AICN - BOLT Advance Screening in Austin!
Hey folks, Harry here - Quint's reports has me giddy to see this film and I can't wait to see it this Saturday - cuz after BOLT, I get to see CHEECH & CHONG perform here in Austin. This will be one helluva good day!
Disney's got a new film coming out, and it looks to have all the trimmings of the next must-see masterpiece from the Disney/Pixar Universe- BOLT! And we've got a chance for you to see it early, for free!
Two-months ago at Fantastic Fest, the fine folks at Disney brought some never-before-seen clips from the film and screened 'em for us...a hard sell to a group of horror nuts and cine-freaks not yet debriefed after the onslaught from the best and brightest in the international genre and gore scene. But, at the end of the day, we'd be walking around and hear even the most hardcore critics not talking about the suspense and slasher films they had just seen, but about how totally awesome BOLT looked. As superhero Dogs go, this one's reaching across the aisles.
There are two ways to get a seat to the show...
If you were a proud badge-holder from Fantastic Fest 2008, or a proud bade-holder for Fantastic Fest 2009, and would like to see the movie on Saturday, send an email to RSVP@FantasticFest.Com with the words ROLL RHINO ROLL in the subject line, and please include your name and whether your guest would be a child between the ages of 6 and 12. All verified badge-holder emails sent in between now and Wednesday, 11/12, at noon will be entered into a random drawing for a chance to have reserved seats, and, if they are selected, people with a child as a guest will receive a +1, but they must attend with the child to claim it. We'll post the list of winners on Wednesday at 5p on the Alamo Blog at www.originalalamo.blogspot.com.
Also at 5p on Wednesday, we'll open up a second-chance at grabbing a seat on the Alamo Kids' Club facebook group! If you're not yet a member, check it out- it's a great way to up-to-date on all the free Alamo Drafthouse Kids' Club screenings we have year-round at South Lamar! Plus, it just might get you into BOLT for free, so become a member. And check back Wednesday to see how you can get a seat. (Click Here To Learn All!)
A huge thanks to Ain't It Cool News (www.aintitcool.com) for making this screening happen and for all the free Kids' Club screenings year-round!! We couldn't do it without them.
BOLT opens for a full run at the Alamo South Lamar on November 21.

and I even work for Disney...

Chong used to live near me and I swear he was growin' the wacky in his backyard. It just smelt so nice when I walked by - I wanted to move into his pool house.
-
He's basically a fanboy of Bolt's tv show and pretty much what most of us on these message boards are. Other than that, the rest looks somewhat bland, mostly due to them firing Chris Sanders from it halfway through.
-
Everything that hamster says in the trailer and TV spots makes me laugh.
-
Wasn't halfway through. It was early on. Little of what he did (thankfully) survived. If it had, you'd be complaining about the car crash of a story that it was. There was a lot of beautiful concept art, but there was no story. Only a weird collection of skits. Some moderately funny, other not so. All of it feeling odd. Be thankful it didn't come out. Your image of Chris Sanders being a genius is protected by the mess never being shown onscreen. He's talented, but he's not perfect and American Dog was far, far from perfect. In fact, it was a dog..

We shall see...
-
Pretty good. Not Pixar-good, but it definitely showed that there's Pixar influence in the mix. Easily the best Disney animated movie in years (not that it's saying a lot, lol).
-
this is a kiddie movie, and doesn't even have any kind of genre/sci-fi element to it...unless maybe you just count the animation. It's weird how this has gotten so many headlines and stories on here. Well Harry's gotta eat, but it's just odd to see so many Bolt stories and attached hyperbole.
-
How is it weird? How many different ways do they need to tell you it's a good/great animated flick???
-
If the film appeals to adults, it's a "Family" movie. If it ONLY appeals to dumb five-year-olds, then it's a "Kiddie" movie.
