    Wanna know what's crazy?

    by village idiot

I've been getting Paula Marshall and Sarah Paulson mixed up for the past ten years. This may be a breakthrough.

    no subject

Hmmm...I hate Sarah Paulson slightly less than I hate Paula Marshall, but Jeremy Piven has no equal...I'm gonna say original wins.

    Interesting...

    by the_patriot

My two favorite quotes from the 1998 original: "Coffee without caffiene? That's like sex without spanking." And: "I've got a bone to pick with you." "Damn. I was hoping for a boneless day." Done by Jeremy Piven...awesome. I'll be interested to see the result of this revisit/reboot/remake, but god help us if the remake cycle is only 10 years on TV now. We may be seeing Cop Rock back on the air...yeesh.

The worst thing happend to this remake...

    by thehichhiker

...is Jeremy Piven. No one approaches the perfection for the role that Piven was. Trying just makes it look sad. I was hoping Thomas would take it in a different direction so not to compete with Piven, but it does not look like that's the case - and so, its no contest, original wins.

    I like this version

    by isther

I might see the first episode to give a real judgement... but the old series seemed kinda... slow. This one seems to be filled with Red Bull. I think this time Cupid is a winner.

It was a dumb idea the first time.

Even dumber to think that anybody thought otherwise.

    But

    by isther

One point is true. The casting of the original was way better. Is the presentation and speed of this new version that has improved. Sadly, the last is what will be considered.. more appealing.

2009 version looks inferior in every way

    New guy lacks charm.

    by dingbatty

And the original was developing Sherilynn Fenn as a recurring character, so it wins.

    is Bobby Cannavale channelling Piven?

    by newc0253

apparently Rob Thomas had a very specific type in mind for Cupid.

I love Veronica Mars so much...

    by password.swordfish

that I'll give anything Thomas does a try. Maybe it won't be as good as the original, but it's got me for the first few episodes at least. I owe him that after he gave me that sassy, brilliant little blond detective.

If the purpose of this promo was to make me miss the original...

    by rufus_t_firefly

Then, mission accomplished. This looks like a "community theater" version of Piven and Marshall's show. I want THEIR version on DVD. Now.

Me and one of my ex's used to...

    by kid z

... watch the original version... She was "the one" and 1998 was right in the middle of my own personal "salad days". Anyway, that relationship ended badly about 5 years back. Ain't no way I'll be able to watch the new version without major weird-outs. Maybe Thomas can re-do "Dead Like Me" next or something.

    Good News

For Bobby C...if history holds true, he will now miraculously grow a new, full head of hair in approximately 5 years.

    Huh?

    by toasterslayer

I don't really get putting in the trailer "from the creator of 'Veronica Mars'". As amazing as it was, no one watched that show, and since it was on UPN I feel like those people who didn't experience its brilliance probably consider it to be a throw away teen drama.

Why wasn't Kristen Bell his love interest???

    by mr. profit

Seriously let's get her off "Heroes" and onto something good. How about Rob Thomas rebooting "21 Jump Street" for the CW starring Kristen Bell as "Veronica Mars".

    Looks Awful

    by medicinaluser

I also can't take the "somebodys at the door" creepy American Gothic actress seriously. Perhaps they should have done something different like have Bell play the role of Cupid and Piven back as the Doc.

The only reason to watch the original was Jeremey Piven

And this new guy looks like a Project Runway reject doing a Piven impersonation.

    by ellipsian

...fuck the cast, be they great or be they shit: after giving us 'Ronnie, I'll follow Rob Thomas anywhere for at least a few episodes (which is why I gave "90210" exactly one episode of my time--that's as long as he was involved).

    Wow - charm-free.

    by annoyyou

I'll admit it -- I really loved the Piven/Marshall version back in the day and was gutted when it was canceled, but this? This is warmed-over whimsey. Rob, dude - it didn't work the first time with a great male lead and a middling female lead - now you expect it to fly with an unsuitable male lead and a middling female lead who is an even BIGGER showkiller than Marshall? Please. This will die a quick merciful death, even faster than the original.

    by youareallmybastardchildren

BUT this looks baaaad. They're actually starting to remake/reboot failed series from 10 years ago now? Good thing I watch sports 99% of the time.
