Might have to start watching this again.
-
Hope it's a winner.
-
oh,the trailer looked...ok. was that Massive Attack doing the theme song???
-
But I just can't seem to get excited about this, then again maybe I'm not the target audience for it. I have to say that I can't stand Buffy, hate it with a passion in fact and Angel doesn't really fare much better.
Firefly however was incredible and I enjoyed Serenity a lot (still hurts to see Wash dead tho).
Dollhouse however looks kinda dead in the water, the dialouge from the trailer was just flat out cheesy and the concept sounds kinda interesting but I just know it's gonna get bogged down in typical Wheedon sentimental bullshit.
Dushku is kinda easy on the eyes tho.
By the way guys, where is the Fringe talkback? That show is great, even Joshua Jackson is kinda likeable in that show but it's the mad scientist father that steals the show. -
But it is 4am over here in the uk so blow me :-)
-
Because lord knows she can't act. Still, she's pretty so that can be forgiven. Did I mention she's hot?
-
I have to prepare myself. Breathe. Okay, I'm going to click on the video.
-
That don't like Buffy or Angel think they're "too good for it". Get over yourself and un-hang your hangups.

"Slayer School" might be the most retarded thing ive ever seen
by nalapou
on this site. And i love every one of those actors and every tv show they've all been on. What a hideous, horrific 'idea'.
-
In fact Christian Slater could be in this. Love Ms. Dushku though, ever since Tru Calling, so hoping for the best.
-
I just find that the supposedly hip and cool dialouge grates on me. It's not as if I haven't tried, my girlfriend loves Buffy and Angel, she owns them all on VHS and over the last year I've seen pretty much every episode.
I will admit that Angel is the better of the two but again it's the dialouge that tries so hard to be hip and cool that let's it down.
Like I said before, I don't hate all Wheedon's work, Firefly was one of the best shows in recent memory and is something I will watch again and again in the coming years, but Dollhouse seems to me like it will be going back down the Angel and Buffy roads of corny and hackneyed scriptwriting.
Then again, this is just a trailer and I'm not going to flat out declare it the worst show ever made and yes I will probably watch the first 3 or 4 episodes before making up my mind, all I'm saying is I'm not sure it's for me. -

I did find the puppet episode of Angel to be amusing though.
by tolomey
Let it go, let it all go.
Creepy. -
I love it when in the Slayer School promo Dushku spins around and clocks the guy with the back of her thigh. That'll show him!
-
Ok so that looked pretty lame. Hardly anything in that lept out and said a big FUCK YEH watch me bitches. Whoever it is that said the "nothing is what it seems" line saved Eliza's ass from being the worst actor in that preview.
-
Slice of awesome. Not the fan vid - Michelle Willaims? The hell? - but the idea. There's a spoiler recap of a Dollhouse episode up (1st? 2nd? The guy is not too sure) which I throughly enjoyed. Would have enjoyed it more if the dude recapping didn't try for a TWOP vibe. Where as TWOP is lovingly snarky, this guy came off confusing and a little douchy.
-
...is the hottest thing I have ever seen.
-
will be AWESOME
-
Thankyou David, that fake Faith trailer was gold. Sigh, if only. And...naked dushku, naked dushku, naked dushku, naked dushku, naked dushku. You had me at hello.
-
Eliza in THAT bikini washing cars, posing...gulp. H.O.T.T.E.S.T thing, ever.
-
If it gets that far.
-
Probably doesn't help to mention Buffy and Angel. Joss-fans already know who's making it. Non-fans hear Buffy and make a judgement about it (I still think that hurt Serenity). I like most of Whedon's stuff and it would be nice if it was both good and lasted a while, but it looks like fox already pre-cancelled it: http://tinyurl.com/6znqso.
-
Anybody know who did the music for the Faith credits?
-
because of who's making it and the strength of his previous shows - especially Firefly, God but that was wonderful. But I'm just not feeling this. It looks pretty bad.
-
The guy (dave?) says it's The Crystal Method: Born Too Slow? I don't know, I don't read french...
