    damn it..

    by sometimes i guess

let me take a stab at the question you posed..

Because pointing out the obvious reality that both sides in a political debate tend to overreact does not qualify as "hitting the nail on the head", it qualifies as being, frankly, boring. Not to mention the joke just wasn't funny. Go back and watch any episode from season 3 through season 10 and any minute in any of those episodes will be eternally more humorous than anything in that episode, or any episode this season for that matter.

Slapping ya, slapping ya, slap slap slappin ya silly-y-y. Slap Slap Slappin ya cause ya disrespected me-e-e. Nice. But yeah, I'm also very tired of their inability to tell a story without using a recent movie as a plot frame.

I really kept waiting for this to take a clever, absurd, dark South Park turn, and it never did. "Slapping Dad" was one-note and annoying. Lame season.

    Not a good episode...

    by prof. pop-cult

Disappointing, and just as annoying as the HSM franchise. And it's also three episodes in a row where Trey Parker parodied a movie. I hope the next episode isn't inspired by another movie.

    They didn't go far enough

    by blindambition238

They should have the musical parody premise and ran with it. We all know parker and stone love musicals and would have been nice to see them flex their song talents for the entire episode. Instead the episode seemed like a overlywrought throwaway glancing blow at something which most south park viewers don't really give a crap about.

    by _maltheus_

Last week's episode was great, old school South Park, but every other episode this season ranks among the weakest South Parks ever. I did like Cartman's lines about no longer having any connection to this world, and then being unable to kill himself with a Prius. But once the singing Dad came on the screen, this ep was all downhill from there.

It did? Huh? How did last week's episode capture "Obamamania"? BOTH candidates were in the "conspiracy".
I think last week's episode was the funniest South Park since the episode on Scientology. Not the best, but the best in a while.

laughing hysterically at this episode. I think you people are too serious. This season has been great. OBHHH NOESS ZTHEY PARIEDDED A MOOVIEESS. OHHH NOOESSS. Jesus, people will find ANYTHING to complain about. The week before it was, "SERUSLY?!?! CLOVERFIELD OMGZ THAT MOGVIE IS SO OLD OMGGG LIKE TEN YEARS AGO THTA WULD BESZ FUNI!!" so they do an Obama/McCain episode ONE DAY after the election and everyone bitches that it's all about Obama, which is too "obvious"? Screw you guys, South Park kicks ASS and this season has been as good as any other.

    My take

    by potch

Honestly, I have to agree with the masses when they say that this season has been weak at best. The Obama episode was an extreme exception. To have the episode air the day after the election AND include actual speeches that were given less than 24 hours earlier was pretty brilliant in my opinion. And they really did get the supporters of both groups spot on. Ike being in on the whole thing was pretty funny too.

The rest of the season though really hasn't been that good. The HSM ep last night was better than most this season (being in theater, I see the effect the real thing every day, and it's not unlike what they showed on tv)., but saying it was better isn't saying much. I hate to say it, because I think South Park is brilliant, but I think it might be time to call it quits. The magic just doesn't seem to be there any more.

...sorry, but it's always great. The Britney episode was the best this season. I nearly died watching it.
