SCRUBS Returns To Tuesdays!!

Published at:  Nov 20, 2008 10:41:31 PM CST

I am – Hercules!!

“Scrubs” is headed back to Tuesdays starting Jan. 6.

ABC says the sitcom will burn off four of its eigth-season episodes between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Jan. 6 and Jan. 13 before settling into the 9 p.m. on subsequent Tuesdays.

No word yet on what goes in that 9:30 p.m. slot on Jan. 20.

This is first season on ABC for “Scrubs,” which began life at 9:30 p.m. on NBC’s autumn 2001 Tuesday lineup. It moved to Thursdays for its second and third seasons, then back to Tuesdays for its fourth and fifth, then back to Thursdays for its sixth and seventh.

In its new ABC timeslot, "Scrubs" will compete against this season's two top-rated freshman shows, CBS' "The Mentalist" and Fox's "Fringe," as well as viewer-heavy "The Biggest Loser."

ABC also confirms “Life On Mars” will move to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays (following “Lost”) starting Jan. 28 and that "Private Practice" is going to 10 p.m. Thursdays (following "Grey's Anatomy") starting Dec. 11.

ABC increased "Mars'" first-season order today from 13 to 17 episodes.

I guess the rest of the "Life on Mars isn't as good as the original" talkbackers will be along soon.

Just like with The Office talkbacks, it's inevitable. Like flies to honey.

I should clarify my position here...

    by paul t. ryan

I really do like the US version, it's just that I've only seen four episodes so far compared to all 16 of the Brit version, and the first season of its spin-off Ashes to Ashes. I'm sure the US version is going to get even better as it goes along, its just early days so far.

    Scrubs

    by stuckinthepresentpaused

is in a weird position. The network says it could be brought back for another season but everyone knows it isn't. It is a show that is being picked up due to Bill Lawrence's relationship with the Production company and the Network Execs. I'm a fan of Scrubs and am looking forward to the new season but i am worried about the quality since they are basicaly taking 7 episodes worth of story which what was left to shoot before the strike as the finale and turning it into an 18 episode season. That is 11 episodes of filler possibly.

Sweet. I hope Dr. Mickhead gets more screen time.

Seriously though, stoked that this show is back. Finally. Hopefully ABC will let it wrap on things on its own terms.

now i just hope those rumblings of "this could be like ER and keep going with new cast members" are just that, rumblings.... i was under the impression ABC were doing what NBC wouldnt, giving them the time to make a proper final season. lets hope thats still the plan and it doesnt change. 8 seasons is more than enough.

    by timahh

rest assured the writers agree. Bill Lawrence said the only way he'll do another season is if everyone involved in the creative aspects of the show agreed to work towards getting back to its early moods(a "serious" comedey) i'm hopeful.

Read a review of the first two new episodes

    by dijonase24

At the TV blog sepinwall.blogspot.com (a great site) there was both a review of the first two episodes and some notes from a Q&A involving the writers/producers of Scrubs. In the Q&A, the creator admitted that the show had gotten far too wacky in recent seasons and would be dialed back. The review claimed that they absolutely dialed back the zaniness, and that the episodes were some of the best in a long time. I for one am looking forward to it.