-
I swear that what I thought they were saying....
(actual lyrics)
well listen to method man
cause if you leave him callin'
you'll know you'll be fallin'
lights are bummin' low
your shot off and bum and go
lives are bummin' low
your shot off and bum and go
born just a little too
-
Yeah, "You're a bloody puppet!" "Spiiiiiiike!" Great episode!
-
love the wide open "working set" and visuals. I see alot of extended chatty one-shots in our future. bring it on
-
on cnn? fucking amazing...sci fi fantasy becomes fact...now make the millenium falcon and take me away from this dump
-
Please take him away. Then maybe the sevice at the West Covina In-N-Out will get better.
-
but it cant be much worse than that lame Ghost Whisperer knockoff Tru Calling .....
-
the song is called Born Too Slow, featuring John Garcia. Here's the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9MFrRyfQek -
wasn't a real one, just an in-camera trick. Pity eh?
-
whedons dialog all sounds the same. nekid dushku sounds better.

Honestly, The Faith TV Series Looks Better Than Dollhouse!!!
by media messiah
Yes, the Faith TV series looks better than Dollhouse and it isn't even real???!!! Maybe they should have just done a Faith TV series instead, but you'll remember Fox blocked that in favor of Tru Calling!!!
-
That wasn't a hologram. Clearly it was just simple green-screening of a live shot...and it was not impressive at all. They just used multiple cameras so that they could matte in any angle of the static human subject they wanted. From the clips I saw, it was just front, and 3 quarter angle side and back views. This was not new technology, you could do this with old equipment from ten years ago, or even 20 years ago, in terms of the visual!!! So again, this is not new!!!Now, I have something new for Hollywood. A technology that can really make regular 3-D projection look like a joke. In fact, you could do it for much less money, with zero need for 3D glasses...and no need to film movies in 3D!!! But this would be used for films, theatre, and other events where projection is used. What is it??? I'm not saying. I'm not going to give away this type of information and not get paid for it!!!
-
what i like: naked Dushku, the House-like use of Massive Attack-like music.
what i don't: the voiceover? kinda cheesy. for a moment there, i thought this was gonna be Touched By An Angel or something. i really hope that's just Fox's lame marketing & not a shift they've forced on Whedon... -
hopefully it'll be better then the overhyped 'Fringe' which keeps getting worse every episode
-
seems to me it's been getting better. i especially liked the Observer guy and his liking for hot sauce.
-
so that kid who made the Faith video....what's with the Alex thing for Xander? i realize his name was Alexander but he's never gone by anything other than Xander so why would he suddenly change it now? this sounds like the sorta thing a network would wanna do to "mature him". anyway as retarded as the video was, i'll give him props for picking good footage for the non-buffy/angel shows. but i am confused, why does this site call that Slayer School when the video was called Faith. anyway i'll give Dollhouse a try, but the way its already being treated, i wont be surprised to see a Complete Series DVD collection by 2009's end. its Fox afterall.
-
Get your timelines straight. Tru Calling was here and gone before JLH's breasts ever dragged her to an audition for Ghost Whisperer. And Tru didn't talk to ghosts, she time-traveled. Tru got cancelled just as the developing mythology (Dad killed Mom and is mentoring Jack) was getting really interesting. Also, never forgive CBS for making room for JLH's breasts by cancelling Joan of Arcadia, another show who's storylines were heating up. The fact that 8 million viewers isn't enough to get a show renewed is proof that the major networks just don't understand the current landscape of modern television viewing.
-
sort of reminds me of the current incarnation of the Weapon X Project in Wolverine comics. Right down to the memory wipe.
Not that I consider that a bad thing. I'm going to stick with this regardless, just from my love of Dushku.
For those who say Dushku can't act, I was wondering if you have watched Sex and Breakfast? I thought she was very believable in that and made her character very true to life. But it is a sort of melancholy romance movie so not everyone would be into it. Still, damn she looked great as always.
