Hamm can deliver a straight line funny, and a funny line straight. He would be a plus in any comedy, except Two And A Half Men perhaps.

thats a pretty rough shot at tina, by someone who probably jerks it to girls half has good looking because they seem more attainable. I am also pretty excited about this. and no one heard of Hamm before Mad Men(at least not as far as i know) This will be good. Curious about that reccuring part however. Seems more like stunt casting to me, rather than him becoming a regular. Maybe he'll finish out the season or something.

Is only because of her resemblence and spot-on impression of a certain Vice Presidential candidate. If McCain hadn't chose Palin, Fey's press would be zilch.

So it got it's largest rating ever last night of the people who watched it live and the people who watched it the same day in another slot on DVR. Good for her. It held on to the majority of "The Office" 9.32 million lead in.

    Jon Hamm's John Ham

    by brainstormchaser

Jon Hamm on "30 Rock" sounds pretty cool, especially with the long hiatus that cable programs like "Mad Men" take in between seasons. Of course, Hollywood could wise-up and give him some better film roles outside of a supporting role in "The Day the Earth Stood Still" opposite Keanu Reeves. To quote Amy and Seth from Weekend Update.."Seriously?" I kow Keanu has the box-office clout and awareness but Jon Hamm can act circles around him. Bad move Fox, bad move.

Hamm could easily be the next Clooney; TV lead actor segueing to big screen lead actor. He's got the gravitas...The only problem is that 20+ million saw Clooney weekly on ER. Only about 1 million even know who Jon Hamm is.

    by senatorjeffersonsmith

We need complete saturation of the Jon Hamm product. Give him a recurring role on every program, including Letterman and Leno...just let Hamm host the show and interview himself...or interview himself playing Don Draper, and he can teach the world how to drink at 9 am and chase skirts.

snowpuff, 30 Rock is just starting it's third season. if we're not counting networks like the old WB/UPN or current CW, there is notable and brilliant program Homocide:Life on the Streets which ran on NBC for 7 Seasons while having similar to even worse ratings than 30 Rock currently has and it was able to hang-on to due such strong critical acclaim.

Re: lowest rated/longest running show ever?

    by snowpuff

Nope, you're way wrong. Homicide never had ratings as bad. Not even close. You're just comparing what was known then as a "low rated show" to what is known as a "low rated show" now.

A few things have changed. NBC primetime has recently garnered the lowest ratings of any network in primetime, ever, overall. And overall, there are a lot less viewers watching the networks. So those first two aren't exactly fair.

But... 30 Rock is a good far place down from where Homicide ever was. 30 Rock sometimes comes out in 90th place. 30 Rock sometimes is beat out by Univision - the Spanish network.

Maybe with Fey's popularity things will change. But just to point out: someone above posted that 30 Rock held onto to most of The Office's viewers. Here's the problem, though. The Office does not have very good ratings. In fact the ratings for The Office are extremely mediocre. It's not a ratings winner by any means.

    by gooseud

I give less then a rat's dick about ratings. Personally, I find 30 Rock hilarious. Are AICN posters really using low ratings to bash a show, aside from it not getting a 4th season or whatever? You know what has been on forever and gets great ratings? According to Jim. Oh, and Two and a Half Men. True comedic quality there.

    30 AIN'T ROCKIN': zip ratings

    by thegreatwhatzit

After all the hype and p.r. saturation, regarding its (new) season debut, 30 ROCK could only muster third place in its time slot. Analysts are predicting the ratings will subsequently sink even lower. The public just isn't fond of Tina Fey. She's a "plain Jane" artificial intelligence whose Palin impersonation will fade after the election. Guys gauge her as average or less than average. Women are turned-off by her ice princess persona. And nobody likes Baldwin (Father of the Year). The zip ratings authenticate the public's rejection of this vanity project.

Good point. Great ratings do NOT equal a great show. I love "30 Rock". Is it perfect? Nope, but it usually makes me laugh. Which means it's better than most other sitcoms on tv right now.

Also, I think maybe "Scrubs" might win the award for "longest-running / lowest-rated-show ever". Not that I've done any research to back up this claim. I'm too busy jerking it to my crusty collection of Tina Fey pics.

Of course. And a wicked parody of it, it was. I do think Homer should have been holding a doughnut, not a sucker. Too bad it was the highlight of a middling Halloween episode. A story about the use of dead celebrities in advertising? That was topical about 10 years ago.

    by leafar the lost

...because it is the only reason why he would be considered for a recurring role on 30 Rock. It would be funny for him to be a guest star on the show for 1-2 episodes, but Hamm is headed for the big screen. I would be surprised if he actually stays on Mad Men for more than 1-2 seasons. He wants to be like Clooney, so he will not be the next Superman.
