Greg Mottola's ADVENTURELAND Promises Enchantment, Heartbreak And Weaponized Corn Dogs!

Published at:  Nov 22, 2008 1:03:28 AM CST

Beaks here...

For those of you worried that Greg Mottola might succumb to the sophomore slump after SUPERBAD, two things: 1) he already beat it with SUPERBAD (we'll take that new DAYTRIPPERS DVD whenever you're ready, Sony), and 2) this new trailer for ADVENTURELAND (currently attached to TWILIGHT) is pretty goddamn irresistible.

Maybe the trailer comes on a little strong with the Rush and the Violent Femmes and the Bill Hader histrionics, but I've a feeling that Mottola's movie is much more laid back than this. And if it's not... well, I like Rush and the Violent Femmes and Bill Hader histrionics, so consider this is a win-win. Also, the world needs all the Martin Starr it can get. He'd be an awesome SECDEF.

ADVENTURELAND is scheduled for release March 27, 2009. That's too far away.

Kristen Bell's cross-eyed put me off

    by seppukudkurosawa

It looks like she's always staring at your nose. (Cue talkbacker cliche No.34: "You'd sell your family into slavery to get the chance to tap something that hot just once." Blah blah blah).

Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, has got that Fairuza Balk of the noughties look about her. If I'd have been Emile Hirsch's character in Into the Wild, I'd have had a moral crisis for all of 4 seconds before I surrendered to my baser instincts.

    by roketopunch

She's fucking ugly. Why is everyone going jizznuts for her on this site. Really look at her pics on IMDB she looks like she has a kickstand like any other fella. I think she is a dyke as well. In all of her pics she graphs onto a another chick.

in the movie is Kennywood Park located outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. I was wondering when we were going to hear something about this movie, it seems like so long ago they were in town filming. Looks like fun, will certainly check this out when it finally opens. www.kennywood.com

Yep..that's exactly how the title cards read in that trailer. And truer words were never spoken. Not as terrifying as "from the writers of Superbad", but pretty damn close.

Their pretentious lyrics, that screeching lead vocal...fuck, now I have that fucking song stuck in my head. Oh and Kristin Stewart never looked like a boy, even in Panic Room, you homos. And did they get Disney's permission for this? When I first saw the title I thought it was another attempt by Disney to cash in on Pirates.

    by thebloop

Rush is awesome. Any band that can have Bob and Doug and Count Floyd from SCTV introduce their songs live is alright with me. Despite be gods at their instruments, unlike morons like "50 Cent" who can't play anything, they are very down to earth and have a great sense of humor. "Take off, to the great white north, take off...". Oh and cornponious, one thing I can't stand are liberals who claim something as their own, like "Only liberals are smart enough to use Apple computers" Come on dude, I am conservative, mostly, as are most of my friends, and we all love Rush. Not sure what your point was...

    well...

    by cornponious

my point was that many of Peart's lyrics deal with subject matter that tends to be against the very things that the last 8 years of the Bush administration were famous for, namely religion, oppression, repression, imperialism, etc.
I mean, I just assume that religious conservatives just ignore the words in songs like "Freewill", "The Trees", "A Farewell to Kings", and just about every song on the Snakes and Arrows album.

Finally! I saw an advanced screening of this back in May and it was awesome! I was wondering what happened to this movie. Trust me, while it's not as funny as Superbad, it's still definitely a more rounded movie. It's gonna be a classic.

    by magic rat

she basically looks exactly the same in every role she's in. It looked like she walked right off the set of Twilight and into this. She spent 120 minutes in Twilight and never smiled once, and now she'll probably spend another 80 minutes in this and never smile. C'mon Kristen, SMILE!

Mottola changed it to take place in Pittsburgh because of the amusement park he shot at. And he went to college around there. poop.

Adventureland captured FOREVER circa 1985-86 is in the Alan Alda/Michael Caine flick "Sweet Liberty".

I hung out at the crappy Adventureland in 1986-88 when I was in junior high. I wish I saw Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig though. It would have been more fun.

The theme of 2112 fits much more tightly if you picture it as statement against Islamic regimes like the mullah running Iran. Where all forms of western music are banned, and "Islamic fashion police" arrest women for dressing to "sluty". I picture the Oracle being the Mullahs, frowning down upon the discover of music they don't approve of. Say what you want moonbats, you can make any film or song you like in the U.S. and no one from the Bush administration is going to cut your head off. Take this message board for example......