-
actually, although Tru didn't talk TO ghosts, she would time travel only AFTER a dead person spoke to her.
now there's a sentence i never thought i'd write. -
Personally, I'm just gonna wait til I've seen the show. Because the last time I made up my mind that I wasn't going to like a new Joss show was Firefly, I didn't bother watching it - and boy did I miss out!
"Cowboys in space.....? Nah" That's what I said!!! So....this might be good, might not be. I don't think you can call it at this stage (those saying that it don't excite them / 'looks shit'). -
I don't think a shows creator gets much say in the creation of the promos. I've sometimes wondered if the directors etc get frustrated at how badly a network can misrepresent their show with an ad. Many times they will even give something away that they shouldn't have or just give it the wrong feel of things.
I remembered a promo during Alias, back when Sydney and her sister were working as a team. The season had gotten really dark but the promo had them running around to that cheesy song "There never were two more devoted sisters". What ever the hell that was from. It stuck in my head because it was so amazingly stupid.

Like Firefly, I'll wait until it gets cancelled and watch the DV
by eriamjh
That way I catch the whole story arc thing they're going for... ignore breaks by commercials and waiting until next week for the next chapter... and be able to catch the whole year fan-forum-hype in just one weekend viewing.
-
The best ever that I've seen was when Fox 8 in Australia decided to put together an ad for several adventure and fantasy shows that were being repeated. The thinking must have been, "Hey, we have this great shot of Buffy running off this tower in slow motion and diving into this cool looking pool of blue energy! That will be a great way to illustrate and begin our ad about how exciting our shows are!" Of course, said shot pulled out of context was from the end of Buffy series 5 - it was of her sacrificing herself. That is, it was of her death. Well done.
-
The Observer/Watcher guy was interesting, granted, but everything else has been abysmal to the point where you keep watching in the hopes of seeing Joel, Tom Servo and Crow from MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 at the bottom of the screen.
And I dare you to tell me the lead actress' character's name without having to look it up elsewhere. That chick is so vapid she makes C-Span look like On Demand porn.
-
These shows all look the same
The young actors and actresses all look the same (one girl looks like Jessica Alba's sister)
-
And cheap.
But I'll watch. If it's 1.10 as good as Angel I'll love it. -
And I didn't have to look it up. Torv is a great last name. Get Torv!
-
Dushku has said in interviews that it was she who knocked back the offer of a Faith spin off show, she was worried that it would not live up to Buffy or Angel and wanted to do something new. shame, it could've been great.
-
I was interested, but it looks like another sci-fi infused The OC style show.
I previously (and mistakenly) had thought this show would be for, y'know, grown-ups. Instead, its another show for high school girls to get excited about.
Im looking at YOU, Veronica Mars fans. -
I read that as well. What made it sting even more to me is that Spike was also supposed to be part of it, her costar. Knocked Marsters out of another steady job and a chance to further develop Spike outside of Buffy and Angel's shadow.
By the later season's I had become more interested and empathetic with Faith over Buffy and Spike over all because of their character growth and potential. Would love to see that series more than anything else being produced on air these days. -
It's one thing to bitch about a show that's on the air, but none of you have even seen this yet. The dude has a flawless track record and you can't even give it a chance? WTF? Now, if you're one of those who can't stand Whedon's dialog, then why are you even here? Go hang out with the people who couldn't stand Babylon 5 just because of Londo's hair.
As for Fringe, I've given it a good chance, but it bores the hell out of me. I'll give it a few more episodes before I give up on it. -
Gotta work on those reading comprehension skills, my man.
-
"If I am not me, den who da hell am I?" Lets see, wipe out memories to implant new ones for "secret missions"? Wasn't there a Total Recall The Series?
-
That means she'll be on the show until at least the 12/1 episode. Her last scheduled episode was supposed to be 2 weeks from Monday. At this point, I just say, enjoy her kickassery on a show that needs her more than she needs it while it lasts. :) Hopefully she'll hang around for the final 2 episodes of the Villains arc before she bids the show adieu.
