because they don't have anything else to bitch about. "too topical!" not this half-season. "wah give me a topical episode!" and we get one. "south park isn't funny anymore" was never true, so now all that's left is "recent movies? ew! why can't they go back and spoof more steinbeck novels?" when we get an east of eden parody ep, talkbacks will be clamoring for an episode about saw vi.

Hooray! A goth-centric SP episode! I don't care what other people may say, I LOVE how Matt and Trey don't always focus on the same group of characters in every episode, but rather will take time to look into secondary and throwaway characters. The show *is* called South Park, and by God, they show us all of South Park.

some quoteable stuff 'Count Fagula' is one I'm going to be using, I also loved the Village Inn refrence, if you've ever been or live in the midwest, VIs are all over the place and are the place for goth kids to hang out and drink coffee. I also loved the fat girl driving.

you fool, the South Park vs Family Guy episode had NOTHING to do with pop culture, Matt and Trey had been doing pop culture riffs long before Family Guy, the point of the Family Guy episode was that all Family Guy had turned out to be was a series of nonsensical pop culture refrences that had no respect ton continuity of the char. or to the overall plotlinethis episode was a good example of how you take something popular (the Twilight vampire fad), work it into cohesive storyline (the whole episdoe was about this fad) while keeping true to the char. nature (Butters thinking he was a vampire, Buttter's realtionship with his parents, the goth kids). As opposed to SOME (not all) episodes of Family Guy that has Peter doing stupid riffs that make no sense (i.e. "remember the time I was a toilet" cut to some random celebrity shitting on Peter's face)I do enjoy some episodes of Family Guy (noteably the once a year Brian and Stewie "Road" eps, though wasn't as fond of this season's, the time travel BTTF/Terminator bits were great, but this was Stewies 2nd or 3rd Time Machine and it had gotten biggre, for the sole purpose of having a reason to have Mort come along, which to me ruined the dynamic) *back on track* I do think FG has gotten better since "being called out" on South Park, the randomness has been scaled back and they've actually gotten back to the what made the original episodes so good, not just random bs thrown against the wall. I will also say that the Simpsons were guilty of this just throwing stuff so i can make this joke as well, but they have improved too since the movie

Speaking as someone who likes the Goth look but is too lazy for Goth culture, most Goths don't shop at Hot Topic. Hot Topic doesn't really sell Goth clothing anymore, and hasn't for many years. They're more into the modern teen punk look, now, and it's really annoying. All that flourescent pink makes my eyes hurt :)

not to get into it, but i think it depends on the store and location and what a "true" goth is. i've seen lot's of self claimed "goths" buy at hot topic (and they could never afford "real" goth clothes); and don't forget the goth couple on the amazing race that wore flourescent pink (who we met last week at "bat's day at the park"--the goth takeover of disneyland.

    by drewlicious

The goth stuff is weird enough as it is but if any of this is true then youth culture has hit a monumentally stupid peak.
As for Hot Topic, I've seen goths shop there. I also noticed emo kids get half their wardrobe from there, the other half comes from Urban Outfitters. Oddly enough Family Guy had a joke about something like that on Sunday.

Old School Goths shop at Local Stores

    by dogsoup

I understand that unless you are into the culture you don't know how much Goths have evolved but the places where most Goths get thier clothes are the specialty shops locally owned and run in every city across the country. Hot Topic doesn't even carry the clothes and products that people who listen to Combichrist, ::wumpscut::, and the Cruxshadows actually use. They cater to the My Chemical Romance crowd almost exclusively. Real Goth culture happens in bars with DJs spinning industrial, darkwave, and EBM music. I actually think Matt and Trey are simultaniously poking fun and sympathetic to the Goths who have sustained for so long. One of them I'm certain has made the fuck with a smoking hot Goth girl. It would explain everything.

Sorry. I love South Park but this season has produced the fewest laughs ever. Is it just me or do the writers seem bored with the characters these days?
