they didn't forget to make it entertaining, even while taking sidelong glances at some weighty issues. Some other shows could learn from that. Battlestar Galactica, I'm looking in your direction...well, probably too late for that one.
-
All we saw was Lafeyette being afraid of something and hoping ontop of the garbage can. I don't believe he'd jump up if it was a person/vampire after him. Only an animal would make someone jump up... maybe a werewolf? Hopefully. Also we were made to assume the back foot with painted nails was Lafeyette but it could very easily be Tara's mother. She has been playing with her Karma and she would be a much better character to kill off than the super interesting Lafeyett.
-
the little redheaded hottie vampire. I have a feeling she's gonna be FUN!
-
you're wrong about that mate. BSG got abit heavy handed at times, but overall its seasons are still consistently entertaining. True Blood doesn't approach real life issues close to as well as BSG does, nor as deep. So it's alot easier for that show to have fun.
-

Lafayette Can't Die! He's The Omar Of The TRUE BLOOD Universe!
by laserpants
(Disreguard the fact that Omar was killed in the last season of THE WIRE). No way he dead, yo. The new witch lady sent some monsters after him, but he gonna survive.
-
Totally agree with you. I want to like BSG, but its so grim and humorless that it becomes self parody. TRUE BLOOD deals with weighty issues, but its always fun and funny.
-
You know, the hot, irritating, red head?
-
I hate that people rag on Turtle all the time, when he's the most down-to-earth one of the group and the most 'normal joe', so to speak. He has his 'idiot' moments, but he's at least there for his friends. Let's not hop on the 'yuppie' bandwagon, ala reviewers and nay-sayers with a stick up their asses who claim he's bad person or an asshole (a female entertainment reviewer got offended that Turtle hit on a chick with a boyfriend in an episode, telling her that they should 'fuck just to make him jealous..to me, that took balls, and the woman he was hitting on was a hanger on-er' herself, so why did she deserve to placed on a pedestal?). So what he's part of a famous person's entourage? His best friend hit it big. Wouldn't you want to be around your childhood friend who made it big in biz? Plus, Ms. Ari just don't do it for me, beauty wise or personality wise. She's another stick-in-the mud, always complaining, even though she has the whole world at her beckoned call cause of family money, and she bosses Ari around like property most of the time. Plus, she's just average, another skinny L.A. beanpole with run-of-the mill looks. I needs a bit more meat on ye' bones, my friends!