-
Olivia Dunham. I only remember this because of the way Lance Reddick's character "Broyles" pronouces her name.I personally think Fringe is far from perfect but is getting better after every ep. Anna Torv seems very subdued in this show though. Almost emotionless at times.
-
Until the second season is announced, I wouldn't even consider watching an episode. Fox has canceled one too many "sciffy" shows for my taste. I won't give them another chance. Josh shouldn't have either.
-
Yeah, no. The ratings for 307 were down from 306, despite Elle being featured in promos. So they're hardly benefitting from her reappearing ratings wise.
-
Bell passed on Lost(a role that will be much bigger this coming season) for Heroes She has been wasted this season frankly think even she must feel it was a mistake now. Hopefully they will still make a VM:Movie so she still has that I guess.
-
Dushku is small screen poison.
-
visual fail.
-
I'm interested in this show because of Whedon's record. This was a very very weak promotional clip. Don't they want anyone who doesn't already know about the show to watch it? Bah.
-
it's just the same every episode. Something weird happens, Walter explains it in terms that a grown up would understand ("the air molecules expand inside the elastic container"), the FBI chick looks at Pacey, so he explains it in terms a child would understand ("it's like a baloon!"). Then walter goes on a rant about how back in the 60s he did some similar reserch, but it led nowhere, somebody must have picked up the work. They do some police work, save the victim. The "pattern" thing is kinda interesting, but the "case of the week" dynamic doesn't work at all.
-
I'll watch it. And that dude up there (forgot your nic, dude) who said Dushku couldn't act must never seen her play Faith on BtVS cause she owned that screen when she was on.
-
The reality show that will replace this after 5 eps. And I agree about Firefly, never could get into Buffy or Angel, but Firefly, when viewed on the DVD, is awesome. And don't forget, Supernatural tonight, 9pm ET, on CW. Watch it.
-
No diggity
-
but this looks intended for teenage girls. Boring.
-
I couldn't agree more. Thank you for explaining to me why I could never get into that show.
-
Or is it all the stuff that was cut and re-shot? Sounds interesting. Or a mess.
-
This much bitching and whining is not warranted until anyone has actually seen the damn thing.
-
I had a stronger sense of what it was about from that--this on the other had looks like it'll really confound people who thought the pilot for My Own Worst Enemy was too convoluted (morons).
-
I know what you mean with concerns about Faith being a series for teenage girls, but what they should do is make it with an older demo in mind...as Buffy fans have gotten older, so it would have to be sexier and more mature...and I'd aim it toward males. The females will show up for Joss and thanks to the show being a spin off of Buffy...but I'd make it more sexual, where we would be dealing with a woman who is now in her mid twenties and tackling the kinds of sex issues and subject matter explored on Sex In The City and the L-Word. The feel should be more toward Supernatural and Chuck in terms of structure.
-
sorry if I made timeline errors, my bad... it just seems like Ghost has been on forever now, I didnt think Tru Calling was that old. But your description of the differences between both shows is really helpful to remind me how much dumber both shows are than I remembered from the few episodes I've seen of each!
-
I'm absolutely interested in the show now. I didn't know much about it other than Whedon and Dushku. Now I see the promo, I can get into it. Harry Lennox? Hells yeah! And if you just looked at Buffy based on a half-minute promo you might think that was "for teenage girls", too. Or how about the movie Teeth? I love Ginger Snaps. Does that mean I'm a teenage girl?
-
How can you like the mad scientist old guy on Fringe and complain about the dialogue in Buffy and Angel? That character in Fringe is written so heavy-handed I'm surprised the writer can leave his keyboard. It's the most forced, ridiculous pseudo-crazy I've ever heard. Every time he opens his mouth I want to shove my shoe in it.
-
Nope. This is a ripoff of Joe Haldeman's "All My Sins Remembered." An agent is sent into the field with layers of false memory, not even knowing who he is but programmed to take extreme action if needed, without forethought or regret. The only difference is that Haldeman's agents were disguised physically as well, to the point where they might be completely unrecognizable. We'll see if Whedon can beat Haldeman; I suspect not.
